Insomniac musings, feel free to ignore:
I've touched on this before a little bit, but I've kind of come to the conclusion that one of the reasons why I find it difficult to fully vibe with AMC's IWTV is because it doesn't really do anything for me visually. Because it's downright uninteresting visually.
(No, I don't mean the costuming or set design, those are pretty great. Some of the contacts and the nails on the other hand, for example... Yeah.)
It's probably just one of those annoying film student 'I would have done this differently' things, or just a matter of taste, but... I like to feel inspired by visual media I watch, you know? And it's kind of extra unforgivable to me when a show I kind of expected to inspire me just... didn't.
I mean, it's clear they did not have a huge budget for S1 which probably limited set space and therefore camera angles/movement to some degree etc. Like, that nighttime drone shot of the Meydan Bridge in the first episode alone probably cost a huge chunk of their budget. But budget only explains so much, you know? Especially since in comparison the Mayfair Witches trailer is already giving me more and I assume it had a similar budget.
But yeah, mostly a matter of taste probably. It's just... a bummer.
#IWtV AMC#Darna studies film#sometimes#and is sometimes insufferable about it#Darna talks television#like Levan Akin bro I expected more from you#y'all better start bringing it next season#the worst crime to me is that the intimate scenes lack intimacy and that's such an odd creative choice#assuming it's a choice#but I'll maybe talk about that specifically later

Reblogging again because I just keep staring at this in a sort of horrified confusion.
Did they even have a stunt coordinator? Or a set designer? Did they fire the entire IL&M squad? Where did that 250 mil. go? This looks cheap as fuck.
Like... You can practically see the wires suspending Daisy, and the rig as well. And the first rule in using effects? An effect must never look like an effect. Same thing with the exploding hut. It’s a practical effect, but again, it looks like one.
How? Why? What the hell even happened here? What’s the meaning of life? I don’t understand.

Hello wanted to inquire do you know of superheroine film/tv, other than wonder woman, showing the herionso stopping car or lifting them. The Japanese/ phillapino version just show the typical karate scean over and over. Gets old! Woman with blackbealt can do the same. Thanks hayden
Okay, if I understand the question right, you're asking for series or movies where the superheroine does some super-stuff with vehicles like cars(?)
The most obvious example is the Hong Kong series Fly With Me, which features numerous examples of the heroine, Janet Bin, lifting, throwing, carrying, and otherwise interacting with cars during its 25 episodes. You can see some of the best examples in a video tribute I made of the show a few years back. All episodes of 飛女正傳 are available to view for free over at the TVB YouTube channel.
There are obvious other odd examples from other tv shows. The Supergirl episode Red Faced from its first season has an example of Kara stopping two racing cars dead in their tracks (which surely would have caused major injuries to the drivers?!) She also stops a hi-tech train in a later episode, if that counts. A large truck hits Supergirl square on in the pilot episode, although she doesn't so much stop it as destroy it. And then in the final season young Kara uses super breath to freeze the wheels of a runaway truck.
Talking of runaway trucks... From Filipino tv a recent example is episode #58 of Mars Ravelo's Darna (2022), when the heroine stops a truck from hitting an elderly pedestrian. A similar thing happens in an early episode of a much older ABS-CBN show called Krystala, when the heroine stops a runaway truck from rear-ending a school bus. Edited episodes of Krystala are available at the Jeepney TV YouTube channel.
Switching back to cars, this maybe doesn't count, but Serpent Girl's first ever act as a superheroines is to use super speed to stop a young boy from being hit by a car. All episodes of एक अनोखी रक्षक नागकन्या are available at the Dangal TV YouTube channel.
Hopefully those will be enough to answer your question. There's no doubt plenty of other examples, but I can't recall them right now.

The True to Life-Darna
Clothed in the scent of the swan and capybara. The sun sitting in the sky sounds like crackling on the earth when Angelica Locsin Colmenares shine from the heavens blue on April 23, 1985 in Sta. Maria Bulacan, the land of superheroes that don't need to wear cape to be called heroes.
In the beat of acceptance, she is a Christian by heart and part of Muslim Royal blood in the shimmered surface of Lake Lanao. The distant tingle of a kulintang grown by her mother, Emma Colmenares who's adopted by a glamorous princess. There can be no goodbye for them, the connection still lives on although they're far to each other at the starting life point of a fourteen year old Angel. Since then she lived on with the unconditional love of her father who's name is Angelo Colmenares. Her human calculator, strength and hands to count on freely as provider.
Education is a gift that allows everyone to travel the mind and look beyond the world. Through the tides and stones that life took her to different places, she remembers who she is a humble student of Saint James College of Quezon City. And finished her secondary education at the oldest existing university in Asia, University of Sto. Tomas. In the year 2007 of August, she attended a short-course of fashion designing to be able to voice out a personality without saying a thing at Central Saint Martin’s College of Arts and Design at the place of Big Ben.
In the summer age of her teenage years, the vessel of her hearts never left the river that floated her beauty. Her splendid nose and eyes, into sun and honey time of her lips, no questions to drop she was unpredictably discovered roaming inside a shopping center by a talent scout in Quezon City instead of attending to school. Much control over life— one bump in the road won't stop her journey to explore. She auditioned for several commercials and supposed to be member of Star Circle Batch 9 in the network of ABS-CBN. However, she failed to commit her contract signing due to his father's rejection of the idea she's going to enter a publicly figure. Sometimes it takes an overwhelming breakdown to make an undeniable breakthrough, and so she did. She became a glittering star of GMA Artist Center. And for the longest time she's been walking alone, it's an open door to be included in the teen-oriented TV Show, Click and Ang Ibigin Ay Ikaw.
She waited her appearance in the reveries of the day, and it was like a pollen in spring. By the wind she carried away and far. After talking about Television series, people don't forget how movie films make them feel. Angel's first movie was in 2002 through Ping Lacson Supercop, wherein she played the role of a Young Robina Gokongwei. Then, Mano po 2 in the year 2003. Next is the teen-oriented movie Kuya in 2004, as well as the comedy film Singles. In addition, she starred in the drama Mano po III: My Love and the horrible film Sigaw which are both an entry to the 2004 Manila Film Festival.
Angel Locsin pour her energy and love into things that delight her heart and soul. In the moonlight, when day turns to night, and when the moon whisper to the starts, come to me. August 2004 looked across the road, while waiting to take it leads when it's her turn. A bird that calls out in rejoice, lifts its feather through the eyes of spectators. Indeed, fantasy-theme took the people's mind out of reality, wherein Angel Locsin portrayed the character "Alwina" alongside to the famous actor, Richard Gutierrez. They played a quantum leap through the television series Mulawin. The show was a huge victory and received its lofty ratings until to its end on March, 2005.
In the year 2005, the romantic film Let the Love Begin, released under the GMA network. She and Richard Gutierrez replayed their roles as Alwina and Aguiluz in the movie adaptation of Mulawin series, which is an entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival.
Created a charming atmosphere with a glowing cosmos. No where to be hidden, following Angel Locsin's success of Mulawin. On the same year, another fiction television series— she was cast in the title role in one of the most iconic hero in the Philippines, Darna. The show was also well received by the general audience, receiving extremely high ratings and breaking records set by her prior television show. Darna's pilot week average is 50.08 percent, with 52.1 percent being the highest and 33.3 percent being the lowest.
Indeed, a real life Darna. Yet she doesn't need to channel it. She's consistently helping the Gabriela Party list and many other Children Foundations in the country. In fact, April 23, 2007, she celebrated her birthday with the Gabriela— a political-sector party list that supports women and less fortunate children.
A great chemistry love team she made with Richard Gutierrez, they played more mature roles in the romantic drama, The Promise in 2007. Then in the same year, it followed by her own film entitled Angels, showed in theaters.
You sent
To see the world, not in the immensity of it, but in the little things that go unnoticed. The things that made Angel feel present and loved. She's the rare and the good kind, for she is the one who nurture the life. A steady soul for uncertain adventure, a mind filled with too many passions and dreams. An eye that refuses to see failure, and hands that sculpt the fantasies where Majika exist. Another television series of Angel together with Dennis Trillo, was played from March to September, in the year 2006. Angel is Sabrina, a seemingly ordinary woman who lived in the world of mortals without prior knowledge that she's destined to become the most compelling magician. After that, she was cast in the Asian treasures, an adventure quest that face perils as they seek hidden gems. Compare to Robin Padilla, it was Angel's first Philippine TV show aired in January to June of 2007 that shot in different countries, such as Thailand, Mongolia, and the land of the dragon, China.
In the same year, August 2007. Angel signed her two-year exclusive contract in the ABS-CBN Network, with her first on stage appearance to the show that brings light to extraordinary real-life stories and anecdotes of ordinary people as well as known celebrities in Maalaala Mo Kaya, episode "Pilat."
Angel is gifted enough with her acting skills, showed her prodigy and confidence. Struck by a mime, it's really a matter of time, a moment to reap the rewards of all she has sown, Angel won a Star award for Television Best Single Performance. In the next year, 2008. She launched her first drama series with the network together with Piolo Pascual, entitled Lobo. Wherein she received an International Emmy Award for Best Performance by an Actress nomination for her outstanding role in the series.
People fell in love with her colors. She is authentic just like her movie Love Me Again Together with Piolo Pascual in 2009. Additionally, she made a cameo in the romantic comedy film, My Amnesia Girl in 2010.
Her season to the mind is but excuses to burrow back in the comforting certainty of elapsed time as the quotidian sun drag itself from one corner to the other through sunken skies where each period, she receives a project. A Philippines imitation of the Korean drama of the same name shown in 2005 by SBS Korea, entitled Only You. Starring Angel Locsin in this top-rated Television series in 2009. Later on, the same year, she co-starred with the multi-awarded actor, John Lloyd Cruz in the TV series Immortal, which was a sequel to her previous film Lobo. She also appeared as a guest star in the comedy sitcom Toda Max in 2011. Yet her guest appearances, grew into a regular gig. After three years, in the 2014, Angel Locsin returned to primetime TV after three years through the remarkable hit series, The Legal Wife that breaks the Filipino heart.
In the Name of Love, Locsin's 2011 drama film featuring Aga Muhlach, received rave reviews. Her performance earned her numerous awards, including the Star Award for Movies for Movie Actress of the Year, the Gawad PASADO Award for Pinakapasadong Aktres, and a FAMAS Award nomination for best actress.
She debuted in the romantic comedy film Unofficially Yours with John Lloyd Cruz in 2012, and then in the drama film One More Try with Dingdong Dantes and Angelica Panganiban, which was Star Cinema's entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival. Film reviewers and media people lauded Locsin's performance in the latter, earning her the Star Award for Movies for Movie Actress of the Year for the second year in a row, the FAMAS Award for Best Actress, and the Film Academy of the Philippines Award for Best Actress.
People don't know the creak and crank of her bones, the blackness of her blood clots and the circumstances of her whole history. No matter what that mouth say, doesn't make her less of a person. Since in late 2015, Angel revealed that she's been suffering from a rare condition called "bulging disc injury." And underwent to a surgery repaired of her spine. One of the side effects of the legal drugs she's taking in are weight gain. With no options, she can't stop her medication since it will be going to affect her life. While the ABS-CBN Network took pain to explain that Angel is no longer allowed to do strenuous physical activities due to this spine injury caused by various roles with intensive physical training. A photo of her circulated on different platforms. However, she's an unbothered queen that many people stan.
In August 2017, a dating rumors sparked between Angel Locsin and Neil Arce, a professional poker player champion in 2009 Asian Poker Tour Philippines and a Filipino film producer. Neil appeared in Angel's Instagram profile during an opening of a dermatology clinic. Yet in September Angel confirmed that she was exclusively dating Neil but not yet in a relationship status. They both attended Anne Curtis and Erwan Heussaff wedding in New Zealand. In one of Angel's post, she wrote, "Anydau spent with you is my favorite day." that tagged Neil.
With 8 years of friendship, carefully holding each other's heart. They both know what they have gone through. Yet, they have no idea that this a start of a lifetime to fall in love with each other. He became the guy who can charm Angel across the room with just smile. And then, Angel found herself entwined with Neil’s strings and publicly announced their relationship in February 2018. It continued to bloom, as they traveled to several countries together. After that, in June 2019, proudly they want to extend to the next level, to allow both of themselves to take good care of each other’s for the rest of their lives, both announced that they were engaged.
Life throws unexpected events. Just like in 2020, Angel's wedding had to delay due to COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of planning to one of the most memorable moment of their lives, they poured themselves with relief operations during the pandemic and other disasters. However, in April 2020 when they launched the #UniTENTweStandPH a fundraising campaign to address the issue of hospitals overcrowding due to abundant cases of COVID-19. But this experience empowered more their relationship. Even when there are things that Angel and his fiance disagree, they still both end up in ways how to fix it. Additionally, they both decided to start a YouTube channel wherein they vlog about their daily lives, in September 2020.
Marriage works on give and take, to trust each other’s. Not measured in days or the changing of seasons. Love springs as lightly as the lovely rose upon the brier. Which turns a common hedge to a floral fire. Two love wings, with rosy feathered dart, a subtle works of art and purity. Tying the knot in 2021. Angel and Neil announced on August 7, 2021 their marriage, and moved to a new home.
With no doubt, Angel Locsin, holds a special place in many Filipino hearts. Beyond her various television series and films, called as the real life Darna, and also a philanthropist who's behind several causes of relief efforts for typhoon victims, Taal eruption, and COVID-19 patients. No wonder why she's a hero that don't need to wear capes. Despite the fact that she has gained weight in her 30s, she is uninterested with concealing her form beneath baggy attire. Indeed, her viral photographs from June 2020, in which she appears to be curvier while filming her docu-reality show Iba 'Yan, captivated netizens with her unapologetic confidence in her figure.
She's also a loving daughter. Angelo Colmenares, her father, has played a key role in shaping her into the woman she is today. And she never forgets to express her gratitude for her father, with whom she has shared her life since she was 14.
Angel was advocating for women's empowerment. Inspired by leaders such as the late Gina Lopez and Mother Teresa, Angel has been vocal about the issues surrounding women today such as gender-based stereotypes and violence. There is a stigma, which people inherited unconsciously from society on how women should behave, yet she expressed disappointment toward these negative connotations to women who tend to display a strong personality.
A true-blue philanthropist, Angel's charity and advocacy are not a one-off contribution, but in fact she's a consistent Angel, a hero since 2009. From typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng, through the Marawi siege in 2017. She flew to the war-torn city to visit the affected and distributed relief goods. She headed so many efforts with no surprise she named in Forbe's Asia'a Heroes Philanthropy list in 2019.
Little drops of water, little grains of sand and pleasant land. Angel is humble and down to earth. She led to a soul from the path of virtue, far from the sin to stray. Her deeds of kindness, words of love, make our hearts happy, like the heaven above. Because of Angel Locsin, there is adoring kindness that walks in the darkness, make its way among the bombs and broken lives. She offers blankets and a shoulder to cry on. Puts on kettles and bandages that mends what it should and not one thing back. That's what she is, with or without camera, she doesn't need to channel her inner Darna— she's already a true to life Darna.

The Voice of My Nation: An Autobiography of Nicole Anne L. Tropia
I am Nicole Anne L. Tropia, and I was born on February 4, 2003, at Toran, Aparri, Cagayan. My parents are both Ilocano. My father, Allan B. Tropia, is from La Union while my Mother, Ferdiliza V. Lobendino, is from Cagayan Valley. Up until now, they are still not married, and when I ask them why, they would always tell that there is no need for that kind of thing. Recently, we didn't expect a blessing to come to our family. I had my sibling after 16 years, and her name is Allizah Jeanne L. Tropia. The reason why it took a long time for me to have a sibling is that I'm not really fond of having one. I remember telling my parents and other members of my family, "Magpapasagasa ako kapag nagkaroon ako ng kapatid." My family was cautious when they told me about the pregnancy of my mom because they thought that I meant what I said before.
My family and I are music lovers. We sang along to old CD's, vinyl, and cassette tapes that we have in the house. Collecting old records has always been my family's hobby. Going to different antique shops and record stores is how I bond and spend time with them for a day. Here we get to talk about artists in the past and their contribution to the music industry. A reason why I also love going to antique shops is because of its musty smell together with the vintage set-up and classical songs playing in the background.
Aside from my mother and father, I was also raised by my grandparents, whose love for me is as deep as the oceans. They are the ones who inspired me to serve and do something for my country like what they did. My grandfather from mother's side, Tatay Rogelio, is a retired Soldier, a Dentist, and a Barangay Councilor. At the same time, from my father's side, Lolo Pido is also a Barangay Councilor and a Farmer. For me, they are my heroes, and I am very proud of them for dedicating their whole life to serve the country and provide the needs of its people. If the sugar rush was a person, then I would be that for my grandparents would always tell me that I was a lively and energetic kid. Every morning they would invite me to go with them to the market, and I will always look for my "Darna" costume to wear. People in the market would always tell me, "Totoy, salaan da kami man mut!" meaning if I could dance for them. "Totoy" is a nickname of mine given to me by my family. They got it from Vhong Navarro's song "Totoy Bibo" which tells about a kid named Totoy who loves to dance in front of many people. Up until now, whenever I go home to our province, people would ask me “Ikaw na ba si Totoy? Dati sinasayawan mo lang kami.”
At the age of 3, I already started schooling at Pattao Day Care Center in Cagayan Valley. I was the top 1 of our class with an award for consistently being neat and clean. After finishing nursery and kinder in our province, my family and I moved to Metro Manila. Here, I studied at a public school near our house, which is Libis Elementary School. As a child, moving to a different place is quite tricky. I was not used to the surroundings and also the people. However, I found my way of adjusting with the help of my parents, especially my mom. She is supportive of me when I was a child. She would always push me to join different co-curricular activities in our school, whether it is dancing, singing, acting, modeling, drawing, and even cooking. Before, I also joined a gymnastics class in our school; however, after three years, I stopped because we had numerous practices.
Starting from 4th grade, teachers would always give me the lead role in our book parades. I was enjoying the opportunity given to me to show my talents until the 6th grade. The book given to our section is "The Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." I was not expecting to get the lead role because, in the first place, my skin color is not light-toned, but still, my teacher chose me to play the role of Snow White. Some of my classmates bullied me because of that. Starting then, I lost my self-esteem and my interest in doing things. This event truly made a massive impact on my life.
As I remembered, my elementary days are also just full of games and stories with my friends. We spent our free time sitting under a tree and talking about our dreams or anything about ourselves. Before, being an only child is challenging because I don't have someone to play with and lean on to every day. Nevertheless, I never really felt alone because I have my friends with me. We usually stay at our house a lot of times and play Barbie's and Legos. Sometimes my mom would also invite them for a sleepover.
After graduating from elementary, I transferred to a private sectarian school in Quezon City, which is Stella Maris College. When I was in Junior High School, I became quiet and reserved. I wasn't able to show and enhance the talents that I had before. Stella Maris College is a school that I will never forget. Here, I met kind-hearted people. They welcomed me and treated me as a family. I didn't also excel in my academics until 9th grade. My friends, especially Angelica Lorenzana and Frances Lavinia Martin, have pushed me to study hard and do better in my academics. Since then, I became a consistent achiever. I can genuinely say that it is the most significant achievement that I had at that time.
I continued working hard for my academics, and I moved up from Junior High School. Now, I am a Senior High School student under the Humanities and Social Sciences strand still in Stella Maris College. Senior High School is a time for me to find again and establish my old self. I promised myself to not let any chance to walk out the door, so I joined an organization in our school called Nexus. This organization is responsible for documenting all the events within our campus. There, I slowly found my passion in the visual arts, such as photography and videography. In our subjects, I was also given the opportunity to showcase again my talents in performing arts. Being a HUMSS student has sincerely unleashed the creativity within me. I am now able to speak and perform in front of many people without being afraid.
In 11th grade, I became the top 7 of our batch. I am truly grateful for this milestone in my life. I have regained the confidence that I had before, and I have adequately expressed myself to other people. Now that I am in the 12th grade and an incoming college student, I have applied to various universities. First is my dream school, which is the Philippine Military Academy. However, I wasn't lucky enough to pass the exam. I felt disappointed with the results because it has been my dream ever since to be a soldier for my grandfather. I had a hard time moving on, but my friends and family made me feel better by telling me that I can always try again, and there are other ways I can do to help and serve my country. Aside from PMA, I also applied to other universities such as the University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and Saint Louise University in Baguio City with the course of BA Film and BA Psychology. At this point, I'm not sure where life will take me, but I believe that no matter where it is, I will always try hard and exert all my efforts to achieve all my dreams.

The Philippine "Komiks": Text as Containment 1997
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Questions for da: Interview with my dad
What was your favourite comic growing up? Filipino komiks- Darna but I forgot the story line. This was a long time ago. I’m not sure if I read it but I used to watch the tv series back in the Philippines. I remember one other comic but it wasn’t superhero related - it was more drama based. I was a kid back then so I don’t remember but that was what our source of entertainment back then. We mostly just play outside -“harangan at taga” (street games)
How much were comics back then? 2 pesos ata or 1 peso. I forgot. There weren’t computers back then.
Do you know much about what happened in WWII? No but my grandmas told me that the “hapon” (Japanese military) would take the women from our streets then they would use them for "comfort" and they would behead the women’s heads and parade them on the street to scare the people away. But I’m sure you can find stuff about this on google.
What did you learn from nanay? This is what lola said. (Referring to the question above) Your lola (grandma) told me about it you can ask her more because she was alive during that time.
What was it like living in the Philippines in the 70’s - I was just a kid back then; that’s when I was a baby. The houses were minimal and small back then. There was a lot of trees and we were still able to swim at the streams because the water was still clean back then. If you wanted a fruit you could just climb a tree. We would have Picnics at the rice Fields. When the 80’s came the pollution started to become worse “ligo kami sa ilog” “laro sa daan”
What was rhe comic trend back then? I forgot but I’m trying to remember because we used to read a lot when we went out at the rice fields
Did you read? Yes “tinanong mo na yan” Comics nga. Ah! I read horror comics back then but I forgot the names. I would always follow along the story of those types of comics. But when I became I Christian I gradually stopped reading because there was a lot of activities to do . When I was 7 your grandpa would leave me alone so I’d go play with my cousins outside on the street “sulok”
Reflection #1
After having a chat with my dad I found out a lot about his life back then even though he had trouble remembering the tiny details. He wasn't born in the 40's but my grandma was so he told me the stories that my grandma talked to him about. It was disturbing to hear about and heartbreaking. The info on the comfort women that were killed could help me to research bigger topics like feminism and women empowerment which is seen in Filipino Komiks. Some things I found out about my era of choice was that comics were cheap back then and that there are a lot of details about what the Japanese Empire did that didn't make it on the web.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the Philippines in the 1940s before WW2 - Panda Classic TV
This documentary film is made by the U.S. Army for the trainees going to the Philippines. It showcases how the Philippines was a Modern and Civilised Society before the war.
Reflection #2
This documentary shows the perspective of the Americans towards the Philippines back then. Calling it an "American City." - stating it as if the Philippines belonged to them. This piece of information and the documentary itself relates to my topic of Americanization in the Philippines through comics because it tells me not only what my country used to be like before the war but how other people's perspectives were like towards my country.

Mumbai: Bollywood composer-singer Wajid Khan of the popular sibling composer duo- Sajid-Wajid is no more. He passed away in the early hours on Monday.
Confirming the news, singer Sonu Nigam posted on his official social media handle: “My brother Wajid left us.”
The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, though unconfirmed reports have stated the artiste was suffering from COVID-19. A report in filmibeat.com, on the other hand, stated Wajid Khan had been suffering from a kidney problem over the past few years and had reportedly been on ventilator after being hospitalised recently.
Sajid-Wajid recently composed songs for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan during the ongoing lockdown, one of which was a number titled “Pyaar karona”, a pop anthem encouraging all to fight the coronavirus. The song released in April was sung by Salman and also featured the actor in the video.
The composer duo also recently composed Salman’s Eid special song, “Bhai bhai”, which talks of communal harmony.
Sajid-Wajid frequently collaborated as composers for Salman Khan. In fact, they made their debut in the 1998 Salman superhit, “Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya”, scoring one song in that film, “Teri jawani badi mast mast hai”.
Sajid-Wajid shot to fame with the Salman Khan blockbuster “Dabangg” in 2010, and there has been no looking back. Among numerous hits they composed were “Tere mast mast do nain” and “Hud hud Dabangg” (“Dabangg”), “Do you wanna partner” and “Soni de nakhre” (“Partner”), “Mujhse shaadi karogi” and “Laal dupatta” (“Mujhse Shaadi Karogi”), “Mashallah” (Ek Tha Tiger”), “Chinta ta chita” (“Rowdy Rathore”), “Fevicol se” (“Dabangg 2”) and “Raat bhar” (“Heropanti”).
As a singer, Wajid recorded many hit songs, including “Do you wanna partner” and “Soni de nakhre” (“Partner”), “Hud hud Dabangg” (“Dabangg”), “Chinta ta chita” (“Rowdy Rathore”), “Tujhe Aksa Beach” (“God Tussi Great Ho”) and “Jalwa” (“Wanted”).
Sajid-Wajid also composed for a few non-film albums. These are Son Nigam’s “Deewana”, Alka Yagnik and Babul Supriyo’s “Khoya Khoya Chand”, and Rahul Vaidya’s “Tera Intezaar”.
Wajid Khan also was a mentor of the music reality show “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar” and “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012”.
As the news of Wajid Khan’s demise spread, Bollywood took to social media to express grief and shock.
“Terrible news. The one thing I will always remember is Wajid bhai’s laugh. Always smiling. Gone too soon. My condolences to his family and everyone grieving. Rest in peace my friend. You are in my thoughts and prayers,” tweeted Priyanka Chopra.
Among the first to confirm the news with a tweet of condolence was composer Salim Merchant of the Salim-Suleiman duo. “Devastated with the news of the passing away of my brother Wajid of Sajid -Wajid fame. May Allah give strength to the family.. Safe travels bro.. @wajidkhan7 you’ve gone too soon. It’s a huge loss to our fraternity. I’m shocked & broken,” wrote Salim.
Vishal Dadlani wrote on Twitter: “Wajid Khan is gone far too soon. His talent and heart were never appreciated enough. All the times we planned to meet & never did because we were busy, those will always rankle. Sajid Khan, mere bhai. You will never be alone & our brother will forever be remembered.”

★ Sajid-Wajid and Salman Khan: Hit Bollywood songs by the Blockbuster Jodi!
June 1, 2020
Sajid-Wajid and Salman Khan have given numerous hit songs from the'90s. Singer-composer Wajid Khan of music director duo Sajid-Wajid first scored music for Salman Khan's Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya in 1998. The talented music composer (42), who has given Indian cinema some of its best died in the early hours of Monday in Mumbai. He had underlying kidney issues.
Wajid was one among Salman Khan's favourite music composers. Salman Khan's career best songs were composed by the composer duo Sajid-Wajid. He composed music for the Dabangg series, Jai Ho and Wanted. It is a pure coincidence that the composer who made his debut with Salman's song also ended his journey with the same actor. Wajid's last scored song, which was released last week on Eid, titled, Bhai Bhai, was also for the actor. Wajid made his debut in the 1998 Salman superhit, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, with the song Teri jawani badi mast mast hai. The duo shot to fame with the Salman Khan blockbuster Dabangg in 2010 with hits like Tere mast mast do nain and Hud hud Dabangg and then there was no looking back.
In an interview with Mirror Online during Dabanng 3 promotions, the duo had said that it was a part of a happy journey the two started with actor Salman Khan's first Dabanng outing, one they would want to take till Dabanng 10 at least. Speaking to Mirror Online, the duo talked about why they love working with Salman. They also addressed concerns of musicians losing out on royalties to studios that don't always give artistes their due. Wajid said, "I think the situation is better than before. We should always look at positive aspect. There is PRS, IPRS and others who are collecting royalties on behalf of composers and authors so I think you should always keep fingers crossed and think of the best days to come. Abhi jab itna acha huwa hain toh aur acha hojaega. Waqt toh lagta hain har chez k liye."
Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge (2002), Tere Naam (2003), Garv (2004), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Partner (2007), Hello (2008), God Tussi Great Ho(2008), Wanted (2009), Main Aur Mrs Khanna, (2009), Veer (2010), Dabangg(2010), No Problem (2010) are some of their films, they worked in. Kartik Aaryan has amped up his Instagram game like a pro. The actor has recently shifted or trying too hard to shift focus from his boy next door looks to becoming sex God. The big question that stands is whether he is trying to copy Salman Khan, the original beholder of the shirtless wave
The new heartthrob of the nation, Kartik Aaryan has upped his Instagram game like a pro. The actor, these days, posts very interesting stuff and raises the temperature as he goes shirtless. It almost seems that he is trying to be next Salman Khan or it’s just Kartik Aaryan being a fanboy and copying Salman Khan!
Most of the times that we catch a glimpse of this handsome hunk, he is flaunting his body on social media. But, Kartik Aaryan is relatively new in this shirtless game. We all know Salman Khan started this sizzling trend of going shirtless (all the time).
BOLLYWOOD SUPERSTAR SALMAN KHAN NEEDS NO REASON TO GO SHIRTLESS AND FLAUNT HIS CHISELED PHYSIQUE
The star, who has been giving fans fitness goals for almost three decades, has continued to do so with his regular feeds and workout. But, it seems like everyone is trying to recreate Salman Khan’s shirtless mantra whether it’s Kartik Aaryan or Vicky Kaushal. But can anyone truly match the bar that Salman’s raised?
Salman Khan started the trend of going shirtless in B-Town
India’s most eligible bachelor, Salman Khan, still owns the Midas touch and can give any actor a tough competition. Be it on-screen or off-screen, when it comes to going shirtless and flaunting his chiseled body, this 53-year-old gives all the newbies a run for their money hands down.
Kartik Aaryan is copying Salman Khan? Don’t believe us, see for yourself
Have a look at this recent picture shared by Kartik Aaryan on his social media account.
On the other hand, Salman Khan posed in a similar picture while he was shooting for ‘Bharat’. When placed side-by-side, these snaps show a striking resemblance. So, can we say that Kartik Aaryan is set out to follow the footsteps of Salman Khan?
Talking about Kartik Aaryan’s career, he made his debut in 2011 with ‘Pyar Ka Punchnama’ and then the actor was seen in ‘Pyar Ka Punchnama 2’, ‘Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety’ and ‘Luka Chuppi’. The actor has successfully impressed his fans with impeccable performances in the films. But that is not the only way he is wooing his fans (especially his female fan following).
So, do you think it is a strategy of Kartik Aaryan to increase his female fan following?
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
Even in gym workout pictures, Kartik Aaryan seems to follow Salman Khan. (Or is he is just the biggest fan?) Is this a mere show-off gimmick or a strategy to change his reputation as the cute boy next door to a sexy hunk? For all, we know this could be a preparation for a forthcoming film.
Can the shirtless trend take him to his career peak?
The ‘Luka Chuppi’ actor has decided to go shirtless in most of the pictures, does he think that this shirtless mantra can make him tick amongst his other contemporaries?
Bollywood is known as the world of showbiz and glamour. Every star today wants to be in perfect shape and to get a dream body. And to achieve perfection they work really hard. Many stars tried to go shirtless but clearly no one stands a chance to beat Salman Khan!
One should stay original and real
Kartik Aaryan looks damn good when he flaunts his body but he should create his own style rather than blindly aping any trend. Is going shirtless the easiest and shortest path to be famous?
Salman Khan and his signature way of wooing the fans by removing his shirt is something we can all swear by. No event or film can complete without Salman Khan tearing off his shirt. Sometimes it is over-the-top dramatic to be true. But over the years, it has become his signature move. And one that is expected to be part of the script.
He went shirtless for the first time in the year 1998 for the movie ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya.’ The special song ‘Oh Oh Jane Jaana‘ still beats in fans hearts every day and night. Salman Khan strung a guitar as he went shirtless to set the trend for generations of Bollywood to come.
Put your earphones and listen to ‘Oh Oh Jane Jaana’
Salman Khan slays like a boss
After Salman Khan went shirtless, this trend caught fire in Bollywood as many big names tried it out. So, this is not the first time that someone is trying to copy Salman Khan.
Many Bollywood actors who went shirtless and we feasted our eyes with the view. (However, not all the stars impressed us.) The list is long. Extremely long. And it includes big names like Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham, Ajay Devgan, and many others. While all these raised the temperature, their appearances did not rock the world like Salman Khan’s.
Recently, the 53-year-old Khan shared his ‘work in progress’ picture that made his fans swoon. With the waistband of his jeans rolled down, Salman showed off his washboard abs and flexed his muscles as he posed for the dreamy picture.
SALMAN KHAN LOOKED EVERY BIT STEAMING HOT IN THIS NEW PICTURE
On the work front, Kartik Aaryan’s kitty is full with movies. (Is it because of his carefully chiseled body?) He has completed shooting for Imitiaz Ali’s ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’ in which he is going to share screen space with Sara Ali Khan. Also, he started shooting for ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ with film stars Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Pandey. Moreover, he will be seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.’
What do you think, is Kartik Aaryan trying hard to copy Salman Khan or imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Let us know in the comment section below.
