âFor the hardcore Richonnersâđ« đźâđšđ
"The episode Danai wrote is pretty incredible," co-star Lesley-Ann Brandt told ComicBook. "I think it's just for the purists. It's for the hardcore 'Richonners.' That episode is for them."
Richonners are still winning. Love this for us.

Went yesterday to the doctor because I went 2 weeks ago today to get a referral for blood work for school/work. Their internet was down so they took my papers and said once it was up they'd send it to the place and send me a copy. I gave them 2 days. I called Saturday, Monday and nothing. Left a message to the blood lab Monday morning. Nothing. I went yesterday and ONE person did the thing, well turns out I didn't need it cause they still sent it over. Well whatever I got a copy. I went to the blood spot today, and the tech was super rude. The temptation to tell her I hope she gets some D soon Was real. But I ofcourse always have to be the adult. Disgusting I know.
Anywho I walked over to Dyckman to get some food cause I hadn't eaten and it hit me that when I was growing up all the people working in Dyckman were my age or older, now they are much younger. Decade plus and rude as f. I had ONE nice younger girl today but that's it. It also hit me that the last time I was in Dyckman must of been HS back in 2003-2007 and the apparently now exit only train station probably still looks like an episode of Criminal Minds/SVU where there's a rape victim bleeding out but no one knows cause no one goes to the lower level.
Dyckman was a disappointment, not as lively as it used to be.
Anywho after food I walked a few blocks to get the train (still hood) then one stop over to 181st & St. Nicholas (or as it's referred to....Washington Heights) I was just a few blocks from The U jted Palace theater. And it was so lively. Not as lively as it was when I was growing up and not as lively as it is in the summer/warmer months but still bustling. Im sad that I'm heading back to The Bronx. I Remember my old client telling me how The BX has lots of cool/fun/interesting stuff to do cause I said I was going to see Lin and The Lopezes at United Palace and the month before I had see Lin & Danai Gurira there too and complained how The Bronx, was so boring. I explained that the things I liked, musicals, concerts, plays, skating, the arts, my people, the people I had most in common with, were all outside of The Bronx and all the activities that interest me are rarely if ever in The Bronx and if they are it's a low rent watered down hood version and we Bronxities ruin it by being loud/extra/hood/unappreciative/Clown on it.
A prime example of this is when the Dolphins were in The BX River a couple of months back and ppl were talking shit in the IG comments. I, with my highest liked comment said, "we aren't scientists or marine biologists regress of why they are there, it's a rare sight, just enjoy it. Why the f do we Bronxitites gotta ruin everything. Enjoy it or just shut up and don't ruin it for every one. Just go on your merry way."
There's no need for it. I've always felt out of place in The Bronx. It feels like there's no going up from there. Why do you think all the still relevant celebs who live until adulthood in the bronx move out of the bronx as soon as they make good money? Cause there's literally nothing here.
I always loved going to WH when I was a kid. Even with it was with my mom being embarrassing and slow. I honestly would rather live there than the BX. And guess who else lives there, apparently walking distance from the United palace?? Lin.

mag 53 crusader: angelina jolie being v vocal about pegging her bf
mag 58 trail rations: the catering of the new power rangers movie being just âa pile of coke w a little spoonâ to quote
mag 69 thought for the day: shakira evading spanish taxes.
may 77 the kind mother: whatever tf yolanda hadid is doing w gigi and bella in like general.
mag 84 possessive: this isnât a conspiracy the queen definitely orchestrated princess dianaâs death. also meghan and harry leaving the royal family for a netflix or amazon deal thatâs going to get them $$$$$$$$$.

My Avengers Endgame World Premiere experience
this is really long, lota rambling feel free to read skim anything idc, no spoilers bc this was on Monday before I saw the movie :)Â
Ok Ima start Saturday night, this is when I was packing making and painting my posters that said âThank You Avengersâ, I live in California so I didnât have to fly to this event. At 12am we (my family) we arrive in Los Angeles around 5am. At this time I thought that the premiere was going to be at El Capitan Theatre where it was originally supposed to be. We drive by the theater and we see no one is in line which was weird bc normally there would be people here already so i search and find the location which was switched last min (smh) the drive to the next location wasnt too long but at least i knew i was at the right location bc of the small group of fans and the giant poster that said Avengers Endgame World Premiere. Apparently they changed the location bc they needed a larger screening room and they didnt want tons of fans showing up, there were these girls that were waiting at the El Capitan for 2 hours before they realized something was up. Anyway, we get in line. People who were in charge told the people who stayed over night to go home bc there wasnt going to be a fan area. No one left ofc who would hell no. Then some people went on twitter to talk about it made signs it was confusing but we ended up in a fan area after going through security. We got into the fan area at 12 ish and we had to stand there for another 4 and a half hours before anything exciting happens. Now its around 4pm people are starting to arrive. (THIS IS WHEN THE ACTION STARTS) Benedict Wong then Joe Russo. Not many came all the way down the line, I was the last one on the line before it wrapped around the corner. But I did want to get barricade and able to see action so Im grateful for my spot. Then Anthony Mackie arrives heâs walking to end of the fan area around the small corner but as hes walking right as he gets near me i scream at the top of my lungs, he stops right in front of me and i go âAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!ANTHONYYYYY MACKiE I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!â he looks at me biggest smile. We had a whole moment together its hard to explain its kinda like a âyou had to be there momentâ i was the longest person probably a good 20 seconds (which is a long ass time in these times when they are in a rush) he was at and while im screaming and fangirling he air grabs my head to fucking sign my forehead i closed my eyes and accepted it he didnt do it ofc but he was just a fun guy i love him soooo much he signs my posters while saying âThereâs no black guy on hereâ (i did an original 6 themed avengers poster) but he signed than signed my bosslogic poster which he was in. paul rudd comes by hes just a rocking dude i love scott lang sm, he was so sweets v cool guys sm love for him. Then at around 5pm Chris freaking Hemsworth arrives I loose my shit and so does everyone else. Just like Joe, Benedict Wong & Anthony he also went around the corner to make sure they got all of the fans (thank u to all who did this). Ive loved Hemsie for the longest time, i did get teary eyed but i didnt cry (yet) he was just the sweetest I was able to take a crappy photo with him bc i wasnt able to function properly as i took the pic my dumbass was like âiLOvEyoUsOmUChâ its oka cause he has the cutest smile and the bluest eyes oh and i cant stress enough he smelled so good sooooo good normally i hate when guys coat themselves in cologne cause it smells bad, but his didnt, his smelled so good i was so shook like chris drop what cologne u used idc its for guys mama neeeddds. THEN IT hAPPENEd CHRISTOPHER ROBERT EVANS DRIVES BY. Everyone was like âomg is that chris evans?!â I stand on the barricade to see if i can catch a peak, istg the moment the fucking moment he gets out the car i start to bawl my eyes out. This man who has meant more to me than anyone is over there i couldnt believe i was seeing my favorite human ever. Iâve only sobbed right as i saw my fave once before back in 2016 at the Passengers premiere when I met Jennifer Lawrence. People dont really understand the moment like this person has inspired me so much of course im going to cry and sure judge me for it but they helped me through so much. Anyway he looked soo hot in his blue suit and sunglasses. I kinda calm down bc i didnt know if he was going to come all the way down the line and yk my ass wanted a pic but he was cut half way though the people which was upsetting but again im extremely grateful to be able to see him. Then my main fucking man. Sebastian Stan arrives. see ive met the guy before last year at ace comic con (there was tea w my photo op being really messy and i hated it i got a refund u can read about that on my ace comic con post). anyway i see him. i dont cry im trying to wipe my tears i was more prepared cause ive seen him before it was gonna be ok. I lose my shit the man was wearing a baby blue pastel colored suit. fucking beautiful. iconic. very hot of you mr seb ty. hes walking down and hes getting close. he wasnt to smiley, he was taking pics but he was focused on the fans signing for as many fans as possible. He gets to me and he sees our pics then he looks u so we could take a pic and his smile just transforms you can just see his face just glow up it was the truly the cutest this ive ever experience. then we look up from the pic and hes smiling at me i tell him âI love you so muchâ i hear him chuckle but as he says something his security guy yells âthank you that enoughâ so ill be posting the vid of us and any lip readers can help a girl out ill love you forever. I ended up being Sebs last person from the fan area. he truly made my day, week fucking year. then other celebs such as jon favreau, benedict cumberbatch comes by. Jeremy Renner comes by. I shoot my shot and make small talk w Jeremy. I go âHi Jermey howâs your day going?â he goes âIâm doing really good, how bout you?â he signs my things i excitingly tell him âIâm doing great thank youâ then he goes âThank you honeyâ and smiles at me. It made me really happy, i could tell he was a bit tired but Jeremy is such a sweetheart he doesnt get the credit he deserves i love him sm, ive always has a little part of my heart for Hawkeye. minutes go by. I see Lizzie Olsen, Danai Gurira, beautiful ofc. then i see fucking Mark Ruffalo hes just standing behind one of the SUVs and the sun is on him. He looked like a confused puppy it was so cute and soft, i love my ruffalo buffalo. I took my moment to scream âiS THat MARK ruFFALO?â i dont think he signed for many fans. Scarjo arrives she doesnt sign for many either she looked beautiful v pretty. a little while passes than the most bitching car comes by and stops where the cars stop until the drop off area clears and they can go. we all knew who ever was in that car he was important. then it was his time to go cause the drop off area was cleared. guess who was in the drivers seat. You guessed right. Robert Downey Jr rolling up in an Audi E-TRON, with his wife Susan Downey in the passenger seat. Truly the Tony Stark entrance. he doesnt sign for many ofc. at this time it was getting later near 6pm almost all celebs and guests are inside where the actual premiere set up is. then Vin Diesel comes in. He was the most fan based guy. even though he was running late he ran (literally speed walking) through the whole line of fans around the corner and everything. he had the biggest smile on. wearing his groot jacket. and if u dont know fast and furious are one of my fave franchises of all time so i was having the best time. then that was the last person and we started heading out. i didnt name all who ive seen since there was just to many and i probably missed some things but i loved my experience. i was able to see all the original avengers irl and that made me really happy. this whole cast means the world to me. ill love them foreverÂ
#:)#ty to the ones who read#i didnt re read it so if there's any typos oh well ig#avengers endgame world premiere#Endgame prem!

Black Panther Thoughts/Review
Just got back from seeing Black Panther, what can be said that hasnât already, it lived upto the hype. I loved the storyline which felt very topical right now considering how things have been the last year. I donât want to give anything away but i will say it definitely felt like a worthy addition to the mcu and i am so glad wakanda has inspired so many people, we always need hope and things to inspire us. and this movie does that. I really like Chadwick Bosemanâs portrayal of Tâchalla, a man torn between doing what is the right thing for his people while also bearing the weight of his fatherâs crown. I definitely feel his characterâs thoughts in every decision he makes and how torn he is trying to live upto expectations dating back generations. I loved his chemistry with Letitia Wright (Who i freaking loved in this) as Shuri, very believable as brother and sister and i am definitely looking forward to seeing more scenes with them as they felt so real and natural. Lupita Nyongâo and Danai Gurira were also amazing as Nakia and Okoye I loved the world building they have achieved in this movie where everyone in Wakanda feels as important as say tâchalla himself, i ended up liking everyone I want more MâBaku, way, way more MâBaku. With villains, i was really excited to see more of Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaw as i have been waiting to see him again since his brief appearance in Age of Ultron, was very pleased to see him go all out, even if his appearance again was brief. Michael B Jordan however stole the movie as Erik Killmonger, iâve been feeling pretty disappointed in the mcu villains sans notable exceptions like loki, nebula etc i feel that that in part is due to them not having enough screentime to be memorable or engaging. Killmonger however was one of the stand out performances in this film. he is definitely given a backstory that u can understand and almost sympathize with him as if things had been different he might not have turned out the way he did. Stuff like this is always so thought provoking for me with villains. Jordanâs performance is such a good balance of malicious, vanity, vengeful and being charismatic enough to pull his plan together. Anyone can say i want to take over the world but jordanâs performance/deliveries were on point. I would honestly say he is my favourite mcu villain besides Tom Hiddlestonâs Loki. i loved the respect/portrayal of cultures in this, more of this hollywood please the costumes were great and very well thought out. I also enjoyed the music both the score and the kendrick songs, all those lovely African instruments and rythyms. Fantastic.
all in all i was very impressed and i highly recommend 9/10

Clayray Closeout 2018
Another momentous year has passed, and I am feeling reflective about my tastes and my year, so once again, clayray is closing out the year. Usually I donât do this, but this year, I traveled a lot, like A LOT a lot, and I made the move across the country to LA, so before I reflect on my media consumption, here is a list of all the places I went to this year:
January - Baltimore for a baby shower February - San Francisco Sonoma for a wine tasting trip with college friends March - New York City to see musicals April - Las Vegas for PBS TechCon Two days after getting back - Sarasota for Roadshow Less then a week after - Tulsa for Roadshow May - San Francisco for CAAMFest Louisville for Roadshow Literally the day after - LA San Diego for Roadshow June - Detroit for Roadshow Toronto with mom Montreal to see Sarah July - Charlotte to meet up with Colleen and Katy Smoky Mountains for a bridal shower New Hampshire for a wedding September - Moved to LA! October - San Francisco for a wedding Boston Newport for a wedding November - Florida for Thanksgiving
Whew! As you can see, August and December were the only months that I didnât travel, and that was because August was spent preparing for my big move and in December, my family came to me. What with layovers, I was on 33 flights plus 5 significant buses plus several âroad tripsâ with friends/family, too. And some of these trips were so back-to-back that I barely spent any time sleeping in my own bed!
Now, Iâm still in a weird period of transition, but soon enough, I will develop a routine and establish a place here. I moved across the country with no job, no apartment, and very few friends, and it was a humongous change to make. But as scary and hard as it can be, I think I have enough faith in myself that it will all work out and I will be okay. And with that, Iâm looking forward to 2019!
But meanwhile, continuing to look back:
Music - Artists
La Luz
Joywave
Jesse McCartney
Younha
Saint Motel
30 Seconds to Mars
Betty Who
The Aces
BTS
Infinite
As always, artists that I saw live are a huge presence in this list: La Luz, Saint Motel, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Betty Who, and technically I was walking up to the venue when Joywave was playing (which I am still bitter about, for the record.) Other artists I saw live this year: MisterWives and Walk the Moon opening for 30 Seconds to Mars, Tamia, Duckwrth and Buyepongo at the Made in LA Festival literally my second day in LA, Gymshorts opening for La Luz, Vincent ValliÚres and Brigitte Boisjoli and Martha Wainwright and Michel Rivard and KlÎ Pelgag at the Fete in Montreal, Bleachers, Sara Bareilles at MisCast, Dionysia and Bazmati Vice, Gryffin, and I guess technically I saw Pregnant Boy.
I have been in love with Jesse McCartney since I was 11 and he released new music this year, which I adored (which you will soon see in the Top Tracks), so of course heâs that high up. Similarly, Younha released an excellent album this year and Iâve always loved her. I actually didnât find Infiniteâs album particularly thrilling, but I guess I liked it well enough that I wouldnât skip their songs whenever they came up.
I had actually listened to The Aces before, but this year was when I really got into them. Their album is stellar and I love their sound and their look!
And as for BTS, my momâs actually a huge fan and there was no escaping their immense worldwide popularity. I remember when they debuted! Itâs great to see how they have grown to be the K-Pop group that has âmade itâ to the States.
This is the first time in a long time that my all-time favorites like Secret and McFly havenât been in the top. Secretâs disbandment really hurt, even though we all saw it coming, and Iâm still not over it.
Odesza didnât make it up to the very top, but I also listened to them a lot with my boyfriend. :)
Music - Albums
Younha - RescuE
The Aces - When My Heart Felt Volcanic
Infinite - TOP SEED
Hamilton OBCR
Alexz Johnson - A Stranger Time
Dan Masterson - When Reality Calls
La Luz - Floating Features
Janelle MonĂĄe - Dirty Computer
Eric Nam - Honestly
Anastasia OBCR
Unsurprisingly, my top artists are showing up in the top albums. I was surprised to see that the Hamilton OBCR was so high, but then I remembered that I featured it heavily in my 4th of July playlist that I played during my party. Iâve been fond of Alexz Johnson since Instant Star, even though I didnât actually watch the show, and my friend Schuyler and I had a bit of a phase reminiscing about that era of âteen showâ singers like her and also Drake Bell.
Dan Masterson is, full disclosure, a friend of mine from college, but his album is really excellent, and you should check it out if youâre interested in piano-based singer-songwriter tunes!
What is there to say about Janelle MonĂĄe except that she is a beacon of brilliance, and we are lucky just to be able to witness it.
The other musical on this list is Anastasia, which is one of the musicals I saw this year. I saw it on Derek Klenaâs last evening performance, which is actually one of two times that I saw him. I also saw him in Jagged Little Pill at the A.R.T (he is not the best part of that show, though, Lauren Pattenâs âYou Oughta Knowâ is hands down unequivocally the showstopper). The other musicals I saw this year were Allegiance, Hello! Dolly, and I saw the Geniesâ Jukebox. Not a musical, but I also saw the off-Broadway show Puffs, which was hysterical.
Iâm not sure why I didnât pay attention as much, but Death Cabâs album this year is pretty great. I didnât love the Arctic Monkeysâ album as much as I wanted to, though they actually just missed being in my Top Artists by 10 listens. Robynâs album this year was also pretty stellar, but it was released pretty late in the year.
Movies
As always, subjective ranking and not numbers-based.
Wonât You Be My Neighbor? Okay, biased, what with my childrenâs media thing and PBS thing. Tbh I donât even like documentaries that much, but this one. I wept. And we really needed this film right now.
Blindspotting I saw this at the Independent Film Festival Boston, with a Q&A with Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal afterwards, and just wow. This is an incredible tour de force. Brilliantly crafted and visceral and hilarious, too. I know a bunch of people were drawn to it because of Daveed Diggs and his Hamilton fame, but genuinely, he and Rafael Casalâs passion for this film and overwhelming talent shine through in this.
Searching Look, I love love loved Crazy Rich Asians and Asian August and Asian-American women bringing back the rom com. As an Asian-American woman, I have been waiting for so long for this to happen. But I picked Searching because as a film, Searching takes the screen footage tactic, heretofore only really used in horror films, and capitalizes on it to such amazing dramatic and emotional effect. John Cho is fantastic, of course in this very tense and very stressful film.
Black Panther I cannot believe it hasnât even been a year since Black Panther. Can we start using the term BBP and ABP for Before and After Black Panther? I saw somewhere that Letitia Wright is the biggest box office star of the year, which is fabulous because she is fabulous (and a Disney princess!). The world-building is amazing, the action is amazing, the eye candy is amazing (Helloooooo Michael B. Jordan and Chadwick Boseman and Danai Gurira and Lupita Nyongâo and...you get the point).
Ralph Breaks the Internet I spent a lot of this film marveling at how only Disney could have pulled this off, this massive ambitious bringing together of so many brands and characters and, yâknow, the internet. I also enjoy that this is not a romantic love story, and it is a story about love in other ways. Loving your friends and caring for them and respecting them is so important, and dealing with insecurity is as well. This is such a smart movie, and as somebody who cares about childrenâs media, that is the standard to which we should aspire.
Honorable Mentions:Â A Quiet Place (Though of the horror films this year, Hereditary and Annihilation were also very good), Madelineâs Madeline for Helena Howardâs performance, I Tonya because um duh figure skating but does not make the list because trying to pass off Margot Robbie as teenage was laughable, Three Identical Strangers
Movies I Want to See But Havenât Yet: Eighth Grade, Sorry to Bother You, Support the Girls, Widows, Creed II, The Hate U Give, Halloween, Burning, RBG, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Dumplinâ (My roomieâs in it!)
Movies I Should See But Havenât Brought Myself To Care About: A Star is Born, Mission Impossible: Fallout, Mary Poppins Returns, Green Book, Love Simon, Paddington 2
2020.12.02 EDIT:Â I was wrong about Paddington 2. It is an incredible film.
Television
Sharp Objects Iâve read the book (and own it somewhere...) but it had been a while, so Sharp Objects did what a good mystery does - even upon a revisit, the things you donât remember are tantalizing and the discovery of new clues and revelations keep shifting your perspective and giving it a jolt each time. Amy Adams is phenomenal in this (as she always is) and Eliza Scanlen as Amma gives a piercing performance in this.
Queer Eye All of the remakes happening incessantly is tiring and also eyeroll-inducing (itâs cliche but honestly, where are the original ideas nowadays?), but then we get something like Queer Eye. Reality TV gets a hard rap, but with Queer Eye, you get the entertainment factor and also incredibly moving emotional heft as well. Also, I genuinely wonder at how Bobby gets all that house remodeling done and he doesnât get enough credit for it!
The Haunting of Hill House I love the Shirley Jackson story and also the original movie (I have not watched the 90âČs movie and I donât think I ever will), so my only real gripe with this show is that I wish they didnât call it The Haunting of Hill House because it really isnât. But what it is, is a brilliant family drama launching off of the Hill House story. It is captivating and beautiful and spooky, and also the casting of the young kids is impeccable.
Nailed It! Sometimes you just need to guffaw over peopleâs ridiculous failures. This show doesnât take itself too seriously and because it embraces the silly, itâs full of heart and joy.
Ălite I love foreign teen dramas. I love murder...in my television/movies. Of course I was gonna love this show. But just because it has these two elements doesnât mean that I automatically was going to think itâs a great show (It does probably mean I would automatically enjoy it, but thatâs different). Both of these genres are rife with tropes, but this show takes them and executes them in such a way that it rings true and doesnât distract from your enjoyment.
Honorable Mention: Memories of the Alhambra only because itâs still ongoing! Itâs a brilliant way of looking at technology and combining it with all the elements of a K-drama that you could want. Itâs kinda like if a good episode of Black Mirror (because goodness knows that quality varies) combined with a K-drama.
Also of mention are some excellent series that continued this year. I canât believe I didnât watch them when they first came out, but The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Big Mouth are both so so good. Though I have strong feelings about the second season of Maisel and think the Paris bit was just an awkward flex and should have been cut, and the Catskills could have been an entire series of its own. Also, I actually saw Nick Kroll do some readings of all the characters in Big Mouth at the Vulture Festival this year!
In addition to the show-watches-from-the-beginning that I am still working through (Parks and Rec, The Wire, Gilmore Girls, Mad Men, etc.) Iâve also started watching Ugly Betty and Strong Woman Do Bong Soon from the beginning.
There are a few new shows from this year that I really have been wanting to watch but havenât yet:Â Killing Eve, Kidding, Homecoming. Mostly Killing Eve for Queen Sandra Oh and also the girl from MMFD!
Okay, whew! Thatâs enough of that. Where do I even find the time to watch all this stuff??

Connecther x Love Our Girls
Back in fall of 2017, Connecther had the honor of being the feature story for the August issue of Love Our Girls.Â

We love this quote from Love Our Girls founder Danai Gurira. An exceptional actor and writer, Danaiâs play âEclipsedâ starring Lupita Nyongâo went on to Broadway, and you most likely caught her on the big screen as Okoye in âBlack Panther.âÂ
âAs an actress, I have the good fortune of being able to play a complex, strong and flawed woman. As a writer, scripting narratives is my act of resistance, my way of bringing that unheard African female voice front and center and allowing it to manifest its astounding value. I have always had a passion for women and girls, a hope to see them function on the same playing field as men and have the same opportunities and appropriate protections. I want to be more than an actress and storyteller but an advocate for women, not only in underdeveloped countries but all over the world.â - Danai Gurira
