Not what I usually do, but I've peepin' you (celric)

10. Bath Skyline Walk
For those who enjoy the outdoors, the Bath Skyline Walk is an excellent way to explore the natural beauty surrounding the city. This six-mile circular route offers stunning views of Bath and its countryside, taking you through meadows, woodlands, and along the edge of ancient limestone quarries.
A bit of history
Steeped in thousands of years of history, the city's roots go back to Roman times when it was founded as a spa hotel called Aquae Sulis. The Roman Baths, the city's most famous attraction, offer a window into this ancient past. Explore the well-preserved baths, walk along the original Roman cobblestones, and marvel at the intricate architecture and design of the complex. The baths, with their often steaming waters, offer a fascinating glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle and bathing rituals of the Romans, providing a tangible link to the foundations of the city.
Georgian architecture is another reason to visit this remarkable city. Bath's elegant streets are lined with honey-coloured stone buildings exuding charm and sophistication. Royal Crescent's graceful arched facade is a fine example of Georgian architecture and one of the city's most iconic landmarks.  Circus, a circular townhouse, showcases the architectural genius of John Wood. As you wander the streets of Bath, you’ll stumble upon beautiful terraces, crescents and squares that transport you to a bygone era.
The same honey-coloured stone can be seen at Bath Abbey, founded in the seventh century, it was reorganised in the 10th century and rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries. It dominates the city centre.
Bath's thermal waters have long been known for their healing properties, making it a popular spa destination. The Thermae Bath Spa offers a modern interpretation of the ancient Roman bath. Relax in the rooftop pool, immerse yourself in the warmth.

May 1, 2023 - Day 126
Mumbai, India
We spent two days in Mumbai which changed its name from Bombay in 1995. It is the financial center of India and is the sixth most populated city in the world with 22 million inhabitants in and around the city. Both of the days we were here was a holiday so most shops were closed and there were a huge amount of people on the streets enjoying the days off.
I have been to the city a couple times in the past and the country has worked hard to clean the place up. Before the city suffered from a severe smog problem but now I see many natural gas powered vehicles and no smog. There were still plenty of vehicles on the road and they have lots of traffic congestion but the place has worked hard to clean up the air.
The ship docked near the old city and there were many beautiful colonial buildings still in use. On the first day one of my friends on the ship and I walked the old colonial area to the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. The hotel is right across the street from the Gateway to India arch. It is one the finest hotels in the East and it is a beautiful place. It was the hotel that was targeted in 2008 by Pakistan terrorists. It was tea time so most people were at tea. To go to tea requires a reservation and the next available reservation was 5 days away so instead I went to the bar and had a Indian draft beer which was a fine choice for me. During the walk we also visited the national museum and botanical garden. There were many young men in the middle of the street playing cricket, cows on the sidewalk and guys getting a shave and haircut sitting on a brick. There are 60,000 taxis in the city and it costs a dollar to take one from the port to the Gateway to India.
On the second day Jane and I hired a taxi guide that took us to the national cricket stadium, the Victoria Railway station and Gandhi’s home in Mumbai. The railway station is still in use with many trains, tourists and locals in the place. He took us to the laundry district where there was laundry air drying everywhere. I put a photo below. A new subway system is being built so many of the streets were torn up which added to the congestion. They are also building a new Oceanside road with a 10 mile promenade called the Crescent Moon.
A big city with lots of thing to see. It is also a good jumping off place to see the Taj Mahal or to go to Nepal which many people on the ship did.

Mac DeMarco - Five Easy Hot Dogs
(Soft Rock, Downtempo, Neo-Psychedelia)
A pleasant if disengaged affair, Five Easy Hot Dogs’ cataloging of Mac DeMarco’s trip across the States shows off his more atmospheric side with a modern take on his loungey, DIY psychedelia.
☆☆☆
The bleary sound of Mac DeMarco’s is one that’s incredibly distinctive yet known for its reliance on atmosphere and listlessness, his breakout album 2 full of goopy guitars and midtempo indie rock jams where half the fun is letting the songs just meander in the background and more recent releases like This Old Dog and Here Comes the Cowboy imbuing his sound with darker musings on grief, uncertainty and loss that recontextualized that slow, moody sound with new life experiences. In contrast, his latest release finds him burning money on a road trip across the States, DeMarco refusing to turn home until he finished the project that would become Five Easy Hot Dogs, a pleasant if disengaged affair where all the focus is on Mac’s instrumentals and the different ways he takes his homespun indie rock and lets the unique environments of each city soak into it. There’s not much hiding underneath the surface, but Five Easy Hot Dogs knows what kind of project it is and DeMarco never tries to veer too far from that casual feel - it’s an easygoing trip for him, and the music follows suit, drifting from place to place without much of a plan apart from using his woozy synths and guitars to mark each place he’s visited. Though it almost entirely fails to pull you in, there’s still a lot to like about DeMacro’s laidback sound and how it contributes to that hazy road trip blur. There’s not a ton that differentiates each song from the next, but Five Easy Hot Dogs works because its plain and slightly anonymous mood keeps the music nicely in the background. Crescent City swirls about its gangly acoustic guitar and rimshot percussion with a slight tension to match the coastal city and its foreboding prison facility, and the lonely duo of Portland and Portland 2 match the city’s lonely yet eccentric atmosphere with the former’s drowsy acoustic guitar and the goofy pan flutes from the latter track, other quick trips to cities like Victoria and Rockaway carrying their distinctive DeMarco sound while fitting into Five Easy Hot Dogs’ soft and unwound world. The cheap and often electronic instrumentation here works better than on most of DeMarco’s previous records, the snappy MIDI drum pad on Gualala mechanically whirring under trippy lead guitars and bouncy synths and Chicago’s funky basslines and dry backbeat drum loop easy on the ears and always a treat to return to, even if these songs start and finish with little change throughout. It’s an album constantly at rest, but the energy of each place DeMarco visits can be felt in subtle ways in each track, and though it’s difficult to find much to grab onto across Five Easy Hot Dogs’ fourteen tunes, it’s never an unpleasant listen. That’s also where much of the album falls flat, though, DeMarco’s musical road trip causing the music to take a back seat to all the things he actually did on the trip - meeting friends, exploring each city, staying in shady hotels - and leaving much to be desired in Five Easy Hot Dogs’ 35 minute runtime - fourteen midtempo instrumentals just isn’t all that occupying. These songs fill their space decent enough, but if you were to make a graph of the growth in volume or change in the sound of these songs, you’d have nothing but a straight line. As nice as these songs sound, they are all undeniably a bit boring, even the best of them like Chicago or Crescent City just barely sneak past being humdrum with their 2-and-a-half-minute runtimes. It’s lacking so much of the playfulness and energy of DeMarco’s other releases, even the instrumental ones, the demos thrown onto Old Dog Demos or Another (Demo) One similarly lighthearted without sacrificing the bubbliness and charm that makes his music so memorable. It’s hard for much of Five Easy Hot Dogs to stick with you once the album’s over, and for someone with a style as defined as DeMarco it’s a massive letdown. Regardless of its issues in structure and sound, Five Easy Hot Dogs is a pleasant listen that comes and goes without asking for much of your time or attention, good enough for background music but little more. These songs seemingly have no desire to push for something greater in their presentation, and that’s fine, but it also means it's being a remarkably average project from one of modern indie’s most beloved stars. But that’s always kind of been DeMarco’s M.O.: not worrying about trying to recreate the wiry magic of his previous releases and doing what he enjoys no matter the outcome. It’s not all that inspiring, but it’s a little taste of Mac DeMarco’s beautifully understated sound all the same.

I haven’t had a chance to check any of these out in the last few years so won’t bump any off but I do have a new one to add.
Brazen is a relatively new restaurant in Banff and everything was outstanding, including the crème brûlée. Smooth and tasty with a slight hint of Bailey’s and just the right texture of crust.
We’ll stay at 11 for awhile but will try to get back to 10 when I get a chance to test a few. I know, tough work but somebody has to do it.

BACKGROUND ;
tw: mentions of suicide, drug addiction
frances has led what most would describe as just a normal life. her family was strictly middle class, affording her everything she needed but nothing gratuitous. they lived in a nice suburban home with a white picket fence and a dog. her father and mother were high school sweethearts who married after her fathers first deployment in the army, right out of school. neither of them attended college. they were very conservative with their money -- most of her clothes were from goodwill or salvation army, and all of their furniture was usually found at christian thrift stores. she never minded the mismatched or a tad outdated decor of her family home. it was eclectic and comforting.
she performed very well in school, honors classes, band, all that noise. but when it came to all of her friends talking about college, frances realized she had never made a plan. she didn’t necessarily not want to go to college, but she hadn’t considered what she wanted to do. it seemed like everyone set ideas on who they wanted to be or, at the very least, knew they were ready to leave home. she wasn’t. frances didn’t immediately go to college. she took up work and stayed home with her parents hoping that if she were to just jump into something, maybe her future would reveal itself. after about a years journey she went to school for business, which was more of a play it safe type decision.
her father committed suicide when she was twenty two years old. for her all of her life she had thought everything was fine; she had never seen him cry. he had always been quiet and short with his words... she looked for all the signs following his death and couldn’t find them. she remembered waking up late at night to her parents having whispered, tense conversations in the kitchen but she’d never made herself privy to what was being talked about. at his funeral a friend of his appeared, causing a huge fiasco. frances had never seen him before. he of course had not been invited. there are very few things she remembers as vividly as the moment her mother turned around to see him in the church, her usually very polished and mannered mother lit up like a match, yelling and screaming for him to get out before collapsing into a sob. it seemed to play like slow motion. frances had learned later, from a friend of her mothers, that the man had been a close friend of her fathers; a drug dealer. her father had suffered from drug addiction all his life, which had caused most of their financial strife and warred with his mental health.
following his death, and the revelations of who her father had been in secret, frances was heartbroken. her mother and her had to move into a much smaller home and the two struggled against mounting debt.
when she turned twenty-six, she found herself in what would have to be the youngest mid life crisis possible. she had worked herself so hard, alongside her mother who still had to work everyday, and it felt helpless. then she heard word from a friend about someone they vaguely knew in college becoming a surrogate mother, and the reward for doing so wasn’t cheap at all --  they had made a whopping $35k. following the scent of money, frances set out to do the same. it was no easy process, however, and by the end she felt herself empathically intertwined with a couple in new york who had tried everything so far to have a baby. they were such a model of love and grace. the money wasn’t even important. helping them felt like a true purpose, something she had been searching for for over a decade now. she moved to new york to live with them during the duration of her pregnancy and treated herself to a world far removed from lakeview and the stress of not knowing. it was a very positive and life changing experience. when she came back to lakeview she and her mother moved into a bigger and more comfortable house.
it wasn’t very long after her return from new york that the mysterious man that had appeared at her fathers funeral approached her at the front desk of the motel. her father had owed him money, and he had the perfect plan for getting it back. if she helped him and his friends run drugs through the motel, he would skip all the cliches of cutting fingers and making dramatic threats. eventually, she’d get her own cut too. she had all these dreams of fixing up the motel and turning it into something quaint and memorable, but she needed money to do so. it was always about money. so she agreed. with her straight edge appearance and charismatic nature, no one would ever be the wiser.

How Do You Choose The Best Roofing Contractors
It is very important that yo It is very important that you get the roof repaired without any kind of delay. When you opt for roofing solutions, you are looking for ways that will help to repair the leak and other damage so that your property does not get damaged. Ignoring the roof repair can prove to be an extremely costly affair for you in the long run. If the roof breaks down and falls inside it will destroy all the furniture and your floor will break too. In other you will have to repair the entire house.
Instead of waiting for such a thing to happen why don't you hire roofing contractors Perth? If you do a Google search, it will show you the leading service providers in your city. Collect the contact information from there. Contact the service provider located nearest to your house. Ask them to send over the roofing contractors Perth to your address.
When the contract visits your house ask him to carry out an initial inspection of the roof. This inspection will reveal the damage that is already done and the kind of repair work required. Find out how many days it will take for the roofing contractors Perth to repair the roof. Find out about the cost involved as well. The cost will vary depending on the extent of damage and the kind of repair required. We suggest that you should ask the roofing contractors Perth without further delay. It will be a bit difficult to stay in the house with the roofing work going on. So you need to shift to somewhere else for the time being.
If you have relatives in the city you can shift there or you have to move in to a hotel. No matter wherever you shift, make sure to visit your house daily in order to keep a tab on the extent of work done. Your frequent visits will put pressure on the roofing contractors Perth to finish the work on time. If you ignore visiting the house while the work is going on, the contractors will start to relax and will delay the entire process.Ideally you should opt for roofing services at least once a year.
The immediate problems can be tended to as and when they appear but otherwise annual cleaning and maintenance of your roof is a must. Don't forget that it is because of the roof that your house remains well insulated in the different seasons. In fact, it is the roof that protects your property and all its residents from excess heat, rain, snow and all other changes in the weather.
