Who will win the BAFTA Awards 2025? 🎭
It’s the biggest night of the year for the British film industry 🇬🇧
The biggest night in film has arrived! Hosting once again is multi-award-winning actor David Tennant, who’ll guide us through a spectacular celebration of the year's best films. With a star-studded audience of nominees from Wicked, Conclave, A Complete Unknown and more, who will take home the coveted BAFTA mask?
Here who the bookies reckon will win the 8 biggest gongs of the night The BAFTA - and who is most likely to provide a shock.

1. Best Film
Conclave is now the narrow 13/8 favourite to take home the biggest prize of the night - Best Picture. Edward Berger's adaptation of the Robert Harris book about the selection of a new Pope stars Ralph Fiennes and Stanley Tucci. The Brutalist is hot on its heels, with odds of 2/1. | Contributed
2. Best Director
Brady Corbet is the 8/11 favourite for Best Director for The Brutalist. Starring Academy Award-winner Adrien Brody as Holocaust survivor László Tóth, he's already bagged the Golden Globe. Sean Baker is the 2/1 second favourite for Anora. | Getty Images

3. Outstanding British Film
Hot favourite for Outstanding British Film is papal drama Conclave with odds of 1/4. Its only rival would seem to be Irish semi-fictional rap biopic Kneecap, which is second favourite with odds of 6/1. | Contributed

4. Best Supporting Actress
Zoe Saldana it the one to beat for Best Supporting Actress. She's priced at 3/1 for the award for her performance in Emilia Perez. The Spanish-language film also starring Selena Gomez is about a cartel boss who fakes her own death. Ariana Grande is the 6/1 second favourite for Wicked. | Getty Images for DAOU Vineyards

5. Best Supporting Actor
Kieran Culkin is the 1/4 hot favourite for Best Supporting Actor for A Real Pain. It sees him star alongside writer and director Jessie Eisenberg as a pair of cousins who travel to Poland to honour their late grandmother. Joint 10/1 second favourites are Edward Norton and Guy Pearce for A Complete Unknown and The Brutalist respectively. | Getty Images

6. Best Casting
It's shaping up to be a good night for Conclave - it's also the 11/10 favourite for Best Casting. The second favourite is Anora, priced at 3/1. | Contributed

7. Best Actress
Superstar Demi Moore is evens (1/1) favourite for the Best Actress gong for her role in body horror The Substance. Marianne Jean-Baptiste is 6/4 second favourite for her stunning performance in Mike Leigh drama Hard Truths. | Getty Images for Critics Choice.

8. Best Actor
Adrien Brody has won pretty much every award going for his lead role in Holocaust drama The Brutalist and is 10/11 favourite for the BAFTA. It looks like only Ralph Fiennes has a chance of beating him, priced at 6/4 for Conclave. | Getty Images for Critics Choice
While you're waiting for the stars to hit the red carpet, why not catch some of them on BBC iPlayer?
Watch Leading Actor nominee Timothée Chalamet with Zendaya on Radio 1’s Unpopular Opinion, chatting all things Movies with Ali Plumb, or with Supporting Actor nominee Edward Norton as Kids Ask Difficult Questions. He also appears with fellow Leading Actor nominee Colman Domingo on The Graham Norton Show.
In fact, you can watch many of the Leading Actor nominees on The Graham Norton Show: Ralph Fiennes, appeared in 2023, while Hugh Grant and Sebastian Stan shared the sofa in October 2024.
From the leading actress category, you can join Marianne Jean-Baptiste on The One Show, Mikey Madison on The Graham Norton Show, Saoirse Ronan in Movies with Ali Plumb and The Graham Norton Show, Demi Moore on The Graham Norton Show, and Cynthia Erivo when she performed at the BBC Proms, or when she joined Supporting Actress nominee Ariana Grande for Kids Ask Difficult Questions and, of course, on The Graham Norton Show.
Alternatively, if you want to enjoy one of the films vying for a BAFTA, you can watch Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl on BBC iPlayer. The latest adventure has been nominated for Children's and Family Film, Animated Film, and Outstanding British Film.
The 78th British Academy Film Awards 2025 will take place on BBC iPlayer and BBC One from 7pm, Sunday 16 February— which means for those watching in the U.S., that's 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m.

Daou wine tasting is an amazing experience

It’s not every day wine tasting that the surroundings are as amazing as the wine. Beautiful, breathtaking, and picture perfect all describe my family’s thoughts as we spent time at Daou Mountain. This was a birthday celebration and the hospitality of the Daou team was outstanding. As I looked out over the vineyards, I understood the inspiration that Daniel gets in making his fabulous wines.
When tasting in Paso Robles, you know that red wines will be the majority of the wineries’ varietals. The reds at Daou range in fruit, depth, and structure with some varietals that are well-known and some that you may never have heard of before. Unbound is one of these wines with the familiar and less known grapes - 50% Petite Sirah, 24% Tannat, 26% Tempranillo. The result of this combination is a fruit forward explosion that ends with a smooth finish and lingering cocoa flavor. Our chef daughter spontaneously named ten meals she would pair this with – it’s complexity allows for a wide range of options.

As a historically white wine drinker, I was thrilled to find out that Daou has launched a new brand into retail. Of course, I enjoy their chardonnay and Daou rose is a ‘go to’ wine always found in my wine fridge. But – what a wonderful surprise Bodyguard chardonnay is. I’ve been known to enjoy my chardonnay on the heavier oaked side with plenty of vanilla and butter. Bodyguard takes those characteristics and mellows them to a perfect balance. After tasting the vanilla and cream, the oak kicks in (American and French) and ends with the silky feeling every chardonnay lover craves. I’m excited to have this vintage join our selection of Daou wines in the chiller.

Wine of the Day: DAOU "Soul of a Lion" Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine of the Day: DAOU “Soul of a Lion” Cabernet Sauvignon
Though drinking a powerful Cab may not be top of mind on this dog-days-of-summer Friday, it may actually be the perfect time to toast the day with a bold Cabernet as these early September days bring the anticipation of autumn, the start of harvest and cooler weather that is surely around the corner. Perched high atop what had become known as DAOU Mountain sits the sprawling DAOU Vineyards, the…

Central Coast BDX Blanc Dilemmas
I’m anticipating this being an interesting juxtaposition in styles… In addition to feeling Cab-producers have to be judged fairly harshly by their Sauvignon Blancs, I’ve always said there are two kinds of sauv-blanc producers: Bordeaux and Pinot. Bordeaux producers because they HAVE to, Pinot-producers because they WANT to. Painting in extremely broad strokes here, of course. To a lot of…

Nancy Pelosi’s Office Responds To Her Husband Being Arrested
Ryan Saavedra
3 minutes
Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office responded to the news that the congresswoman’s husband had been arrested in California over the weekend by saying that the 80-year-old lawmaker would not be commenting on the alleged crime.
“The Speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast,” Pelosi Spokesman Drew Hammill said in a statement.
Paul Pelosi “was arrested just before midnight Saturday night in Napa County, and then booked hours later into jail on two counts — driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol content level of 0.08 or higher … both misdemeanors,” TMZ reported. “The arrest info here lines up with what we know about Paul publicly, especially his birthday — listed as April 15, 1940. Indeed, the guy’s 82 years old.”
Nancy Pelosi was in Rhode Island on Sunday giving a commencement speech at Brown University.
Paul and Nancy Pelosi live on an estate in Napa Valley on Zinfandel Lane, which is valued at well north of $5,000,000, that has a vineyard that nets the couple $5,000 to $15,000 in grape sales per year.
Paul Pelosi’s arrest generated a wide range of responses online, including from lawmakers.
“This Memorial Day weekend, remember not to drink and drive,” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) tweeted. “Save a life, call an Uber. @SpeakerPelosi.”
Democrat strategist Peter Daou responded, “The DUI is bad, but the Pelosi family’s insider trading is even worse.”
Other notable responses included:
Harmeet K. Dhillon, attorney: “Thank God no one was hurt. Hope he gets some help for this problem.”
Jesse Kelly, radio host: “Always blows me away when this happens to rich people. Dude is worth over $100 million. Bro, hire a driver. My word.”
Mike Cernovich, political commentator: “The body metabolizes alcohol as you get older. I know a guy who got a DUI in his 70’s. He had only had two glasses of wine at dinner, but those machines say what they say. Keep this in mind as we all get older. One glass even might trigger those machines.”
Charles Gasparino, journalist: “With all the money these people make trading stocks you would think they can afford an Uber.”
Mark Levin, radio host: “Can’t really blame him.”
Jason Rantz, radio host: “As long as there’s no special treatment, not sure it’s news that the husband of Nancy Pelosi got a DUI.”
Chad Prather, The Blaze: “Nancy Pelosi’s husband arrested for DUI. If she was your wife, you’d be drinking and trying to get away too.”

Wine tasting Daou is the perfect activity to celebrate Spring moving into Summer
Ready to get out and spend time with friends? Wine tasting is definitely the way to enjoy time with people and celebrate food and the joy of viticulture. Daou Mountain provides an amazing selection of varietals and options for every wine lovers palate. The winemaker and co-proprietor, Daniel Daou is passionate, thoughtful, inquisitive, and focused on his approach to the art of winemaking. It is absolutely clear in his choice of grapes, his selection of terroir “between Bordeaux and Napa”, and his concern for the wine enthusiast who is waiting to drink his next vintages. There is time, consideration, planning, flexibility, and appreciation of every part of the winemaking process put into each bottle of Daou Vineyards wine.
Wine tasting at Arizona Country Club, my friends and I were able to experience not only the amazing food provided by the chef but also a walk through the myriad of wines Daou offers. I have been to Paso Robles – Daou’s home – before, but have not visited the winery. My preconceptions of a “Paso wine" went out the window the moment the first wine was served. I was transported to places that I have also tasted wines – Provence, Florence, Napa – it was wonderful to be so surprised! I hope you will try these wines and be as pleasantly shocked as I was… And – these are just a couple of the ones I purchased and can’t wait to serve to friends and family…

Daou Rose
Admittedly, I like rose in the summer (and we are heading there fast with the temperatures in AZ). My husband will drink it if I open a bottle but he would prefer a chardonnay. He couldn’t stop drinking this. I’m still not even sure how Daniel was able to create this complex wine - in it’s second year of production - but I am so happy that he did! It’s everything a rose would typically be (crisp, refreshing, summery – quotes from my girlfriends at the table😊). But – it’s also not overly fruity – it ends with a finish that borders between pear and peach – there was a big debate at the table on this one but ultimately we decided that “it’s just great!”

Daou Seventeen Forty 2018
Something sticks with me from last night as a habitual chardonnay drinker. Daniel said that he doesn’t want his wines to ‘scratch you’. I agree. Some red wines ‘scratch me’ and I don’t like them. BUT – this doesn’t (neither do any of his reds but this one is really special…). There are tannins, there is pronounced fruit, there is a really red wine feel – but you won’t feel scratched. The mouth feel is smooth, pleasing, and demonstrative without being overstated. It’s enjoyable to sip and amazing to drink with a great piece of red meat (like we had…). It would be wonderful with a firepit and great conversation. Bottom line – I would challenge you to find a reason not to enjoy this wine.
We are looking forward to our next wine tasting trip to Paso and visiting the place where these wonderful wines are grown.

The Prince of Pinot Noir in Paso, is Marc Goldberg, alongside his wife, Maggie D’Ambrosia. Quite the pivot for 2 talents who were hospital administrators + now trendsetters starting in 1989 when they thrust their pinot scepter into our Wine Country.( At that time there were only 12 wineries in Paso!) Fascinatingly, The Pinot Prince was initially discouraged about planting the variety with some noting that it was far too hot for pinot noir in Paso. But he discovered a hidden gem, a pinot noir vineyard planted at Hoffman Mountain Ranch (now Daou) in the 1960s by former Beverly Hills cardiologist Dr. Hoffman + his consultant, the famed Andre Tchelistchef. When Marc tasted their pinot noir he was swept off his feet, confirming his decision to exclusively plant this noble variety. Why Pinot? In the 1980’s, while traveling through Burgundy, France, there was a seminal moment when Marc was bitten by the pinot noir bug. Born was his vision to make a ‘great American Burgundian style wine’. To that end, Marc + Maggie scoured wine country + in 1989 found their shangri-la, in Paso Robles Wine Country on beautiful, rolling hills off Hwy 46 west, close to Hwy 101. It was a 26-acre barley farm with a barn. The site’s acres of well-drained, rocky calcareous soil, + location in the maritime-influenced “Templeton Gap” (a breach in north-south facing Santa Lucia Mountain chain) is ideal for Pinot Noir. (The property was previously a rhododendron farm chosen for its cool climate.) Accordingly, the cool ocean breezes pass through the mountain range + cool down the grapes with a 50 degree swing of temperature. In 1990 15 acres of Pinot Noir was planted under the direction of infamous Wild Horse winemaker, Kenneth Volk with 4 Pinot clonal selections: HMR, Adelsheim (Oregon), Bien Nacido, + Sanford & Benedict. Proudly displayed on Windward’s label is the french word “Monopole” signifying the sole ownership of the vineyard + the crafting of his wines made exclusively from “their” specific vineyard. The term also eliminates any possibility that other varieties of grapes are included in the wine as can be the case with some “Estate Grown” wines. Is Pinot your thing?
