hey dillo! earlier i saw one of your posts that was talking about a deaf!reader meeting the gang because they're ponyboy's friend and i would LOVE to see some headcanons on the boys meeting them! - 🇰🇷 anon
A/N: Thanks for the request! Hope you enjoy it!
So as the ask says, this set of headcanons is going to be for a Deaf!Reader, I’ll probably start with a little about you being friends with Ponyboy, but that won’t be overly crucial to the ideas here, just in case you’re not too fond of Ponyboy for any reason-
But let’s get started, yeah? Let’s get to work!
First and foremost, I’m not deaf, but I do know people are partially and completely deaf, so I know a little bit about what I’m talking about-
But anyways-
Your introduction to the gang starts with Ponyboy, you guys end up in the same class or something
Ponyboy’s not overly popular, a greaser who’s too smart for his own good sitting in a class of mostly Socs, and you, who’s kind of on the outs anyway because nobody is really good at making accommodations to help you out-
But you two end up together and kind of sort of hit it off and have a little bonding moment-
And as always….y’all end up working on a project together, which means you end up at the Curtis household
But before that, Pony drags you over to eat lunch with him at school, making sure you wind up sitting at their little rag-tag table of him, Johnny, and Two-Bit when Two decides he wants to attend school
Y’all hit off almost immediately and once you meet the rest of the boys, things go swimmingly as well and it’s honestly a really good time all the way around!
So let’s talk about all the boys, shall we?
Let’s give everyone a little love and attention, Lord knows they all deserve it and more-
Two-Bit’s not put off by your lack of hearing in the slightest- the first ever interaction he has with you, after knowing you’re deaf, is him asking you to teach him all the bad words you know in sign language
Whether you end up teaching him or not…that’s up to you, my dear friend, because teaching him is going to keep him quiet for about a half an hour and then he’ll be using his new vocabulary on those around him, and someway or another, you’ll probably get in trouble
Dallas, the softie, refuses to let you walk by yourself, especially not after it gets dark, he’s adamant that somebody go home with you, and though he’ll complain up a storm, sometimes he’ll even walk you back
He’s also the first to throw a punch when someone wants to say something about you; all the boys are willing to defend you, their pal, but Dallas really won’t hesitate, homeboy will start swinging the second anything negative is said about you
Darry picks up quickly on flashing the lights in a room you’re in, he’s very good about tapping or getting your attention in ways that work for you, but they become such habits to him that he starts doing them for everyone else
The first time he does it to Ponyboy, Pony just kind of raises an eyebrow and is like, “Ya know I can hear you, right, Dar? You ain’t gotta do all that.”
Johnny’s probably the best at signing, out of all the boys he’ll most likely be the one to retain the most vocab and be the smoothest with his speaking-
Mainly, I have a feeling he or Pony would be your interpreters? At least till the rest of the gang catches up on communicating with you in whatever way works the best
On the flipside of that, Sodapop is absolutely egregious at signing and forgets half the words you’ll teach him
Most of the time, he’ll just rely on your ability to read lips or he’ll try to fingerspell things out to you but his fingers are flying so fast it really just turns into a whole mess
Steve is always bugging you to come sit in the garage with him and help him out with the cars, mostly because you can never complain that all the loud noises bother you
This leads to a lot of him wheeling back and forth beneath the cars so he can let you know what he needs and make sure you’re doing alright while he’s working on everything else
Ponyboy’s probably the best at communicating with you though, mostly because he’s the one who got to know you first, and he’s honestly really good at making sure he’s signing or you’re able to read his lips at all times so you can keep up with what’s going on
So yeah!
That’s what I got!
Hope you liked it!

Vergil Owns A Vinyl Collection: A Concept
Notes:
I was listening to My Spotify 2020 Wrapped playlist on my couch when this idea came up. My bitchass legit sprinted to my room to write this.
Read it on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/27790540/chapters/68142217
After staying in the human world and going good, Vergil indulges in one human interest: music.
He hangs around the jukebox in the Devil May Cry office and the music player in Nico's van. He wants to pick something to play but it's never what he likes.
So he gets a music player on his own.
His vinyl player is ancient. He probably picked it up while in a flea market while Dante goes to buy random crap he shouldn't spend money on. Nico fixes it for him.
Vergil starts a vinyl collection. He always liked silence, but he likes the intimacy of picking out a CD and playing something for himself.
He puts it next to his leather book.
Vergil listens to Joy Division (pretend it exists in their world). Especially their song "Disorder". Homies. Hear me out:
"I've been waiting for a guide To come and take me by the hand Could these sensations make me feel The pleasures of a normal man? Lose sensation, spare the insults"
HOW IS THAT NOT VERGIL. It really encapsulates an aspect of his struggles to be human and how Dante is his guide in embracing his humanity. Ian Curtis was the blueprint.
Sometimes Vergil will go to the bookstores and look through the pieces of vinyl as well as some poetry.
Homeboy probably gets instrumentals and classical music as well.
When Dante plays his godforsaken heavy metal and hard rock, Vergil retires to his room and plays some Mozart or what have you.
Nero gets him a vinyl of Kyrie's singing. He listens to it a lot, almost a smile on his face. His son is quite thoughtful and his girlfriend/fiancée is a wonderful singer.
During darker times, when he gets stuck in his head again, he'll lay on his bed and listen to his vinyls. It brings him peace in the suffocating silence and the overall heaviness of his intrusive thoughts.
Fluff: The DMC gang gets their own copies of what Vergil listens to so during group missions Vergil can call the shots on the music and feel included.
I..want..him..have nice things.

You don’t know what to do. How do these things work? Do you just take your clothes and go? Do you wait until he wakes up?
You’re really not sure what happens next. You've only seen the morning after in movies and they don't exactly reflect real life.
You’re stuck beneath his arm, slung around you from behind. The scent of his sweat and yours clings to the blankets. You hug your chest as you stare at the wall and try to untangle the riddle of how to proceed.
You shift one leg against the other and repress a groan. He’s left you sore but delectably so. Each brush of your thighs reminds you of how he felt inside you, all the same inspiring a sense of hollowness.
As you try to ease the weight off your shoulder, he hums and his arm curls around you. He pulls himself closer, flush to your back, and you freeze. The soft hair along his chest presses against you and his bicep bulges as he squeezes you tight. He nuzzles behind your ear and you feel a twitch against your ass. Oh.
Maybe there’s more? Maybe it isn’t over? But you know that men often have some nocturnal activity uninspired by reality.
You slip your arm from under the blanket and touch his wrist. You contemplate escape. You don’t want him to wake up sober and realise what he’s done. You don’t want to ruin this.
You try to lift his arm but he merely holds you tighter. He elicits a growl that whisks against the shell of your ear. You give up almost at once. His nose brushes your lobe as he breathes you in.
“Don’t leave,” he purrs, gentle but firm.
“I… should,” you eke out.
“Mmmm,” he burrows his nose in your hair, “why?”
You swallow. You don’t have an answer for him. It’s Saturday. You don’t have work and your friends won’t be awake till noon with how much they drank. So what do you tell him? I should go before you see me?
“Stay,” he hooks his leg around yours and pulls it back, “for me, bunny.”
Your cheeks bloom with heat. Bunny? That’s cute, it doesn’t quite fit you, does it?
He runs his fingertips up your arm, a trail of goosebumps speckling your skin. His fingers dance along your shoulder before he slides beneath the blanket. You hold your breath, tense as he delves further, following the curve of your body to your waist.
“Please,” you choke out, “don’t–”
You frantically reach beneath the blanket and stop his hand as he touches your stomach. You cringle as his rough palm brushes your middle. He hums and rolls his hips.
“What? God, you’re so hot, baby,” he kneads your stomach.
You blink and your lips part dryly. Your heart flutters as hot adrenaline surges through your veins. Could he really want someone like you?
He drags his hand from beneath yours and traces the line of your pelvis. He draws circles there, inching closer and closer to your cunt. You shudder as he keeps your legs parted, his own still curled around your knee.
“Curtis…” you murmur.
“Shh, bunny, just… relax,” he coaxes as he cups his hand over your pussy.
You gasp as he spreads your lips with his index and ring fingers. You bite the tip of your tongue as he presses his middle finger against your clit and flicks. Your hips spasm and you squeeze his forearms. You feel his tendons and bulging veins against your palm. He’s so perfect but he treats you better than.
He rolls his fingertips around your bud, keeping a stirring pressure as he huffs into your hair. You heave as your insides coil in delight. He snarls as he urges you on, playing with you until your whimpering and desperate.
“Come on, baby, you can do it,” he growls, “I know you can cum for me. Hmm?”
You squeak as your muscles string tight. Your nerves storm in your core and ping off each other as the tension builds. You clutch his arm tight as you brace yourself for your orgasm.
“You want me to put it in? You gotta cum for me, okay? You gotta be ready for me, bunny.”
You moan as your walls quiver. You want him and your body clenches at the thought of having him. You push your head back as you surrender to him. You squeal as your climax crashes into you, shaking your body as you buck wildly against his hand. He purrs and helps you through, rubbing your clit until you're weak and senseless.
“How do you want me, baby?” He trails his hand along your pelvis, wiping your slickness up to your hip.
“I… I…” you can’t answer. What can you say? You just want him.
“Can I have you like this, baby?” He wiggles his dick against your ass. He rigid and wanting.
You gulp and nod, moaning out a slew of gibberish.
He inhales and holds in the air. He reaches to your thigh and pushes your leg higher. He hooks his other arm beneath you as he shifts even closer. Your head lolls on the pillow and you arch your back as he guides your body.
He snakes his hand down and tilts his pelvis, catching his tip between his fingers as he frames your cunt. He rests his cheek against your head as he inches into you, letting out his breath as he slowly buries himself as deep as he can. He holds himself there as you squirm and clench around him.
“That’s it, baby, you’re doing good,” he preens as he pulls back, “hmm, you’re so good for me, aren’t you?” He slides in again and once more stays sheathed in you, “do you feel how you fit me so perfect?”

Okay so we all know Colby has a simple pickup tattoo what I'm trying to wrap my head around is weren't they problematic? Like S*m P*pp*r level problematic? So if homeboy got a whole ass tattoo for them he must like them a lot.....
from some of the quickest research i can look up, it seems like simple pickup had both the picking up girls side and confidence building side. a lot of their older videos were just asking girls out in dumb ways, but then as they got bigger, they got more into building men's confidence in social situations.
i know they definitely did some terrible shit in the past, and i know separately two of three guys that were a part of simple pickup are kinda shitty ppl now. i can only hope and assume that colby got the tattoo bc they helped him with his confidence, which is what he talks about them doing the most for him.
also, i know that tattoo also means 'protect your heart' to him as well. so i think that tattoo has a lot of meanings to him.
but yeah... i don't love to really think about how snc got their confidence and their general start on yt bc of some pickup artists. PUA in general gross me the fuck out, so i do my very best to not think about them being literal teenagers thinking that using PUA is a good way to talk to girls.
something to note also is that they were also friends with sam pepper, which is why we got the 'killing best friend prank'. they also were friends with curtis lapore too. both terrible fucking guys that they haven't really associated with in years.

Unconditional Love: Arrow 7x09 Review (Elseworlds Part 2)
The crossover was only five minutes long. Wow! It went by so fast.
Source: whoeveryoulovethemost
(Fair warning: if you are a Fl*sh fan I wouldn’t read this.)
Let’s dig in…
Olicity
I watched a lot of insufferable bullshit to get two scenes, but they are really good scenes. I love y’all and this couple a lot. Suffering builds character as they say, so maybe I’ll ascend to heaven body and soul because I put up with The Fl*sh for an hour. I’m also being a little overly dramatic, but that’s just details.
We didn’t start out great though. Oliver, B*rry and K*ra show up in Star City and rather than tell Felicity directly what is going on, Oliver chooses to keep her out of the loop. He feels they have enough problems as it is and he doesn’t want to pile on.
Sure, absolutely. Totally right call, Oliver. More lies are exactly what are required to fix your marriage. Since Felicity is angry about lying you should lie even more, so she trusts you again. Your logic is spectacular. I couldn’t be prouder.
I honestly had a very low bar as I sat down to watch the Arrow hour of the crossover. I just didn’t want to throw things at the television like I had the night before. I did not achieve my goal. The bar was much too high.
I don’t know why Arrow thinks they need to add drama on top of drama. The writers do this all the time particularly with Olicity. It’s not enough Oliver didn’t discuss going to prison with Felicity before he made a deal with the FBI. Nope! He has to make the same mistake again, so the characters are triggered to discuss it in the current episode.
Lying about prison is plenty to work through. Oliver doesn’t need to lie again, so they can talk about lying. One asinine, disrespectful, they’ve-already-dealt-with-this-issue-in-previous-seasons problem at a time please.
Then, Cisco and Caitlin try to pass it off like Ir*s knew immediately B*rry wasn’t B*rry and, once again, this proves they are true soul mates. Felicity immediately feels terrible about herself and her relationship with Oliver because she didn’t realize her husband wasn’t her husband. Maybe their disconnection is even more serious than she realized.
IR*S DID NOT KNOW IMMEDIATELY. She spent the better part of an hour figuring it out. When she wasn’t pawing Oliver like a cat, she was throwing B*rry and Oliver in prison because she thought they were crazy. Oh by the way, one of them was her husband, so she knowingly threw her spouse in meta human jail. She very slowly and reluctantly began to believe them 20 minutes into the episode. Yeah, that’s right. I clocked it.
When B*rry (Gr*nt G*stin) tells her, “No matter what mask I am wearing I will always show you my true face,” and tries to hold her hand she does not grab back (as far as I could tell).
That was a hell of a line. Perfect time for some kissing, but Ir*s is more concerned about B*rry becoming Oliver. She couldn’t bring herself to return any affection from the man she believed was Oliver Queen. Sorry kids, this is not how I define “belief.” But you know soul mates.
Felicity does not spend anywhere near the same amount of time with B*rry and Oliver as Ir*s did.
Source: hollandrooden
They show up in Star City, nobody tells Felicity what is going on, she leaves to work out the lightning problem with Curtis, and the trio heads off to Gotham City.
Source: hollandrooden
Felicity spent 30 seconds with Oliver and B*rry compared to Ir*s’ 20 minutes. Yes, I clocked it again. Maybe if Felicity was given the same amount of time then she would have figured it out too.
Nobody tells Caitlin and Cisco Felicity doesn’t know, so they accidentally tell her about the body swap. Of course, it’s totally insane Caitlin and Cisco assumed Felicity’s husband told her the friggin truth right? *bleeped for barrage of expletives*
Source: hollandrooden
Felicity: It’s not every day that you find out your ex is your husband and vice versus.
Does B*rry count as an ex? I guess they had a mini date and she did wear that dress.
Also there was kissing. Yeah, okay ex it is.
Caitlin tells Felicity she shouldn’t read too much into Ir*s immediately knowing B*rry wasn’t B*rry. (I agree, particularly since she didn’t know immediately.) Caitlin says Ir*s just has more experience with B*rry screwing things up. Okay, she didn’t really say it that way, but she should have. What Caitlin says is Ir*s has more experience with alternate realities. She also shares how Team Fl*sh locked B*rry and Oliver up in jail when they tried to explain what happened.
Felicity: I appreciate you saying that but it’s just another excuse in a long list of excuses for Oliver’s behavior.
Felicity is tired and she should be. Oliver always has a reason for keeping her in the dark, but it doesn’t make it okay. Those reasons don’t excuse all the lying. What Felicity wants, what she has always wanted, is Oliver’s trust and respect.
Source: oliverfelicitygifs
I really love this scene between Caitlin and Felicity because it captures the struggle of marriage so well. Your partner will hurt and disappoint you at some point. We marry imperfect people. A very large part of marriage is learning how to move past the anger and find forgiveness.
There are aspects of my husband’s personality I don’t like, but I know will never change and vice versus. Unconditional love doesn’t require you agree with everything your partner does. It doesn’t mean you can’t be angry with your spouse. However, it does require loving your spouse in spite of the things you don’t like. Unconditional love requires acceptance.
Source: unicornships
This is essentially what Caitlin is telling Felicity. Yes, they have pretty big problems right now, but the only way through it is love. You have to hold on to the love you have for your spouse and let it guide you through the times you don’t like them very much. It’s the only way bridge the anger and separation. This is how you find your way through a fraught relationship.
I am not as angry with Oliver over his lie about prison as I was about the William lie. I don’t believe Oliver’s intentions were to exclude Felicity from his life. I believe he was trying to protect her and, to some extent, himself. Oliver knew Felicity would convince him not to go to jail and at the time he didn’t see any other way. At the end of the day, his actions were heroic even though they hurt Felicity in the process.
However, Arrow has done an absolutely terrible job of explaining Oliver’s point of view. They’ve never allowed Oliver to verbalize his reasons or even offer an explanation for why he didn’t include Felicity in the decision. The viewers shouldn’t have to get their explanations via interviews with executive producers.
I know we’re all as tired as Felicity is with the lying. However, this isn’t just about Oliver lying. This is about what will never change in Oliver. He will always be the one to fall on the sword. His heroic actions will often be detrimental to his relationship with his wife because those actions require sacrifice. It requires Oliver to put other people and other things before his own happiness. His selflessness won’t always be what is best or healthiest for his marriage.
This is why it’s important they are hashing this out. Oliver hurt Felicity. He shouldn’t have excluded her from the decision, even if he was afraid she’d talk him out of it. Felicity needs to be part of these decisions, so it’s easier for her to deal with consequences. At least then she can feel like she has some control or say in her own life.
Source: hollandrooden
While Oliver was away, Felicity had to become someone else. Oliver left Felicity to the wolves and she had to learn how to protect herself. She is exploring her concept of morality and justice. Something Oliver has done a million times.
However, when Oliver returned home and saw firsthand how Felicity has changed, she wasn’t treated with the same respect, trust and unconditional love she’s shown Oliver all these years. Felicity encouraged Oliver to find another way, but she was never judgmental about it. Felicity believed in Oliver no matter what.
Felicity’s darkness still pales in comparison to Oliver’s. She may be exploring the moral grey, but it in no way compares to Oliver’s forays. Felicity was greeted with disbelief and, “This isn’t you,’ admonishments instead of understanding and love.
As I said, I have no problem with Felicity owning a gun, but I didn’t agree with how she used the gun in “Unmasked.” Oliver may have cause to be concerned, but he wasn’t asking the right questions to help Felicity. He was focused on what she was doing rather than listening to what she had gone through. Felicity trusted Oliver even when he was dropping bodies on a weekly basis. His judgment felt like a lack of belief and trust, which he has never felt from her even in his darkest of moments.
After spending some time as B*rry All*n, Oliver realizes he may have overreacted a bit to the changes in his wife.
His speech is monumentally important for several reasons. Oliver has acted like a supreme jackass for the better part of seven months. He lied, excluded Felicity from decisions in her own life, and then judged his wife for the decisions she made in his absence. Homeboy needed one hell of an apology. As I said in the Watchover podcast this is bases loaded, two outs, bottom of the ninth, and in the last game of the World Series. Oliver needed to man up and be the husband (and superhero) Felicity deserves.
As speeches go, this is a spectacular one. If you are a long time Arrow fan, then you know this another role shift for Oliver and Felicity. Typically, it is Felicity fixing problems with a grand speech. She’s the one who expounds on how long and how much she loves him. It doesn’t mean Oliver loves Felicity any less, but he is more quiet and simple in his declarations.
Source: oliverfelicitygifs
Not this time. This is really the first time Oliver has tried to quantify his love for Felicity. Oliver finds the English language falls woefully short as he tries to explain how much he loves Felicity, . There isn’t truly a word for how much he feels for her.
Felicity is on edge when Oliver begins talking. He tells her everything will be okay and acknowledges people change. However, none of that eases her anxiety or anger. It’s only when Oliver reassures Felicity his love for her will never change that we see her relief. Oliver may be right about all the other stuff, but what hits home for Felicity is his unconditional love. We can see how worried she was that the person she is becoming is going to cost her Oliver. What Felicity really needed to hear was that could never happen.
It’s also one of the first times Oliver’s love declaration is focused on Felicity. I love his vows, both sets.
However, when Oliver is telling Felicity how much he loves her in these moments he focuses on the impact she’s had on his life. It’s a lot about what Felicity’s love has done for him rather than what he feels only for her.
It’s not bad thing. It’s doesn’t make his vows any less powerful or amazing, because Felicity has had a life altering effect on Oliver. However, I don’t believe this was the kind of speech Oliver needed to make in this moment. He needed to focus only on Felicity and how he feels about her.
Source: oliverfelicitygifs
And Oliver does focus on Felicity. BIG TIME. His judgment is gone and in its place are respect, love and understanding. Change is not a bad thing. Oliver understands as life goes on both Felicity and he will become different people, but no matter who Felicity becomes Oliver will always love her. He marries every version of Felicity Smoak, now and forever.
Of course, we knew Felicity is the love of Oliver Queen’s life. Hearing him say the words is another thing entirely though. Oliver quantifies his love for Felicity just as she has done for him.
Felicity made it clear she fell in love with Oliver the moment he walked into her office. I suspected as much, so I never tire of hearing Felicity say this.
I also believe it took Oliver longer. He didn’t know what to make of Felicity Smoak at first.
She sparked something foreign, yet familiar inside of him. Oliver came alive again when he met Felicity, but he didn’t know what it meant until later. Oliver fell in love slowly and then all at once.
“Love of my life” puts a stamp on his relationship with Felicity in a way Oliver has never done before. There never was or ever could be another woman in Oliver’s life who he loves more than Felicity Smoak.
The petty side of me is also gleeful because when LL used this same terminology Oliver greeted it with silence.
There is a vast difference between love and in love. LL stands at one of the spectrum and Felicity Smoak the other.
Source: felicitysmoakdaily
There is only one worth living for though and this is what Oliver is declaring. Felicity will always be Oliver’s life no matter who Felicity becomes. He will always choose her.
Trust is Felicity’s love language. Apologies don’t mean as much as Oliver’s belief and trust. So, Oliver saying he loves every version of her, and will be with her no matter what, is exactly what Felicity needs to hear. Oliver is giving Felicity the same love, trust and belief she’s always given him. This is the kind of husband and superhero she deserves.
If Felicity is going to continue to examine her morality, and I think she should, then Oliver needs to give her unconditional love so A) she has the freedom to explore a darker side and B) so he can pull her back if she crosses too many lines.
Source: felicitysmoakdaily
Oliver and B*rry have not switched back yet. Felicity believes she’s married to Gr*nt G*stin and the man standing before her, Stephen Amell, is not Oliver Queen but B*rry All*n. However, as Oliver speaks and Felicity listens to his words and hears the emotion in his voice, she knows it is him. Felicity knows this is her Oliver.
Source: oliverxfelicity
She whispers a sweet and soft, “Hi,” in recognition of who he truly is and then Felicity kisses him. I love how soft hellos are Oliver and Felicity’s way of reconnecting and reassuring. What was there in the beginning is still here today. What is most important remains unchanged.
It doesn’t matter to Felicity what body Oliver is in (although this was a serious upgrade, let’s be real). She recognizes her husband anywhere.
What I love even more is Felicity initiates the kiss. There is no reluctance or hesitation. Felicity embraces her husband and accepts everything about him, as he has with her.
They are both becoming different people (Oliver quite literally at this moment), but the love that binds them remains intact and will for the rest of their lives.
HERE ENDETH THE CROSSOVER!
Yeah, I’m not kidding. We could stop right here. I care about nothing else. Here’s another kissing gif. *munches on popcorn*
Source: oliverfelicitygifs
Flash Mitch Leary shows up and interrupts Oliver and Felicity’s much needed make out session though. Probably would have led to sex.
Way to go Flash Mitch Leary!
Because I do. Screw you Flash Mitch Leary.
Did you notice Felicity clung to Oliver even though he’s technically still in the wrong body? All we do is win fandom!
Source: oliverfelicitygifs
Mr. Let’s Lay off the Public Displays of Affection doesn’t seem to mind at all. Oliver has no problem with PDA. It just depends who he’s PDA-ing with.
There are a few smaller moments in the crossover which shows us the miracle Felicity Smoak has been for Oliver Queen’s life. Oliver and B*rry are comparing notes on all the ways they’ve over simplified each other’s lives. B*rry has underestimated all the pain Oliver has survived. Oliver believes B*rry’s life is easy.
Oliver: B*rry I always thought you had it easy. Sunshine and rainbows… everybody likes you.
Stephen’s reading of “everybody likes you” is spot on perfect. Oliver is a little envious of the way everyone just accepts B*rry. Through the entire crossover Oliver has been the odd man out. He even remarks, “I guess I’m running alone,” when Kara zips off with B*rry to Gotham. Everyone has been taking pot shots at Oliver and stripping him down to his most basic and unpopular attributes. He’s a dark and hopeless man who fuels his anger via a mask and calls it heroism.
This is not the Oliver we know or Felicity knows. She is one of the few people who took the time to look beyond the surface to see the deeply good man underneath.
Felicity has always believed in Oliver’s light. She’s always seen the hero Oliver truly is and his ability to inspire hope. Her belief is what made Oliver believe. He became that man because Felicity Smoak loves him.
This is why the unconditional love they share with each other is so important. Even among “friends” Oliver is treated with condemnation and judgment. Felicity is a rare gift and Oliver knows it. So, he chooses to give her the same unconditional love she’s given him. Oliver experiences the loneliness of judgment and never wants Felicity to feel alone with him. This is how you bridge the gap and build a marriage which will last until “death do us part.”

The Trashing of Oliver Queen
The theme for this year’s crossover is “Trash Oliver Queen.” It was two hours of nonstop dragging.
Source: stephen-amell
The only reprieve we are given is during the Arrow hour of the crossover. At least those writers somewhat understand his character. Let’s run down the comments shall we?
"Oliver's life is completely defined by anger and vengeance."
"Please don't become Oliver Queen."
“Deck him B*rry! What? He’s a jerk.”
“Oliver Queen, the man who channels his hubris and anger and calls it strength.”
“One time Oliver cheated on his girlfriend with her sister.”
There’s probably more, but that’s plenty.
Ir*s spends the majority of The Fl*sh episode terrified she’s married to Oliver Queen or B*rry will become Oliver Queen. Since it is the female protagonist making all these statements about Oliver Queen, it is simply accepted as truth.
What’s worse is Oliver doesn’t act like our Oliver. Ir*s says Oliver is defined by anger, so he has over the top temper tantrums. I’m not saying B*rry wasn’t insulted too. However, when Oliver gets his digs in at B*rry he’s yelling. B*rry refuses to engage and walks away. This reinforces everything Ir*s has said about Oliver. It feels like the writers are saying, “See? We’re right! He’s just a horrible, dark, muscle bound hulk of angry. Isn’t B*rry so much better?” It’s disgusting. This is character assassination. Plain and simple.
It is so bad it became distracting. I couldn’t appreciate some of the genuinely funny moments because I was too busy fuming.
I mean, B*rry is telling K*ra how slutty Oliver was back in the day.
Source: olivergifs
Alright, this was a tiny bit funny, but why are we rehashing the Sarah/Oliver/Laurel debacle? IT WAS TEN YEARS AGO.
This is all an effort cast Oliver in a terrible light, while K*ra and B*rry gloat over it because he’s Gandhi and she’s Mother Theresa. Here’s a hot tip: If you are trying to get Arrow fans to watch the other shows then don’t insult their favorite characters.
The Oliver being described in this year’s crossover hasn’t been around since Season 3. In fact, it feels like neither The Fl*sh nor S*pergirl writers watched an Arrow episode after 3x02. I am willing to acknowledge Oliver has some anger, but he has not been controlled by it or fueled by it for YEARS. I’m not talking a few episodes or a season. I’m talking actual years of character growth being ignored to write this bullshit. SEVEN YEARS to be exact.
Oliver is defined by the love he has for his wife, son, team and city. This is a man who is willing to sacrifice everything for the people and city he loves. If Oliver was merely fueled by anger and vengeance he would have been done or dead years ago.
In Defense of Oliver Queen
Oliver suffered unimaginable nightmares for five years. He was tortured. Every single person he ever loved either died for him or because of him. He could never fully trust anyone. He had to make life and death decisions every day. He had to forge himself into a weapon, strip himself of his humanity, to survive.
The process in which Oliver Queen became the Arrow and the process in which B*rry All*n became the Fl*sh are night and day. B*rry was struck by lightning. But Oliver? Oliver became the Arrow through sheer force of will. He worked for it, trained for it and bled for it. His survival depended on it.
B*rry didn’t lose himself when he became The Fl*sh. Oliver had to stop being Oliver Queen. He had to stop trusting. He had to stop believing. He had to stop hoping. He had to stop caring. He had to stop loving. He had to stop being a person. It was the only way for him to survive. Humanity was just another thing that could kill him.
And yet, despite everything Oliver suffered, he retained his goodness. He fought his way back from the depths of hell and held onto his humanity. He found a way to love and hope again. Oliver Queen is a miracle.
This incessant need The Fl*sh has to compare B*rry to Oliver is a foolhardy endeavor. There is no competition, but writers confident in their character don’t need to trash another one to feel superior. Maybe The Fl*sh has to insult Oliver Queen because deep down they believe their hero doesn’t measure up. It makes me wonder because I’ve never seen television writers treat the characters that launched their show so terribly – and yes I include Felicity and Diggle. Oliver is written as a violent monster, Felicity is a ditzy bimbo, and Diggle could care less B*rry erased his daughter. Every time I watch an Arrow character on The Fl*sh they are a stranger to me.
I don’t know y’all. This all feels like a massive inferiority complex.
Arrow has clearly shown there is a light in Oliver Queen just as inspiring as B*rry All*n’s or Sup*rgirl’s. Oliver has evolved far beyond the man who came home from Lian Yu. He isn’t Season 1 Oliver no matter how hard The Fl*sh and Sup*rgirl try to characterize him that way.
He has evolved far beyond dough. Oliver is a baked cookie Felicity gets to munch on and enjoy.
In fact, Oliver’s heroism is what inspired B*rry to become the friggin Fl*sh to begin with!
Yeah, that’s right Fl*sh people. I am not letting you forget your fave is a spin off launched from ARROW. No matter how much you trash Oliver Queen it isn’t going to erase history. The DCTV universe became a success because Arrow is a success. This is like pretending Ironman had nothing to do with Marvel’s movie franchise. Give me a friggin break. RESPECT YOUR ELDERS.
We also have to deal with severe continuity issues. Ir*s tells Oliver (who she thinks is B*rry) about how angry Felicity is he cut a deal with the feds without discussing it with her. Oliver looks shocked to hear this.
Source: oliverxfelicity
SHOCKED.
Oliver knows Felicity is pissed about him going to prison. He’s known it for seven months. If Oliver forgot then it was explained to him again during the massive fight he had with Felicity about it last week. It is clear The Fl*sh writers have not watched a single episode of Arrow this year, which is just aggravating.
This is all evidence to Ir*s that Oliver is a horrible person and she is so grateful she married Rainbow Brite. There is absolutely no way she could be married to Oliver Queen. Listen, cutie why don’t you take your moral condemnation and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine?
I seem to recall Rainbow Brite, aka B*rry All*n, made the exact same decision a few seasons ago. Didn’t B*rry go into the speed force without discussing it with you? Sure he did. In fact, Mr. and Mrs. Gold Standard went to couple’s therapy over it.
If there’s a storyline on Arrow then chances are The Fl*sh has copied it. I would be careful with the examples of how awful Oliver Queen is because I can match you example for example with how awful B*rry All*n is. At least Oliver pays for his mistakes.
If these characters had said Oliver’s life is completely defined by anger and vengeance during the first crossover (and they did) I would have said this is an incomplete picture of him. However, I could understand why someone who just met Oliver would feel like it is true. But we’re in SEASON SEVEN of Arrow. These people have fought side by side together for four years.
Ir*s’ attitude towards Oliver doesn’t even make sense. She was at his friggin wedding while he was bursting with sunshine and moonbeams. Ir*s knows Oliver is a good man, so this is equally an assassination of her character as well. But what else is new on The Fl*sh?
Even B*rry’s reactions to Oliver’s interactions with Ir*s are insane. He tells Oliver not to touch Ir*s. When Oliver assures B*rry he hasn’t he responds with, “You thought about it.”
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? NO HE HASN’T. All Oliver has wanted from the second he woke up was to go back to his own bed where his REAL wife is.
The one climbing Oliver like a tree is Ir*s. The fact Ir*s is attracted to him isn’t a surprise to Oliver.
Source: supercanaries
This is not a detail she’s kept quiet over the years, but is also not something Oliver has encouraged.
He practically glued himself to Felicity anytime Ir*s came near him.
Source: supercanaries
Oliver is frozen with shock and horror she acted on it. This was not the face of a man who has “thought about it.” Take up your insecurities with your wife Bartholomew and leave Oliver out of it.
However, if we’re talking about who “thought about it” then I submit this as evidence.
Source: amunetblack
Spot the difference? This is the face of a man who is clearly enjoying himself. If there’s anybody thinking about touching his friend’s wife then it’s B*rry. Not Oliver. I don’t think either of them “cheated” but what annoyed me is the only one we’re commenting on is Oliver. B*rry, you dated Oliver’s wife. You’ve had TWO non platonic kisses. You are lucky to be alive. So, let’s cool it with the accusations.
Frankly, this year’s crossover feels like a retreaded ground. This argument B*rry is light and Oliver is dark was one made in the first Arrow/Fl*sh crossover. Both men had to learn and appreciate the kind of hero the other was. All the lessons B*rry and Oliver are learning this year are ones they’ve already learned. Only this time B*rry and Oliver have to switch lives. This is what running out of ideas looks like.
I mean, come on y’all. They actually had a scene where B*rry is held hostage, but convinces Oliver not to kill Deegan because “there’s a better way.”
Source: olivergifs
WE. DID. THIS. EXACT. SCENE. IN. SEASON. 2.
I cannot even with this nonsense.
Oliver stopped killing in Season 6!!! But it’s because of B*rry Oliver decided to find another way.
Unbelievable.
Do I think Oliver is going back to “I’m full of darkness” during the regular Arrow season? No. I don’t. We’ll go back to our regularly scheduled programming. Oliver will be our Oliver, complete with all seven seasons of character growth, and acting like the man we know and love. What happened in the crossover is all ridiculousness to sell the crossover story, which is continuing into “Crisis on Infinite Earths” in the fall of 2019.
If you think I am overreacting to how The Fl*sh characterized Oliver’s character then I would simply ask you to flip it. How would you feel if Felicity was talking about B*rry the way Ir*s spoke about Oliver? How would you feel if all of B*rry’s mistakes were dragged? How would you feel if the other characters believed B*rry’s selfishness represents everything he is? How would you feel if Arrow ignored five years of B*rry’s character growth? How would you feel if the other characters responded to B*rry as anything other than the hero he is? How would you feel if this wasn’t the first time B*rry All*n was insulted guest starring on Arrow? Methinks you would have a problem with it.
I am a little disappointed in myself for being so surprised. This has been a problem on The Fl*sh for a very long time. This behavior never happens on Arrow, I might add. The Arrow writers do not insult and trash B*rry’s character, so Oliver can look morally superior. So, thank you “Elseworlds” for reminding me why I stopped watching The Fl*sh. The writers are incapable of being respectful towards the character that launched their show.
What Did Oliver Promise?
Oh Lord Oliver. Why do you have to be so damn heroic all the time? It is highly problematic.
Source: olivergifs
I didn’t pay much attention to the plot, because the plot made no sense.
Source: clevercloudpoetry
This was fine for hours one and two, but then crap actually started to matter during hour three.
I couldn’t understand why people were freaking out online about what Oliver promised. If you’d like to hear my realization in real time then listen to the latest episode of Watchover.
Oliver: You said I’d past the test if I knew my true self. Well, my true self is filled with darkness, but B*rry and K*ra are different. They inspire hope. They inspire people because they are the best of us.
Did Oliver promise his life to the Monitor in exchange for those ungrateful twats, B*rry and K*ra?
Source: @olivergifs
You bet he did.
This is why they are trashing Oliver so much in this year’s crossover. Oliver will sacrifice his life and B*rry, K*ra & Co., will realize he was a true hero all along.
I might have to start saying a rosary to get through this.
OR they could have simply treated Oliver like the hero he is and the plot in the crossover would have made sense. I’m just brainstorming here. Don’t want to get too crazy with the ideas.
Source: someone-like-robsten
Yup. Oliver will be a hero because of B*rry kids.
Oliver is not so subtle alluding to exchanging his life for Barry’s, hence his “I’ll get there some day,” but the line irritates me because this whole crossover irritates me.
Arrow has been moving Oliver toward a more defined moral code. He’s becoming the light for Star City. However, everyone acting like there’s been no character growth in this man for the last 7 years simply to sell this “Oliver is going to die” storyline in the crossovers is pure madness.
This dovetails nicely into the flash forwards doesn’t it? Essentially “Elseworlds” confirms, or at least heavily hints, Oliver dies and everything goes to shit because of it in the future. Well played, Beth Schwartz.
Are they going to kill Oliver? Yes, but it won’t be permanent. I mean, just say it out loud with me and you’ll hear how ludicrous this sounds.
Oliver dies during the “Crisis of Infinite Earths” or sooner. Felicity raises their children on her own. Star City goes to hell in a hand basket in 20 years. Felicity becomes an evil super villain determined to destroy the city and then she’s murdered.
HERE ENDETH THE SHOW.
No. Absolutely not. I reject all of this. This is what Arrow (and the crossovers) are telling us happened, but these are same people who said Oliver is all darkness. So pardon me if I find their word suspect.
I believe there’s a high likelihood Season 8 could be Arrow’s finale season. In the midst of all this trashing of Oliver Queen, there also seems to be a consistent “passing of the guard” mentality. B*rry and K*ra are the heroes the world needs and Oliver is a piece of crap that kills people with arrows. It’s all in an effort to disentangle the Arrowverse from Arrow and Oliver Queen. Then they re-center it around B*rry All*n.
If Season 8 is the final season then Arrow just spoiled how their show ends. Oliver dies. Everything goes to crap in the future, but then his band of legacy heroes save the city 20 years later. Is it possible? Sure, absolutely. A hero’s journey can end with death, but announcing it or heavily foreshadowing like this takes away the shock factor.
This is classic diversion and red herrings. The writers want the fans freaking out Oliver is going to die while they are doing something else entirely. This reminds me a bit of Season 4. Everyone was so busy worrying about Felicity dying, and the red herrings pointing to her death, that nobody was noticing how Arrow was setting up Laurel’s death at the same time.
Yes, they are setting up Oliver’s death.
Source: olivergifs
However, they also set up Oliver’s happy ending.
He wants to hang up the hood and live in peace with his family. The point of the “Elseworlds” promise is for Oliver to sacrifice his happy ending so the world can have the true heroes like B*rry and K*ra fighting for it. However, Oliver sacrificing his happy ending proves he’s just as selfless a hero as they are. But balance I guess.
All the “Oliver is darkness” nonsense is so heavy handed too. When Arrow introduces plot lines like this so early on, basically telling us how it all ends, then I give it major side eye. If Season 8 is the finale season then they aren’t telling us how Arrow ends a year before the next crossover.
So what is “Crisis on Infinite Earths?” Here’s a link explaining it more in detail, but essentially an evil version of The Monitor begins destroying the multiverse. Let’s call him Satan Monitor. A bunch of superheroes die and there’s only one universe remaining at the end. Satan Monitor has a side kick named Psycho Pirate. This is the masked man talking to the professor in Arkham. “Crisis on Infinite Earths” is also when B*rry All*n disappears (which has been a major plot point on The Fl*sh) and Sup*rgirl dies in the comics. This is the sum total of my knowledge.
We are supposed to believe the Green Arrow sacrifices himself for the universe and this is the ending of Arrow. However, “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will air in the fall of 2019. This is the beginning of Arrow’s 8th Season. Not the end. The other crossovers have always aired in the winter. They are not killing Oliver Queen in the beginning of Season 8. Nope. Not happening.
The fact they are threatening to kill Oliver so early is good for us. We always want the premiere and mid season to be a shit show, so we can get a happier ending in the finale. Consider the last time Oliver “died.”
Things worked out okay for him in the end.
And yeah, that’s also my hang up. They’ve already written the perfect death scene for Oliver Queen. It aired four years ago. Been there. Done that.
The Monitor: Are you truly that eager to die? No, not eager, but willing. Ready to.
Oliver willing to sacrifice himself is not a shock. This is not a man who fears death. When Oliver returned to Starling City, he did not expect to survive. He thought he would come back, save the city, but die in the process as some kind of atonement for his sins.
As the season progresses, Oliver’s humanity begins to return and he becomes more and more attached to those he loves. This creates a struggle for him because he does not expect to live. This is why he told Tommy as he died,
So, it’s tough for me to see death as the ending for Oliver Queen. Yes, it’s possible. I won’t deny that, but I feel it is the more unlikely scenario. Particularly since the writers are heavily hinting at Oliver’s death and want us to be worried about it.
David told a fan at HVFF San Jose the flash forwards are one of the possible futures and we’d understand more in the crossover.
@callistawolf and I were so confused because this is directly opposite of what Beth had said in interviews. TV Guide said Beth, “…confirmed that this is a fixed future, so we don't need to worry about B*rry All*n (Gr*nt G*stin) turning up and resetting the timeline or anything.”
However, went I looked back at her Collider interview that’s not exactly what she said. She merely confirmed this future is not connected to Legends and the characters don’t know what happens in the future.
Is this a fixed future that we’re seeing, or is there the possibility that they can change things?
SCHWARTZ: This is not connected to Legends. This is our own future. They don’t know what happens in the future. Legends is like that and The Flash is like that, but on Arrow, they don’t know. This is very much for the audience. They don’t know what’s happening to them, in the future. It’s better that they don’t know.
She dodged answering the “fixed future” portion of the question. I have yet to find an interview where Beth comments on permanency. Sorry, David. We were wrong to doubt you.
We’re thinking whatever happens to Oliver is fixed during next year’s crossover. Maybe Oliver dies in the Season 7 finale as a fulfillment of his promise. Whatever happens during “Crisis on Infinite Earths” could trigger a change in the flash forwards. Right now, they can kill Oliver and explore what Star City is like without the Green Arrow in the flash forwards. If Star City has gone to hell then obviously this proves the Green Arrow is needed in the world, because he is also a true and inspiring hero. Oliver ultimately survives “Crises on Infinite Earths” and is able to save his city in present day. Then we are given a totally different future.
How are they going to fix it? I have no idea. Superman was ushered off to his happy ending with a pregnant Lois. So, maybe he comes back and exchanges his life for Oliver’s. Not sure. I’m just spit balling here. There’s lots of X factors I can’t answer, but this gives the Arrow writers the chance to write both an unhappy and happy ending. We don’t have all the details worked out. Maybe Oliver dies during “Crisis on Infinite Earths” and is brought back another way. It’s totally possible Oliver promised something other than his life too.
However, they want us to believe Oliver Queen is going to die so I wouldn’t expect to see him in the flash forwards any time soon. But it makes no sense to kill Oliver Queen at the end of Season 7 or the beginning or middle of Season 8, when we know Arrow still has a whole season to film and Stephen Amell is under contract.
The big question is does Oliver tell Felicity what he promised? I want to say yes, but I’m not holding my breath. Oliver’s heroic actions tend to run counter to his happy life with Felicity. Do I imagine there’s a world in which Felicity will be okay with Oliver sacrificing himself for B*rry and K*ra? NO. It’s the same issue we had with the prison arc. I absolutely think Oliver should tell Felicity, but I just don’t have confidence he will at this point. Hopefully, I am wrong.
Stray Thoughts
Stephen Amell and Gr*nt G*stin have amazing chemistry. They are the perfect straight and funny man team. There are genuinely hilarious moments throughout the entire crossover, but most of the funny occurred during The Fl*sh hour. Stephen Amell truly cracked me up. I wish I could have enjoyed it more.
I'm still comfortable with my hot dog meets sperm description for Stephen in The Fl*sh suit.
Are B*rry's abs photoshopped too? I have questions.
"There's no way I could be married to Oliver Queen. I mean babe come on. He's not my type." This gag will never get old for me. I love it.
Oliver going all alpha male around Superman is the realest thing about this crossover. Source:olivergifs
“I think a night in jail would do them some good.” HAHAHA Bl*ck S*ren left Oliver in jail for the night. Classic.
Oliver’s pettiness over Batman will never not be funny. Source: dailydcheroes
Kate Kane is awesome. Something about her suit bugs me though. Can’t figure out what. Source: veronica-lodge
Joe Wilson is a scarier villain in the two minutes he had on screen than Diaz has been in a season and a half.
I like how Felicity refused to dumb her genius down for Diggle. He is so in the dog house with her. Source: felicitysmoakgifs
Who is going to tell Sup*rgirl she is gay or bi? Because she is. There was a lot of flirting coming from Batwoman and K*ra D*nvers didn’t seem to mind at all. Don’t even get me started on her chemistry with Lena Luthor. So yeah. Somebody tell her. Facts are facts. I’m with you SuperCorp! Source: amunetblack
If we’re talking Oliver’s worst fear I’d pick Adrian Chase over Malcolm Merlyn, but whatever. Nice to see you again John Barrowman.
I love how they showed how good Oliver is with computers. Nice moment of continuity from the Arrow pilot. Source: oliverfelicitygifs
Arrow filmed a whole new opening with Gr*nt G*stin, but was Stephen Amell afforded the same on The Fl*sh? NOPE. It was weird.
I think Sup*rgirl got the shaft story wise. She spends all her time refereeing B*rry and Oliver. I think we could find better uses for her character.
Jimmy Olson has facial hair and nothing makes sense anymore.
Is Dante alive in this reality? If not, maybe don't bring him up B*rry.
Is Superman getting his own show too? This is a lot about Superman. (Superman proposes to Lois and they move to Argo to raise their love child.) Nope. Superman is not getting his own show.
I think if you can make your own diamonds you could go at least 4 carats Clark.

Scandal Finale Season ep.2
🗣I. AM. SHOOK.
Girl, tonight’s episode was directed by our beloved TonyG aka Tyrone .... he did that! I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. These are moments I picked up on and stood out to me. So it’s not gonna technically be a full detailed , play by play review, but still enjoy!
Ohhhh baby baby , baby baby: We open up with Olivia looking for her purse *cackles* Sis got the D and was ready to GO! Curtis on the other hand is laying in bed pleading his case on how he is worth more than creep visits 🤦🏽♀️ smh when will these men learn? Olivia Pope doesn’t want intimacy, affection, over night sleeping, unless it is with Fitzgerald Thomas Grant. Curtis hun , stay in your lane and just supply the D when called upon🙄🗣 next!
Next scene is a tour guide showing citizens around the White House and talking about the upcoming state dinner, also a “pool” being reconstructed was mentioned. 👀☕️
Olivia goes to her office and it’s “Mr. Vice President” Cyrus starts to talk about Olivia is being Formal with him like they weren’t friends, we all know Liv gets formal with people when she means business. She’s established a wall.
Now I’m just gonna run thru these next scenes Abby brought David lunch so he could get QPA invites to the state dinner.-Abby gets the invites and takes tickets to QPA- Olivia and Mellie walks down the hall discussing how they are going to get the President Rashad/Rashaad to sign a nuclear treaty. Lol Black people spell it as Rashad while as this man , from the Middle East probably spells it Rashaad 🤷🏽♀️. - QPA is shown getting ready for the Dinner, Huck is nervous because he says he doesn’t know how to communicate well with others (normal people) and Abby dress is so pretty! But what stood out in this scene to me was when Huck asked Abby if she missed the White House and before she replied the “OG Gladiator” song started playing in the background and I knew she was gonna say that being a gladiator was where she belonged or something similar and I was right because she said “ I prefer being a gladiator” ME: 🤧😭 yes Abby!
🗣Mellie needs the D, she wants a vibrator , her lady parts are getting cobwebs 😂😂😂 listen when Mellie started going on about how she needed some D I fell out laughing! Olivia ain’t right she getting some D why she ain’t tryna sneak Mellie in some part time D 👀☕️ cuz both yal mans in Vermont sooooo 🤷🏽♀️
Olivia: “I know, it’s lonely” 😭😭😭 Yal can’t know how broken Olivia looked in that moment, it was such a vulnerable moment and I can’t believe she displayed it in front of Mellie. It was as clear as day that Olivia Carolyn Pope has been/is missing Fitzgerald she damn near was choking on those words 😩🤧 Fitz where are you!
After that vulnerable moment we see Olivia walking towards the renovated pool. ( which lowkey was a closet that had a secret passage that opened up to an underground pool.) Joke is down there fixing the place up and he makes a smart comment about how the person who built that place felt safe in his pool, because outside he was confined to a wheelchair. In water was the only place he felt he could fly, to be free. Ummmmm if that’s not Olivia Pope! Because we all know Liv’s safe place is the pool😩 Liv I see yu boo, and I hear your cries!
Next are scenes from the State dinner, Charlie was feeling out of place, Huck was too and then later he ended catching an assassin lol only Huck, Liv’s new play thing was there tryna make her jealous and get her attention, David lowkey made a move on Abby (held her hand, in a romantic moment👀) and I fully support them getting back together should they go down that road again!
Some other things happened but it wasn’t anything major to me but it added to the overall episode! Ok now I think the last 10-15 minutes is where things get Juicy 😜!
I really thought they were gonna let Mellie and the President hook up , homeboy was being really flirty and he definitely was with it and when I say Mellie would’ve jumped down on the D.... she gone start a war for the D....sign a peace treaty for the D ...she gone make it leak for the D 😂😂😂😭😭 lmaooo ok I’m sorry! But seriously Mellie was about to hop on him but she shook it off and homeboy was like 😏 I look forward to working with you in the future 😝 get that D Mellie girl! You deserve 😂😂😂
David tells Abby they are good together 😏
Lmaooooo Quinn slapped the entire fuck out of Charlie 😂😂😩 she thought he was breaking up with her (they didn’t!)
“Hi.”🤧
It never cease to amaze me how one damn word can send me over a fucking cliff! Olivia ends up taking the new boy toy home, they kissing on the elevator and as soon as the door opens they backing up and I saw Fitz‼️ *pause* yes you read it right! Code red, code blue! I repeat this is not a drill 🗣ITS FITZ BABY! I screamed so loudly! 💃🏽💃🏽‼️‼️ *twerks* (🙌🏽can I just SPEAK on how goodT Fitz was looking? Damn Vermont is treating him ohhh sooo well 🤗🤤🤤)
Now mind you they still kissing Olivia ain’t turned around or nothing , but Curtis opens his eyes and he lowkey pushes Olivia off him she turns around and BAM! Fitz hit her ass with a “HI.”
She was shook! 😯
I was shook! 😧
Hell you was shook! 😦😵😂😂
💃🏽🤗 big daddy came to town and finna put shit down! When I say I’m on cloud 10, cuz next weeks episode gone be so lit I can’t wait! Lmaooo can you imagine how QUICK she finna dismiss Curtis in the opening of next weeks ep? Olivia to Curtis:🗣bitch bye my man here, you’re dismissed! Lmao or what if Fitz plays it cool and be like “I see your busy, I’ll catch you another time.” 😩 she gone so fuckin distraught if he did that!
Fitz literally said “Hi” and me and Olivia melted! How dare he 🤦🏽♀️ lawwwd I can’t wait next episode all about 😍Fitz💃🏽♥️ this is the kind of Scandal content I signed up for‼️
-Chaun 💋

In the six decades since The Temptations began, as we’re told near the end of the latest Broadway jukebox musical “Ain’t Too Proud,” 24 men have performed at one time or another as members of this R & B quintet. Even the “classic five,” as Temptation fans call them, were not all involved at the beginning, when Otis Williams got a group of his Detroit homeboys together, and snagged a recording contract with Berry Gordy’s Motown Records.
The Temptations, in other words, is less a band than a brand – one that has sold 25 million records worldwide, turning out 17 top 40 pop hits, among them four that made it to number 1: “I Can’t Get Next To You,” “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone,” “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)” and arguably their biggest earworm, “My Girl.” Others include “Get Ready” and the song that gives the show its title, “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg.”
“Ain’t Too Proud” is an extension of the Temptations brand. It’s subtitled “The Life and Times of The Temptations,” but it would be more accurate to label it The Songs and Smooth Moves of the Temptations. Those are the reasons people will want to see this show, and these are the aspects of the show that will most reward them. The 31 songs are largely peak Motown (and include some hits from the Cadillacs and the Supremes; see song list below) Sergio Trujillo’s choreography is a thrilling upgrade of the group’s trademark dips, snaps, splits, sways and twirls. The performers are talented enough as singers and dancers to be members of the actual Temptations — original, classic or replacement — and they can act too.
Derrick Baskin portrays Otis Williams, who was the founder of the group, and the only surviving member of the classic five. The musical is based on the 1988 memoir that he wrote with Patricia Romanowski entitled “The Temptations,” and he is credited as the executive producer of the show. It makes sense, then, that Otis is the narrator. The story, shaped by librettist Dominique Morisseau, is told from his point of view.
But it’s not just his story. Ain’t Too Proud wants to tell everybody’s story – the classic five, sure, but also those whom they replaced, and those who replaced them, as well as their neglected families. We see their struggle to keep together and get to the top, bickering with each other all along the way. We also see how fame and life on the road take a sometimes tragic toll on each individual’s health, their equilibrium, their relationships, their family life. Paul Williams (James Harkness) drinks too much and dies young, his death ruled a suicide. There’s one scene where all but Otis are freebasing cocaine. In a nod to the promise of the subtitle, there are also scenes that reflect the contentious times: While riding on their tour bus in the South, they’re shot at by racists. There is much thought-provoking back and forth about the requirements, restrictions, and resentments involved in being crossover artists.
This all-inclusive approach has two stumbling blocks. The general outline of rising to the top and falling from grace, feels overly familiar. And with so many songs and so many incidents to get through, there is little time to keep them from coming off as generic. The proceedings can feel rushed, the transitions jarring. Not long after one of the Temptations announces that Martin Luther King Jr. has been assassinated, followed by a quick relevant montage accompanying the song “I Wish It Would Rain,” we see the group sitting in their dressing room, looking morose. But the reason why they’re morose is because David Ruffin, a terrific singer but a screw-up, is late, and they want to kick him out of the group. Mourning finished; we have to move on.
In fairness to “Ain’t Too Proud,” it’s hard to come up with a single example in tbe rapidly replicating subgenre of jukebox bio-musical that has done full justice either to its subject(s) or to the art of theater. The one that comes closest is probably “Jersey Boys,” Des McAnuff’s first foray into the genre as a director. He is also the director of “Ain’t Too Proud,” and of last year’s “Summer.” The saving grace of these shows is their function as showcases and training grounds for some terrific performers.
The show’s savviest move is in the casting.
Jeremy Pope, who just made an impressive Broadway debut as the lead in Chorus Boy, carries forward the lesson he learned on how both to stand out and blend in for his portrayal of Eddie Kendricks. Rashidra Scott lets loose as Josephine, Otis’s put-upon first wife, with “If You Don’t Know Me By Now.” She is a veteran of five other Broadway musicals, including “Beautiful,” a jukebox that several other “Ain’t Too Proud” performers list in the bios. Jawan M. Jackson gives us the silky deep bass of Melvin Franklin, aka Blue. Jackson made his Broadway debut in Motown The Musical, which also cast Ephraim Sykes. Sykes has also performed in “Memphis” and “Newsies” and “Hamilton,” as well as NBC’s production of Hairspray Live as Seaweed J. Stubbs. As David Ruffin in “Ain’t Too Proud,” Sykes steals the show, with moves that astound, and sounds to die for. That he commands attention seems to fit the character he’s playing. Even after the unruly Ruffin is kicked out of the group, he pops up on stage to perform with the reconfigured group in a series of ambushes. In one of Otis’s cornier lines, he says: “David was getting addicted to the worst drug of all: The spotlight.” May the performer who portrays him maintain this addiction for many more years – and shows – to come.

Q-Ball is an espionage/martial arts thriller with explosive fight scenes, written by Mike Baron and drawn by Barry McClain
The first order of fiction is to entertain. Comics can be smart. Steve Rude’s and my creation Nexus has won every industry award, gone into multiple printings, and is a staple of libraries everywhere. Comics portray martial arts poorly, focusing on elegant poses rather than intricate fight choreography.
It has been my lifelong mission to change that, first with Badger, then with Kato and Bruce Lee, now with Q-Ball, which I co-created with Denver artist Barry McClain. Barry is an explosive artist who is just getting started. Barbara Kaalberg is an amazing inker. Charlie Hogg is our talented colorist and letterer.
Our audience used to pick up Master of Kung Fu or Iron Fist hoping for a glimpse of real kung fu. Q-Ball is more than fight scenes, it is also an exploration of character, a romance, and a spy story.
The first issue is finished. It is stunning. One glimpse of the art alone will be enough to sell this project.
We’re going the Kickstarter route because the starving independents have pinned all their hopes on movie franchise characters and no longer accept original concepts.
Q-Ball story is about Detroit homeboy Curtis Ball joined the Merchant Marine and ended up managing a warehouse in Manila. Curtis wanted only two things out of life: to see the world and study Kali/Escrima. But when a pack of tuxedoed sharks muscle their way into his warehouse, Curtis learns the hard way that it’s not always smart to mind your own business. The spooks are looking for Donna Wing, a beautiful Chinese blogger, forced to flee due to her exposes of human rights abuse. Now Curtis and Donna are on the run—from the Chinese government, the tongs, and a group of international cutthroats who will stop at nothing to stop them from reaching the United States and spilling their guts. Sometimes you have to spill some guts to spill your guts.

Rebuilt: Arrow 5x22 Review (Missing)
"Missing" was amazing! Emotional and action packed with zinging dialogue.
What struck me most was how full circle it was. "Missing" sets up the heroes versus villains battle that will come to fruition in the finale, but it also kicks off the basic question Oliver must ask: What makes a hero? What makes a villain? Those concepts are not always rigid. In fact, the very essence of hero and villain is fluid.
Oh... and did I mention there's an Olicity reunion scene?
Let's dig in...
Olicity and OTA
The Throwing Star killer is in prison and Oliver Queen's approval ratings are in the 70th percentile. (That's how you know it's TV. If there's a politician in my lifetime with that high of an approval rating I'm just assuming it's the apocalypse.) Seeing both personas, Oliver and the Green Arrow, get the credit each deserves and Oliver being treated for the hero HE IS makes me want to run up mountains and sing songs.
The battle is won. Let’s party.
Quentin wishes Oliver a happy birthday because heart strings.
Source: olivergifs
Did y'all notice the size of that gift? Think about where these men began and where they are now. What I love about Oliver and Quentin is how similar they are. Both men are hard shells, but once you crack it it's nothing but ooey gooey center. Oliver has earned Quentin's respect, trust and forgiveness. Quentin sees Oliver as the honorable man he is and put a motherf*****bow on it. IT MAKES ME FEEL THINGS Y'ALL.
Thea and Oliver take a minute to recap her emotional trajectory. They recall the last time Arrow celebrated a birthday - Thea's 18th birthday. Do you remember? It was a lifetime ago. Thea got a new car, did some Vertigo and crashed it. Good times.
But it led to THIS!!!!!
I miss Roy.
Anyways, Oliver talks about how far Thea has come because he reads my mind. Thea laments that she doesn't think she's come quite far enough. Oh... my sweet honey child. Let the pain go!
I am all ready to give Thea a pep talk, but Oliver "I Am 32 And Emotional Evolved" Queen steps up to the plate.
Source: olivergifs
Tear.
Oliver Queen, you have been through some shit but you have seen the light my dear boy. This is hard earned character growth. Now go get your girl.
Thea wants to take Oliver out for his birthday. QUEEN SIBILINGS FOREVER. Oliver has plans. Oh? You don't say?
"Please say not Susan Williams."
Thea summed up Susan William's entire character arc for me in a single sentence. And did I almost see a shudder come from Oliver? Perhaps it's wishful thinking, but he at least gave a good awkward stammer. In fact, no dear sister, dinner is with Felicity Smoak. You know, the human equivalent of a rainbow, forever light of Oliver Queen's life, future mother of his children and your nieces and nephews. That Felicity Smoak.
As for Susan Williams, come Thea girl, pull up a chair because you have MISSED THINGS. Particularly the glorious break up in which Oliver dumps Susan's ass because, once again, he's not sure he can have a relationship and be the Green Arrow. Meanwhile, Felicity asks him over for dinner and homeboy falls over himself sprinting to the loft, but that's just details. I totally believed him about Susan. It was all concern about safety, balance, blah blah. Nothing to do with the urge to chew his arm off post coitus.
I'm sorry. The snark just flows. I can't stop it.
Thea wants to know if it's a date.
Source: amanitacaplan
She was always with us fandom. Thea never lost faith. Check her pocket. I half expected Thea to hand Oliver Moira's ring, slap him on the back and say, "Go get her big fella." Also, somebody needs to fic this scenario.
Oliver plays it casual. Date? Pfft. What date? It's not a date.
Maybe it's a date. Could it be a date? Dear God, let it be a date. Oliver is praying to the higher power like Are You There God? It's me, Margaret.
Thea doesn't believe him. Nobody believes you Oliver. You lack zero chill with Felicity. The heart eyes run deep my friend. Just embrace it. You can't change.
Of course, it's the surprise party which leads to Oliver putting Curtis on his back. This never gets old. A+ comedic reactions from everyone involved.

Oliver blows out the candles on his LORD MESA cake.
Source: legendsofcomics
The shout out to this man, who is an genius and absolute gift to this fandom, is so freaking earned. I cheered. @lordmesa-art brings us all a lot of joy with his artistry. He absolutely needs to be Arrow canon. I love when Arrow goes meta. There's a Green Arrow with the #6 the arrows in the target - a celebration for their Season 6 renewal of course. Take that haters! Don't bitch at me about ratings. Seriously. Enough. The explanation for the 6 is Felicity ordered the cake for a six year old. She thought a Green Arrow cake for a grown man would raise alarm bells. That... makes a lot of sense actually. Our girl is so smart.
So why is Arrow celebrating Oliver Queen's birthday now after all these years? It's not simply because there's a lull in the action. This is about how far Oliver Queen has come, especially in these last few episodes. When Oliver came home he wanted to keep everyone he loved at arm's length. He shut down the very essence of who he is, his humanity, because Oliver believed it was required to protect those he loves, save the city and honor his father. In the end, Oliver discovered the exact opposite was required to be the Green Arrow.
He had to open himself up to family
friendship
and love
to become someone else... something else. That's how he took the darkness used it for light.
It hurt. A lot. Oliver has been to hell and back. He's faced the very worst parts of himself and came out the other side.
Oliver has learned to honor truth over lies, team work over control, love over loneliness and forgiveness over self hatred. These past five years, Oliver has learned how to choose home over the island. He's not just surviving. Oliver Queen is living. I cannot think of a better way to celebrate that evolution than his 32nd birthday. Oliver has been reborn.
Source: legendsofcomics
Everyone takes a moment to talk about what they are going to do with their summer vacations. Television shows are set up exactly like school. Where is the lie? Diggle wants to go fishing with JJ. Curtis wants to go to Florence. And Felicity...
Source: felicitys
The subtle look she shoots Oliver is not so subtle.
If you would like to see a man become a rainbow - this is what it looks like.
As for Oliver, he just wants some socks.
Source: bazingagubicorn
Source: felicitys (I love this gif)
What’s to know people? He's gonna stop at Target, grab some socks and condoms, on the way to a night under the stars with Felicity Smoak. He's a simple man. What else does Oliver need when he has his whole world looking back at him?
Picking up on the sexual tension/feels overload Team Arrow makes themselves scarce. Well, except for Curtis. He pulls up a chair and grabs a bowl of popcorn. This on top of his epic shipper spiral post party.

Curtis is me on a deeply spiritual level. Ship it hard my brother.
Diggle, Captain of the Olicity ship, actually wants to make this reunion to happen though so he physically removes Curtis.
Source:oliverdant
And we're here.
Source: legendsofcomics
When Arrow began Season 4 they had every intention of breaking Oliver and Felicity up. The moment Oliver lied about William to Felicity in 4x08 we knew that's where we were headed. However, I always believed Olicity would find their way back to one another. Arrow has been slowly and steadily rebuilding what they broke. It has been a long and hard road, but they are here. We are here.
Find My Way Back by Eric Arjes
One step closer
Closer to the light
No matter where we're going
I'll be by your side
And everything we used to know
Crashed into the great unknown
One step closer
We're gonna be alright
I love how simple this moment is. Love feels like an inertia out of our control, but the truth is, it is a choice. For those wondering how Olicity could ever get back together, it always boiled down to this: once Oliver and Felicity faced their issues, dug deep and dig the work, then all that remains is the simple choice to begin again. Love isn't always marked by a lot of fan fair. Most of the time, it's the quiet moments that define you. The moments when you look into the eyes of the person you love and say yes. Yes to trying again, to forgiveness, to rebuilding what was broken... one step at a time.
Source: amanitacaplan
Oliver came to the loft, dressed in a suit, hoping this was that moment but uncertain if it was. Felicity acknowledges the ruse and team's desire to give them alone time because of it. All of Team Arrow just wants them to have all the babies.
I love how bold Oliver is in this moment. My boy gets his flirt on. He wasn't certain what the dinner meant, if it was about alone time for them, so he just... ASKS. It's so freaking fantastic. There was a time when Oliver would have talked around something like this, or choose not to address it or simply let her go. Not this time. Not ever again.
Oliver stumbles at the word date, his nerves getting the best of him, and I believe he didn't want to put too much pressure on Felicity. However, this is a man who isn't afraid. This is open and honest communication. He doesn't hide what he was hoping dinner meant. Oliver is charging through that door Felicity opened in 5x20.
And Felicity, so sweetly and with a gentle little wink, confirms Oliver's hope because it's her hope too. Felicity says yes to trying again, but slowly. There's no rush to the altar here. She wants to be sure they are solid, so they never break up again. That means taking things slow. A walk under the stars, hand in hand, one step at a time, together.
This exquisite, beautiful, warm and loving light lives in Oliver Queen and Felicity always harnesses it. I often say Oliver Queen is the sun the other characters revolve around. With Felicity's answer, Oliver becomes pure sunshine.
And there it is.
The moment David Ramsey promised at HVFF. The moment Marc confirmed we were building towards in July. A simple, quiet, open, honest, forgiving, and most of all loving, yes. This is how you repair what is broken. This is Olicity rebuilt.
I was so happy with 5x20. It was everything I ever wanted from Oliver and Felicity for the past five years. Whatever came after was always just going to be icing on the cake for me. What I love about this moment is how builds off of everything 5x20 established so perfectly. The moment Oliver celebrates his life with his family, he and Felicity decide to start their lives together again. If I'm being honest, it's satisfying AF. This moment is EARNED y'all.
Cause even underneath the waves
I'll be holding on to you
And even if you slip away
I'll be there to fall into the dark
To chase your heart
No distance could ever tear us apart
There's nothing that I wouldn't do
I'll find my way back to you
Felicity senses Oliver isn't quite at ease and questions him about it.
Oliver immediately leaps to the conclusion that she's talking about them (because that's all he can process right now) and jokes about dating his ex-fiancé.
THIS CUPCAKE. He's so scared to put an official label on it, but he wants to so desperately.
No Oliver, you love sick fool. It's not hypothetical. This is real. Embrace the joy my friend. She came back to you.
I expect the fandom to abuse this gif.
Source: gothsmoak
Oliver learning how to relax while being the Green Arrow is still a skill he has to master (*cough*fivemonthtimejump*cough*)
and I love how Felicity encourages him to chillax - bad socks and all.
So let's talk about the tie loosening. I refuse to see that as anything but Felicity beginning to undress Oliver right then and there. Coupled with night under the stars and eye sex,
Source: olicityloyalty
I feel it's pretty clear where Felicity thinks the next step should be.
Alright, it's pretty clear where I think the next step should be.
I'm not going to argue that Oliver doesn't frequently need his bottle uncorked, but he also has great instincts. These instincts kept him alive for the last ten years, they are almost other worldly. They also make him a pain in the ass too, but overall his instinces are helpful. Oliver knows something is up in his gut. It's no different than feeling a rocket a hair trigger before it explodes or someone sneaking up behind him. But he wanted to believe. Oliver wanted to war to be over, to be happy and just live so he let his guard down. He ignored his gut.
The gun scene was as adorable as I hoped it was,
but I wasn't anticipating yet another emotional reconnecting moment between Oliver and Felicity. Dinah and Curtis are gone and Felicity is rightly concerned about the League of Assassins. They be crazy. So, our girl is ready to hunker down and operate comms remotely. Oliver's response signals just how far he's come and how much he's grown.
Source: oliverxfelicity
Felicity stays put. Right next to him. Exactly where he can see her. Didn't you love the part where Oliver reassures bae that Talia Al Ghul and her LOA flunkies can bring it? Oliver will handle business. Felicity doesn't need to be afraid. He won't let anything happen to her.
Confidence is so sexy in a man.
Oliver knows he needs Felicity by his side if he has any chance of stopping Chase. He's not pushing her away. He's not trying to handle everything on his own. Oliver is admitting he needs Felicity's help. He needs HER.
It seems Oliver isn't the only one looking for a little firmer confirmation on status. Felicity wants to know if Oliver's motivations are simply tactical or is there a little more to it? Girl... you are his lobster. Come on now.
Source: oliverxfelicity
Oliver immediately tells Felicity the truth which is OF COURSE it's not just tactical. Oliver ignored his gut and not only is his team in danger, but so is his son.
Source: klarolicityswan
I love how William is just an open, honest and natural subject for Olicity now. Felicity tries to reassure him, but Oliver rightly corrects her out that while her assurances are appreciated there's no way either of them can know for certain if William is safe. And since Chase is crazy pants, Oliver feels it's highly unlikely that he is. (Gotta trust those parental instincts Oliver. They are seldom wrong.) Essentially, Oliver is telling Felicity that by allowing those he loves out of his sight made them vulnerable to Chase. He will not make that mistake with her. HE. WILL. NEVER. LET. HER. GO. AGAIN. Y'all I am emotional.
Except... then Quentin and Thea are taken. What follows is yet ANOTHER emotional scene not only with Oliver and Felicity, but with Diggle. Oliver finally realizes that Chase is taking away his strength, his team, to leverage his freedom. Oliver wants Diggle and Felicity to get out of town, which is meant with strong opposition particularly by Diggle. John will not abandon Oliver, but Oliver doesn't look at it that way. Chase is slowly picking off Team Arrow one by one. Felicity and John are the only two left and they are the foundation of the team. Oliver operates on instinct, but he fears that instinct is what is putting Diggle and Felicity in danger. Oliver depends on John and Felicity. If Chase threatens them, and he will, Oliver's instinct is to pull Diggle and Felicity close. His instinct was to send Thea, Quentin and William away. His instinct was to allow Curtis, Rene and Dinah to operate business as usual. Every choice, every instinct, Oliver has followed Chase has used against him. So, Oliver is mixing it up. He's going to directly opposite of what his heart tells him to do and send John and Felicity away.
Felicity doesn't want to leave. She's worried about Oliver. So, now it's time for Oliver to reassure her. If he's not worried about her, then he can focus on Chase and finding the others. If Felicity leaves then he'll be safer. This argument proves how well Oliver knows Felicity. She won't put her safety above Oliver's, but she will listen to him if she believes this keeps him safe.
Source: tinaday3w
But even then, neither of them wants to let go. They hold hands like they've done many times before,
as circumstance forces them to separate,
their eyes conveying everything they are feeling in the moment-
that be apart is the last thing either of them wants.

The problem is, Chase wants Oliver to doubt his instincts. He wants him to rethink everything that feels right. As Diggle and Felicity are driving away from the city, Felicity's instincts tell her they were wrong. They've over thought this. They should have never left him alone. SHE should never have left him.
Felicity's right. She's always right. A LOA flunkie shows up with two swords which leads to a hilarious Delicity moment as they recall their encounter with Isobel Rochev.

Emily Bett Rickards and David Ramsey's comedic timing is always stellar. I need more. All the time more.
Unfortunately, car versus murderous woman doesn't go exactly like it did with Isobel Rochev. Diggle and Felicity's car crashes and then IT EXPLODES. Not gonna lie, I screamed many screams.
DO NOT DO THAT TO ME MARC GUGGENHEIM. THOSE ARE MY CHILDREN. WE DO NOT BLOW UP DIGGLE AND FELICITY'S CAR. THERE ARE RULES ABOUT THAT SORT OF THING.
But they are totes fine, so I could breathe again. I mean... they aren't ever going to kill these two, but I'll never be okay with the threats of it. Unfortunately, Diggle up against several LOA members isn't a fair fight even with those bowling balls for arms. Diggle and Felicty are taken... and Oliver is left to fight Chase and save everyone he loves alone.

OR IS HE ALONE?
Malcolm Merlyn
My hatred of Malcolm Merlyn runs deep.
Primarily because Malcolm sees himself as the hero and not the villain. This began over love for Malcolm. He was once a good and loving husband and father. Losing Rebecca shattered the man Merlyn was and he forged himself into someone else... something else. Love beget grief. Grief beget revenge. Revenge beget a lust for power. At every turn, Merlyn has operated in his own self interest, but firmly believed they were righteous and for the greater good. Merlyn unleashes evil and believes it is love. That's the level of sociopath we are dealing with here.
Merlyn is the reason Robert Queen died.
He's the reason Oliver ended up on that island.
He killed Tommy.
He used his OWN DAUGHTER
as the weapon to kill Sara Lance.
Merlyn sent Oliver into a death trap into Season 3 to save his own hide.
He put Thea in Ra's Al Ghul's cross hairs, which is how she wound up on a ventilator.
Merlyn served William up to Damien Darhk like cheese and crackers.
He was an active participate in Laurel's death (I'm not really mad about that though, but let's just add it to the list).
All of these crimes have gone unanswered on Arrow. Essentially unpunished. Sorry folks, a hand doesn't cut it for me. Ha! Cut it. Get it?
There's a reckoning coming Malcolm Merlyn and it is long past time.
We haven't seen much of Malcolm Merlyn this season and I think it was a wise choice. The character, in my mind, is the new LL and has run his course. If they are bringing him back then it needs to be for an intended purpose and Arrow made that purpose wildly clear.
Merlyn has been busy this year though - on Legends of Tomorrow as part of the Legion of Doom. He partnered with Damien Darhk and Eobard Thawne to alternate time and change the world to their liking. However, I was always struck by what that meant for Malcolm. Both Damien and Eobard were after power essentially, but not Merlyn. His altered reality meant Rebecca and Tommy were alive and Thea adored him. He's still Merlyn though - he got revenge on Nyssa Al Ghul by making her life a closeted life in Ohio. Malcolm admitted to Sara however what he was searching for: a clean slate. He wanted all his mistakes, the pain and the death that came with them, jus wiped away. He didn't care if it wasn't real. What Malcolm wanted is redemption without the sacrifice.
So, this redemption arc was kicked off but if you weren't watching Legends then you didn't see it. Except, what does redemption really mean for Malcolm Merlyn? Is it really achievable? Yes, I think redemption is possible for all characters, but the desire has to be there. The willingness to make a sacrifice is what counts. That's why Merlyn's arc on Legends ultimately failed. He wasn't willing to do what is necessary to really make amends.
What is necessary isn't erasing all that he's done. It's facing it. It's making a different choice. Essentially, that's the only difference separating a hero from a villain - choices. It's why it's such a fluid concept. A hero can become the villain as easily as the villain can become the hero. While I doubt I will ever be able to call Malcolm Merlyn a hero, I do believe Arrow is setting him up to make a sacrifice. Which is the essence of heroism and what is required for redemption.

But first we gots to hash out some issues. Oliver and Merlyn go toe to toe over a lot of things, but first up is William. Oliver is still pretty ticked over Merlyn handing his son over to Damien Darhk. Oliver used his angry voice talking about his son. It felt warm suddenly.
Merlyn's concern is Thea. Malcolm never loved Tommy the way he should have. Tommy was never more important than his revenge. He rejected Tommy in every way. However, Merlyn's arc on Legends finally showed a desire to go back and change that, which we never saw before. Merlyn is prepared to do what is necessary to save his daughter. Even if it means helping his enemy.
And Oliver isn't exactly in a position to refuse his help. I know some may have issues with Oliver teaming up with his enemies like Malcolm Merlyn and Slade Wilson, but I love it. It's incredibly full circle. Oliver has spent years building this family. It's pretty fantastic that to save his family he must work with all the villains who've tried to destroy it over the years.
Oliver and Malcolm have it out giving into Chase's demands. Merlyn is flabbergasted that Chase even needed to take Felicity and Diggle. He felt Thea was sufficient motivation. He's prepared to do whatever is necessary to save his child - a concept Oliver should be more familiar with now that he has William. However, Oliver's concerns run deeper than Chase not holding up his end of the bargain (something Merlyn is an expert it). Once again he worries that his personal connections are making him vulnerable. He has to become something else to protect them and he will never be free of it. Oliver will never be free of the darkness.
And here we go again.
This is an old tune from Oliver Queen. I won't harp on him too much. Chase did manage to take everyone he loves, so I'm not entirely shocked Oliver has a brief moment in which he reverts to form.

This might be the single greatest line Merlyn has ever spoken and one of the truest things ever said about Oliver Queen. My precious big dumb oak tree.
Merlyn: Human connections are what keep us human. It is sad that it's a sociopath who is gonna have to point this out to you. You can't live on an island Oliver. You've already tried. You are always going to have people in your life, Oliver. They will always need you. For better or worse. Baggage and all. And if you can't accept that then your past is going to stay your anchor.
Round. Of. Applause.
I hate the bastard, but when he's right he's right. It sounds completely out of character for Merlyn, but does make some sense given his arc on Legends. Merlyn pushed away human connection after Rebecca died and he has FINALLY learned the cost for those sins. If Oliver wants to beat Chase, and Merlyn's goal is to beat Chase in order to save Thea, then both of them have to do things differently - but especially Oliver.
He's tried it the other way before. Oliver tried to go it alone. That "something else" never quite measured up into what was needed until he let people back into his heart. Until he allowed his humanity back in. There will never be a time where Oliver doesn't have people he cares about. He cannot shut off. He cannot isolate himself. He will lose. This much is fact. Nor can he allow the darkness to take the driver's seat. Oliver will lose the part of himself that makes him human - everything Diggle, Felicity, Thea and the team love about him. Then he'll be left alone again. It's a cycle. The only way to break it is to become SOMETHING ELSE. Be different. Embrace his humanity. Hold to those connections. That's how he wins.
And really, nobody knows this better than Malcolm Merlyn because doing the direct opposite is how he lost everything that mattered. Malcolm Merlyn is the one who sent Oliver to the island. So it's fitting that he is finally helping Oliver get off it. All it takes is a different choice and the villain can become a hero.
Even Malcolm Merlyn is rebuilding what he broke, which means... Malcolm Merlyn is going to die. I am absolute on this. They've set it up perfectly, what's more, I believe it needs to happen. Thea is still holding on to the fear that she's a monster - just like her father. What greater gift can Merlyn give Thea than by showing her the monster of her life can choose to do the right thing? Merlyn's death pays the price he's always avoided. It also may be the very thing Thea needs to be free from the past and find hope in herself again.
William
William plays an extremely integral role in "Missing" because, as Oliver explains:

Arrow was never about one thing. It was never just about LL, L*uriver , Olicity or OTA. I think no matter which spectrum of fandom we're on, if we only focus one or two segments of the story then it leaves the potential to miss very important pieces that ultimately feed the segments we care about.
Arrow, at its core, is about family. This story began with a father and a son. We are here because of Robert Queen's sins and because of the love and faith he had in his son. For ten years, Oliver has been struggling with his father's legacy, what his dying wish truly meant and the guilt of Robert's death. Oliver shouldered the weight of Robert's sins while being weighed down by his own.
The next step in Oliver's evolution is to no longer just be the son. He must become the father. The point of the legacy theme is to rebuild what was broken so many years ago. Oliver's mission cannot be only focused on Robert Queen anymore. It has to grow beyond the past and look to the future.
William.
Oliver is right. William is the purest part of him. He retains the innocence Oliver lost all those years ago on the boat. More than anything, Oliver wants his son to keep that innocence. He wants him to be safe and untouched by the darkness both Oliver and Robert have battled. But no matter where William is, he will always be Oliver Queen's son. He will always be Robert Queen's grandson. William will always be part of this family and part of this cycle. If Oliver wants to break it, if he wants to save William from paying for his sins (like Oliver paid for his father's sins), then he has to become someone else.... something else.
Source: olivergifs
This scene is heartbreaking. Stephen Amell makes me feel all the feels.
All Oliver wanted was to keep his boy safe. To make sure William never became like him. Chase took that away. So, now William is the one on the boat. He's trapped in a world he doesn't understand and paying for sins that are not his fault.
Robert tried to stop it. He tried to protect Oliver from his sins. He failed. All Robert could offer Oliver in the end was the chance to survive and to do it better.
This is the another chance to do it differently. To do it better. Maybe the most important chance. Oliver can no longer be mired down in the past.
Source: olivergifs
Adrian Chase is the dark mirror to Oliver. He is what Oliver can become if he never lets the past go. Every step since 5x17 has been Oliver letting go of the pain, guilt, shame and anger. Every moment has prepared Oliver for this battle. For this choice.
Oliver has to hold onto the lessons he's learned, what he knows to be right and allow his humanity to make the calls. Oliver needs William as much as he needs Felicity. As much as he needs Diggle and Thea. This is the love that pushes Oliver past the dark into the light. This is the love that makes Oliver fight for the future. Oliver's love for William makes him a better man and a better hero. A man and hero worthy of Felicity Smoak.

It's why Oliver is willing to work with Malcolm Merlyn and Slade Wilson. The past no longer matters. All that matters is his future and he's willing to whatever it takes to protect it. Oliver also knows to win, to truly save his son and everyone he loves, he has to do it differently this time.

I think this flashback actually foreshadows Prometheus' demise. Oliver won't kill him, but I don't think Chase will have the stones to face justice. He'll do what Oliver refused to do. Chase will kill himself.
Bl*ck Sir*n and Quentin Lance
Okaaaay she's back. Truthfully? Pretty minimal scenes. She kidnapped Quentin and Thea. The end.
Although, I do enjoy KC as Bl*ck Sir*n. She plays a good villain. And Paul Blackthorne's reaction to seeing "Laurel" was out of this world. Break me into a thousand pieces sir!
There's certainly an effort to add some layers. BS owes Chase and wants to protect Quentin, so... she kidnaps him?
The promise is Chase won't hurt Lance. Had me a nice chuckle when Lance called her stupid. BS gets to express some "she's not all villain" emotion. BS says it's equally hard on her to see Quentin as it is for Quentin to see her. So... this probably means Quentin is dead on Earth 2. Okie dokie.
Are we headed for a redemption arc? Eh. I don't know. Honestly, the reason Arrow says they brought KC back was because they enjoyed her performance as BS. I know the LL fandom wants Arrow to turn Laurel 2.0 back into Laurel 1.0 but the reason Laurel 1.0 died is because the character ran her course. So, there's no need to retread that old ground. Also, Laurel 2.0 is not Laurel 1.0 so can we just accept reality?
The best thing Arrow has going for them with BS is that she is a villain. This plays to Katie's acting strengths and gives Arrow new ground to explore. I truly don't think they are in any rush to evaporate these positives.
Flashbacks
YAO FEI!!!!! Oh Yao Fei how I missed you. I don't even care that you were a manifestation of Oliver's guilt and urged him to commit suicide. I will take some Yao Fei anyway I can get it.
Imaginary torture. Well, that is one way to go Kovar. I'll give the guy credit. He did have Oliver's number. Emotional pain is far more torturous to Oliver than physical pain. This results in a series of flashbacks to remind us all that the past five years were of the suck for Oliver. Yeah, I didn't really forget that.
I like that Kovar gave Oliver a gun to commit suicide. Oliver killing himself is ultimate defeat and that's what Kovar wants. It's also a very nice callback to Oliver's first few days on the island. This isn't the first time he's considered suicide.
But then Oliver hallucinates Laurel. Well look at that. Flashback Ollie actually remembers Laurel!
Better late than never I guess. They have to connect it with the pilot. Oliver has to give a crap about Laurel again, so Arrow took a break from all the Felicity foreshadowing in the flashbacks. It's fine. We all know where their "love story" goes.
Oliver envisioning Laurel as his hope and salvation, begging him to come home when in reality he gets this when he does come home
basically sums up this hot mess of a television relationship for me.
Those were dark days my friends. Glad they are behind us. Huh. Snark is full on. KC being back might be fun after all.
Stray Thoughts
Lyla has a sister. Huh. Cool. Diggle's reassurance to Oliver (aka US) that Dyla is okay is appreciated.
Kovar nailed the Catholic belief on Purgatory. Wave to me from heaven y'all because that's where I'll be for awhile.
Oliver's attractiveness in his attractive brown leather jacket is very important to me.
Only Josh Segarra can look threatening in that color of yellow.
Quentin Lance trying to process how messed up it is that LL has a doppelganger is so me.
Malcolm hand jokes never get old.
"Not yet but soon." Josh Segarra added another level to the Chase creepy factor - this sounded exactly like John Doe from Seven Deadly Sins. I still have nightmares about that movie.

I've missed this goddess.
Call back to Legends of Tomorrow! Ra's told Nyssa where to find Sara because Sara told Ra's to tell Nyssa where to find her. Let that little time loop simmer on ya for a minute. Although, I'm confused. I thought in S2 Nyssa found Sara in a market place starving. I need a Sara Lance/Nyssa Al Ghul flashback episode like yesterday.

They all arrived by plane. Interesting. Methinks that Chase is planning on eliminating those means on escape. Perhaps, he expects to leave with Oliver after he destroys everything that matters? I also thought it was a little hint to Oliver of where his loved ones were. Things that make you go hmmmm.
"I'll cover you. Really." CLASSIC
I feel like Curtis should never go anywhere without backup. That should be a team rule.
"I thought you would have tagged your pets by now." Malcolm never stops being a supreme dick. It's one of the few things I enjoy about him.
Didn't you love all the preview clips promoting Bl*ck Si*n's return?
Maybe because there were only two scenes they couldn’t release any clips. Hehehe. I jest.
