Over the past year or two, the news has been full of horror stories about shoplifting. To hear some people tell it, you’d think petty theft was a crisis of apocalyptic proportions. In the New York Post, for instance, we read that shoplifting is an “epidemic taking over America.” The Financial Times issues dire warnings of “surging shopping crime,” while Fox News insists that “the shoplifting crisis is a nightmare.” ABC’s Nightline airs scary-looking footage of what its hosts call “brazen smash-and-grabs”: people in masks breaking store windows, grabbing armloads of clothing, and running off. In the opinion pages of the New York Times, Pamela Paul waxes poetic over “What We Lose to Shoplifting.” (The loss in question? Paul herself feels less comfortable in stores these days. Riveting stuff.)
In response to this supposed scourge, there’s been a resurgence in “tough-on-crime” tactics, both from corporations and political leaders. In department stores like Target, customers are confronted by elaborate new security measures, with everything from toothpaste to frozen pizza locked behind glass. Rite Aid pharmacies have turned to facial-recognition software to guard their merchandise, only to discover that their computers falsely identify people as “likely shoplifters”—particularly if those people have dark skin. In New York City, Mayor Eric Adams has launched an entire police task force dedicated to retail theft. And on the campaign trail, Donald Trump has called for more violent measures, saying that police should simply shoot shoplifters on sight.
But statistical data shows that the reports of a shoplifting “epidemic” are highly exaggerated, if not outright made up. In a recent report, the Council on Criminal Justice gathered data about retail theft from 24 different U.S. cities, examining the frequency of reports, the dollar value of items stolen, the number of people involved in each crime, and several other factors. At first glance, it did appear that shoplifting was on the rise in the first half of 2023, as it increased by 16 percent compared to pre-pandemic levels. However, as German Lopez notes in the New York Times, that figure was heavily skewed by data from New York City. Remove the Big Apple, and the numbers tell a different story: shoplifting has actually decreased in 17 of the 24 cities surveyed, and is now fairly rare, with just 38.6 reported incidents per 100,000 people. In June 2019, that number was 45.1. Shoplifting might be happening more often in New York City specifically, but an “epidemic taking over America,” it isn’t.
Tumblr media
[...] As author and civil rights lawyer Alec Karakatsanis points out, there’s also a strong class element involved in what kinds of behaviors are deemed newsworthy to begin with:
When the daily news media reports on a “crime wave” or a “surge in shoplifting” nearly every time the numbers from the police department fluctuate upward (note that no similar metaphors are used for decreases), they are almost always using these terms to describe the collective behavior of poor people and other marginalized groups. Things rich people do don’t often get this same metaphoric treatment in daily news. How many times do you see a major news story on a “surge” in tax evasion (a problem over 60 times the magnitude of other reported property crimes) or a “wave of crime” by oil companies?

Thailand's top hotels || SofiaHotelHuahin
Thailand punches well above its weight when it comes to accommodations because it is home to some of the top hotels in Asia. The country's iconic addresses are saved for the beaches and islands; Chiva Som has frequently been named the best destination spa in the world, while Aman, Banyan Tree, and Six Senses are scattered throughout Thailand's top islands. In Bangkok, glitzy city hotels rival those found in New York and London.
Tumblr media
There are a lot of quaint and hidden hideaways to be discovered as well, where warm service and regional cuisine make you feel like you've had a taste of local life. The best hotels in Thailand are rounded together here for a rundown of our favorites.
Six Senses Yao Noi, Phang Nga
On the steep tiny island of Yao Noi, which is situated in Phang Nga Bay midway between Phuket and Krabi, Six Senses has mastered the castaway experience. On the speedboat trip to the resort, shoes are removed, and signs made of driftwood indicate to the white sand beach, the hilltop infinity pool, and a cluster of stilted homes with thatched roofs. Seeing the spa buried among the jungle's traditional long homes, getting to dinner by climbing through the multi-level bamboo and clapboard restaurants, and watching movies on the beach beneath the stars all feel like adventures. Use one of the hotel's bicycles to make a circuit of the island, passing through the fishing community and rubber plantations, and keep an eye out for pairs of sooty black hornbills.
Chiva Som, Hua Hin
Chiva Som is without a doubt the reigning queen of the Thai wellness industry; 27 years ago, when they first appeared on the scene, spa vacations in Thailand weren't even a thing. Since then, there have been many imitators, but none have been able to top the original's life-enriching blend of cutting-edge fitness (new equipment includes Iron Man-like Vision Bodysuits), medical diagnostics (blood work, gene testing), conventional Asian healing therapies, and hyper-intuitive staff. There are 16 distinct retreats to choose from, each of which will be meticulously customized to satisfy all of your mental, physical, and emotional needs. These retreats include stress and pain management, fitness boost, immune resilience, and elder wellness. This is where lifelong habits can be altered.
Banyan Tree Samui
The private pool in your home features a floating lotus flower and unparalleled panoramic views of Lamai Bay. Buggies transport visitors around the villas, private beach, spa, and elevated restaurant The Edge, which are connected by twisting steep walkways. Differently sized and shaped villas rise from the peninsula, but everyone has a view of the garden or the sea. The spacious bedrooms in the family and couple villas are open to expose private infinity pools, and the rainfall showers are large enough for two people. Beanbag chairs are set up on a wooden deck so that guests can relax and watch the sunrise over the water. Try renting a kayak or taking a private boat tour while spending the day at the private beach, or have afternoon tea at the beach café. If you go between April and May, you might get the chance to see local turtle hatchlings making their way into the water. It's imperative to visit the spa, particularly for the hydrotherapy massage. A steam room session precedes the ice-cold shower in the Rainforest treatment, which is followed by hard-powered water jets that target the back muscles.

The customer is always "a crazy, crazy man" : 2000 : Indian Consulate visa office, Toronto
India? I might have loved the 1980 song of that name by ‘The Psychedelic Furs’ but had never entertained going there. Then an email arrived from John Catlett, who had hired me the previous decade to assist him rebooting radio stations in Russia and East Europe, informing me that he had just been contracted for three years to launch and manage India’s first local commercial FM radio stations. Did I want to join him on a six-month on-site consulting contract? Desperation made that decision for me.
I had moved to Toronto in 1996 whilst working for huge American public corporation Metromedia International Inc. Within a year of that relocation, my job had suddenly and unexpectedly come to an abrupt end. ‘Suddenly’ because I had been invited down to its New York City office ostensibly to finalise my promised appointment as vice president, only to be told to my face by recently appointed marketing president Bill Hogan that I was to be replaced immediately by a newly recruited American. ‘Unexpectedly’ because, during the previous four years, I had implemented very successful strategies that relaunched radio stations Metromedia had acquired in Russia, Hungary and Latvia.
Since that setback, I had spent three years making approaches and job applications to Toronto’s dozens of radio stations, none of which cared to reply. The industry there turned out to be incredibly insular, dominated by national media groups and family businesses who had no interest in hiring an ‘outsider’. I had already had to leave Britain after having failed to secure a radio job there, despite having managed the most successful station launch of the decade at London’s ‘KISS FM’. Now I was having to relocate temporarily to India because Toronto had proven an equally impossible nut to crack. By then, I was desperate for radio work after a gap of three years.
On 11 October 2000, I brought my completed visa application form to the Indian Consulate in Toronto at the 9.30am opening time, took a numbered ticket from the dispenser and waited patiently for two hours until my number was called. I passed my documents to the clerk at the window, who told me the visa charge was $120. I asked her why, when the form itself stated the fee was $78 for a one-year visa. She waved me to an office at the end of the counter to see someone else.
I waited my turn to enter this small office, where a male officer asked me what my problem was. I explained that there was no problem, but that the form said the visa was $78. "This is an old form," he said, "the price has changed." I showed him that my form, printed by the Toronto Consulate, was dated August 2000 and I had collected it only a few days ago. The officer quickly became very angry and told me: "What does it matter to you how much it is? We give you a receipt." I explained that I had brought with me my budgeted cash amount of $78. The officer slammed my passport and papers down on his desk and shouted at me: "Either you want a visa, or you don't want a visa." So I picked up my papers and exited his office.
I returned to the line of visa windows and waited for a clerk to become free again. But the officer had followed me out of his office and now stood right in front of me, pushing me back from the windows and shouting in my face: "You are a crazy man. You are a crazy, crazy man. Who do you think you are, coming in here and demanding preferential treatment? What makes you so special? You must wait your turn, just like everybody else. Why do you want to be treated so special? You are a crazy, crazy man." Then he stormed off. I was dumbstruck. The only thing I had done was ask why the price had suddenly increased by $42. The crowd of more than a hundred people in the waiting room looked at me in astonishment. I patiently waited my turn again and the same clerk at the same window I had visited earlier charged me $130, a further increase of $10 within only a few minutes.
Er, welcome to India?

The Top Interior Designer NY Trends Taking Over
New York City is a hub for innovation and cutting-edge design in everything from fashion to food to visual arts. It should come as no surprise that interior design follows suit, with some of the most progressive and unique trends leading the way. From boutique firms to individual interior designer NY has no shortage of creative talent pushing boundaries in residential and commercial spaces.
Tumblr media
We’re breaking down the top interior design trends making waves in NYC right now. Whether you’re looking to refresh your home or want inspiration for a commercial project, understanding these trends is key to capturing the essence of New York’s dynamic design scene.
Organic Shapes and Forms
Nature is having a major moment in interior designNYC. Look for organic, irregular shapes and forms that bring the outdoors in. These biophilic elements have both aesthetic and functional benefits, connecting people more closely to nature while also providing visual interest.
NYC designers are incorporating organic shapes and forms in various ways, including custom millwork and built-ins with asymmetric shapes, curved walls and ceilings, kidney-shaped coffee tables or oval dining sets, and abstract art or lighting fixtures inspired by natural elements. The overall feel is fluid yet grounded.
Warm, Moody Hues
Gone are the days of all-white, stark interiors. Rich, moody hues are taking over in their place for a cozier, enveloping feel. Deep greens, navy blues, charcoal grays, and warm metallics like bronze and brass are some of the most popular paint colors and materials right now. Often used on cabinetry, walls, and even ceilings, these colors provide a dramatic backdrop for decor and artwork.
By balancing moodier hues with plenty of natural light and lighter accent colors and decor items, NYC designers are creating spaces that feel glamorous but still livable in real life. This trend effortlessly walks the line between stylized and comfortable.
Sleek Minimalism
At the other end of the spectrum, sleek, minimal interiors devoid of clutter continue to gain traction. This aesthetic highlights quality over quantity, with a tightly edited mix of furniture and decor that makes intentional statements.
Expect to see lots of neutral colors and materials, like white oak and marble, coupled with modern silhouettes. Clean lines, ample negative space, and an absence of overly personal clutter characterize this trend. High-end lighting fixtures and artwork take center stage. NYC designers often apply this minimal treatment to open-concept spaces, making them appear even more spacious and airy.
Maximum Texture Mixing
Forget playing it safe by sticking to one texture—mix and match for true depth and visual appeal. Smooth glass, nubby wool, glossy lacquer finishes, natural stone—you name it-is, fair game. The key is to incorporate these varied textures strategically so that there is plenty for the eye to discover without crossing over into cluttered territory.
In addition to using a range of textiles like wool area rugs, silk pillows, cotton throws, and velvet upholstery, creative shelving, and object styling make the most of contrasting materials. Matte ceramics combined with sleek metal bookends, a wooden bowl holding apples and oranges, and rough linen napkins on a smooth marble dining table bring this playful approach a new dimension.
Custom Built-In Storage
As real estate prices continue to rise in NYC, so does the need to maximize square footage through smart storage solutions. Custom built-ins offer tons of hidden storage capacity while also personalizing a space. From floor-to-ceiling bookshelves to window seats or bench seating with storage compartments underneath, built-ins are tailored to exact room dimensions and needs.
In addition to anchoring a room, built-ins add architectural detail suited precisely to each home. They also reduce visual clutter by containing items that would otherwise crowd surfaces. For these reasons, custom built-in cabinetry, shelving, and storage reign top NYC interior designers and their clients.
Statement Lighting Takes Center Stage
Lighting serves both practical and aesthetic purposes, making it a focal point rather than an afterthought in interior design. From sculptural pendant lights to vertical sconces and custom chandeliers, statement-making fixtures elevate rooms beyond basic overhead can lighting.
In addition to striking stand-alone fixtures, creative arrangements like staggered wall sconces or clustered pendants make ordinary lighting extraordinary. By mixing different shapes, sizes, and styles, lighting becomes an artistic element unto itself. Statement lighting pulls together an interior design concept while also injecting personality. For maximum versatility down the road, smart NYC designers opt for fixtures that allow customizable shades and bulbs.
Final Thoughts
Interior design trends come and go, but some standouts like these take hold beyond passing fads. Both residential and commercial spaces in NYC benefit from focusing on quality over quantity, clean lines, creative built-ins and lighting, edited decor, and bringing nature’s beauty indoors through organic shapes and forms. Rich colors and varied textures also add much-needed depth and dimension when balanced thoughtfully. Keep these key trends on your radar for interior design inspiration that captures the innovation and livability that makes New York City spaces so special. Their influence extends far beyond the five boroughs while retaining a quintessentially NYC point of view.

Porcelain Veneers in New York: Enhancing Your Smile with Aesthetic & Implant Dental Arts
Tumblr media
Your smile is the window to your personality and confidence. In a bustling metropolis like New York, where every detail of your appearance counts, achieving that perfect smile can significantly transform your professional and personal life. For urbanites looking to revamp their smiles, Porcelain Veneers emerge as a sophisticated, state-of-the-art solution. Step into the realm of Aesthetic & Implant Dental Arts, where the art and science of dentistry blend to create masterpieces in oral aesthetics.
Understanding Porcelain Veneers
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Imagine a thin layer of medical-grade ceramic crafted to cover the front surface of teeth to improve the appearance. This is the beauty of porcelain veneers. These customized 'shells' camouflage dental imperfections such as stains, chips, gaps, or misalignments, offering you a flawless and natural-looking smile.
The Aesthetic Appeal
One of the main reasons individuals opt for porcelain veneers is their unbeatable aesthetic appeal. The material's resemblance to the natural enamel of the teeth is remarkable, providing a translucent quality that mimics light-reflecting properties of real teeth.
The Longevity Aspect
Unlike alternative cosmetic treatments, porcelain veneers are known for their durability. When cared for properly, they can last upwards of a decade. Their stain-resistant nature ensures your newfound brilliance stands the test of time, even in a city as busy and kinetic as New York.
Why Choose Aesthetic & Implant Dental Arts?
Leading the Way in Aesthetic Dentistry
With a team of world-class prosthodontists and dental technicians, Aesthetic & Implant Dental Arts stands at the forefront of aesthetic dentistry. Their attention to detail, combined with cutting-edge technology and personalized care, ensures each patient strides out with a smile tailored to perfection.
The Implant Advantage
For cases where the need for such aesthetics is due to missing or damaged teeth, Aesthetic & Implant Dental Arts offers seamless integration of implant services. A comprehensive approach means that not only does your smile look better, but it's anchored by a strong foundation too.
A Legacy of Excellence
The clinic boasts a legacy of excellence in prosthodontics, and their track record in smile makeovers is backed by a myriad of satisfied patients who sing praises of their life-changing experiences at the clinic.
The Process of Getting Porcelain Veneers
The Consultation
The journey of a thousand smiles begins with a conversation. The initial consultation is pivotal, as it sets the course for the entire treatment. Aesthetic & Implant Dental Arts prides itself on a consultative process that focuses on your desires and what's best for your oral health.
The Preparation
Following the consultation, preparing your teeth for veneers involves reshaping them slightly to allow room for the veneer placement. This process is precise and minimally invasive, ensuring the aesthetics are coupled with a comfortable fit.
Crafting the Veneers
Next, a mold or digital scan of your teeth is taken, and the specific dimensions are sent to the dental laboratory to craft your veneers with utmost precision and perfection, ensuring they match your natural teeth in both size and shape.
The Fitting Process
Once your veneers have been meticulously crafted, the fitting process involves etching the surface of your teeth to create a strong bond with the veneers. A specialized adhesive is used, and a curing light hardens the bond, leading to instant gratification as you witness your transformation take place.
Aftercare and Maintenance
Maintaining your veneers doesn't require anything out of the ordinary — simply stick to a diligent oral hygiene routine and regular dental visits. Aesthetic & Implant Dental Arts will provide you with all the necessary care instructions to ensure your veneers last a lifetime.
Benefits of Porcelain Veneers in New York
The Confidence Boost
New York is synonymous with high expectations, and porcelain veneers don't just meet these expectations; they exceed them. The renewed confidence you'll experience is unmatched, empowering you to take on the city with a new, radiant smile.

Cleaning Services in Clayfield
Clayfield is a beautiful suburb in the inner city north of Brisbane. It is home to several top-notch schools, making it a great place for families. It also offers convenient access to the Central Business District, making it a popular choice for professionals.
There are many Cleaning services Clayfield that you can hire for your needs. Some of these companies specialize in end of lease cleaning, while others offer general cleaning services.
Window Cleaning
Cleaning windows is an important part of home maintenance. It helps extend the life of your windows, prevents dust from etching into them, and protects your investment. Ideally, you should clean your windows two to four times a year. This will help you keep the inside of your home looking fresh and bright. A dirty window can also reflect on the exterior of your property, which may cause a decline in your curb appeal.
Professional window cleaners usually have extensive training and experience in the industry. They must know how to operate and maintain equipment like aerial lift platforms and scaffolding. They also need to have a clear understanding of industryrelated health and safety regulations.
A professional window Cleaning services Clayfield company in New York focuses on client-oriented services. They use environmentally friendly products and provide customer service training to ensure their clients’ needs are met. They also have a personal nature fund that supports the Nature Conservancy’s “Plant a Billion Trees” campaign.
Upholstery Cleaning
Even with the best efforts, your upholstery can get dirty and smelly over time. Body oils, pet stains, and cigarette smoke can make your furniture look dingey despite regular vacuuming. This is when you need professional upholstery cleaning services. These professionals have specialized equipment and cleaning solutions that can reach deep into the fabric fibers to dislodge grime and odours. They can also apply Scotchgard to protect your furniture from future staining.
Professional upholstery cleaners can also eliminate harmful allergens from your upholstery, which can cause breathing problems in sensitive family members. These toxins include mold spores, pet dander, and pollen, all of which can trigger allergies, itchy eyes, and a runny nose. Using timely cleaning services helps you maintain a healthy indoor environment.
Getting your upholstery cleaned regularly is the best way to extend its life and keep it looking new. It can also help prevent dirt, odours, and germs from building up over time.
Carpet Cleaning
Carpets and rugs are a popular choice for floors in homes, but they also trap dirt and other particles. Cleaning them on a regular basis can help maintain their beauty and hygienic properties. This includes periodic vacuuming and spot stain treatment with commercially available cleaners. Keeping up with these tasks can be a challenge for busy homeowners, but professional cleaning services can help.
Regular cleaning of carpets can prevent the growth of harmful insects and fungi, as well as reduce allergens that cause asthma attacks and other respiratory conditions. It can also extend the life of your carpet and make it more comfortable to walk on.
Professional cleaners use special equipment to clean the deepest dirt from the fibers of your carpet. They start by applying a preconditioning solution that loosens stains and dirt. Then they apply a high-pressure stream of hot water (sometimes up to 200deg) that rinses away ground-in debris and residue. This method is also known as steam cleaning.
Pest Control
The suburb of Clayfield is home to a large number of heritage homes and older Queenslander-style houses on huge green blocks. These properties often contain wood, which attracts termites. These insects are similar to ants but can cause significant damage to property. It is important for Clayfield residents to have regular inspections and termite protection to prevent infestations.
When hiring a Cleaning services, look for one with experience in your area of concern. You can usually find this information on a company’s website or in local reviews. It is also helpful to choose a cleaner who is insured.
A good cleaning service will use a combination of specialized tools and techniques to provide the best results for your home or business. In addition, they will use specialized cleaning products that are safe for the environment. They will also ensure that they follow all regulations regarding pest control.

Barry B. Benson, an idealistic honey bee who has the ability to talk to humans, has recently graduated from college and is about to enter the hive's Honex Industries honey-making workforce with his best friend, Adam Flayman. Barry is initially excited to join the workforce, but his ambitious, insubordinate attitude emerges upon discovering that his choice of job will never change once picked. Later, the two bees run into a group of Pollen Jocks, bees who collect pollen from flowers outside the hive, and they offer to take Barry with them if he is "bee enough". While on his first pollen-gathering expedition in New York City, Barry gets lost in the rain, and ends up on the balcony of a human florist named Vanessa Bloome. Upon noticing Barry, Vanessa's boyfriend Ken attempts to squash him, but Vanessa gently catches and releases Barry outside the window, saving his life.
Barry later returns to express his gratitude to Vanessa, breaking the sacred rule that bees are not to communicate with humans. Barry and Vanessa develop a close friendship, bordering on attraction, and spend time together. When he and Vanessa are in the grocery store, Barry discovers that the humans have been stealing and eating the bees' honey for centuries. He decides to journey to Honey Farms, which supplies the grocery store with its honey. Incredulous at the poor treatment of the bees in the hive, including the use of bee smokers to incapacitate the colony, Barry decides to sue the human race to put an end to exploitation of the bees, with Vanessa agreeing to help.
Barry's mission attracts wide attention from bees and humans alike, with countless spectators attending the trial. Although Barry is up against tough defense attorney Layton T. Montgomery, the trial's first day goes well. That evening, Barry is having dinner with Vanessa when Ken shows up. Vanessa leaves the room, and Ken expresses to Barry that he hates the pair spending time together. When Barry leaves to use the restroom, Ken ambushes Barry and attempts to kill him, only for Vanessa to intervene and break up with Ken. The second day at the trial, Montgomery unleashes an unrepentant character assassination against the bees, leading a deeply offended Adam to sting him. Montgomery immediately exaggerates the stinging to make himself seem the victim of an assault while simultaneously tarnishing Adam. Adam's actions jeopardize the bees' credibility and his life, though he recovers. The third day, Barry wins the trial by exposing the jury to the torturous treatment of bees, particularly use of the smoker, and prevents humans from stealing honey from bees ever again. Having lost the trial, Montgomery cryptically warns Barry that a negative shift of nature is imminent.
With Honex stopping honey production, every bee is put out of a job, including the vitally important Pollen Jocks, resulting in all the world's flowers beginning to die out without any pollination. Before long, the last remaining flowers on Earth are being stockpiled in Pasadena, California, intended for the last Tournament of Roses Parade. Barry and Vanessa travel to the parade and steal a float, which they load into a plane. They hope to bring the flowers to the bees so they can re-pollinate the world's last remaining flowers. When the plane's pilot and co-pilot both fall unconscious, Vanessa is forced to land the plane, with help from Barry and the bees from Barry's hive.
Barry becomes a member of the Pollen Jocks, and they fly off to a flower patch. Armed with the pollen of the last flowers, Barry and the Pollen Jocks reverse the damage and save the world's flowers, restarting the bees' honey production. Later on, Barry runs a law firm at Vanessa's flower shop titled "Insects at Law", which handles disputes between animals and humans. While selling flowers to customers, Vanessa offers certain brands of honey that are "bee-approved".

How to Create an Art Deco Bathroom
Regardless of what style you have in mind for your bathroom, there are many options for you to consider. If you are looking for a more traditional design, you may consider a Clawfoot tub, Subway tiles and Pull-chain wall sconces. If you prefer a more contemporary look, you may opt for a Frameless mirror and Window treatments.
Clawfoot tubs
During the Art Deco period, clawfoot tubs were widely used in bathrooms. These tubs were made of cast iron with decorative feet. They were heavy and were a luxurious feature in the bathroom.
Today, clawfoot tubs are available in many colors and styles. They are usually made from cast iron or acrylic. They range in size from 4 to 6 feet. They are also available in a variety of colors including brown, white, tan, pink, and cream.
Some manufacturers allow you to customize your claw-foot bathtub with custom color or design options. This is especially helpful if you are remodeling your bathroom and you need to make your tub look like a vintage claw-foot tub.
Frameless mirrors
Whether you’re decorating a new home or just need to spruce up your existing space, frameless mirrors for art deco bathroom are a great choice. They’re lightweight, easy to hang, and can bring a touch of opulence to any bathroom.
When searching for the perfect mirror, you’ll want to consider the size, style, and material. Fortunately, you have a lot of options. You can choose from vintage mirrors with elaborate antique designs, simple frames, or a variety of styles. You can also shop in sets to save money.
The Art Deco style was a popular style during the late 1920s and early 1930s. The aesthetic is all about ornamentation and bold designs. This style is often associated with luxury hotels and cruise lines, but it’s also echoed in landmark architecture.
Subway tiles
Adding subway tiles to an art deco bathroom is a great way to achieve the coveted look. These tiles are versatile enough to accommodate any style, while giving the bathroom a stylish yet practical edge.
Subway tiles have made a big comeback recently. They were invented during the turn of the nineteenth century in the New York City subway system. They are available in hundreds of standard colors. They are also available in custom options.
A good example of a bathroom with subway tiles is this mid-century design by Bridget Hanley, a renowned New Zealand designer. Bridget paired the classic beveled subway tile with Beren Light Grey tiles, which match her interior styling.
Pull-chain wall sconces
Using pull-chain wall sconces in your bathroom is the next best thing to a dedicated lighting fixture. These lights are not only stylish, but they provide illumination for your bathroom’s dark corners. And since they are usually made of glass, they provide a clean, slick look that’s perfect for a bathroom that’s awash in marble.
The best part is that they aren’t hard to find. They’re available in a wide range of styles and finishes, so you’re sure to find something that suits your style. If you’re looking to add a bit of sparkle to your bathroom, consider a satin finish nickel sconce for your wall.
Cabinetry
Whether you are renovating or redesigning your bathroom, you should consider the impact of cabinetry. While it’s a necessity, it’s also an opportunity to accentuate your personal style. You can use bold patterns and high-contrast tile to achieve an Art Deco look.
When choosing a bathroom cabinet, be sure to choose a quality finish and a design that reflects the style of the era. The 1920s through the 1940s were a time of extravagant luxury. If you are looking to add a touch of glamour to your bathroom, you should consider installing a striking chandelier. Alternatively, a modern console or bas-relief style cabinet can make a good statement.
Window treatments
Choosing the perfect window treatment can be daunting. A well crafted curtain panel can help create a room that is both warm and inviting. A textured lining can help block out light and moisture, keeping your bathroom clean and dry.
The most common mistake is in choosing the wrong fabric. For a humid bathroom, cotton is a definite go-to. Silk is a softer material that retains its luster. The most impressive thing about this fabric is that it is washable and will not stain or fade. It is also the feng shui material of choice, as it has a positive effect on airflow.

Frequently Asked Questions
What will the bathroom decor trend be in 2023?
While bathroom decor trends are always changing, some themes have been around since the beginning. These are the topics we’ll be covering.
Minimalism- This is the idea behind minimalism. It’s about removing clutter from our homes. This could be as simple as clearing out shelves and cabinets, getting rid of unnecessary items, and then replacing them with useful ones. This also means making everything easy to use.
Urban Living – People prefer to live in cities as they are close to all the action. Urban dwellers nowadays want to live in areas that allow them to enjoy the outdoors. They don’t want the city to be without trees or green space. They’ve retreated to smaller homes and apartments with smaller yards.
Eco-Friendly – People are more aware of the environment. In turn, this has led to a rise in eco-friendly designs. Green design focuses on creating spaces that are healthy and sustainable. Designers have many options for creating eco-friendly houses. One way is to incorporate natural materials into the design. You can also ensure that the overall appearance of the home doesn’t distract from the surrounding environment.
Shabby Chic – Shabby chic was created out of necessity, not fashion. In order to avoid wasting resources, women were forced into reusing old clothes during World War II. They began to collect vintage pieces and then repurpose them after the war was over. Shabby chic has become a very popular design trend, with many applications, including furniture, accessories, and food.
Artistic Design-Artistic design has been around since the beginning of time. Artists have always sought to express themselves through their work. Artistic design has evolved with the advancements in technology. It is possible to combine digital art and 3-D printing to create unique objects.
Industrial Design: Industrial design isn’t new. It is a concept that dates back to hundreds of years. Today, industrial design is special because of the wide range of industries we have access to. To participate in this type of design, you don’t need to be part a large corporation. Anything is possible thanks to the internet.
Modernist Architecture- Modernist architecture derives its name from the way it looks at traditional design elements such symmetry, order, and balance. Instead, Modernist Architecture focuses more on asymmetry than order. This allows architects flexibility in experimenting with different shapes. Other features include open floorplans, clean lines, clear walls, glass, steel and concrete, as well as wood.
Contemporary Design – Modern and traditional design are combined in contemporary design. It is a blend of all kinds of design that gives you something unique and fresh that takes your taste buds along for a ride.
Nature Inspired: Nature-inspired design brings the outdoors inside. Plants and flowers add life to any room, while fountains bring water into the space. You can see some amazing examples of nature-inspired interior decoration here:
Rustic Interior Decoration – If rustic is your preference, you can use cedar siding or barn wood. These elements give the rooms an authentic farmhouse feel and work well in almost any setting.
French Country Interior – If your love for the country but aren’t able to bear the cold, you might consider adding a few French country touches. Choose simple colours, pastel hues, and soft furnishings. Consider painting the walls a light color and adding some french provincial chairs to the room. Here, you’ll be able to relax during the warm months.
Bohemian Style-If you enjoy the idea living in an urban area, but still desire a bit more country feel, the bohemian fashion will be able to help you do that. Think of earthy tones, simple fabrics and low-key ornaments.
What is an average cost for a complete bathroom remodeling in Metro Vancouver?
The average cost to update a bathroom is $25,000 in Metro Vancouver. This includes labour and materials costs, as well as permits and other related costs. The cost of the project will vary depending upon its size and complexity.
For a cost-effective estimate, it is crucial to hire a professional when you’re thinking about updating your bathroom. Bathroom renovations can be simple or complex. There are many options, depending on what your budget is and what you need.
The cost of cosmetic improvements such as painting, new fixtures or updating tile work is relatively low and can make a huge impact on the overall appearance of your bathroom. Other renovations include reconfiguring your bathroom layout, adding new features, such a tub and shower, or increasing the bathroom’s size.
What bathroom finishes will be in fashion?
The matte black finish was popular in 2022 and will continue in 2023. Brushed brass, bronze and other finishes will be very popular in 2023. These finishes can give your bathroom a luxurious touch.
Bathroom finishes are often treated as an afterthought when designing bathrooms. Bathroom finishes should be planned and considered carefully from the beginning. They have a huge impact on how the room feels and looks. They also help to create a sense calmness and tranquility in the space.
You should also consider the material choice for the bathroom. The classic white tiled floor can be combined with a wooden tub and vanity unit. Perhaps you prefer a different color scheme such as black and/or a completely contrasting one. No matter what you choose, ensure it suits your taste and blends in with the rest of your house’s design.
Bathroom finishes don’t necessarily have to be expensive. Any bathroom can be transformed with a simple coat of paint.

How to find a contractor to remodel your bathroom
From finding the right contractor to hiring them, getting estimates and signing contracts, the bathroom remodeling process is complex. Because you don’t want mistakes, but need to complete the job quickly, this process is done under pressure. Here are some tips to help find the right contractor and hire them for your bathroom renovation project.
Start searching online. You don’t have to be limited by your options when it comes bathroom remodeling. You can look for contractors through websites like Trustedpros, Houzz, and others. You can enter your zip code to see local contractors with good reviews. Always look at their portfolios and google reviews.
Ask friends and family. Your family may know someone who’s done a bathroom renovation recently. Ask them to tell you about their experience and if possible, recommend a contractor. They might even be able to give you a referral fee for referring them!
You can also check out forums online. For example, there are several bathroom remodelling forums on Facebook where people post pictures of their projects and ask for advice. Reddit and Pinterest are two other popular places.
Do thorough research. Check their credentials before you hire anyone to do the work. You should check their licenses, qualifications, and insurance. Please also note their previous jobs. Are they familiar with bathroom design? Are they familiar with bathrooms of similar size?

S66 E6 - The Bee Movie
An idealistic honey bee named Barry B. Benson has recently graduated from college and is about to enter the hive's Honex Industries honey-making workforce with his best friend Adam Flayman.
While they walk through inside the grocery, Barry discovers that the humans have been stealing and eating the bees' honey for centuries. He decides to journey to Honey Farms, which supplies the grocery store with its honey. Incredulous at the poor treatment of the bees in the hive, including the use of bee smokers to incapacitate the colony, Barry decides to sue the human race to put an end of exploitation to the bees.
Barry's mission attracts wide attention from bees and humans alike, and hundreds of people show up to watch the trial. Although Barry is up against tough defense attorney Layton T. Montgomery the trial's first day goes well. The second day at the trial, Montgomery unleashes an unrepentant character assassination against the bees leading a deeply offended Adam to sting him. Montgomery immediately exaggerates the stinging to make himself seem the victim of an assault while simultaneously tarnishing Adam. Adam's actions jeopardize the bees' credibility and put his life in danger, though he recovers. The third day, Barry wins the trial by exposing the jury to the torturous treatment bees, particularly the smoker, and prevents humans from stealing honey from bees ever again.
Having lost the trial, Montgomery cryptically warns Barry that a negative shift of nature is imminent. As it turns out, Honex Industries stops honey production and puts every bee out of a job, including the vitally important Pollen Jocks, resulting all the world's plant life slowly begins to die out, without pollinating them. Before long, the last remaining flowers on Earth are being stockpiled in Pasadena, California, intent for the last Tournament of Roses Parade. Barry and Vanessa travel to the parade and steal a float, which they load into a plane. They hope to bring the flowers to the bees so they can re-pollinate the world's last remaining flowers. When the plane's pilot and co-pilot are unconscious, Vanessa is forced to land the plane, with help from Barry and the bees from Barry's hive.
Kramer joins the circus.

Chapter 5 You Want it Darker?
Playlist Chapter 4
Warnings- Stalking *Disclaimer:This work explores themes of violence, murder, kidnapping and dubious consent. Individual warnings will be posted on each chapter. Reader discretion is advised.
He and Anya had exchanged texts sparsely throughout the days following his late-night exit from her apartment. The ocean between them was narrowing once more, though, the journey back to her trust was still proving to be a harrowing one. She had been so quiet as he’d dressed that night, cloaking her satiny skin in the security of a dark, floral-printed, silk robe, the knot tied firmly at the front. Faded tear stains had streaked her cheeks, and John could distinctly remember having felt a couple drops knot his chest as he’d held her. Twice more before his departure, John had apologized for spooking her, though, he couldn’t have pinpointed what exactly he’d done wrong; had he been too rough? Was the choking too much? She’d seemed pretty into it at the beginning.
That night, near two am, as John had left, she had graciously led him to the door, assuming a docile disposition, yet offering a chaste lip lock when they’d arrived at her front door. That alone had added to her complexity, and John had found it hard to decipher what Anya had been thinking; her fear would have suggested that she never wanted to see him again, her treatment of him begged otherwise. Though, it wasn’t like she’d have much of a choice when it came down to the crux of it; Anya is his, whether she likes it or not.
Since then, John had kept a close eye on her, as he always did, albeit, he did stay away from the cafe- she might need space, and he can respect that. And so, in lieu of visiting the cafe for his daily black coffee with two sugars and the occasional blueberry scone, John had parked his car, a black Jaguar, not the Mustang; he can’t chance her recognizing it, across the street from the shop.
The arrival of fall had caused a familiar humidity to befall New York city, though, it usually dissipated by the turn of the evening, trading places with a moderate chill that called for coats and scarfs. As a result, and because Anya had been working the second shift all week, John had been privy to customers walking in with all sorts of attire, some in lighter clothes more suited to the earlier day, in search of steaming cups to break temperate chills, while others bundled up enough to buy iced drinks. Each patron only served to temporarily block his view of her as she worked behind the counter, buzzing from the register, to the display case to the industrial coffee maker like a beautiful little bee, too busy to even carve some time out to check his last text;
"We should go out again, sometime soon."
The endless flow of traffic in and out of the shop had kept Anya busy enough, and despite him growing a bit ire that she had yet to respond, John waits. And waits. And waits. Until finally, it happened; a middle aged woman who he recognized as the evening manager spoke a few words into his sweet’s ear and she nodded before undoing the knots of her apron and casting it to the one of the cubbies below the counter in a wadded ball. From the security of sleek, black metal and heavily tinted windows, John watched as she reached for her phone, fitted into the back pocket of her jeans, just as she was headed to a door off to the side that led to a staff only area.
Anxiously, his heart raced, the palpitations making his palms sweaty and his breathing erratic; he’d been waiting for a response for over an hour and had known the risk that had accompanied even sending those words. Anya needed space, but he was yearning to be around her again. Not from afar, because after being within the reach of touch and more, admiration and adoration from a distance was no longer cutting it. John wants to feel the warmth of her skin tingle under his palms once more, he wants her words spoken specifically for his ears to be in such close proximity that their breaths are unavoidably shared. John needs Anya. Have her, feel her, love her,
Possess her.
With the absence of his usual ease and fluidity, instead with an embarrassing clumsiness, John scrambled for his phone, stuffed into the pocket of his dark wash jeans, fishing the device off just in time to open their sporadic-seeming text thread to finally see that she’d read his message. Upon looking into the window once more, he’d proven that she was simply standing at the same door, face illuminated by the dim light of her cell phone screen, and if his eyes weren’t betraying him- and they hardly ever do- worrying on her lower lip. Oh what he’d give to have that lip between his teeth.
Nibbling on it until she squirms, biting down hard enough to taste the saccharine metallicness of her blood.
Glancing back at the phone, John’s heart skipped upon the sight of the three tell-tale ellipsis in the little blue bubble, signaling that Anya was striking up a response. With bated breaths, he anticipated what it would be, eagerly hoping that the result would be favorable. He couldn’t stand the thought that all his work over the past months might be for nowt, that it could be so easily cut down by passion gone askew. He simply refuses to believe it.
It felt like it had been taking forever, and the little signal on his phone seemed to be taunting John, reminding him that he was so despicable that Anya could never love him the way he loved her. Despite his debonair and boundless resources, which usually attracted women, beauty, at least in his case, was only skin deep. A girl like Anya, perfect in almost every way required effort and polished appearances.
He should have been more careful with her
He should have listened when she said to stop
He should have-
“Sure. This Friday?”
Excitedly, his heart left and he was so elated by her response that had it not been for his expert reflexes and agility, he might have dropped his phone. Play it cool. Play it cool. Play it cool! Staring at the notification, he waited a minute, just so she wouldn’t go thinking that he was just waiting around for her response. He needs to come off as cool and unaffected, remind her that he can have any woman, but only wants her.
He let a couple minutes pass before opening the text and typing quickly, his exuberance translated in the way his fingers danced along the screen, trying to conjure up the perfect response.
“Great!” No, too simple.
“Awesome, looking forward to it,” backspace immediately, way too juvenile.
John’s fingers hovered anxiously, and he racked his brain for the perfect response, but the words escaped him, and stringing the right ones together was proving itself to be an exceedingly daunting task. Blowing an exasperated breath, John slumped into the comfort of leather upholstered seats, thinking for a moment more until it finally came to him, the perfect blend of eager and suave. Not giving away too much but not coming off as disinterested. It was just right.
“Looking forward to seeing you then beautiful.”
Tumblr media
All the research that John had done on Anya was nothing short of the gift that kept on giving, he knew her favorite movies, music, books and that her refined tastes didn’t just run in restaurants or wines, but in her choice of entertainment too; she likes ballet. There had been a few hints at her apartment and here and there on her social media too, a costume from Swan Lake that looked a bit too detailed to be something from a Halloween store and ticket stubs from college performances posted to her prolific social media. Though, the most information, everything that was of real effect had been derived from doing a deep dive into her past; school records and pictures from no less that eight years ago posted by friends; Anya didn’t just have an affinity for ballet, she used to be a ballerina herself.
Used to be. A severely fractured ankle had snuffed out any dreams of ever making it as a professional ballerina. It was quite a shame, and John had felt for her after seeing the videos of her performances buried deep on the net. Anya’s skill and grace was unrivaled, she couldn’t have just gone pro, she had what it took to make it as a prima ballerina for whatever company had been lucky enough to afford her. And there were lots of companies that had wanted her. Just two years into Julliard, there’d been offers from The Paris Opera Ballet and the American Ballet Theater. John didn’t know how it happened, it hadn't been listed in her records, but he did know that the months that rehabilitation had taken up had cost Anya her scholarship, and without any other means of having formal training, it had all been over. In that way, he likened her to himself; he once had dreams, hopes, aspirations; own a vintage bookstore in the city, find a woman he loved and settle down. But none of it ever happened, the bookstore turned into the Marines, and then the Marines turned into the mob. Besides, what good woman could love a broken man?
That was why he needs Anya, because even in her perfection, she's a little broken too.
They were just entering the New York City Ballet and Anya had linked her arm with John’s, getting so close that the amorous familiarity made his heart race. No woman ever had willingly drawn him close in an act of intimacy that wasn’t purely sexual. He’d never been good for anything more; too closed off, too possessive, too violent. But Anya was different, she wouldn’t see that side of him, she only deserved his best.
Her petite frame radiated gentle warmth that seeped through the many layers they’d both donned to break the evening autumn chill; a long coat over a velvet, burgundy, tea length dress with long sleeves and gold buttons running up the right side for her, and a navy coat finishing off a dark, semi-formal ensemble for him. Going up the weather-washed concrete steps of the building, their steps, soft and light, were drowned out by everyone else going in at the same time. “I can’t believe you got tickets to La Sylphide!” She giggled in exclaimed delight, “Ugh, it must have cost you a fortune.”
It hadn’t really cost him a fortune- when you have an actual fortune sixteen hundred dollars is inconsequential, a drop in an endless ocean. Though, John supposed that for Anya, that was rent with barely anything left to spare for groceries. He’d never thought about that part of it, how hard it must be for her to get by on minimum wage, how much she must need someone like him to give her a better life. “It’s nothing,” John managed a faint smile when she cuddled closer so they’d enter the building in unison, “I’ve heard this one is amazing.”
“You’ve never seen it?” Anya gazed up at him, her stature much smaller with the absence of heels, she’d gone with stylish flats that evening. John shook his head in an unspoken ‘no’ and she gasped, crimson lips forming a surprised ‘o’. “No way! You’ve been all around the world but you haven’t seen the best ballet ever?”
Their coats were taken, and the little card with a number printed in the laminated front was handed over for John to slip into his inner pocket. In response, he shrugged giving off an air of feigned nonchalance, “I prefer Swan Lake,” its a downright lie, truthfully, he doesn’t care for ballet at all. To John, it was just some ridiculous form of pretentious entertainment and after he’d witnessed how it had been twisted into a brutal training tactic at the Ruska Roma, his mind had been turned. Where Anya was concerned though, he was willing to endure and push past his personal reservations in the name of a connection.
“No way!” Anya lightly slapped his arm, “You like Swan Lake? I was in Swan Lake!” Giddily, she briefed him on her stint at Julliard, and obviously, John acted as if he knew nothing of it, “Gosh, I think back then was the happiest I’ve ever been,” she ended the story somberly.
“What happened?” Determined to act as if he’d never heard, or rather read, anything about her past, he painted on his best portrayal of intrigue, and John was no actor, but he thought he got by pretty well.
Anya frowned, thinking on it for a moment, “I fractured my ankle pretty badly. It was the stupidest thing, I’d been dancing since I was three, and those floors were usually so clean and so dry. But it had been raining that day,” she sighed heavily, “You know those days where you wake up in the morning and you just feel like something’s wrong, right here,” she gestured to her abdomen, “Just this bad feeling, in the pit of your stomach, and you just can’t shake it. You know it?”
They’d stopped near the doors to the main room, though, knowing there was a bit of time before the performance started, no one seemed in a rush to get in, “Yeah,” it was the only part of the story John didn’t know, and he was hungry to have more on her, he wanted to know her completely. Every unuttered fear, every unfulfilled hope, every private desire. Everything that made Anya who she was.
“That’s how it was that day,” she explained sorrowfully, “We were getting ready for the spring show, recruiters from some of the biggest companies were gonna be there, and benefactors. I’d already had letters from a couple, but it never hurts to shop around, right?” Anya chuckled dryly, ending the humorless sound with a thick swallow, “I was going to be Coppélia,” the main character of a ballet of the same name. “I guess somehow the floor got wet, fell on my ankle.”
John noted the sorrow in her tone, and how it was reflected in her eyes, familiar golden bits dimmed in a way that made his heart hurt. She didn’t deserve that, a future snatched away by a silly accident, the embers of her dream doused by typically hopeful spring showers. “I’m sorry,” John sympathized, and he knew the rest from there; brutal recovery, months of physical therapy, a withdrawal letter from the school. Anya deserved to be a ballerina, she was a princess among peasants, an angel in a world of demons and she would have commanded a stage so well.
Shrugging, she mustered up a smile, not quite genuine but not as sad as her former expression, “It’s okay, it probably wasn’t meant to be.” Her words were spoken like someone who believed in fate and destiny, and John had gone through enough of her inbox to spot her silly, personalized horoscope and tarot card subscriptions; Anya was the type that believed that destiny was predetermined by divine forces out of her control, John was the type that knew that nothing happened without initiative, there was no result without effort and the only person that could determine your fate was you.
“You believe in that kind of thing? Fate and stuff, I mean,” John offered his arm once more and they headed inside, where the vast room was dominated by quiet chatter as people were just getting into the seats assigned by their tickets. They were in row H, among the best, and priciest, in the theater, and the website had promised that the view from there would be magnificent.
John let her slip into her seat first, leaving him with the one nearest to the aisle, and upon sinking down into the red, velvety cushions, Anya immediately reclaimed his arm. Its still shocking, considering the way things had gone on their last date, but he isn’t complaining in the slightest. “I guess you could say that; I believe that everything happens for a reason. And when something…doesn't happen,” she added after a moment spent sorting her words, “There’s a reason for that too.”
Firmly, John resisted her thinking, but he did know that it was definitely in his favor; if Anya believed that everything happened for a reason, then maybe she’d believe that John was in her life for a reason. All he has to do is make her see that its a good one.

The show was nearing the peak of the second act, and an intermission passed with flutes of champagne and appetizers without enough substance to soak up the alcohol was far behind them. After she’d shivered as a consequence of the air conditioning, John had draped his suit jacket over Anya’s slender shoulders, and after he’d done that, she had leaned to the side to lay her head against his bicep.
She was enthralled with the story, he could see it written on her face, and while it did seem of some interest, John couldn’t help but not look away from her. The contortion of her face, the breathless delight, the subdued glee, both paired with knowing that he’d been the one to give it to her, it was something he wanted more of. He wants that for the rest of his life.
The room around them was still and quiet, save for the instrumental music, and John thought that it would have only taken the slightest thing to disrupt it. One pin drop, one cellphone, one sharp gasp. Much like the one that parted his lips when her hand strayed suddenly to his crotch. Even with his trained sight, it was hard to tell if she'd done it on purpose, though, when Anya stroked his thigh, he thought it was pretty clear what her intentions were.
Softly, John cleared his throat and adjusted uncomfortably in his seat. Her work was discrete, he was completely positive that the older couple sitting on Anya’s left hadn’t even noticed; an encouraging squeezing, a gliding brush and beneath her small palm, his growing erection ached for freedom. “Thank you for bringing me here tonight,” she’d turned slightly in her seat to arch up and bring her lips to John’s ear, “It was so nice of you,” her thumb traced his zipper and he could feel every movement of her teasing fingers through the fabric of his pants and boxers. With a lingering kiss pressed near his ear, she ended her words, settling into her seat once more.
Inwardly, John groaned, his member stirring excitedly and all he could think of was slamming her against the nearest surface and having his way with her. Roughing her up the way he had a week ago, feeling his cock nestled so deeply in her cunt that Anya could have probably felt him in her stomach. But that had scared her, and John didn't want to take any more chances. “You don’t wanna do this,” he warned sternly, voice rasped with desire.
“Oh yeah?” She smirked, and her head shifted so Anya could glance at him through her thick lashes, “Why’s that? You're gonna punish me the way you did last week?”
In the dimness, John could barely make out the darkness of lust in her eyes, but he could easily detect the sultry undertones of her whispers, “Do you want me too?” His voice shook, and quickly, his mind had started putting the pieces together.
Maybe that night hadn’t gone exactly the way he thought it had.
“Oh baby,” her grin widened, just as Anya gave his hardened shaft another squeeze, “I’m hoping for it.”
Matching her smile, John snatched her wrist harshly, holding it tight enough to restrict blood flow, “Well, what are we waiting for? ” He stood first, and with no choice, Anya followed suit. Neither of them paid any mind to the other well dressed patrons grumbling as they started heading towards the exit, bound for the nearest bathroom. He didn't let her wrist go until they were secured in a corner stall of the ladies room, and then, it was merely so John could roughly slam her against the door, so he could give his girl exactly what she wanted.
Maybe Anya is a bit more twisted than he initially thought.

“Dating Johnny Thunders would be like...” Headcannon
(a/n: I will either be loved for finally making this, or hated because it took this long; this is also kinda longer than my usual dating headcannons because I was really feeling the first meeting idea; "MWABRIM" you know da vibes😌🍷)
Warnings: Implied smut, but nothing severe.
(a/n: ALSO, I MADE THE FOLLOWING GIF MYSELF BECAUSE APPARENTLY THE CITIZENS OF TUMBLROPOLIS DON'T KNOW WHAT A MATTRESS IS DUE TO THEM SLEEPING ON JOHNNY FOR ALL THESE YEARS)
Tumblr media
You and Johnny met each other under funny circumstances
You own a nice little unisex boutique that all the lovers of ✨G L A M✨ and daring fashion are OBSESSED with
Rockers, groupies, and even big artists and musicians alike are in and out of your store daily for eye-catching and jaw dropping pieces
It only made sense to see him come in one evening with a friend of his that didn't look too bad himself
You were ringing up a customer, but not really paying attention to their advances as they were trying their hardest to flirt and fucking FAILING.
You were too busy checking out the dark haired guy staring down a pair of cheetah print platform boots that you'd love nothing more than to see him rock the hell out of😩
Everything was good until you were caught slipping and he saw you eyeing him returning a cute smirk in your direction...
In which you panicked and finally went back to minding the customer who finally gave up with the flirting
By the time you looked back over to the table stand with the platforms, he and his friend were gone, and so were the cheetah print boots (you celebrated in your head over that little detail) they had moved onto looking at blouses
About two customers later, you turned around to place a black sheer glitter and feathered robe that a customer decided they weren't getting in a basket to return to it's aisle, when you hear someone on the other side of the counter clear their throat and greet you-
Slightly startled yet hopeful you turn around a little faster than you would have liked to see the dark haired mystery man and his friend ready to check out-
"I didn't mean to scare you", "No! It's fine I was just putting away some things, you didn't scare me at all. Did you both find what you were looking for?", "Yeah everything turned out fine, this is a nice place you've got here. You don't have to worry, we weren't gonna steal anything, in case that's why you were peaking a little."
You wanted to sink into the floor-
"Oh god no, I didn't think that at all- *immediately thinks of lie to cover up that you were staring because he's hot* -I just saw that you were looking at the cheetah platforms, I'm glad you're getting them. They'll look good on you(:" *you had to take a chance bc you'd never forgive yourself if you didn't*
It payed off and THEN some. He introduced himself as Johnny and his friend's name was David. He told you about their group and invited you to see them the following night
Of fucking course you were gonna go see them, how could you say no?!
The following day you closed the shop early and rounded up some close friends for pregame and then you all headed to the club where "The New York Dolls🍸" would be playing, and to your surprise the person at the door said that you were on "the list" and guided you and your friends to one of those rounded booths close enough and with perfect view of the stage.
When the show started the boys came out and you saw Johnny. With a Gibson Les Paul Special in hand. And wearing the fucking platform boots. The match you lit to light your cigarette almost fell on you while you watched in awe. The whole show was nothing less than an out of body experience that you'd replay in your head for weeks to come.
After the show when the crowd died out, you and your friends stayed back as ordered by the same doorman.
When the Dolls came out from the dressing rooms you all got acquainted and they invited you and your friends to this cool afterparty and you and Johnny were together the entire way to the kickback just vibing off of the concert high✨
The afterparty was a blessing in disguise because in the house where it took place there where so many spots where you two could be away from the crowd and just talk and actually get to know each other
So there you both were, lounging in a poolside conversation pit just watching the stars and getting wrapped up in deep and meaningful conversation (all elevated by some trees you scored from one of your friends to smoke😌)
Okay so maaaybe you both got really into the moment. AND MAAAYBE you ended up having fucking COSMIC high sex when you both ditched the party and headed back to your place. BUT WHAT MATTERED MOST is that you really love this guy and he loves everything about you😩
He admires you and loves your bold persona and lifestyle and you love his drive and will to just exist and perform unapologetically
Johnny is a man that loves to give affirmations, he absolutely loves to praise you and give compliments whenever he can. He was over at your apartment once helping you rearrange your living room, and you were hanging up a painting that you got recently and hung it up crooked on accident....this man said that the crookedness adds 💫character💫 to the room....😗.......chile.......anyways........
You love the fact that he is actually a hopeless romantic so you don't feel cheesy when asking him out on a stroll in the park or to go stargazing, most of the time he beats you to it actually!
You are convinced Johnny is obsesssssed with your apartment. He always jumps at the opportunity of you inviting him over because you make it such a safe space. He writes a lot of his music over in this one corner of your bedroom where you managed to fit a green velvet corner sofa, next to this big window that overlooks other apartments and the city skyline.
You also have a collection of memoirs and other books that you hold dear to you and he very much enjoys laying his head in your lap while you read to him and then discuss thoughts and interpretations about each chapter. You usually follow up these literature hours by blazing some herbs while you play a few choice records. That's a typical Sunday evening for you guys.
The support you two have for each other is OFF THE CHARTS. You show up and show out for EVERY one of his shows and you'd always tell your friends, and then they'd tell their friends and the chain continues.
Johnny is in your boutique Every Other DAY. Either by himself or with one of the boys and it's worse than before now that you've given him a pass to inventory. He buys the good shit before you can even get them onto the shelves and hangers😖
He also finds it hot that you can flip the sign on the dressing room doors to occupied (he likes to see how quiet you can stay when he-....you know😉)
Did I already say that he loves everything about you? BECAUSE HE DOES. You're like a- in his words, "fucking ANGEL that was sent down as a pardon in this cruel world💞"
He absolutely adores your skin and loves to watch you take care of it, and he loves when you wash and take care of your hair as well and even asks to help you out sometimes. His favorite thing ever is helping you put curlers in and massaging your scalp with oil or grease, it feels like you're getting a spa treatment to him and honestly, it kinda makes him feel like he doesn't do anywhere NEAR enough to keep his hair healthy like he should.
He loves your smile and how you laugh at some of the shittiest jokes and even things that people wouldn't understand. Your occasional jists of sarcasm always get him too.
He also likes to hold you. There will sometimes be random points in the day where he won't say a word, just walk up behind you and rest his head on your back. You never question it, you find it wholesome and endearing. And sometimes you do the same thing. He could be in the middle of practicing on his guitar and you'll just lay your head on his shoulder and he'll put everything aside just to give you his attention because he feels you deserve that much, and then some.
You both have a passion for many interests and a passion for each other and that's why you work so well together
Call it cliche if you WANT but you were literally MADE for one another💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
