More Hedd Wyn Lore time yay
Tumblr media
Background
Hedd Wyn belongs to an ethnic group that resides in the mountains called Albion they used to be more prolific but due to persecution only one group remains, the Llewelyn clan, who are said to be dissidents of a great folk hero who guided the remaining people to the safety of the mountains. The land they call home is an old fort they converted into a village they call it Meirionnydd, but in the surrounding countries call it stormvail. The people mostly raise mountain live stock and hunt to survive. Albions are known for their black smithing, their swords never snap or even chip, they are also known for their tapestry’s, however they are mostly known for their work as mercenaries. The men are organised under the clan head and travel for work in war. The woman remain in the village doing most of the home keeping. People in Albion follow a different denomination of the church than most following a more Unitarian world view.
Family
Hedd Wyn’s father was a man named Dic Siôn Dafydd a man hated by Albion for turning his back on the people and culture for his own material wealth, Hedd Wyn’s mother is a woman named Rowena a madwoman, Dafydd’s proposal to Rowena was rejected by her family but he convinced her to run away with him to live in luxury, Rowena’s uncle sent a party to find them but they only found Rowena after a year living in a brothel with the infant Hedd Wyn after Dafydd ditched her when he found out she was pregnant. Upon returning to Albion Rowena was remarried to a man named Macsen Wledig, who already had one daughter named Elen. Rowena had gone mad with grief by this point blaming Hedd Wyn for Dafydd leaving her due to Hedd Wyn being born both male and female, Rowena believed her to be a demon and abused and neglected her never even giving her a name, Macsen hardly stopped this he and many other looked down on Hedd Wyn due to who her father was. Rowena eventually calmed down when she had a child with Macsen another daughter named Rhiannon.
Rowena’s uncle was the clan’s leader Gwrtheyrn, related through his sister Mirika. All of Gwrtheyrn’s sons died in battle and of Mirika’s children only Rowena survived until adulthood. Mirika was an important religious leader in the Albion Church and had as much power as her brother even in her old age.
Childhood
Upon Hedd Wyn’s birth Mirika had a vision of Albion being saved by a white dragon with bright eyes that pierced dark clouds, she was confused by this dream, the dragon could not have been her brother because his symbol was a silver boar, her questions went unanswered until the birth of Rhiannon where she met the unnamed child for the first time (when Hedd Wyn was 5), before this Hedd Wyn was raised like a servant and treated like an animal sleeping with the animals in the barn being fed leftovers and being ignored, however she never complained or showed any anger to her mother or even her step sister who mocked her for her body, Hedd Wyn’s eyes always stayed bright.
Upon seeing Hedd Wyn’s white hair and bright eyes Mirika knew she was the white dragon, she adopted Hedd Wyn as her own giving her her name, a symbol of her prophecy. Many were sceptical that the child of a traitor could bring any good but believed in Mirika’s judgment. Now living with Mirika Hedd Wyn caught the eye of her gate uncle Gwrtheyrn, who began teaching her sword play and letting her sit in on his councils, he began treating her as is she were is own personally teaching her swordsmanship. She received a vast education, politics, economics, literature recourse management, music, weaving hunting, anything Mirika thought would be useful. When Hedd wyn was 11 she contracted Tuberculosis. She decided not to tell anyone so Mirika wouldn’t worry she learned how to treat it by herself. Around here she found a young boy being raised by bandits Mirika decides to take him in as Hedd Wyn’s shadow naming him Blaidd.
Before the story
When Hedd Wyn was 15 Mirika passed away, Hedd Wyn was the one who to perform the funeral rights. After Gwrtheyrn adopted her and gave her his family name Llewelyn, At this point the people fully accepted Hedd Wyn, however Macsen and his supporters didn’t accept her, (Macsen was the only other person who could inherit from Gwrtheyrn) so to prove herself to them, she left Albion to kill Dafydd, taking Blaidd with her.
Prologue
Hedd Wyn and Tori were passing through on the day of the festival while exploring she saw a drunk man assaulting a woman and child she made her way through the crowd when Leon got involved then Chevalier got involved but before anyone could do anything Hedd Wyn punched the guy across the town square for putting a woman and child in Danger, this is what caught a certain minister’s attention.
Bonus!!!!
Hedd Wyn’s opinion on all the boys
Tumblr media
Chevalier: ever since she saw him kill those assassins she’s been spellbound, Mirika told her she should pick a man that can dice up another man well, she sees him as the moon, a bright light in the dark, she points out that he is very human due to having ambition. She thinks he’s cute when he’s sleeping in the morning admires his conviction, she gave him an endearing nickname ‘Lia’.
Leon: Hedd Wyn’s casual with everyone even more so when it comes to Leon, in some ways he reminds her of her own brother Bran, as they are similar in temperament.
Luke: most of the relationship is one sided due to her reminding him of his sister, they both faced neglect from their mothers, Hedd Wyn was never close with her sisters, but she likes his chill vibes.
Yves: to Hedd Wyn he’s a girl and so she treats him like a girl, even calling him princess, to Hedd Wyn it’s the role you take that determines if your male or female, this came from the fact she was raised like a boy. Also since she treats him like she would a girl, she is unusually respectful towards him.
Licht: she likes that he doesn’t talk too much but she also thinks he doesn’t talk enough, she always wants to know what he’s thinking, in her culture twins are a good sign because they symbolise a woman’s fertility .
Rio: she tried to keep her distance and have the boss deal with him but he kept pushing she always denies his advances but she tolerates him.
Nokto: she finds his flirtation annoying, it’s not that she has an issue with sleeping around but rather that he is always alone despite it, also for her it’s normal for women to have multiple partners but men usually only have one, so she thinks he’s disloyal.
Jin: she hates his flirting, especially when he comments on her small height or flat chest or her more masculine features, she will hit him if he goes too far, she thinks he’s too old to be acting like a child.
Kieth: there’s the obvious caution when dealing with him not only because of the secret but also due to the fact she can sense his alter, she’s always somewhat on edge when he’s around always gauging him for small changes in personality.
Gilbert: he sets off all her warnings, every instinct in her body tells her to run (she can sense the yandere) when forced to be near him her sword is always close and she checks all her exits
Sariel: she hates lessons and his way of her doing her job, she’d rather watch from the shadows than parade around as someone she isn’t and attract unwanted attention.
Clavis: she called him ugly to his face
Silvio: he causes nothing but trouble so she avoids him like the plague, she thinks he has too much jewellery on, an obnoxious amount of jewellery.
Trivia
Blood type O
She is 16-18 years old
The stars in her eyes are a symbolic representation of her drive, not the actual shape of her eyes.
Her birthday is on January 1st.
Hedd Wyn still suffers from Tuberculosis, she occasionally has coughing fits and once a year she gets bedridden, Blaidd is the only other person who knows.
She still lives in a barn with her families animals, she actually enjoys being there.
Her golden earring was something she bought on campaign, Blaidd has the other one
She doesn’t like being touched much she’ll only let certain people touch her
Her clothes are practical and mostly handmade, she tans her own leather weaves or buys the best fabric and has multiple coverings for different weather.
She is trained in smithing and makes her own weapons
Her sword was a gift from Gwrtheyrn, it’s an heirloom
The ribbons on her are cultural, young girls give them to warriors going to war as a good luck charm, Hedd Wyn is very.
She doesn’t like to waste food and will eat anything given to her, even Clavis’s ‘cooking’
When she was 4 she got ran over with a horse, she was fine
She enjoys hunting
Her handwriting is like a child’s, you can tell a lot of effort was put into making it legible, so it’s bigger than needed and all capitalised, it takes her twice as long to write anything
When she’s drunk her cute side comes out, she falls in and out of consciousness and blurts out all her secrets.
She invited her own sword style, it has a special move called the water fell dance, it can cut an enemy to peace’s before they even notice
She doesn’t have any food she won’t eat but she isn’t a fan of sweet things
She loves spicy food
She prepares her own food from hunting it to preserving the leftovers
She doesn’t sleep in her bed, she’ll sleep on the sofa, floor even on the roof, back home she slept on a pile of hay

Ten months after the arrest of Neil Foden, parents and governors still have little confidence in cyngor Gwynedd council to stop any future abuse.
At last weeks Education and Economy Committee, the representative for Arfon's parents and governors expressed her concerns and asked for an 'interactive infographic' to be made to ensure that everyone knew how to report abuse. But the safeguarding procedures are well known - it is written on the back of many staff key cards. The policies have not failed rather the officers whose job it is to ensure childrens safety have failed...
It is a concern that the governor's rep has little confidence that things have improved. She may be aware of the new governing body that has been appointed at Ysgol Friars and one wonders if she has confidence in them also.
The new chair of the governors is councillor Dafydd Meurig. Other members appointed by the council are Elin Walker Jones, Gareth Mark Parry, John Wyn Williams and R Medwyn Hughes - https://www.ysgolfriars.cymru/en/the-governing-body
Councillor Medwyn Hughes sat on the previous board and his re-appointment does not inspire confidence. Nor does the appointment of Elin Walker Jones, the present cabinet member for children, who has remained silent on the SS department's revelation earlier this year of historic complaints from 2013/14 concerning the Arfon social workers team.
Dafydd Meurig, was the deputy leader of the council and also cabinet member for the Adult SS department when they were being hauled over the coals by the Ombudsman for Wales for maladministration and bad behaviour towards the disabled under the last administration. One case featured in the PSOW's human rights casebook - it was that bad.
This case should have come before full council and a review undertaken of the social worker(s), their manager and the care home involved. Meurig did not present it to full council...
Tumblr media
The public outrage prompted the Plaid MS for Arfon, Siân Gwenllian, to ask questions of the council. https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/gwynedd-council-review-vehicle-policy-19777848
Over a year later, there had been no update from Gwynedd council nor the MS... Local elections were held and Plaid Cymru increased their majority. After the election, the leader of the council shuffled his Cabinet and Dafydd Meurig was replaced by Dilwyn Morgan, who was the former Cabinet member for children and families.
Morgan's tenure was also overshadowed by controversy. The PSOW finding maladministration and bad behaviour by his department also. A reminder that Dilwyn Morgan refused to answer questions of the Care Scrutiny Committee after one 'damning' PSOW investigation. It is also claimed that Morgan failed to take action against the senior safeguarding officer after allegations he misled councillors and the public.
In the reshuffle, Dafydd Meurig became Cabinet member for the Enviroment.
In September, 2023, the MS for Arfon was sent an email asking for an update on the vehicle misuse and mentions Gwynedd social workers using the cars for 'extra curricular activity'.
Her office replied that Ms Gwenllian only asked about the Waste and Recycling department and passed on a message that she had received from Dafydd Meurig - A letter and email was sent to officers who had the right to take vehicles home as part of their working terms, on 29/03/2023. The letter stated that the consultation period has ended and that no officer from the Waste and Recycling service is now exempt from the new policy - 'Use of Council vehicles for commuting'. In accordance with the procedure, a period of notice must be given to staff and the period of 90 days has started on 31/03/2023 and ends on 29/06/2023. So by the end of June the exercise of using the council's vehicle for journeys between home and work will come to an end.
At the time of the protest, there was a perception that some officers of all departments considered the vehicles their personal property to do with as they pleased - including using them for trysts away from the office. So it is surprising that the focus was on one department only.
Perhaps Aled Gibbard, the former senior operational manager and now head of resources, should have dealt with the matter. He would have far more knowledge of the affair than any councillor. For how long has it been considered normal practice that officers use these vehicles (and the fuel) to commute between home and work? All staff or just senior officers?
Dafydd Meurig did not bring this case to full council, either...
To outsiders, the perception is that many senior managers within the council and schools are incompetent and that a toxic culture of cover up has allowed many to get away with actions and behaviours that would not be tolerated in the private sector. The attitude of many senior councillors only adds to this perception...
In other news, it is reported that cyngor Gwynedd have suspended two staff members at a school. A spokesperson said - We can confirm that two members of school staff in Gwynedd have been suspended from their posts and that the council is conducting internal investigations. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crgm8my77kno The school has not been named but it is reported that the council are conducting an internal investigation. There is no trust in those undertaking Gwynedd council's internal investigations and in light of Neil Foden it may be more appropriate for councillors to insist that officers of another LA to be tasked with investigating the matter.
Something is so very wrong within Gwynedd council...

Wales coatch Warren Gatland four uncapped players in Six Nations championship
New Post has been published on https://thedailyrugby.com/wales-coatch-warren-gatland-four-uncapped-players-in-six-nations-championship/
The Daily Rugby

Wales coatch Warren Gatland four uncapped players in Six Nations championship
Wales head coach Warren Gatland has named four uncapped players in his squad for the Guinness Six Nations championship.
Ospreys centre Keiran Williams, Cardiff centre Mason Grady, Ospreys lock Rhys Davies and Cardiff second row forward Teddy Williams have all been selected. The quartet are the only international rookies among a 37-man group, with Gatland’s second spell as Wales boss beginning against Ireland on February 4.
Scarlets hooker Ken Owens has been appointed captain, being preferred to other candidates such as Justin Tipuric, Dan Biggar and Alyn Wyn Jones. Elsewhere, there are recalls for 34-year-old Ospreys scrum-half Rhys Webb – who last played Test rugby in 2020 – Ospreys fly-half Owen Williams, Scarlets back Rhys Patchell, Cardiff prop Rhys Carre and Dragons back-row forward Aaron Wainwright.
Selection absentees include Ross Moriarty, Nicky Smith and Ryan Elias, while injuries have sidelined the likes of fly-half Gareth Anscombe and lock Will Rowlands. But Gloucester wing Louis Rees-Zammit, who is currently out of action due to an ankle problem, has been picked.
Gatland said: “It’s probably a bigger squad than I would normally name, but we want to have a good Six Nations and also look forward to the World Cup.
We have some youngsters that have come in and then we’ve some older, very experienced players that we need to manage.
Tipuric serves timely reminder of all-round skill
Few people who have been watching international rugby for the past decade will have missed just how rounded a player Justin Tipuric can be, but for that small minority, Saturday evening’s clash in Swansea showed what he can do.
Against French champions Montpellier, Ospreys found themselves trailing, but a brilliant kick to the wing from Tipuric for Keelan Giles eventually ended with the flanker sprinting onto Giles’ kick back inside.
It is looking at the whole element for the squad and how we get the balance right because that is definitely going to be a challenge over the next 10 months.
On the captaincy, Gatland added: Ken is rather experienced and a passionate Welshman – it approach lots to him to play for Wales. He is likewise very famous with the players.
He came back from harm and changed into truely awesome all through the autumn marketing campaign. Probably, if you are selecting a team in the intervening time, he’s the primary in that role.
It was also showed that ex-Wales back-rower Jonathan Thomas has been recruited by using Gatland to train the contact location. A WRU tweet read: “Official – Jonathan Thomas joins the Welsh setup, being responsible for the contact location. He gained sixty seven Welsh caps and has coached at Bristol, Worcester and Ealing. Croeso, Jonathan!
Wales’ Guinness Six Nations squad
Forwards (20): Rhys Carre (Cardiff Rugby 17 caps) Wyn Jones (Scarlets – 45 caps) Gareth Thomas (Ospreys – 17 caps) Dewi Lake (Ospreys – 8 caps) Ken Owens (Scarlets – 86 caps), Captain Bradley Roberts (Dragons – 3 caps) Leon Brown (Dragons – 22 caps) Tomas Francis (Ospreys – 67 caps) Dillon Lewis (Cardiff Rugby – 45 caps) Adam Beard (Ospreys – 41 caps) Rhys Davies (Ospreys – uncapped) Dafydd Jenkins (Exeter Chiefs – 1 cap) Alun Wyn Jones (Ospreys – 155 caps) Teddy Williams (Cardiff Rugby – uncapped) Taulupe Faletau (Cardiff Rugby – 95 caps) Jac Morgan (Ospreys – 6 caps) Tommy Reffell (Leicester Tigers – 4 caps) Justin Tipuric (Ospreys – 89 caps) Christ Tshiunza (Exeter Chiefs – 3 caps) Aaron Wainwright (Dragons – 36 caps)

One of my favourite things about Welsh is that even those of us not first lanagauge, or living in predominately English areas, use a lot of Welsh in our every day vocab (&even in English areas everyone will understand)
However, it does mean I make a fool of myself and use these Welsh words as soon as I leave Wales, where suddenly no one understands them
So, here's a short list of words that you can either easily slot in to your every day if you're learning, or help you understand Welsh people you may meet (who may be twp, like me!)
(also, this is just MY small area, so I'm sure others can include loads of others phases and words!)
Nain, Taid, Tad ect
Names for Nana, granpa, and Dad! I don't think many use 'tad', however, you can get weird looks and questions for using nain a taid
Bechod
Literally means 'sin', however it is used like 'shame!' or 'oh no!', or it can also be used in for 'cute' or 'heart-touching'. I did have a nursery teacher in nursery who used it as a pet name. So you might use this if a kid had just fallen over, or if you've been watching Undercover Boss and it's the reveal and it's getting you in the feels
Panad
A drink! Think 'a brew' or a 'cuppa'. (Most Welsh people i know, even non-welsh-speaking will over a panad in Welsh, 'ti'n isho panad?' so watch out for that)
Cwtch/cwtsh
Mostly South Walian, however it is becoming more popular up here in the north! Originally a 'cwtch' was the space under the stairs where people in Cardiff hid during the bombings in WW2, however it has since come to mean, most commonly, a big hug or squeeze (and this is important! At least to me, sometimes I've seen cwtch used just for a hug, but to me it means more than that. It's the hug you give to someone that is what is keeping them together as they fall apart, you know? The hug you give to a friend you'd fallen out with for ages but are now back together, or to someone whose just lost a close family member/friend, that kind of thing).
However, my family in Cardiff are divided because some of them say Cwtch can also be used as a pet name (I've personally never heard it used as a pet name, but it's not as popular a word in the north anyway, like I said, so that might be why, if anyone knows more about this let me know!)
Also a weird word because although it is said to be Welsh, the spelling 'cwtch' uses English pronunciation. The Welsh spelling 'cwtsh' does seem to be gaining momentum now though.
Saws coch wyn
So this is used predominately in Coffi welsh that I've heard, however again, it's becoming more widely used! Literally translated it means 'white red sauce', but if you hear this what they're after is Mayo. A lot of my first lanagauge friends will, even in English, ask for 'white red sauce', so if you hear that, it means mayo (or salad cream, they don't seem that bothered)
Shwmae
Means hello! Again, more south I believe, a lot of South Walian Welsh speakers seem to use exclusively 'shwmae' as a greeting.
Bach
If someone use this after your name feel special! Bach literally translates to small, and is kind of added to your name (ie Kate bach, Beth bach, Dafydd bach) to show special affection.
Blods
Blods is short for 'blodyn tatws', literally, 'potato flower'! It's a term of endearment, which by most friends my age is shortened to blods, however some friends shorten it to 'tatws' (potato) which feels less endearing lol
Cariad
In my experience mostly older people will use this, but it literally means 'love', and holds the connotations of 'beloved', 'sweetheart', 'darling'
Cau'r dy geg
Literally 'shut your mouth', a bit rude, only use with people you're good mates with who wouldn't take it personally, or can't understand Welsh!
Dw i ddim yn gwybod
'I don't know'! I use this all the time, I can't remember the last time I actually told someone I didn't know in English, it's one of those words/phrases which to me is just natural in Welsh (if that makes sense!)
Mae e'n cadw draenog yn ei boced
Literally 'he keeps a hedgehog in his pocket', meaning they'ry stingy!
Mae hi'n bwrw hen wragedd a ffyn!
Literally 'it's raining old women and sticks!', Welsh version of its raining cats and dogs (although I believe there is another Welsh version 'mae hi'n bwrw cyfyll a ffyrc', literally translates to 'its raining knives and forks', but I've never heard the expression in natural conversation')
Man a man a mwnci
Means 'might as well!' I'm not entirely sure what the direct translation is, however I've kind of understood it as 'a space and a place and a monkey', or 'a spot and a monkey'. (If anyone knows let me know plis!)
Be/Beth
Literally 'what'.
Diolch/ Diolch o galon/diolch yn fawr
Can't believe I almost for got this! I use diolch, meaning 'thanks', a lot, but if I'm so overwhelmingly grateful that I don't know how to express is, I turn to 'diolch o galon', literally 'thank you from my heart'. Again its on of those things that saying thank you in English just doesn't sound like I'm thankful, or feel like I've actually expressed it
Twp/twpsyn/twpsen
Literally stupid or thickheaded. I call myself this a lot, but I also think it's such a light hearted way to make fun of someone, it's like bubbles, no one can be angry saying 'twp!' (or even better it's mutation 'dwp')
Hyfryd
Literally 'lovely', think the application is obvious lol
Nos da
(ended the post with this and then realised I hadn't included it lol) means 'good night', again obvious application, but I do have a funny story
A neighbour of mine is from Yorkshire, and she said when she was growing up there was a v popular Welsh comedian who ended all of his shows with 'nos da' and she understood it as 'no star', and until she was 16 just seriously believed there was some random natural anomaly that meant there were no stars visible in Wales
Might add more if I think of any, but otherwise, add any if anyone thinks of others!
Nos da!

WILDC.A.T.S TRILOGY #1-3 JUNE - DECEMBER 1993 BY BRANDON CHOI, DAFYDD WYN, JAE LEE, JOE CHIODO, WENDY BROOME, BEN FERNANDEZ, PAIGE APFELBAUM AND CHAMELEON PRIME
Tumblr media
The Coda and the Daemonites unite to get revenge at WildC.A.T.s and Zealot.
Tumblr media
SCORE: 4
Let’s start with the art. Jae Lee was already a phenomenon at the time, but even in our current days, his style isn’t for everyone. Well, I have to say, I can see Jae Lee improved over time, because this was hard to read. The art is so moody, that it breaks your concentration from the story (which in this case, should have been a good thing). To make things worse, many of the poor quality characteristics of this period of Image Comics are there. The most evident being poor anatomy knowledge.
But it does look cool, doesn’t it?
Tumblr media
Probably the one impeccable thing about the whole thing is the coloring.
The worst thing about the story is the writing. It amazes me that, for a book that relies so much on “tell don’t show” and heavy expositions in the middle of fights, I managed to end it without knowing why the book was called “Trinity”. I can only imagine it was because of the three members of Coda (but they were only three because those are the ones we know, there are more Amazons, I mean Coda). Or it could be just because it’s three issues long (which I assume is the real reason).
Tumblr media
Also, if I were doing some kind of alternate version of a known property, even if it is based on something that the other version was inspired from, I would definitely change to a certain extent where you can tell it’s original. Like, you shouldn’t have a place named “Themiscrya”, you know? It sounds too much like Themiscyra. And you are telling a story about the amazons, pretty much. Change things a little more so that it doesn’t feel like a rip off.
To make things even weirder, Zealot’s decision of killing everybody except one person, is hard to justify. We understand they were probably lovers (I guess), but I don’t feel like we had enough character development to explain that.
Tumblr media
And the dialogues are horrible. Not only because they are just plainly explaining who they are and their motivations to people that already know them, but it is also really cliched.
It also feels like WildC.A.T.s wasn’t that necessary in this story and it could have been just a Zealot mini-series.
Also Jae Lee... not a fan of backgrounds.

— ♔ In the past, people were born royal and for ALYS TUDOR the TWENTY-SIX-year-old CROWN PRINCESS of WALES, that is a tradition SHE intends to keep. To others, SHE looks an awful lot like MADELAINE PETSCH and has been painted as THE MEEK SPARE but behind closed doors, SHE is TIMID & BLUNT but also DIGNIFIED & STOIC. It has also been said they are BETROTHED to MATTHEW GOODE, WILLIAM MOSELEY, ALEXANDER LUDWIG, AARON TAYLOR-JOHNSON, OR UTP.
BASIC INFORMATION
NAME: Alys Cedwyn Tudor
NICKNAMES: Aly-Cat [her brother]; Wyn [her father]; Aly [her parents & closest friends]; Al [her betrothed; a nickname in which she despises]
DATE OF BIRTH: April 16, 2094
AGE: 26
HOME TOWN: Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Russia
OCCUPATION: Crown Princess of Wales
LANGUAGES: Welsh, English, Italian
PARENTS: King Ewen Ceri Tudor (father); Queen Anna Caitrin Tudor [ née Jones ] (mother)
BROTHERS AND SISTERS: Prince Alwyn Dafydd Tudor (deceased).
HUSBAND OR WIFE: Prince xxxx xxxxx (betrothed; fiancé)
SIGNIFICANT OTHERS: Her Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Dylan;  Emiln Evans (best friend)
RELATIONSHIP SKILLS: While Alys is rather reserved and tends to remain quiet, she listens intently. She is kind and surprisingly openminded to more than she lets on. While she has become good at feigning interest, particularly at royal functions, if she is annoyed, upset, or bored, she will politely let you know and move on. She’s loyal to those she cares about most in this world and would sooner keep a secret for someone than to destroy their good name, unless it’s going to be at the expense of her family or someone she deeply cares about. The only person she has come to despise most in this world is the man she is supposed to marry, despite trying her hardest to genuinely love him. And while hate isn’t a word she takes lightly, she has determined that if she ever meets the perpetrator who murdered her brother, she’s likely to return the favor; but little does she know, it’s the man she’s trying to love.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
(TW: Dyslexia mention)
HEIGHT: 5′6″
HAIR COLOUR: Red.
EYE COLOUR: Brown
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Alys’ most distinguishing features are her red hair and fair skin tone.
DRESS STYLE: Alys prefers to dress casually in jeans, sweaters, and the occasional t-shirt, unless in the eyes of the public. Then you can find her wearing dresses and things tailored for her body type. While she’s never been one for keeping up with fashion trends, her stylist does know just how to dress her to keep her current with the times.
PHYSICAL HABITS: Alys does not partake in vices such as drinking, smoking, or drugs.
MANNERISMS: Alys is a very poised and polite person. Her etiquette training came from her grandmother, who believed women should be seen as ladies. She has a particular way of doing things, which sometimes confuses people or gets an unwarranted laugh because of how old fashioned Alys can come off as, but she does know when to relax, and that’s usually in the company of her closest friends. However, when she’s nervous or anxious, she rubs her hands together without really realizing. It’s also very clear when she’s annoyed or angry, but instead of yelling, she remains eerily calm, sometimes expressing her anger through the tension in her voice or simply walking off.
HEALTH: Alys is in peak physical health. She exercises regularly, including riding horses. She goes for morning runs and enjoys swimming laps, when no one else is in the pool. She’ll occasionally visit the gym, but tries to get outside as much as she can. She eats fruit and veg with very little red meat, preferring poultry and seafood. She does treat herself to sweets every now and then, especially traditional Welsh cakes. Alys does have dyslexia. Only a very select few people know this about her. And she has worked very hard to overcome it, though she still struggles on occasion.
BACKGROUND
(TW: Murder, Death)
For Alys, growing up second to her brother was as much of a challenge as a rat trying to free itself from an inhumane glue trap…impossible. His bright personality and commanding presence had always lit up the room as if King Ewen, himself, had already entered the building. And it didn’t take the younger of the two to realize her place in the world; silent and in the background. Though extremely bright and well rounded in her studies, the young woman remained quiet watching as her brother grew more fit and apt to take the crown someday. Of course, no one saw what was coming. In everyone’s minds, the belief that Alwyn would one day rule Wales, and quite successfully, had come as default. But of course, there had to be a set path for Alys. Like any great spare, she was set to marry.
Arranged to a man she quietly despised, Alys didn’t counteract her mother and father’s wishes. Though loving him didn’t come easy. While she could tell he longed to be in the spotlight, much like her brother, she thought nothing of it. Instead, she went about her daily life, sometimes bluntly wrangling him back into his place by reminding him of whom he would be marrying. Life carried on until a trip to Rome. King Ewen, trusting in his son to negotiate policies with the leaders in Italy, sent the young Crown Prince, and his wife. And with some convincing, Alwyn managed to bring along his sister and future brother-in-law.
The trip was a success. The Crown Prince had brought together two nations just as his father had hoped; a sign that he would be a great ruler someday. And to celebrate, Alwyn, along with Alys’ betrothed; a young liaison who had been present at the meeting of the two countries; and a young diplomat to Rome, left the women of their own accord for a night out in Tor Bella Monaca to celebrate. Not exactly the greatest place for two princes, but the perfect coverup for the heinous crime that Alys’ betrothed was about to commit.
Word of the Crown’s death came sometime over the next several hours and the next several months were like a blur. No one had suspected a thing, and the one coherent witness that was there that night was threatened to great lengths. However, in all of this, Alys’ life was thrown upside down when she was soon announced as the new Crown Princess of Wales.
Mourning her brother’s passing would be put on hold as she would take over a role she never expected. But relations between the country of Wales and Italy had turned sour. And with tensions mounting elsewhere in the world, Alys’ father and mother felt it best to send her off to Russia for protection. Losing their pride and joy had nearly destroyed their family, and the idea of possibly losing their daughter as well, and the right to hold the throne in the future, couldn’t be fathomed. But what they didn’t know was that the murderer of their son was engaged to their daughter and set to be the future King of Wales, if all continued to go according to his plan.
HEADCANONS
Though her brother was the center of attention and the apple of their parents’ eye, Alys was still extremely close to him. They would often come to each other and have conversations about life. Him, spilling the details and annoyances of holding the title of Crown, and her, explaining how invisible she had felt at times. Surprisingly enough, this helped to keep their relationship solid, and if one was ever jealous of the other, they would speak it out loud. They were each other’s rock, so when Alwyn was killed, Alys had felt like she had truly lost a part of herself.
Because of how open Alwyn was with her about his duties as the Crown Prince and how observant she was over the years, Alys does have more of an understanding of what is expected of her than her parents and the media think.
While she seems rather reserved and quiet in the public eye, Alys does enjoy having a good time with her closest friends. However, alcohol and recreational drugs have never been a desire of hers.
Horses are a passion for her. Coming from a long line of horse breeders, she knows her stuff. It was also her biggest escape, when the focus would be on her brother. She has many trophies and ribbons from the competitions she’s entered over the years.
Dylan, her Pembroke Welsh Corgi, is whom she misses the most. Despite being betrothed and having her parents back home, the small dog has been the one that’s heard her sobs, seen her tears, and somehow managed to make her laugh despite how broken hearted she’s felt since her brother’s death and the passing of the title of Crown.
Alys enjoys jazz and classical music. It helps her relax and to clear her mind. But she secret loves hard rock. Only Alwyn knew this about her, and they would have jam sessions together to let out the day’s frustrations.
She enjoys studying history and how the world came to be in its current state; a quality vital to ruling Wales someday. She particularly enjoys reading about rulers of the past and the United States fascinates her greatly. She also enjoys reading biographies, but does enjoy a good dystopian tale every now and then or a book about the stars and space.
More to come...

Cyngor Gwynedd council held their Governance and Audit Committee on the 14 December 2023.These committee meetings are not webcast so not available to the public nor Councillors to view on the website.
Gwynedd's Digital Strategy Review was discussed. Geraint Owen, the senior officer with responsibility for the strategy bemoaned the fact that the timing for the review was tight and that the council did not at the time of the audit have a plan whilst acknowledging the previous Digital Strategy had come to an end in 2018...
The corporate director rejected Audit Wales's observation on the Council’s decision to not consult with the pubic to develop a Digital Strategy – he noted that there had been a consultation period on the Council Plan and that establishing a Strategy was part of that Plan. He also highlighted his opinion that the report created a misunderstanding of the developments in the field and that they need to avoid this in the future.
Wales Audit responded to the director by asserting that theconsultation did not have sufficent focus on the digital field and reiterated the fact that Gwynedd council produced no evidence of reporting on progress or value for money and that the new strategy should adopt these monitoring elements.
Geraint Owen wished it noted that he did not agree with Wales Audit and on the point of ensuring value for money - it was recognised that the Strategy had not been refreshed since 2018, so in that respect it was difficult to understand how it would have been possible to monitor the achievement of a document that did not exist. Dewi Morgan, the Head of Finance, attempted to support the director by adding - that a further discussion was needed on the definition of 'value for money', that is, discuss how value for money and productivity can be measured within the Local Authority.
Regardless of the protestations of the Executive officer, the Digital Strategy Reviewis scathing - https://democracy.gwynedd.llyw.cymru/documents/s39725/Appendix%201%20Digital%20strategy%20review.%20Gwynedd.pdf
A call for the Committee to support permanent revenue bids for realising the Digital Strategy was voted down. Senior officers informed the meeting that the audit of the council's final accounts was not yet completed. The Chair expressed her disappointment...
The full minutes of the December meeting can be found in the agenda pack for the Governance and Audit Committee held on the 18th January, 2024 and can be found here - https://democracy.gwynedd.llyw.cymru//documents/g4962/Public%20reports%20pack%2018th-Jan-2024%2010.00%20Governance%20and%20Audit%20Committee.pdf?T=10
At the January 18th meeting, Gwynedd council's accounts were finally released alongside warnings that the financial situation is dire. Members of the Committee pointed out the disconnect between the public reports of the senior officers and the reality of the situation facing the council which was shared to members behind closed doors by the CEO, Dafydd Gibbard. The accounts show the usuable reserves are just over £133.5 million pounds down from the previous years £142.5 million.
Councillor Ioan Thomas, Cabinet Member for Finance presented the Savings Review report, the Revenue Budget and the end of November 2023 Capital Programme review which calls for an increase in borrowing and an increase in the use of grants and contributions to balance the departments overspends.
The review of Gwynedd council's scrutiny arrangements authored by Ian Jones, Head of Democracy Services and Vera Jones, Democracy and Language Services Manager was also presented. Tensions between members became high for this discussion with some Councillors complaining that scrutiny does not work. Mention was made that there can not be real democracy without proper scrutiny and that the Plaid Cymru group were in effect shutting down democracy.
Councillor Edgar Wyn Owen tried to rubbish the claims until it was pointed out that he himself was elected unopposed in his constituency of Waunfawr. In all 28 councillors were elected without a vote being cast - 19 of them Plaid Cymru members.
The Governance and Audit Committee is an important meeting and should be webcast by the council or at the very least the recorded Zoom meeting should be made available on Gwynedd's website for Councillors and the public to view...
Something is very wrong within Gwynedd council...

B:sides ~ weLLsh
The B:sides-Playlist 2017-10-30 @ Radio Vättervåg 98,5 Mhz
This week: weLLsh
1. 'B:zväng' TextMix & reading af MrZ Komposition & Produktion af SkåneJokke Lütz [0:41]
THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO WELSH FOLK compiled by Cerys Matthews ~ albumrelease 27th October 2017 [ EUCD2744 ] ~ 2. Nansi Richards: Pwt ar y Bys (A Little Something for the Fingers) (trad., arr. Nansi Richards) From ‘Brenhines y Delyn/Queen of the Welsh Harp’ - Nansi Richards We kick off with a recording of the original Queen of the Harp, Nansi Richards, playing a traditional tune recorded in the twilight of her life. Nansi must have been some character. Like Jimi Hendrix, she played tricks with her instruments, playing harp with her back turned, or 2 at a time. Born in Oswestry in 1888, she went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music, London, and toured America. A huge figure in Welsh folk, she taught triple harp to Llio Rhydderch, as well as Dafydd and Gwyndaf from Ar Log, all of whom feature in this collection. ℗ 1959, Sain (Recordiau) Cyf licensed [2:15] 3. Robin Huw Bowen: Gypsy Waltzes (trad., arr. Robin Huw Bowen) From ‘Y Ffordd i Aberystwyth/The Road to Aberystwyth’ - Robin Huw Bowen Robin Huw Bowen is the world’s leading exponent of our national instrument, the triple harp. Interestingly, the tradition of playing this harp with three rows of strings and no pedals is alive and well today, only thanks to a family of Roma travellers led by Abram Wood, whose descendants would play harp for Queen Victoria. Enjoy the strength and muscularity of Robin on this track. He says, “Two wonderful Victorian swingers from the inimitable playing of Eldra Jarman. I had snatches of the first tune from Eldra while she was still alive, and then the second tune from a recording made of her by Professor Peter Crossley- Holland. Then I had the complete version of the first tune from an old BBC programme about Eldra… in St Ffagan’s Museum.” Robin is the only full-time professional Welsh harpist specializing solely in the Welsh triple harp, and his influence on the world of Welsh folk music and harping has been far-reaching. ℗ 2007, Sain (Recordiau) Cyf licensed [3:36] 4. Crasdant: Pibddawns Trefynwy (Monmouth Hornpipe) (trad., arr. Robin Huw Bowen/Andy McLauchlin/Stephen P. Rees/Huw Williams) From ‘Dwndwr/The Great Noise’ - Crasdant The harp reigns supreme in Welsh folk music, so here’s another, and again with Robin but joined this time by Stephen Rees, Andy McLauchlin, and the whistles and the stepping sound of clog dancer Huw Williams as Crasdant. For me this is the Welsh folk tune where one might regress to being a child, dressed head to toe in scratchy Welsh flannel learning folk dance steps. ℗ 2005, Sain (Recordiau) Cyf licensed to ARC Music Productions International Ltd. Published by Cyhoeddiadau Sain [3:53] 5. Phil Tanner: The Gower Reel (trad.) From ‘The Gower Nightingale’ – Phil Tanner Phil Tanner is one South Glamorgan’s greatest traditional folk singers. He was originally from Llangenith in the Gower Peninsula, South Wales, where he had sung all his life, however he wasn’t recorded until he was in his seventies. He became renowned locally as “the Gower Nightingale” and recorded for the likes of Columbia and the BBC. He passed away in February 1950 and was remembered in a BBC Radio 4 tribute by Wynford Vaughan-Thomas who referred to him as, “the voice of the sanest, happiest, kindest eccentric I ever knew”. ℗ 2003, Veteran Tapes licensed to ARC Music Productions International Ltd. Published by Veteran Tapes www.veteran.co.uk [3:35] 6. Calan: Rhif Wyth (Rhif 8 - No. 8) (trad., arr. Calan) From ‘Bling’ – Calan Calan bring together the remarkable talents of 5 young musicians giving a fresh and vibrant sound to traditional Welsh music. With a contemporary and lively approach, they breathe new life into the old traditions through their sparkling melodies, foot tapping tunes and spirited and energetic performances of Welsh step dancing. ℗ 2008, Sain (Recordiau) Cyf licens [2:44] 7. Cayo Evans: Men of Harlech (trad., arr. Cayo Evans) From ‘Marching Songs of The Free Wales Army’ – Cayo Evans Cayo was conscripted into the British Army aged 18, and served actively in Malaya. This experience, coupled with his fascination with politics, inspired by a Polish man who taught him at Millfield, embittered him towards the British Government and their manhandling of Wales. He was said to be radicalised after the drowning of a Welsh village to build Tryweryn reservoir (see Meic Stevens’ bio – CD1, track 2) and formed the Free Wales Army, whose dalliances with explosives and other public order offenses ended up with him serving a 13-month prison sentence. This track of the very famous marching song Men of Harlech has Cayo introducing then playing the accordion, and was released in 2008 on Anhrefn Records, Anhrefn being one of the pioneering bands singing Welsh language music across Europe in the punk era. ℗ 2008, Anhrefn Records licensed to [1:36] 8. Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog: Didl-Dei (Aled Wyn Hughes/Iwan Glyn Hughes/Dafydd Rhys Hughes, arr. Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog) ‘Didl-Dei’ appears on Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog’s album ‘Dawn y Trychfilod’ on the Sbrigyn Ymborth label. www.sbrigynymborth.com Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog are a folk band consisting of three brothers, Aled, Dafydd, and Iwan Hughes from Rhos Botwnnog, the Llyn Peninsula, and accompanying musicians and singers. They experiment with country, folk and rock music. Most of their lyrics are in Welsh. This example is a tiny but wonderfully whimsical interlude from this band worth checking out live and on record. ℗ 2007, Cyhoeddiadau Sbrigyn Ymborth licensed to ARC Music Productions International Ltd. Published by Cyhoeddiadau Sbrigyn Ymborth [0:26] 9. Cass Meurig and Nial Cain: Tair Meillionen (trad., arr. Cass Meurig/Nial Cain) From ‘Deuawd’ – Cass Meurig and Nial Cain Cass plays the fiddle and crwth, that medieval bowed lyre with gut strings and droney sound. She grew up in the north of England playing tunes and singing with her parents and sisters. Over the last few years she has played internationally and recorded with Welsh bands Pigyn Clust and Fernhill. Here she plays alongside Nial Cain, on guitar, who grew up in Deiniolen, in the slate quarrying heartland of North Wales. With a rich history of playing with folk and ceilidh bands, he played in many of Tyneside’s barn dance bands including the Borderers where he was taught fiddle by leader Forster Charlton, a living link to the pre-folk revival tradition. Ten years ago he moved back to North Wales and found his interest in the Welsh folk music tradition rekindled. ℗ 2008, Fflach Cyfyngedig licensed to ARC Music Productions International Ltd. Published by Cyhoeddiadau Mwldan Publications [2:43] 10. Llio Rhydderch: Dafydd y Garreg Wen (David of the White Rock) (trad., arr. Llio Rhydderch) From ‘Melangell’ – Llio Rhydderch Another intuitive musician who can make me burst into tears, such is the poignancy of her playing. Here Llio plays Dafyd y Garreg Wen, first published in 1784 by Edward Jones, the king’s harpist. Edward was the first to claim that the Dafydd in the title was a Caernarvonshire harpist who wrote the tune on his death bed (although there are some whispers that allude to a Scottish or even Russian origin. We’ll never know!). Llio Rhydderch is a traditional Welsh harper, a creative artist who is recognised as a most innovative and influential exponent of the Welsh triple garp. Llio is descended from the ancient Welsh harpers in an unbroken direct line which extends back many centuries. Through her, this unique line lives on and she is pivotal in its preservation as she passes on this ancient art to the next generation, teaching them to play traditional airs by ear, to be able to write variations before returning to the original melody. ℗ 2001, Fflach Cyfyngedig licensed to ARC Music Productions International Ltd. Published by Cyhoeddiadau Mwldan Publications [2:20] 11. Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita: Ceffylau (Horses) (Catrin Finch/Seckou Keita) From ‘Clychau Dibon’ – Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita (A Theatr Mwldan/Astar Artes co-production) Catrin is a fearless and natural performer and rare in that she is totally at home across genres: classical, jazz, folk and world music. Catrin has won accolades the world over for her virtuosic performances with some of the world’s finest orchestras. She has also worked with Malian kora player Toumani Diabaté, and Colombian band Cimarrón, and switches from Bach’s Goldberg Variations to traditional folk or Colombian joropo music with ease and aplomb. Seckou Keita, from the Casamance area of Senegal, was born into the world-famous royal Keita and griot Cissokho families, and has played with his uncle Solo Cissokho and Guinean master djembe player Mamady Keita, in addition to appearing with both Salif Keita and Youssou N’Dour, and more recently alongside Paul Weller, Damon Albarn and Julia Holter on the Africa Express presents The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians tour. I love how these two great players share with us their joy in bringing their far-off traditions together in such a beautiful collision. ℗ 2013, Catrin Finch/Seckou Keita/Theatr Mwldan/Astar Artes licensed to ARC Music Productions International Ltd. Published by Catrin Finch & Seckou Keita [5:17] 12. Elinor Bennett: Pant Corlan yr Ŵyn (trad., arr. Elinor Bennett) From ‘Y Delyn Gymreig/The Welsh Harp’ – Elinor Bennett Elinor Bennett is one of Wales’ most distinguished musicians, and has travelled extensively giving concerts, recitals and masterclasses. She is regarded as one of Britain’s most influential harp teachers, who, by the by, also taught Catrin the harp. Eagle eared listeners might also recognise her playing, as she was the harpist who played with us on Bulimic Beats on Catatonia’s Equally Cursed and Blessed. This is another firm favourite on the Welsh folk dance floor, a useful tune to wave those handkerchiefs to thank your adoring audience as you make the final circle and leave the stage. ℗ 1985, Sain (Recordiau) Cyf licensed to ARC Music Productions International Ltd. Published by Cyhoeddiadau Sain [2:33] 13. DnA (Delyth and Angharad Jenkins): Glyn Tawe (trad., arr. Delyth and Angharad Jenkins) From ‘Adnabod’ – DnA - Delyth and Angharad Jenkins Traditional and new Welsh music on the harp and fiddle. DnA by name, DnA by nature: music is in the very DNA of this hugely talented mother-and-daughter duo from Wales, both of whom enjoy international reputations not only as soloists but as members of such bands as Calan, Adran D, Aberjaber and Cromlech. Whether they’re vamping up a traditional oldie or minting something entirely new, there’s a timeless beauty to these intimate and irresistible conversations between harp and fiddle. ℗ 2013, Fflach Cyfyngedig licensed to ARC Music Productions International Ltd. Published by Cyhoeddiadau Mwldan Publications [4:22] 14. Jamie Smith’s MABON: Croeso Ioan (Jamie Smith, arr. Jamie Smith’s MABON) From ‘The Space Between’ – Jamie Smith’s MABON Jamie Smith’s MABON is an InterCeltic band; composer-accordionist Jamie was taken every year by his folk-dancing parents to the mighty Festival Interceltique in Brittany, surrounding him from an early age with music from the Celtic regions and beyond. He accompanied Welsh dancers at just five years old. Joining him here are Oli, a Welsh fiddler with Balkan flair; Paul, a guitarist from Wales who’s more Manx than plenty of people born on the Isle of Man; Matt, a bluegrassloving bass player from Carmarthen; and Iolo, a drummer from the Welsh woods with a passion for world music and jazz. They’ve played WOMAD, WOMEX, Shetland, Rainforest World Music Festival (Borneo), Fairport’s Cropredy Convention, Hebcelt, Celtic Connections, and the massive Festival Interceltique de Lorient. ℗ 2015, Easy on the Records licensed to ARC Music Productions International Ltd. MARGARET WYN o Feifod
Roedd Margaret Wyn yn fenyw a gafodd ei chyhuddo o ddefnyddio dewiniaeth i orfodi menyw arall o’r enw Margaret Lloyd i garu dyn o’r enw John ap Gruffydd.
Yn ôl y cyhuddiadau, yn mis Medi 1578, cwrddodd merch o’r enw Margaret Lloyd â gŵr bonheddig o’r enw John ap Gruffydd, o Lanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, yn marchnad Llanfyllin. Aeth Margaret Lloyd â John ap Gruffydd i dafarn, lle cwrddodd y ddau â menyw hŷn o’r enw Margaret Wyn. Ceisiodd Margaret Wyn berswadio Margaret Lloyd i fynd i ffwrdd â John ap Gruffydd, ond gwrthododd Margaret Lloyd.
Rai wythnosau yn ddiweddarach, ceisiodd Margaret Wyn wahodd Margaret Lloyd draw i’w thŷ, gan fod John ap Gruffydd am siarad â hi. Gwrthododd Margaret Lloyd, felly anfonodd Margaret Wyn Lowri, ei merch a oedd yn ffrindiau gyda Margaret Lloyd, draw i’w pherswadio. Unwaith iddi gyrraedd y tŷ, ceisiodd Margaret Wyn ei pherswadio eto i redeg i ffwrdd â John ap Gruffydd, ond gwrthod eto wnaeth Margaret Lloyd.
Rhoddodd Margaret Wyn afal iddi, a wedi i Margaret Lloyd ddechrau bwyta’r afal, dechreuodd deimlo’n benysgafn, a dechreuodd gael dannodd ar ochr dde ei cheg. Cwynodd ei bod yn teimlo’n sâl. Rhoddodd Margaret Wyn bowdr iddi er mwyn ei gwella. Cymerodd Margaret Lloyd y powdr, er ei fod yn blasu’n chwerw, a theimlodd ei llwnc yn boeth wedi iddi ei lyncu. Aeth Margaret Lloyd yn chwys drosti, a theimlai fel bod rhywun wedi ei tharo. Cynigodd John ap Gruffydd fynd â hi i dŷ dyn o’r enw Dafydd ap William Vaughan ym Mhenybont ger Llangollen.
Ar y ffordd, cwrddodd y ddau â llawer o bobl oedd yn poeni am Margaret, gan fod John ap Gruffydd yn gymeriad amheus, ac yn ŵr priod a chanddo blant. Talodd John arian i bobl i beidio a dweud eu bod nhw wedi ei weld gyda Margaret.
Arhosodd y ddau yn nhŷ Dafydd ap William o ddydd Iau hyd at fore Llun, er bod perchennog y lle i ffwrdd, ac nad oedd wedi rhoi caniatâd iddynt aros yno.
Yn ôl yr achos llys, dywedodd Margaret Lloyd , ers iddi gymryd y powdr a’r afal bod sawl un o’i dannedd wedi cwympo allan, a’i bod wedi dechrau teimlo ei hun yn gwallgofi pan fyddai’r lleuad yn newid. Roedd Margaret Lloyd yn argyhoeddedig ei bod wedi cael ei rheibio i garu John ap Gruffydd drwy fwyta’r afal a’r powdr.
Gwadodd Margaret Wyn ei bod wedi defnyddio gwrachyddiaeth a rheibio Margaret Lloyd.
Dywedodd Margaret Wyn mai alwm llosg oedd y powdr a’i bod wedi dysgu gan feddyg o’r enw William Gilbert sut gallai powdr alwm llosg wella dannodd. Roedd hi wedi ei roi i sawl person oedd â dannodd yn y gorffennol. Methwyd ei chosbi am reibio, ond mae’n debygol ei bod wedi cael ei chosbi am beth ddigwyddodd i Margaret Lloyd.

MARGARET LLOYD Margaret Wyn was a woman who was accused of using witchcraft in order to force another woman called Margaret Lloyd to love a man called John ap Gruffydd. According to the accusations, in September 1578, a young woman called Margaret Lloyd met a gentleman called John ap Gruffydd, from Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, in Llanfyllin market. Margaret Lloyd and John ap Gruffydd went to a pub, where both met a third older woman called Margaret Wyn. Margaret Wyn tried to persuade Margaret Lloyd to go away with John ap Gruffydd, but Margaret Lloyd refused. Some weeks later, Margaret Wyn attempted to invite Margaret Lloyd to her house, as John ap Gruffydd wanted to speak to her. Margaret Lloyd refused, so Margaret Wyn sent her daughter Lowri, who was friends with Margaret Lloyd, over to persuade her. Once Margaret Lloyd arrived at the house, Margaret Wyn once again tried to persuade her to run away with John ap Gruffydd, but Margaret Lloyd refused once more. Margaret Wyn gave Margaret Lloyd an apple, and as soon as Margaret Lloyd began to eat the apple she started to feel light-headed, and she started to develop a tooth-ache on the right side of her mouth. She complained that she was beginning to feel ill. Margaret Wyn gave Margaret Lloyd some powder to make her feel better. Margaret Lloyd took the powder, although it tasted bitter, and she felt her throat get hot as she swallowed it. Margaret Lloyd started to sweat, and felt like someone had hit her. John and Gruffydd offered to take her to a man called Dafydd ap William Vaughan’s house in Penybont near Llangollen. While they were on their way to Llangollen, John ap Gruffydd and Margaret Lloyd both met people who were worried about Margaret Lloyd as John ap Gruffydd was a suspicious character, and was married with children. John gave people money so that they wouldn’t repeat that they had seen him with Margaret Lloyd. Margaret Lloyd and John ap Gruffydd stayed in Dafydd ap William’s house from Thursday until Monday morning, although the owner of the house was away and hadn’t given them permission to stay there. In the court case, Margaret Lloyd said that her teeth had started to fall out since she ate the apple and the powder, and she’d started to feel herself maddening as the moon changed. Margaret Lloyd was convinced that Margaret Wyn had cursed her to love John ap Gruffydd by eating the apple and the powder. Margaret Wyn denied the accusation, and denied using witchcraft and cursing Margaret Lloyd. Margaret Wyn stated that the powder was burnt alum, and she had learnt how to use it to cure toothache from a doctor called William Gilbert. She had also given this powder to several other people to treat toothache in the past. Although the court couldn’t punish her for cursing the young woman, it is likely that she was punished for what had happened to Margaret Lloyd. “The big difference between these hot springs and the ones you might see elsewhere in the world is that Japanese convention dictates that, in most onsens, you’ve got to be naked.
“The boys started off in the onsens with their shorts on, then they got down to their budgie smugglers and now everyone’s in the nude.”

France’s scrum-half Antoine Dupont is from Castelnau-Magnoac – deep in traditional French rugby country.
His brother Clement Dupont and their mother Marie-Pierre Dupont posed for this shot earlier this week.
You can practically hear the Manon des Sources theme playing in the background.

How could you forget?
Sam Warburton’s red card saw Wales play for more than an hour with 14 men and still they came within an under-powered long-range Leigh Halfpenny penalty of making their way to a first Rugby World Cup final.
And that was after Stephen Jones had hit the upright with a second-half conversion that would have put Wales into the lead.

‘We have lost a lot of experience’

Wales coach Warren Gatland:“We have some quality available to replace him but it’s disappointing for Jonathan. Owen is a player for the future and we have a lot of faith in him, but Jonathan’s been on Lions tours and we have lost a lot of experience.
“Owen worked hard in training in the week. It should not affect us too much today.”

Brittle Welsh midfield

Jonathan Davies’ late withdrawal is a serious blow for Wales but not entirely surprising given how pained he look after suffering the injury during the win over Fiji.
This is a brittle Welsh midfield with fly-half Dan Biggar and inside centre Hadleigh Parkes also suffering injuries in Wales’ past two matches.
A big test for Owen Watkin at 13.

And there has been some early news this morning to set Welsh nerves trembling….
Jonathan Davies. midfield keystone and defensive captain, has been ruled out of the match after aggravating a knee injury that he first picked up against Fiji.
Owen Watkin comes into the centres with Leigh Halfpenny promoted to the bench.
There has been no indication yet from the WRU whether Davies will be ruled out for the rest of the tournament should Wales defeat France in the last eight.

No logic with Les Bleus
Wales v France (08:15 BST)
Tumblr media
Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Oita Stadium
All logic points to a Wales win today but this is France and, without straying into the old cliches which follow this uniquely unpredictable team, logic seldom applies to Les Bleus.
They have been typically inconsistent on the pitch so far in Japan and there has been the usual unrest off the field, with reports of players undermining head coach Jacques Brunel.
It all sounds worryingly similar to the build-up to the 2011 semi-final. France had lost to Tonga in the pool stage, coach Marc Lievremont had lost the support of his players and Wales were flying.
But Welsh supporters need no reminding of how that match actually panned out.

‘Turn up or go home’
Wales v France (08:15 BST)
After a comprehensive win over Georgia, a less convincing display against Uruguay and a narrow victory over Australia, Wales are onto the high wire of the knock out stages.
As Neil Jenkins says, it is time to turn up or go home.
