Even though he was sad that he couldn’t make no snow angels anymore in the snow, he was excited for the party on the lake. Valentin threw on some shorts, shirt and grabbed his water gun, because gosh darn it, he didn’t bring the thing for no reason, slipped his feet into sandals, and run towards the lake. He screeched to a stop and nearly falling on his arse when he heard Alys’ voice and went back to her. “I am, actually.” he answered proudly. “I’m going to have fun, relax…and maybe start a water gun fight.”
.
Alys had just stepped outside her room, when she saw Val go running past her. However, watching him almost slip brought both horror and laughter to her face, “All the best reasons to go. And water gun fights? I haven’t participated in one of those in ages.” Valentine had reminded Alys of Alwyn in a lot of ways, and the thought made her smile. “If I can find a spare water gun somewhere around the castle, you’re on, my friend. My brother taught me everything I know, so you had better watch out Prince Valentine. For this is the day, Austria is being taken down by Wales.” She grinned. It felt nice being able to openly be herself around someone again as she had become closer to Val over the past several months.

The sun was shining and Emilia couldn’t deny that she was looking forward to the lake party. It was what they all deserved, wasn’t it? A way to relax and destress now that most of the reconstruction after the avalanche was complete. Everyone deserved a chance to let loose. After throwing on a swim dress over her bathing suit, Mia grabbed a towel before heading out the door. Her flip-flops made an annoying sound with each step but she didn’t care. The woman paused when someone called out to her. With a smile. she turned and nodded her head. “Yep! Wanna walk down there with me?”
.
Alys hadn’t spoken to Emilia much, but today would be the perfect opportunity to get to know her better, “I would absolutely love to.” There was some part of the redhead that had regretted not getting to know her fellow roommates of the castle better. She had spent so much time getting to know those in the village, who needed the most help, that she had neglected getting to know the people she would one day be meeting with on official, royal business. But today wasn’t a day for that. It was a day for fun in the sun and laughter, “I’m not sure who had the idea for a lake party, but I think we could all use some fun after this past winter.” She looked back to make sure her door was shut all the way, before moving forward.

As the blonde really like to help people spite of her timid nature, she didn’t hesitate in make the other’s company until reach the lake. ❝ Okay. ❞ She smiled sheepishly, embracing the towel and walking by her side. ❝ The name’s Charlotte, Charlotte Walker. ❞ She had seen the redhead around, but she isn’t exactly sociable kind of person. Therefore she felt she needed introduce herself to the other.
Alys was grateful to have someone to walk with, and with her own towel in tow, she gladly followed Charlotte, “It’s lovely to meet you, Charlotte. I’m Alys Tudor of Wales.” The redhead sent a smile in the other woman’s direction, “Have you lived been in Khatanga long?” She knew she should have been more sociable when she arrived, but grief had made her long for the company of her bed rather than human interaction. It took the Valentine’s Day event to really force Alys to start being more sociable.

“No, not at all,” she answered with a smile back, too excited to even think about who would be at the party. Hearing the introduction made Lilli pause and took her hand and shook it. “Lilliana-and no, I don’t believe we have met.” Lilliana told her. “But most people call me Lilli for short, though honestly I don’t mind it if you call me by my full name or my nickname.”
.
“You are a God send, Lilli.” Alys pulled back her hand. “I’ve never been one for showing up to parties alone. They’re usually more formal than this, and a bit on the ridiculous side, if you ask me, but this one actually seems fun.” Royal parties were a drag. At least in Alys opinion. They were more so formal and you had to be on your best behavior. It was more a party for politics than anything, and being somewhat on the introverted side anyways had always made it a challenge for the young crown. “Have you lived in Khatanga for long?”

“It does,” Val nodded as he turned to her. “Though I wish I had my boat so I can sail around the lake, maybe around here for a bit before I bring it back in. Might even go fishing if I could.” he said with a shrug. But hey, he wasn’t the one complaining about it. “Oh yeah, it is. It was either that, or I swim around the lake for a bit.”
.
“I’d imagine these don’t compare to a sail boat in any way, but they definitely make for a good workout.” She looked over to the boat he was getting ready to take out and the boats on the shore, “Although, I don’t know if I’d trust swimming too far out in this lake. It looks kind of murky in the middle.” Alys laughed. She enjoyed swimming, but she also enjoyed being able to see the bottom. Having fish and other random creatures nibble at her toes wasn’t something she was too terribly fond of. “Have you ever had a fish mistake a toe for a worm?”

giodmarco:
Stopped by the very voice of the person who he was looking for, Gio grinned as he turned and saw Alys. “I am, but I wanted to drop this off to you first.” The blue book in hand was almost destroyed, the water damage making it beyond repair and pages ripped pretty badly but when he had seen it in a pile of things about to be tossed out he knew the condition didn’t matter. The page she had spoken of with Alwyn’s note wasn’t as bad as the others and though some of the message wasn’t legible anymore he thought she would still appreciate it. “It was pure luck…me finding it, I mean. They were about to haul it to the trash dump.”
.
When she heard Gio’s a voice, a smile came across her face. He had been a person of comfort and a great friend in all that had happened, but what he proceeded to do next was unexpected. Setting eyes on the dirty, nearly destroyed blue cover made Alys’ heart stop. Her book. The book she thought was gone forever. It seemed as if all she had been doing since she had arrived in Khatanga months ago was cry, but for the first time, this was happy tears. The man in front of her had done the impossible. Reaching out and slowly taking the book from him, Alys let her eyes move up to meet his, “Gio...you...” Words were few as she clutched the book tightly, before sending a tight hug his way.

giodmarco:
As soon as the flare had gone into the sky Gio could feel a shift happening in the air. Something was going on, that much was obvious, but he hadn’t known the seriousness of the situation until people he’d thought they could all trust started turning on them. Fellow guards, townspeople he’d gotten along with, even staff higher up in the leadership chain stood with the numerous people now pointing weapons in their direction and there was nothing he could do to fight back. All he could do was glare and stand in front of as many people as he could while someone took his firearm from him. “This is insane,” he mumbled, his eyes rolling softly while he tried to take in as many people as possible just to confirm nothing had happened to them yet. “Nobody needs to get hurt tonight…”
.
The day had been so much more fun than she had expected, but once the flare went up, it was as if the fun had been sucked out of the air immediately, and everyone’s mood shifted to that of terror and anger. Alys knew something was wrong. People she had seen around the castle and spoken to seemed to have changed their demeanor in a heartbeat by the way they stood side-by-side with others who had weapons clearly visible. If today was going to be the day she died, she didn’t want to be alone and laying eyes on Gio, the one person who seemed to understand everything she had been through, left her slowly side stepping closer to him with every passing second.

Charlotte heard that was lake party would be happening. For a introverted person like herself, it’s not really fun. But for her own sake and the need to be more social with people, she decided to step by. Perhaps she could meet a familiar face around there. The Aussie princess, stopped her tracks when the redhead shot a question for her. ❝ Y-Yes… Are you? ❞ She asked timidly.
Alys had seen Charlotte around the castle, but hadn’t talked to her much. In fact, the woman had stayed to herself mostly, aside from the Valentine’s Day event and helping out with the Avalanche aftermath, but this was a chance to branch out even more and the blonde headed woman standing in front of her had seemed sweet from what she could tell in passing, “Yes, I think so. Would you like to walk down to the lake with me? I was headed there now, but didn’t want to walk alone.”

lillianaxcarlisle:
“Party?” Lilliana echoed when she heard the word. Party should’ve been her middle name because she loved parties-she could be in one all day and not even care about who sees her or who’s going to get on her left and right. She was honestly tired of that and wanted to relax and have fun. “Of course I’m going to the party,” she said, now brightening up. “In fact, I’m heading there right this second.”
.
Someone else going was a win in her book. She hadn’t really known Lilliana that well, but she had seen her around, and it beat walking down to the lake alone, “Really? Would you mind if I tagged along? I’m not much for parties, but I figured if everyone else was going to have some fun, I should, too.” She smiled. “I don’t believe we’ve met. I’m Alys.” She stuck out her hand to make Lilliana’s acquaintance.

With word of a party down by the lake happening, Alys had been a bit apprehensive at first after everything that had happened with the avalanche, but after giving it some thought, the idea of getting out of the castle and being in the sun for longer than just a few minutes seemed to sit well in her mind. She had brood in her own sorrow for long enough, and the crown princess decided she had deserved a little happiness. Throwing on her swimsuit, a pair of shorts, and a jacket, Alys stepped out of her room, towel in tow just in time to see someone walking past her, “Are you going to the party at the lake?” She had hoped she would have a buddy to walk down to the lake with.

crownprincexvalentin:
Going to the lake for a party sounded like fun, though he was sad that he couldn’t bring his sailboat to at least sail around…but when his eyes fell to the kayak, his lips turned up into a huge smile. It wasn’t his huge sailboat, but he’ll deal with it. So he went over to the kayaks, grinning from ear to ear and rubbing his hands together as he went over. “A good day to be in the water,” he mused to himself, humming as he picked up his small boat and went to the water. “I bet I can row all the way to the edge then come right on back without tiring myself.” he challenged with a happy smile.
.
The weather was warm. The snow, for the most part, was gone, and the town was starting to rebuild life after the avalanche. Things felt good. They felt right. Her heart seemed to be in a bit of a better place after all that had happened, and now, here she stood at the edge of the lake dressed ready to enjoy some fun in the sun, “Those look fun.” She noticed Valentin getting ready to take off on a trip around the lake. She hadn’t dare asked if she could join, but would instead snag a boat of her own, “A great day for a trip around the lake.”

james-brixton:
James merely nodded as the young woman thanked him. There was nothing to thank for- no words would ever fix it, or take the pain away. All he could do was try, but even despite his high position, there was only so much that could be done. “I’m fine, thank you. We’ve all been keeping ourselves busy by helping around the town and the castle. It’s not a lot, but it keeps people occupied and helps fix things.”
.
Fixing things. Maybe that’s what she needed...a project. A way to get her mind off the loss of her book. And to channel her sadness and anger at the entire situation into something productive. It would look good for her country, but more importantly, would be a sort of cathartic release she knew she needed. “Does it help you? Personally? To feel...better?” She looked at him with desperation hoping this would be the answer, “I mean is there anything I could do to help? I’ll clean, get my hands dirty, scour the rubble...I don’t care. I just need something.” She had hoped he would say yes.

widcwed-rasa:
Rasa sighed at the words. She knew them all too well, and the burden they placed over someone’s shoulders. “You know, it’s all right to fall apart. To not think this is okay,” she pointed out. It might not change the result, but there was some solace to knowing one could be true to their feelings. Even if it only happened once every blue moon. At the question, however, Rasa stopped. This was probably not the time to say something like it. “In a way,” she let her head tilt to the side as she shrugged. “Nothing of the material sort though. My bedroom is in another wing. But, I’m now sharing it because Eamon’s room used to be that way too,” she explained as she gestured towards the spot they were looking at. “By the way, where are you staying?”
.
She knew Rasa was right. Sometimes Alys tried so hard to be the perfect daughter. To save face and prove that she could handle what was to become of her when she took the throne and to prove everyone wrong. But God how she wanted to fall apart sometimes. How she just wanted to let it all out and not hold it back anymore, “You’re right. I know you are, but sometimes...” Sometimes she had wished this wasn’t her life. As selfish as it seemed, she had wished her brother had never died, so he would still be the crown, and she hated herself for those thoughts. But knowing that Rasa still had her room and her belongings was a bit of a relief and it reminded her that not all was lost in such a tragedy, “Eamon’s a great guy. Is he being kind to you? Because if not, I’ll have a word with him.” She had known him and his family long enough that she felt comfortable speaking up on Rasa’s behalf, if need be, but that was a big if. “Me? I was put in some random room. Half the time I can’t even remember where its at.” She sniffled slightly wiping away a few stray tears that were still trying to slip through.

pimchaiket:
With the idea Pim’s eyes lit up and she nodded enthusiastically, feeling the innate urge to keep upbeat and continue distracting Alys. Besides, it also worked to keep herself focused and not going too insane. “That’s a brilliant idea! Then we can just mimic lighting it. Alys you’re a genuine!” She cried, bouncing onto the balls of her feet. With that she turned to try and catch the attention of the cottage owner, waving them over even as she wrapped a hand around Alys’ wrist and pulled her to the fireplace.
.
Pim’s enthusiasm was well appreciated with everything going on. Alys smiled softly at the thought of the idea working, but didn’t expect to be pulled along by the other princess with such excitement. Following her to the fireplace, she noticed the owner of the cabin was already starting to understand. The young crown of Wales paused for a moment trying to think of the next set of movements that might clue the villager to what the two girls were looking for, “Um...Fire?” Alys started wiggling her fingers hoping it would represent flames flickering. She looked to Pim for backup.

claireedarby:
Claire was not a warm and welcoming person with anyone but she was always worse with royals. There was something about Alys, however, that seemed to disarm her in an unexpected way. “I’ll do that if the building is still standing when they finally let us out of here,” she replied, offering a faint smile. “You’ll always be welcome. People who genuinely love to read are always welcome.” Pushing her hair back from her face, she shook her head. “No, just the last four or so years,” she replied. “Came here once years ago though.”
.
She had hoped Claire’s source of income and a livelihood was still standing. She knew she had been blessed being born into the family she was in. But knowing how easily things could be taken away had started to shift her way of thinking about a lot of things in her life, “You can guarantee I’ll be around then. I imagine you’re able to get in more up-to-date books than the library here in the castle.” There were still a copious amount of books located on the grounds that she hadn’t read, but being stuck in Khatanga left her curious about the rest of the world. “How did you get into selling books?” Conversation, eating, or sleeping seemed to be the only options, and Alys had preferred conversation as long as Claire wanted to talk.

He shrugged. “I read a lot when I was a kid,” he answered. “Or I used to sneak into my family’s library when I was young, and I just started reading a whole lot of books. Also one time I did read the encyclopedia and all day I kept saying random things about forks and spoons and even a ship until my cousin told me to stop before she made me eat rocks. And I didn’t do that day-I just told her a fact about rocks and she just glared at me all day.”
.
“The best way to learn. I used to read a lot growing up as well. Books were my escape when...” She paused. It was okay to talk about Alwyn. She needed to accept that and remember the good with him. To smile and laugh more. “When my parents were busy teaching my brother how to be the future king. He’d always come to me though, because we both liked to joke that I knew more because I read so much.” She was caught off guard about the rocks, but it made her laugh again, “I’d imagine rocks weren’t so appetizing? Does she still get upset when you tell her random facts?”
