Small BSD kindergarden!AU headcanon pt.1 - Ranpo, Poe and Mushitaro playing detective
TWs: None
Ranpo loves playing detective games with Poe and Mushitaro
He always wants to be the detective who leads the investigations
Poe is always the second detective who helps Ranpo to solve the cases. He also always brings in new ideas to the "case"
Ranpo absolutley loves his ideas and praises Poe often for such great ideas
Mushitaro wasn't a big fan of the detective games at first since he always had to play the role of the villain or the criminal but for some reason Ranpo never stopped asking him to play with them
Mushitaro often tried to hide when he saw Ranpo and Poe walking towards him or when he heard Ranpo calling his name but hiding was useless
Even if he tried to ignore them or if he said that he didn't wanted to play, Ranpo would always pester him until he gave in
One time he got so pissed that he snapped at Ranpo, telling him that he didn't wanted to play the criminal anymore.
He already expected Ranpo to be angry or to start pouting but to his surprise Ranpo started to laugh and told him that he can be a detective too if he wanted to
Since then they are all "detectives"
Mushitaros' plush ghost and Poes' plush racoon "Karl" are nearly always either valueable witnesses or the main suspects
Ranpo always walks around the kindergarden, hunched over and inspecting everything with his detective magnifying glass while Poe and Mushitaro follow him, talking about their ideas, theories and who they suspect
Sometimes they involve random other kids in their play without them knowing
Once they scared a kid since they kept following them and kept watching them from a distance
When one of the kindergardners asked them what they were doing, Ranpo told them that they were spying on a suspect of a big case while Poe hid behind him
Mushitaro is often complaining about things making no sense
Poe has a bit more fantasy and imagines the greatest most twisted cases while Mushitaro complains about the case being way too over the top
Sometimes they involve Yosano in their play as doctor
They call themselves "The Perfect Crime Trio"
They also started to accept "serious cases" of other kids after they had no ideas for new cases anymore
Now they also solve things like which kid stole the candy or ate the last yogurt

Rashomon:
Quite possibly the best edited movie of all time, Japanese master Akira Kurosawa's film tells the story of a murder trial during the samurai era of Japan, as told from the viewpoints of 3 individuals: the murderer, the victim's wife, and the victim himself via a medium. The editing is intensely subjective so you're never quite sure exactly what happened or why. Prejudices color every testimony, and even the frame story contains some myteries that aren't solved. It's also just beautifully shot and exceptionally acted. It's one of Kurosawa's first masterpieces.
Seven Samourais:
What can even be said? Directed by the visionary Akira Kurosawa, who pioneered many of the most foundational filmmaking techniques used to this day. The film is exciting and compelling, every shot is art, and its legacy on the industry is yet to be overshadowed. It consistently makes top ten on ‘best films of all time’ lists to this day, rated the best foreign language film of all time by the BBC. All the actors are great, Toshiro Mifune is hot, the soundtrack by Fumio Hayasaka is iconic, and the film was technically magnificent for the time, with the techniques and effects frankly still blowing many modern blockbusters out of the water (ahem. marvel.) The film is also one of the most remade and reimagined films to date. Particularly of note is that The Magnificent Seven, one of the most famous films of all time (and criminally much more well-known than Seven Samurai) is explicitly a direct remake of Seven Samurai with the setting swapped. Frankly it’s no contest. All of Kurosawa’s films are brilliant, and were massively influential for their own reasons, but Seven Samurai is such a seminal piece of cinematic history that not including it would be nigh a crime.
Seven rōnin are hired to protect a village from bandits. This film has such a classic set-up and has been remade several times over (See: The Magnificent Seven, The Invincible Six, A Bug's Life honestly...). However, I personally think the original did it best. It's got the best action, the best characters (Toshiro Mifune my beloved), and just the best general direction. For a film that's over 3 hours, not a second of it feels wasted.

╔═.✾. ═ LOG *** : Shego | cisfemale , she/her | 28 years old.
Just spotted SHEGO around town. Our records show that they remember [everything] from their source : kim possible (disney). They were first spotted in december 2021 and our best guess is that their last memory is a glimpse of herself in the mirror as she walks out of the room, knowing that this time, she won. Archivists watching them state that they still have the not your baby, manicurerd nails tapping on the countertop, raised eyebrows lacing your tongue with poison aesthetics vibe about them.
━ from Armes E. Sallow’s personal archives. ═.✾. ═╝
↳・゜ana de armas .
↳・゜pita (she/her). 25+. cest.
↳・゜When Shego came to Sallow Hills, she was overdue a fresh start. Without the sign of any red-headed, meddling heroes, or her former “boss”, she figures this place is as good as any place to figure out who she wants to be, and how she wants to do it. She’s been living her for a few months now, taking her time to settle into life here. At least it’s never boring at Sallow Hills. For a living, she’s a part-time bartender at The Drowned Prince, and part time as quite possibly the meanest personal trainer at Brân’s - but she does get results.
↳・゜interview. ━━━ transcribed on : 2 february 2022.
If you sit, you drink. Paying customers only.
ARMES: You asked me to come here, Shego, for your interview re-
Don't care. Rules. Drink. What are you having, and don't waste my time.
ARMES: Water, please.
[There's a faint sound of a heavy sigh, followed by some rustling about, a glass filling before it's placed heavily onto the counter.]
Get on with it, then. And that'll be two fifty.
ARMES: Can you tell me your name and where you are from?
Shego. Does it really matter where I came from? I'm not going back.
ARMES: It's important for the record that -
Fine. Let's just say America. I've been all over.
ARMES: And what is the last thing you remember from your home?
[She scoffs.] Home? What home? You know, your questions are as good as a rubber duck in your chicken casserole. Anyway, to answer the question you didn't ask. I remember walking out of that "evil lair", or whatever tacky name you wanna call it, after destroying everything. It's kinda funny, if you spend enough time around someone, you can sooo easily figure out how to destroy it all with the push of a button. Drakken didn't know what he had coming, but he totally deserved it. After all those years? Yeah, it was about fucking time I won.
ARMES: I ask this because we have a history of memory loss in town. do you feel as though you have any blanks in your memories?
Nope. Next question.
ARMES: how long have you been in town?
Few months.
ARMES: and are you feeling settled? have you found a job?
[There's a pause, Armes notes that Shego raised both eyebrows in an exhasparated expression.]
Did you not look when you entered this place, or? Yeah, duh. I'm working, both here, at the WHITE RABBIT, for your records, and I'm a trainer at the gym. Don't come see me there, you wouldn't be able to take it.
ARMES: What, do you think, was the strangest thing you saw before arriving in this town?
I dunno. Crime-fighiting teenagers who somehow has favours all over the world, and still get straight A's?
ARMES: Do you believe in the supernatural or mythical?
Hah, what, like it's something spoooky and myterious? Right, you were almost funny there.
ARMES: What kind of traits would your friends or family give you?
You'd have to ask them, wouldn't you? Or ask yourself, I'm sure that talking to you gives you a picture. Everyone does that, make their impressions based of what they want me to be. Frankly, I don't give a shit about what you think of me.
ARMES: is there anything else you would like to say?
Yeah, there is.
ARMES: And what is that?
Goodbye. And don't forget to leave a tip.

Shego is one of the antagonists from the Disney show Kim Possible. She's seen working under Kim's arch nemesis, Dr. Drakken, although, it doesn't seem like Shego's too pleased about her previous situation. We know that she is very dangerous individual, but for now, she doesn't seem interested in any evil, scheming plans. Of course, there is no way of telling if she is up to anything - she stuck with Dr. Drakken for far longer than she needed to, and there has to be a reason for that. It's hard to tell if she's content with her life or not. In fact, it's hard to tell anything about her, other than the fact that she doesn't seem very keen on talking. She seems to be doing fairly well in both of her new jobs, although she is in no way nice or friendly. It's notable that she seems particularily hostile towards men. Shego is a wildcard, and worth keeping a close eye on. We know that she's smart, and it seems very likely that she'll try to get her hands on any kind of information, although, she might not be obvious about her attempts.
Danger rating: Hard to determine exactly, 8-9/10.

Dib have you heard of a show called Buzzfeed Unsolved? They talk about unsolved crimes and try to get video evidence of the existence of ghosts, demons, and some cryptids.
“Ohhhh huh really? That sounds like Mysterious Myteries! I hope it hasn’t been declining in quality as much as Mysterious Mysteries has...”

4/5⭐The Case of The Constant Suicides by John Dickson Carr
I know, I know. I jumped into this series right in the middle, I should have started with the first book. Well, I didn't have that at hand, and my dad suggested this one because he found a copy in a second hand shop and he liked it. Added bonus was that it was set in Scotland and featured places I have visited. So I read it. Only 200 pages, a quick read before the next one. And I do need to admit that I was looking forward to the next one which I got yesterday. It was a Valentine's Day bookish blind date event at my local library which meant they put a book in a paper bag and the only way for you to base your decision on was three little clipart like images. It was so much fun! But I knew I wanted a book between the last one I finished, The Amber Spyglass and what I got from a library and John Dickson Carr's little book was the right size. It is set in Scotland, near Inveraray, in a castle called Shira. Google didn't come up with anything when I looked it up, but there is a Glen Shira, the valley of River Shira. Story goes Rob Roy MacGregor stayed here in the 1710s. Here lives the Campbell family, whose oldest member, Angus has just died. That's why distant family members Alan and Kathryn Campbell are summoned for some family business. Soon enough we find out that Angus' death is very suspicious, and his "special lady friend" Elspat, who has been his partner for several decades, invited a reporter as well. On top of that, Colin, Angus' younger brother, asked his friend, Dr Gideon Fell, to investigate. From what I can gather, Dr Fell is like Agatha Christie's Poirot in a way. He gets invited to figure out all kinds of myterious cases, even though he's a doctor. But has a good nose when it comes to solving crimes. Obviously, as it is with most of these kind of books, nothing as it seems and the final plot twist comes very close to the book's last page. I have to say, though, that compared to Agatha Christie's work, this was underwhelming. Dr Fell didn't really do much, just kept all his "brilliant" thoughts to himself. There's nothing special about him, and the little oddities that made Poirot stand out are completely missing here. All in all, this was an enjoyable and super quick read, but I'm not going to be a fan of this series. It would have needed more to be unique. As it was, it delivered everything one could expect from this genre, and a book published in 1941.

Dying Breath (Krewe of Hunters #21) by Heather Graham
Dying Breath kicks off a trilogy-within-a-series which will feature the same couple investigating three crimes. It’s part of the Krewe of Hunters series, so I went in expecting suspense, mytery, romance, and more than a dash of the paranormal. And that’s exactly what I got.
The novel kicks off with teenage Vickie Preston escaping a serial killer after heeding the warning of a ghost Years later, with the killer still behind bars, Vickie appears to be connected to a new string of deaths and disappearances: young women who are being buried alive. And the cop who saved her life is now assigned to the case as a federal agent with the Krewe of Hunters. As Vickie and Griffin grow closer, the threat to Vickie herself grows — and other people connected to Vickie’s past are drawn in as well.
