i just read the silliest review for brokeback mountain
here are some quotes
"I can't relate to this at all. This is a film about the closet, but the two closeted queer men never vocally admit their queerness."
bro. its the 60s, they both, but especially ennis, have deep internalized homophobia, plus if they say it out loud then that makes it "real" AND they could literally die and jack DID
"It's two men, masculine, white, tough, cowboys, literal goddamned cowboys, whose identities are not (noticeably) wrapped up in their sexualities. And sure, people like this probably exist, but one of the worst parts of the closet was not being able to be who I am. And so, I can't relate to these guys."
wtf does this mean. just because they dont start shitting rainbows as soon as they realize their feelings for eachother doesn't make them any less real. they are who they are. even if they got to live in a world without homophobia together they would still be grumpy old cowboys.
"But, you ask, wasn't the point that they couldn't be who they were? And the answer is, no. The point was to make them as blandly straight as possible for mainstream Hollywood audiences so they might remotely identify with them somehow despite their (denied) queerness. The idea that they couldn't be who they really were is belied both by history and the fact that the bulk of their relationship takes place in the middle of nowhere. The point of their escapes into the wilderness was that they could be who they were--we could see their boyish play together especially in the beginning. So the least we deserved from this movie was a moment where their queerness was addressed frankly, directly, unavoidably, without all of the macho cowboy bullshit."
bro forgot that the only requirement for being gay is loving the same gender
macho cowboy bullshit is still queer if they love eachother!!!
"It avoids the issue in favor of making this about love instead of queerness."
????? im tired of some of yall tbh
idk if yall know this but some people can just live their lives and go with the flow
"I like love. I love love. But I want my queer love to be queer."
two men that kiss eachother so hard they almost break eachothers nose seems pretty queer to me
"A lot of heterosexual misery what about the poor straights bullshit."
? im thinking "awe i feel bad for alma" not "awe those poor straight people" this is such a wild thing to have to say but straight people can have meaningful storylines in queer movies.
anyways, macho cowboy bullshit = gay and dont let anyone tell you otherwise

#OTD in Irish History | 1 April (Aibreán):
April Fools’ Day is celebrated all around the world on the 1 April of every year. Sometimes referred to as All Fools’ Day, 1 April is not a national holiday, but is widely recognised and celebrated as a day where everyone plays all kinds of jokes and foolishness. In the Liturgical calendar it is the Feast Day of Cellach of Armagh or Celsus or Celestinus. He was Archbishop of Armagh and an…

'David Dastmalchian just happened to make his feature film debut in The Dark Knight, one of the most popular and successful movies of all time, and the actor still remembers how amazed he was the first time he saw director Christopher Nolan at work.
These days, Dastmalchian can be recognized from the various roles he's played in a variety of films, but it all began with his memorable role as a villain in The Dark Knight. More recently, Dastmalchian reunited with Nolan with a role in the hit film Oppenheimer, marking a bit of a full-circle moment for the actor. In an interview conducted by /Film before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Dastmalchian shared his memories of working on The Dark Knight, which tied into how wonderful it was for him to get back onto a Nolan movie set once again.
"For me, the thing that stood out was getting the opportunity to observe one of the great masters of cinema, Christopher Nolan, be able to orchestrate a set with thousands of performers and hundreds if not thousands of crew members and extensive equipment setups under the incredible pressure of having to shoot in a downtown, thriving, operating metropolis like Chicago and make that Gotham City," Dastmalchian said of The Dark Knight. "Seeing him do so with nothing but confidence and clarity and the skill of a great leader and communicator."
On seeing Nolan at it again on the set of Oppenheimer, Dastmalchian continued, "That just affected me in this deep way, seeing an artist at that level operate in such a manner, and since then, has been the bellwether representation of the captains that I love to embark on journeys with, the people who I will follow into the craziest waters, the most unknown places, the most dark chasms to jump with leaps of faith because somebody just has that kind of discipline and heart for cinema. And I saw it again. I got to see it on the set of his newest film."
In The Dark Knight, Dastmalchian plays Thomas Schiff, a man revealed to be a henchman for Heath Ledger's Joker. For his Nolan reunion, Dastmalchian took on the role of real-life nuclear weapons advocate William L. Borden in Oppenheimer. The actor's latest role sees him as one of the stars of the Dracula-inspired horror film, The Last Voyage of the Demeter.
Fans can catch Dastmalchian on the big screen by watching either Oppenheimer or The Last Voyage of the Demeter, as both movies are currently playing in theaters.'

There are more. I’ve tagged my 30. Some of course had more impact than others. Some were even before I was born. For example I was about to add #marvin gaye. As I’ve grown older and learn more about the lives of these people who were all beacons in some capacity I can’t help but be moved by their loss.
My answer is yes for Heath Ledger. I was obsessed with him when he died and it broke my little pre-teen heart 💔
