being congenitally disabled but having your parents/caregivers/guardians/etc. respond to that by treating you like you're lazy and selfish and just not trying hard enough and it's all your fault and even trying to abuse it out of you (& that failing or disabling you even more.)

then having that trauma reenacted over and over and over and over with medical staff, teachers, professors, employers, supervisors, co-workers, and/or employers doing the exact same thing (depending on whether you're someone who's even capable of being in those contexts because obvs not every disabled person can attend school or work.)

like, not every disabled person is abused by their family for their disability growing up, and otherwise not everything i've stated above is applicable to every disabled person, but enough of us were that it's no wonder so many of us are "mean" and bitter. from early childhood we're treated by so many people around us, and even by institutions, like evil selfish monsters for needing support, care, and even just fucking. compassion, patience, and understanding.

so many of us have to fight, crawl on our hands and knees until our skin is scraped raw, jump through (flaming) hoops, or prostate ourselves to the point of complete and utter exhaustion to get any modicum of that.

how are we supposed to take that other than society wanting us dead, and how is that something we're supposed to be soft about.

okay so since i'm seeing no-one else on here talk about this

If you weren't aware, the SMP (Super Minipla) line of Sentai Robo model kits is currently covering Magiranger, and today revealed their Saintkaiser!

If you're not familiar with this guy; basically, all-timer Sentai suit Wolzard had his own mech, Wolkaiser; which was him combining with his black and gold mecha horse, and that also had a gimmick where it could combine with Red's mecha form which he used frequently -- and in the movie, Red basically got his own white and gold horse recoloured from Wolzard's which transformed into this mech! Obviously SMP already did Wolkaiser, and as an easy repaint is now doing Saintkaiser

This is already really cool, just seeing such an obscure mecha get the full premium treatment 20 years later; but something even cooler about this? This doesn't just include MagiPhoenix (Red's mecha form that makes up part of Saintkaiser). This exclusively includes the first ever figure of Wolzard Fire, recoloured from Wolkaiser's Wolzard figure -- something the original DX toys just never did

And naturally. This functions the exact same as that Wolzard.

So basically SMP have brought to the game two entirely new Magiranger Mech formations as Wolzard Fire can combine with either horse and they both look so goddamn good

Look what came in the mail today! The Ebiten Exclusive Japanese 'Sonic x Shadow Generations' Collector's Edition Deluxe pack with 3D crystal set! This comes with a lot of stuff, so let's unpack it all.

Let's get right to one of the coolest things here - the crystal set! A Shadow and Sonic set, which sit ontop of a base, where you can might it be an awesome LED light show.

A part of the Deluxe package - first we have the wallscoll, with a winged Shadow.

Secondly, a SXSG mug featuring Sonic and Shadow.

The last parts of the DX set are these - an Acrylic Coaster of Shadow (for the mug) and a set of 2 Sonic and Shadow Acrylic Figures.

Now, how about we get onto the collector's edition itself! I got the PS5 version.

Inside you'll find the game, and then a box collecting the Shadow Figure and Keychain. The Art book is at the bottom.

The Shadow figure features him holding his Emblem. Very cool. It's pretty sturdy, though Shadows limbs are a bit thin.

As well as the Sonic and Shadow shoe keychains!

And finally, the art book! It is the same as the digital art book, though perhaps higher resolution, but all awesome.

Tragic Sky

(very long salty rant ahead (+new Alterna backstory, though! ^^;))

So I've always thought Alterna’s backstory, despite being presented as a grand mystery that’s definitely worth fighting through 90% of the missions to uncover in its entirety…was kinda stupid. :/ I’m all for humanity destroying itself for ridiculous reasons, but trying to launch a rocket in an enclosed space?? Are you serious…? o_O How could the Alternans devote such immense amounts of time and energy to something like that without once thinking, “hey, uh…burning metric tons of high-energy fuel inside of our flammable safety dome might be a little unsafe, idk”.

And it shouldn’t even have been necessary! DX I mean, if they were able to build a dome like that in the first place, wouldn’t they have some sort of scaffolding or elevator system they could use to reach the top and just literally climb out if they wanted to leave that badly?? Had Alterna existed for so long that the technology used to create it was lost to time (seeing as it’s implied that Alterna was destroyed by its SECOND generation, I doubt it)...?? Or, did the writers suddenly realize that coming up with pseudo-scientific lore that explains why inkfishes resemble humanity is wholly unnecessary and adds nothing to the themes of Splatoon…but it was too late to rework the concept, so they just finished off the story with whatever-the-heck and called it a day. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I guess we’ll never know...

Anyway, my version of Alterna’s backstory starts with a similar premise: humans invented crystal thingies that can manifest people’s desires and whatnot…but this alone caused conflict that eventually doomed Alterna. People began to make their own interpretations of other people’s desires, judging and condemning them for how they manifested. They began treating the crystals’ reflections as compulsory measures of morality and worth, rather than simple expressions of the human heart that exist outside of a good/bad binary. Alterna’s leaders envisioned themselves creating a society of ‘pure truth’, free from the destructive power of deceit and subterfuge…all the while ignoring the destructive power of paranoia and exclusion that they immersed themselves in.

Exclusion escalated to oppression, which eventually spawned rebellion: plans were made to create a rocket that would allow a select group of ‘undesirables’ to escape Alterna for the surface world, destroying the integrity of their safe haven in the process. Despite not knowing what was waiting for them out there, they were willing to take the risk in the name of freedom. Eventually, this secret plan was revealed to the public, resulting in Alterna’s first and last civil war. As the Alternans began to fight and kill each other, the crystals were overwhelmed with the unprecedented ferocity of their clashing desires-- “a violent and terrible chain reaction ensued”, and the energy within them exploded outward. The sky dome, still filled with the beautiful blue of the peoples’ wishes for peace and happiness, came crumbling down, raining fire and shrapnel upon Alterna. The still-poisoned air of the outside world flowed freely into the cavern, ensuring the eventual death of anyone who might have survived.

…Then the crystals fell in the ocean, the sea creatures were imbued with human hopes and dreams, yadda yadda, all that’s basically the same as the canon too. And although I still think it’s unneeded (the mere concept of a bygone humanity in Splatoon carries plenty of weight without all this “lore”, imo), at least now the story isn’t stupid!

It speaks to the way humans actually treat each other, and blames their downfall on their long-established bad habits of cruelty and callousness, rather than morally-neutral traits like ambition and pursuit of the unknown (I would never have expected “curiosity killed the cat” as the lesson of the day from Splatoon, of all franchises. o_O This IS the same game that celebrates individual expression and forging your own path, right…?)

Anyway…I’m gonna be using elements of this rewritten backstory and the theme of “manifesting desires” to flesh out the final boss encounter and Agent 3’s subtle character arc. So please look forward to that~

Thoughts and Theories on Pokemon Legends Z-A

With Pokemon Legends Z-A being very different from Legends Arceus, I wanted to figure out what all the differences we know so far are, and what similarities there were to connect the two as "Legends" games.

So here are all the big similarities and differences with a pinch of speculation and a dash of slight TeraLeak info!

Differences between PLA and PLZA:

Pokemon may no longer be able to kill you.

It’s a modern world- you can actually fight trainers, and many different kinds! With this extra source of Exp and gameplay, will there be less focus on mass catching and research tasks?

To build on this, the “boss fights” will likely no longer be noble Pokemon, or not even singular Pokemon at all. Instead, they will likely take the form of trainer battles. Not Gym Leaders, as that would undermine Clemont’s job. Instead, they may be major city figures who use Megas, whom you must recruit to give you access in developing the rest of the city.

Less focus on crafting, maybe more focus on money and business-building? Dex completion will likely still contribute to earning funds in some way, though.

The cast can’t be ancestors anymore- instead we get timeskip designs to show off. Most likely the residents of Lumiose. Clemont, Bonnie, Emma. Maybe other Kalos residents like Xerosic, Sycamore, Sina, and Dexio. Hopefully even Calem and Serena!

Maybe the Fallers subplot will continue, maybe not. Maybe depressed Emmet will be here.

While regional variants may still be around, there will likely be less focus on them thanks to the return of Megas.

To help us estimate how many new Megas there may be, there were 28 Megas in XY. 18 Megas in ORAS. 18 Alolan Forms. 20 Galarian Forms. 16 Hisuian Forms. 4 Paldean Forms. 22 Paradoxes (Counting Koraidon & Miraidon)

With less focus on the wilderness, Ride Pokemon may have a reduced role (Cabs and Gogoat could return) and parkour combined with Rotom Phone upgrades will likely further replace Ride Pokemon.

With Megas returning, this could mean the potential return of abilities and held items. This is not a guarantee, though. Megas have appeared in many other games that lacked either abilities or held Mega Stones, including Let’s Go, Pokemon Go, Mystery Dungeon DX, Shuffle, Smash Bros, MastersEX, and more.

Most notably, you are bound to one city instead of a whole region.

The urban environment means we could get complex new indoor areas for the first time since USUM in 2017 (If you don’t count Let’s Go and BDSP as remakes)

So, what IS a Legends game?

Similarities between PLA and PLZA:

You return to an older Pokemon region at a different point in time compared to the original games (Past/Future). As opposed to remakes, which re-tell the events of the original games.

The starters are a mixed assortment of previous starters (likely) with new forms for their final stages.

You are not taking the Pokemon League challenge in any way. Instead, you are building up a civilisation (Jubilife Village/Lumiose City)

Heavy theming on the balance between humanity and nature. PLA is about urbanizing and colonizing a wilderness, and PLZA is about re-introducing nature to a developed city.

“Drive by” catching is a thing, where you can throw Pokeballs at Pokemon without engaging in a battle screen to fight them.

The battles themselves diverge from the typical turn-based format of the mainline games.

While you are not able to explore the whole region (Floaroma, Eterna, Canalave, and its islands aren’t in PLA), what you can explore is divided into five different roamable areas, unlocked as you progress through the story.

A marketable appeal in seeing a region and its characters in a different time (Ancestors in PLA and timeskip designs in PLZA)

A marketable appeal in introducing new forms for existing Pokemon and (likely) even a small handful of new Pokemon!

Sidequests given to you by townsfolk help flesh out the world and its people.

No version exclusives, and story focus on a Trio master legendary/mythical which didn’t have its own game before.

One of the things that's happened to me in recent years is I've moved from exclusively Dreamcast SA1 stuff to working more with the PC version, since we have easier access to its code.

Of course, that doesn't mean if there's obvious display errors I don't check DC if I'm able to, nor does it mean I can't look at DC's code (But it's more annoying, because you can only generate pseudocode in Ghidra, which turns any operation with floats into 20 unreadable lines)

One of the reasons I originally stuck to DC was that it was back during the period that version was kind of forgotten about - even the earliest discovered unused objects (Lost World switch) only had screenshots in DX, where they weren't drawn correctly.

So, with all the posts I've been typing up so far have been mainly using PC's visuals and addresses. I'm thinking of possibly posting one of them early to show what type of thing I'm aiming to put on this blog.
