Run-DMC featuring Aerosmith - Walk This Way 1986
"Walk This Way" is a song by the American rockband Aerosmith. Written by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, the song was originally released as the second single from the album Toys in the Attic (1975). It peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1977, part of a string of successful hit singles for the band in the 1970s.
In 1986, the hip hop group Run-DMC covered "Walk This Way" in collaboration with Aerosmith, and it became a touchstone for the new musical subgenre of rap rock, or the melding of rock and hip hop.
This version of the song charted higher on the Billboard Hot 100 than the original, peaking at number 4, becoming Run-DMC's biggest hit. It was also the first hip hop single to reach the top five on the Billboard charts, as well as one of the first big hip hop singles in the UK, peaking at number 8. It won both groups a Soul Train Music Award for Best Rap Single in 1987. Raising Hell was nominated for a Grammy Award, making Run-DMC the first hip hop act to receive a nomination. In 2017, it was inducted into the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or artistically significant".
Both versions of "Walk This Way" are in the Grammy Hall of Fame.
The 1986 video for "Walk This Way" symbolically places Aerosmith and Run-DMC in a musical duel in neighbouring studios before Steven Tyler literally breaks through the wall that separates them. The video segues to the bands' joint performance on stage. The highly popular result was the first hip hop hybrid video played in heavy rotation on MTV, and is regarded as a classic.
"Walk This Way" received a total of 68,3% yes votes! Previous Aerosmith polls: #84 "Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)".

how accessible is ultrakill for someone not terribly good at videogames? because it looks like it fucks severely but I generally have a pretty bad time with games that require super quick reflexes... are there difficulty settings or is it like, go all in all the time?
I'm glad you asked, as this is something I've wanted to post about for a while.
While Ultrakill's default is pretty difficult (it's heavily inspired by DMC after all, which is incredibly difficult to actually get good at) There's actually quite a lot of accessibility settings you can tweak to make the game perfectly playable to even new time gamers.
First off there's the Difficulty Settings: Harmless, Lenient, Standard, and Violence.
Harmless gives you double the health (200 instead of 100) and massively slows down enemy attacks to the point where even a very slow reflex should let you get out of the way. It also disables special moves on some bosses and special enemies.
Lenient's a bump up in difficulty where you got standard health and enemies will actually try to hit you now, but they're still slow and some enemies will still take it easy on you.
Standard is standard everything (obviously). Enemies are moving at normal speed, they got all their attacks, and theyll actually do a decent job of killing you.
Violence is sped up. Enemies move much faster, are more aggressive, and even gain new behaviors (like rage modes, modified special attacks, etc) to make it the hardest mode.
Apart from the difficulty settings, Ultrakill has 3 layers of assists: Minor Assists, Major Assists, and Cheats.
Minor Assists can be turned on and used without penalties. These are usually stuff like " turn on enemy silhouettes" so you can always see enemies better, but very notably, Minor Assists includes Auto-Aim, and a bar from 0% to Fullscreen. This means that you can set an aim assist from minorly helping you lock on to targets if your mouse drifts close, to covering the entire screen, perfectly shooting targets with 100% accuracy regardless of your aim. This can be done without any penalties whatsoever, meaning you can equip a full aim bot all you like.
Major Assists are settings that mess harder with the game balance. You can set how much damage you take (even move it down to 0% to make you invincible!), set the Game Speed (100% is normal, 50% means everything moves at half speed), and other random useful bits like enabling infinite stamina or disabling weapon freshness (basically, the game lowers your style if you constantly stick to just one weapon, this setting can disable that). While you can finish stages this way and get scored, using Major Assists disables getting P (perfect) ranks on stages. This is notable, because P ranking all the stages is how you unlock the secret superbosses. You'll have to learn how to beat stages with just minor assists if you want to meet these.
Cheats are cheat settings that are less about helping you beat the game and more for the developers to test stuff. This gives you access to things like spawning specific enemies, blinding all enemies so they stand still, making enemies invincible, that sort of stuff, so you really don't need these if you're just after playing the game, since Major Assists can literally make you invincible. However, it can be fun to turn on certain cheats like disabling weapon cooldowns or despawning all enemies on the map so you can freely explore it, just note that these sometimes break the game. To activate cheats, enter the Konami code (up up down down left right left right B A). If you play a stage with cheats activated, you get NO SCORE for a stage.
If you find the game's rapid pace and aggressive gameplay intimidating, you can go through the game on one of the lower difficulties with Major Assists turned on to reduce the damage you gain, and once you're confident you know a stage inside and out, clear it again with only auto-aim from Minor Assists turned on to get the P rank if you really wish to fight the superbosses.
Ultrakill is all about playing as stylishly as possible, but what that actually means can be entirely defined by you! Slow down the game speed, reduce damage taken, bring along a teeny tiny aim assist or go full aimbot with every weapon, you can tweak it exactly how you want!
And if you ever want to push yourself on certain skills (maybe fighting certain enemies or movement techniques), the game also has a Sandbox mode where you can place whatever stage objects, hazards, and enemies you like to practice on. I like to spend time in the sandbox learning the exact parry timings on different enemy attacks, as well as experimenting with different ways to approach them!

Can you write a reader who is a jazz singer with the DMC men?
Tumblr media
my main inspiration for this headcanon is the ‘Stay High’ cover by Haley Reinhart in the style of 1930’s vintage jazz: https://youtu.be/7hHZnvjCbVw?si=EnbZch_hwT4B-hi1
Maybe it’s the weekend when the gang decided to hang out at a local pub but since it was closed due to maintenance reasons, they decided to hang out at a random jazz bar instead. Turns out, it’s much better than they expected, it’s cozy; the drinks are delicious; the vibes are immaculate but most importantly, the jazz singer is devilishly talented with the way her singing had managed to bewitch everyone’s heart and soul. It doesn’t help when she’s quite a looker as well
Tumblr media
Sure!
Sparda boys + V x Jazz Singer!Reader headcannons
¤ Dante ¤
-Dante was just chilling at this new bar that opened up, not expecting much, just some mediocre drinks.
-Then a song began to play and singer had one of the prettiest, sultry voices he'd ever heard.
-Dante was absorbed in your singing, and when the song eventually stopped, he had to admit, he was disappointed.
-He'd heard plenty of talented singers in his lifetime, sure, but you could beat them all any day.
-He found himself returning to that pub several times a week, not for the drinks, as the others at Devil May Cry might assume, but for you.
-When he'll actually get up and talk to you is a mystery, though.
■ Vergil ■
-Vergil didn't want to go to that bar, initially, but he let everyone drag him along because secretly he wants to spend time with them.
-He was sitting awkwardly in the corner like the dork he was, until he heard a new song began to play and this lovely voice start singing.
-He was completely lost in your singing, unable to concentrate on his book, forgetting that he was sitting next to other people, and for a moment, looked up from his poetry to see the face of this gorgeous singer.
-He'd never seen a more beautiful woman in his life. Standing up there, illuminated by the dim bar lights, you looked like an angel.
-Vergil really wanted to introduce himself because if he didn't, you might disappear forever, but he was just so internally nervous, he couldn't bring himself to do it.
-With some nudging from Dante the others, he managed to MOTIVATE himself enough to walk up there and talk to you. He ended up chatting with you for about 15 minutes before walking away with an ego boost and your phone number written on paper in his pocket.
□ Nero □
-Nero was supposed to just be going out for a night with his dad and uncle, not to fall in love.
-But here he was, sitting against the counter of a bar, some lame-tasting drink in his hands, condensation dripping down the sides of the glass as he stared languidly at the stage.
-And there you were, in your lovely white dress, belting out lyrics Nero wasn't really paying attention to. Your voice was all he needed to focus on, all he would ever focus on, if given the chance.
-Dante saw him ready to fall asleep thanks to your singing and decided to punch Nero in the shoulder to make sure he didn't fall asleep. Then he urged him to go introduce himself before it was too late.
-Nero is far too introverted to care; he doesn't have to talk to you to enjoy your beautiful singing voice, so he tells Dante to leave him the F alone.
-Nero keeps coming back to that bar. You've see him so many times, he might as well live there. Perhaps you will be the one to introduce yourself first.
● V ●
-V decided it would be a good idea to walk around and stretch his legs for a bit, and ended up venturing into a pub.
-V isn't one to drink, but after noticing the menu offered cheaply priced tea, he decided it wouldn't hurt to sit and relax a while.
-He watched several shows and listened to a few live songs, but none of them could compare to the splendor that was your singing.
-After hearing you for the first time, V's mind was absolutely blown. You sounded like an angel, a true celestial being descended from heaven to bless his ears.
-V relished the moment; the song had served to inspire him to wrote poetry, right there in the bar.
-While he might never go and introduce himself, but he will keep returning to this bar, just to hear you sing.

I think that if any DMC game is adapted into a musical it should be DMC 3, my second choice being 5, third being 4, fourth being 1, last being 2.
You're absolutely correct. Ideally all of them would have a musical adaptation, but this would be my priority preference as well.
DMC3- the brother vs brother, the Arkham vs Jester. Both great opportunities for harmonies, leitmotifs, and reprisals. Plus it's the fandom favorite, so it's the obvious choice.
And can you imagine this being put into song? (chefs kiss)
Dante: We are the sons of Sparda, and within each of us flows his blood, but more importantly, his SOUL! And now, my soul is saying that it wants to stop you! Vergil:(evil laugh) Unfortunately, our souls are at odds, brother. I need more power!
DMC5- also a great choice, especially with the nonlinear storytelling. And having the characters sing songs that reference their battle themes? Oh that'd be so good. And seeing a stage actor portray crusty Vergil, Urizen, and Complete Vergil would be a real treat! Also seeing how they'd do Griffon, Shadow, and Nightmare. Perhaps puppet type performances for the two smaller familiars, and a projection of Nightmare's silhouette for a really intense V battle?
Dante's dance could turn into a whole song and dance number, and they could get really creative with Nico and her van!
ALSO WE COULD HAVE KYRIE
DMC4- the fourth game is weak in some aspects, but it absolutely has an aesthetic. I feel like plays have certain background elements that are permanent, and the architecture of Fortuna with stained glass and religious themes would be great for this. Could be a great opportunity to incorporate some of the 4Novel. (Dante trying on hats scene!!!)
Opening the show with Kyrie's performance with us as the audience in the Sparda Church would be really great! I think Credo could have a really great song as well.
DMC1- Honestly I think you could make a great musical out of this one too! The moodiness of the setting and the drama of the story could make for a great performance. Especially the Nelo Angelo fights! They could really punch us in the gut with the great tragedy of Dante killing Vergil. The mystery, betrayal, and redemption of Trish as well!
DMC2- it's The Room With The Pattern and that's it /j

For the DMC reboot:
This might work better before they took down Mundus, and of course the twins would have to know one another better for this to actually work, but:
Dante switching places with Vergil for a day or two because Reasons and being shocked and probably more than a little envious of the sheer contrast. Not even just in how much more money Vergil has than him (tho Dante IS jealous of that; Vergil shows Dante how much he makes and how much Vergil has in his bank account and Dante's brain just kinda stops working for a few seconds, trying to process how big the numbers are), but in how people treat Dante-as-Vergil, compared to how they treat Dante-as-himself. Because yeah, some of it is down to the way Dante acts when he's being himself, and Dante knows this (he just doesn't really know how to be anything different/better, or if its even worth the effort- or if he'll even live long enough for it to matter)... but that's not ALL it is.
The money and status Vergil has helps, that's true, but even just. Being able to walk into a fucking room, say what (you're pretending) your name is, and not have demons or demon collaborators drag you into Limbo or have people otherwise hate and fear you as some monster, and/or treat you like they can tell you're "worthless gutter trash" just by looking at you is... Something. It sure is something.
Idk. I just think it'd be a fun concept to play around with. Especially if Vergil made himself look like Dante and spent the day (or week- however long this takes) running around fighting demons and dodging demon collaborators and probably living in shitty hotels or sleeping on the streets (if he really had to), too, just to really sell whatever ruse they're trying to pull here.
Hopefully this would bring the twins closer together, but I could see it causing problems between the two, too. Which hopefully they could work out, but still. Idk, I just think it'd be Neat.
Side note: They'd probably have to switch swords to make it REALLY convincing, so that could be fun too.
I do think the idea of the twins swapping would be interesting and possibly quite silly!! And it'd give them insight to each others lives!
However I don't know how convincing they'd be asdfghjk they are identical twins in the reboot as far but Kat would 100 percent figure this out immediately upon seeing one of them, which in itself is also very funny asdfghjkl like, beyond the fact Vergil in the reboot is just so insanely pale and Dante is not, it'd take so much work for them to get each others mannerisms down and they might be able to fool others at the Order but definitely not Kat. I can see her walking in on Dante pretending to be Vergil and just immediately like 'ok, where is Vergil, what are you two doing?' to which Dante is going to try and salvage this and fail spectacularly because Kat is not buying his Vergil act, especially now that he's talking asdfghjk I love this concept. I tend to imagine they all didn't leave the Order much at the Dante stage of the plan, but they'd definitely be more convincing around strangers then in the Order.
Flip side of this is also I can see Dante suggesting this for funsies and Vergil just absolutely declining, he does not want to live in Dante's life asdfghjk he is not built to be around dirt he will cry.
If he were to take him up on it though and had to live parts of Dante's life, I definitely think he'd be woefully ill prepared for that. Which might bring him a little more understanding as to why Dante is the way he is, but I do think it might further Dante's resentment towards Vergil because he is definitely just very jealous of how easy Vergil's life has been this whole time.
I also propose a funny alternative: which is Dante wandering around the Order pretending to be Vergil while Vergil is unaware as part snooping mission (he's trying to figure out information on the Order and his brother and Kat and if he can trust any of this) and part just for funsies to see what happens. Some of the newer members are buying it, none of the older ones are, he went on a caper to steal Vergil's clothes from his closet and everything, he acquired a wig, eventually Kat and Vergil catch wind of this and it ends with Dante, in full Vergil cosplay, in Vergil's office while Kat and Vergil are just like ???

Spoilers for God Of War Ragnarök and its DLC, Valhalla, below.
I've considered before that of everyone in DMC, Vergil would fit in the best for a God Of War crossover. Not just because his shunning of modern weaponry would make him the least strange to the GoW cast, but also because he and Kratos have a lot in common. They're both extremely powerful individuals who've indirectly caused the deaths of countless innocent people due to a selfish quest, for power and revenge respectively.
The recent DLC has me thinking of this again. Given Týr's generally good nature, it wouldn't be so strange for him to reach out to a stranger from an unfamiliar realm and help him master himself with the aid of Valhalla.
The logistics of it are another matter. I think if the DMC universe even existed within GoW's multiverse sort-of-deal, I'd more easily imagine Sparda's conflict with Mundus being contemporary with the events of the GoW games than anything involving Dante and company, but that's beside the point.
Of course, Valhalla would look very different to Vergil than it did to Kratos. For the latter, it took the form of the nine realms he now calls home, then later the homeland he left behind. Like Kratos, Vergil would probably see places relevant to his own life: his childhood home, Fortuna, the Temen-Ni-Gru, the Underworld, Mallet Island, Redgrave City, and the Qliphoth.
Valhalla may take on a more Norse appearance when Vergil fights enemies chosen by Valhalla rather than ones from his own memories. Speaking of whom, those would definitely include Beowulf, Arkham (in some form), Mundus, Nidhog (not to be confused with the similarly named creature in Ragnarök), Elder Geryon Knight, and Dante. Lady and Trish could appear as well, since he fought them when he was Urizen, and perhaps Nero would too. Of course, Týr would want a piece of Vergil as well, and due to his longer life and greater experience, would probably give Vergil a significant challenge.
I'm certain Malphas would also appear in some way, but not necessarily as a boss. She was hostile toward V, but she served Urizen, so her role may not be entirely hostile. Speaking of allies, I'd imagine Griffon, Shadow, Nightmare, and perhaps even Phantom would appear for similar reasons. Their status as memories alone may be ambiguous, since they originated from Vergil's memories to begin with. His time in Valhalla may present an opportunity to really process said memories (as opposed to the demonic manifestations of them being murdered in a scene Vergil isn't even in 😒).
Also like Kratos, I imagine Vergil's journey would culminate in a confrontation with himself. But while Kratos only had one stage of his life to confront, Vergil has worn many hats. His younger self who joined Arkham to open a portal to the Underworld and claim Sparda's power, the black knight who completely lost his free will, the demon king who had completely given up his humanity, and the fragile human who risked it all to right his wrong. Plus, Kratos had already come a long way by the beginning of the DLC, while Vergil has only just realized that maybe jeopardizing innocent lives in the pursuit of power isn't such a good idea. Týr has his work cut out for him.
I've also been thinking about how Vergil would play in a God Of War game, and I think his moveset would translate rather well.
I think of all the elements in the game, Yamato's would be Bifröst. The purple-blue color fits better than any other, and the energy's association with realm travel could be connected to Yamato's portal-opening powers. It's basic attacks would apply Bifröst status, which can then be detonated with a Judgement Cut (probably done by pressing the triangle button).
Given Judgement Cut being on triangle, and Beowulf having no ranged abilities at all (save for Dante's fireball from DMC3), it's hard to imagine what Vergil's ranged attacks would be. Summoned Swords would make sense, but I think those would be better placed on the square button, like Atreus's arrows, because they're meant to be used without interrupting Vergil's animations. I also think moves like Drive and Round Trip would work better as Runic Attacks. So, I think it would be best to emphasize Vergil's skills as a close-ranged fighter, and use the ranged controls to implement his teleportation abilities.
As for Beowulf, light is an element the player can use in God Of War (2018), as it's the first arrow element Atreus gets. And much like Kratos's bare-handed attacks, they are useful for applying Stun status, so that's likely what Beowulf would do to. Also, some enemies who wield light can use it to temporarily "blind" Kratos, so maybe Beowulf can do something similar to enemies.
If Kratos deals damage while avoiding hits for long enough, he can activate Permafrost, Immolation, or Malestrom by pressing L1 and triangle, buffing the melee attacks of his currently equipped weapon. I think Vergil would use Judgement Cut End in place of this, because avoiding damage is precisely the prerequisite to use that move in DMC.
On a final note, I think it would be cool if Vergil's stun grabs took inspiration from V's finishing moves.

Dragon age and/or DMC for the fandom ask 👀
thank youuu nes <3 i'll answer for both
dragon age:
The first character I first fell in love with: cullen since inq was the first one i played🚶🚶🚶 quickly followed by josie and dorian
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: fenris. i disagree with so much of what he believes but i find him so interesting regardless. i love his personality and dry-ish humor
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: solas... he's an interesting character but he just doesn't do it for me, personally
The character I love that everyone else hates: sera, u will always be famous to me. i HAAATE her writer but i love her personality and i think she's so fun.
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: cullen ‼️ i fell out of love pretty quick after played the first two games and understood everything better 😭
The character I would totally smooch: GAHHHH. okay.. gun to my head, i would say anders. but josie is a close second
The character I’d want to be like: shale. let me be a genderless golem pls
The character I’d slap: cullen, again. also solas. and then loghain. and then rendon howe. and then (i'm dragged off stage)
A pairing that I love: i think meribela is cute :)
A pairing that I despise: wouldn't say i despise any pairing but i don't rly like adoribull, a lot of it just doesn't make sense to me. and also fenders, not into enemies to lovers and i think they work better as friends narratively.
devil may cry:
The first character I first fell in love with: dante :) still my fave
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: nero! i didn't rly have strong feelings abt him initially but the more played, the more i ended up really liking him. playing 4 kinda solidified that.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: uhhhhh, the closest answer i have is vergil, i guess. i don't dislike him by any means but i don't like him as much as a lot of the fandom seems to.
The character I love that everyone else hates: i really can't think of one that's like widely hated that i like?
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: i've been pretty consistent with my character opinions for the a long time now so idk!
The character I would totally smooch: dante 😭🙏 pls give me one chance
The character I’d want to be like: trish but mostly bc i want cool electricity and shapeshifting powers
The character I’d slap: vergil 🫶
A pairing that I love: lady/trish is canon 2 me
A pairing that I despise: dante/trish. for obvious reasons methinks

Devil May Cry Review
Last year, I adopted my little PS2 from a Value Village. I lovingly took it home, gave it a gentle bath, and spent at least a dozen hours carefully swabbing it's insides of dust. All this, so I can get the experience of playing popular and longstanding game franchises, like God of War, and Metal Gear Solid, where they began. The things we do for love, I guess.
Tumblr media
Since then, I've been on a bit of a side-quest in life, sort of. A quest to discover why popular pieces of media got so popular, by experiencing them first-hand. I have this drive to learn about what is beloved, to join in the fun of fandom with others, and so when I saw a lot of fanart of white haired brothers with magic swords, I got curious. One thing led to another, and after many, many hours, I have some thoughts.
Tumblr media
Devil May Cry, for the PS2, is a very interesting case. For one, its the accidental sister to Resident Evil, as it was originally intended to be the third installment in that franchise during development. Yet the two could not be more different, in terms of gameplay style, visuals, and execution as a whole.
Tumblr media
Where Resident Evil is all about forcing the player into difficult situations , Devil May Cry feels a little more lax. Resident Evil makes the player slowly take in the atmosphere, learn about the lore, and use their knowledge of the map to their advantage, while Devil May Cry prioritizes snappy combat over exploration and puzzle-solving.
Tumblr media
The focus on combat is what everything in DMC revolves around, for better or for worse. There's a variety of visually interesting moves you can pull off, and more to unlock by trading in currency gotten by killing enemy monsters. More upgrades means more cool moves, means more interesting combat, and more ways to tackle bosses.
Tumblr media
At times, though, the complexity of the combat system left me feeling overwhelmed. This is one of the few games where I had to read the manual in order to play, as there isn't any tutorial, and combat can be punishing in early stages if you aren't fully familiar with Dante's moves.
Tumblr media
Even after learning the ins and outs of the controls and combat, I still got my ass handed to me by the first boss, and every one after that. Each one felt like a massive hurdle, and forced me to really learn how they worked in order to even stand a chance. In the moment, I was frustrated, but looking back now, I haven't had to work this hard with a boss in years. Spending hours sitting on my couch, going over the attack patterns, it was almost meditative (if not for the occasional shouts of expletives here and there on my part).
Tumblr media
Devil May Cry, as a whole, isn't incredibly difficult, as long as you know what you're doing. The game is about figuring out your enemies' weaknesses and the best ways to exploit them, not just rushing in and hoping you'll live. Figuring this out is the first challenge, the second is the underwater controls.
Tumblr media
Apart from gameplay itself, DMC is pretty interesting. The gothic architecture is a bit of a far cry from Resident Evil, but carries over it's grim tone and atmosphere. Colors are muted, music is oppressive and heavy, and everything lends to this feeling of grandness and fantasy. It really makes the player character stand out, which is great when you're getting ambushed by ice lizards, or something equally monstrous, in one of the many grand halls.
Tumblr media
This review also wouldn't be complete without talking about the main character, who is a delight to be around. Honestly, Dante is the reason I picked up this game, and the reason I kept coming back to it, even after countless GAME OVER's. His snarky attitude, stylish coat, and cockiness make him a fun character to see interact with others and his surroundings, and really help him stand out from the holier-than-thou demons he faces. He's always got something to say, isn't afraid to speak his mind, and just wants to have fun, and really, who can blame him?
Tumblr media
The story of the game, though, left a bit to be desired. Yes, its epic, and gets better in the second half of the game, but for a while, the game felt aimless. Why do I need to get these magic items, to unlock these doors, to do these tasks the game sets as mission objectives? In most games, they usually directly tie into what the player character is doing, and help facilitate a progression of story. For example, when Jill finds Richard in RE1, and has to get him an antidote before he dies, its not just a fetch quest; it teases the snake boss, establishes Richard as a character in the game's world, and depending on whether or not you save him, it affects future gameplay.
Tumblr media
In DMC, though, each mission feels like homework, an assignment to do before a deadline or else. Sure, its a good way to show players the next objective, and as a neurodivergent person I love having clear and concise instructions, but it kills the mood. I never felt like I was exploring the castle, discovering new things and furthering the plot. It felt like I had a to-do list from the game devs, full of tasks that rarely were related to the plot, and usually just meant 'go here, get the thing, bring it somewhere else'. It would've been nice if the quests explicitly furthered the plot, but at least they told me where to go.
Tumblr media
Don't get me wrong: I don't hate this game. I actually liked it, but there were lots of issues I had with it that soured my experience. Unforgiving bosses, overly complicated controls, and a lack of story immersion made me feel like this game was an experiment with this style of gameplay on Capcom's part. If this had a bit more polish, or maybe a tutorial, I might try playing on a higher difficulty. For now, though, I'm excited to see what's new in the sequel. I've heard its... rather infamous. Exciting.

March is here. I'm putting the Gigapets Tech T-Rex away.
He was fun. But still very basic. Maybe it's my bias talking because I love dinos, but I do feel like it was less basic than the puppy. More animations, and one more mini game, plus a more clear visual change when it became an adult. So I still love this guy and i'll run him again in the future.
Tamagotchi 1997 is probably getting put away, I barely took care of it, and left it paused. It's still in baby 2 stage even though I ran it early on in the month. I think I just need to be honest with myself and only run one virtual pet for a while, because my virtual pet mood is starting to wane a little.
I always want one digimon going so I'm debating about keeping my Digimon X3 out or swapping it with something else, at this point i've run all my Digimon v-pets, now i'm just playing a waiting game for pendulum color.
Those bastards better not announce the PenC wave 2 before they get here like they did when I was still waiting for my DMC wave 2 to arrive. It's been a horrible financial month for me, I want to recover a little.

BAD BUDDY FILMING LOCATIONS 8
This post is a continuation of my seven previous ones on filming locations for Bad Buddy (linked here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6 and Part 7). This instalment focuses on the scenes that were shot at the Digital Multimedia Complex, Building 15 of Rangsit University (RSU).

I didn't realize it at first, but this building was used a lot in Bad Buddy. For example, scenes at the SouthTechnology Auditorium were in reality filmed at the main auditorium of the DMC:

If this auditorium looks familiar, you may be recognizing it from its time on SOTUS – it was the venue for the Freshy Night Star and Moon Contest in that granddaddy BL series (and can be seen on YouTube at Ep.5 [1I4] 6.14, linked here).
In Bad Buddy this auditorium was the setting for many scenes:
Toto briefing the Architecture students on plans for the musical – Ep.7 [1I4] 8.50;
Pran getting a gift of food from Pat (via food delivery) – Ep.7 [2/4] 3.15;
The musical audition process – Ep.7 [2/4] 13.25 and Ep.7 [3I4] 1.07;
Pa turning up with Pat's drumsticks – Ep.7 [3I4] 1.38 (significance of this explained here);
Rehearsals – Ep.7 [3I4] 6.11, Ep.7 [4/4] 0.22, Ep.8 [1I4] 6.53; Ep.8 [2/4] 8.15; Ep.8 [4/4] 0.24;
Pran exploding at Chart – Ep.7 [4/4] 1.11;
Pat taking on the role of Riam to save the play (and his beloved's ass) – Ep.7 [4/4] 4.26;
PatPran's backstage argument, followed by Pat's shirtless pleading performance on the ranat ek, their reconciliation behind the scenes, and of course the curtain drop – all starting from Ep.8 [4/4] 1.37;
Wai's control room revenge – Ep.9 [1I4] 1.47; and
The final curtain call for the play (Ep.9 [1I4] 6.24).

(above) Pat seated on the raised edge of the stage at Ep.8 [4/4] 3.22; the name of his university (South Technology) is just visible on the flyer he is holding
Corroborating details are: the two-toned, staggered and crenellated relief of the back wall, the semi-circular stage with its raised edge, and the rectangular panels on the timber-laminated front of that apron.
Tumblr media
(above left) This image dated 21 November 2021 is from a photo taken within the control room by Art Chindapol and posted to Facebook, linked here; (above right) this is from BBS Ep.8 [4/4] 10.24 – the window frame and the vertical ribs above the window (which are an acoustic wall treatment to attenuate reverberation), as well as the back wall of the stage are all a match; this auditorium doesn't look like it has real flying facilities or theater curtains, so Bad Buddy's red curtain drop was all artifice (Wai couldn't have made that curtain fall from the control room)
Another location in Bad Buddy where a lot of scenes were filmed is the atrium of the Digital Multimedia Complex:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(top) This image from Facebook dated 27 August 2018 (linked here) shows the atrium at the Digital Multimedia Complex; (bottom left) this image dated 31 August 2011 was taken by Dame. Multiple scenes were shot at the DMC atrium:
The Freshy Day Song Contest (starting at Ep.5 [3I4] 4.55) was staged on the lowest level, next to the multi-colored curved glass wall;
Pat's not-a-love-confession to Ink (in between staring hopeless and lovelorn at Pran, during the scene starting at Ep.5 [3I4] 9.50) was filmed at the semi-circular mezzanine above the multi-colored curved glass wall;
Spouse-material Ink stepping in to save Pa and her signature-seeking freshy compatriots from (male) senior harassment (Ep.7 [2/4] 0.18) – this took place at the bottom of the staircase between the blue feature wall (with the light gray diagonal groove lines) and the orange beech-paneled wall at the back;
Wai being lovestruck by Pa, when he bumps into her at Ep.7 [3I4] 0.20 at the same staircase, with the blue feature wall behind them;
Pran informing Pat that the role of Riam would be going to Chart, on the same staircase (Ep.7 [3I4] 3.42);
Ink's photoshoot of the Kwan-Riam musical cast (in front of the beech-paneled wall), where Pa brings her an assortment of camera lenses, and where Ink rebuffs Wai's efforts to find out more about Pa – Ep.8 [1I4] 10.59;
Ink inviting Pa to develop photos with her, and Pa discussing peer mentors with her friends over Ink's snacks (also in front of the beech-paneled wall) – Ep.10 [3I4] 11.58.

(top) Ep.5 [3I4] 12.55; (middle) Ep.5 [3I4] 6.50; (bottom) another view of the atrium space from Facebook dated 26 Jun 2022 (linked here) – the curved glass-paneled wall on the left and the hanging banners are all a match, while the mural on the right with the yellow letters spelling the the word "CREATIVE" on a dark blue background matches what we see behind Ink and Pat at Ep.5 [3I4] 6.50

The scene where Pat runs after Wai in an effort to mend their friendship (after the last performance of the Riam and Kwan musical, at Ep.9 [1I4] 7.20) was probably filmed just outside the auditorium:

The scene where Pa loses her contact lenses and is rescued by Ink (Ep.7 [1I4] 7.21) was filmed at the main entrance staircase of the Digital Multimedia Complex:

Still more Bad Buddy filming locations to come. Will be posting them in due course! 😊

Practice 1_4.2 - Inspiration

Quake
Arguably the game that gave birth to the Arena Shooter genre Quake III - Arena in particular was the first game in which I first encountered the high adrenaline playstyle. The game was sci-fi but gritty with it's hugely diverse cast of characters that gave the world so much life and implied lore. This level of creativity was also apparent in it's briliantly designed and visually oppulent maps. While it's weapon selection feels very standard, the newest entry QWuake Champions has given us more interesting instruments of death to duel with.

Unreal Tournament/Championship
In a very similar vein and in fact a direct competitor to Quake was the Unreal Tournament series. Fashioning itself on a more serious 'sports-like' take I took little interest in anything besides it's gorgeous graphics until Unreal Championship 2 introduced an even more diverse cast of characters and Melee combat that allowed you to dash through the skies, wall-jump, reflect projectiles and even execute enemies once you had locked them into a stun. This all complimented the chaotic fun perfectly.

Anarchy Reigns
A third person action brawler by prestiguous studio Platinum Games, Anarchy Reigns never got the recognition it deserved. It translated the Chaos of an Arena shooter to the genre of DMC-style character action as well as tons of cool stage hazards that could see parts of the area play host to a Boss creature or be nuked. It even featured some stages that could dynamically change, during the Match. It was a brilliant time and you never quite knew what was going to happen next.

Can you write an actress!reader with the DMC boys?
She typically plays small roles as either background character or side characters so , to the point where if she stands next to her colleagues she would get overshadowed quite literally, paparazzis would be too busy taking the other’s pictures meanwhile she just stands there awkwardly
So she decided to take on another role by auditioning to be a villain in a horror movie…and it became a massive hit. The writing, the pacing, the detailed practical effects, the tension between characters…and most importantly, how her acting skills shine through when given opportunity.
Because of how shallow her previous character was, audiences were left in awe of how dimensional her new character was and how her amazing performance had fleshed out the psychological struggle and mental anguish that the killer went through throughout the stages of her childhood and how it shaped her into a gore-crazed monster.
It’s amazingly terrifying how she can actually be, acting as a normal girl you can have a conversation with to a violent creature casually having a mental breakdown, screaming and crying violently in less than a minute, how psychotic the way she portrayed her character, etc It even made some audiences left due to how uncomfortable and disturbed they were at her (uncannily good) performance
P/S: I’m writing this as I think of Pearl (2022), The Thing (1982), Carrie (1976)
Yes, enjoy!
Sparda boys + V x Actress!Reader headcannons
¤ Dante ¤
-He was always supporting you from the very beginning, showing up on set whenever he had time to cheer you on and hand you water in between scenes.
-He didn't care that your roles were small, he knew you were an amazing actress, and if you put in the time and effort, you'd get your big break.
-When you got casted into that blockbuster horror movie he was overjoyed, hopping around and congratulating you excitedly.
-He kept rewatching your movie, amazed by how you could play a character that was so different from your own personality. He knew that was the job of an actor, but still!
-You definitely got a lot of new attention from the media because of this, and are grateful that Dante supported you. He still does, by the way, twice as hard.
■ Vergil ■
-Vergil never cared for movies until he met you. For so long, he'd seen them as nothing more than a pointless source of human entertainment, but since you seemed to be seeking a career in that field, his views changed.
-He started watching every movie you ever starred in, scanning the screen for signs of you, no matter how minor your role may have been.
-He congratulated you on your hard work, reminding you to stay MOTIVATED, and that good things will eventually come your way if you work hard enough.
-You worked hard alright, and landed an important role in a killer new horror movie that everyone praised you for. Your talent really shone through, and you were propelled to new heights, now seen as a respectable actress.
-Vergil has been watching this entire time, nodding and smiling proudly. That's his girl right there, practically getting mauled by reporters and paparazzi. That's his girl.
□ Nero □
-Nero thought it was really cool for you to be chasing your dreams and attempting to make it big in the acting world.
-He does his best to coach you when you're at home practicing your lines.
-He watches all your movies with a huge grin on his face, happily going "oh look, babe, it's you!" Whenever you show up, even if only for a second.
-Brags to Dante about how his girlfriend is the coolest, most talented actress in the world who deserves fame, fortune, and most of all, a good husband. Aka him
-Was so proud of you for landing that horror movie roll, and couldn't stop praising you, even when the reporters swarmed you, begging for your thoughts, comments, and whatnot. Honestly, Nero sounded like one of them himself.
● V ●
-V knew very little about the film industry, but judging from what you told him, making it big in this career was very difficult indeed.
-He was proud of you for your commitment and dedication to your craft, applauding you whenever you finished recording a scene. Yes he managed to sneak on set
-Tried to become your personal assistant, but the studio wouldn't hire someone who takes 45 minutes to cross the room and has 2 violent pets.
-Congratulated you when you told him you landed a major role in a popular movie and played it so well, people got chills watching your performance. After hearing this, he decided you two should watch your movie in celebration of your efforts.
-Needless to say, you were both terrified. Your portrayal of an insane murderer scared not only him, but yourself.

Devil May Cry 2 (Dante) Missions 14-18 Ending
Did you think I had forgotten?
Did you think I would ever forget?
Strap in, it’s time for the worst part of Dante’s campaign
Mission 14 is the absolute pits. It’s shit. It’s the second worst level in this game
Why is it so shit?
It wants to be an exploration focused stage: you have to find and activate 4 hidden switches in order to end the level.
Simple premise.
Totally fucked by this being DMC2
Where to begin?
How about with the fact that this level, much like all the others, looks incredibly dull and lifeless, and everywhere looks the fucking same?
Orienting yourself in this stage is beyond awful, there’s nothing interesting or memorable with its level design, there are no set pieces, you can’t move the camera on your own to look for the hidden switches meaning you’ll have to jump around every 5 seconds to see if you can get a glimpse of one, the camera continuously switches angles as you go through the level making exploration extra awkward, the enemies mess with your lock on meaning you have to beat them before hitting a switch, there’s this Silent Hill-like fog effect that makes it harder to spot things at a distance (in a level that’s all about finding 4 hidden orbs).
And the map? As you can see however from when I show it to you it doesn’t keep track of your position, simply giving you the general layout of the stage. In other words it’s practically worthless.
To all Sonic fans watching this: I would 100% much rather be playing Mad Space, because while that stage has its own problems it’s at least much more memorable in terms of design, with each planetoid having a distinct shape,it controls well enough (gravity shenanigans notwithstanding) and you have a radar. A crappy one, but it’s better than absolutely nothing.
Lost Impact is technically worse since it’s bigger, more intricate and has you hunting down way more things (in the Hero mission), but at least Shadow doesn’t move like he’s on molasses and has far snappier gun play
And you know what? At least you only really have to do the Hero mission once.
In DMC2 you’ll have to go through this stage a second time as Lucia only the locations of the switches will be different. Fuck. Off.
And the best part? This is the SECOND worst stage in the game! Lucia gets the cherry on top of this shit sunday, just you wait and see.
And at the end you fight Phantom. Y’know the first boss from DMC1, like that at random, with no explanation.
The following boss fights are either a much tankier version of the Infested Chopper in the form of Trismagia (hope you upgraded your guns) or absolute clusterfucks of enemies that pounce you without rhyme or reason as you try to take out the boss.
And then finally we end with Argosax.
The first phase is just an amalgamation of most bosses in the game (plus Griffon from DMC1 who’s just there for no reason). You stand in one angle and just keep spamming that shoot button until you either drain his GARGANTUAN health bar, or your controller fucking breaks.
The second phase is technically the closest thing to a genuine DMC boss fight in this game, as it has an actual pattern that you have to dodge because he hurts like hell.
Unfortunately since Dante’s movements are so sluggish this boss ends up being way more annoying than challenging.
And you can just whip out the Majin Devil Trigger anyway
It’s a hidden mechanic that the game never tells you about: if you activare Devil Trigger while you have only a tiny bit of health left you turn into an even more powerful demon. Not only do you do OBSCENE amounts of damage but you’re 100% invincible for the duration of the form. It’s a hidden win button that I have no shame in using here because
Fuck
this
game.
.....and now it’s time for Lucia.
sigh....
(where the fuck did Dante get that bike, he didn’t have it with him when he entered the portal?)

Jason William Mizell (January 21, 1965 – October 30, 2002), better known by his stage name Jam Master Jay, the Brooklyn born and raised, was the man behind the turntables for the rap group Run-DMC Jay may not have done much rapping or spoke as often as the other two members of the group but didn’t have to he let his work on the turntables talk for him. Jay was a skilled DJ. Jay was one of the first DJs to make it in mainstream music. He even earned a spot on Spin. Magazine’s “100 Greatest Guitarists” for his ability to rework guitar riffs. Along w being a skilled DJ, Jay was a well-rounded musician playing the bass guitar, keyboards, and drums. He is a legend in the hip-hop community and is missed, loved, and respected by family and fans.

what's your interpretation of the Agnus redux scene in dmc4 where Dante and Agnus try to out-camp each other on stage? 4 was the first dmc I ever played so I used to think Dante was just being goofy and playing with Agnus a little before the boss fight, and the writers were just having fun (this part is probably still true), but now I know more I wonder if Dante was having some kind of manic-depressive episode? (is sanity... the price to pay? for POWER??)
LOL, no, I think Dante was just being goofy that time. I also think the devs were just playing with the audience. DMC2 got a lot of flak for making Dante too serious and quiet, and so in 3 they made him the silly trash-talking counterpart to his straight-man brother, and that was a hit. They just doubled down on this in 4, probably since Nero was playing straight man in that game. Same reason we got Dante's moonwalk in 5; at that point the Ninja Theory devs on DmC had pissed off the fanbase by saying nobody wanted Dante as a "gay cowboy," so ha ha, the Capcom devs gave us a supergay dance scene with a cowboy hat, literally spotlighting Dante with rainbow lighting and special effects, just to drive the point home that yes, Virginia, this hack-and-slash game hero is very much a gay cowboy.
But despite this complete lack of subtlety in every other respect, the devs have only ever addressed Dante's depression in (relatively) subtle ways. It's not visible in his silliness, it's visible in what he doesn't do (like barely speaking in DMC2), and the silliness is a smokescreen that he uses to keep his friends from worrying about him. But for the first time in 5, we got a clear glimpse of what he's like when he's not throwing up smoke -- just sitting in the stinking dark, waiting to die -- and it ain't pretty. So I actually respect the hell out of the devs for making it explicit at last, and treating his depression realistically (if briefly).

I have a headache, bruh. I spent all day playing DMC 3 and I finally made it to mission 20 and all I gotta say is...
Stage 3 Vergil can wait tomorrow.
Also, can we all agree that Lady's father's boss fight is probably one of the worst boss fights ever? Like...even the camera work is outrageous.
