It is Halloween costume week at the dance studio. I made this mason bee costume over the weekend. Mason bees are solitary bees that come in regular bee colors, but some species are blue and/or green. They aren’t really striped, but the stripes were needed for it to read as “bee.”

It is just a little tunic with slits up the side for freedom of movement. The wings were particularly fun for turns.

Once you're done understanding music by listening to the type of music you are attracted to move on naturally, the Second is to Understand Your Rhythm..

Once you're done understanding what type of music you like moving to, listen to it even more.. and understand your movement. Understand how many times you bob your head. Is it 10? How are you counting? Till 8?

So we go, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

We go differently with counts as we get to the choreography stage, but that's later.

Dance starts with you. Once you get you, you can learn more. I believe so.

To sum it up, you understand rhythm (in movement) by realizing how many times you Bob your head to a beat and then repeating it, hence creating a rhythm in your movement.

Sorry they are titled sideways! Today in dance I was given a genre (Ballet) and had to cover some prompts, I ended up convincing my teacher to just let me draw a bunch of ballet related images.

Random fact about me: While it is partly true I like to get more stretching in besides our warm up...the bigger reason I show up at the dance studio 10-15 minutes before class starts is because I secretly love being in an empty studio. I have no idea why but sitting alone in an empty dance studio room is my absolute happy place. So yeah I sat alone in a dance studio room before a two hour ballet class today.
