Adam Horovitz is here (as Adam O’Keefe) on a tragi-comic cover of Wild Cherry’s Play That Funky Music - soon he “came up from the minors” and joined that other band, making hip hop history. The Atlanta-based rock band fronted by vocalist Mattiel Brown, recently released their new limited-edition Double Cover 7-inch which features dynamic covers of the aforementioned Beastie Boys’ “Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun,” off their iconic 1989 LP Paul’s Boutique, and The Clash’s “Guns Of Brixton,” from their classic 1979 album London Calling. Sharp and forceful, both tracks are perfect matches for Mattiel’s explosive energy and are available for pre-order from Bandcamp to ship in August.
