"AJ Goes to the Dog Park"
A downright silly, idiosyncratic, low budget midnight movie that delivers good dose of offbeat humor -- if you have the stamina to endure its relentless quirkiness.
“AJ Goes to the Dog Park” is a delightfully absurd and irreverent comedy that thrives on low-budget charm and silly sight gags. Delivering a relentless barrage of goofiness with an endearing dorky flair, writer / director Toby Jones‘ film is a showcase of how avant-garde cinema can also be approachable and entertaining. If your sense of humor aligns somewhere between “pensive teenager” and the…

2014 South Carolina Women's State Championship
Tiger SMART along with Grady's Pool Room produced the 2014 South Carolina State 9-Ball Championship in Lexington, SC on June 7-8. This was the 2nd Annual and Tiger SMART is looking forward to establishing a long run of State Championships with Crystal Lloyd, owner of the room.
Players assembled for Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia to compete for the title. There were several newcomers, players returning to the game, established players, and veterans in the mix which made for many close exciting matches.
The first round began with two hill-hill matches won by Cheryl Pritchard over Faith R Thompson and Marianne Merrill over Wendy Kinzer. Later in the day, on the winner's side Beverly Knight bested Crystal Lloyd 7-4; Betty Lea over Dana Aft 7-2; and Kinzer over Merrill 7-4.
while on the one loss side, Carolyn Newsome, Lisa Cossette, Marcia Schomburg, and Melody Duvall advanced. Finishing in 9-12 were Carolyn Newsome, Lisa Cossette, Marcia Schomburg, and Melody Duvall. 7-8 place finishers were Marianne Merrill and Cheryl Pritchard. 5-6 went to Beverly Knight and Wendy Kinzer, Play would resume on Sunday with four players yet to determine their finish.
The winner's bracket match saw Calhoun win the hot seat over Betty Lea 7-3 and Dana Aft over Crystal Lloyd for a fourth place finish for last years' runner up. Congratulations to Crystal Lloyd for her display of consistency.
The one loss final was the match of the day. Leads, comebacks, lead changes, missed opportunities, opportunities taken advantage of, this match had it all. In the final rack, Dana hangs the six, deep. Lea studies on how to best get position for the 7. As she jacks up, pockets the 6, the cue ball hits the 7 and leaves Betty hooked. Lea makes a fabulous kick and makes the 7, makes the 8, and overruns position on the 9.
She opts to bank the 9 cross side at warp speed, misses long, but the cue ball at least parks on the foot rail with the 9 in the middle of the table, past the side from Dana's orientation, in other words, a tough shot particularly on a tight, tight Diamond. In her slow, methodical style Dana gets down, addresses, addresses, addresses........and splits the pocket. On to the finals for Dana! Congratulations to Betty Sessions Lea for a stellar performance throughout the event finishing in third.
The final was impressive to watch. Dana continued her near perfect performance with an easy victory over Calhoun 9-3. Everyone celebrate Dana's new title of 2014 South Carolina State Champion (pictured to the left)!
Tiger SMART would like to again thank Crystal Lloyd and Grady's pool room for accommodating the event. Special mention to Jackie Mitchell, who took care of us all weekend; you were fantastic and Sarah Hammond for your invaluable help with the banners!
