Prioritize Progress, fighting China is Delusional and Madness – Pantaleon Alvarez
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f1fe589487919745fcd25feffd28fa62/88a4fc2bccdc1b45-d1/s540x810/694daf320b2455eb145e4371aeff68833f35ef30.jpg)
I’m now a big Fan of Davao Del Norte Congressman Pantaleon Alvarez after he after he CORRECTLY pointed out that the Bobong Bong Marcos (BBM) Administration should prioritize crucial Domestic Issues than quarreling with China over Territorial Disputes in the South China Sea (SCS). Here is the entirety of his Statements about that:
“While it is true that International Relations are undeniably important, our primary Duty lies in ensuring the prosperity and well-being of our People. Let us stop this madness and delusion that we fight China in an armed Conflict as part of the Frontline of U.S. Geopolitical Interests.
‘Wag natin kalimutan, iniwan din ng mga Amerikano ang Ukraine, Iraq, at Afghanistan’ (Let us not forget, the Americans also left Ukraine, Iraq and Afghanistan). I believe that by channeling our Efforts towards addressing Domestic Challenges such as Poverty Reduction, Food Security, Inflation, among others, we can build a more stable Foundation for our Nation’s future.
‘Lahat ng bagay, nasa tamang oras. Wag kalimutan’ (All Things have their proper time. Don’t forget), external power is an extension of domestic strength. So long as we are internally weak, let’s not get ahead ourselves and prod for Conflict the cost of which in lives of both Civilian and Military personnel, as well as National Treasure, we cannot yet afford.
I guess it is better to advocate for the independence of peaceful people of Mindanao and free the People of the South from a miserable devastation, as dictated by the North, so that we Mindanawons can be allowed to chart our own Destiny.
I suggest that they should think thoroughly their decisions. I am of the position that it is better for the Government to provide more Jobs, ensure Food Security, and ultimately, develop the Economy for the betterment of the Filipino People.
The Positioning of the present Administration unnecessarily places our Soldiers and Coast Guard in danger. We have to realize that if War erupts, what is the End Game Scenario? The American Century is ending, and the resurgence of China is clear. If we go for this, how many Widows, Widowers, and Orphans will be left?
‘Hindi nga kaya ng gobyerno bigyan sila ng sustento. Sabi pa nga hindi kaya bayaran yung Pension ng Military and Uniformed Personnel, tapos ngayon naman parang humihingi tayo ng susunod na Mamasapano’ (The Government can’t even pay for the Pension of the Military and Uniformed Personnel, and now it is as if we are asking for another “Mamasapano”). It’s misplaced madness. Let us seek Partnerships that unite instead of divide. Let us build, and not destroy.”

Tricycle Drivers and Security Guards engage in Public Wrestling Fight outside Gaisano Mall in Tagum City
TAGUM, DAVAO DEL NORTE -- A heated dispute between 2 tricycle drivers and a group of security guards turned into a wild public wrestling match outside Gaisano Mall in Brgy. Magugpo East on Thursday (August 24th, 2023 -- Tagum local time). The clash erupted due to impatience over commuting queues, and the escalating tensions led to a physical confrontation witnessed by numerous onlookers.
According to some witnesses individuals, the incident began when both tricycle drivers, who were waiting in a long queue for passengers near the mall's entrance, became increasingly frustrated with the slow-moving line. As tempers flared, the 2 drivers began exchanging heated words with each other and the security guards, who were responsible for managing the crowd.
youtube
(via ABS-CBN News / YT Video)
A video obtained from a concerned netizen on Facebook captured the moment the disagreement turned physical, with the tricycle drivers and security guards engaging in a chaotic wrestling match in full view of stunned bystanders. The altercation quickly escalated as punches were thrown and individuals forcefully grappled with each other, causing chaos and panic to grip the immediate area.
In an unexpected twist, some of those involved in the brawl used moves that were reminiscent of those seen in World Wrestling Entertainment. WWE, an American sports and entertainment company is known for staging wrestling matches featuring athletes with flamboyant personas on Raw and Smackdown, per the likes of John Felix Anthony Cena, Oscar Gutierrez Rubio (Rey Mysterio), Glenn Thomas Jacobs (Kane), etc. Experts suggest that the familiarity with WWE moves may have influenced the intensity and theatricality of the public wrestling fight in Tagum City.
Local authorities were immediately notified and promptly arrived at the scene to break up the brawl. They successfully managed to diffuse the situation and apprehended both tricycle drivers and several security guards involved in the physical altercation. Preliminary investigations suggest that the escalating impatience and long-standing tension between the tricycle drivers and security guards led to the brawl. Further legal action is expected as local authorities examine CCTV or Facebook footage and gather statements from witnesses.
Officials of Gaisano Mall in Tagum City expressed concerns over the incident and assured the public that stricter security measures would be implemented to prevent similar incidents. Management of the mall stressed their commitment to safety and well-being.
The local communities of Tagum remains vigilant while the investigation continues, and they hope that this incident serves as a reminder to practice patience and maintain a peaceful public space environment.

📣CROWDFUNDING FOR TWISTER ‼ [CLOSED]
Twister is a domestic shorthair (puspin) residing in Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte. He has been in our care for five (5) years after picking him up from the streets and is our eldest male furbaby. He has been with us through many ups and downs and has witnessed our growth over the years. Ever since his first year with us, he has been riddled with all sorts of ailments, both minor and life-threatening ones. But we have managed to give him proper care through all of them. Now, we are faced with a new challenge and despite our best efforts, the time has come for us to recognize the limit of our financial capabilities. We fear that if we don’t seek out help from others, we might not be able to provide him the care he deserves this time.
So now we are raising funds for his dental extractions, CBC, and Bloodwork Chemistries. We appeal to your generosity for a donation to this cause.
We understand that we are facing hard times and that everyone has their own problems to face, thus, we welcome any amount or well-wishes you can share with us.
We have already chosen a reputable veterinary clinic in Davao City that offers these services with relatively affordable charges. We are hoping to bring him in for the procedure within the month or at the earliest time in February to prevent a greater danger to his health.
We are accepting donations via Gcash and bank transfer. The QR code for the former is provided below while the details for the latter will be provided via direct message as a measure of personal protection. Any donations and other transactions relevant to the cause will be recorded and shared to the public from time to time for transparency and as a way for us to share the generous souls that enabled Twister’s journey to recovery possible. We also welcome and encourage private messages for any questions, concerns, recommendations, and suggestions about this cause.
Thank you for taking the time to read and we apologize for the inconvenience. We wish everyone and their furbabies good health and a happy life.

Fearless Forecast Time
It’s pageant time again for my blog. The Miss Universe Philippines 2023 preliminaries just concluded today and I can now properly make a prediction on who I think deserves to win the coveted crown.
So... I'm just gonna make this real quick.
If I’m to place my bet on who would be the next Miss Universe Philippines, I’d place it on these five:
Cebu Province • Cavite • Bohol • Pampanga • Makati
However, anyone from this following group can sneak up there, depending on what happens on finals night:
Pasig • Baguio • Bulacan • Davao Oriental • Sorsogon
Also, I wouldn’t mind seeing in the finals the Taguig, Negros Oriental, Eastern Samar, Capiz, and Parañaque.
My last and ultimate wish is that—although I personally think they may have slimmer chances than anyone mentioned above—for Zambales, Agusan del Norte, and Benguet (especially BENGUET) to get a miracle and somehow make it through.

Region 11: The Southern Jewel of the Philippines
Deep in the southernmost reaches of the Philippines lies Region 11, or the Davao Region—a land of breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and unparalleled opportunities. Composed of Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and the independent city of Davao, this region is a thriving hub of natural wonders and modern development. Though far from the capital, its beauty and potential make it one of the Philippines' most compelling destinations.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6a6da7e495f7cea3cbac9e8a4d81a64c/18525ab113cd5eae-b8/s540x810/90aab745e7d24f91d571e801351d052cb77d0d57.jpg)
The Crown Jewel: Davao City
At the heart of Region 11 is Davao City, a bustling metropolis that combines urban sophistication with the tranquility of nature. Known as the "Durian Capital of the Philippines," the city is famous for its iconic fruit, but there's so much more to discover. It is home to Mount Apo, the Philippines' tallest peak, a must-visit for mountaineers and nature enthusiasts.
Davao City is also one of the safest cities in the country, with its clean streets, efficient transportation, and a local government that prioritizes sustainability. It’s a melting pot of cultures, offering visitors a chance to experience traditional Mindanaoan hospitality alongside modern comforts.
Nature’s Playground
Region 11 is a paradise for nature lovers. Davao Oriental boasts stunning coastlines, including Dahican Beach, a surfer’s haven with powdery sands and turquoise waters. Cape San Agustin, with its historic lighthouse and rugged cliffs, offers breathtaking views of the Davao Gulf.
Davao del Norte, meanwhile, is home to Samal Island, an idyllic escape just a ferry ride from Davao City. With its white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant marine life, it’s no surprise that Samal is a favorite among both local and international tourists.
For those seeking adventure, Davao de Oro has the enchanting Aliwagwag Falls, a cascading masterpiece of nature, while the forests of Davao del Sur hide countless trails and rivers waiting to be explored.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6a6da7e495f7cea3cbac9e8a4d81a64c/18525ab113cd5eae-b8/s540x810/90aab745e7d24f91d571e801351d052cb77d0d57.jpg)
Culture and Heritage
Region 11 is a cultural treasure chest. The region celebrates its diversity through festivals like the Kadayawan Festival in Davao City, a grand thanksgiving for nature’s bountiful harvest. Here, you’ll see colorful street dances, vibrant costumes, and showcases of indigenous traditions.
The region is also home to several indigenous communities, including the Bagobo, Mandaya, and Mansaka peoples, who preserve their heritage through intricate crafts, dances, and rituals. Visitors can witness their artistry in traditional weaving and beadwork, or listen to stories passed down through generations.
The Land of Durian and More
No trip to Region 11 would be complete without indulging in its culinary offerings. Durian, with its strong aroma and creamy taste, is an acquired taste that many visitors end up loving. For the less adventurous, the region offers a bounty of fruits like mangosteen, pomelo, and marang.
Seafood is also abundant, from fresh tuna to delectable crabs and prawns. And for a sweet treat, try Davao’s world-renowned chocolates, made from cacao beans grown in the region’s fertile soil.
A Region on the Rise
Region 11 is not just a land of beauty—it’s a land of promise. The region is a key driver of Mindanao’s economy, with thriving industries like agriculture, fisheries, and tourism. Investments in infrastructure and eco-tourism continue to pour in, making it a beacon of progress.
Yet even as it grows, the Davao Region remains committed to sustainability. Local communities work hand-in-hand with the government to protect its natural resources, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy its wonders.
The Final Frontier of the Philippines
Region 11 may be geographically at the southernmost part of the Philippines, but it is by no means the end. Instead, it’s a gateway—to adventure, to culture, to a way of life that’s uniquely its own.
Whether you’re hiking up Mount Apo, diving into the pristine waters of Samal, or simply enjoying the warmth of its people, the Davao Region is a place where every journey feels like a new beginning.

Malaki vs. People, G.R. No. 221075, 15 Nov 2021
In the case of Malaki v. People, a married couple's claim of protection under the Muslim Code is rejected as they are found guilty of bigamy for contracting a second marriage without legally dissolving their first marriage, emphasizing the importance of complying with legal requirements for marriage and limitations on multiple marriages under Philippine law.
Facts:
Petitioners Francis D. Malaki, Sr. and Jacqueline Mae A. Salanatin-Malaki were charged with bigamy.
Francis was previously married to Nerrian Maningo-Malaki on March 26, 1988, under the Iglesia ni Cristo rites in Panabo City, Davao del Norte, and they had two children.
In 2005, Francis abandoned his family. Nerrian discovered that Francis had contracted a second marriage with Jacqueline on June 18, 2005, solemnized by a Municipal Trial Court judge.
Francis and Jacqueline admitted to the second marriage but claimed exemption from bigamy charges due to their conversion to Islam prior to their marriage.
The Regional Trial Court found them guilty of bigamy on May 7, 2012, stating the Muslim Code did not apply as Nerrian was not a Muslim.
The Court of Appeals affirmed this decision on April 24, 2015. Subsequent appeals and motions for reconsideration were denied, leading to a Petition for Review under Rule 45.
Issue:
Whether petitioners Francis D. Malaki, Sr. and Jacqueline Mae A. Salanatin are guilty of bigamy.
Whether a party to a civil marriage who converts to Islam and subsequently marries under the Muslim Code is exempt from criminal liability for bigamy.
Ruling:
The Supreme Court denied the Petition for Review on Certiorari, affirming the Court of Appeals' decision.
Petitioners Francis D. Malaki, Sr. and Jacqueline Mae A. Salanatin were found guilty beyond reasonable doubt of bigamy.
The penalty was modified: each petitioner was sentenced to an indeterminate penalty of two years and four months of prision correccional as minimum to eight years and one day of prision mayor as maximum.
Ratio:
The Court confirmed that all elements of bigamy were present: Francis was legally married to Nerrian, the first marriage was not dissolved, and he contracted a second marriage with Jacqueline.
The defense of conversion to Islam and marriage under Muslim rites was rejected, as the Muslim Code applies only if both parties are Muslims or the male is a Muslim and the marriage is solemnized under Muslim law.
Nerrian was not a Muslim, and the first marriage was not dissolved, so the Civil Code and the Revised Penal Code applied.
The Muslim Code provisions on subsequent marriages require the wife's knowledge and consent, which were not obtained in this case.
Conversion to Islam to circumvent bigamy laws is not permissible and does not eliminate criminal liability.
The decision was grounded in the 1987 Philippine Constitution, which protects indigenous cultural communities' rights but does not allow the evasion of general laws under the pretext of religious freedom.

SUBJECT: Early Adulthood Interview ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DISCLAIMER: All the photos, videos, or any recording taken for documentation during the interview are for EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. Consent was properly delivered before conducting the whole interview. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Adulthood is the gradual acceptance of responsibilities that were once unthinkable. It’s less about age and more about seeing yourself in the mirror of your own actions." - Haruki Murakami Growing old is never easy. As we step in the age of 20's, we face certain responsibilities, and we often feel like we need to tend for our own. Adulthood is where we crave for independence while also crawling to survive. It is where selecting a suitable partner happens, planning a family, or even planning to rear children. Dominic is no different... Dom, aged 21, is a student from Davao Del Norte State College. During an online interview conducted by two psychology students from Davao Doctors College, Inc., he shares his personal experiences as he enters the journey of being an adult. In his younger years, Dom showed an interest in videography and photography. He shared that he was carefree during his teenage years but is now trying to be more serious as he embraces the changes and responsibilities brought by adulthood. Living with his parents, Dominic admitted that he somehow feels guilty in depending on them financially and realized that in his age, he should be more independent and should try to look for ways to tend his basic needs and wants. He said, "100 Pesos ra baya akong baon taga-adlaw. Unsaon nako pagpalit sa akong wants? Diba? Ulaw kaayo na akong parents pay mubayad ana." Translation: My allowance is only 100 pesos per day. How can I buy my wants? Right? It is embarrassing for me to ask my parents to pay. To meet his needs, he established himself a career as a freelance videographer, photographer, and editor, creating quite the reputation to be invited in events by his clients. He also finds it very fulfilling to provide for himself while studying because this allows him to contribute for projects in school without being a burden to his parents. Like any other, Dom expressed difficulties in adjusting to a new mindset but somehow finds it bearable because of his parents, friends and loved ones. Despite that fact, his relationship with his friends changed. Since they are all now focused on their own lives, spending time with them is not the same as before. In his words, "Unlike sauna, pirme ra jud mi gakita. Madali-dali ra ug duol atong highschool pa mi." Translation: Unlike in the past, we always bump into each other. In high school, I can easily talk to them. He also disclosed having a long-distance girlfriend from Bukidnon where he believed that even though their perspectives in life differ from one another at times, he still finds her suitable for him because he is convinced that 'opposites attract'. At his age, Dom believes that he is not ready to settle yet with his girlfriend and turns his focus more on establishing a solid foundation in life and achieving his dream to tour around the world. However, in the future, Dom plans on having his own children. He admitted that being the only son in his family, he is pressured to continue his father's legacy. He said, "Maka-pressure kay ako ra baya isa anak. Walay makapadayon sa apelyido sa akong papa kundi ako ra jud." Translation: I feel pressured because I am my father's only son. No one can continue my father's legacy but me. The interview concludes with him pointing out that having a hands-on and god-fearing partner in the future is a must in building or starting a new family. Because for him, having a partner with those qualities will help him raise a well-mannered child.
"Growth is a process. May you reach whatever you are dreaming of, Dom! One step at a time." - MisoCares Caption: Miguel Augustine V. Sulamin | BSPSYCH 2-82A Documentation: Sophia Ericka P. Sienes | BSPSYCH 2-82A
