The lights were blaring. The beeping was loud to his ears. He doesn't remember what happened at the cliff...

The oversized DJ groaned in pain as he started to wake up. His vision was blurry but he could make out the shape of a heart rate monitor and an IV drip. He heard distant voices talking about him. He could make out his Nori's voice. His beloved Nori was alive.

The door creaked open and in came the doctor and Nori. The smaller octoling ran up to the bed and tightly hugs the oversized Octarian. The doctor, a colossal, aged Inkling that seems to be around the DJ's age, stared at the two Octolings. It clears their throat and spoke in a raspy voice.

"Shōgun sir..."

"Please just call me Octavio."

"My apologies. You should be lucky that you are still alive. Your significant other found you on the jagged rocks at the base of the cliff."

The DJ froze at the news. He didn't crash into the water? No wonder his chest hurt. He beckons the Inkling to come closer and it did. This Inkling reminds the Shōgun of Cuttlefish. He doesn't know if Cuttlefish is still quote on quote alive. It saddens him to think his arch nemesis is gone.

"What is your name?"

"Otsego, sir. Why did you ask?"

"Gyeh... no reason. I just want to thank you for saving my life."

The Shōgun leans back onto the soft bed, groaning in pain. He felt the sedatives kicking in. They were supposed to help with the nerve damage in his left arm. He doesn't mind. He pulled Nori onto him with great difficulty and wrapped his only arm around them. He gave Nori a peck on the cheek before taking a well deserved rest.

My friend and I started discussing what all of the members of Lab Gals + the scientists would do on a car ride/trip:

Yeva is the one driving, she is running on her insomnia, oil and 48 cups of black coffee

Nori is the car’s DJ, she is blasting nightcore all the way and either arguing or making out with Alice

Alice is at the back on the right, she is either arguing with Nori about wanting to put country music or making her pay Beau’s child support or making out with her

Beau is the passenger princess surprisingly, he is at the back in the middle seat, occasionally questioning his sanity

Amda is at the back on the left seat just looking out the window and witnessing this whole charade

Dr.Riley and Dr.Chambers are literally tied up to the roof of the car

Mitchell thankfully has privilege at the request of Yeva, he is in the trunk of the car

I’m a sucker for team nicknames that fit a theme so I’ve been thinking abt the ones the SV characters might use!

Nemona: Fruits in Spanish (Níspero the Pawmot, Tamarindo the Dudunsparce)

Arven: Food (Rockefeller the Cloyster, Guindilla the Scovillain)

Penny: Anime references (Luna the Umbreon, Mewmew the Sylveon) though she’s a little embarrassed about it and often uses alternative names when strangers are around

Rika: Breakfast Foods (Benny the Donphan, Pancake the Clodsire)

Poppy: short generic names a four year old would give (Princess the Tinkaton, Sparkles the Copperajah)

Favorite painter: Mmmf so hard to choose... I'd say either Alex Grey's mesmerizing psychedelic stuff or Zdzisław Beksiński's haunting landscapes and grotesque monsters! Quite the contrast I know haha but both are surrealists (somewhat) and I love that style the most.

Favorite poet/writer: H. P. Lovecraft (I know I know lol the man was a complete ass but damn he could write some stellar cosmic horror) and Jason Pargin (my fave book series of all time: John Dies at the End)

Favorite band: Band? Not... not DJ, right? Wait google says a band is a "group of musicians who play music together". Is two people a group? Am I overthinking this? Aaaaaa Daft Punk.

Favorite meal & drink: If it's hot out: salmon poke bowl!! With avocados and mangoes and cucumbers and nori and ginger and edamame aaaa if it's cold out: some real good ramen with eggs and seaweed and pork and bok choy and corn aaaa 🤤

Favorite outfit aesthetic/style: I'm a kandi raver at heart always, so my aesthetic is a toned-down version of that haha. I love neon colors, crazy patterns, rainbow stuff... My friends say my style is "always ready to go to EDC at a moment's notice" and, yeah, fair lmao

Favorite singer: Gotta be Lady Gaga. I mean have you heard "Edge of Glory"?? And "Sine from Above"???

Favorite item you own: Oooough I mean right now it's my matcha bubble tea squishmallow that I sleep with every night. So S Q U I S H Y. I didn't really "get" squishmallow-type plushies before getting one. I apologize, I definitely get it now LOL

so i updated my haladriel textfic erase me today (part three is on twitter) and i’d love to talk about that.

This is the wikipedia page I made for Celeborn. I really wanted him to be a mashup of Jack Antonoff and FINNEAS, which is interesting bc I am a known Celeborn hater who likes both of these producers.

Some canon references are more obvious than others. His middle name comes from his canonical Quenya name. Galadhrim Music is a reference to the elves living in Lothlorien. I wanted to make this world bigger bc touring is a huge part of the story, so Beleriand still exists here. I decided to make the Doriath family a family of politicians and civil servants bc i wanted the sort of government/leadership/public service feel but without the ickiness of actually making him nobility (though I did decide that his ancestors should still be royal). His band, Hidden Kingdom, is of course a reference to Doriath itself, and their album, The Fall, is a reference to the sacking of Menegroth.

Almost everything about Hidden Kingdom was taken from Jack Antonoff. He had a punk rock band in high school that toured using a DIY booking guide and played in anarchist bookstores. The approach to writing is heavily influenced by FINNEAS’ comments about how he writes songs for his sister, Billie Eilish, and how his acting experience helps with that.

A little easter egg here that you might catch later on in this part of the fic is that Amroth Lorien is the frontman of the supergroup Tevildo that Halbrand and Galadriel are both members of. You can expect to see a lot more about Tevildo in Part Four, but if it isn’t obvious, they are essentially intended to be the Canadian supergroup Broken Social Scene.

More easter eggs with Erase Me:

- Both Hal and Gal are openly bisexual characters here. They also are not strictly monogamous sexually, which is not a big deal here but referenced occasionally— particularly in the phone call in Part Three between H + G where it’s implied that they have history with the Loriens.

- The Soundtrack podcast was inspired by a podcast episode I heard that was a conversation between Stevie Nicks and Matty Healy. I also wanted the vibe to be very Actors on Actors. We’ll see if Galadriel makes an appearance on it in the future.

- Gal has ADHD, but I’ve never directly referenced this.

- Whispers From The Void = Crazy Days and Nights. The individual posting goes by K, any guesses as to who that is?

- Elrond is not just a music video director but a successful feature film director as well.

- Nothing is happening between Nori and Isildur, I just love fuckboy Isildur vibes.

- G’s solo music is a cross between Eloise’s album Drunk On A Flight (which is referenced frequently throughout the fic) and Phoebe Bridgers. I really imagine the stuff she’s working on now as very similar to the song Drunk On A Flight by Eloise and Moon Song by Phoebe Bridgers.

- The Dagorath Tour is partially inspired by Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

- The controversy re: G’s drumming is a reference to Meg White of The White Stripes.

- G does actually DJ as well, but more so just for fun. I imagine her as the sort of person who seems to be able to name any song three seconds into the intro.

- H is the more “serious” musician in terms of what he’ll listen to, but his formal education is lacking compared to G’s.

- “Light” is intended to be a sort of cross between Perth by Bon Iver, Something by The Beatles, and Guiding Light by Foy Vance, in terms of vibes, not necessarily sound.

- Lindalë’s sound is inspired by Silversun Pickups, Metric, The Strokes, Oh Wonder, Better Oblivion Community Center, and Arcade Fire, but with a lot of diverse influences (prog, punk, hip-hop, jazz, lounge) and they’re a little nerdy musically. They are getting into heated arguments over time signature shifts and they will defend their overuse of seventh chords to the death.

- I imagine a favorite album of G’s being Escalator Over The Hill by Carla Bley & The Jazz Composer’s Orchestra, but she also would love Ctrl by SZA, Led Zeppelin IV, and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West (though she wouldn’t listen to that anymore bc of him being awful).

- H’s music in my head I imagine as a cross between Jeff Buckley, Damien Rice, Ray LaMontagne, Iron & Wine, and Conor Oberst, with a splash of Big Thief in there. His favorite album would probably be something like Grace by Jeff Buckley or Norman Fucking Rockwell by Lana Del Rey, but he also probably loves OK Computer and In Rainbows by Radiohead and Actor by St. Vincent.

- There’s a bit where they talk on Moria Music about playing with Tevildo and that is almost entirely inspired by a video of Broken Social Scene performing Anthems for a 17 Year Old Girl where Emily Haines says “I missed my friends” at the end. I also reference that line in an instagram caption of Celeborn’s.

- They are big into psychedelics and also regularly take MDMA together.

- Galadriel has threatened divorce many times but this is the first time she’s ever actually gone ahead with it.

- Nori is constantly looking for a new job but never actually takes anything bc she feels very loyal to H + G, even though she’s overworked and underpaid lol. She is not their first assistant, but most quit pretty fast.

- Hal has a Google alert set up for G.

- The divorce announcement was inspired by a number of celebrity divorce announcements, but none quite so much as the infamous Gwyneth Paltrow & Chris Martin conscious uncoupling. Others include Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner and David Arquette & Courteney Cox — I just swapped out the band for references to their kids lol.

- The song “Palantír” is somewhat inspired by Cannibal by Marcus Mumford

Ah yes, the teenage years of Nori and Iris (My OCs).

Nori is studious and clever girl. In her teenage years, she wasn't really rushing into the relationship with the man. Her top priorities were getting good grades and finding a job. Plus she always wanted a man who would actually took his time to understand her. When it comes to her hobbies, she loved reading, sewing and cleaning.

Iris on the other hand became a cheerleader along with her cousin Tallulah. Constantly on the neverending quest to find her boyfriend and big lover of music. A DJ who would come to friend's house playing music whenever there was a party. Apart from listening to music, Iris also loved singing, dancing and going out with her friends. She would constantly drag her sister and cousin in her misadventures.

mirumo the proud papa of shuu and adoptive father, of sorts, to karren; single but unsure if ready to mingle. i'm personally open to it but i'm unclear on if it actually suits mirumo's character considering his undying love for his wife. a true wife guy for the ages! he knows of lenn and thinks of him as strange. he distrusts the ikari family

karren is not in love with shuu-- mistook her feelings of adoration and idolization as genuine romantic love. she loves shuu but not in that way because i think it's a little weird considering the circumstances ♡ anyone that is an enemy of master shuu or the tsukiyama family are enemies, no ifs ands or buts

akihiro "dating" donato (no one knows what's going on with these two old men but at least they're having fun? question mark?) and, contrary to popular belief, is alive! why? who knows! i'll think of something. one-eyed ghoulification mayhaps.

renji dating watching over uta, more or less a wandering sort that does odd jobs on the side. he's probably staying with uta somewhere and is constantly having to keep him in check but also joins in on hijinks more than he cares to admit sometimes he's just too darn tired

cool! and now for the original characters--

ren, "head" of the ikari family-- slaughtered his ex-wife, yumiko, in cold blood and fed her remains to his two sons, nori and takeshi. don't worry, he also cleaned his plate. it was satisfactory. currently married (in his heart of hearts, awww omg!) to junichi. his ward loves him because it's borderline a cult. everyone else hates him though because they're sane. it's a whole thing.

yuu "dating" furuta, frenemies (enemies mostly.) with takeshi. they're sorta kinda rivals and all of their fights end in gorefest tie single time. was part of the ccg but leaves after faking his death, primarily because he thinks the ccg are a bunch of pussies and he wants to kill ghouls as he pleases. he also eats ghouls.

yori, professional clown at your service! dating nori and wants to marry him some day. rough relationship with ren because of a violent run-in, ren nearly kills and cannibalizes him. he and renji are kind of friends, mostly because of his ties to the clowns and renji's proximity to uta.

jun, head of the miyamoto family, has been a widow for several years. he and his teenaged daughter, aimi, live alone in their well-kept mansion. his wife, airi, was murdered by ryosuke and her kakuhou made into his very own quinque. he doesn't have a lot of relationships, considering his shut-in status. he's the closest thing to a pacifist ghoul you're gonna get and simply does not fuck around and find out.

katsuro is dating takeshi and has been defected from the ccg for quite some time. he leaves as a rank 1 but, currently, could be considered an associate special class or higher nowadays. he's turned more and more into a ghoul sympathizer as the days go on, mostly because of takeshi. lost his eye in the past due to a run-in with "glasgow", aka ren. also has a prosthetic right leg born from the same incident. slightly terrified of junichi.

chiyo is yumiko's sister and is married to asuka-- they're the rich lesbian aunts everyone wants but only takeshi and nori get. hates ren's guts, tolerates junichi's presence. she's well-known in the human world as a dj, known formally as b@rracuda and frequents the night club scene both as ghoul and "human" as a regular

masao is part of the washuu clan, born into it under the designated title of "seed" but ultimately defects because of it. he's an on and off ally of goat. hates every other washuu and associate, furuta especially. has a bit of a soft spot for rize, sees her somewhat as a sister. otherwise, he's known as a brutal and aggressive ghoul known as "ogre" that is infamous for his mass killings after long lulls of silence

ryosuke is a quinx, unsure of the generation (and i canNOT bother to care right now.) currently, and is a special class investigator. killed jun's wife and claimed "her" as his quinque. he "jokes" about his frame also being her but c'mon. that's too much ghoul. regularly conflicts with jun. jun killed his own husband as revenge, quoted as, "now, be as lonely as i am." and bit off one of his ears too. has a prosthetic ear now as replacement. would kill a child if they were a ghoul, has killed a ghoul child, and will continue to do so. aimi, you're next.

lenn is a clown that works at a ghoul restaurant. he doesn't really come into contact with the rest of the clowns unless necessary due to being a bit of a "homebody" at the restaurant. he's regularly paired up with furuta, however, and they've become besties. he likes playing bait for potential victims, hence his name "catfish", and loves seeing their faces when they see him auctioning them off like cattle to other ghouls. yori thinks he's fascinating, lenn thinks yori is kind of annoying.

A shy vulnerable girl with a tragic backstory involving her being groomed and treated like garbage by people twice her age. She is susceptible to corruption.

A down bad emo boy who loves the band Moondust and wants nothing more than to make out with the members.

The Guild Of Magic

The Balance Twins (Midnight and Noon)

A pair of shapeshifting twins who lead the guild and bestow magic powers to those deemed worthy, they keep the balance of good and evil

Daughter Nature

the daughter of Mother Nature, due to pollution on earth, her body has been weakened, thus the plant chariot she rides.

Kyle Time

the son of Father Time, he carries the burden of knowing every birth and death to ever occur, every creation and every destruction.

Geoffrey

A unicorn centaur who is essentially the manager of magic, being who people report to when magic users are abusing their power, he also crafts the intricate details of each magic user's powers.

Sola

a Celestian who can control light, and as such can change the color of anything, she also crafts pure magic, as her realm naturally grows the material made for pure magic.

Malachi

a fairy who watches over the world, often helping find people who are qualified for using magic.

Mitch

a normal human, but he often gives world news to the guild, you should've seen him the fall of 2001

Legion of Evil Magic

Nightmare

a being of darkness, she was kicked from the guild for corruption, and created the legion of evil magic to spread evil to the world. She eats pure magic and turns it into dark corrupted magic

Loana

Nightmare's best friend and right hand fairy, she mainly wants to destroy and abolish magic, thinking overcorruption can destroy it.

Lucane

A dark angel who travels around worlds, giving them magic and systems that gatekeep magic, so only those he chose can have magic.

Unoel

a gross toxic monster, but not in the poison way, more in the sowing drama way, causing and enjoying when people cause drama.

Eliza

a human woman who is authoritarian, wants to control magic users, and shes also homophobic.

MoonDust

Domas

The lead vocalist, with the sexy rockstar vibe, he's cute AND sexy. It makes you wish fatphobia wasn't a thing because thats the only thing keeping him from being seen as a sex icon.

Lex

The bassist, Domas's bestie, he's shy and nerdy, probably hooked up with several men.

Meteor

the guitarist, puts up a douchey heavily tatted look but hes really just a silly guy, and despite the fact he looks like he sleeps around with groupies, he is really scared of groupies.

Kai

the drummer, also a dj. She dresses like a scenegirl and could totally bodyslam your ass, but she chooses not to.
