#Damian takes responsibility as the elder cousin seriously

Since you usually have some pretty interesting trope twists, here’s something that I haven’t seen a lot of: How would you do a HP/BatFam crossover?
Ra’s didn’t like to admit when he forgot something. No one really liked to do so, but more so himself. He was the Demon Head, the ruler of the League of Assassins. He did not forget things.
But when he had noticed a majestic stag in the woods during a mission he was reminded he had not heard anything from his son, he realized he hadn’t been in contact with the boy for nine years. That was… odd.
Ra’s had been seduced (or she tried. He’d been amused enough to go along with it) by a witch who he later learned was desperate for a child as her husband (some imbecile named Fleamount or the such) was making noise of replacing her with a woman twenty years her junior. His son was passed off at the other man’s given they both were of Middle Eastern heritage. Ra’s didn’t mind. Magical children, at least from the Wizarding World, were unpredictable and foolish. He had no interest in having a Wizard for an heir.
However, it was still HIS son. He’d made contact secretly with James Fleamount Potter when the boy was fifteen, armed with evidence. James did not take it quite well at first, which was understandable. Later the boy began reaching out carefully to Ra’s and Talia. He was not aware of the true nature of the League, nor would he ever be.
There had been some ridiculous war brewing in the Wizarding world Ra’s son worried about. It was amusing that James tried to hide what was going on from them so Ra’s allowed it. He became distracted though with Bruce Wayne and his nonsense, and for the past few years he had heard nothing.
He better check in.

Ra’s stood beside Talia watching as Number Four Pivet Drive burned. In his daughter’s arms his grandson Hari Ra’s Potter was fast asleep. His face covered in bruises, the clothes much to baggy.
Ra’s detested cruelty for cruelty. Training was one matter but casual abuse disgusted him. He was aware his actions towards his other grandson could be seen as abusive. In fact he even acknowledged it probably was. But it had been training. This? This was nothing like that.
“We won’t be taking him,” Talia said, more of a statement than anything. She had loved her younger brother James. He was wildly intelligent and creative with a well hidden cruel streak. Lily had been similar. However she knew how Wizard Magic was to unruly for the League.
“No,” Ra’s agreed. “I believe that Damian may enjoy his cousin living with him.” He did enjoy the brood Bruce collected of misfits after all.
Talia nodded and the two walked away from the burning house, heading towards their private airplane. It would be best to deal with this soon.

Bruce Wayne barely looked up at the screen of the Batcomputer when it announced Talia had been detected. She would be visiting Damian.
“Huh,” Tim said from beside his father. “Didn’t she visit last month?” Bruce blinked and looked up at the screen. He had been in space until a week ago, so he’d missed Talia appearing. Why was she coming now?
“Indeed Timothy,” Damian said, the boy having heard the alert from where he’d been doing inventory of their weapons. A punishment duty for him trying to break a classmate’s leg for his uncouth attitude towards Timothy’s sexuality.
Damian had met his Uncle James as a child whom introduced him to Uncle Sirius, Remus and Peter. This interaction, and the knowledge that you could choose family, had primed him towards accepting his brothers. Ra’s had obviously valued merit over age or blood with how James was kept out of the League, so Damian viewed everyone the same. No one was aware of a world where he didn’t accept the others, and instead would fight them. Where he would almost ruin a relationship with Timothy and nearly doom the fragile bonds his second youngest elder brother had with the family.
No, here he had been cautious but open, and a strong bond formed between them all. It had led to the easy finding of Father when he was lost in the time stream, though Timothy got dragged into Grandfather’s notice sadly.
Damian watched as the alert began to approach the Manor. Father sighed and stood up from his chair. Damian quietly began following the man as Timothy typed away at the computer, trying to get camera footage. Not an easy task when Mother did not want to be seen.
Heading up to the Manor proper, Father went to alert Pennyworth as Damian made his way to the lobby. It did not take to much longer for Mother to knock. Pennyworth entered to answer with Father lurking behind him.
Mother stood there with a child in her arms.
“Talia…” Bruce choked.
“He is not ours beloved. He is my nephew from my Father’s youngest James,” Mother said.
“Uncle James married?” Damian couldn’t help but ask. “To Lily I assume?” It couldn’t be anyone else. At age six Damian had heard to much of beautiful Lily he’d actually worked with Uncle Sirius to prank the man into shutting up.
“Indeed. Your Grandfather realized he had not heard from his son in some time, and set out to find why. James is…” Mother hesitated but Damian knew.
“Dead.” Damian said, almost flatly. His chest tightened as he blinked his eyes. Father moved to stand by him, a hand on his shoulder. Damian accepted it quietly. “And my cousin?”
“He was left with Lily’s sister who…” Mother only needed to show the state of the child for them to understand. Fading bruises, to baggy clothes. A splint on his wrist. Father’s face tightened. Damian’s fists clenched and he wanted to hit something.
Preferably the monsters who’d hurt his younger cousin.
“I cannot take care of him.” Talia informed Bruce. He did not hesitate.
“We will take him,” Bruce said. He moved to take the to light boy into his arms. The child stayed asleep. “What is his name?”
“Hari Ra’s Potter. I assume you know of the Wizarding World?” Talia asked.
“I do, Dick is a Squib,” Bruce said as he held Hari.
“There was a war there. Apparently my brother and his wife perished, with Hari being the only survivor. Through a study we discovered that a small soul shard of the killer latched itself onto him. We got rid of it,” Talia said. “Hence his healing sleep.” She smiled with all her teeth. “We will find the others.”
Bruce nodded and moved to stand by his son as Talia left. They would have to tell the rest of the family.
