I thought that I finally share with you DDI fans my ToJun fankids. ToJun is the name of the pairing of Toro Inoue x Jun Mihara. 🐱🤍🩷🐰

I've came up with 3 cabbit (obvious term for fictional hybrid between a cat and a rabbit) children. Toro and Jun's 3 cabbits are fraternal TRIPLETS!

In order:

Triplet A: Hito Inoue, the first son. Name in kanji: 井上陽人 (Inoue Hito). His fur color is white like his father's. And his first name means "Sunlight, Positive Person".

Triplet B: Seiru Inoue, the second son. Name in kanji: 井上星路 (Inoue Seiru). His fur color is pink like his mother's. And his first name means "Star Road, Path".

Triplet C: Moka Inoue, the only daughter. Name in kanji: 井上桃花 (Inoue Moka). Her fur happens to be in a pale light red color (#ff7f7f). Possible fur color inherited from a grandparent either from her father's or mother's side. Also red + white = pink. And her first name means "Peach Flower, Blossom".

The Inoue Triplets all have their dad's body type while having big lop ears like their mom except fluffier and pointy. Hito and Seiru both have eyes like Toro's while Moka has Jun's eyes. Plus, they have cute fluffy cottonball tails. And of course, the 3 ToJun cabbits all have rosy cheeks.

Chapter 1:

In which Anya Antov is taken home, country roads1

Anya was well aware that most people did not regard cryptid hunting as a serious endeavor. Anya was even more aware that the few people that did regard cryptid hunting as a serious endeavor had an unfortunately large overlap with people that tended to believe that “ancient aliens” were involved in the creation of the pyramids and/or that amethyst can cure your Gout. When she had her druthers, she would largely avoid those people.

The sweet spot, in her humble opinion, were people that were like her, simultaneous enthusiasts and non-believers. She loved the “ghost hunters” that found and fixed gas leaks all while hoping that maybe this time it really is a poltergeist. She loved the “tarot readers” that were in it to get people talking about their issues rather than take advantage of (false) spirituality for people’s cash2. Most of all she loved people who, like herself, didn’t think Bigfoot was any more than a guy in a suit but thought it would be sick as HELL if they3 were more than a guy in a suit.

This was...not that easy to explain, especially when it took up so much of her time and cold hard cash4.

So she didn’t!

When asked about her job, she told the truth and said remote boring IT job.

When asked about her hobby, she said ‘extreme birdwatching5’. She did not elaborate on what made it extreme.

When asked why she wanted to interview locals (usually by said locals), she said she was doing a thesis on modern folklore across North America, specifically ones that were not considered tied to a specific culture. This was almost true. She was not doing a thesis as much as making posts on a ten year old wordpress account for all ten people that regularly followed her exploits. She neither had an anthropology degree nor could afford to pursue one.

The modern folklore thing was legitimate though.

That was her dirty secret. The term “cryptid hunter”, though succinct and, hmm, evocative6,felt wildly inaccurate. For one, she wasn’t hunting shit. She has no intentions to harm, capture, eat the meat of, or mount a trophy of any cryptid if she did, somehow, run into one. Her neck was not incredibly thick like Gaston.

She would rather work for the mob than Barbara any day.

Top Nancy Drew cosy moments (part one, probably)

(i’m using the British spelling of cosy and you will simply have to make your peace with that)

So! Recently released from tumblr jail I was looking over my posts and I had a couple of Top Creepiest Moments. Maybe one day I’ll do a part 3, I probably could! But, part of the appeal of ND for me is how comfy the games feel, too. Cosiness here refers to the peace/comfort you find in certain scenes in the games - and for me, cosiness has a lil bit of excitement in it, too. This is not presented in any sort of chronological or numerical order, just thoughts as they occur. For me this is often related to sleep and hidden places, but I’d love to hear your favourite ND cosy spots, or if you disagree with any of these!

DED - The dorm and rec room

Despite moments of terrible fear (and that creepy banging bit in the middle of the night) I actually really like the lab in this game. The rec room and the bunkbed room nostalgically feel a little like Guide Camp for me (I mean, winter Guide Camp, when we’d stay in an indoor building with bunks and sofas and Activities).

WAC - More or less the whole building, I guess

Again, we have moments of peril in this building, but I kind of love the idea of bed/study/food all being in one place (I miss dorm living sometimes...) The mild peril of having to be in bed at a certain time is fun, as is having a little tuck shop*. I also love the library so close to the bedroom - heaven!

*your Britishism of the day - "tuck shop” refers to a little shop in some kind of institution (private school, hospital, Guide camp etc) that sells cheap snacks/sweets. I’m familiar with it through Guides, I did not go to private school, do not mistake me for some private school **** lmao. Also I’m Scottish not British, this footnote is already too long

CAR - the hotel

This is one of the least interesting locations in the game but: call me boring, but I fuckin’ love a good hotel where you feel SAFE and RESTED (as long as you remember to turn your goddamn iron off). I love this room, I love ordering room service, I love those cheeseburgers and milk.

CRY - the hotel you never see

This one is kind of cheating because I’m talking about something you never see properly. Nancy is stuck in a house (it’s not really a mansion?), but Bess is back in the hotel. I’ve never been to New Orleans (hopefully soon!) but the idea of a French Quarter hotel with a balcony?? where you can go shopping??? and have a bubble bath??? and it’s raining the whole time ASMR style and also you can nip over the road and get some jambalaya/visit a curiosity shop/crash a Krewe meeting? I LOVE it. I bet this hotel had kickass pillows and a whirlpool tub.

DDI - the Hot Kettle Cafe

ooooooh this is the best. Nancy’s accommodation here sucks (head to head with Katie? COME ON) but this game is cosy and nice overall. The music is a big part of this, and I think the cosiness is at its best in the Hot Kettle Cafe. I want to rock up here, get a blueberry muffin and some clam chowder, and relax in a corner booth for a full afternoon.

SAW - Yumi’s apartment

I did list this in my scary list, and the game as a whole is terrifying. BUT HEAR ME OUT - I love Yumi saying that she loves her first taste of independence, I love the compact size of the apartment, I love us crashing in, I love the little kitchen area, and I love Yumi’s bed and her wardrobe. I wish nothing creepy happened cos this was nice!

TRT - most of the castle

My fellow gamers who love snow will immediately guess this. There’s just something magical about being snowed in. Plus a nice room, a roraring fire downstairs, and an infinite supply of chicken drumsticks? Sounds GREAT

I knew some sketchy people like Eddie in high school and they had always been awfully sweet to me (a nerd who had been afraid of getting in trouble) because I always helped them pass their math classes and gently pushed them to learn with praise and support when some teachers would dismissed them. In turn, no one could talk shit about me when they were around. So when the St*ddies are painting Eddie as some sexy sketchy dude that only sells drugs and lives on the "wrong" side of the tracks, they are missing the whole point of his character and unconsciously making assumptions about a whole group of people.

Exactly! I hate how they stereotype him. They want to “fix” him or “change” him but there’s nothing wrong with him. He is a good person, he takes people under his wing, he recognises when someone is in need and makes it his mission to make them feel better, he protects the people he loves, he died protecting Dustin.

They want to put him in a nice house and give him a ordinary job, probably in Family Video with Steve. They want to make him “normal” and “an acceptable member of society” because they can’t have a ship between a clean cut middle class boy and a trailer park trash drug dealer.
