A farming game set in a world inspired by mesoamerican civilizations of the past such as the aztec and the maya. You'd get a lot of the usual gameplay mechanics of farming games (such as fishing, foraging, mining, etc), but the farming mechanics would feature some of the characteristic farming techniques of the region, such as floating gardens, raised bed farming for the swampy areas or terrace farming in the mountainous areas. Your crops would be staple mesoamerican crops, such as corn, beans, squash, cassava, cacao and peppers, but there would also be travelling merchants selling seeds from other regions, such as tomato or potato seeds. Instead of a sprinkler system, you could create irrigation channels for your crops. At the start, your settlement would be a small village, but as you progressed in the game you'd be able to expand and turn it into a prosperous town.

Similar games that actually exist: (and by this I mean farming games set in something different from the stereotypical setting of the genre. There are a lot of other farming games with different settings, but for this list I only picked the ones inspired by real cultures and civilizations) Roots of Pacha, Daomei Village, Litchi Town, Tales of Seikyu, Gaucho and the Grassland, Pathless Woods

Featuring a throwback pixelated aesthetic, Daomei Village puts players in the role of a criminal who has found himself on the wrong side of the Emperor, but you’re given a chance to redeem yourself… if you play your cards right. Daomei Village due to rebuild the settlement with Linux?

Daomei Village farming sim RPG game holds hope for Linux support with Windows PC. Thanks to the details from the creative efforts of developer Gameparic. Due to make its way onto Steam. If you appreciate gaming in the early 90’ then you will appreciate Daomei Village. It's a bit rough, pixelated art and sounds you could never forget. This game also takes a lot from those good, old times, but combines it with modern RPG gameplay. Letting you take a deep dive into a pixelated world inspired by Chinese folklore. Daomei Village is a lot more than a simple game. It’s a story about changing your life. For your crimes, the Emperor has sent you to Daomei Village. From there you have to rebuild your settlement from scratch. All while gaining the trust of other villagers as you help them with everyday life. Repair their houses, build new ones, cultivate the fields and protect the village. A familiar style of gameplay for sure.

We are currently targeting a Windows PC and Steam platform, however, we do not rule out there will be a Linux port.

While not a full out confirmation for Daomei Village on Linux. The Discussions post does offer hope. Since it seems the developer is waiting for the release before issuing a native build. Also, giving the community time to cast their support and Tux Love. Which is due to offer single-player, online co-op, and LAN co-op.

Besides restoring the village you will have to pay your taxes. In Daomei Village you can’t make any more mistakes. One bad move can further enrage the Emperor. But if you will make him happy then - step by step - you will once more gain his trust. And as you gain it, he will let you travel to other regions. Due to learn about them and gain new technologies which will help you in your tasks. Daomei Village is a unique place. As you play you will come across the places inspired by Chinese dynasties. Such as their folklore and even demons. Daomei Village is a farming sim RPG game currently in development. The demo of the game will be available later in 2022. It will be released on Windows PC via Steam, with strong hope for a Linux release later.
