And honestly, let the grimey cryptid boys be friends. Make Gotham and Hell's Kitchen WEEP at the thought of the 'living shadow creature' and the 'demon pretending to be human' working together.

I had a dream last night that I sat next to @pastafossa at a special binge-watch screening of all of Daredevil: Born Again--which, like can we make that a thing?? The whole season on the big screen??

Anyways I obviously don't know what Pasta looks or sounds like so my brain decided to just make a Mothman/ cryptid-like stand in that I just somehow knew was Pasta for me to converse with as we dissected every single thing about the new show and gasped every time Charlie Cox did anything

Spielzeit Bestiary #1: The Blue Man

This cryptid was one of the first to be spotted, at least somewhat, by the townsfolk. One Porshia Graham, then age 16, was taking a stroll through the woods near Spielzeit, when she noticed something peculiar. Little patches of soft, blue hair were strewn about the twigs and leaves, and they made a trail. Ms. Graham followed suit, eventually finding the most damning piece of evidence of the existence of the Spielzeit Blue Man: a red ribbon, covered with the patches of blue hair and what seemed to be blood.

A few months later, local daredevil Malcolm "Jolt" Holt was taking another trip to one of Spielzeit's local caves, trying to find a swimming hole. Mr. Holt, while in the cave, reported seeing more of the blue hairs, but the trail didn't lead to a ribbon this time. Mr. Holt claims he came face to face with the Blue Man.

"....it was about 9-10 feet tall, ape-like. It had piercing black eyes, and big, red lips with tons of sharp teeth. It had long, long arms and legs, and from how it walked, if you could even call it that, it was pretty much weightless. But that sound it made...God, I've done and heard some crazy things, but that shriek, it sounded like it was coming from the Reaper itself."

Afterwords, authorities in town inspected the cave in which Mr. Holt had his run in. Per the record of local Ranger Angelo Floro, "There were no patches of blue hair, nor were there any traces of blood. Rest assured, there is nothing strange in this cave, maybe Mr. Holt saw a weird rock formation. As for the sound, most likely a bat."

Locals still claim to see a tall, lanky, hairy, blue ape-like creature near the caves. Only question is...do you believe?

There are a lot of cats this week! What's up with that? Cat monsters are a dime a dozen throughout mythology, and for good reason- whether it be the Bakeneko, Bastet, or the Wampus Cat, as I've said before, cats are aplenty throughout several spurts of folklore. One of the most famous, though, is the legendary hero of Puss in Boots, the eponymous pussycat in question. This 1600's story has had several bits of backing throughout the centuries following its publishing, but like most fairy tales, it wasn't just spurred on by a stroke of imagination or a fever dream- no, Puss in Boots' origin can be traced back years earlier to a celtic monster that serves as our demon of the day: Cait Sith, the fairy cat of Irish myth.

Accounts of the Cat-Síth, commonly misspelled as Cait Sith, date back far into the past, likely around the 13th century in a story titled "Le Morte d'Arthur, Morgan le Fay," though that was only really when the term was solidified. Fairies have been used as shorthand to explain paranatural phenomena for years before, albeit under different names, or even in different cultures- per instance, a Yōkai could be seen as a type of fairy, just centered in Japanese myth. Getting back on topic, though, one of the most peculiar of these fairies is the pitch black oversized cat in question. Typically depicted as a cat the size of a dog that is all black save for a white spot on its belly, the Cat-Síth is portrayed with many peculiar abilities, having humanlike intelligence and walking upright on two legs.

Due to these unique abilities, some purport that the Cat-Síth isn't exactly a usual fairy- many people support the idea that it is a witch who is able to transform between cat and human, and part of that legend also ties into the belief of cats having 9 lives- as the legend regarding the witch goes, she can transform between cat and human only 9 times, and if she were to cross that threshold, she'd be stuck as a cat for the rest of her days. I'm not sure if this is directly correlated to that old wives tale, but the connection between cats and 9's in folklore and idioms is certainly something to look into.

The origins of the Cat-Síth are unclear, with many scholars purporting the idea that the stories surrounding this feline fairy are headed and inspired by the Scottish wildcat, or the endangered hybrid between said wildcats and domestic cats, the Kellas cat. The main source for this seems to originate in the fact that Kellas cats share similar features to contemporary depictions of the Cat-Síth, being 'dog-sized' pitch black cats. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

I have a personal theory relating this to the stories of the Nekomata from Japanese myth as well- the odd behaviors of the Cat-Síth may have the same origin as the Nekomata's behaviors, that being a cat infected with rabies. This is my own personal pet theory, though, based on the similarities between yōkai and other such cryptid-esque monsters from the past. Yōkai, fairies, demons, cryptids- they could all have similar roots in animals infested with disease or people who had gone mad, only bastardized through the years and storytellings.

This fantastical feline fairy firmly roots itself as a strange bit of folklore, but what's up with its design in SMT? It's an obvious homage to a famous fairytale, drawing a connection between the Scotsman cat and one of the most popular cat creatures in history, that being everyone's favorite death defying feline, Puss in Boots.

The connection drawn between the devious daredevil Puss and the tricky tabby Cat-Síth is somewhat obvious, as both are legendary european stories based primarily off of the weird and crazy shit cats will commonly get up to. This spotlight is growing a bit long, so I won't regail you with the details of Puss's entire life story, but the curious connection drawn between Puss and the conniving calico that is Cat-Síth throughout the series' many demonic compendiums brings to mind a lot of curious ideas. It does seem entirely possible that Puss was partly inspired by this guileful grimalkin, given the relative timeframe between the two stories.

Jeez, I'm running out of wordplay, so I'll have to wrap this up. Cat-Síth has even more to it, frankly- this cat could have inspired so much more, indirectly, and I haven't even touched on Final Fantasy yet! This conniving cat is a recurring demon throughout the series for hopefully obvious reasons- Cat-Síth is probably the first fairy one thinks about in celtic lore, and this impish pussycat is certainly deserving of the demon of the day. Now, I'm gonna have to restock on catnip.

My Cryptid Jason is heavily based on Curran Walters’s appearance of Jason (Titans show).

While I like the looks of this particular version of Jason, I hate how they destroyed his character in the show. At first I was excited because any piece of media that actually has Jason is better than nothing, but as I kept watching I got more disappointed. I could excuse the “angry daredevil/careless and clearly a teenager” act, that’s nothing new to Jason’s interpretations across the Bat-Verse even if I disagree with it. But as I got to the episode where he died I was furious. Not only did most of the Titans say that it was his fault for being beaten death (also why didn’t we include the thing with Jay’s birth mom, that would have been sooo much better the “I’m gonna go fight Joker on my own”), but they said Jason hated reading! Jaybird, theater nerd and lover of Jane Austin??? I stopped watching after that episode, so I don’t even know what was going on with whatever Jason was making, but I fully support Red Hood Jason in this series. And no hate to the actor, I think he did a fantastic job regardless. If the writers had actually known Jason he would have been the absolute best movie/tv version.

Anyways, Silent Hearts and Silent Knights Jason will not be an angry kid. He’s just scared and will be endlessly and unconditionally loved by the flock.

Okay, so in my world, Daredevil's considered some kinda cryptid by most of the Internet. He travels up and down Scotland and sometimes England. I'm prone to going down rabbit holes while browsing so I have read some theories. Before meeting him, I was fully convinced he was the Actual Devil because all that I'd seen was that 1: he was terrifying and 2: in his 10+ years of operating, the only pictures have been blurred as hell.

The day that I met him was pretty bad for me lmfao. Just brought down my world's Power Broker so my head was all out of fuck

So my fighting game was off too, like very, very, badly. The Vulture and Mysterio decided to form a tag team, too. Middle of the night I woke up to screams and panic

And on a good day I would be able to take down the motherfuckers in one punch.

Let's skip the details, but Vulture had me pinned to a rooftop and Mysterio was advancing, making some kinda fog from illusions

When all of a sudden there was a person lunging at him from the next roof over. He broke the Illusion, too- I'm still not certain how DD's immune to them.

But he smashed Mysterio's helmet in, broke his arm and leg, and chucked him into the skip at the base of the building (I have pictures lol)

It was alarming because I'm not that rough and I've got super strength. Like, Mysterio was missing teeth and was covered in blood within seconds

It shocked Vulture so much that I managed to snap out of it and fight him properly

When it was all over I went back to the roof, where I met Daredevil. He does, indeed, look intimidating as hell. Human. I couldn't see his eyes thru his mask as it was so dark, and he was on a vantage point over me, just crouching there menacingly

And he opened his mouth and out came a fuckin English accent in a genuinely pleasant tone and I just started laughing my ass off because I expected him to sound as if he'd swallowed nails

We talked for a while and now we're firm allies >:D

TLDR: Daredevil materialised and smashed Mysterio's fishbowl in. Result: Friends!

in the ACAU Matt honestly doesn’t really know where he stands with Peter (mostly because Matt doesn’t know how to handle the more animalistic side), and that’s why they aren’t actually “friends”. Peter randomly starts to threaten him or does things that put him in unnecessary danger (like playing Deadly Hide and Seek) and doesn’t actually see much wrong with it! Matt however thinks danger is just the norm for vigilante friendships, even though Peter’s his only vigilante “friend” here. At least he knows where he stands with Miles, who makes it clear he doesn’t give a single shit about Matt and won’t even try to communicate with him even if they ran into each other. Matt is struggling to decide whether or not he wants to go through all this just to have an ally or two as Daredevil.
