Daryl kept close to his sister the entire welcome into this community and because heâd have to translate for some of the people. Especially Deanna.
âWould you be willing to teach us? We have an ASL book in our libraryâ
This place really has it all huh Y/N signs with her good hand to Daryl as he shrugs for the most part. She nods to Deannaâs asking as Deanna smiles warmly.
âGreat! We can arrange such tomorrow but as for a job for youâŚweâll still have to discuss such. We have a surgeon in our community that would be more than happy to take a look at that for youâ Deanna refers to Y/Nâs broken fingers from the time with the claimers watching her cover them with her other hand. She didnât want to be reminded of them, even if thereâs a reminder living on her.
Deanna took note that Daryl was protective of Y/N just from their interviews. No shit they are siblings. But she knew that if she messed with one, she was messing with the otherâŚand worse.
âWhereâs your sister go?â Rick asks Daryl about to enter their new residence when he noticed the archer skinning the possum he found outside the gates.
âInside. Sheâs checking everything to make sure nothing surprises usâ
âBy herself?â
âYou donât want to see her when sheâs in painâ
âSheâs in pain?â Rick frowns thinking one of the Alexandrians must have hurt her further than what she has already endured.
âYeah, but itâs her hand. We both know itâs bound to hurt. Just. The boss lady made her go get checked out by the docâŚY/N didnât let me go with her, next thing yknow the doc popped one of her fingers back in placeâ Daryl rips the skin off tossing it on the railing to the house. âSheâs scary when sheâs in pain. Has been sinceâŚyeah. Anyway, if she tosses somethinâ at yea. I told you soâ
Rick took what Daryl said with caution as he enters the house not finding Y/N immediately. He checked the place out himself finding some of the groupsâ belongings in the living room and additional stuff provided by Alexandria for new comers. He half expected for Y/N to come out and smack him for the unexpected entrance but when he turned into the living room he saw her knelt down by the floor vent.
âY/N, you feeling alright?â Rick frowns walking over to her seeing her give a thumbs up with her good hand. âAlrightâŚthen what are you doing?â
Y/N moved out of the way to reveal that the wooden panel can open along with the vent lid. In case they needed to hide anything and thatâs when Rick knew he could trust her with his suspicions on this place.
The first couple nights everybody was settling into the one house just for the beginning. Daryl kept to the window next to the crib that was given to them for Judith watching Y/N check on her every now and then.
âIâm gonna sleep outside. In case of anythinââ
Take the sleeping bag from the closet, Iâll get the lantern I found in the garage Y/N took her time to sign such to her brother even if all she wanted to do was scream at how frustrating it was to not be able to use her other hand.
Daryl wasnât going to argue with the others and frankly, Y/N wasnât going to let them argue with him either. Itâs a new community and they had their fair share of fucked ones that no one can blame him for wanting to keep watch outside.
As the Dixons were getting settled or more so Y/N helping Daryl get settled outside. Everyone else was getting settled in the living room and finally turning in for the night.
âYou look cozyâ Carol smiles stepping out of the house seeing Daryl lay out his sleeping bag while Y/N turned the lantern off for those starting to go to bed inside given they turned the lights off. âHow long are you going to sleep outside?â
âUntil I better understand this placeâ Daryl took out one of his homemade cigarettes and before he found his lighter, Y/N had lit hers the second she saw him take a cig out. âThanksâ
âSmart that youâre doing such. But what we really need is our guns backâ Carol states right as Rick stepped out in a whole new/old look that part of him doesnât really like anymore. âWell hello there officerâ
You clean up nice Y/N smiles signing to Rick watching him nervously rub the back of his neck trying his best to contain his happiness when she said such.
âThanksâŚâ Rick almost forgot why he stepped out to begin with and cleared his throat to bring himself back. âThinkinâ we can start sleeping in our own homesâ
âIâll be holding the Dixons or at least Y/N while her brother camps outsideâ Carol laughs quietly in mind for the other residences. âBut we need to get our guns backâ
âI agreeâ
It wonât be that difficult Y/N chimes in being met with confused expressions. Deanna gave me a job in the pantry. Firmly believes she thinks since I donât talk that that job would be less communicative on my end. People come in. Check out stuff. Donât really need me to talk back
âThis will be easier than I thoughtâ
It was Darylâs idea to continue this plan outside the walls of Alexandria the next day. To avoid anyone overhearing what they are saying. Rick left the community with Y/N given she took care of Judith in the morning and part of him didnât want to miss any moment.
âY/N doesnât have to risk her position in its entirety. All she has to do is leave the latch open to the window and Iâll go in and outâ Carol starts with. âThen she can remove their existence in the record to avoid suspicionsâ
âTheyâll instantly go after Y/N if shit goes southâ
I can take care of myself, D
âI donât care. Theyâre ignorant and it takes a while to learn sign. HellâŚDeanna might even think youâre faking if anyone gets caughtâ
âI wonât let that happenâ Rick interrupts resting a hand on Y/Nâs shoulder reassuringly. âPromiseâ
Oh she canât help the butterflies just from a small touch.
Y/N beams when he did such and reassured her of her safety, but she can take care of herself when it gets too far. Even might cross her own boundaries for such. She brought her hand to rest on top of his squeezing it before letting it slide off as she left first to go do the job she was asked to do.
The next day was the party and not everyone wanted to go. Daryl of course didnât and when he brought it up to Y/N, he half expected her to try and convince him. Instead she remained silent.
âYou donât have to go if you donât want toâ Daryl frowns nudging Y/N for her attention as she brushes him off. âY/NâŚwhat happenedâ-â
Iâm late for my shift. I have to go Y/N signs before finishing tying her boots and heading straight to the pantry.
Something was offâŚDaryl at first thought it wouldâve been because of the plan regarding the pantry. Then went to the uncertainty of AlexandriaâŚbefore he even thought about delving into the more personal.
âCarolâ Daryl quickly stops her before she got far from the house. âYea ever run into Y/N check on her for me, alright?â
Her face instantly went from happy into worry when he said that. âWhy? What happened?â
âI donât know. She wonât talk to me just. If itâs anythinâ let me knowâ Daryl sighs going inside the house leaving Carol to ponder on such while he decided to investigate her room of anything.
Daryl jumps the gun when it comes to these moments but why was it happening now? The last time was when Merle died.
The pantry is almost always quiet even with two people, but thatâs mainly because only Y/Nâs group knows how to sign to her while the rest of the Alexandrians just talk at her. She was given a notepad from Deannaâs husband Reg after she told him about their new special resident.
Guess she doesnât even want to tryâŚat first
âY/N, Iâm going to go for a couple of hours to help some of the older folk then Iâll relieve yeaâ Olivia smiles watching her nod as she flips through one of the books she brought from the house they were given. âJust holler if you need any-âŚ.Uhm.â She caught herself and it wasnât the first time Y/Nâs heard that or let alone witness someone become awkward immediately. âJust. Iâll be back in a fewâ
Y/N watches Olivia leave the pantry and immediately went to open the latch to the window but more specifically break it apparently. These houses may have not been used but that doesnât mean they donât wear out. She didnât mean to and knew if someone caught on that they would pin it to a new comer. But this meant they can come and go freely during the night.
âHey, Y/Nâ
The poor Dixon flinched to the words before turning to be met with the sheriffâs worried expression.
âSorry I didnâtâŚyou alright?â
Just jumpy. Iâm fine Y/N frowns tossing the latch to the window into the bin as Rick noticed her hand with the broken fingers were now just taped together instead of a splint. Heâs a bit relieved that sheâs healing finally after their encounter with the claimers. Did you need something? She signed after snapping to get his eyes back to hers.
âRight. Uhm. Are you going to this thing tonight?â
Still thinking about it
âRightâŚwell, I hope you do. I wouldâ-The group would really appreciate it. As much as some of us still donât trust this place, others are tryinââŚâ
After years of not speaking you tend to read body language more than what an average person would do and Y/N could just tell he wants her thereâŚeven if itâs not together. Just. There. But something was constricting Y/Nâs thoughts and the pain sheâs been feeling wanted to strike her down.
âYou donât have toâŚI know your brother ainât going and itâs okay ifâ-â
Iâll go, but I donât want to be alone Y/N admits as that sparked a smile on Rickâs face taking it as an opportunity even if the man is out of practice.
âWe can go togetherâŚYeah. I mean. You meâŚand JudithâŚand Carlâ
A quiet giggle escaped Y/N as she smiles up at Rick couldnât help the butterfly feelings.
I will meet you at yours before the party
Rick nods with a smile before leaving. He felt like he won a million dollars but also couldâve been a bit less awkward about it.
The moment Olivia returns to the pantry she noticed Y/N examining a few things as she thought the worse at first but then noticed she written a list on her notepad.
âI can help you find somethingâ Olivia smiles extending her hand for Y/N to give her the notepad.
It was still a few hours before the party and Y/N made her way back to the house carrying a few things that caught her brotherâs attention but he knew Carol was inside and he thought she wouldnât want to be stressed even further by his million of questions.
Even if Carol had plenty of her own but she didnât question since Y/N entered already asking things of her own.
Mixing bowl?
âYeah, a small one?â
Y/N nods setting the supplies she took down on the counter as Carol set the bowl down for her seeing the variety.
âYou making a salve? What happened?â
Nothing that hasnât already happened Y/N frowns putting a little bit of everything in the bowl, being handed a spoon shortly.
âYou know you can trust me with whatever this is for right? Kind of already made you leave the window open risking your position, the least I can do is keep a secretâ
Itâs not a secret from Daryl, and wonât be to others once I go to the party. I just. I donât like looking at it She frowns finishing mixing the salve together as she used to have something in the old world that helped with the inflammation and the itching painâŚ
âYou want help?â
Y/N looks up with a bit of a pleading look.
Carol waited patiently with the salve on her bed as Y/N got dressed in something to make it easier for her friend to see. That thing to be seen was the huge scar on Y/Nâs chest when she finally stepped out of the bathroom after putting a tank top on.
âWoahâŚâ Carol suddenly blurts out as she realizes how off putting that couldâve been quickly apologizing after. âSorry. Iâve..seen my scars just. Wow I have questions.â
Itâs not new news that each Dixon child has their fair share of physical abuse by someone that shouldâve protected them since the second they were born. But the running trend of when one sibling leaves the abuse goes on the next...just continued.
Only thing was when they lost their mother to a house fire, they almost lost Y/N in the process.
If one asked Merle, he always thought Y/N became mute because of that trauma. Being trapped in the fire under a fallen dresser that crushed her chest cavity is the reason for the scar. But Merle is only half right about her muteness. Screaming for a while to no one coming until the fire department came will always be the running nightmare.
But if one asked Daryl how he thinks Y/N became mute. Heâs the right one. Mental trauma manifests differently in people whoâve experienced something traumatic. The fire was the start of Y/N Dixonâs downward spiral. Next of kin was the father, who has a criminal record. This leads to the next Merle, who also has a criminal record. Then left Daryl but he was also just a kid. So social services took Y/N after her accident and she didnât go back to her brothers until she was twelve. That time apart lead her to close in on herself. She didnât talk to anybody and that became normal. It frustrated Merle and confused Daryl but they both were just happy to have their sister back once Merle got some of his shit together to take care of both his younger siblings. Y/N used to either write to communicate with her brothers or be physical with the punching or pointing. It was actually Daryl that suggested and found an ASL book in the city library. Y/N was the smartest Dixon and taught herself pretty quickly that lead to her helping Daryl learn. It was like teaching a brick anything when teaching Merle but he learned enough, besides Daryl translates for her when she signed to anyone who didnât know.
The scar on her chest though, will always remind her of how this all started. Her vocal cords were scarred but she hasnât spoken since forever.
She doesnât know if she still has a voice.
âYou donât have to go to the party, Y/Nâ Carol frowns a few minutes before the party as Y/N signs to her that she promised Deanna and that she was going with Rick and his family. She wonât be alone. Just uncomfortable given Deanna picked her outfit being a dress with a low enough cut to show her scar. Least sheâs wearing a cardigan over it to close it over.
âYou come find me if anything alright?â Daryl was last to chime in one more thing before Y/N headed over to Rickâs next door as he couldnât help but worry about what others gotta say.
I will. You know I will Y/N gave him a smile while leaving to find Rick waiting at the end of the steps with Judith in hand. Someoneâs excited she smiles instantly covering her chest with her cardigan as she made it to his level.
âGuess I am.â Rick smiles watching as Judith leaned toward Y/N wanting her to hold her. âThink she is to but not for the partyâ
Y/N instantly takes Judith into her embrace smiling even more when holding the little one. Judith instantly lays against her getting comfortable which lead to the two finally going to the party and right off this random women came up to them mainly to swoon over the baby but to also plant some seedsâŚor water them.
How old is your daughter?
You two make a lovely couple
She looks so much like you
You look fantastic for someone whoâs had a baby
The little one is very lucky to have you two as parents
Your wife is gorgeous
Y/N couldnât correct them, and Rick didnât seem to want to. She couldnât help the blush to form on her cheeks as she went to sit next to Maggie while still holding the baby. The time apart lead to Y/N watching Rick talk with one of the Alexandrians. More specifically Jessie with her son Sam with her who gave him a stamp.
âThey seem to be hitting it off, but nothing compared to what Iâve been hearing about you and Rickâ Maggie smiles elbowing Y/N watching her try and hide her blush. âWhat? You both arenât correcting people and he hasnât stopped smiling since he came here with youâŚwhatâs stopping you from doing anything?â
I donât want to replaceâŚanyone Y/N admits as she held Judith thinking about Lori and Maggie knew exactly what she meant.
âBut life goes onâŚyouâre allowed to be happyâ
Itâs not too soonâŚ? She frowns at Maggie who was going to ease her concerns when the two heard Sasha lash out. Which felt more like a reality check.
The silence grew in the room as Sasha stood there anxiously that Y/N handed Judith off to Maggie before going to her friend and leaving the party with her. It didnât resume right away, and some part of Y/N didnât want to leaveâŚbut her priority was always to take care of her family.
It wasnât until much later that Rick went to check on Y/N and ask about how Sasha was doing. He half expected her to be asleep and inside but Y/N sat on the porch swing in comfortable clothing smiling warmly when Rick approached her.
âShouldnât have left yea at the partyâ
What do you mean?
âI donât know. Seemed like I gave yea Judith so I could talk to peopleâŚâ
Judith is great company. Iâm never complaining Y/N smiles scooting over for Rick to join her on the swing. Besides. I havenât been feeling that great all dayâŚSasha was my out with that party and I stayed with her until she was well enough to get some sleep
âI didnâtâŚmake you feel like you had to go right? You didnât have toâ He frowns feeling he stepped over a line of some sorts but she knew she was going to go regardless. The only thing that made it easier to go was going with him.
The retired sheriff relaxed when he felt her hand gently take his. Rick squeezes her hand bringing back that smile of his.
âCan I admit somethinâ?â Rick asks watching her nod as he brought his entire self to turn toward her. âIâŚUhâŚfucking hellâŚI donât think I can ever live without yeaâ
It was subtle at first
The way he looks at her waiting for her to look at him and give him that beautiful smile of hers
How sheâs perfect with Judith and caring to Carl
The power she had to her always amazed him
Especially her smarts to help not only her but their family
Y/N is perfect to him, and always has been even when reality takes them all down most days.
He couldnât help but close the space between the two, pressing his lips firmly against hers. Half expecting her to pull away but Y/N held his shirt for a moment keeping the kiss intact before parting.
âI hope that wasnât too farâŚeven if thereâs much more I wanna doâ
The smile that graces her features after such leads to her standing from the porch swing extending her hand for him to take.
Donât wake anyone Y/N smiles even more making him smile just as much before following her inside the house.
As the next morning cameâŚY/N stretches her body sighing as she turns to the other side of her bed finding a note but no sheriff.
Had to check on Judith and go on rounds. Iâll be back later darling - R <3
The warm feeling in her chest grew as she held the note for a moment longer before getting dressed for the day.
The day led to a small crowd surrounding Rick in his enraged state over how blind the Alexandrians were. He was becoming too much and Y/N watched as Michonne drew closer and she stopped her quickly.
Let me
âIf he hurts you, Iâm taking overâ
Deal Y/N frowns pushing past a few people and bringing herself closer to Rick who aimlessly waved his gun around.
Right before Rick could say anything more, he tensed to the hand resting on his shoulder as he turned to be met with Y/Nâs beautiful E/C eyes. Her worried expression never faltered as she didnât sign anything and he didnât say a word. Something switched in him that when she held her hand out, he didnât hesitate to hand over the gun and before he knew it. He was out cold. Y/N had done the same thing she did to Daryl when they first met and he was causing a ruckus. She pinched a nerve that knocked him out cold and pulled away letting Glenn and Michonne take care of the rest.
After being confronted by Michonne and Carol, Rick left the cell to go back to the house before the bonfire later that determines his residency in Alexandria. He stopped at the steps finding Y/N leaning against the railing.
âYouâre mad arenât you?â
No
Rick looks at her confused as he brought himself to stand beside her. Why not? He signs wanting this to be more private.
You did what you did for a reason. But what the Alexandrians donât know is that thereâs a much bigger threat than Rick Grimes whoâs just trying to show that to them. Y/N frowns rubbing the back of her neck. Even if he did risk his position here
You knocked me out, didnât you? Before it got worse
Yes, and before Michonne gave you a shiner She laughs sadly crossing her arms as Rick brought himself closer.
They might banish me
Going to have to go through me to enforce that and we both know what will happen if Iâm crossed Y/N scoffs smacking his chest getting a smile out of him before leaving to talk to Maggie about the bonfire.
Sheâs sure of it.

YANDERE TWD
REUNITED (yandere! big brother! merle dixon x male reader x yandere! big brother daryl dixon) (yandere! gareth x male reader) (rick grimes x male reader if you squint) NOTES: fair warning, this is some descriptive disturbing shit merle dixon counts as a warning on his own as well. this went in many directions i originally set out for yandere headcanons for the two, then got into the terminus arc, and ended with some pretty vague alluding to yandere. might write a part two)
imagine obsessive! possessive! big brothers! merle and daryl dixon. the dead begin to walk and they keep the darlin safe, meeting up with the atlanta camp. but the brothers won't let anyone get close to the darlin, not dale, not carl, certainly not shane or lori.
somehow, the darlin ends up going with glenn into the city on a supply run, only for it to go horribly wrong. the darlin insisted they head into a chemist to "look for medications" in case anyone in the camp needed them. but it was a lie. the darlin just wanted to find something to help merle with the inevitable withdrawal he'd go through once his supply of drugs ran out. the chemist is overrun by walkers but the darlin insists. "we can clear it!" they say to glenn "it'll be worth it for m- everyone" the korean gave the other a skeptical look. in the end, there was just too many, glenn thought he saw the darlin go down and reluctantly returned to camp.
"oi! shitface, you think you're a big boy now? can do whatever you want now everything's gon' to shit!" the raspy, harsh voice of merle dixon echoed through the camp. the redneck tramped over to the SUV glenn was parking. he remained silent as he turned the engine off. taking a deep breath, the young man exited the car, staring at the grass.
the older dixon stormed over, aggressively opening every door of the vehicle until he reached the boot. filled with supplies. "where the fuck is m/n" he growled, coming closer to the asian "he better be pullin up in another car" merle spat out. "i- it was" glenn stuttered out, looking like he was about to piss his pants "it wasn't my fault, m/n was being reckless, i had no cho-" CRACK glenn's face was soon bloodied and bruised, merle now on top of him, yelling out profanities as he beat the younger man. "merle!" the others quickly ran to pull the redneck off glenn.
"you fucking ch*ng-ch*ng bastard i'll rip-" merle was pried off glenn, who was now rolling around in agony, his face a bloody mess. "what the fuck happen'd" merle rasped out, although to glenn it sounded like a croak "where is he" merle was still being held back by t-dog and shane as he continued yelling. glenn avoided the rednecks furious gaze "the walkers got him" he finally spoke, looking down.
for a moment it looked like merle was about to cry, for a moment merle himself thought he was going to burst into tears like a sissy. "no he ain't" but instead he picked up his shotgun, and got into the drivers seat of the SUV.
that was how andrea, t-dog, jackie, glenn and morales ended up in the city. that was how merle got handcuffed to a roof by "officer friendly" and that was why daryl yelled in agony on that same roof. in the course of a day, he had lost the two most important people in his life.
but merle had survived by cutting off his left hand, and the darlin had survived by covering himself in walker guts.
"china- no- glenn- don't- help!" the h/c-et screamed, the sound of his own gun firing defeaning his ears. as one went down, another lunged at him, rotten teeth clanking together, desperately trying to knaw into his flesh. but he wouldn't die here. he couldn't. not when merle was 'relying' on him to get drugs. maybe then, the dixons would start to treat him as less of a clueless child and more of an equal.
after taking down a few, m/n jumped behind the counter, rummaging through the medications, looking for anything that might help with the withdrawal, or better, give merle his next fix. more of the dead came at him, but he just kept shooting, stabbing, hitting, anything to cause the fatal damage needed to end the dead's miserable 'life'.
BANG one was down BANG another BANG BANG BANG .. the slide didn't move forward as he shot his way through another round. shit. he was out of ammo "glenn!" he yelled out as a walker fell on top of him, wrestling it's way closer to his skin. all the korean could hear was m/n's screaming. which only attracted more walkers. he saw the medicine that m/n had thrown over the counter before going down, stuffing it into his bag, he creeped up closer to the group of walkers that had acculumated, following the sound of m/n's scream. until it stopped. "m/n?" he uttered under his breath, but the pile of walkers on top of each other told him the other was dead. with tears in his eyes, glenn ran out.
m/n struggled against the strength of the walker. it was freshly turned, he could tell. otherwise it wouldn't be so strong. kicking, punching, reaching for his knife, anything to save himself from becoming one of them. plunging his blade into the side of the walkers head, he quickly slit the once-man's throat. covering his face in the blood. before moving down to the abdomen. cutting it open, letting the walkers rotting insides pour out all over him, the ones that had piled on top soon couldn't distinguish the smell of living flesh from rotting blood.
he went silent, breathing shallowly, hoping, praying, they'd move off him and he could silently slip out. but when he was finally free of the chemist, glenn, the supplies they had gathered, and the SUV were gone.
he walked the dead-ridden streets of the once bustling city, covered in blood, hidden in plain sight. he kept walking (which then turned into a limp after getting hit in the ankle by a flying bullet) becoming weaker with each step, hoping to make his way back to camp. only to come to the end of the trainline leading into suburban atlanta. TERMINUS the building read "those who arrive survive" he heard a feminine voice call out from the speakers. maybe they have gauze. he glanced down at his leg, the sleeve of his shirt he had tied around it now dyed red.
"community for all; sanctuary for all" he saw a young man- perhaps just a little older than m/n was, staring down at him from the window. something felt amiss, off, but m/n had lost so much blood he didn't care. he stumbled towards the train station, stopping and starting as he debated his decision.
daryl, merle.. they'll be wondering he thought to himself, stopping for the 5th time, but i won't make it back he began walking again but they'll be looking for me he stopped, nearly tripping but the sudden lack of motion if i found this place they'll find it too he picked up the pace again, frantically moving towards the gates but- as he stopped himself once more, he finally tripped over. right onto the walker trap the train people had set up. his left ribcage was pierced by the sharp metal pole sticking out of the ground, causing the h/c-et to let out a loud screech.
before he knew it people had come out, the same man that had stared at him through the window moments earlier put his hand on the wound, causing m/n to flinch "we're you trying to get yourself killed?" the man mused, seemingly unphased by the active bleeding out that was happening in front of him. the man spoke more words that were muffled as m/n fell out of consciousness.
it was pitch black when he opened his eyes. not a shred of light to allude to the location. pitch black. m/n's hands brushed her his torso, feeling the gauze that was tightly wrapped around his chest. it all came back to him. the chemist, the walkers, glenn, the train people. he shifted his arms, feeling the thin material he was lated on, and the cold metal it covered. attempting to hoist himself up, pain shot through his body.
letting out a groan, he laid back down, closing his eyes. is this death. it certainly felt like it. the nothingness, the pain, it was all he had ever imagined death to be like. what felt like hours passed, the nothingness was almost comforting, how long had it been since he could lay like this and do nothing with no worries. it was all ended when the creaking of the door signaled to m/n that he was not in-fact dead.
the sudden brightness was blinding "you awake?" a masculine voice spoke. m/n's eyes began burning from the light, "i guess" he replied quietly, his eyes closing. "good" the male put down a plate next to where m/n laid "eat up. i know this isn't the warmest welcome, i would have liked to show you around first" the man chuckled, leaning down, seemingly to get a good look at m/n.
the man- who introduced himself as gareth, began speaking about the community- terminus. that they did whatever they had to for survival, that m/n would have to prove himself loyal if he wanted to become apart of the community. he wasn't sure how to tell this gareth guy that he was leaving as soon as possible to find his group.
the discussion started off normal as m/n finished his food, until gareth started talking about how lonely he was, as the leader of this terminus community. it only got creepier as gareth started to call m/n pretty boy, edging closer to him. m/n doesn't want to know what would have happened if that middld aged lady (gareth's mother), hadn't called the man away.
it quickly became evident to m/n that he was never going to leave. gareth locked him in the pitch black train car for hours on end, opening the door when there were armed men to prevent m/n from trying anything. gareth would sit with him and talk, running his hands over the male's body, stealing kisses, it was a reprehensive routine m/n had become forcibly accustomed to.
it all changed the day the hunters attacked. m/n was in his train car, as usual, listening to the outside screams, wondering if the attackers were dead or alive. he knew they were alive when one pried open the train car door, and threw them self on him. he was then thrown into a cramped train car with other terminus residents, where the hunters hand picked who to assault and slaughter each day. he and gareth spent their days huddled up together, talking about their lives before. had m/n not accepted the hunters offer to leave the train car if he worked for them, gareth wouldn't have lost his mind. but m/n was desperate to get away. from the train car. from terminus. to find his family.
but the hunters caught him trying to leave. they did their absolute worst to him and then threw him back in. when the termites took back terminus, gareth locked the leader of the hunters and m/n into the same train car. "this is what you deserve" he told him, before locking the door shut.
perhaps it was years, perhaps it was months, maybe it was only a few hours. the horrors of the train car began to unfold, as the man who had once led the attack on terminus lost his mind: pouncing on m/n at random, screaming for hours straight, trying to eat m/n alive when they'd be deprived of food, ripping his ear off in hungered insanity. as m/n laid there bleeding from his ear, he decided either i escape or i die. had running worked before? no. was he willing to die trying? not really, but a man would do anything for freedom, and that's what m/n did.
the hunter had fallen asleep, a fatal mistake, as m/n wrapped his hands around the mans unshaven neck and squeezed. within second the man awoke but m/n was relentless, not letting go until the other went limp. i just have to wait now he cried to himself, hands shaking. calming, he began to strip the man of his clothes and use the fabric to restrain his limbs.
waiting for the termites to open the door with the meal made of human flesh felt like an eternity. the familiar sound of metal scratching and creaking filled m/n's ear, who quickly sprung into action.
grabbing the reanimated hunter by the hair, he guided it in the direction of the door, throwing it towards the woman holding their plates. she screeched as the hunters corpse sank it's teeth into her flesh, blood pouring from the wound.
m/n grabbed the woman's gun and bolted as the nearby workers aimed their guns at the walker, taking it down swiftly, but m/n had already gotten out of the train car. hiding behind what once was his cage, he shot at every person who came into view. eventually making his way to the fence, through the woods, he didn't stop running until the sound of gunshots stopped entirely. even then, he kept running. he ran for what felt like hours until his lungs couldn't take it anymore. collapsing onto the dirt, heaving in and out.
woodbury had fallen, it's entire population now living in the prison nearby. rick had relinquished his leadership, insisting the prison be governed by a council. he often went on runs by himself, to get away from it all, to look back on his actions, to find lost survivors. it wasn't everyday rick grimes came across a twenty something perhaps younger male covered in blood, breathing like he had never tasted air before. well, usually the young men were walkers. but this one was very much alive.
"please don't" the male groaned out, eyes wide, as rick approached with a knife. "who are you" he drawled out, kneeling down to get a good look at the other. the young males face was bruised, his hair covered in blood, an ear was missing, and the male was emaciated. "uh" the male seemed to have to think about it, as if he hadn't spoken to another human in years "m/n" he finally puffed out, bringing his hand up to his head, where the left ear once was.
rick's hands brushed m/n hair out of his face, causing the male to flinch away "how many walkers have you killed" the older man finally asked after several moments of silence. m/n just stared at him, as if to say he hadn't been keeping track "how many people have you killed" still, the same look. "water" "what" rick narrowed his eyes. m/n used his free hand to shakily point to the man's bag, where a bottle of water was latched on to the side.
rick was silent as m/n chugged the water down "do you have anything sweet?" "no i don't" "oh" something about the boy felt familiar. didn't glenn mention originally going into atlanta to find a boy with a similar description? maybe it was just that the male reminded him of his own boy in a way, or maybe he had already developed a fondness for m/n. "i have a camp" rick looked m/n in the eye "we have walls, food, a community, a doctor that can look at your wound" he added.
the h/c-et shook his head "not again" rick furrowed his brows "what" the boy started to pick himself up "i gotta, um" he started feeling around the ground for his gun, "gotta go" he finished as he felt the handle of the gun. stuffing the weapon into his belt, he stood up, using a tree as a crutch. "c'mon kid, you're going to die out here" rick leaned forward and took the gun out of the others hand "no im not! give it!" m/n lunged forward, only to awkwardly fall into rick's chest, sinking down back to the ground.
"you've got two bullets left" m/n looked up at rick with a glare "either you come back to my camp with me or i just wasted my water on a dead man" m/n held his glare until the sun got into his eyes. "whatever" he looked down, hoisting himself back to his feet with the help of rick's hand.
daryl squinted his eyes as the evening sun glared down, merle had stolen his motorcycle. again. the older dixon was always going off on fun runs without informing anyone beforehand. perhaps because the redneck had never really been accepted into the group like daryl was.
taking another bite of his pork chop, daryl grunted at carol who told him to go in and get some rest. but why would he want to rest when all he could think of when his mind was unoccupied was his baby brother, the boy he had pretty much raised, who was now probably a rotting corpse in atlanta. but daryl still held out hope that m/n had gotten out, that he was safe, that he would find him oneday. this was why he never rested, these thoughts would creep up in the younger dixons head.
the sound of his motorcycle rumbling told him that merle was back. the older dixon sauntered over to daryl, a cigarette sat between his thin lips, "look what you're big brother merle got you, darylina" he pulled a pack of cigarettes out his pocket, sliding it into daryls pocket. daryl said nothing, staring into the distance; was that rick? the figure was too far away to discern.
"dad!" carl called out, jogging down. "look what i- m/n?" the young grimes exclaimed as he came closer to the pair. rick carried the half-conscious boy through the gates "you know this guy?" rick looked at carl, who flicked the hair out of m/n's face to get a better look "he was with us back in atlanta, we thought he died on a run"
daryl's heart stopped, did he hear carl right? they were pretty far away. standing up, he threw the pork bone aside and marched towards the two- three. when he finally came close enough to see the persons face, he had to stop himself from tearing up in front of carl and rick "m/n" he uttered out quietly. the father and son came to a halt as he approached "you knew this guy back in atlanta" rick nodded at daryl "'course i did. he's my brother" daryl was quick to take m/n off rick. he wanted to cut the mans arms off just for touching his precious brother.
daryl rushed m/n into the prison, settling him in his cell, "go get hershel" he told carol, who looked just as perplexed as merle did as he walked into the cell. "m/n!? i thought you was dead" he breathed out, shoving daryl out the way, who was quick to push back, both wanting to be as close to their younger brother as possible "where'd you find him" merle looked over at rick, who was standing out front the cell "in the woods, looked like he'd been running"
rick moved aside as hershel came in, merle reluctantly stood up as hershel sat to access m/n's condition. "he's lost a lot of blood" hershel examined the ear hole where the flesh and muscle had been ripped from "we should have bob look at him, but from what i can see he needs bandaging and antibiotics" daryl grunted "i ain't letting no stranger touch him" he ushered hershel away, taking m/n's hand in his own "i found antibiotics on last weeks run, that gon' be enough" merle looked over at the old man, who nodded "we'll have to see how he reacts"
neither daryl or merle left m/n's side whilst waiting for the antibiotics to kick in. it was strange. no one in the prison had ever seen either of them so worried for or attached to someone. but for the six days and nights m/n spent unconscious, his body fighting off the infection from his wounds, recovering from the months of maltreatment.
when m/n finally opened his eyes, taking in his surroundings, daryl was leaned against the wall at the edge of the bed, eyes locked on the boys face "sleep well?" was the first thing he said after the two had stared at each other for what felt like an eternity "yeah" m/n spoke softly.
"i should have never gone hunting that day" "am i dead" the two spoke in unison. daryl breathed out "no, never gon' let that happen" he shuffled closer, laying down next to the youngest dixon.
daryl stared at m/n intensely, until merle was roused from his sleep "m/n, i told you not to go out of my sight" he grumbled, sitting forward. m/n looked up at the metal frame of the top bunk "i just wanted to get you some narcan" merle stared at him, blinking away tears "didn' have to risk your life for it" he pursed his lips "i ain't worth you dyin'" he added quietly, sitting back, his eyes not leaving m/n's.
the room went silent for a moment "maybe not, but you're my brother" m/n closed his eyes for a moment "do you guys have pop or candy here?" he questioned hopefully. merle let out a chuckle "i found a can on my run today" he chuckled out, before going quiet "i chugged it on the spot"
"you piece of shit!"

you most definitely can decline if you have too much on your plate/you donât want to, but could i request platonic dad!daryl and daughter!reader? where they get separated when the prison falls (reader was on her own and then met with the group at terminus). After the events at Terminus they finally get a chance to hug and spend time together and reader is crying and ranting about how she was so scared and she wishes she could be strong like Daryl, and Daryl lets her in on his own worries and comforts her? i was thinking reader is like early teens (14-15)
again feel free to decline if you want! đ§Ą
His Little GirlâDaryl Dixon x Daughter!Reader
*GIF isn't mine.*
Summary: After Terminus, you finally reunited with your father. While he was busy bandaging your arm after an injury you sustained, you let all your emotions out. Daryl, in a rare moment, shared his own feelings with you.
Genre: Fluff.
Era: Post Terminus.
Warnings: Swearing, mentions of near death experiences.
Word count: 1.2k.
A/n: Had to throw in a little bit of overprotective Dad!Daryl at the end. I hope you like this!
âłŕźťââżâŕźşâł
You winced in pain when your father poured alcohol over your open wound. Your hand instinctively jerked back, the long gash on your arm burning with the fire of a thousand suns. You scrunched your face in pain, closing your eyes against the pain.
âM'sorry, Bean,â Daryl apologized, pulling the bottle away and placing it on the ground. He reached into his bag and grabbed a bandage he had managed to find in some abandoned house, and he started wrapping it around the gnarly wound. âJus' try and hold still, alrigh'? This'll be over sooner if ya do.â
âOkay,â you whispered, opening your eyes and looking at your father's face. His face betrayed no emotions; he simply focused on bandaging your arm, his usual stoic expression on his face. He showed no ounce of fear, nothing to show that he thought he was going to die. That made you kind of envious. âHow do you do it?â
Daryl halted his movements with the bandage, his blue eyes flicking up to meet your gaze. âM'guessin' yer not talkin' 'bout bandagin' someone's arm, are ya?â
You shook your head. âNo, I'm not,â you replied in a broken whisper.
âTalk to me, Bean,â Daryl urged you, slowly resuming with the task of bandaging your arm. âWha's on yer mind?â
You stayed silent for a moment, your eyes straying to the rest of the group. The only thing you could see in the dark was the light that the campfire emitted. The group was seated around the fire, a couple of them laying down to catch some sleep while a couple of others stayed up, mindlessly staring into the fire while others were keeping a cautious eyes on the tree line, trying to see if walkers or the survivors of Terminus were going to attack.
Shifting your attention back to your father, you swallowed deeply, trying to will the lump in your throat to go away. âHow are you so brave?â
Daryl frowned in confusion. âWha'?â
âHow are you so brave?â you repeated, diverting your eyes to the ground. âYou're not afraid of anything. You weren't scared when the camp at the quarry got overrun. You weren't scared at the CDC. When the farm fell, and then the prison, Terminus... You weren't scared at all. I was. I still am. When the prison fell, I escaped with someone, but he didn't make it long. The walkers got to him. Then I was alone, and I was so scared. I thought I was gonna die out there, alone, without knowing whether or not everyone was alive or not. Then I saw the Terminus maps, and I managed to find my way there, but everything quickly went to crap. I got thrown into that train cart, and I thought I was gonna be killed, but there you were. You were alive and you all had a plan to get out. It was a close call, and I almost got killed, but we got out. Through all of that, you weren't scared. You're so brave, and I'm not. I'm not.â
Daryl tightened the bandage around your arm before he withdrew his hands. He stayed silent for a few moments before he sighed, shaking his head.
âYa ain't got no idea how wrong ya are,â he started, chuckling slightly at the way you furrowed your eyebrows in confusionâa trait you had inherited from him. âBean, I was real fuckin' scared. All those times ya mentioned, I was terrified. I jus' put on a brave face fer ya 'cause I know ya needed me to be. When I saw the walkers back at the quarry camp, and I couldn't find ya immediately, I thought the walkers got ya. At the CDC, when tha' asshole wouldn't unlock the door, I thought we were gon' get blown up. I thought tha' my twelve year old lil' girl was gon' die, and there wasn't anythin' I could do to stop it. With the farm and now the prison, I thought ya didn't make it out. I spent the whole time wonderin' if ya were alive. I thoughtâI thought tha' ya were dead. I was so scared, Bean. I ain't ever been as scared like I was when the prison fell. I felt broken, empty. And then I found ya, but those psychopaths almost killed ya in front of me. I jus'... I can't lose ya. Yer my baby girl, even if yer already fourteen years old. I'd rather die than lose ya again.â
You leaned forward and wrapped your arms around him, sniffling as Daryl wrapped his arms around you tightly. He pressed a kiss to your temple and slightly rocked you from side to side, just like he used to do when you were younger and had just woken up from a nightmare. Being in your father's embrace made you feel safe, like nothing could ever hurt you again. You wished you could always feel that way.
âI love you, Dad,â you whispered softly.
âLove ya too, Bean. More than ya know.â Daryl soon pulled back from the hug and gave you a small smile, and nudged his head in the direction of the campfire. âC'mon, let's head back. Ya need somethin' to eat.â
You nodded and got up, following behind your father as you walked back to the rest of the group. You settled down beside Carl while Daryl sat down next to Rick.
Carl sent you a small smile, nervously fiddling with his hands. âHey, Y/n. How's your arm?â
You smiled at him and shrugged. âI'll live. I've had worse.â
âYeah, and yet you're still alive,â Carl replied, still nervously fidgeting with his hands. âYou're a badass.â
âThanks, Carl,â you thanked him. Noticing his fidgeting, but mistaking his nerves for coldness, you grabbed one of his hands and held it in your own. âHere, let me warm your hands for you. My hands are like a furnace.â
You missed the way Carl ducked his head, a blush spreading across his face but he smiled in silent glee. âYeah, okay.â
As you and Carl silently conversed to yourselves, with Carl staring at you in awe, Daryl watched the two of you closely. His glare rested on his best friend's son and the way he held your hand, and Daryl couldn't help the surge of overprotectiveness that flooded his body. He visibly stiffened, catching Rick's attention.
Rick followed his line of sight and chuckled at what he saw. âLook at that. Young love, huh?â
Daryl glared at Rick. âYer son better keep his hands off'a her. They're too young to be thinkin'a tha'.â
âDo what you want, Daryl, but if they wanna be together, they're gonna find a way, despite your rules.â
Well, Daryl thought, then he'd just have to bestow the fear of god into the young boy, and make sure that if he ever hurt you, his little girl, walkers would be the least of his problems.

Dark Cell
Daryl Dixon x platonic!reader
Negan smith x daughter!reader
WORD COUNT: 1.1k TIME: Season 7 Warnings: imprisonment, mentions of saviours, mentions of Glenn and Abraham, mentions of dog food
Series Masterlist
Daryl could feel the gazes on him as he swept the outside of the Sanctuary. Most of them were laughing and taking joy out of his humiliation, others were with pity.
Most of the pity looks were coming from the women and the others were from men that had gone through a similar situation as him before they had rolled over and submitted to Negan.
Negan
Even the name left a bad taste in his mouth, the mere thought of thinking of the heartless man caused vile to raise up his throat before he pushed it down to continue with his daily punishment.
He would sit in his cell for two days, sitting in the pitch black, the only sound that filled the small space was the heavy foot steps of those who walked by and the maddening sound of âeasy streetâ booming on replay. The only food that was spared to him was the leftover bread and expired wet dog food. Then he would be put to work for two days, working for sixteen hours a day before being returned to his cell for Dwight to humiliate him all over again.
Sometimes if he got lucky Negan would bring him to Alexandria and even if it was to make a joke out of him, he craved to make sure his family was okay.
It killed him that he couldnât reach out and hug his family, his brother and he knew it killed Rick too.
He knew how Rick was, he cared more about his people then he did himself. He would always put himself in harms way to protect his group and it was in his best interest to just cooperate with Negan and his demand to save everyone in Alexandria from suffering the same fate as Glenn and Abraham had on that fateful night.
A hard shove snapped him out of his thoughts as a saviour glared up at him from his slightly smaller frame and as he did he finally caught your eye.
He realized you mustâve been around Carlâs age, you were wearing light blue jeans and an orange sweater that dipped down the shoulders, your eyes tightly locked on his face.
He turned his head back to the task at hand and continued his work not wanting to receive an unnecessary punishment.
It almost caused embarrassment to consume him. He was never like this, he would never cower in fear of somebody. He promised himself he would never back down but for the well-being of everyone in Alexandria, he swallowed his pride and allowed himself to be made a fool.
âŚ.
He heard light foot steps making there way down the hallway. He had just assumed a women would be on night watch, he certainly wasnât expecting you to be opening his small, dark cell.
His questioning eyes watched you as you left the door open a small sliver, just enough to shine a little light into a certain part of the cell but left it closed enough that it wouldnât be noticed if someone had decided that, that was the best time to look down the doomy hallway. A small plate was in your grasp leaving a sick feeling in his stomach at having to eat another dog food sandwich, but his worry was quickly put to rest when you took a seat in the corner closest to the ajared door.
âIâm not here to hurt you. I promise.â You finally spoke as you noticed the look he was giving you.
He noticed you look down at the plate before slowly sliding it over to him and it was just then that he realized itâs contents. It was two sandwiches, they were made with white bread, some kind of cold cut meat and they contained lettuce, tomato and what he assumed was mustard.
âItâs for you. Sorry I couldnât make something else, Itâs just really late and the cook went out for a smoke break so it was all I had time to grab. I wasnât really sure what you liked so I just assumed. I hate tomatoes and mustard but I didnât think you did.â You rambled on anxiously toying with your fingers as you looked at him, and as you did you noticed the reluctant look on his face.
âGo ahead, itâs okay.â He looked at it for a few more minutes, silence filling the room as you stared down at the ground before your eyes snapped up at the sound of him grabbing the plate before stuffing his face with its contents.
You heard a sound leave his lips as he ate the most fresh and real food he has had in more then two weeks.
âHopefully itâs okay, I mean it has to be better then what they feed people over here.â There was no response only the sound of chewing filled the room. Normally the sound would make you cringe but you were just happy he was finally eating something good.
It only took a few minutes for the sound to dim into nothing as he quietly placed the plate back where you had originally placed it.
His eyes left the floor and met yours through his dark hair, and he looked at you for a moment before he gave you a slight nod.
If you hadnât been paying close attention to the larger man you wouldnât have noticed but you were. You could see the uncertainty in his gaze as well as the appreciation.
âI can bring you something else next time. I might just cook it in my room and try and bring it to you a bit earlier.â
He just continued looking at you, as if to decipher if you were lying or not before looking away.
âIs there anything you like?â You asked turning your head to try and catch his eye but it was useless.
You let out a light sigh in understanding before reaching to grab the plate, slowly pulling yourself to your feet as you pushed the door open quietly and just wide enough to squeeze through. As you did so you were halfway through the door, when you heard the deep but scratchy voice.
âThank you.â As all that was said and when you turned your head you saw him now facing you. You couldnât see his eyes due to the lack of light and his long hair but you could only assume he was looking at you.
A smile pulled at your lips as you mutter an âOf course.â Before you finally exited the cell, quietly closing and locking it as you tiptoed your way to your overly large room. When doing so your eyes landed on the watch on your wrist that read 2:10 am, thank god your dad was asleep.

Reunion
Pairings: Daryl Dixon x teen!reader, Tyreese Williams x teen!reader, Carol Peletier x teen!reader, Judith Grimes x teen!reader (all platonic obviously)
Requested by Anonymous: when the prison fell you and Daryl got separated, this is how you meet up, based on this request
Warnings: mention of blood, fighting, mention killing walkers/zombies, killing people, Daryl hug (yes thatâs a warning), knives, guns, mention of killing kids, Terminus, hopefully if you read this youâve seen the episode and knows what it includes, but ya know typical twd stuff.
A/N did I accidentally write this way longer than I intended yes, yes, I did, now donât get me wrong the moment where Tyreese defends Judith is iconic but for the sake of this fic I changed it up, kinda wanna make another part
For you who wants to know the episode is season 5 episode 1
Anyway I hope you enjoy this <3
Judith giggled happily in your arms as you walked on the edge of the railway. You couldâve once imagined all kinds of trains going up and down the tracks as they blew past the trees, but now you couldnât actually remember much about trains, you had the idea of them but not much details (and if a train were to come right now that wouldâve been a miracle).
Tyreese walked a few steps behind you, with Carol in the front, as she led your group of four forward. She came to a stop when a sign that states âTERMINUSâ showed up once more. It was your headed path, the sanctuary called Terminus. You personally didnât trust it, not after the Governor, but you had to find Daryl and the rest of the group. You knew that if any of them were still alive they wouldâve gone to Terminus after finding the railway. Which all of them had probably done. Along with finding Daryl you also had to get Tyreese and Judith to safety. Tyreese wasnât fit to live on the road at the moment, he refused to kill anything that came your way leaving you and Carol to kill stray walkers, or animals for food. Judith, well, she was a baby and sometimes could be screaming all day, she was mostly quiet but the times she did cry was the times walkers got attracted. A baby was no way near fit to be on the road but here you were all of you somehow still alive (except for Lizzie and Mika Samuels, but there was no loss for you over Lizzie thatâs for sure).
âWeâre closeâ Carol stated as she saw the sign. âIâm gonna get you all there, make sure youâre safe, but Iâm not gonna stayâ She saw your face morph into disappointment as you nodded your head, a sad smile on your face. Youâd missed her while she was gone and now she would be leaving again, and you didnât like it, not one bit and you knew Daryl would be sad over it too which didnât help the matter.
As you heard the rustle of leaves behind you in the forest, you all turned around to see two walkers stalk forward in your direction. Tyreese motioned with his hands to take Judith from you. Judith was carefully switched over to Tyreese and both you and Carol went forward to the walkers. Both of you killed them quickly only to notice the herd that was about to come out of the forest. Carol whispered to Tyreese that more were coming, and so all of you went into the opposite side of the railway. You hid in the forest until the walkers got distracted by shots firing not too far away from all of you.
Tyreese looked worriedly at you as he started to talk. âThat gunfire it couldâve been from Terminusâ
âSomeone was attacking them, or they were attacking someoneâ Carol responded
âDo we want to find out?â
This time you involved yourself in the conversation, as you believed that you did indeed need to find out. âYeah, we need to find out, If the others are there they might need helpâ
With that, and Carol's instruction of walking another track that would get you there as well you all started to walk once more, this time in need to find out the truth.
Your next stop had been outside a small worn out cabin, but it wasnât the cabin that got your attention. What got your solely attention as you hid in the forest with your companions was the man that talked in a walkie-talkie. He was putting up a bunch of fireworks, no doubt to lead the herd of walkers away from Terminus. You could faintly hear him mention a woman with a sword, and you stopped Carol from going forward. As you continued to listen you heard him mention a kid with a hat and that was all you needed to go on. You didnât think there were that many women with a sword and kid with a hat together nearby at the same time, so it didnât take much to know that they were talking about Michonne and Carl. Nor did it take long to realize they had done something to your group, thereby also Daryl. Especially when he mentioned bleeding the kid out.
Carol slowly started to creep up behind the man and you followed not far behind. Tyreese more hesitant but still following. She put her gun toward his head, the young man froze and put his hands up still holding the two way radio. âKeep your finger off the button and drop itâ
âListen, yaâll donât have to do this. Whatever you want, we got a place where everyoneâs welcomeâ
âShut up manâ it was what all three of you were thinking but Tyreese was the one to say it.
âOkayâ
âWeâre friends of the chick with the sword and the kid in the hatâ Carol pressed the gun against his head forward, making the man lean forward as the gun touched his head.
It didnât take long for you and Carol to tie him up and drag him (not so carefully) into the cabin leaning him against one of the walls. Throughout the whole ordeal the man continued to tell the three of you that you didnât have to do this, that you could all come up with a deal, but he had no luck there.
As Carol made herself ready to scout Terminus out to see what was happening Tyreese continued to hold Judith in a protective embrace. You however had been asking the man questions, finding out that ever since the first questions he had been lying. He told you he only had Carl and Michonne, that they had both attacked them out of nowhere, that they were just protecting themselves. But none of you believed him. Not with the things you heard him talk about before you confronted him.
You would of followed Carol to Terminus had it not been for your will to protect Judith and Tyreese. As much as you loved Tyreese he wasnât in his right mind. So you stayed to help if anything bad were to happen, to walkers coming your way or your prisoner getting free somehow, it didnât matter you were there to protect your family. You only hoped Carol wouldnât need any help.
Talking about your prisoner he was even more shatty when Carol left. Apparently a teenager, a baby and a man who he could clearly see wasnât going to kill him was no threat to him. It was his undoing in the end. He underestimated you both and it showed in the way he talked to you and Tyreese as you sat by Judith, whoâd you made a makeshift bed to.
âShe got a name?⌠Hey, she got a name?â
âNoâ you answered at the same time Tyreese answered âJudithâ you glared at Tyreese as he told the stranger her name, you didnât want to give him any information, you never knew if it would backfire.
âShe your daughter or something?â
âSheâs a friendâ
âHuh, I donât have any friends⌠I mean I know people. Theyâre just assholes I stay alive with. The other one your friend, the womanâ the younger man nodded towards the door that was now closed. Tyreese slowly looked away at the comment being conflicted about his answer. So instead you answered.
âYesâ
The man nodded and his voice that had now started to annoy you filled the room once more. âI used to have them⌠used to watch football on Sundays. Went to churchâ he let out a small laugh as if the thought of it was unbelievable. âI know, I did, but I canât picture it anymore⌠itâs funny how you donât even notice the time go by, horrible shit just stacks up day after day, you get used to itâ
Tyreese turned his attention towards the man and spoke with distaste laced in his voice. âI havenât gotten used to itâ
"Of course you havenât, youâre the kind of guy who saves babies, itâs kinda like saving an anchor, when youâre stuck on a boat-â you had by know decided to drown out his voice as he tried to make justiciable to let him go.
Your thoughts got filled with Daryl like they had for the most time since the prison fell. You missed him. He always looked out for you. Ever since you met you were drawn to each other. Daryl used to pretend he hated you, especially when Merle was around he couldnât have his brother think he was soft. However everyone knew he had always secretly looked out for you ever since he met you heâd felt the need to protect you. It came to the point that whenever you wanted to go on a run to get new supplies or do anything really youâd always ask Daryl. You had never spoken about it to each other but there was a silent agreement between everyone even you and Daryl that you were his kid and he your father. It might not be by blood but it was how it had come to be. Everytime something happened to you if you got hurt or if you were sad theyâd always notify Daryl, but most of the time he already knew and would be with you to try and cheer you up in his own moody way. When youâd been out on the road before you found the prison youâd always sleep next to each other making sure the other one was safe. Even in the prison your cells were next to each other. He always looked out for you. He taught you how to hunt, he taught you how to use his crossbow, and to fight people to be able to protect yourself. Like Judith was âlittle asskickerâ, you were the âbig asskickerâ. You couldnât help but to miss him and the thought of him being hurt from the people in Terminus made your stomach hurt. You didnât really want to voice your thoughts but you needed the reassurance and Tyreese was the only one who knew who Daryl was and could give reassurance. So against the warnings your mind gave you, you voiced your concerns.
âDo you think Darylâs okay?â Your voice came out quieter than you expected as your mind filled with more scenarios in which Daryl had gotten hurt in.
Tyreese turned from Judith to look at you. He tried to give a reassuring look on his face as he answered. âIâm sure heâs fine Y/Nâ
âSo Darylâs your dad, maybe boyfriendâ he continued to gues what Daryl was as you made no indication of actually giving anything away to him. After a while he stopped, he wouldnât get anywhere with you, but he was still confident that if he talked enough to Tyreese, he would let him go.
âSee, youâre a good guy, saving babies and teenagers.
âYou have no idea about the things Iâve doneâ
âYouâre a good guy, thatâs why you gonna die today, itâs why the baby is going to die, why Y/N is going to dieâ both you and Tyreese stood up taking an intimidating step towards the man, your knife pointed at him. âOr⌠you can get in that car, get out of here, keep on being lucky.â
âYou think youâre gonna kill me?â
The man turned his sole attention to Tyreese as he answered him. âWhy havenât you killed me? How does having me alive help you? Why the hell are you even talking to me? Take the kids, take the car and go, I donât want to do this todayâ
âFor your information we could always use you to get more information or we could kill you now, like you said we have-â you got cut off by an explosion going off. Tyreese rushed to the window to see what was happening and saw the smoke over the forest.
âIs that Terminus?â The man moved forward as if trying to see out through the window but he had no luck in that department as he slouched back towards the wall.
âYeah, probablyâ
âMaybe youâre gonna win this, maybe your friend, I mean maybe that woman just got capped, maybe Iâm gonna be the one who gets capped when she comes backâ
âNobodyâs got to die todayâ
âMan if you believe that⌠then itâs definitely gonna be you and the kids, even if the place is burning to the groundâ
âMan maybe you can shut up and stop talking before I kill you myselfâ the man took his eyes of Tyreese to look at you as you had your knife pointed at him an annoyed look on your face. He didnât believe for a moment that a teenager would be able to kill him, nor win in a fight against him. He had a way to high ego to think that you would be able to do any harm to him, he underestimated both you and Tyreese and when he heard as well as saw Tyreese look out at the walkers coming toward the cabin he moved quickly and soon enough his hands went to hold Judith in a hold that would be easy to break her neck.
He told you both to drop your weapons and you both did so not wanting him to hurt Judith. As he saw the walkers claw at the windows he looked towards Tyreese telling him to go outside. As Tyreese went outside he went over to you and bound your hands together with some spare rope just like you had done to him earlier. He made sure the knot would hold before he went over towards the walkie-talkie and tried to connect to the woman (apparently named Cynthia) on the other side.
While he did all that you tried to desperately tie up the knot that held the rope around your wrist together. Right as you were able to get rid of the rope around your wrist (thankful Daryl taught you how to do it) the noise from outside stopped. It became deathly quiet and the man looked towards were the last pounding against the walls had been. He took out his knife and was about to kill Judith when you quietly and quickly grabbed the knife that was laying right were you left it beside you on the floor and you ran over to the man. You saw red as you knocked him over, he had threatened to kill Judith and Tyreese. Threatened your sister and one of your closest friends. You knocked him towards the floor and your hand went into the air as you threw it down onto him repeatedly stabbing the knife in your hand into him. even after he was clearly dead.
Tyreese had to carefully walk over to you as he took the knife away from you. He told you that the man couldnât hurt them anymore nor the walkers, everything would be okay. You appreciated his comfort as you hyperventilated for a few minutes over the fact that youâd just killed a human. Youâd killed walkers before but never a human being. In your mind it was justified as he was about to kill all of you anyway, but you still felt like youâd lost something inside of you.
It was a while later when you glanced out of the window and saw Carol as she walked towards the cabin, Rick not that far behind. You broke out in a relieve laugh as a smile spread briefly over you lips, this made Tyreese glance out towards where you were looking. You booth scurried to get everything as you both wanted to leave the cabin not being comfortable to stay inside any longer than you needed to.
As both you and Tyreese stepped out of the barn you glanced at the people led by Carol. Your eyes scanned the crowd looking for one person in particular.
Daryl stared at you in disbelief he couldnât believe you were actually alive, heâd seen you get shot, and without medical attention he guessed youâd died. He hadnât wanted to keep hoping in case he would someday find your corpse rotting away (either as a walker or actually dead).
Daryl took in your bloodied state, youâd no doubt had to fight. Dirt and blood covered most of your clothes, and your face had a few cuts covered in dried blood. Your once white shirt was miss colored and your jeans had been ripped in some places, your jacket had blood stains all over it. Daryl could only guess what youâd gone through to end up looking like that (he didnât even look that bad). He didnât like all the blood covering you, he didnât like not knowing what had happened, he didnât like being away from you, he needed to protect you, heâd lost Beth to a couple of strangers, he wouldnât lose you too.
When your eyes finally found Daryl, you had a soft smile on your face as you saw him visibly relax at your eye contact. While Rick and Carl ran towards Judith in Tyreeseâs arms, Daryl stumbled forward towards you, dropping his crossbow to the ground. You met him halfway and he engelfulled you in a tight hug. Youâd never know nor would anyone else but Daryl let a few tears fall in relief as he hugged you tightly knowing you were still alive, actually alive. As he felt you wrap your arms around him he felt you hug him just as tight, the comforting sensation you both brought each other was all you needed to ground each other and know that either of you were dreaming, this was real and both of you were okay.
As Daryl heard you sniffle he realized you were crying and he hugged you even tighter, taking one hand to your head and petting it softly â not knowing fully how to comfort someone, even now, having comforted you all those times before he still was unsure if he did it right. However he did know that you were crying from relief, because he did the same thing. You had your father back and he had his kid back and knowing that, you both knew that everything would be okay in the end. You were yet to be bested by someone when together, even when apart you always won, always found your way to back to each other. You would beat this world together and that was all that you needed to know, and the fact that neither of you were planning on leaving soon.

Okay but don't think about older Daryl when he returns from France.
Jude and the kids are all adults now, and a new generation he's never met before is waiting for him when he returns to the gates.
He rides a different custom bike now, a trike, perhaps. Bikes get so heavy and Daryl isn't as sturdy anymore.
The greying in his beard now traveled upward, streaking his once dark brown hair with silver strands.
His leg never healed properly after Alpha's attack, his limp getting so bad he sports a cane now on solid ground, a brace covering his bad leg for forest trips and hunts. He never stopped.
But now, seeing you all grown up, no longer 'that kid' in your early 20s he feels its time to settle. It was clear the community thrived without his hunting so he'd gather the courage, even in his old age, to ask it if you'd be willing to take up the job as his caretaker.
He could still do almost everything on his own, but he really wanted to be in your company as much as he could now.
And of course you agreed.
Daryl had saved your life so often, and you cared deeply for the man.
You'd happily share your home with the old huntsman.

Seems only natural that theyâll write it so these two get to pass through New Mexico on their way through America. One day it may have just been two friends daydreaming togetherâŚdiscussing the future, holding onto hope. Now together in a completely different environment, New Mexico may not be that much of a daydream any more. Rest assured, they will find home wherever they are together, but I hope they get back to America safe and sound. I feel Daryl had a moment of clarity in episode four.

So Caryl is not romantic. BUT they ARE life partners who are going to be together from here on out.
This is the logic of the anti Caryl crowd?
So neither Carol or Daryl will have romantic love in their life from here on out?
Or worse they will have meaningless flings while the other stand around like a 3rd wheel until itâs over?
Yâall are crazy af.

Ever since I've started paying more deliberate attention to caryl since watching season 10 for the first time a few months ago, and now in my rewatch of the whole show, every time I look at Carol looking at Daryl I am just seeing my babygirl absolutely in love.
She looks at him in the background of every scene no joke. Beth's singing when they arrive at the prison and everyone's having a moment and what's Carol doing? Looking at Daryl. Making eggs for the whole group - who's she looking at while they eat?? DARYL. The group just found out Rick didn't tell them all what Jenner told him at the CDC - what does Carol do? LOok aT DARYL.
My girl is IN LoVe.
Her face looking at Daryl throughout season 10 is just constant pain. Platonic friends don't look at each other longingly like Carol looks at Daryl my GOODNESS. When he shows up at her cottage in season 7, she practically melts into him. Istg she was dtf I feel almost like I was intruding.
#I would be down for them to be platonic soulmates BUT THEY AREN'T#I apologise for the person I'm going to be when book of carol hits#these babies are both in love and I love them#but ngl I need daryl to keep being an honourable man bc my girl deserves the best#carol peletier#caryl#caryl positivity#caryl is endgame#twd rewatch

ugh daryl or rick x reader but the reader is reading shy and they yell at the reader and the reader cries đŁđŁ but comfort and stuff
Bunny
âa/n: not really sure if this lives up to your expectations, but this is the first time I've written for TWD openly.
âpairing: platonic!Daryl Dixon x reader
â Warning: reader getting yelled at, mention of Carl's death, reader's nickname is Bunny (platonically!), not proofread
ââ 4.30.23
You were walking behind Daryl, talking his ear off about the comic you had found in an old, broken down store. You hadn't really realized how much you were talking and who you were talking to. Carl used to listen to you ramble on and on about the comics, but he saw where you came from. Daryl had never been one for them. A squirrel crawling up a tree caught his attention. He brought his bow up, aiming until you went through one of your fits, your voice going up an octave as you got excited. The squirrel scurried off.
Daryl had swung around, glaring at you through his eyelids. "Do ya ever shut up? There just went our dinner because you can't be quiet about a stupid comic book!" He had never raised his voice at you. Sure, you've seen him angry, but it was never directed towards you. He saw you as his own, never wanting to hurt you.
"Bunny,"
"Fuck you." Any trace of a tear was gone, replaced by a straight face. You walked right past him, in the direction that the squirrel had gone off to.
He went after you, kicking himself. He knew you hated getting yelled at. It was like an off switch for you. All excitement had been drained from your eyes.
He waited, giving you space, where you weren't in his line of sight, but he could track where you went, seeing your footprints in the dirt.
As he was walking, he stared at the ground until your shoes were in front of his. He looked up, seeing you holding the dead squirrel by its back legs. "Here's dinner, asshole." He caught the squirrel as you threw it.
Daryl watched your face as you looked deep into the flames of the small campfire he had made to cook the meat of the squirrel and keep you warm in the Autumn night air.
"Bunny, look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at ya. I just hadn't found any food for ya and when I did, it ran away."
Daryl has never been one to apologize, but always been one to grumble and mumble back. But he couldn't just let you off thinking he wasn't sorry. He wouldn't be able to live if something were to happen to you and you ended up thinking he wasn't sorry. He'd blame himself for yet another death.
"Whatever."
"Don't do that." It's the teen angst, he had to remind himself. Carl went through it, he knew. "Don't 'whatever' me, damnit." There wasn't any fire behind the curse, he almost sounded desperate for you to know he didn't mean it. He felt it was his fatherly duty to keep you alive, feed you.
"It's okay, Daryl, really. I get it." Your facade disappeared, along with your posture. Your body folded in on itself, knees to your chest. "I just don't have anyone to talk to about them, anymore, ya know."
After Carl died, it was as if your world crumbled. He was like a big brother to you, and now he is gone.
You felt arms around you, bringing you into a hug. The warmth around you was comforting but it was new. He had never hugged you before. It was a fatherly hug, one he wished would take all the negative thoughts away; one to fix everything that has ever gone wrong. "Well this is a first."
He pulled back slightly, halfheartedly glaring at you as he grumbled. "Not a word to anybody, got it?"

Closet (Daryl Dixon x PlatonicFem!Reader)
You had been hiding a part of yourself for years, it only took the world to end to finally speak your truth.
You stood on Aaron and Eric's porch, bracing yourself against the railing. They had prepared dinner for yourself and Daryl, as payment for bringing some spices back from a supply run. It was a lovely gesture, and it made you hate yourself even more when you couldn't stand to be in their company for too long. It was the hand holding, the loving gazes, the inside jokes. It was the way they shared gentle touches, so openly and so in love. It was the kisses and the laughs and the smiles.
It was hard to recognise the nasty feeling festering in your gut. It turned your gaze green and made yourself bitter.
You were jealous.
You shook your head, leaning back, trying to let the night wind wipe your sadness away. You wanted to push past this feeling - Aaron and Eric were lovely people, good people, yet you felt yourself turning sour the longer you spent in their company.
The door clicked softly behind you. You jerked, frantically wiping a hand at your cheeks. You turned, expecting to see Aaron or Eric wondering why you hadn't come back in after twenty minutes, but it was Daryl. You smiled weakly, secretly grateful that you didn't have to endure being in the presence of the lovebirds. Even on their own they managed to ooze cupid's scent.
"Hey." Daryl stood beside you, turning to look up at the night sky. The stars twinkled back. "Beautiful night."
You nodded in agreement, attempting to muster the energy to talk, to explain your disappearance.
"Food was good."
You nodded again.
Daryl sighed, playing with his fingers, tugging softly at the cuticles. "Look, ya know I'm no good at this small talk shit. I think we've been friends long enough to skip that crap, and you've been acting like this ever since we got here. Distant."
You bit your lower lip, taking comfort in gnawing at the skin. Your heart wanted to spill it all, to let loose your truth, but your fear kept you trapped.
"Did Aaron or Eric do somethin' to ya?"
You were that shocked at the thought you snapped your head to his. "No. They've been nothing but kind."
"Then what the hell is it?"
"I -" You averted your gaze, keeping your eyes glued firmly to the wood of the porch. "I can't tell you." You muttered, hating how water splashed on your cheeks. Your heart pounded in your chest.
Daryl reached forward, softly grabbing you under the chin, turning you to face him. You tried to muster a smile, though it did nothing to hide the tears freely pouring down. "You're cryin'."
Your hand moved to your cheek absentmindedly, aggressively wiping the wet away. Defeated, you pulled yourself away from Daryl, slumping to the floor feeling as if the world was trying to pull you down.
A beat of silence passed, then two. You wanted to speak; the ball in your throat choked the words. "Whatever it is, ya can tell me."
You pulled your chin into your knees, shoulders sagging. Your chest felt tight, the possibility of letting the truth pass your lips stealing your breath. But then you spotted Daryl at the edge of your vision, his brows creased in concern. He was your closest friend, your greatest confidant. You had told him about your night terrors, and he slept beside you, a moment away, to protect you from the monsters haunting the land of dreams. You leaned on him when you had killed in self defence. You relied on him to watch your back on runs, and he hadn't failed you yet.
He hadn't outright spoken to you of his past; he had let his lips loosen more around you than anyone else. He showed you the cigarette burns - never his back. You never dared to ask, knowing that was one private terror he would spill in his own time.
This man would never judge you. He would never press for more if you weren't ready, and he definitely would never leave your side. He was your platonic soul mate.
You released a heavy breath, scooting along to make room for him. Your voice was as quiet as a mouse - as a hunter you knew he heard. "I've never told anyone."
Daryl was quiet, accepting your invitation and settling in beside you. He didn't move to comfort you; he sat close enough to know he was there.
You clenched your fingers into your palm, the pain of the nails biting into the skin distracting you for the self destructive thoughts whizzing around in your head. "I'm jealous of them."
"Why?"
He's going to walk away, your brain whispered. He's going to leave you and you will be all alone surrounded by people. He's going to sneer at you and ignore your existence.
A large, calloused hand pried your fingers out of their fists. The skin of your palms cried in relief, sharp indents speckled with blood released into the air. You looked up at Daryl, and at his hand.
You screamed at the voices in your mind, uttering the words you never spoke aloud. "Because they're living their truth, they're not afraid."
Daryl stared at your crumpled form, it taking a moment to sink in. His mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water - no one had ever told him this kind of thing before, he had no idea how to respond. Turns out Daryl didn't need to worry, because the moment you started talking you unlocked the door you had kept barred shut for years.
"I've known ever since I was a teenager, kept it as quiet as I could. I dated, but it never went past the first date. I couldn't... be myself, and I think it's because I couldn't accept myself, and I think my dates could sense that too." You laughed darkly. "You know how if you were applying for a job, you had to state your sexual orientation? I always put "prefer not to say" as I was afraid to admit to the world that I'm a lesbian." You looked at Daryl, trying to sense any shift in him. He hadn't started cursing you out or walked away. The doubting voices in your head quietened.
You sniffled. "I'm envious of their confidence. Their openness. Is that stupid?"
Daryl shook his head. "Nah, it's not."
"You know what the stupidest thing of all is?" You shook your head, "It's taken until the end of the world to admit out loud that I am a lesbian."
Daryl wrapped his arm around you, bringing you close. "Proud of ya."
You relished his warmth, the warmth of your best friends embrace eradicating those voices for good. It felt as if a weight had been lifted off of your shoulders, and you could tell him about a part of your life you had kept hidden for so long.
"Thanks."
Daryl squeezed the hug tighter around you. "Feel better?"
"Bit."
"Well, come on. Dessert is waiting." Daryl got to his feet, putting his hand out to you.
You gulped, looking at the hand, then him. "You don't think any different of me, do you?"
"Hell nah, you're still a dumbass in my eyes."
You snorted.
"And hey, I can be your wing man."
"I'd love to see that Daryl."
As you walked back into the warmth of Aaron and Eric's home, you felt a peace settle inside you. The conversation didn't solve your insecurity and anxiety, but you felt better having admitted your truth out loud to your best friend.
You were on a long journey to accept yourself, whilst dealing with the trials and tribulations an apocalypse could bring, but in that moment, you were happy.
In your mind you repeated I am a lesbian, a smile forming on your lips.
