((Joy is so much more like her mother than she'd ever care to admit.

The model of love and relationships Joy had was a couple who was together because one person babytrapped the other to make sure she'd never be abandoned. Joy's mom and dad loved each other...ish. But her dad only stayed in the marriage because he was frankly as terrified of Abigail as Joy was, and after Joy "left" (was kicked out when her dad couldn't object), he divorced his wife and left for Florida.

She grew up with this idea that to love someone meant to own them, and that their interest in you can wane at any moment so you have to do absolutely everything to keep them with you. It's...no wonder she's so fucked up. Her choices are very much her own, but she also didn't have much of a chance of being an emotionally healthy person, either.))

A headcanon for each muse?

(( I could go on for D A Y S talking about Cryptie, but I’ll try not to ramble just about him! ))

Cryptie - When he’s older, he gets this knack for nailing down voices of characters, and he often says ridiculous things in them when he feels like swearing.

Isabella - In the mansion, she forms a very strong connection with a Raven, and me and a friend HC that Madame Leota actually mystically tied the two together, so Isabella could see through the raven’s eyes. 

NOW FOR MUSES THAT I STILL NEED TO ADD BIOS FOR!! 

May - Despite being a physic, she is actually very scared of ghosts, due to a bad attachment she’s had in the past. Cryptie is still puzzled about this, and tries to help her get over it. First time she’s in the mansion, she’s gonna almost run away. Cryptie has to drag her back.

Patrick - Out of his three friends, being Cryptie, Camilla, and Mae, he’s the only one who can’t see ghosts! And he’s actually pretty bummed out about that. While snooping walking throughout the mansion, he made a discovery! Old glass bottles that have been stowed away in junk piles in the attic have gathered enough residential energy to make “Ghost Glass” as he calls it. He’s able to see specters through this spiritually positive glass! He took said bottles, with permission, and make them into “Ghost goggles”. As the name entails, he’s able to see ghosts when he puts them on, and he loves them alot because “They’re awesome!” 

Camilla - Camilla works with alot of recycled material to make art pieces, including cans, glass and plastic bottles, so she probably helped out with the Ghost Goggles.

Cecil - Cecil died when he was on the bridge. He fell into the water from being blasted with a shotgun, and he bled out and drowned. He used to haunt the bridge until a locket was swept out of his coat, and his spirit was attached to it, so he went along to. Then some scavenger found it, pawned it to an antique shop, and so he haunted there instead. He was quite pissed about it, so he caused trouble, and the shop keepers were trying everything to get this locket off their hands when they figured it out- Camilla was given the locket, seeing as how she was only a traveler passing through town, so she would take the spirit along with her when she left.

Harvey - Harvey is a drunk uncle. Seriously. He’s a pretty cool guy but he can be a bit of a jerk with a temper, and doesn’t take kindly to youngsters who have a chip on their shoulders, or authority. Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets kicked out of the mansion.

Josephine - She’s usually quiet as a mouse, but if you intrude on her painting time, prepare for hell’s wrath. 

Tammy - Tammy is that electrical ghost I’ve been talking about. She’s very stand offish and will stand up to authority. She will gladly haunt the living, and has even shocked them. There’s a comic I want to do where Cryptie finally tells her to chill, and she gets mad. He throws salt at her, which hurts her. She gets pissed and says, “Guess I should return the favor!” Grabs his hands and shocks him. Poor Cryptie ends up collapsing and his hair is standing up and singed at the ends in a cartoonish fashion. He’s fine. Just mad.

Continued Cyril ramblings under the cut.

I have one (1) brain cell at this time so instead of eloquently worded information and thought provoking headcanons, you - my dear and most sincerely appreciated reader - get a bulleted list.

Okay here we go.  ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Cyril is, in any situation, quite formal in his vocabulary and sentence structure. This goes hand in hand with formal mannerisms and carrying.

Typically, the only real vocal indication of hostility - or otherwise less than noble intentions - is Cyril growling. His tone, manners, and vocabulary will remain composed, even if he’s quite literally in the act of something unsavory.

Cyril typically speaks slowly, which can either put people at ease or instill the exact opposite feeling. Naturally this depends on the dynamic, but it’s a common thread that Cyril’s voice goes from being a soothing presence to a terrifying one.

In most scenarios, there is precious little emotion present in his voice - which can sometimes make him sound disinterested or unimpressed. That can either be an asset or a detriment, depending on who he’s talking to.

Most of his emotion - if he deems to show any - is present in his body language and, in conversation, displayed primarily through eye contact.

How Cyril speaks to someone is almost wholly dependent upon the dynamic between the two. Whether he’s stoic, gentle, invested, impatient etc will all depend on who he’s speaking to.

No matter the situation, Cyril’s voice always retain one feature that many will speak of: it’s loud. Or at least, it feels loud.

Cyril has a very authoritative demeanor and tone, and he does not allow people to speak over him. Because of this, he’s usually able to drown out others and command attention.

When speaking to crew or giving orders, all emotion will typically drain from his voice. This is the loudest and perhaps the most impatient he can sound - though whether or not the most intimidating is likely a matter of opinion.

The alternative for the most intimidating Cyril can sound is how he speaks when riled. While still formal and - until things begin to get violent / he loses his temper - quite calm and collected, he will snarl and growl low in the back of his throat to convey that he’s not playing around.

Full-fledged anger does not inherently mean he grows to be particularly loud - but his words and tone will be more aggressive and authoritative, similar in some ways to how his voice sounds when commanding the crew - but mingled now with unpleasant emotion. Most of his anger is conveyed in his actions, ie lashing out at others.

Genuine curses are rare. Typically foul language is reserved for use as a term / pet name to talk down to another.

Cyril never stutters or stammers his words - and he hates when people fumble over their words in such a manner. It’s common for him to blatantly ignore people until they can speak “properly” to him, without stuttering. In some cases he’ll cut people off and demand they start again, or repeat it until they can talk without fumbling. 

Eye contact is important to Cyril, especially in conversation. It’s also typical for him to get up in someone’s face to make sure they’re looking at him when they’re speaking. ( Again, very dependent upon dynamic, but still worth mentioning. )

EXPERIENCE

HOW LONG - Since I was around 13 or 14, so...14 years now?

WHAT PLATFORMS - fanfiction.net forums, a few privately owned forum sites I don't remember the names of, formspring (yes I'm THAT old), twitter, discord, and ofc tumblr! I mostly just use tumblr now, as about 90% of the sites I used are either defunct or you literally could not pay me to go back.

BEST EXPERIENCE - This is nearing 10 or so years ago, but my friend group and I did this huge group plot where one of my muses got turned into a vampire and kept attacking my other muse (who was actually a proto version of Shy!) and eventually the whole group had to get together to try and stop him. Friends were forced to betray each other. People got brainwashed, leading to severe PTSD and becoming a shutin for awhile. One guy literally got his head cut off and his brain put into a robot. It was fucking amazing.

MUSE TYPE

FEMALE OR MALE - Female. I have a hard time understanding guys, and women come more naturally to me ig.

FLUFF, ANGST, OR SMUT - None of the above? I love fluff and angst, smut isn't really my cup of tea because like. Aroace spectrum. But I honestly prefer adventure. I miss adventure plots. And horror.

PLOT OR MEMES - Memes! I'm good at "yes, and" ing people but not coming up with things on my own.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES - Both? Both is good. I don't judge based on length, and I'm in the camp of "write what you feel", so if you feel like writing a novel? Write a novel. If a few sentences will do, then it'll do perfectly.

BEST TIME TO WRITE - Whenever I'm awake and within access of internet. Literally just whenever I can.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSES? - It's less that I have muses and more that I have several dumping grounds for my different neuroses. AKA...yes, for the most part. Some of my muses, like Shy, are inspired by personal experience and things that I've wanted to see in fiction but never got. Others, like Liza, or even Joy, are people that I have very little in common with, but sort of went "okay, this is what makes sense for someone who does this" and fashioned a personality out of.
