when I tell people I dance, they might ask “where do you take classes?”. i don’t. dance for me does not mean fancy dresses and pointe shoes, although I admire those who do that specific type. for me, dance is something you can do in your basement to your favorite song. it’s an outlet, and it doesn’t matter how you do it. where you do it. what you look like doing it. it’s not something I feel the need to perform or anything like that. just do, because it makes me feel alright. i can release my emotions by simply moving my body to a rhythm. music and dance are so powerful in their own way and it’s a different experience for each dancer.
