Well well well. It's an important day today and you ask me why? Because my OC, my boy Daniel Ferrante turns 26 today! So let's see a bit of his evolution through the years! (This will be a long post ops)
Let's see his evolution during the camp cretaceous events! (Tw: Blood)
First pic represents his first days at the camp when he still was a little shy 16yo boy with the passion of photography. He won the trip to Isla Nublar but not really interested in it, he just went because he had no choice, for his friend Raven and to take photos.
Middle pic. Daniel in the season 3 after the Scorpio Rex events. He decided to take on the responsibility of being one of the leaders so as not to leave everything on Darius' shoulders. Colder and detached than the start. His left eye got injured in the clash with the Scorpio Rex that occurres the night before the incident with Wu, in a desperate attempt to defend his friends. This will compromise his already precarious sight in subsequent seasons.
Third pic. Daniel two years later, at 18yo during the fallen kingdom events. For his left eye there was nothing to be done and it was replaced with a glass eye and underwent on a stabilization and correction surgery of the right eye since it was the only one working, not counting the numerous scars on his body. After high school he decides to return to Mantah Island and working with Mae and enroll the university (chemistry or something scientific). It took a lot of work to live with the traumas that the island had left him, but he is starting to find a balance between good and negative emotions, to have a little serenity after everything he has experienced. The help of his boyfriend Enea was essential to get back on track and start believing in something positive again. He keeps in touch with the whole camp fam. The return of his friend Raven, who had stayed on Nublar two years before will help him further.
Now let's look at him in Jwct/ Essence of chaos era!
After the dinosaurs began to expand on the mailand and having completed his studies at university, Daniel started to investigate with Brooklynn helping her with his scientific knowledge and photography in the various investigations and cases they have followed over the years in the dark side of the dinosaur market and their treatment in such contexts. He and Brooklynn often disappeared for months from the radar of their friends, preferring not to involve them because many of these cases were dangerous and there were rare moments when they returned from these missions wounded in a more or less severe way, with Enea to take charge of their injuries thanks to his knowledge of medicine since he attends that university faculty. In these years of working with Brooklynn, given the perilous nature of some missions, Daniel honed the fighting techniques he had acquired during the months at Isla Nublar now that his body, forged by years of gym and kickboxing, grown in height and musculature could support the load of intense workouts. He becomes a master in the use of knives (he always takes some with him) and sharp objects of any size and length, being almost unbeatable knowing how to use them even without the use of sight, sense on which he no longer relied despite the various operations. Another of his strong points is hand-to-hand combat.
In the last mission before the chaos theory / essence of chaos events, Daniel and Brooklynn thanks to their investigations start noticing anomalous events before all other members of the camp fam and the boy, by common agreement with her and Enea (the only one who knows everything that the two have done over the years) decides to infiltrate Biosyn to analyze the system and carve the weaknesses of the same company from within. Getting hired was easy thanks to his degree and photography skills and plus he was one of the Nublar eight: it was a marketing plus having him in their ranks. Daniel decides to completely isolate himself from the outside world, interacting with Brooklynn or Enea only to send them the information he could get inside the Biosyn, losing completely the relationships and becoming untraceable with the rest of the camp fam. He will discover the tragedy of Brooklynn only after at the black market in Malta, to conclude business for Biosyn in not exactly idyllic circumstances and will see the others only a few months later.
And then some other random picrews of him alone and with Enea! (TW: Blood and knives)

meet Danea L'appe! Art by the fantastic and lovely @mythical-illustrator
This lovely twi'lek grew up on Ryloth, raised by two trade workers. She worked at their business growing up and never had a formal education, but taught herself how to read and write out of a pure love for knowledge and understanding. Almost all her time not assisting her parents or helping out clients was spent with a book tucked underneath a counter or practicing her handwriting on a carved piece of wood.
Danea is quite shy and socially awkward, and one of those introverts who will find one person in a new situation and latch onto them for an indefinite amount of time. Bright-eyed (probably from all the caf), kind, and diligent, she wants to be a scholar and has gotten a scholarship to the University of Coruscant to do just that.
Tech is her ultimate sweetheart in my WIP professor!Tech au, and their story has much more to tell and there is lots more to unfold. However, I also have a WIP including her and @mythical-illustrator clone trooper OC, Carpal.
There is so much more character-building and general information about her I'd love to share and create, so PLEASE don't be afraid to drop into my asks with any questions, headcanons, ideas, prompts, etc. I'd love to hear them!!

Is a Bat a Dragon? We Asked James Rollins
By now, Tor is at the forefront of research into what exactly constitutes "dragon." We've entertained many queries throughout the years, determining if the umbrella of dragon extends to hippos, snakes, and Godzilla. Now, we turn to the expertise of James Rollins to advise on the dragonic status of bats. If you've read The Starless Crown and its sequel The Cradle of Ice, you probably know the answer.
Check it out!
by James Rollins
My love for the natural world and all its myriad creatures was one of my main drives for pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. Even today as a full-time writer, I’ve not fully stepped away from that profession. As I’ve stated many times during book talks—yes, I can still neuter a cat in under thirty seconds.
Still, my greatest fascination about Nature is how it adheres to a dictate stated so succinctly in Jurassic Park: Life will find a way. I’ve always been captivated by the manner in which animals and plants discover innovative survival strategies to fill different environmental niches and how that fight has resulted in all the marvels (and horrors) found in the natural world.
While growing up, I found a new way of exploring this subject matter: in science fiction and fantasy novels set on different worlds. I found myself especially drawn to material that explored life’s resilience across fantastic worlds. Whether it was the sandworms of Herbert’s Dune, the engineered landscape of Niven’s Ringworld, the many species of Card’s Ender’s Game, or a universe of other writers tackling how life finds a way.
Even when it came to those novels that featured dragons, I found myself most interested in the biology and the circumstance of their origins. How did the telepathy and bonding in Anne McCaffrey’s Pern books come about? What steps were taken to harness the physicality of dragons to become warriors in Novik’s Temeraire series? In Martin’s books, could dragon eggs truly be encysted for ages and require fire to bring them back to life? If so, how and why?
When it came to crafting my own fantastic world in the Moonfall Saga, I took a similar scientific eye to its construction. The series takes place on a tidally locked planet, a world that circles its sun with one side forever facing the sun, the other locked in eternal darkness. The only truly livable clime is the band between those extremes of ice and fire. Across such a harsh and unforgiving landscape, I wanted to build a biosphere of flora and fauna that made evolutionary sense. How would species survive the extreme cold and lack of sunlight? Could life find a way in the sunblasted hemisphere?
And what about dragons?
In the novel, one of the apex predators is a species of massive bat, with a wingspan of ten meters or more. We first see them in Book One (The Starless Crown). They inhabit the vast swamplands of Mýr—found in that more temperate climate of the world. They are nocturnal, haunting a drowned forest and roosting in a volcanic mountain. I wanted those bats to make biological sense, to have them fit that environmental niche in a natural way. Being arboreal, they would likely have evolved prehensile tails. As nocturnal creatures, they would need bell-shaped ears and still use ultrasonics to navigate. And without giving away any of the surprises in the books, there is a significant aspect to their biology that will allow them to bond to certain people.
In the books, I also wanted to add a level of verisimilitude to the bestiary by adding naturalistic sketches, drawings that you might find in a turn-of-the-century research journal.
Here is the Mýr bat:

Keep in mind, life will find a way, so this species is not limited to those swamplands. A subspecies evolved in the dark, frozen half of the world. It adapted to fit that harsh niche, becoming smaller and stockier, with shaggy fur, and nasal flaps that could seal to conserve body heat. Likewise, in this treeless landscape, that prehensile tail would no longer be needed. They make an appearance in the second book in the series, The Cradle of Ice.
Here is their sketch:

But what about the title of this blog post: Is a bat a dragon?
In the third volume in the series (A Dragon of Black Glass), which will be coming out in 2024, this species has also adapted to the sunblasted half of the world. To survive, they would need to burrow to survive, growing larger claws for digging, and bodies that would be hairless and elongated, with fanned tails for aerial maneuvering when out of their burrows. They would become known as “sanddragons.”
Here is a sneak peek at their preliminary incarnation (with the final version still to come):

I must note that all of these drawings were beautifully executed by graphic artist, Danea Fidler—as were all the other creature sketches featured in the books. I look forward to sharing the final versions of these “dragons” in 2024 when A Dragon of Black Glass hits bookshelves.

thank you for asking these and creating such a fun space for discussion and sharing!! for this, I'm going to go talk about danea for a little as she's been on my mind lately.
danea has a very soft and quiet voice. she's a gentle soul, so there's no surprise there. but her voice when she speaks twi'leki/ryl is actually much more confident. especially as she was growing up working at her parents shop.
in the same notion, danea grew up on ryloth! her parents were both trade workers and she therefore helped them out and was expected to take over the business as she got older, but instead was able to get a scholarship to coruscant u and get the education she always dreamed of.
ideal weapon? the mere of idea of being caught in a physical fight makes danea want to cry. although, if caught in a fight, she'd probably want to have some kind of hammer or cutting tool at hand, as its what she knows how to work the most.
Let's start something fun! 😂 Each Sunday, I'll post three random questions for you to answer for one or more of your OCs. Feel free to link the work(s) they appear in, too! We'll have a little showcase where you might discover someone that piques your interest and voila! Something new to read! 😁 As for the image? Random dude I found on Canva, with so much sass and so much cake that I had to include him. 🤣🙈 And apparently all of this is going to have a 70's vibe, LOL.
How would you describe your OC's voice?
Where did they grow up?
What would be their ideal weapon in a fight?

I Do Not Have Wings Love I Never Will
by XFiddlin_FishSticsX Prince Timothy Drake-Wayne is exhausted, he has just finished saving his adoptive father from a horrid fate and is now facing an impending peace treaty agreement meeting with the country they have been at war with as long as Tim has been alive. The country Tim just rescued his father from. A successful rebellion rose up from within and replaced the blood heir to the high throne of The Infinite Realms...however, High King Danea Erebos, no matter how different, looks a whole lot like Tim's best friend Danny Fenton, who disappeared at the age of 16 and never came back. Seems he may be a bit overdue. Danny is exhausted, he has just finished overthrowing a tyrannical god-like king and has been crowned the high king in Pariah's place, as he should've been anyways. Now he has a peace treaty to obtain with literally all of the nations the Realms have been at war with because he has no desire to be at war any longer and they need allies and resources stat. mmmmmm yes i love these two so much, this makes me so happy ahhh
Relationship HCs - ✨Fox x Daria Trace✨
These all make my brain short circuit because the brain rot I have for these two is severe 😌 more to come soon I’m sure 😅
SFW in the first half, NSFW in the second
Fox doing push-ups while Daria sits on his back, fiddling with a Rubik’s Cube or doing a crossword puzzle
Making each other lunch for work
Daria setting an alarm, so she can wake up to greet Fox when he comes home from a late shift
Daria picking up Mando’a and surprising Fox with it randomly (specifically to tell him she’s ready to leave a party)
Fox wearing headbands that match whatever color Daria’s hair is at the time to hold his curls back
Fox teaching Daria to shoot, immediately regretting it because she’s so smug about her new skills 😎
Daria painting Fox’s toes while they talk about how their day went. Fox painting her toes while she paints her nails because they’re cute *and* efficient
Daria putting on Fox’s helmet whenever she is doing an impression of him; he calls her an unbelievable brat, but it tickles him immensely
Sitting on opposite ends of the couch until Daria’s had enough and gets in Fox’s lap
Dancing in the living room randomly
Calling each other Trace and Commander when they’re mad at each other
Fox being the first man Daria’s ever subbed for
Super chill morning sex on days off
They make office visits solely to tease each other and fool around. Everyone at RTL gives Fox knowing smiles when he leaves, the Corries do the same to Daria
Daria exploiting Fox’s voice kink whenever possible
Fox edging Daria for a day or two and then making her come over and over until she begs him to stop
Fox making sure there are always marks on Daria’s thighs
Both of them being possessive
Both of them enjoying their size difference
Fox randomly asking for Daria to hand over her panties when they’re at dinner. She’s gotten very skilled at removing them quickly and quietly. If she’s not wearing any, he’s going to edge her right there at the table

8% percent drop in religious attendance under Trump's first presidential term. What will his 2nd term look like? Gallup data showed a large 8% percent drop in religious membership at churches or synagogues during Trump's first presidential term from 2016 to 2020. From 55% attending to 47%. Both have a high respect for rules; though, danea is more logical and free-thinking when bending or breaking them might be necessary. It drives dogma crazy. But Danea is way too good at arguing for him to ever indeed win. He's too stubborn to admit he's lost.
Dogma loves to challenge her thoughts because he enjoys seeing Danea rant or rave about things passionately or negotiate with herself, he loves her mind like that. It comes off as seeking argument or conflict with others, but it's just them having riveting discussions.
Dogma is schedule-oriented while Danea kind of goes with the flow of the day (yet always manages to get everything done, to Dogma's surprise.
Cloudgazing. Nature walks. Each of them appreciates the natural world and likes to observe it together.
A lot of subtle, clever, oddly intimate inside jokes and phrases.
They'll mutter random observations of things happening around them. if you hear a tiny giggle from Danea, just know Dogma just said the most out-of-pocket thing you've ever heard.
Every night, Dogma kisses the tip of her nose and mouths I love you, almost like a mantra, before he falls asleep.

Focusing on the Ovid version of Medusa is not only inaccurate to actual Greek mythology but also decentres the actual victims of the story; Danea and Andromeda. The actual greek version of Medusa was a born monster, not a victim. Focus on the actual victims of Greek myths rather than making new ones.
Plus, perseus wasn't a violent sociopath, he was a young man in a horrible circumstance trying to protect his mother from an abuser that had significant power over them.

something. about. the horror of being sent on an impossible (death) quest and obligations and hospitality politics. the trauma of not having a home, and then the trauma of being in a house that becomes actively hostile to you, one that would swallow you whole and spit out your bones if you step out of line. all of this is conditional, your existence continues to be something men want gone.
it's about going back as far as I can with the perseus narrative because there's always a version of a myth that exists behind the one that survives. the missing pieces are clearly defined, but the oldest recorded version of it isn't there! and there's probably something older before that!! but it's doomed to forever be an unfilled space, clearly defined by an outline of something that was there and continues to be there in it's absence.
and love. it's also about love. even when you had nothing, you had love.
on the opposite side of the spectrum, this is Not About Ovid Or Roman-Renaissance Reception, Depictions And Discourses On The Perseus Narrative.

I've never trusted gc2b because there were never any guys on t in the promo materials I've seen. Same with shapeshifters. Calling it a binder bra sets of the most toxic vibes to me.
I got 2 custom untag binders back when they were still transmissie/danea bc they were local. Would recon them, they don't dig into your skin and are quite breathable.
I started gel, switched to injections but quit because nebido wasn't covered by insurance
(nebido it a long lasting T shot, like, 3 months)
It's covered now but I'm going no/low T to keep my hair. Started T again today because I'm really depressed off T and cold and weak.
Still not sure what my gender is but fem stuff ain't for me,
If u just want to block periods u can do that BTW, and some of the meds for that are mildly androgenic.
Protip for the ftx enbies
I only came out in 2015 and i still feel like an old man in comparison to the ftm community now. everyone’s moved on. gc2b’s quality is apperantly shit now but back in my day there was literally only two binder brands and they were the ‘good one’. taping is as popular if not more than binding and i remember when transtape was founded. its literally so insane how like half the brands i remember as THE packer brands or THE binder brands aren’t talked about literally at all anymore. its wild to me
#Memory#I'm technically not trans and detrans I think#Because of the nb to binary to nb#Idk fuck gender let people be who they want#Just be extra careful with hormones if you're nb#That's all
