im describing in great detail because i dont have my drawing tablet. bare with me.

the audience is looking upon a curtained off stage. the lights begin to dim, a spotlight is flicked on as the curtains recede. i am sitting there with on a bar stool with my face completely shadowed holding a chocolate cigarette. it is bent and melting.

i look up at the audience with a haggard expression, one that has been though many wars and seen death and destruction by the hundreds. i mime taking a drag and let out a long exhale.

to be honest. (long pause) i need his grody butch ass. he eats cigarettes for breakfast and i would genuinely be anemic from the amount of nose bleeds i would get from seeing that.

strap game abysmal, occasional halloween cartoon sound effect from haunted plush cuckoo clock, cal is there, a considerable amount of blood is involved and it’s infuriatingly hot. 10/10. im not getting out of there without new mental problems but it would be worth it.

(i look past the audience as if im looking at my last sunset as i succumb to my mortal wounds) i woild risk it all to grab one boob. just one.

i walk off stage. the audience suddenly goes into a frenzy tearing at each other like its the fucking purge. theres a grandma clawing some guy’s face off, there is a loose chimpanzee eating some lady’s foot, its chaos.

*takes a deep breath* Okay. I shall provide you with the basic information. This will take forever but I AM READY (just transferred a bunch of screenshots from my Switch to my phone to give visuals lmao)

Under the cut because this includes massive spoilers for Miitopia

Marty is the hero of our game, just a regular guy from a place called Greenhorne. He came to Greenhorne town only to find it attacked by the so called Dark Lord (who I made Edna in this game). Edna steals the faces off Miis and plants them on monsters so they gain power and fight Marty. Marty agrees to go on a quest to find and defeat the Dark Lord. So far, so good.

On the quest, he meets other Miis willing to help him. Those are Jennifer, Paul (from the Pinheads) and Linda. They fight and stuff (and rescue King Sam and Princess Lorraine as well as help Lorraine convince her dad to marry her childhood friend George instead of the prince Biff that Sam wants her to marry. Guys those roles were PERFECT for them I swear. George was spineless in this game and had the perfect color scheme, and Biff ws absolutely useless. 10/10 casting from my part), but as soon as they get to the next kingdom, the Dark Lord straight up kidnaps Marty's friends and he's all alone again :(

I said Marty was left alone? Well, not completely. He's not alone in spirit - because in Greenhorne, he has had an encounter with the Great Sage Doc, who has saved his life with his magic (you can see where this is going). Marty meets him again in Neksdor, as well as his new party members - Dave, young Emmett, and 1986B Jennifer (I was legit running out of BTTF characters because I had a lot of the townspeople be characters like Seamus and Maggie. And Clara is my horse. She's a purple unicorn. Oh and my quizmaster is Bill Nye which, also, is 10/10 casting. I am proud of myself)

In this new desert land called Neksdor (pun of "next door"), Marty and team fight a pharaoh before having to move on to the next kingdom. Oh and unhinged versions of my OCs because, again, I was running out of BTTF characters. I even gave Western Union Guy and Terry the car mechanic roles.

Next up, we had to go through the Realm Of The Fey, a fairy/elf kindgom. Once again, Edna kidnapped all my friends so I had to cast my OCs as new party members.

I cast server friends as the Fab Fairies because I SWEAr Bobby G doesn't have enough female characters in this franchise.

@bg-sparrow was the eldest Fab Fairy and I had to fight her as an owl. I'm so sorry BG lmao

After finishing off this kingdom, Marty got to head to Krakaton, where the Dark Lord hides out. His friends are once again kidnapped, and - much worse - Edna stole their faces, too!!

Marty discovers his friends with no faces and is absolutely devastated.

Enter the Great Sage.

The best part began: Doc joined Marty's team! Yay! Together, they went to rescue Marty's friends and had some endearing moments along the way :)

Look at them. They're buddies. I love them.

In the end of this mission, they manage to rescue all of Marty's friends and Doc leaves again. And now, we are approaching the final battle against the Dark Lord in Edna's castle retreat.

That battle was surprisingly easy and BOOM, Marty wins!! Congrats!

But the game is far from over. It turns out that Edns was in fact possessed by the so called Dark Curse, and now the Curse is looking for a new body. Naturally, it attacks Marty, being angry with him for defeating the Dark Lord.

And then Doc appears and saves Marty once again.

Sacrificing himself in the process.

Yep - Doc is a villain now. And he's even more powerful than ever before, due to his Great Sage powers. This is heavy, am I right?

Marty is absolutely heartbroken :( But Jennifer hypes him up jsgfdjhs

Now, Marty, his team and this kind dragon named Dominic have to chase Darker Lord Doc and defeat him to free the Great Sage

After Marty had to do a bunch of side quests collecting jewels that open the entrance to Doc's hideout, the Sky Scraper...

And now, here we are. I'm on my way to the final FINAL boss of this game, but this plot is absolutely destroying me. This Mii RPG game has no right to be this angsty like. Why.

There are people on the Foo Fighters subreddit who hate Chris on the absolutely unhinged premise that basically every song he’s ever written has been criticizing Dave and Taylor over their fake love affair that apparently has been non-stop since the moment they met. Imagine thinking a whole ass human with his own life experiences, and lyrics that are obviously so personal and honest, is actually just been dunking on his bandmates (who he has never had anything but good things to say about) because he’s an ungrateful homophobe or something? That this dude who fully broke down in an interview when he just broached the subject of the day Taylor died, has used his solo music to take more swipes at Taylor even after he died. All this based on complete batshit logic that certain extremely common words or phrases or themes MUST be about their specific fanfic narrative.

Stuff like suggesting a song like Overboard obviously a sweet “middle aged” love song for his wife (and he has described it as such), is somehow sinister or calling someone out because it mentions “hiding”. Sounds maybe a little compelling if you say it like that. Except the full line “we can pull the blinds/leave the world behind/i know you like to hide from the daylight” paints such a sweet picture with the rest of the context of song, which is pretty damn clear. Obviously they have never once listened to Chris talk about his songwriting process and make wild assumptions because they don’t actually give a shit about him, he’s just a tool in their narrative. Just like Dave and Taylor really, they don’t care about their actual lived experiences they’ve talked about, their families, their real life relationship with other people or each other… just their own narrative that ignores any inconvenient facts.

They hijack every damn thread about interviews, songwriting or live performances with this stuff, while being condescending to anyone who has a different take because “only they understand”

Like we all have head canons, but have some cognizance of the fact you don’t actually know these people. Keep it to AO3, and when you start giving real people the Skyler White treatment (ie unfair villainization) based on pure speculation maybe go touch some grass

But also a thousand years ago, when I was just a little baby teenage deviant in my first year of undergrad, I imprinted on a half-baked as my stoner movie so thoroughly that I feel certain that the above moment in that movie is a reflection of my very soul when I'm in distress. Also, Killer killed Nibbles. I will never pay another dime for anything he's done and it can be argued that by posting this gif I'm contributing to him remaining in the cultural consciousness of the West or the US or tumblr or whatever, but listen, y'all, sometimes there's tension between the things we connect with and there is no way to be ethical in the current late capitalist imminently apocalyptic hellscape, so I'm just gonna keep half-baked.

I'm Gen X and tired af. I will provide seasoning when Gen Z eats the rich and the boomers and whomstever else (lol not me I'm a public servant / educator / librarian who will never own property nor submit to these PWI motherfuckers for love or money), but just let me sit here in middle age with my smoke, my edibles, and my gotdamb movie lines. I love y'all. So in case you hadn't guessed (and why would you have? It's very unlikely you've read this far -- but if you have, maybe you HAVE guessed), I'm fucking exhausted.

Despite my well-laid plans, some things have happened in the past few weeks that demanded my attention. 1. My mom injured her knee and needed me to help her, so I did for about two weeks. 2. I finished my fucking project from hell.

I have to give a presentation on it Friday but then I'm going to be DONE with that fucking thing and the last class of this MLIS and I cannot describe in human language what it has taken for me to reach this point looooool lord bless Google Slides I guess

3. I completed two trainings, one to be a mandated reporter (which I already am but the laws have been updated) and one to learn how to prevent school violence and they were long and tedious and annoying to do because I'd already completed both and knew pretty much all the content already from being a public school educator for 10 years but the school where I got my MSEd lost my paperwork so here we are.

4. Secured a practicum / internship, the last missing puzzle piece to unlock my Master of Library and Information Science achievement, so my fatigue-d ass as been exhausting myself daily interning for a fuckin DOPE school librarian who is queer and my age and went to pride with her wife and two daughters and I've learned so much in the past two weeks I don't even know where to begin. So all that is to say, despite my previous promises, obviously, I have not posted any updates to an echo, a stain, nor will I be until at least mid-July because I'm going to sleep for a week once all this shit is wrapped up and my status as a Mistress of Library and Information Scientists is secured.

(Mistress Library and Information Scientist? I need it to be clear that I will not only be a Mistress of Scientists, but also a Scientist myself. If you want to know if my Mistress status will be as a kept woman or as a domme, the answer is yes and I'm currently accepting applications and formal proposals via asks and dms/pms/whatever tumblr calls them. Unnamed Sequel (in planning stage)

Unlike the Varia survival guide, this work will hopefully have plot and a coherent story line. I’m still very much in the idea finding phase, so no clue when this is going to be published.

The Menu (2022)

The Menu is a delectably unhinged horror-thriller. Even if you can guess what sinister culinary delights are on their way, you’ll never figure out every detail until the last moment. This movie has so many little revelations about its characters that knowing everyone’s fate ahead of time might make it as fun to rewatch as the initial, surprising viewing.

Foodie Tyler Ledford (Nicholas Hoult), his date, Margot (Anya Taylor-Joy), and several other guests arrive at an exclusive restaurant on a private island. They’ve booked a meal with celebrity chef Julian Slowik (Ralph Fiennes), who delivers an unsettling monologue and then serves courses that reveal this meal will be like none other.

Earlier this year, I watched Hunger. The films are only similar in two ways: they both feature chefs in prominent roles and avoid making the food being served appealing. It's the first sign that something is off with the dinner and/or the people. Tyler, for instance. He’s obsessed with Chef Slowik. His fanaticism makes you not like him - or the chef, in fact. Slowick is undeniably talented… but he’s forgotten that cooking is about making food for people to enjoy. It’s not about making statements about the futility of the daily struggle, or whatever. His “genius” seems more like pretentiousness at best and insanity at worst. At least Tyler seems to know what he’s talking about when he explains to his date why this dish needs to be eaten this way or how these ingredients have been selected to complement each other. Business partners Soren (Arturo Castro), Dave (Mark St. Cyr) and Bryce (Rob Yang) are there to show off; they only care about how prohibitively expensive the food is. Washed-up movie star George Diaz (John Leguizamo) wants to learn - or at least that’s what he’s telling his assistant, Felicity (Aimee Carrero). Actually, he wants to revitalize his career via an eating tour-type reality TV show. Also attending are wealthy regulars Richard and Anne Leibrandt (Reed Birney and Judith Light). He seems up to something because he’s giving Margot awkward looks. Finally, there's food critic Lillian Bloom (Janet McTeer) and her yes-man editor Ted (Paul Adelstein). How they fit in with this crowd isn't hard to figure out.

Out of everyone, the person you like the most is easily Margot because she doesn’t belong. She doesn’t have money, she doesn’t have “refined tastes”, she was a last-minute invite (something the staff seem concerned about) and the person that resembles the audience the most. This crowd of people, the weird air that’s emanating from the kitchen and Slowik’s descriptions of the dishes scream "Get out!" but what's going on?

We find out relatively quickly that the chef and his staff… have become more than a little unhinged. The why is the fun part, as is discovering what their ultimate goal is. Bit by bit, you learn all about Tyler, Margot, the chef, the investors, the critics, etc. The revelations recontextualize conversations you heard earlier or give a whole new context to something you noticed a couple of scenes back. You put yourself in the people's shoes as they realize they're trapped on this island. What would you do? Who would you reach out to for help? What would you say to get yourself out of this? You try to predict which of these people - if any - will escape, how, what detail you might’ve dismissed earlier that could be the key, etc. It’s a fun puzzle to piece together and often darkly funny. Tyler, for instance. He’s so into this experience that he is determined not to let anything ruin it. You start to wonder if he’s not insane himself. As you find reasons why everyone should get their comeuppance, Margot stands out more and more. This makes her part in this story even harder to understand.

The one aspect of The Menu that doesn’t quite work is the ending. It isn’t a complete write-off, but there comes a point where several characters accept everything Slowik has said and decide to go along with it. Their reactions don’t match what we saw previously. As the movie lays out all of its cards on the table, we’re supposed to feel a certain way about some of the guests, like George Diaz and Felicity, or Mrs. Leibrandt and the film never convinced me. It’s almost like the story by Will Tracy (who wrote the screenplay with Seth Reiss) could’ve ended in one of two ways. One made more sense and the other was funnier, so that’s what they decided to go with. Normally, that’d be the right choice, but this is a dark comedy, so “funnier” is a relative term and even though it is funny, it doesn’t add up. Right before that final decision, however, this is a devilishly clever film.

I may have mixed emotions about the conclusion, but I'm sure that's exactly the reaction director Mark Mylod wanted. The Menu is a ghoulish essay about fine dining and the points it makes could easily be extended to other industries. It takes things to such extremes you’ll have a great time cackling while rubbing your hands in mischief - when you’re not horrified, of course. (December 5, 2023)

The last anon made me think about how long between each project has taken the material further and further away from the source. Yiffany was for sure a late addition that 'looked cool' but ultimately was a joke. The audience has taken a wild turn in lauding the new updates and JR's team even if half of them can't answer a question coherently in an AMA. I don't get it. The writing is just BAD, I've seen better fan comics than this piece of trash.

I thought maybe my sense of humour had changed, but I still find Homestuck OG to be entertaining if not outdated in its language.

I think we're all expecting something different from the other person with HS2, for example myself there's a core story complete and available to read with a wiki full of canon material they could have used. And by used, I mean kept the characters in line with what we expect.

I think this whole story would be better if it wasn't Homestuck, as it is now the story could swap to some alternate earth D and it wouldn't do anything to the story or to what timeline we're in. The kids in Candy were unnecessary, we already had the Beta kids we don't need another 4-kid teen journey. John could have realized the retcon was a glitch they would reverse. Accept some deaths from alternate timelines and take control away from the Cherubs. Make something cathartic and along the way that's worth looking forward to. Make the story about the EXISTING CHARACTERS AS WE LEFT THEM IN THE COMIC.

The epilogues were a mistake, the toblerone wish was a mistake, and this is what happens when you crowd source a project to unhinged mental illness and just say 'yes' to everything like a shit parent.

I wouldn't say the author(s) are bad, I just think this reeks of clout chasing. Like JR is fishing in Hussie's trash for just a lick of a discarded soda. Like he can wrangle the same fanbase and energy instead of taking an adult step back and ask themselves "what could be better. Where should we start. What is our GOAL." So Dirk is the Villain and Calliope too, but what are the true stakes, are they even doing anything?

I'll be charitable and posit this project is too big for the current directors and their talent. Instead we get a mess of fan demands in a disaster of media. Even when Homestuck was falling apart it wasn't this bad.

Adding in with Jane as a villain, that it makes THREE people the story needs to focus on as well. I can't even say Karkat trying to protect his race is meaningful if we BARELY see him interact with other trolls. What is even his role in Earth C besides being Dave's boyfriend? He's not like The Signless since apparently he, the narrative, or Hussie says Karkat GAVE UP on fulfilling his ancestor's role. So he can't be a leader leader in that sense prior to the war. They really could have just left it after the credits and let people decide their own ending. They could have handled the license with Viz Media better when they were publishing the physical books to keep some relevance. But instead, it became an empty shell of its former self.

What made you ship it? It has a lot of elements I enjoy in messy, crazy dynamics. Power imbalance, mentor/mentee weirdness. Fox's...everything (which I find extremely compelling and amazing). David being a bit younger and more fresh and caught up in both the man's orbit and the thought of who he is/wants to be as a person. And really, how do you listen to "hurt me more" and not find yourself open to brain rot territory?

What are your favorite things about the ship? Most of what I stated above, but I also think that there's less imbalance than it seems. I think younger David was certainly more reckless but uncertain and beginning to realize the type of person he is and who he is capable of being. I can imagine him being swept away with the older guy but not to the point where he is fully out of control or an unwitting second party. NO, he has no way of understanding fully exactly what the hell he's getting himself into, bu he's hardly helpless. I also think this was a pretty defining moment for David, and possibly one of the first 'serious' things he experienced in terms of feelings (however he might choose to define it, there's no goopey feelings being admitted from either of them here). It's messy and a little crazy and completely unhinged but I believe Fox had a very real and lasting impact on Dave. If it was possible to understand what goes on in Frank's head (whenever he has those memories/has any self awareness) I imagine it would be an equally jumbled, impactful set of feelings. Fascinating to explore.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? I am no authority on whether it's unpopular or not, but this is one of those ships to me that is like, 'meaningful without being nice'. This isn't to say their feelings aren't legit, or that it's not important, but as I stated above: there's no mushiness here. It's toxic and confusing at times and can be a see-saw of vaguely consensual territory but I don't think that lessens the impact, or is necessary just all 'horrible and shouldn't have happened'. I think it meant something to them in the environment they had. And that environment was 'hot disaster with disastrous people at the helm'.

37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?

oh this is an interesting question... maybe pecking order? it might be because it's the third fic in the series, or because guardiancest shippers are few and far between these days, or maybe even the vomiting tag lmao but for some reason it does not have nearly as much traction as the previous two fics, which is a shame, because i love it dearly! david going kind of completely unhinged as he tries to deal with any new feelings he may or may not be having... bro dealing with that the best way he knows how (not backing down At All)...

alternatively each heart touched but that's just my plug for everyone to go try cultist simulator, actually, i fuckin love that game. it's confusing and weird but it's FLAVORFUL and honestly that's all i want.

39. Is any aspect of your writing process inspired by other writers or people? If so, who?

OH YES. i see you, you little scamp, because now i am morally obligated to concede that my characterization of MANY characters is informed by the great fanfic writers that came before. you, for instance!! and geometrician's dualshock desertbloom is very informative of my bro characterization.

i am not super sure some of the other blogs i draw inspo from would appreciate the shout out so i'll keep that to myself, but know this: if you have written strilonde fanfiction or we have ever spoken in depth about the characters, i have probably drawn some measure of inspiration from your fics or the things we talked about, because that's how the creative spirit works!

i think that a lot of fandom in general is also often built upon the backs of old concepts and fanon. some of that has gotten torn down over time, like... god, specifically all i can think of is dave rn. like common fanon used to be that he was literally too cool for school and now it's generally accepted that actually that was a massive front and How Did Anyone Buy Into That. i think that maybe some of us have flipped a little too hard in the opposite direction and made dave like. Soft Baby-fied? but i feel that's also a very fandom thing to have happen lmao. oh to woobify your faves for fun and profit. no harm in it but i do think it's very interesting!

you know i think the most recent experience i had like that is with your words destroyed my planet, explicitly because i want to be able to plot out and execute longfic like this person can. it's a cool fic!

42. Have you ever received a comment that particularly stood out to you for whatever reason?

i've gotten a few comments that have stuck with me! the one you sent me on discord made me CRY (in a good way no worries) but if we're talking purely public on ao3...

there was one comment interrogating the like. NATURE of david in my demonstuck series and how i explained it in the fic that was honestly SO interested and gave me a lot to think about.

also someone told me one of my fics made them jizz instantly or something like that which was SO FUNNY to me as an ace person who does not really write or read smut to be horny about it most of the time. why do i? i dont know. it's Interesting, i guess??? like yes!!! CHARACTERS!! smushing our barbie dolls together!!! YES!!! i am EMOTIONALLY TITILLATED

We took an evening tour of some of the most unhinged Halloween decorations in Franklin, Tennessee. We weren't sure if Juniper would be spooked, but when confronted with a potentially scary animatronic, she simply roared at it.

No trip outside the house is complete without a stop at the nearest Dave & Buster's. Juniper especially enjoyed their immersive VR experience.

We belong to the horseplay school of child development.

We are now back in Asheville, where (non-potable) water service has been restored. When we pulled off at our exit, she exclaimed, "Home! Yay!" She loves visiting new parks, but nothing beats her old neighborhood haunt.

Ok, so with the upcoming release of DAVe, aka Dragon Age Veilguard I am getting all my Wardens Hawkes and Inquisitors cleaned up so I can jump into the next game with their storylines kinda fresh.

I have 3 completed runs of Inquisition, when I see complete, I mean shards, mosaics collectibles all completed.

I also have 5 in progress runs that I've been either procrastinating and/or constantly restarting cuz I keep forgetting the plotline and the story beats I want to hit, like who am I recruiting, in what order, are we friendly or more indifferent etc etc.

Before restarting their runs for the nth time I decided to do a bit of inventory of my Wardens and Hawkes

I have 4 completed DAO runs, each of them romanced someone. I have some other 'theoretical Wardens' in the Keep for setting some precedent and because there are Origins I am not that fond off (like the Jerk Aeducan, who is the basis to one of my Inquisitor's plotlines)

Therefore I have 4 'canon' Hawkes that go with each 'canon' Warden plus a couple of theoretical Hawkes (one for example, Romanced Sebastian and sided with the Templars, this Hawke is the predecessor to my Inquisitor who romanced Cassandra)

Well, so I don't loose 'track' of what saga I am playing I tend to 'link' my PC with common traits. For example my Mage Trilogy has all girls, with brown eyes with brown hair. My Naïve Trilogy (aka they all romanced the problematic mages) has all redheads.

As I was cleaning up my Hawkes I realized I made a terrible lapse of judgement with my two Warrior Hawkes, therefore their Inquisition plotlines are somehow muddled up. See, so I have these two Sagas

My supposedly Rouge romancer Abrielle (whose predecessor Ambrea Brosca romanced Leliana) romanced sweet Merrill which gives her the double wammy of having to comply more with Meredith since her sister is in the Circle and she is bedding a mage, like what was I thinking! And now I don't have the heart to remake their storylines since my lizard brain had them pinged as they are now
