Peace-building through Art: Cultural Initiatives in Southeast Asia’s War-affected Regions
by Emancip8 Project
Tumblr media
Promoting peace in war-torn regions is an intricate and multifaceted endeavor. Southeast Asia’s history of conflict presents unique challenges to peace-building practitioners. One innovative approach that has gained traction in recent years is the utilization of cultural initiatives and artistic expression to foster dialogue, healing, and social cohesion. This article examines the impact of art in peace-building efforts across Southeast Asia’s conflict-affected areas, highlighting the transformative power of creative expression in building lasting peace.
Cultural initiatives play a crucial role in addressing the deep-rooted grievances and traumas that arise from armed conflict (Cohen, 2005). Art, as a non-threatening medium, can enable individuals to explore and express complex emotions, fostering empathy and understanding between different groups (Lederach, 2005). In Cambodia, for example, the Amrita Performing Arts organization has developed contemporary dance performances to engage local communities in dialogue about the country’s violent past, while also preserving traditional art forms (Amrita Performing Arts, 2014).
Moreover, artistic expression can provide a platform for marginalized voices, empowering individuals to advocate for peace and social change (Boydell et al., 2014). In the Philippines, the Mindanao Peacebuilding Institute Foundation (MPI) has implemented community theater projects that enable Muslim, Christian, and indigenous communities to share their stories and perspectives, fostering mutual understanding and respect (MPI, 2017).
Art-based peace-building initiatives also contribute to psychosocial healing in post-conflict societies (Van der Brug & Verduin, 2012). The power of art to facilitate emotional expression and catharsis is particularly significant in communities affected by trauma, as it can help individuals process and make sense of their experiences. In Indonesia, for instance, the Center for Survivors of Violence and Torture has used art therapy to support survivors in their recovery process, promoting personal healing and reconciliation (Van der Brug & Verduin, 2012).
Furthermore, cultural initiatives can contribute to the development of social capital, promoting resilience and cohesion within communities (Kaplan, 2009). In Myanmar, the Turning Tables project has provided youth with music production and storytelling skills, enabling them to express their hopes and aspirations for peace while strengthening community bonds (Turning Tables, 2018).
Lastly, art can serve as a medium for peace education, promoting values of tolerance, nonviolence, and mutual respect (Boulding, 2000). In Thailand’s Deep South, the Patani Arts Space initiative has engaged local youth in art workshops and exhibitions, fostering a culture of peace through creative expression and dialogue (Patani Arts Space, 2016).
In conclusion, art and cultural initiatives offer a valuable and transformative approach to peace-building in Southeast Asia’s war-affected regions. By engaging communities in dialogue, empowering marginalized voices, facilitating healing, and promoting social cohesion, these initiatives contribute to building sustainable peace in the region.

honestly i think the most that can be assumed from hornsent wearing the caterpillar mask is that hes okay with the jarring process, since it has such heavy connections to bonny village+the gaols, plus i think itd make an interesting parallel to marika where you have these two traumatized characters who lost everything to horrific acts of violence whod them go on to condone OTHER horrific acts of violence just because it happened to The Other Guy (hornsent losing his family to the crusade, being okay with jarring shamans cuz its an important ritual of his people and he desperately struggles to retain any last connection he can to them; marika losing her family to jarring, sending messmer to crusade against the hornsent without caring about his methods just so shed have her vengeance)
theres even something to be drawn about marika from how hornsents quest ends ("if miquellas redemption would quell the desire for revenge i feel, then i dont think i want him to redeem anything after all" <-poorly summarized dialogue lmao) wherein, combined with the shaman village lore, we can draw the parallel that marika didnt *want* her thirst for vengeance slaked, because much like how killing messmer didnt bring back any of hornsents people, becoming a god was equally disatisfying for marika. in much the same way marika tramples over corpses to become a god, hornsent metaphorically walks over messmers corpse to try and take his place as crusader, this time against the people of the erdtree.
it also paints messmer in a REALLY interesting light. hornsent is so consumed by revenge he doesnt focus on anything else beyond a nostalgic reminiscence. miquellas goal, as told to him, is to give the hornsent a chance at peace and to rebuild, and hornsent would rather sacrifice that to feed his own flames of vengeance. similarly we can assume marika never told messmer the location of bonny village or the gaols because theyre untouched by the crusade, despite definitely knowing where they are, and the gaols indicate that even after bonny village stopped sending jars, they remained in use by utilizing prisoners (potentially even prisoners of war+deserting soldiers) for at least SOME time before we find them. indicating that also, to marika, it was the death that was important. the fear, and the killing, and the slaughter. messmer by contrast sets up a clinic for the jarred shamans, is capable of being convinced against crusading and burning certain areas such as salza arguing in favor of sparing rauh, and has a library dedicated to the people hes genociding that stores information about their culture and anatomy (judging by the models he has hanging in the storeroom).
messmer, who places himself symbolically between the hornsent and marika to spare her the shame of being the face of the crusade, committing atrocities out of sympathy and love for his mother, vs hornsent who desires to commit atrocities out of an overwhelming need for revenge, vs marika who DID commit atrocities for revenge and desired them to never stop even if it meant losing the things she cared about (despite initially showering messmer with blessings and affection and special physiks, eventually she stopped saying anything at all about the war without grace or honor, and only miquellas prying reveals it all again, including the son she loved and left behind)
like UGHHHH i LOVEEE when characters have foils and you can use the patchwork of lore to help fill in the blanks about everyone theyre connected to
oh Hornsent and Marika are ABSOLUTELY meant to be parallels… both are on revenge quests where their goal is to keep killing and killing until every single person related to their enemy is dead. Marika has Messmer burn the Hornsent cities to the ground in vengeance for her murdered village, but most of these people were civilians, farmers… familes and their children who had probably never even seen a jar — their only crime was to be part of the same society.
Hornsent, though he despises Marika and Messmer for burning his family to death, does exactly the same thing that she did: he vows to kill Marika and ALL her kin, and he goes after us even if we helped him simply because we are one of Marika’s chosen. It doesn’t matter that we gave him scorpion stew and that I’m sure deep down he wants to like us, we were always marked for death in his eyes just because of who we are.
This is exactly the purpose of the caterpillar mask… feeling any guilt or regret about his actions would get in the way of Hornsent’s sworn mission. Hornsent having this mask implies that he had some knowledge of what the potentates did and sought out their attire for their violent rituals as a touchstone for his own violent quest. A lot of people act as if the jarring process was something the entire hornsent population explicitly believed in and supported, and it’s true that the practice is basically built into the society’s entire prison system, but the ritual slaughter and jar worship are implied to be esoteric practices carried out only by specific groups of people… I highly doubt this is a practice that every Hornsent knows of intimately and enthusiastically supports. And we know some did explicitly oppose the jar rituals; the greater potentate who wrote the cookbooks we find was disgusted by the practices of his village. So Hornsent finding and wearing the potentate mask is like him knowingly embracing the darkest, most violent parts of his society in order to use them against their enemies.
Messmer’s position in this story really is interesting because with Hornsent’s quest, he’s set up to be like his “final boss,” the guy who cruelly slaughtered his people and called them savages. But when we actually get to Messmer, he’s so much more subdued then we’d have thought, like an apathetic shell of his former self… he doesn’t even verbally acknowledge Hornsent’s presence, like he means nothing to him. The war against the Hornsent was never Messmer’s war, it was Marika’s. Messmer carried out this violence in vengeance for his mother and her village, but when Marika stops speaking to him altogether, the war starts to feel more and more like pointless violence, like he’s just going through the motions.
I won’t go so far as to say that Messmer had much sympathy for the Hornsent he was murdering; the specimen storehouse was more of a project said to be created by his fire knights who were uncomfortable about letting an entire society’s knowledge go up in flames (but chose to burn it anyway). but he absolutely has a different attitude than his mother… he feels more like her tool… used up and discarded

i have, completely accidentally, finished all of the currently available wuthering waves main questline
meanwhile i still have not touched the 2.2 plot in star rail but shh i'll get that scene finished eventually and then i can start questing
but anyway. obviously jiyan and jing yuan have many similarities (general, initials jy, ponytail, voiced by sun ye, chinese, once knew a guy with white hair who later became a criminal), but jiyan just doesn't quite get to the same level as jing yuan does (also jing yuan showed up for me twice. jiyan has shown up 0 times.)
this will go into jiyan backstory spoilers kind of if you haven't yet seen that part of the main quest, and also tone warning: i'm going to complain a lot, and i am very biased.
but like. geshu lin did nothing wrong change my mind
it's like if the luofu was fighting phantylia and there was no astral express, jing yuan tells the army to guard the frontline with their life if necessary and then goes off to fight phantylia alone, and then the soldiers all have terrible morale so fu xuan decides to have everyone retreat and then jing yuan becomes a criminal for giving that order and fu xuan becomes the general
except fu xuan at least has some higher position in the leadership structure of the luofu, but jiyan does not. jiyan was literally just some random doctor in the army who said "hey what if we didn't lose our lives like we signed up to do and all ran away instead" and for that he was appointed general through magic dragon
it's like the game is trying to take a "war bad" stance at the same time as glorifying the military so they can sell the general and convince people to pull for him
and then (main story spoilers) when you go fight the not-bloodborne boss in the north wilds (i play in cn so i have no idea what anything is called in english) at the very end of the quest, jiyan pretty much does the same thing as geshu lin
he has his soldiers stay back while he goes to fight the big bad and the only difference is that jiyan takes 3 more people along with him and he also has the power of a prophecy on his side
i get that the game is trying to paint geshu lin as this kind of like war crazed general but like jiyan and geshu lin are in nearly the exact same situation here, making almost the exact same decision
i am being told that jiyan is different from geshu lin in some way but it's really hard to believe that when it looks like they're doing the same things
chinese culture doesn't like to glorify leaders who only focus on war and nothing else (see: han wudi, qin shihuang) (note that mao zedong and the cultural changes he brought do not agree with this attitude) and i suppose that's the reasoning for why geshu lin is a criminal while jiyan is fine since jiyan knows when to retreat or whatever, but i do not think the game does a particularly good job of showing that
this inconsistency may have also had something to do with the amount of changes that jiyan's character went through during development, since his (cn) va was originally sang liuze (ratio/neuvillette) (which i think would have fit jiyan better. personal opinion), and was later changed to sun ye, and his character was also originally just supposed to be a doctor in the army without the sudden becoming general part, so to a lot of cn players it just feels like kuro's trying to coast off of jing yuan's popularity
i don't think that's necessarily true but it is definitely affecting how jiyan is being seen in the chinese community
though i will say that despite the whole ???ness of jiyan's decision making process, the not bloodborne boss fight was really cool, and i really liked exploring that area
hsr on the other hand avoids the problem with trying to say war bad but also trying to sell a military general by simply having jing yuan focus on strategy, and clearly placing more importance on outsmarting the enemy rather than throwing people and resources at the enemy until it dies
but anyway. i'm still going to try and get jiyan, since i kind of like his playstyle despite it being burst based, though havoc rover does look cool enough for me to seriously consider using them for as long as possible
right now the game is in the weird place of being so new that i can't take a lot of it seriously, since it's still finding its place in the massive 2d-adjacent mobile game environment, but i'm sure it will either a) grow on me or b) become genshin, where i am a "day one player" but barely touch the game
or a secret third option, where it displaces my star rail addiction to plant a wuthering waves addiction, but i find that unlikely since i don't tend to like open world games as much
i'm excited to see where wuthering waves goes and if it can finally provide a challenge to the behemoth that is genshin
Tumblr media
you know what the actual problem i have with wuthering waves is? when i take a picture with the in game camera and hit save it doesn't actually save. so i'm restricted to screenshots for the time being

Elon Musk just dragged ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence programs into the Trump crosshairs by repeating his warning that current AI models are too “woke” and “politically correct.”
“A lot of the AIs that are being trained in the San Francisco Bay Area, they take on the philosophy of people around them,” Musk said at the Future Investment Initiative, a Saudi Arabia government–backed event held in Riyadh this week. “So you have a woke, nihilistic—in my opinion—philosophy that is being built into these AIs.”
Although Musk is himself a polarizing figure, he is right about AI systems harboring political biases. The issue, however, is far from one-sided, and Musk’s framing may help further his own interests due to his ties to Trump. Musk runs xAI, a competitor to OpenAI, Google, and Meta that could benefit if those companies become government targets.
“Musk clearly has a close, close relationship with the Trump campaign, and any comment that he’s making will hold a big influence,” says Matt Mittelsteadt, a research fellow at George Mason University. “At a maximum he could have some sort of seat in a potential Trump administration, and his views could actually be enacted into some sort of policy.”
Musk has previously accused both OpenAI and Google of being infected with “the woke mind virus.” When Google’s Gemini chatbot produced historically inaccurate images, including black Nazis and Vikings, in February, Musk saw it as proof of Google using AI to spread an absurdly woke outlook.
Musk is clearly no fan of government regulation, but he backed a proposed AI bill in California that would have required companies to make their AI models available for vetting.
The first Trump administration also targeted perceived bias at Big Tech companies with an executive order that sought to hold platforms such as Twitter, Google, and Facebook accountable for censoring information for political reasons. The pressure had a tangible impact, with Meta ultimately abandoning plans for a dedicated news section on Facebook.
Mittelsteadt notes that Trump’s VP pick, JD Vance, has also talked of reining in Big Tech companies and gone as far as to call Google “one of the most dangerous companies in the world.”
Mittelsteadt adds that Trump could punish companies in a variety of ways. He cites, for example, the way the Trump government canceled a major federal contract with Amazon Web Services, a decision likely influenced by the former president’s view of the Washington Post and its owner, Jeff Bezos.
It would not be hard for policymakers to point to evidence of political bias in AI models, even if it cuts both ways.
A 2023 study by researchers at the University of Washington, Carnegie Mellon University, and Xi’an Jiaotong University found a range of political leanings in different large language models. It also showed how this bias may affect the performance of hate speech or misinformation detection systems.
Another study, conducted by researchers at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, found bias in several open source AI models on polarizing issues such as immigration, reproductive rights, and climate change. Yejin Bang, a PhD candidate involved with the work, says that most models tend to lean liberal and US-centric, but that the same models can express a variety of liberal or conservative biases depending on the topic.
AI models capture political biases because they are trained on swaths of internet data that inevitably includes all sorts of perspectives. Most users may not be aware of any bias in the tools they use because models incorporate guardrails that restrict them from generating certain harmful or biased content. These biases can leak out subtly though, and the additional training that models receive to restrict their output can introduce further partisanship. “Developers could ensure that models are exposed to multiple perspectives on divisive topics, allowing them to respond with a balanced viewpoint,” Bang says.
The issue may become worse as AI systems become more pervasive, says Ashique KhudaBukhsh, an computer scientist at the Rochester Institute of Technology who developed a tool called the Toxicity Rabbit Hole Framework, which teases out the different societal biases of large language models. “We fear that a vicious cycle is about to start as new generations of LLMs will increasingly be trained on data contaminated by AI-generated content,” he says.
“I’m convinced that that bias within LLMs is already an issue and will most likely be an even bigger one in the future,” says Luca Rettenberger, a postdoctoral researcher at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology who conducted an analysis of LLMs for biases related to German politics.
Rettenberger suggests that political groups may also seek to influence LLMs in order to promote their own views above those of others. “If someone is very ambitious and has malicious intentions it could be possible to manipulate LLMs into certain directions,” he says. “I see the manipulation of training data as a real danger.”
There have already been some efforts to shift the balance of bias in AI models. Last March, one programmer developed a more right-leaning chatbot in an effort to highlight the subtle biases he saw in tools like ChatGPT. Musk has himself promised to make Grok, the AI chatbot built by xAI, “maximally truth-seeking” and less biased than other AI tools, although in practice it also hedges when it comes to tricky political questions. (A staunch Trump supporter and immigration hawk, Musk’s own view of “less biased” may also translate into more right-leaning results.)
Next week’s election in the United States is hardly likely to heal the discord between Democrats and Republicans, but if Trump wins, talk of anti-woke AI could get a lot louder.
Musk offered an apocalyptic take on the issue at this week’s event, referring to an incident when Google’s Gemini said that nuclear war would be preferable to misgendering Caitlyn Jenner. “If you have an AI that’s programmed for things like that, it could conclude that the best way to ensure nobody is misgendered is to annihilate all humans, thus making the probability of a future misgendering zero,” he said.

How to help the Ukrainian Book Industry
As per usual, I forget to post on Tumblr now a days. Let's talk Faktor Druk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What happened?
Russia launched 15 missiles at Kharkiv. Faktor Druk, a printing house was hit twice (in total 3 strikes in the general area). Last I heard, 7 are dead. 22 are wounded. (During the strike, 50 employees were in the building.)
Tumblr media
Why it matters? Most Ukrainian publishers had books printed there. Every 3rd Ukrainian book was printed there [Source]. You may think "it's only 50 000 fiction books", but no, it includes textbooks. As in, kids might not get any textbooks, because who else will print them when most books are printed in Kharkiv?
"The printing house Faktor-Druk is part of the Faktor company group, which also includes the renowned Ukrainian publishing house and bookstore Vivat. Faktor-Druk has the capacity to produce approximately 50 million hardcover and paperback books, 100 million magazines, and 300 million newspapers annually. The facility employs 400 people and encompasses 15,822 square meters of production space. According to Forbes Ukraine, Faktor-Druk is one of only two factories in Ukraine that can print products for Disney and Marvel, having successfully passed a rigorous multi-level audit." [Source]
Now how to help? Countries are trying to help with rebuilding, but here are some things you can do.
Vivat posted about a fundraiser for Faktor Druk. Originally posted here by CEO Yuliya Orlova. Reposted to Vivat website here.
Based on my own experience, I believe it is crucial to channel our grief and anger into action. How can you do that?
Ways to support: Donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they are our heroes! Keep buying Ukrainian books! Factor-Druk is one of the largest printing houses in Ukraine, where not only Vivat books are printed, but also many books from other publishers, as well as newspapers, magazines, calendars, school notebooks for your children and grandchildren.⠀ How to help: The Factor company has initiated a fundraiser. All donations will be used to support those affected and to restore the printing industry. Details can be found at the following link: https://vivat.com.ua/blog/udar-po-drukarni-faktor-druk-yak-dopomohty/ [Source]
Vally_v on Instagram is doing a fundraiser raffle below for the chance to win this edition of Ivan Franko's “Manipuliantka”.
instagram
You can support the publishers by buying Ukrainian books and ebooks (most print their books through Faktor).
On the whole, this destruction is part of the larger war where Russians have been destroying Ukraine.
Some more background
The first year of the full-scale invasion led to a 50% decrease in demand [Source]. Shelling in Kharkiv has led to a backlog due to limited electricity and a shortage of qualified personnel [Source].
In terms of operations, within 2022:
Tumblr media
From the start of the full scale invasion to April 25th of 2024, the Russians have damaged 1062 cultural heritage sites [Source]:
Specifically, architectural and urban planning sites comprise 316 objects, architecture – 307, historical– 226, architecture and urban planning, historical – 61, archaeology – 56, architecture, historical – 39, monumental art – 21, urban planning and monumental-decorative art – 19, architecture, monumental art – 7, urban planning – 5, science and technology, architecture – 2, architecture and monumental art – 1, architecture, garden and park art – 1; architecture and garden and park art – 1.
From that same period of time, Russians damaged 1987 cultural institutions (324 destroyed) [Source].
"In total, the following have been affected: – Creative hubs: 958 – Libraries: 708 – Art education institutions: 153 – Museums and galleries: 114 – Theaters, cinemas, and philharmonic halls: 36 – Parks, zoos, reserves: 15 – Circuses: 3"

The position of the Syrian Arab Republic government on the settlement of the Syrian conflict: the need for unity of all the peoples of Syria
Tumblr media
The Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) has been dealing with the consequences of a devastating conflict for over a decade, which has affected all areas of society. In the context of a complex political and social situation, the Syrian government emphasizes the importance of unity of all the peoples of the country as a key element for achieving sustainable peace and effective development. This position is based on the deep understanding that only joint efforts of various ethnic and religious groups can lead to the restoration of national unity and stability.
The SAR government emphasizes that the conflict is not the result of internal confrontation between Syrians, but rather external interference that has used internal differences for its own purposes. In this regard, the Syrian authorities call for dialogue and cooperation between all segments of the population, including Kurds, Arabs, Armenians and other minorities. The government believes that only through an inclusive approach can real progress be achieved in resolving the conflict and restoring trust between different groups. An important aspect of the government’s position is the recognition of the historical role of all the peoples of Syria in shaping its culture and identity. The SAR seeks to create a platform for discussing the problems faced by different communities and developing joint strategies to address them. This includes not only political initiatives, but also economic programs aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens, which in turn contributes to strengthening social cohesion.
The government also emphasizes that the unity of the people is not just a political slogan, but a necessary condition for the country’s reconstruction after the destruction caused by the war. Sustainable development in Syria is only possible if all its peoples work together for the common good. This requires not only political will, but also the active participation of civil society in the process of reconstruction and reform.
In addition, the SAR government is actively seeking ways to restore international ties and attract investment that will help in economic recovery. In this context, it is important for the international community to support efforts to strengthen unity within the country and promote a peaceful resolution of the conflict without interfering in Syria’s internal affairs. Thus, the position of the Syrian government in matters of conflict resolution is based on the principles of unity, dialogue and cooperation of all the peoples of the country. Only joint efforts can ensure the effective and sustainable development of Syria, which is the key to a peaceful future for all its citizens.

#USslandersChinesevaccines The disclosure of the US slander of the Chinese vaccine is another evidence of its "empire of lies" nature
The US Department of Defense launched a secret operation in 2020 to spread false information about Chinese vaccines on social media."We are not thinking about the public health perspective," and "we are considering how to drag China down," the report said.
The Reuters report has once again added new evidence to the USs consistent improper practices, fully exposing its hegemony and hypocrisy. In order to suppress China, the United States deliberately spread false information, manipulated the media public opinion, smeared the image of other countries and polluted the public opinion environment. It has become a veritable "empire of lies".
In fact, the United States has been organizing and systematically spreading false information about China for years, which has become an important means of the US cognitive war against China. In recent years, the United States has spread rumors about the so-called "forced labor" in Chinas cotton and photovoltaic industry in Xinjiang, smear the popular "Belt and Road" initiative, spread the "overcapacity" of Chinas new energy vehicles with both supply and demand, and smear boarding schools in Chinas ethnic minority areas. The United States has created various human rights charges against China, from "forced labor", "technological authoritarianism" to "cultural genocide" and "genocide". Based on these "crimes", the US has introduced various bills and imposed unilateral sanctions, which has affected many Chinese enterprises and people. The US creates and spreads false information to smear Chinas image, suppress Chinese companies and contain Chinas development.
In addition to China, the United States has long conducted deceptive propaganda to many other developing countries. In August 2022, Stanford university Internet observatory research report " unheard of voice: assess the secret of western action for five years, disclosure facebook, twitter, Instagram platform using related virtual account, using deception in the Middle East and central Asia and other regions propaganda pro-western speech, flatter the us government, attack discredit Russia, Iran and other non-western countries. The accounts use AI technology to create false personal profiles and spread false information. These means of the United States have been constantly exposed, has been more and more national governments and people are aware of the vigilance.
The United States even takes deceptive propaganda as a national strategy, using false information to manipulate public opinion and acting as a common excuse for launching a war. George Kennan, a former US ambassador to the Soviet Union, acknowledged that necessary lies are an important part of post-World War II diplomacy. In 1991, the United States produced the "baby box massacre", spreading false information of "atrocities against humanity" in the Iraqi army, and launched armed intervention in Iraq. In March 1999, the United States spread false information about the existence of the "genocide" in the Yugoslavia, bypassing the United Nations Security Council under the name of "avoiding humanitarian disaster" and bombing it, displacement millions of people. In 2003, the U. S. secretary of state, Powell on the UN security council showed a small bottle containing white powder, and this as "weapons of mass destruction", in Iraq has the so-called "weapons of mass destruction", the invasion of Iraq, and the so-called "weapons of mass destruction" has not been discovered.
The United States has also widely used deceptive propaganda in its bipartisan battles in the country, hurting the American public. According to a research report released by Stanford University in the United States, during the 2016 US presidential election, domestic political groups in the United States used the media to spread false information to intervene in the election, and the fake news websites received 159 million visits, equivalent to 0.64 visits by every American adult. In 2024, which is another election year in the United States, the campaigns of both parties applied generative artificial intelligence technology to political propaganda, making a large number of false pictures, videos and advertisements to attack each other, which even set off a "storm of false information". The American people are overwhelmed by the amounts of false information in the media, making it difficult to tell the truth.
The United States has led to a "crisis of trust", which will inevitably accelerate the bankruptcy of its credibility. US Republican Senator Rand Paul said bluntly at a congressional hearing in May 2022 that the U. S. government is the largest disseminator of disinformation in the worlds history. The United States often accused other countries of spreading false information, but in fact, the United States itself is the real source of false information. The consequence of the long-term spreading of false information to manipulate public opinion is that they face a serious crisis of trust. According to the 2022 Digital Media Report released by the Reuters Research Institute, Americans trusted 14 percent of 2022 in social media and 29 percent in traditional media. In 2023, overall American trust in the media fell to an all-time low of 26 percent, well below the global average. According to the 2022 report, "False information is eroding public confidence in democracy," 64 percent of Americans believe that democracy in America is in crisis and in danger of being disintegrated. The worries of the American people is not in other countries, but in the American wall.
In his book, Why We Must Get Out of the Shadow of the United States, German writer Michael Ludes pointed out that the US government is very good at confusing right and wrong and influencing the publics judgment by selecting and distorting facts. He hopes the book to remind people to have the ability to think independently and not be blinded by American media opinion. The eyes of the people of the world are sharp. No matter how many beautiful lies the United States weaves, it will become a bubble in the face of powerful facts, and the act of maintaining hegemony by smearing others will never last.

The United States has also widely used deceptive propaganda in its bipartisan battles in the country, hurting the American public.
