Cricut Thanksgiving Ideas: Elevate Your Holiday Crafts
Are you bouncing from blog to blog to find relevant Cricut Thanksgiving ideas? Then you have reached the right destination. As an expert, it’s my responsibility to share with you the personal experience that I found when creating the most impressive Cricut projects for Thanksgiving. If you love to be the host of a party, you must be conscious of impressing the guests with your expressive side.
But you know, it can be difficult to decide on a project and figure out how to make it. I’ve been there too. After using Cricut machines and crafting for more than a year, I understand the struggle. That’s why I’ve got yours back! I’ve collected some of the best Cricut Thanksgiving crafts to make your holiday crafting easier.
1.  Pumpkin Lanterns
One of the more accessible Cricut Thanksgiving ideas that any DIYer can design is paper pumpkin lanterns. These lanterns look great hanging on trees and positioned as centerpieces on the dinner table. If you have never made any lanterns before, then you’ll need a Cricut machine as well as other supplies.
2.  Fall Wreath
Created with a twig wreath, cardstock, and a ribbon to stick, hang it on the main door or the wall. Apart from that, you can add more spiciness to one of these Thanksgiving Cricut ideas by adding your personal touch and creativity. Other than that, all the DIYers can make this customized craft in different sizes, shapes, or colors.
3.  Autumn Leaf Garland
Furthermore, the autumn leaf garland is one of the most popular Cricut Thanksgiving ideas among DIYers. This garland appears to look more beautiful when draped over the doorway or hung from a tree. Besides, the crafter can make this fantastic garland with a maker-cutting machine, Design Space, and other supplies.
4.  Turkey Day Apron
My sister loves to cook, so I am designing a customized apron for her as a Thanksgiving gift. Now, to make one of these Cricut Thanksgiving projects, all you need is Cricut Explore, Cricut software, Heat Press, and specific tools. Also, you can create this garment in different sizes and colors with other graphics.
5.  Family Treat Jar
Are you in love with candies? Then, you should look for a fun way to express it by decorating the glass jar. It can be a little tricky and tedious for the crafter to decorate it. But you can add some removable or permanent vinyl with a message thanking your guest for attending the party.
6.  Cake Topper
Equally important, I will complete it while serving it with a dessert. The idea of placing a customized cake topper makes it look more delicious and praise-worthy among the audience. Now, to transform these Cricut Thanksgiving ideas into reality, I am going to use Cricut Maker, tools and accessories, and a glue gun.
7.  Coasters
In addition to the Thanksgiving Cricut ideas, another do-it-yourself craft that you can make is coasters. After designing the coasters, you can place them on your dining table in a proper alignment beside your plate. You can make this Cricut craft with wood, glass, or other materials by accessing the cutting machine.
8.  Paper Hat
Furthermore, make your entry grand by creating a customized paper hat for Thanksgiving Day. If you have kids in your house, then you can make them wear the hat and click photos with different poses. Amongst the Cricut Thanksgiving ideas, crafting this project is an accessible one. You just need a paper, cut-die machine along with other accessories.
9.  Thanksgiving Tote Bag
As an expert DIYer, I love to create various customized crafts using not only Cricut machines but also Heat Press. Amongst the Cricut Thanksgiving crafts range, you can design personalized tote bags. I can reuse the bag by giving the leftover turkey or dessert to the guests. Following this section, I will be making this tote bag by using Cricut Joy, Design Space, and Heat Press.
10. Kitchen Towel
Last but not least, under the Cricut Thanksgiving ideas also comes fall-inspired kitchen towels. You can hang this towel in your bathroom or your kitchen and clean your hands with the towel. However, to add an extra touch to your kitchen, you can make the towel by adding text by using font and other tools.
By sharing such unique Cricut Thanksgiving projects, it will get easier for you to choose the final project that you will make for the day. Now, don’t waste your time and start by preparing for the above-said projects.

🚨 G7 WARNED OF IMMINENT IRANIAN ATTACK ON ISRAEL WITHIN 24 HOURS 🚨
‼️The G7 countries have informed that Iran could mount a full-scale attack on Israel within 24 hours.
‼️General Michael Kurilla, Commander of U.S. Central Command, is expected to arrive in Israel on Monday to review plans and coordinate forces in the Middle East.
‼️U.S. President Joe Biden will convene his national security team in the situation room on Monday at 2:15 PM ET (9:15 PM Israel time) to discuss developments in the region.
‼️In a special report by Army Radio, Efi Triger noted that the IDF has recently deployed several units from the Home Front Command and the Jordan Lions Battalion to reinforce the defense of the Seam Line communities in the Sharon area. This action follows an urgent warning after recent targeted killings, indicating plans to carry out infiltration attacks on these communities, orchestrated by Iran and Hamas.
The Shin Bet received intelligence that terrorists from the Tulkarm area intended to infiltrate settlements in the Sharon Seam Line area. Consequently, soldiers have been stationed within these settlements to provide an immediate response to any incidents, given the proximity to Palestinian territories.
These units are tasked with serving as the last line of defense within the settlements, should all other security measures fail, learning from the events of October 7th. It became evident on the night between Friday and Saturday that there were genuine threats, as a terrorist cell from Tulkarm, eliminated on Saturday morning, was planning an infiltration attack in Israel.
Security officials told Army Radio that Iran and Hamas are attempting to divert Israeli attention to Judea and Samaria to provoke an intifada, hoping this will prevent an Israeli attack in Lebanon. Judea and Samaria risk becoming the main theater of war once again.

.. Medicine.  If you take chronic medicine (every day), get the 3 month supply from your Kupah.
.. Money.  Have cash on hand in case ATM’s and credit cards aren’t working.
.. Food.  Canned, dry, etc, supplies on hand for a week per person.  Baby food? Formula? Special nutrition? Pet food?
.. Light.  Flash lights, candles.
.. Communications.  Have a power-bank or two for your cell phone.  And maybe a radio (buy at hardware stores).

Mutsumi Inomata passed away on March 10. She was an artist responsible for designing the characters in many Tales series games. Somebody needs to keep a close eye on Yoshitaka Amano and Tetsuya Nomura, we can't lose any more JRPG artists this year.
The official Twitter account for artist Mutsumi Inomata announced on Monday that Inomata died on March 10. Her family held a private funeral.
The announcement added that Inomata's death was "sudden," and she still had the draft for a new illustration that she had only started drawing before she died.
Inomata is perhaps best known for being one of the main character designers for Namco's (later Bandai Namco Entertainment) Tales of series of role-playing games, alongside Kousuke Fujishima. The company offered its condolences and sincere thanks to Inomata in a message on Monday, adding that the connection fans of the series have to Inomata's characters "will shine forever in their hearts." Inomata was the solo character designer for Tales of Destiny, Tales of Destiny 2, Tales of Eternia, Tales of Rebirth, Tales of the Tempest, Tales of Innocence, Tales of Hearts, and Tales of Graces, and collaborated with other character designers for individual character designs in other installments of the series.
Within anime, Inomata worked as an animator at Ashi Production from 1979 until 1982, when she and some animators from Ashi Production left the company and founded Kaname Production. There, she worked as character designer and animator on such anime as Acrobunch - The Quest for Treasure, Plawres Sanshiro, Leda - The Fantastic Adventure of Yohko, Once Upon a Time, and Watt Poe to Bokura no Ohanashi, among others. In her later freelance career, she drew character designs for such anime as Future GPX Cyber Formula, Saitama Bōsō Saizensen Flag! Shinimonogurui no Seishun!!, and Brain Powerd. She also drew the illustrations for the Utsunomiko and The Weathering Continent novel series, both of which later inspired anime adaptations.

Not someone I'm familiar with, but I know she had to be stellar, if she wasn't there'd be more information about her instead of a laundry list of all the things she created and projects she worked on.
Having a bad run Akira Toriyama and now Mutsumi Inomata, I don't know if they're the same circle but I imagine they probably knew each other and crossed paths in their industries.
Oop and they both did Dragon Quest, there it is.

Long-distance internet cables in France have been cut in an act of sabotage, causing disruption to internet services across the country. This is the second disruption during the Olympic Games in Paris, after high-speed train lines were targeted in a series of arson attacks hours before the Games kicked off.
Marina Ferrari, France’s junior minister for digital affairs, said on X that in the early hours of Monday morning, multiple locations around France were affected by several “damages” that impacted telecommunications providers and have resulted in “localized consequences” to fiber optic services as well mobile internet connectivity. Internet companies confirmed the damage.
The French Ministry of the Interior, which oversees policing agencies in the country, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. French cybersecurity agency ANSSI told WIRED the problems are not linked to a cybersecurity incident.
At the time of writing, nobody has claimed responsibility for either attack. Officials have yet to identify any suspects involved in the cable-cutting sabotage, but they believe the disruption to train services could have been committed by people with “ultra-left” political leanings.
The incidents around the Olympics come at a time when Russia has been blamed for a string of disinformation targeting France and has also been linked to a series of potential sabotage attacks in Europe.
The second largest French telecoms company, SFR, appeared to be one of the most impacted by the vandalism. “Our long-distance fiber network was sabotaged between 1 am and 3 am last night in five different locations,” a spokesperson from SFR told WIRED. SFR says its maintenance teams are working on repairing the damage and said the impact on its customers was “limited.”
“Also, between three and eight other operators are impacted since they use our long-distance network,” the spokesperson said.
Nicolas Guillaume, the CEO of telecom firm Nasca Group, which owns the ISP company Netalis, told WIRED he believed the damage was “deliberate” and that ISPs serving both customers and businesses have been impacted. Several of the damaged cables, according to images shared on X by the CEO, appear to have clean cuts across them. Guillaume says it is likely that people opened the ducts where cables are stored and cut them. Internet company Free 1337 also confirmed it was working on fixing the damage.
While billions of people around the world use wireless connections, the underlying internet backbone is made up of cables traversing across countries and under seas. This infrastructure, which is able to automatically reroute traffic to limit outages, can be fragile and vulnerable to attack or disruption. EU politicians have called for internet infrastructure security to be improved.
But the sabotage is not the first time that internet cables in France have been damaged in potentially deliberate acts. At the end of April 2022, crucial long-distance internet cables around Paris were deliberately cut and damaged—causing outages that impacted around 10 internet and infrastructure companies.
In that instance, according to photographs published by telecoms companies, the cables appeared to have been surgically cut, all at around the same time, in three locations, to the north, south, and east of Paris. Thousands of people around Paris—and also some farther away from the French capital—were plunged into a temporary internet blackout as network operators rerouted traffic. “It is the work of professionals,” Guillaume said at the time.
Arthur PB Laudrain, a postdoctoral research associate in cyber diplomacy at King’s College London, says the most recent incident seems “less serious” than the 2022 outages. “Such actions are within the capabilities of ultra-left or ecologist and anarchist groups, especially if they benefited from insider assistance or knowledge (current or former rail or network workers),” Laudrain says. “However, we cannot rule out the fact that a state actor is encouraging, supporting, or directing such domestic groups to create plausible deniability of their involvement.”

A hacktivist group with the moniker Anonymous Sudan is a small Russian-funded misinformation operation with no connection to Sudan, according to researchers at CyberCX.
Founded early this year, Anonymous Sudan has claimed responsibility for a number of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, purportedly carried out in response to the anti-Islamic views or actions of Western organizations.
But in an intelligence update published on Monday, Australian-based cybersecurity firm CyberCX said Anonymous Sudan was set up to create "a smokescreen for Russian interests" by spreading propaganda and disinformation, and typing up Western cyber defense resources.
Image 2:
The reason of our attack is simple:
It's part of our campaign targeting companies registered in the United States. The operators of this site is "Organization for Transformative Works" (OTW) who are registered in the United States. In addition to that, we are against all forms of degeneracy and the site is full of disgusting smuts and other LGBTQ and NSFW things.
We bring you the good news that we will continue our attack for hours on end.
Image 3:
A group presenting themselves as a collective of religiously and politically motivated hackers has claimed responsibility for the attack. Experts do not believe they are honest about their motivation, so we urge caution in believing any reasoning they provide for targeting AO3.
As part of our efforts to help keep the site up, you might find that you get "Retry later" errors more often when searching or filtering works or bookmarks. Don't worry, just go a little slower, or try again in a few minutes! These are temporary measures.
We do not condone anti-Muslim sentiments under any circumstances. Additionally, to reiterate: cybersecurity experts believe the group claiming responsibility is lying about their affiliation and reasons for attacking websites. View the group's statements with skepticism.
We're trying a new approach to defend against the ongoing DDoS attack, so you may see error messages that say "429" instead of "Retry later." (429 is the error code for too many requests.)

Code of Ethics - Ch. 52 - Mating and Rituals
Releasing this one out of cycle because:
Monday (1/20) is a holiday in the USA and I'm hoping to use the extra time to chunk out a chapter and get back on schedule with the handy-dandy calendar that I wrote up for this year (no, I haven't posted it...yet)
I'm technically caught up with this release, which should have gone out on Monday (1/13).
I'm actually incredibly happy that November and December worked out the way they did for my writing. Yes, I need to set aside time for "The Greatest Superpower," but what all that did was show what I'm really capable of when it comes to writing...as well as help me realize when I really need to just take a break.
Benjamin's family arrives at the station, leading to a confrontation
Preview below the cut:
The week after Benjamin had sent the blueprints to the new ship designs had been both harried and pedestrian. While they had research to do and new processes to mint and new fabs to construct for the new parts required for the designs, both the doing of all the activity required for the new construction and the everyday, run of the mill happenings of the station proceeded as they had for months.
Probably the only really notable thing was the music studio opening up in the specially constructed adjunct to the station. It was technically connected to the station via robotic struts and cabling, it was specifically designed to allow for a space-gap between every part of the satellite building and the station on demand. Diane had mentioned to Albequerque Records during their meetings to get their lease signed Russe’s idea of space-gapping their studio and the eccentric owner and CEO of the company had latched onto the idea with a passion that Diane hadn’t expected. The costs of maintaining the outbuilding were, compared to a normal lot or berth most of the businesses on the station opted for, astronomical. Harvey (No last name, he considered it a meaningless tie to the mundane of everyday existence and had told Diane he felt it gave him an air of mystery. Given that the company’s portfolio showed a picture of Harvey’s parents standing and smiling at the camera in front of their Santa Monica home on Earth, complete with full names and bio, Diane felt the ‘mystery’ was rather solved, but the man was so amusingly spastic she couldn’t find it in herself to be put off by his quirks.) had immediately declared it the best idea ever and poured far more money than Diane would have given him credit for from his appearance. He wore what she could only describe as ‘Tourist Chic’ with flip-flops, cargo shorts, and a Hawaiian shirt, even during the most serious of business deliberations, and had a grin that made you either confused because you didn’t get the joke or smiling yourself because you felt like you’d been let in on a secret.
So far as Diane knew, Harvey wasn’t an S.A.I. or player, but given how...odd...he was, she wouldn’t have been surprised either way.

Hurricane Milton strengthens into a Category 5 as Florida begins evacuations (AP) Milton rapidly strengthened into a Category 5 hurricane Monday in the Gulf of Mexico on a path toward Florida, threatening a dangerous storm surge in Tampa Bay, leading to evacuation orders and long gas lines, and lending more urgency to the cleanup from Hurricane Helene, which swamped the same stretch of coastline less than two weeks ago. The storm’s center could come ashore Wednesday in the Tampa Bay area, and it could remain a hurricane as it moves across central Florida toward the Atlantic Ocean, forecasters say.
Growing the debt (NPR) A new report has found that both Harris’ and Trump's economic plans would increase the national debt. According to the nonpartisan nonprofit Committee for Responsible Federal Budget, Trump's plan would add an estimated $7.5 trillion to the nation's debt over the next decade, while Harris' proposals would cost the government an estimated $3.5 trillion. The committee has cautioned that there could be a future fiscal crisis if politicians do not take more decisive action on the national debt.
Police seldom disclose use of facial recognition despite false arrests (Washington Post) Hundreds of Americans have been arrested after being connected to a crime by facial recognition software, a Washington Post investigation has found, but many never know it because police seldom disclose their use of the controversial technology. Police departments in 15 states provided The Post with rarely seen records documenting their use of facial recognition in more than 1,000 criminal investigations over the past four years. According to the arrest reports in those cases and interviews with people who were arrested, authorities routinely failed to inform defendants about their use of the software—denying them the opportunity to contest the results of an emerging technology that is prone to error, especially when identifying people of color.
Juvenile Cyber Criminals (WSJ) The February 2022 hack of AI chip-maker Nvidia was one of the strangest cases ever. Someone—or some group—had stolen the crown jewels from one of the world’s most important tech companies and then acted like a bunch of kids on Telegram. They said they’d stolen some “juicy ass source code,” and demanded that Nvidia make its products easier for videogame players to use. It turned out that the Nvidia hackers acted like kids because they were, in fact, kids. They’re part of a new cybersecurity community that has become a bigger and bigger problem for law enforcement over the past few years. Calling themselves the Com, the kids have moved from giving each other grief in online games to stealing cryptocurrency and extorting some of the world’s most important companies, including Microsoft, Samsung, Uber and Rockstar Games. One of these hackers was Arion Kurtaj. Last year, fearing Kurtaj would simply never stop hacking, a British judge ordered him confined to a secure mental-health ward until doctors deem him to no longer be a public danger. Kurtaj was 17 when he hacked Nvidia, but he was just 11 when he started his life of cybercrime. He’s now the most notorious member of the Com. Other members are often so young that they have little fear of incarceration. They’re also so destructive that it’s hard to predict what they will do when they break into a computer network. A few months before the Nvidia hack, Kurtaj and his associates had deleted Brazil’s database of Covid vaccinations.
Mexican mayor assassinated days after taking office (Reuters) The mayor of the capital of Mexico’s violence-plagued state of Guerrero was killed on Sunday less than a week after he took office, the state’s governor confirmed. Alejandro Arcos was killed just six days after he took office as mayor of the city of Chilpancingo, a city of around 280,000 people in southwestern Mexico. The official confirmation came after photos circulated on messaging app WhatsApp depicting a severed head on top of a pick-up truck, appearing to be that of Arcos. Guerrero has become one of the deadliest states for aspiring and elected public officials, as well as for journalists.
Freed Russian arms dealer Bout back in weapons business, WSJ reports (Reuters) Viktor Bout, the Russian arms dealer who was jailed in the United States and then swapped two years ago for the U.S. basketball star Brittney Griner, is back in international arms trade, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday. Citing an unnamed European security source and other anonymous sources familiar with the matter, the WSJ wrote that Bout, dubbed “the merchant of death” is trying to broker the sale of small arms to Yemen’s Houthi militants. “When Houthi emissaries went to Moscow in August to negotiate the purchase of $10 million worth of automatic weapons, they encountered a familiar face: the mustachioed Bout,” the newspaper reported, citing its sources. The potential arms transfers stop well short of the sale of Russian anti-ship or anti-air missiles that could pose a significant threat to the U.S. military’s efforts to protect international shipping from the Houthis’ attacks, it added. Bout was one of the world’s most wanted men prior to his 2008 arrest in Thailand on multiple charges related to arms trafficking. His notoriety was such that his life helped inspire a Hollywood film, 2005’s Lord of War, starring Nicolas Cage.
Ukraine’s Donbas Strategy: Retreat Slowly and Maximize Russia’s Losses (NYT) Throughout the year, Ukraine has lost a series of cities, towns and villages in its eastern Donbas region to Russia, typically withdrawing its troops after hard-fought battles that sometimes lasted for months. To outside observers, Ukraine’s slow but steady retreat from the Donbas region, the main theater of the war today, may seem to signal the beginning of the endgame, with Moscow firmly gaining the upper hand on the battlefield, leveraging its overwhelming advantage in manpower and firepower. But Ukrainian commanders and military experts dispute that, saying that a more crucial fight is unfolding in the region that goes beyond simple territorial gains and losses. It is now a war of attrition, they say, with each side trying to exhaust the other by inflicting maximum losses, hoping to break the enemy’s capacity and will to continue the war.
Water stress in the Middle East and North Africa (Rane Worldview) In recent years, water stress in the Middle East and North Africa has become a more acute threat to the stability of both individual states and the broader region amid a constant struggle for control and management of this increasingly scarce vital resource. Countries’ mismanagement of their water supplies over the decades has worsened the situation in the region, where the predominantly hot and dry climate already exacerbates water shortages. The rapid population growth many countries are experiencing has also heightened the demand for limited fresh water. Against this backdrop, access to water supplies has become an increasing driver of conflict between both states and non-state actors in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as a catalyst for social unrest.
U.S. Citizens in Lebanon Feel Abandoned by the State Department as Israel Invades (The Intercept) After Israel dropped more than 80 bombs, including American-made 2,000-lb bombs, on residential buildings in a suburb of Beirut, Hana Bechara, one of 86,000 U.S. citizens who live in Lebanon, decided it was time to leave. She reached out to the U.S. embassy in Beirut. As the strikes continue, Bechara said the response from the U.S. has been vague and unhelpful. State Department officials have sent her generic security alerts urging her to contact commercial airlines directly for flights out, while acknowledging that airlines were “at reduced capacity,” according to emails reviewed by The Intercept. The most recent email from the embassy sent Monday said they were unable to assist her family but offered to “help U.S. citizens and immediate family members leave Lebanon very soon” without further elaborating on a timeline or the type of assistance. (Meanwhile, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Canada, Bulgaria, and Cyprus have all begun to evacuate their citizens on charter flights or government planes.) “We, and the U.S. citizens in Palestine, are being treated differently than other U.S. citizens who are in way less danger than we are,” Bechara said. Bechara and many other Americans stuck in Lebanon have contrasted the State Department’s responses to the sense of urgency and level of assistance Americans in Israel received following the October 7 attacks. Within several days of the attacks, the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem offered American citizens prearranged charter flights and boat rides to leave the country.
One Year After Oct. 7, Israel Sees a Future at War (WSJ) Weathering an Iranian missile assault, ignoring calls for a Gaza cease-fire, masterminding attacks against Hezbollah, targeting Houthi rebels in Yemen, rooting out militancy in the occupied West Bank and planning its next steps against Iran mark a shift in Israel’s security posture. For years, the military aimed for long stretches of peace that were only momentarily punctured by short conflicts with Palestinian militants. Much of Israel’s security establishment now believes this lay the groundwork for the Oct. 7 attack that killed 1,200 people and took another 250 hostage. Israel can no longer allow its enemies the time and space to build arsenals, many have come to believe. “Pre-emptive wars will be in the future part of the Israeli tool kit,” said Yaakov Amidror, a former Israeli national security adviser. Without seeking political and diplomatic solutions, “it’s a matter of endless war,” said Tamir Hayman, a former head of Israeli military intelligence and executive director of the Tel Aviv-based think tank Institute for National Security Studies.
‘Violence begets violence’ (Foreign Policy) Pope Francis said “the fuse of hatred” had been lit a year ago and “exploded in a spiral of violence—in the shameful inability of the international community and the most powerful countries to silence the weapons and put an end to the tragedy of war.” “The war that has raged over the past year continues to shatter lives and inflict profound human suffering for Israelis, Palestinians, and now the people of Lebanon,” said Tor Wennesland, the U.N. special coordinator for the Middle East peace process. “Violence begets violence, and in these moments of grief, we must reaffirm our commitment to peace.”
Gaza is in ruins (AP) The Gaza Strip is in ruins. There are hills of rubble where apartment blocks stood, and pools of sewage-tainted water spreading disease. City streets have been churned into dirt canyons and, in many places, the air is filled with the stench of unrecovered corpses. Israel’s yearlong offensive against Hamas, one of the deadliest and most destructive in recent history, has killed more than 41,000 people, a little over half of them women and children, according to local health officials (with another 97,000 other injured). With no end in sight to the war and no plan for the day after, it is impossible to say when—or even if—anything will be rebuilt. Even after the fighting stops, hundreds of thousands of people could be stuck living in squalid tent camps for years. Experts say reconstruction could take decades. The fighting left roughly a quarter of all structures in Gaza destroyed or severely damaged, according to a U.N. assessment in September based on satellite footage. The U.N. estimates the war has left some 40 million tons of debris and rubble in Gaza, enough to fill New York’s Central Park to a depth of eight meters (about 25 feet). It could take up to 15 years and nearly $650 million to clear it all away, it said. Gaza’s water and sanitation system has collapsed. More than 80% of its health facilities—and even more of its roads—are damaged or destroyed. Around 90% of Gaza’s 2.3 million people have been displaced by the war, often multiple times. Hundreds of thousands have crowded into sprawling tent camps near the coast with no electricity, running water or toilets. Hunger is widespread.
Deadly Marburg Virus Hits Rwanda’s Doctors and Nurses Hard (NYT) Rwanda’s fragile health care system could become overwhelmed by the deadly Marburg virus, doctors fear, because most of those currently infected are medical professionals, and some have already died. Since the first outbreak in the country last month, at least 30 medical workers have been infected, and at least four have died. Among the infected are two of the country’s scarce anesthesiologists. More medical staff members are isolated in hospital wards in the capital, Kigali. The health care system, with approximately 1,500 doctors and fewer than 40 anesthesiologists for a nation of just over 13 million people, could face significant strain.

I just wanted to give a heads up:
on November 27'th Flight Rising has a Scheduled Gem Cycling Week, as well as Cyber Monday Gem Sales. I figured some people might like to know that, just in case they were planning to buy a Wildclaw Scroll or something else.
(For newer players: The premium currency shop goes in cycles. For one week, twice a year, every item is available in the gem shop. The staff will announce if some items are cycling in and out of the shop once the week is over. )
I'd normally say its a good idea to buy gems/consider holding onto gems for that day. However staff also said there would be one more ancient breed released this year. They might have changed their minds/changed things around for scheduling, but just in case it is probably a good idea to hold onto some treasure.
I personally assume they wouldn't release a new breed in December. That month's very hectic with real world holidays and Night of the Nocturne. Unless the breed is connected to Night of the Nocturne, I think they'll release it some time in November, or sometime early next year. (I do not think we'll get a Night of the Nocturne Ancient, because the next breed is Nature. Nature already has a cycling gem breed, and need an 'available year round constantly' breed. It is still possible that it will be a December release. )

PRESS BRIEFING BY IDF SPOKESPERSON RADM. DANIEL HAGARI - JULY 19, 2024
Overnight, a UAV, which we believe was launched from Yemen, infiltrated from the sea to our west and struck a building in central Tel Aviv. This impact resulted in the death of one civilian and lightly injured eight others. We extend our condolences to the bereaved family and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
No alert was activated during the incident, and we are thoroughly investigating the matter. Our initial findings suggest the UAV was a Samad-3, an Iranian weapon likely upgraded to extend its range. This UAV flew from Yemen to Tel Aviv. Iran supports, funds, and arms its proxies in Gaza, Judea and Samaria, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, as evidenced by last night's event. UAV threats have been a constant challenge since the beginning of the war across all our borders. Dozens of UAVs have been launched from Yemen alone, most of which have been intercepted or shot down before entering Israeli territory. The majority were intercepted by an American task force under U.S. CENTCOM, while the rest were intercepted by Israeli Air Force planes or defense systems.
Simultaneously with the Tel Aviv incident, another UAV attempting to infiltrate from the east was intercepted and shot down outside of Israel’s borders. We are investigating the connection between the two incidents.
We are conducting a thorough inquiry to understand why the UAV was not identified as a threat and intercepted before it struck. An initial inquiry was conducted this morning, and we will continue to review the findings and update the public accordingly.
I want to emphasize that our defense is not foolproof. We are strengthening our air patrols and airspace protection across the country. We are continuously improving our capabilities to better protect the citizens of Israel.
There is no change in the Home Front Command directives. Should there be any changes, we will immediately inform the public.
Overnight and this morning, the Chief of the General Staff conducted several situational assessments. We have increased our defensive capabilities in Israel’s skies with additional planes and other measures to improve detection, alert, and interception capabilities. The incident on the ground was managed cooperatively by the Israel Police, Magen David Adom, and the Israel Fire and Rescue Services, who provided vital details for the inquiry.
In the north, the UAV threat is a daily challenge due to short-range launches, differing from last night’s incident. We are studying the northern threat to improve our response. We recognize the ongoing challenges faced by residents in the north.
In the past day, we have eliminated six Hezbollah terrorists and struck fifteen targets from the air and ground in the north.
We are engaged in a multi-front war, operating in all arenas and defending the country's skies daily. We are addressing threats both near and far.
In the coming days, we will continue our situational assessments to understand the incident better, determine the source of the threat, and decide on the necessary defensive and operational responses against those who threaten the State of Israel.

Jerusalem, right now.
[Eric Alterman]
* * * * *
We're now seeing the final hours of Israeli democracy. Yuval Noah Harari:
To understand events in Israel, there is just one question to ask: what limits the power of the government? Robust democracies rely on a whole system of checks and balances. But Israel lacks a constitution, an upper house in the parliament, a federal structure or any other check on government power except one — the Supreme Court.
This Monday, the Netanyahu government plans to pass the first in a series of laws that will neutralise the Supreme Court. If it succeeds, it will gain unlimited power. Members of the Netanyahu coalition have already disclosed their intention to pass laws and pursue policies that will discriminate against Arab people, women, LGBTQ people and secular people. Once the Supreme Court is out of the way, nothing will remain to stop them. In such a situation, the government could also rig future elections, for example by banning Arab parties from participating — a step previously proposed by coalition members. Israel will still hold elections but these will become an authoritarian ritual rather than a free democratic contest. Government members openly brag about their intentions. They explain that since they won Israel’s last elections, it means they can now do anything they want. Like other authoritarian forces, the Israeli government doesn’t understand what democracy means. It thinks it is a dictatorship of the majority, and that those who win democratic elections are thereby granted unlimited power. In recent months I have talked with many Netanyahu supporters, and they genuinely believe that any restraint on an elected government is undemocratic. “What do you mean we cannot take away people’s basic liberties?” they say. “But we won the elections! That means we can do anything we want!” In fact, democracy means freedom and equality for all. Democracy is a system that guarantees all people certain liberties, which even the majority cannot take away.
The establishment of a dictatorship in Israel would have grave consequences not only for Israeli citizens. The ruling coalition is led by messianic religious zealots who believe in an ideology of Jewish supremacy. This calls to annex the occupied Palestinian territories to Israel without granting citizenship to the Palestinians, and ultimately dreams of destroying the al-Aqsa mosque compound — one of Islam’s holiest sites — and building a new Jewish temple in its stead. Jewish supremacy is not a fringe notion. It is represented in the coalition by the Jewish Power party and the Religious Zionism party. Finance minister Bezalel Smotrich (from the latter) has recently called to wipe out an entire Palestinian town in retaliation for the killing of two Jewish settlers.
Men like Smotrich now command one of the most formidable military machines in the world, armed with nuclear and advanced cyber weapons. For decades the prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has waged a campaign to stop Iran from going nuclear, warning the world about the dangers posed by a fundamentalist regime with nuclear capabilities. Now Netanyahu is establishing exactly such a regime in Israel.
This could set fire to the entire Middle East, with consequences that will reverberate far beyond the region. It would be incredibly stupid of Israel to do something like that, but as we learnt from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, we should never underestimate human stupidity. It is one of the most powerful forces in history. The good news is that in recent months a powerful resistance movement has emerged to save Israeli democracy. Rejecting the ideology of Jewish supremacy, and connecting to ancient traditions of Jewish tolerance, hundreds of thousands of Israelis are demonstrating, protesting and resisting in every nonviolent way we know. Since Friday, more than 10,000 army reservists — including hundreds of air force pilots, cyber warfare experts, and commanders of elite units — have publicly declared that they will not serve a dictatorship, and that they will therefore suspend their service if the judiciary overhaul continues. By this Tuesday, the famed Israeli air force — which relies to a large extent on reservists — may be partially grounded.
To appreciate the magnitude of this step, it should be recalled that military service is a sacred duty for many Israelis. In a country that emerged from the ashes of the Holocaust, and that has faced existential threats for decades, the army has always been off-limits in political controversies. This is no longer the case. Former chiefs of the Israeli army, air force and security services have publicly called on soldiers to stop serving. Veterans of Israel’s many wars are saying this is the most important struggle of their lives. The Netanyahu government tries to depict this as a military coup, but it is the exact opposite. Israeli soldiers aren’t taking up arms to oppose the government — they are laying them down. They explain that their contract is with the Israeli democracy, and once democracy expires — so does their contract.
The feeling that the social contract has been broken has also led universities, labour unions, high-tech companies and other private businesses to threaten more strikes if the government continues with its antidemocratic power-grab. Israelis understand the potential damage to our country. As the so-called Start-Up Nation is closing down, investors around the world are pulling money out. The internal damage is even greater. Fear and hatred now dominate relations between different sections of society, as the social contract is ripped to shreds. Government members call the demonstrators and army reservists “traitors”, and demand that force be used to crush the opposition. Israelis worry that we might be days away from civil war. But the hundreds of thousands of us protesting in the streets feel we have no choice. It is our duty to ourselves, to Jewish tradition and to humanity to prevent the rise of a Jewish supremacist dictatorship. We are standing in the streets, because we cannot do otherwise if we are to save Israeli democracy.

THANKSGIVING - Review
DISTRIBUTOR: TriStar Pictures
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS: After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the holiday. The killer dons a pilgrim outfit and a John Carver mask as he begins picking off residents one by one. What begins as random revenge killings are soon revealed to be part of a larger, sinister holiday plan. Will the police or a local high school group of friends uncover the identity of the killer or become guests at his twisted holiday dinner table?
REVIEW: What started as one of the fake trailers created for Quintin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse Double Feature in 2007 comes to realization this 2023 holiday season. From the genre aficionado Eli Roth, THANKSGIVING embraces the vast history of slasher films to deliver a near perfect take on a killer infused holiday tradition.
The narrative never takes itself too seriously as it pulls out all the stops when it comes to slasher films. There are some corny, but not cliched, one liners that are served up as the relationship between the high school friends and the adults feels like a “Scream” film. The film is all about the ride, so you never fully empathize with the characters but there is enough there to hook the viewer. Roth and Rendell weave a fair number of misdirections and red-herrings to keep the viewer guessing, and their reveal features a montage to help the viewer connect their dots. I will say that I thought that there might have been two killers and looking back on the timing after the reveal seems a bit problematic. However, that is probably more a result of the editing than the narrative. The plot is filled with references to many classic slasher films and is sure to have fans comparing notes afterwards.
I enjoyed the film’s production values. Roth is a master of the genre and knows how to craft an energetic film and craft killer effect sequences. He excels at misdirection and plays on the viewer’s expectations like a skilled poker player. Given Roth’s past films, the deaths feel more like gags. There are WTF moments and somewhat gory scenes, but the filmmaker seems to have toned down the blood without compromising on the gore. In contrast to the film’s opening sequence at the “Right Mart,” the parade scene looks a little thin and not as tightly shot, but it is a small town and what floats there are in the sequence look great. I enjoyed Brandon Roberts’s score. There are movements that sound like homages to other films, but plenty of original material to set a unique tone for the film. The production designs are costumes that create cinematic magic to fully immerse the viewer for the entire ride.
I like the cast. Clearly everyone is in for the ride as well and balances the dark comedy and horror with exceptional results. Veteran actors Dempsey, Gershon and Hoffman are excellent and their younger cast members are splendid. It’s a great ensemble cast.
If you’re a fan of slasher films, THANKSGIVING is sure to leave you satisfied. There are some gags that should transcend your expectations, and several surprises along the way. Some are simple, others complex and gorey, and there will be blood but, again, not as much as you might expect from a Eli Roth genre film. Many of the deaths are served up with satire, but I wouldn’t expect less from a killer dressed up like a pilgrim.
THANKSGIVING is well with the wait of these past 16 years since the grindhouse trailer. Roth embraces the current state of the genre as the film focuses on the story and satire without any of the teen sex scenes in some of the classic slasher films. Teen relationships figure in, as does an excellent rave scene. It’s a wickedly delightful film that is sure to be a crowd pleaser and seems destined for a sequel that could only be “Black Friday,” with maybe a third film, “Cyber Monday.” Eli, let's talk!
