Homage to 9-11 Victims via NJ Meadowlands Memorial Artwork . . . by takegoro Never shall we forget the tragic and horrific day of 09/11/2001 as terrorists attacked the World Trade Center Twin Towers, shocking the world on that Tuesday morning. The Pentagon in Washington D.C. was also struck, and Flight 93 over PA had crashed in a rural area due to the final acts of bravery of citizens determined not to allow for another major strike with the commercial airliner. This simple, but beautiful work of art in metal is perfectly placed, aligned with where the Twin Towers originally stood, and now represented by the Freedom Tower that you see prominently displayed for all to see. I did not want to cover the Freedom Tower with the silhouetted of the Twins, so shifted my shooting position slightly. Richard DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, is where this quiet memorial work sits--by the outside viewing area of the southern administrative building of NJSEA. The Meadowlands park here offers wonderful experiences in discovering and exploring the wetlands wildlife and landscape, and amongst the rich nature scenes sits this tribute to the souls perished on that terrible day, including the countless first responders, who would bravely dash into the inferno in their tireless efforts to save as many folks as possible. Sadly, but inspirationally, a great number of these courageous first responders would never return home, but only for their selfless acts would such a large segment of those in the buildings of inferno survive, and in time, be able to embrace their loved ones . . . https://flic.kr/p/2jFqBJo
