Aston Martin DB5 Vantage Convertible (1 of 7) 
Launched in 1963, the Aston Martin DB5 represented the pinnacle of British automotive design. With a classic-yet-modern shape that hid a deceptively muscular stance, the sharply dressed grand tourer combined spirited performance with elegant Superleggera coachwork in a way that came to define the David Brown era. Already a hit with well-heeled buyers, the DB5 became the stuff of legend with the wider public when the Silver Birch-cloaked lines of James Bond’s iconic machine first appeared on screen in the spy thriller, Goldfinger. Newport Pagnell’s premier grand tourer would remain etched in the minds of subsequent generations of both movie-goers and car enthusiasts.But while 007 made do with the tin-top version—produced in their many hundreds between 1963 and 1965—the more exclusive offering remained the DB5 Convertible, of which just 123 were created. Distilled further from this refined grouping, only seven DB5 Convertibles were originally built to the company’s high-performance Vantage-specifications.Vantage upgrades included flow-tuned intake manifolds providing a “ram” effect, the cylinder head featured extra-large ports, valve timing was modified, and ignition timing was advanced for extra power and a flatter torque curve. A vacuum reservoir was also added to the power-assisted brake system. As expected, the DB5’s reflexes were sharpened considerably in Vantage tune, particularly with 0–60 times dropping to just 6.5 seconds.Appropriately, any original Vantage-specification DB5 is a rare and highly desirable GT with immensely satisfying driving dynamics. The scarcely seen convertibles such as the one offered here reside firmly within the upper echelon of this iconic model’s register of collectability.

The Aston Martin DB10, created exclusively for James Bond in Spectre, marks the first time a car was specifically designed for the film series. Bond first encounters the DB10 in Q’s lab, where he learns it has been reassigned to Agent 009. However, Bond “borrows” the car for a rogue mission in Rome, leaving a bottle of chilled Bollinger in exchange. The DB10 is then seen driving through Rome's iconic landmarks before arriving at a SPECTRE meeting. As Bond flees the meeting, SPECTRE agents fire machine guns at the car’s bulletproof body armor and glass. A high-speed chase ensues as the new SPECTRE agent, Hinx, pursues Bond in a Jaguar C-X75 through the city streets. During the chase, Bond attempts to use the DB10’s weapon systems, even though he is unfamiliar with their operation. He first tries the ‘Backfire’ button, which reveals a twin-barrelled machine gun extending from the rear Aston badge, but discovers it is out of ammo. The ‘Atmosphere’ button only activates the car stereo. As they race alongside the Tiber River, Bond engages the ‘Exhaust’ button, unleashing a twin flamethrower. Finally, he presses the ‘Air’ button, which deploys the sun-roof ejector seat, allowing him to escape just before the car crashes into the river. As Hinx watches the Aston sink, Bond safely parachutes away and disappears into the night.
The DB10 features a chassis based on a modified V8 Vantage with a longer wheelbase, powered by a 4.7-liter V8 engine. Q claims the DB10 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, although Aston Martin states a top speed of 190 mph and a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.7 seconds. The car’s sleek design includes a shark-inspired nose where the grille sits in shadow beneath the main feature line, hinting at its stealthy character. The body panels are made entirely of carbon fiber, exposed on the sills and diffuser, and it has a full clamshell bonnet with a heat-mapped perforation pattern, negating the need for a vent surround. The designers drew inspiration from the classic DB5, working to ensure that when viewed in profile, the DB10 exhibits a single elegant shoulder line running from front to back. Only ten of these concept cars were built, with eight used to film key scenes in Spectre and the remaining two reserved for promotional purposes. Director Sam Mendes contributed to the design process, requesting a car with “clean, clear lines, something classic where it is almost impossible to place its year of birth,” aiming for a design that felt timeless, somewhere between the early ’70s and now.
The main filming sequence involving the DB10 was shot in Rome over three weeks in March 2015, involving 350 crew members and 250 blockers to secure the roads. The production shut down a 4 km section along the River Tiber, including five bridges, using a total of 15 locations such as the road leading up to the Vatican and Via della Conciliazione. Preparations for the shoot included location scouting a year prior, with pre-production beginning in October 2014. During testing, the stunt team went through a pair of tires every 10 minutes. Gary Powell coordinated the stunt driving while Mark Higgins was behind the wheel of the DB10.

What a difference 60 years makes juxtaposition of Aston Martin DB5 Vantage Convertible, 1963 & Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster, 2023. AML have revealed the first Vantage Roadster to feature a 5.2-litre V12 Twin-Turbo powertrain. Production will be limited to 249 examples globally, there were only 13 DB5 Vantage Convertibles though some open-roof DB5s have been converted to Vantage spec. The DB5 Vantage′s 4.0-litre DOHC straight-6 produced 330PS, the quad-cam 60-deg 5.2-litre V12 fitted to the Vantage Roadster makes 700PS

Aston Martin DB6 
In 1965, the DB6 was first shown to the public at the London Motor Show. Looking only at the front end, we see many similarities to its predecessor, the DB5. However, the rear of the DB6 has become completely different. The biggest difference is the slightly elongated rear end, which features a Kamm-style spoiler inspired by Aston Martin's racing efforts. The DB6 was the company’s signature road car of the times with just over 1200 examples produced. Very few of these were delivered from the factory with the desirable Vantage option package which included triple Weber carburetors and a higher compression cylinder head. In Vantage trim, the 4.0L DOHC straight six is quoted as producing 325 horsepower. The DB6 boasts numerous technical advancements over the DB5, including a 5-speed ZF transmission, slightly longer wheel base for increased stability at high speed, and improved aerodynamics.  This example features the 5-speed manual gearbox, instead of the 5-speed ZF automatic transmission. The DB6 was a powerful and elegant sports touring car, one which remains a timeless blue-chip classic thanks to its blend of all the ingredients that make a classic car quintessentially appealing. Mechanically innovative, rare, attractive, high performance, and with a touch of star quality lent by James Bond's famous DB5, the DB6 is an ideal all round classic.
