So this is technically an update since I just added it to my neocities website, but since it seems like a head canon no one's thought of before, I'll post it to here.

Emma is autistic:

Music Obession: Emma appears to eat, sleep, and breathe music. In her meet me video on the nick jr. website, she only talks about what instrument to practice next. And in her profile on the website talks about how everywhere she goes, she practices music. And the episodes about her all revolve around some kind of music. Hell, Emma met Dora through music. Very clearly a special interest.

Emma Dislikes Messy Rooms: Emma is said on the website to dislike messy rooms. She's never shown to be more neat than the other girls so this might be related to sensory sensitivities.

"My friends accept me as I am.": Autism symptoms are more often dismissed as quirkiness, rudeness, actual threats, or as part of the culture, rather than what they are, autism. Having friends that accept that she is not trying to anything other than herself probably means a lot more to her than us, the viewer, or even her friends think. Plus, this didn't make any sense to have on there otherwise, since I don't see any quirks about her otherwise that would strike me as an accepting friend group being incredibly valuable to her (unless this is some kind of lesson that isn't getting through to me). And third, none of the other girls seem to describe being accepted in the friend group as a reason they love their friends.

A Very Temmie HOI-lday Recap Day 2

*[Another video, picking up right after the first it seems. It looks like Alexis has gotten some of the goodies from the event on display in the background, including a white t-shirt with blue paw prints and the walkie-talkie from earlier.]

* Hey again everyone! We got two more days of Soul Island fun to go over...I woke up a bit late on this day...but not so late to miss any real fun! Breakfast was light, but that’s okay! Once that was done, though, the Tems had set up a Cops and Robbers game, and assigned my sister and I to the Criminals team...

*[The ballerina frowns for a brief moment.]

* ...But I got taken out instantly at the Crystal Canyon. It’s almost like some of these people know I’m a threat in these sorta things...

*[A voice off camera makes a comment that sounds like ‘you were not paying attention’.]

* I was paying attention...but it was a bit too pretty there and distracting. Yeah. You should do one of these videos, Emma, it would be fun!

*[There’s a pretty firm ‘no’ as a response.]

* Don’t know what you’re missing...anyways...after becoming a hardened criminal, it was time for lunch...sandwiches. Not too much to say there, really...the real fun would come later near supper time. Pizza was the plan, buuuuut...one of the Tems decided to eat all of the pizza. Even I don’t know how he did it, there was like forty of them.

* So instead, the other Tems recruited everyone to help out. Some of us prepared dough, some of us gathered ingredients. Emma and I helped with the second one. I found a utterly massive tomato, and a huge mushroom to match...though I did get bonked in the head with a apple. After that we got to help make the sauce...and about a hour later...it seems the Temmies had made the biggest pizza I have ever seen.

*[Alexis pulls out her phone and brings up a picture of a utterly absurd pizza.]

* Think they mentioned it was like, 100 foot diameter. I’m sure that breaks some sort of record. Helping out in making it, though...made it all the tastier in the end! Val and Daf decided they wanted to compete over who could eat the most pizza, so I joined in too. Probably was a mistake, honestly...it’s gonna take forever to work all this off!

* And to make it worse, we got in trouble with the Tems because we made a mess...though most of it was Val blowing up one of Daf’s robot arms. The Tems bribed some of the other guests with cinnabuns to catch us when we fled, and catch us they did.

* ...Still worth it in the end, that pizza was really good. I snagged a bunch of extra slices for later.

Libertarian Socialist Synthesism

My name is Rose, I am a Libertarian Socialist Synthesist. I fuse ideas from Communalism, Anarcho-Communism, Council Communism, and Marxian critique of capitalism 1) Libertarian Socialist A)  Against all forms of tyrannical and/or centralized authority and replaced instead with de-centralized direct democracy. Opposed to authoritarian socialist tendencies such as Leninism, Marxism-Leninism, Trotskyism, and Maoism. B) Workers should democratically own their workplaces. Rather than having shareholders, a CEO, and board of directors decide what to produce, how to produce it, where to produce it, etc. those will be decided by the workers who work in the workplace C) Elimination of producing things to be treated as commodities. In a world where we are driven under capitalism by profit, resources should rather be distributed according to need 2) Communist A) Abolition of the state, which is a centralized institution ruled by a small elite who govern a bordered area and claim a monopoly on violence inside (and even outside through imperialism) those borders, and replaced with individual de-centralized communes B) Abolition of social classes, where we live in a world where, instead of privilege and status where the few rule over the majority, instead everyone will be equal without privilege. There will no longer be proletariat, lumpenproletariat, landlords, peasantry, bourgeoisie, or petite bourgeoisie, there will only be us, humans. C) Abolition of money in place of Mutual Aid, as proposed by Pyotr Kropotkin, Russian evolutionary scientist who proposed the best of the species survived, not by Darwin’s idea of survival of the fittest, but rather by those who help each other in mutual aid. In a world where we are ruled by profits, we must, as said in the socialist section, distribute resources according to need, not profit

3) Anarchist A) The idea that any hierarchical structure that cannot prove it’s legitimacy must be dismantled and replaced with something else, including the state, capitalism, and landlords, and that hierarchies should be replaced with horizontal organization instead of vertical B) The idea that consent is important in an economical system and social relations

4) Communalist A) Social Ecology, the socio-historical analysis of the development of hierarchy and freedom. It espouses a reconstructive, ecological, communitarian, and ethical approach to society and advocates for a reconstructive and transformative outlook on social and environmental issues, directly democratic confederal politics, and evnisions a moral economy that moves beyond scarcity and hierarchy toward a world that reharmonizes human communities with the natural world while celebrating diversity, creativity, and freedom, and that the roots of current ecological and social problems can be traced to hierarchical modes of social organization, and hierarchy cannot be resisted by individual actions alone such as ethical consumerism but must be addressed by more nuanced ethical thinking and collective activity grounded in radically democratic ideals. The complexity of relationships between people and nature is empasized, along with the importance of establishing more mutualistic social structures that take account of this B) Dialectical Naturalism, the ethics and philosophy of communalism that follows a dialectical pattern through the lense of nature rather than Hegel’s Historical Dialects or Marx’s Dialectical Materialism C) Libertarian Municipalism, the idea that we should have local assemblies within a municipality (town, city, village, tc) where citizens are encouraged to participate in directly democratically making decisions, where those assemblies can unite toward a common goal under confederations, and elected delegates that can be immediately recalled at any point for any reason by those who elected them as well as frequently rotated, and those delegates carry out additional tasks to the ones they already carry out. As Antonie Pannekoek wrote quote: ”The revolution by which the working class will win mastery and freedom, is not a single event of limited duration. It is a process of organization, of self-education, in which the workers gradually, now in progressing rise, then in steps and leaps, develop the force to vanquish the bourgeoisie, to destroy capitalism, and to build up their new system of collective production.” C) parliamentary debates and propaganda during election campaigns could be used to ‘enlighten the workers about their class situation’. However parliamentary debates and worker unions should not be the main focus in developing class consciousness, as the workers must take action themselves D) Organization and class consciousness are linked through a dialectical relationship. New forms of struggle and organization arise spontaneously, in the sense that they are not planned consciously in advance, and they arise as a practical response to the problems faced by workers in the course of their struggles. Once these new forms have arisen, however, they can be made more widely known, and other groups of workers can begin to act on their example. 6) Marxian (as opposed to Marxist) A) Criticisms of Capitalism including the idea that workers are alienated from their work when the fruits of the worker’s labor ends up in the hands of the employer; The idea that workers are exploited and extracted for their surplus value, the amount of labor that one puts into a product has a portion of the worth of the product they built taken from them and given to the employer, creating further alienation; that Capitalism is a contradiction-laden system with recurring crises coming from tendency of the rate of profit to fall; Capitalism is another stage in the evolution of economic systems; and many other criticisms.

7) Other A) I oppose a violent revolution, as appealing as it sounds, instead I support Democratic Autonomy as a method to achieving a socialist society. I’m not saying I oppose all violence. I support violent resistance to fascism, but a full-blown revolutionary war would kill millions and wreck havoc on the environment. Violent revolutions are a distraction if you have well-developed tech and infastructure. Just build an alt-government on anarchist principles and ignore what the state and capitalists are doing and build good things. I will support the revolution everyone fetishizes if it happens but theres risk of it failing, degrading into fascism or reverting back to capitalism. So what we must do is normalize socialism, organize socialists around mutual aid and charity works to improve our image and accomplish more than LARPing, build power inside and out of the existing power structures, institutions, unions, and organizations, engage in mass strikes and non violent demonstrations. Police attacking non-violent protestors or demonstrators is a bad look, makes us look good. Modern revolutions are won in the arena of public opinion. When 75 million people decide to back something, fighting it with violence isnt possible. The reason for 75 million is that the civilian casualties would run into the tens of millions if bio or nuclear weapons were used. 75 million is ¼ the US population and you arent gonna win revolution without that much support. The state is going to smear us as terrorists when we get violent, and use that as justification to impose all kinds of evil legislation. The United States alone has over 350 million people. Are we really willing to let that many people get slaughtered, and have our hometowns look like what Afrin looks like today? Are we willing to provoke nuclear war and wipe out the entire continent? Dust thrown into the air would block the sun, radiation would contaminate food and water. Instead I support, as I said, setting Democratic Autonomy, in which Libertarian Socialists infiltrate the nation-state’s government alongside Libertarian Municipalities and Worker Councils being set up immediately, ignoring what the nation-state’s government says, setting up counter-power, while simultaneously leeching off of it. It is important for us to act in a way in our current capitalist society as we would after it. Sunday, September 29th

Friday, she leaves work late. Again. Painfully late, she’s champing at the metaphorical bit, more than ready to leave. Things have gone poorly this week for her employers. That means opportunity for her, though, a likely chance to move up within the organisation, and this is the primary impetus behind the late, late nights she pulls for a week.  Any meeting she can edge in on, she does. Any report she can help file, she does. The more she knows, the more dangerous she is. 

The more danger she’s in.

And so she likes it.

But then there’s Diego, saying they need to work together, soon, always something off the radar with him these days, unofficial, so she finds time and it is Thursday night when they end up on the roof, by the couch. I used to be a degenerate here. She reads this situation like he’d flat out said it -- let’s -- but they don’t; as ever, it’s the tension as much as anything else that keeps them gravitating towards each other.

On Saturday, she’s out of office, she’s at a cabin on the beach. She is letting herself simmer in need, wondering what might have happened had she taken a single step towards that filthy couch, when her phone gives that special chime and her heart drops into her stomach. This is supposed to be a retreat from work, but, then, this is not a summons she can ignore.

Tʜᴇʏ ɢᴏᴛ ᴀɴᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ᴏɴᴇ. Aʟʟ ʜᴀɴᴅs, Mᴏɴᴅᴀʏ.

That night, looking over the waves, drinking wine, she knows:

Change is coming.

They will absolutely have need of her, and she will absolutely be available for them.

Which means Sunday, then, is her last chance for some time. She sends Boo the message shortly after sunrise: This is reckless of me, but…

But.

If not now, when?

… I’ve rented a little beach cabin for the weekend. Would you like to come out for the day, or dinner?

When it seems he’ll take her up on it, she knows he knows what she’s offering. No ratty couch you’ve fucked meaningless faces on. I demand better.

She thinks, overthinks, what she’ll wear. How she’ll greet him.  Whether to play at being demure. How gently to encourage him. Whether she ought to abandon pretense at all -- he surely will -- and the thought is enough that she allows herself a moment to fantasize. His rough hands, his tense body, his quiet lips, how they could share not a word of conversation all day but if he said her name, once, she’d fall apart.

An oversized button-down. Lazy, loose, over her bikini top -- the one that fastens in the front. Linen shorts, breezy and airy and light, with the waist that ties. Easy, all of it. He’ll see that.

She is almost embarrassed by herself.

But this is her last chance, for awhile, and they’ve toed this line for so long she’s half mad with it.

She will be fine so long as she does not think of Emma.

Because, she understands, this is a victory for the other woman: Emma remains in the picture, she has not faded away at all but only tightened her grip on Boo. Séverine reaching out like this is a weakness, and she harbours only a few illusions that Emma will not find out.  For all she knows, Emma might well be standing alongside Diego as he browses wines, or indeed might have been the person responding to her DMs; it has happened before. 

Séverine will pretend not to care.

And she continues to pretend not to care as the hours tick by, the sun crests in the sky, begins its lazy descent, and she makes lunch for one, and tries not to look at her phone but tries also not to look at the pathway descending to her little cabin, so when he has neither shown up nor said a goddamned word by sunset, she is trembling, incandescent with rage.

Surely he wouldn’t do this. Surely he wouldn’t ghost her. Surely he must be dead in an alley somewhere.

She polishes off the half-bottle of wine she has left. She has made barely a dent in the dinner she prepared.  Potatoes wilt, butter congeals in the creases of corn. She wraps herself in a cardigan and reaches for a book, starts tea, reminds herself that none of this, with him, has ever mattered.

Her work matters. Cutting the head off the snake matters. This lust? It does not matter.

She is in the cabin’s immense, luxuriant bed when Diego finally reaches out: I’m sorry. I am safe. Something came up.

And while she ought not to reply, while she ought to throw her goddamn phone across the room, she can’t help herself: a single word, as careless as she can manage: Ah.

For months now, when he has called for her, she has come to him. For months, when he is in need she drops her work and finds her way to his side. Time and time again they say to one another, I trust you, and perhaps this is her fault, showing a vulnerability to him, needing him not for work, but for selfish indulgence.

She turns her phone off entirely.  So it goes.  This is not the first time she has been let down; this is not even the first time she has been let down by someone in the bloody DAF.

Tonight, she will sleep; tomorrow, she will return to work.

And she will let that be her escalation.

i mean,, they didnt say those words but just acting as if isak did somethin as bad as emma when 1. he didn't and 2. he did apologize for being an asshole and emma never apologized for outing him.

*~Hey there everyone! Wander here to bring you more news from Soul Island. New Years Eve, so expect some fun news and hopefully less violence this day!~

*~Something must be in the air. That, or its all the mistletoe Daf [@multi-of-fire] hung around the place   We have received reports of three separate smoochings this day. One in The Jungle Greenhouse between Choco and Alchara [ @alex-andsometimeschara], another peck traded at the Snow Prairie with ExChara [ @experimenttale-au ] and Kara [ @thepastelhuman], and the best is saved for last!~

*~Gabe [ @nolvlost] and Frisk [ @prancing-pacifist] though they would have some alone time at the Gelid Lake. They were horribly wrong. After shocking each other with an unexpected kiss, their tender moment was promptly interrupted by none other than the Tem Dragon! With Winter [ @coldsoulgoodsoul] riding on them, the furry beast romped right on over to the lake and indulged in a bit of cacophonous ice skating, completely spoiling the romantic moment! Made your father proud, Win!~

*~It appears that the Temgon made another friend this day as well. Allison [ @pxche] got the privilege of joining Winter on the furworm’s back for an evening of ice skating. According to the reports there was more laughing than screaming. How disappointing.~

*~Tragically foiled love wasn’t the only notable event of the day. In the afternoon, Eimmet hosted a Snow Sculpture Building Event. Each participant was paired up with another camper that they weren’t friends with, pretty much giving them a chance to change that heheh. The matchups and their creations were:

*~Of course the counselors weren’t so cruel as to usher everyone in after curfew, despite my best efforts to persuade them otherwise. It was New Year’s! So, all dorms were open and curfew was utterly suspended, giving the campers free reign to mingle and enjoy the fireworks. Did I mention the fireworks? ‘Cause there was some fireworks. The Sky Temmies put on quite a show for everyone. Doubt any of the counselors saw it though, the took the opportunity to hide away in the Chamber of Gyftmas and party...How did you not notice the salt in your coffee, Counselor Amatsu?!~
