"Tone and hand signals," he explained, looking to Roxy and making a two finger gun to point at her. "Bang," he said, rocking his hand back like a gun and right on cue, Roxy fell to the ground and rolled on her back to play dead. "That's a good girl," he smirked, kneeling down to scratch her belly.
David glanced up at Lucy's question while he kept scratching Roxy's belly. "Enough. There's a reason I've been helping out on rotations out there. Two birds, one stone." He finally stopped loving on Roxy to push himself back into a standing state. "Nah, the traps for them are a bit more intricate than that. Typically they're in place and grotesque enough that no animal or person walks into them. You were just a special case getting snared as ya did."
"Woah," Lucy was impressed. "Is there a certain tone you use? I mean, you rattled them off and she didn't do anything." Not knowing much about dog training, she was curious. "Does it take long to train her?"
Her whistle was low, appreciative. "Damn, David - how regularly do you think they have to do that? Like, one a night?" The idea of traps, however, really had her. "Are they hunting traps like I goofed my way into? Or like..." Lucy trailed off, lacking in any example of a trap not used for hunting. She laughed. "I dunno. Something cooler."

Band of Brothers Ages: IRL vs. Actors
Did you know that according to a 1947 study, almost half the men who served in WWII were still under age 26 by the end of the war?
What this is : A (very long) post comparing the ages of the actors in Band of Brothers vs. the IRL figures they are portraying.
Background: Did I need to do this? No. Did anyone ask for this? Also no. Did I do it anyway? Yes.
Disclaimers: This is SUPER approximate for the most part. I based IRL ages off of D-Day unless otherwise noted, and actor ages off of January 1, 2000, the year filming took place (the latter is where the most variation will be because I didn't try to figure out what month filming started). I also didn't fact-check birthdays beyond googling. Most are sourced from the Band of Brothers and Military Wikis on fandom.com, Wikipedia, and IMDb.
I broke them up into rough categories, which are, again, approximate. I know I often forget how young the real life people were here, and this was a good reminder of that. I also found it interesting to see which actors were actually younger than their roles!
Check it all out under the cut ⬇️

usual warnings RRAAJHHHH
Marko

Paul
we all saw this coming tbh
Lucy was a hippie QUEEN
main point
they get absolutely zoodied mcscootied
zoinked out of their gourds
this is what they bond over no questions ASKED
"oh honey they sell better quality behind the hot dog stand"
you guys get the point
David
they have quiet reading sessions
i hc that Lucy has a huge shelf
filled with cheesy romance books
and you know what?
they just sit there in silence enjoying the company
they don't read aloud or even the same book
he has claimed a special chair in the living room
"...Paul get the fuck off my CHAIR"
even better if Michael has rights to sit on said chair
Dwayne
girls night
you guys read that correctly
with Star and Lucy
they paint each other's nails
they go out to clothing's stores
and makeup stores
and Dwayne comes with them lmao
he doesn't really engage in the conversations
because its mostly about celeberty drama and goofy music??
he listens to them like a podcast
what can I say he's one of the girls
a/n: I had kind of a shitty day today and I needed something for comfort and I enjoyed writing this so much and hopefully you'll like reading it as much as I liked writing it!

10 please and D and P or H and T!!
Hi, friend!!!! I have completely given up on trying to contain my word count for these 😅 While the majority of the song is very David Rose, my brain latched onto the final verse for Tim. Putting it under the cut because 595 words 🫠
send me 1-100 and i'll write you a drabble based on the corresponding song
“I missed you, Skippy.”
The words are a balm as much as they are a cut. A stabbing reminder of everything Tim can’t have. Could never have, really. Hawk was never his to keep. And as impossible as their love was before, it’s even more so now. Because Hawk belongs to Lucy. He’s a family man, a paragon of virtue within his world. Even if it’s all a lie.
Tim can’t help but hate himself for the fraction of a second where he gives in to the fantasy that is loving and being loved by Hawkins Z. Fuller. He pretends that this moment is real and yearns to live in it forever, briefly considering bargaining with God if only he could be granted this one thing. This speck of time when Hawk is holding him, cherishing him. When he feels the warm brush of lips against his neck and jaw, the light scrape of stubble against his cheek, the fingers tangling in his hair and the hand at his back, as if Hawk truly wants to keep him. He smells the musky scent of cologne, mixed with Tide and a unique aroma that could only belong to Hawk.
It takes him back to a rented room in 1952 and a crackling radio playing swoony love songs to cover the sound of their immorality. To stolen moments when they raised their middle fingers to God and loved with abandon. Because that’s what it was – love. Not sin. Not a mistake. Love. At least for Tim.
And that thought strikes him like lightning, grounding him to the present. To the reality that is. The one where Hawk says he misses Tim, while the family Hawk left him for waits a quarter mile up the road in the main house. Presumably none the wiser.
He wants to ask Hawk what exactly it is he misses. Is it the sex? The relative safety of someone he didn’t have to hide his secrets from (even though Tim is certain there were many between them)? But he doesn’t do that, because it will accomplish nothing. Instead he talks about Father Lawrence, and the possibility of holding two truths.
He lets the pain of his words sink in and reflect in Hawk’s eyes, and he hopes they do hurt. Even if it will never be the same, Tim needs some validation in the form of knowing Hawk is in a fraction of the amount of anguish Tim has been carrying in his heart, like a slow-acting poison, for the last fifteen years.
When Hawk’s inner turmoil – whether it be real or imagined – retreats behind a familiar mask of indifference, Tim accepts the tainted gift for what it is. Possibly the closest he will ever come to hurting the bulletproof Mr. Fuller.
“Please leave.” Tim doesn’t have to ask twice before Hawk is out the door again, leaving him to the heavy silence of his makeshift sanctuary.
He kneels in front of the stone fireplace, clasping his hands together, unsure what to think or say. What could he confess or ask forgiveness for? Because how, as he had once disclosed to the Army priest, could love be a sin? This love that blooms eternal in Timothy Laughlin’s heart for one Hawkins Fuller, no matter how he tries to trample it like a pesky weed. This love that he’s certain will taunt him for eternity, perhaps into the afterlife, and never let him go.
Tim closes his eyes and begins to speak, praying the rest will come of its own accord. “Dear Heavenly Father…”

Is there a masterlist of, like, actors and celebrities that have come forward for trans rights?
I know the internet has all sorts of collections of people who've done something messed up and those always depress me but reading about David Tennant being supportive in the face of the UK government and current legislation and stuff really hit me and I'd love to be able to see who else is out there standing up for us and what's right.
If not, here's a list I'm putting together, feel free to add to it or add context in the notes if you want! I'm including celebrities who have affirmed their support for trans family members even if they're not doing other activism. I'm also only listing celebrities I know of, and this list does not in any way endorse any problematic stuff any of them may have done outside of the topic.
Just making this list is cheering me up a lot tbh

Random questions about the daniverse bc your fics live rent free in my brain:
what does magnus teach at the academy in lbaf? Does he get paid?
do the kids at the academy get sex ed classes? i hope they do. (my school did not have it and so a lot of kids were severely misinformed. did your school have it?)
will we ever get to know why david and his dad look like raziel or it it just a random thing?
does arthur have any powers bc of David's demon blood?
who're your top thee fav female shadowhunters (from canon and your fics)?
I didn't get the whole Mallory's baby thing. Was she ever pregnant?
Did reading chot in any way influence the plot of lbaf v?
Didn't Achilles have a sibling? What are they up to?
I loved the scene from IALS alec's chapter with Arthur in the office and i even laughed when i first read it but i can't stop thinking about how terrifying that must be for arthur. I've never been in a situation when i couldn't communicate w others. I felt really bad for arthur.
What is the one storyline/idea you're the most excited to write about in lbaf v? (spoiler free obvi)
anyway you're amazing. i hope you get well soon.
love, Yana
ps. I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET LUCI!
This is my fave thing ever. Thank you <3
He does. He is a guest lecturer (similar to canon). He talks mostly about history and magic (such as portals and accords, etc). Fun fact: Since Lance and Arthur are not allowed in the Academy, Magnus taught them separately. There is a whole short story about this one!
They do! They have something called 'self and society' - which was inspired by a class I teach at one of the local unis. It's more about understanding different aspects of yourself and one of the classes (which I teach) is on sexual and reproductive health education + gender and society. In lbaf, they do have a class similar to this where they learn about different self identies (including that of downworlders and nephilim etc)
We might...
Yes. He can make amazing tiktoks :P
Ahhh can't choose three! Some of my faves are in TDA - Emma. Cristina. Diana. I love all the ladies from TID and LBAF hehe. It took a lot of effort to warm up to Clary and Izzy because i didn't like their characterization in tmi - but I learned to love them eventually :)
If you are referring to IALS, it was just a delusion. Just like the 'max actually loves me' thing. In LBAF, it's a rumor.
...Yes. You might see a reference to Paladins in lbaf v. We will also get more Iron Sisters and Silent Brothers content. Reading canon books always inspires me for lbaf :)
He has a younger sister called Aurelia (Rosales babies having A names my beloved). She is actually working closely with the Alliance (just like her parents). You will meet her in Alec pov, I think!
It is definitely terrifying. I could write an essay about arthur angst smh.
There is a date (as in a romantic date). It's one of the turning points in the story because what happens during the date results in a whole chain reaction of events that leads to so much! I can't wait! Also very excited to write about Lucifer. I'm still workshopping his characterization oof.
Thank you for this, bebe. I love you <3
