The book I'm reading, Crazy In Poughkeepsie, has a quote from you on the cover! Have you ever been to the real life Poughkeepsie? We've got a cool bridge.
I have. (In fact I tore my meniscus at the beginning of October running for a train in Poughkeepsie.)

since you lovely people gave me horror movie recommendations, ill give some of my own!!
Autopsy of Jane Doe (a recent favorite, suspenseful and has supernatural elements but a lot of the scary stuff is done through implication)
Videodrome (for the freaks out there)
The Fly (im a sucker for anything by David Cronenberg)
Phantom of the Paradise (my favorite horror musical, the music and costume design are amazing)
Ginger Snaps (really compelling story about 2 sisters, once inseparable, growing apart. also werewolves)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (really spooky, its a classic)
Frankenhooker (batshit. absolute nonsense. its so fun)
Re-animator (Re-animator)
Altered States (local man takes so many drugs in a sensory deprivation tank that he devolves into a caveman)
Terrifier and Terrifier 2 (not so much a narrative film as it is a showing of the sickest and nastiest practical effects)
Vampire Clay (BONKERS)
Killer Klowns From Outer Space (real good fun with awesome practical effects)
Audition (Takashi Miike is a fucking menace, great film)
The Lost Boys (punk vampires in the 80s, what else do i have to say)
House of 1000 Corpses (i love you Rob Zombie)
The Love Witch (gorgeous, looks right out of the 60s but with a modern twist)
Suspiria (the original and the remake are great but are basically 2 completely different movies)
Teeth (its teeth)
Vamp (Grace Jones is a cool vampire lady)
The Stuff (BONKERS FUCKING YONKERS)
Mandy (Nic Cage goes crazy with it)
Perfect Blue (rest in peace Satoshi Kon you were a genius)
The Brood (David Cronenberg back at it again)
Arabella Black Angel (classic giallo stuff, murders and the most stunning Italian women you've ever seen)
Poughkeepsie Tapes (found footage thats actually scary)
mother! (most anxiety inducing thing ive ever witnessed, i never ever want to see it again. horrifying. be careful, besties)
Tetsuo the Iron Man (the most bizarre body horror ive seen, its great)
Bone Tomahawk (awesome Western horror)
Tenebrae (Italy loves violence)
there's probably more im forgetting but i can always add more later

as someone who does not write im so curious do you name the fics after writing them or before OH FOLLOW UP QUESTION if the title is a song do you write the fic based on the song or pick the song bc the fic reminds you of it while writing (does that even make sense?? this is why im not the writer)
omg what a FUN question. totally makes sense and you could 100% be a writer at anytime if you wanted. i usually just write the fics and then choose a song based off the fic! for quite literally every gotcha fic @poughkeepsies has chosen the title after reading it. for the ‘tortured poets department’ fic i kinda wrote it with ‘the way i loved you’ by t swift in mind, but i didn’t even choose it as the title. i think i would go a little bit crazy trying to write a fic based off a song

i found the poughkeepsie tapes really disappointing. if you've seen the gifsets everyone makes of the same scenes you've seen every scene that's good lmao. they try really hard to push the Killer™ as this like crazy genius and he just seems weird and lame. the movie did NOT hit for me. i would not watch it again
noted!! thank you for the input!! I will probably continue to watch it bc I am bored and trawling tubi's horror section but I will come back and let u know what I think <3

i was tagged by @glorious-spoon and @lover-of-mine, thank you guys <33
i sent this snippet to zee yesterday and she threatened to block me which is just rUDE, so you guys let me know what you think instead :)
“Eddie told me he loved me,” Buck blurts out.
Bobby’s expression goes slack with shock, and he slowly puts down his mug. Buck can feel his ears burn, feels a little like he’s a little kid telling his parents about some schoolyard romance, and looks down at his lap, twisting his fingers together.
Bobby finally finds his voice. “And that’s, um,” he begins, not even bothering to contain the obvious surprise in it. “That’s a bad thing?”
Buck’s head snaps up to look at him. Now Bobby is looking at him a little like he thinks he’s crazy, which is—insulting, really. Buck just told him he’s trapped in a time loop, and the detail which actually rattles Bobby is what Buck told him about Eddie? Like Buck not loving Eddie back is crazier than the possibility of him being stuck in a time loop?
no pressure tagging: @buck2eddie @athenagranted @chimneysrebarscar @jjudaslips @poughkeepsies and anyone else who wants to do this!

@freekzout // ruth asked: do i have to answer?
“I mean, no.” Burns shrugs.
They’re in the Poughkeepsie house, which is rare, for them, considering how much time Burns spends in the city. But Ruth has a day off, and Burns is sick of smelling farts, so out of town they went.
It’s kind of crazy that Burns has a friend. It’s kind of crazy that Ruth Byrne was willing to, essentially, come to a playdate with him.
He kicks his legs up in the air, trying to see if his feet can reach the ceiling. They cannot. He is of below average height, lying down on the couch.
“If you wanna be all secretive and mysterious, that’s your right as a red-blooded American. I just thought we could tell each other stories. If I had crushes, I’d tell you mine in a heartbeat. That’s all!”
He sighs wistfully.

Read this theory by @poughkeepsies and let me share mine idea
Couch is Buck's romantic love right? I believe not only. Couch for Buck is FAMILY. Because they could use only Eddie in the talk about couches, while Chris, for example, sleep in Buck's bed or draw something lying on the floor or something, if it was only about partner, but no. It was a FAMILY dinner, where Buck were cooking for his family while they play game. And ALL 3 of them were talking about couch. And if you remember it was CHRIS who brought the couch (or lack of couch in Buck's loft.). So it's not only about partner, but about kids too. So both Eddie AND Chris are Buck's couch. And couch in danger at the end of the season could mean both Eddie and Chris in danger. What's why it believe that after Eddie not in danger anymore and they think everything is ok, "we are gonna go home to see OUR son after crazy day", they would find out Chris in danger or maybe in hospital (little wounds, please writers if Chris in danger only little wounds), but his dads would rush to the hospital being super worried. Also possible they would be in hospital for their checks after bridge, and would see Carla , who would say them Chris is here. And they would rush to his room to see THEIR son. And then we will see last scene in a season for them, it's buddie and Chris on Eddie's couch playing video games or just talking or anything. Just little happy FAMILY moment
It's also possible Chris would be in danger in 6x16/17, and then Eddie in 6x18. Buck would have to look at the possibility to loose both his son and partner so close in time.
Any way I believe both Chris and Eddie are in danger at the end of the season
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talks

Gang of Four We Live as We Dream, Alone, Live in Poughkeepsie, New York 1983
Everybody is in too many pieces
No-man's land surrounds our desires
To crack the shell we mix with others
Some lie in the arms of lovers
The city is the place to be
With no money you go crazy
I need an occupation!
You have to pay for satisfaction
We live as we dream, alone
To crack the shell we mix with the others
Some flirt with fascism
Some lie in the arms of lovers
We live as we dream, alone...

why is Poughkeepsie tapes your favorite movie?
I just feel such a strange connection to it. Like when something is so horrible you can't look away. The way it's filmed also makes it seem very realistic.
I also feel a big connection with Cheryl Dempsey because I feel like i can relate to her. After everything that happened to her all she said was " he loved me, he didn't mean to leave me. I know he will come back for me".
I relate to her because I find myself using that very same thinking. Absolving the man of all of his bad actions and, instead recognizing that as his love.
Anyway I love the movie because I'm crazy.

supernatural s9e21 king of the damned (w. eugenie ross-leming, brad buckner)
LOL cas you can let go now
dear lord i'm tired after just the recap. angels, metatron/gadreel, abaddon, crowley and his addiction, hellhounds, etc etc
angel handcuffed, slow clompy walk, "is that him??" cas appears. i giggled, not gonna lie
CASTIEL
That brings me to why you're here. We have a prisoner. It's an angel from Metatron's inner circle. I need to know what they're planning, but so far, he's revealed nothing.
DEAN
So, you're done with the rough stuff, and you want us to be your goons?
CASTIEL
Well, you've had success at these situations before. If you don't want to do it, I understand.
DEAN
Who says I don't want to do it?
blegh. you know how i feel about the torture stuff, especially in relation to dean. and cas calling them in specifically just to torture information out of this angel. for a just cause though, of course, that makes it okay :|
truly enjoying sam's hair this season combined with very proportionately sized sideburns and now that we're finally less orange looking consistently. lookin good mister padalecki. dean looks like a slight wreck and like he's dissociating
wow show and boys, solving a problem without torture???? i am impressed! (seriously thank you eugenie and brad)
so much smiling and getting to put on this manipulative little show for the dude, fun to watch
cute cute (ignoring this whole abaddon bringing his son from the 1700s thing to force his hand is.... whatever this is)
GAVIN
You sold your soul?! Sold it?! For an extra three inches of willy?!
did we know this? i feel like maybe but i can't remeber lol
so i wonder how much was shaved, he has enough hair i think he could have an undercut there and still have more than enough. wonder if that's part of why i like it so much more. i know i've seen him with it up in a bun a couple times so i could go see when that was but that's waaaay too much effort
oh, dean and his slice and dice mark of cain flashback. again, fic gave me the impression the mark was going to be central to goings on but there's just so many subplots nothing really is central
maybe they should just keep a couple pairs of nitrile gloves on hand so, for example, they don't have to raw dog rifling through a corpse. a very slimy corpse
okay so crowley used sam and dean's go word and dean isn't telling sam because? (because he's not making good decisions either) and being all shifty
CASTIEL
Just as poor judgement undid you all those centuries ago, your mistaken trust in Metatron will bring you down again.
rich coming from you, cas 😂
okay weird fake solid blue birds. twitter product placement?? LOL
CROWLEY
Hello, Dean. Love the crazy bloodlust in your eyes.
must be really smitten now. bye abaddon, you were moderately fun and very beautiful to look at
CROWLEY
You owe me. Do I get no credit for warning you this was a trap?
[SAM looks perplexed.]
CROWLEY
"Poughkeepsie" ring a bell?
I sense drama.
his gleeful little laugh was cute
DEAN
Well, I don't know what to tell you. Them's the rules. He goes back.
SAM
The lore all says the same thing -- you change any one thing in the past, the ripple effect impacts everything that follows.
CROWLEY
Please. No one bends the rules like you two bend the rules.
made me laugh, points being made!
CROWLEY
I'll cheer the day when the last trace of humanity leaves me. Feelings.
relatable
DEAN
First time I touched that Blade...I knew. I knew that I wouldn't be stopped. I knew I would take down Abaddon and anything else if I had to. And it wasn't a hero thing. You know, it wasn't... It was just calm. I knew. And I had to go it alone, Sammy.
SAM
Oh. Of course. So it was just another time where you had to protect me.
DEAN
You could've gotten nabbed by Abaddon, and she could've bargained her way out. We couldn't afford to screw this up.
okay but dean how about you have that conversation beforehand instead. asking for permission/begging for forgiveness
also can't remember sam turning in his seat like that before in one of these feelings-laden chats, really means business. so... effusive in his concern and everything lately
sam's soaking up all the empathy leaking out of dean
SAM
Look...I'm glad it worked out, okay? I am. And I'm glad the Blade gives you strength or calm or whatever, but, Dean, I got to say... I'm starting to think the Blade is doing something else, too.
DEAN
Yeah? Like what?
SAM
I don't know. Like, something to you. Look... I'm thinking until we know for sure that we're gonna kill off Crowley, why don't we store the Blade somewhere distant? Lock it up somewhere safe? Okay?
DEAN
No.
well i'm glad we get to hear about the effects of the mark/blade combo finally. it's really been the backburner plotline. again i know what it leads to, but not how we get there
this episode made the angel politics about as tolerable/interesting as i think they can get, so woo for that (missing the days of cas popping in and getting irritated because he's in the middle of an offscreen war)

There's only one week left in the Kickstarter campaign for the audiobook of my next novel, a post-cyberpunk anti-finance finance thriller about Silicon Valley scams called Red Team Blues. Amazon's Audible refuses to carry my audiobooks because they're DRM free, but crowdfunding makes them possible.

journey
Today confirmed I do not like long car rides, particularly if I am the driver. It wasn't even too bad, but at 45 minutes each way, I was toast by the time I got home. I took Hannah to Nyack to meet an old colleague sort of halfway (he lives in Poughkeepsie) and his daughter. She's about 8 months younger than Hannah but is very similar to my niece so they got along pretty well. It was nice to catch up and let the girls play together while we had lunch.
I don't know what we did so that I can trust Hannah so much, but I know she won't run away and definitely won't run into the street. This girl was a runner just like Hannah's cousin, and who knows if it is cause or effect, but the stress level that parents seem to endure when their kids just run and purposefully don't stop or listen is crazy.
She also drew this on her own in the car!
