Severance has been generating huge amounts of profit for apple which explains why they suddenly amped up their marketing for s2. the most important part of this article imo is the fact that Severance didn't gain significant viewership until a year after the finale of s1, which meant a majority of people watched in 2023 instead of 2022. with s3 already confirmed prior to s2 airing, it seems apple is aware that it takes time for a show to gain viewership and that the original tv model of dropping episodes weekly is much more favorable than an entire season dropping all at once. i really hope that if they continue to treat their shows with the respect and time they deserve to grow that 1. the service in general starts to gain popularity as a streaming network (it is the smallest one compared to the others) 2. they can be the home to more original shows that have potential 3. hopefully with their numbers change the landscape of streaming to not be so reliant on initial numbers when a show drops

incredible to have a tv show that's not just good but phenomenal, and coming out weekly so I can actually engage in speculation and each episode has time to breathe. genuinely did not think they made shows like that anymore!
saw someone complain that episode 2 of severance lost momentum or w/e and I guess maybe that's true if 1. you forgot that this is a drama series about characters talking mostly and 2. you don't see the crossfade between Burt/the drone shot of Milchick on his motorbike and start hooting & hollering. the excitement is in seeing them pull shit like the shot of the fish tank with one fish on either side of the line, or that deep dream goat painting in the intro, or… idk man every shot of this show is doing SOMETHING interesting, in terms of character dynamics, just in terms of broad aesthetics...
it's good! shouldn't have taken three years between seasons, but it's good!

I love that severance is being released weekly. there's just something about going nuts over a single episode each week and completely dissecting it that I miss

i keep seeing posts the severance tag joking about how it’s crazy that severance is really gripping even though it takes place in a “normal office setting” that looks business stock photos or whatever. and they are driving me insane because that it’s NOT TRUE AT ALL! it’s the opposite of true!! severance is visually stunning and super stylized a really distinct way. to say severance looks like a “normal office building” is insane to me. even the cinematography is really artistic and deliberate and intense… it doesn’t look like a stock photo of a normal office and that’s the whole point! it’s a part of the style and the setting and integral to the identity of the show!!!

severance feels like such an antidote to the "what if the curtains were just blue attitude" everything so clearly deliberate and full of meaning you can't avoid it you HAVE to ask and think. how could you not. how could you notttt

the worst thing about severance for me is that once i’ve seen it nothing quite scratches that itch that it gives me except for more severance
