Zruxurxur little shitty crack au idea I came up with while I was in the shower lol
The quality deteriorates because it really really fucking late and I need sleep.
If youre confused, congratulations!
The au is called "holy shell au" it's essentially just, rottmnt, but Mikey's shell gets possessed by a strange deity or something.
Idk man I just think I'm funny ok.
Anyways, bonus:

*Slams open the door to your inbox very, very loudly*
I HAVE ANOTHER IDEA FOR AN AU
But this one is a little bit deranged.
AU where only Donatello and Karai are raised by Splinter and the rest (Leonardo, Raphael and Michelangelo) were raised by the Shredder. (Or vice versa idk which would be funnier)
It's stupid, I KNOW— but wdnsixjsks—
Just imagine the lone turtle being raised by the opposite side of the other three, accompanied with just as fierce + overprotective older sister who'd drop kick anyone who ever attempt to claim the title as 'Donatello's older sibling'.
Donnie'd be so confused to suddenly have a group of the same species as him suddenly thrusted into his life after spending years of beliving he's the only one— and oh look they're now claiming him to be their brother, how neat.
Karai is NOT happy because that's HER little brother and they have to pry him out of her cold, dead hands.
Leo and Raph would be, "You're our master's daughter and that's OUR little brother", to which Karai would be, ">:0".
Cue to Mikey and Donnie arguing who is older.
I'm not sure about you, but I am also a sucker for (over)protective Mikey. It's a neat concept, one that hasn't been explored much by the fandom— but arhwidnsidnsi.
I just love the purple genius, okay?
This AU is purely crack and self-indulgent at this point hahah.
-Ellestrade
Donnie didn’t consider himself to be a bad son, per say.
Sensei always had a list of rules to keep him safe. Never go down to the ground floor unless the dojo was closed for the day. Never open the curtains because he might be glimpsed. Never go out into the yard unless he got permission or had one of them with him.
And never, under any circumstances, was he to enter New York City.
Sensei was always very careful when it came to his safety. It’s the whole reason that he found a place outside the city for him to grow up, miles away from people, but close enough to the city that Miwa could visit to terrorize socialize whenever she feels cooped up.
Donnie’s never had that luxury, but now he was fifteen.
Fifteen was practically driving age. Fifteen is old enough to be in a high school and get invited to parties that sounded unsafe and rent adult movies behind parents backs and get to buy things at stores or check out books at the library!
He’s definitely responsible enough to borrow some books on his own.
Fifteen is also the perfect age for sneaking out and breaking rules.
It’s not really his fault. It’s the hormone and teenage ritual stuff. He couldn’t help it, probably. That’s what Miwa always says. Sensei buys it sometimes. He goes easy on her. So when Donnie wakes up to a carpeted floor and a splitting migraine, he knows he’s been caught and he’ll need every reasonable excuse that he can get his hands on.
It’s his birthday, anyway. Sensei can’t be too mad.
There are muffled voices around him as he lifts his head, immediately regretting it when pain spikes from his skull and scatters across his forehead. He clutches at his skull, groaning miserably. He’s never had an all-nighter migraine this intense before.
He supposes that this is what Miwa would call a personal problem as remains on the ground, forcing his eyes open to get a read on the situation. He expects to see his father hovering as Miwa goads him into a punishment because the consequences of his actions was never enough for her.
Somehow, his father usually ends up letting him off the hook instead. A perk of being an extinct species that can never see the light of day, he supposes, is endless sympathy points.
Donnie’s greeted with three shells, four blinding overhead lights, five individual weapons, and six eyes, all balanced out by a truckload of confusion. He stares, blinking sluggishly, as one of the turtles announces, “Well, he’s not dead.”
And just like that, this has officially slotted itself to be the weirdest dream Donnie has ever had.
DON’T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT I HAD TOO-
So anyway, feel free to assume that he’s in pain and kidnapped for any number of reasons because I have about twelve different ideas and they are all equal GREAT for the crack AU atmosphere that is in development in my brain.
I’m just imaging a backstory where Shredder fought the Kraang (cause he was hangry or something, who knows) and the turtles (sitting abandoned in the alley, maybe?) are corrupt with mutagen.
Absolutely dumbfounded but not stupid enough to leave the little freaks of nature behind, he (still human) snatches three of them, accidentally leaving one behind.
Hours/days later, Toddler Miwa hear Donnie crying, barely alive and all alone. Obviously, dad and daughter care for him.
Shredder and Yoshi are still human, but neither is on guard for the other. They both think the other remains in Japan.
Their sons don’t grow up hating each other’s guts. They are both trying to leave their past behind. Yoshi is raising his family. Shredder is growing his empire.
So Donnie didn’t grow up knowing he had other brothers because no one knew they existed. Ergo, I imagine Donnie would be confused at first, but after fifteen years thinking that he’s alone in the universe, he’s eager to learn everything about these three fellow turtle mutants in ninja gear. He’s a bit perturbed about the fact that they keep making excuses to keep him from leaving, but he’s not to concerned about it. He has brothers! How neat is that?
And since it’s a crack AU, it would be absolutely hilarious if Donnie seems like this naive, learned soul, who cannot social in the slightest- but the second that the need calls for it, he knows how to use several different type of weapons and can take all the brother down single-handedly. He had fifteen years of no brotherly distractions and a sister who takes training very seriously. Why wouldn’t he?
It’s why he’s not concerned with technically being held hostage. He’s reasonably certain that he can take them. And he proves it when Karai finds him and tries to take him home, only for the brothers attempt to stop him from leaving.
Of course, he always feels bad about his supremely awesome and instinctive skills. He prefers his studies.
No, but your “pry him out of her cold, dead hands” comment made me think that she’d need a reason to feel threatened. If they bond before she finds him, Donnie will begin looking at his older brothers (yes, even Mikey, who adores being able to feel in charge of someone) like, well, eldest brothers, and Karai will sense the change.
And, obvs, be completely and utterly ticked off by it.
Donnie’s spent his entire life admiring her and everything that she does- how DARE she have to share his attention with these three random strangers that literally kidnapped him?!
And his older brothers will all immediately decide that this lost child is theirs’ for one reason or another. And obviously, the safest thing to do when you find a stray mutant like you is to take it home and give it care. Heck, if it turns out to be your brother, even better!
HAPPY FIFTEENTH BIRTHDAY! YOU BELONG TO A GROUP OF NINJA TURTLES NOW, ADOPTED LIKE A LOST CAT! CONGRATS!

*ahem* Boys Bands -- Future Idols TR AU
In which Takemichi doesn't have to prevent Toman & co to become criminals which will only cause them suffering
But in which Takemichi has to prevent Toman & co to enter the Japanese idols world because it will only cause them suffering
Random thoughts about it:
First of all, it remains dark af; it's the Japanese idols world we're talking about after all (aKa, the deaths will happen. Perhaps in another way than in canon, but they'll be there)
Kisaki doesn't himself become an idol (although he will deal with the outside stuffs/become Mikey's agent or something like that)
Toman is just a Boys Band at first (and is boiled down to the Founders+Captains and vice-captains)
Toman will have become an idol group anyway but Kisaki speedruns the process
Mikey wants to make (dead) Shinichiro proud
·✨BLACK DRAGON BOYS BAND✨
The fact Shinichiro disbanded the idol group caused a lot of controversies, but overall every members (+fans and staffs) had to accept it. Shinichiro left it all behind for Mikey (then opened his motor shop and lived in tranquility until he died)
Backstories remain the same
Inui - althought because of his scars, he can't - somewhere deep down wants to become an idol too, since he looks up to BD. He handles security (of Izana's; Taiju doesn't become an idol, I just.. can't see it)
Koko also isn't an idol but an agent
Hanma is there to help Kisaki with security/his plan+He's the one to actively have ties with criminal organizations (he's definitively a part of it too, but nobody can prove it). If a controversy happens, Kisaki will shift the blame on him
... Takemichi doesn't remember it because ✨middle school trauma thanks to local bully Kiyomasa✨ but his childhood dream was to become Japan n°1 idol (hence, Kisaki wanting a spot at the top too (although Mikey is the idol. But Kisaki finds a way to be known too))
Mizo boys band. They never go really far, but it exists
Izana took over Black Dragon etc... Resents Mikey
Mucho leaving Toman for Tenjiku -drama
Kazutora not being known by fans & co since Shinichiro's death+his stay in juvie
Valhalla drama. Don't know how to do this one but. Valhalla happens.
Brahman has only Senju on stage
Like Inui, Kakucho and Sanzu can't be idols because of their scars. Well. Sanzu finds a way to be in the background with his mask on (+ reminder: he is ranked 3rd worst singer, so he can't have a leading role anyway)
Takemichi is having a hard time becoming an idol since he is ranked 1st worst singer - but he has to save everyone so he'll do it anyway and will stop Kisaki and his plans!
I have no idea what initial goal to give to Takemichi if Hinata doesn't die at first and I don't know how to make Hinata dies in this AU. Since Kisaki still has ties with underground activities I guess the same premise as canon works
Wakasa never sings (on stage/where fans can hear him). He is canonically ranked 2nd worst singer. His pretty boy face still helped a lot to launch Black Dragon
Takeomi's scar created a controversy and led to him leaving stage (he still helped in the background) until Shinichiro ended BD seemingly out of nowhere - aside from Wakasa's pretty face and Shinichiro's natural charisma, Takeomi's negotiation skills and his way with words helped a lot too
Bonten group has to be veryyyy careful with Sanzu and it's drug abuse since his life (and their by extension) can be entirely ruined if the public ever learns about it (welcome to Japan where idols/celebrities have to be perfect otherwise they are shamed until the publicly apologized and/or quit and live quietly for the rest of their life)
The Haitani Brothers are absolutely living it up (whether it's S-62 boys band, Black Dragon under Izana boys band, Tenjiku boys band(or idols group if they succeed to have a contract? after all they're almost all 18 now, they can't remain a little boys band forever. (-Mucho), or whatever-name-would-their-group-have in Manila timeline or Bonten) - Ran accepts his fame with open arms and Rindo is glad people listen to his music and/or songs
South gets famous bc: 1. He sings goooood (ranked n°1 best singer by Wakui (followed by Senju and Mikey)), 2. foreigner
It's the exact same reason why Senju and Mikey get famous too btw (-even if all three of them are part Japanese, but physically it's a bit hard to tell (a bit less for Mikey than the 2 others))
Ig it could be the same for Izana
Draken has to hide his tattoo to his great disarray and displeasure to not cause any controversy (+has to actively hides his upbringing)
Mikey is losing more and more what the meaning of being an idol is, and how fun it is made believed to be; how fun it initially was when they were still a little boys band having fun (if not for the deaths, being an idol in Japan in itself makes him depressed)
Their (canonical) nickname are the nicknames fans use for them (there are some others too, but those are the one everyone knows of)
I feel like Hakkai will still find a way to be in the boys band even tho he has a noticeable scar. It's bc he's too pretty, handsome, and he can sing, probably
Yuzuha isn't an idol but she still has an important fan club for some reason (she really doesn't get it and just wants to be there to help Hakkai)
Mitsuya is busy being an idol but somehow he still finds the time to draw outfits idea for the production team (sometimes he even sews them himself, they all wonder when he finds the time to sleep (and how he doesn't look like a zombie))
btw, even if Kakucho doesn't become an idol (he doesn't really care anyway, he just wants to be around to help Izana and he doesn't have to be an idol as well to do that) he sings great (a lil birdie told me this). Tenjiku/S-62 doesn't complain about being the only ones to know that
If you have any, any thoughts about this, pls share, I'm having way too much fun
#im currently analyzing different stuffs on my own and procrastinating but my sister and I just thought about this#..crack treated seriously(?) - AU so here have it#in which everything's the same but they're idols instead of highly powerful and influential criminals#Black Dragon Boys Band. BDBB. this close to be BBBB or BDBD.. what a shame#tr#tokrev#tok rev#tokyo revengers#black dragon#tenjiku#toman#tokyo manji gang#tokyo manji kai#manjiro sano#mikey sano#fanfiction ideas#ig#takemichi hanagaki#shinichiro sano#who i am supposed to tag seriously#HOW DO I TAG THIS#haitani brothers#three deities arc but its.. through a idol lense. who will have the most fans? who will succeed to be famous? how far will they go to erase#the others?

TMNT
This came to me in a dream. TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja . . . Terriers
Lmao let's go
RAPHAEL:
The oldest, biggest brother. He's an Airedale Terrier, with strong arms and legs built to protect his family. He's bold, stubborn, and determined to do the right thing. He's loyal and loveable, but he doesn't like to admit it. He's got grace, but he uses his strength over his smarts or looks. He's an act first, ask questions after kind of guy.
Next Up
LEONARDO:
The middle child, along with Donatello, this good boy is an American Staffordshire Terrier. He's loyal, friendly, and trustworthy to the end. His movements are agile and graceful, with a springy gait that aids to his confidence. He likes mental and physical challenges, anything to stimulate his active mind. Regarded as a handsome breed, he takes his good looks as the most positive about him and uses it to his advantage. He's game for anything, and especially down for a sparring match in the grass.
Now, before you get mad at me, I think this one really fits, but is also the most HILARIOUS
DONATELLO:
The "egghead" middle child, Donnie is a Bull Terrier. He's witty, he likes his alone time, and he's literally got an egghead. An endearing guy, once you get to know him, and sometimes incredibly stubborn. He's got excellent balance, both physically and mentally. He likes his quality time, whether that's with his family or alone in a lab. He may have a hard time expressing himself, but he's totally devoted to his loved ones. He constantly needs something to occupy his mind and hands, whether that's a project or a fight. He could be better with change, but he's no spring flower. He's the first one to warn of danger, and will tell it loudly, most likely in the form of blaring alarms (that he designed, of course).
And last but CERTAINLY not least
MICHELANGELO:
He's the spunky, curious, and creative youngest! He's an American Hairless Terrier. Loyal and fun, he's the most outgoing of the bunch and will make friends the easiest. He may be small, but he's got enough courage to be bigger than anything! He's got a jaunty pep in his step and a trust level through the roof. He sees the good in everyone, but if you betray that trust prepare to be annihilated because he ain't holding back. He's got a good middle ground of the need to relax and the need to play, and he's willing to let the others know when it's time to take a break. He's ready for any situation, adapting to change like water through a sieve. He's the most affectionate of the family, and he's the one to initiate dog piles!
#rottmnt#rise tmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#rottmnt donnie#rottmnt leo#rise of the tmnt#rottmnt mikey#rottmnt raph#tmnt#does this count as an original adaptation#lmao#this counts as crack right#the turtles as dog breeds#because i'm obsessed with dogs and turtles#donnie and leo are still twins#i like to think of donnie as the elder#but it's up to interpretation in this one#literally no one is gonna care about this silly au

can you pleaas give us random facts about woh au? I really love it i can hear you (will read you talking to be more correct) all day long! But I don’t have and certain things to ask
I will eat anything (((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))♡
Of course ^^

This might be long…

Not really accurately shown here, but their general heights are: Weapon! Raph(Red)8 ft. , Don(Purple) and Leon(Blue) 7ft. , Mikey(Orange) 5”7 and April(Yellow) 5”4. Their height varies a-lot so don’t mind it much :)
Due to their very flashy and quite destructive arrival, the Hamato Clan was created centuries earlier. The original Foot is still older, and their rivalry is still bloody.
The weapons got a-lot of nicknames over the years, but for some reason, it always loops around to their colors.
While their surroundings differ for each individual, their realms always consist of a cherry blossom tree and Japanese bellflower.
Donatello and Michelangelo sneak out alone a lot, often either coming back with scrap or covered in paint stains.
Their visits happen during meditation or sleep.
Michelangelo learns how to cook a lot quicker, especially after the incident™️…. He is much more ready to bounce, hop, and swing around with his chains. He CANNOT stand still, especially after mystic discharges.
Quite often, he picks up his brothers without thinking. He is also more likely to act without thinking(wow this place is really quiet, let's scream-)
Donatello watches a lot of melodramas and often paints his weapon a bright purple despite his brothers teases. He always has his weapon near him at all times and talks out loud more than his brothers, rivaled by only Mikey.
He was the first to have a conversation with his weapon.
His sass is immeasurable, but his social skills are 0.
He always has a project in the works, and it's always more grander than the last.
Yes, he might have committed a few crimes, but if there is a purple fuzz blocking the view of the cameras, clearly, it didn't happen.
Leonardo has gained an annoying habit of leaning on his sword and often leans too far and falls. He also experiences insomnia after his portals activate and hates being alone in the dark.
April and Donnie start out as friends. I.e I have been infected by this beautiful post .
Apriltello/Capriltello/Jonatello/Capril or any other ships will not be the main focus, dw. Also, leo and karai will not have that whole… situation. Only friendship to bffs to siblings, thanks to the fruity sword 👍
Leonardo and Raphael fight less often, but when they do, it gets quite messy. Doesn’t help they have a hard time opening up.
Fear his puns.
Leo is very spiritually inclined and is usually sleepy, sometimes falling asleep during katas. He gets the most visits because of this. Not in season 3 tho-
He has to clean his sword(s). Daily.
Raphael still paints and has a giant collection of teddy bears. When Michelangelo asks him why he has many teddy bears, he is often pelted by a few. It doesn’t seem like he made them for himself.
Raphael suffers from chronic brothers-climbing‐on-his-shell syndrome. Literally. There is no brick left unsmashed when he gets into a fight, and at least on bone must be cracked. Why? Stress release.
Strangely, after activating his mystics, Spike gets a bit hissy for a while. And he stinks.
He shows a bit more affection to his brothers, mostly Mikey, but only hugs.
She hangs around much more often in the lair because of a familiar pull. She's a sucker for romances, and all the shows the turtles show her. Her favorite is, of course, SRMFF(Super Robo Mecha Force Five!)
Similar to canon, April hates being belittled and her family being in distressed. After her dad is mutated, she does try to take some time away from her friends. Including her weapon, much to their chagrin.
Once she starts training, April becomes an adrenaline junkie. Sometimes, she invites one of the boys to join her, albeit with a disguise. Leo and Raph often try to avoid those outings.
She's a little introverted, but becomes more open towards others when she meets the turtles. Especially when she gains her weapon.
Due to her being psychic, it's a lot easier for her to discover a new friend, with a few... setbacks, of course.
Yoshi has seen the weapons outside of their weapons. So has Saki.
Splinter is a bit more laid-back, not enough to not be extremely worried every time his kids come home with bruises, but enough that it's easier to convince him they may go topside. Maybe because he too, likes the TV.
After he uses his own mystics, he usually disappears to the dojo. Snores always follow
When the turtles leave Splinter with their weapons, either from being grounded, a lesson, or end of training pre-episode 1, he usually looks annoyed, amused, or tired. And it's not because of his kids.
Splinter is able to wield their mystic weapons masterfully, but their ninpo ones are a different story.
Like always, some of these might be different in the future but I think I got it right for now ùvú

so this is not technically something I wrote fresh, but something I've never posted publicly. this grew out of some "AU within an AU' talks about what would have happened if Donnie and Leo had a "twin sense" during the events of the room fic.
I'm posting this today for @whumpay 's first supernatural prompt, "Psychic Link"
cw: starvation and kidnapping mentioned
---
When Leo’s connection first disappeared, Donnie hadn’t been too worried. Sometimes, especially times like these, when he felt like the world was against him, Leo portaled somewhere far away, where their “twin sense” (as he insisted on calling it) didn’t reach. In ways, the quiet was nice, and Donnie got some work done.
And then he didn’t come back. And the quiet was no longer nice.
———
It comes back at the same time the Rockies come into view on the horizon.
It starts as a faint pulse, the vague suggestion of someone’s else’s feelings. The way it used to be back before they fully awakened their powers, when Donnie still denied the “twin sense” even existed. But it grows, slow at first, then increasing exponentially, until it cracks through into full, startling clarity.
Donnie gasps, and the wheel in his hands jerks.
In hindsight, he should have stopped driving the moment he felt it.
“Dee!” yells April, and then someone is hitting something, and “AUTOPILOT” flashes bright red on screen, and he can barely register what it means because he can’t focus on anything right now but
cold
hungry
exhausted
scared
exposed
alone alone alone
“No!” he shouts. Hands grab him and pull him out of the chair and away from the dash. “No! I’m here, Leo, we’re here!”
People are talking and shouting around him. The tank slows and stops and no no no, they have to keep going, they have to get there right now-
“Here, Donnie.”
Someone is holding something out to him. He takes it in his hands, belatedly recognizing it as his hoodie. Cold, so cold his teeth keep chattering. Exposed, they’re looking at him, watching him.
He yanks the hoodie on and wraps his arms tight around himself. He’s sitting on the floor and he rocks back and forth.
“Donnie, talk to us,” says a voice. Raph’s voice? “What’s wrong?”
Donnie laughs once, high and hysterical. What isn’t wrong?
“Come on, Dee. We’re here, just talk to us.”
Donnie scrubs at his eyes. He’s crying. He doesn’t know whose tears they are.
“H-he’s cold,” Donnie explains. “Leo.”
“Okay,” says Mikey’s voice somewhere above him. “What else?”
Donnie swallows hard. “Scared. H-hungry. Really hungry.”
“…Do you think,” says Mikey softly, tinged with hope, “he got out? And he’s lost in the mountains somewhere?”
“No,” says Donnie quickly, shaking his head. “Watching him, watching me, exposed, trapped-“
“He’s still trapped,” Raph repeats. “They still have him.”
Donnie nods quickly. It’s not an actual thought, that’s not how it works, they can’t talk to each other. But he knows that if Leo had escaped, these feelings would be different.
“Okay.” Raph lets out a deeply held breath, then asks, “Would eating help? We can get you a snack.”
Donnie nods again, sharp. It won’t fix things for Leo, won’t nourish his body. But it might bring him some relief, if only for a little while.
They move him to the bench seat. Wrap a blanket around him. Press a big bag of trail mix into his hands. He eats it fast and greedy - he hasn’t been keeping up with three meals a day since Leo went missing, but now he makes up for it, now he’ll eat as much as he can if it helps Leo feel better for even one minute.
And he presses these feelings back through the connection.
warm
full
safe
covered
together together together
He doesn’t know if it gets through. Leo’s misery is a deep abyss, trying to pull them both down. But he reaches through it to take Leo’s hand, and pulls.

Baby Steps — Manjiro (Mikey) Sano

♡ mikey pregnancy reveal au
♡ this one is short and sweet
♡ enjoyy~~
Mikey sat on the couch, one leg tucked beneath him, idly flipping through a car magazine. His hair, tousled and falling in soft strands over his forehead, made him look younger than he was, his face lighting up every so often when a bike or car he liked caught his eye.
You stood in the doorway, the test clutched tightly in your hand. Mikey was a ticking time bomb, unpredictable. How would he react? Would he be happy? Scared? Both?
“Jiro…” you said softly, voice trembling.
Mikey glanced up, his dark eyes immediately locking onto yours. He tilted his head, the tiniest frown creasing his brow. “What’s wrong, Y/N? What’s with that look?”
You hesitated, fingers curling tighter around the test. “I need to tell you something.”
He sat up straighter, suddenly alert, the playful glint in his eyes replaced with concern. “You’re not breaking up with me, are you?” he blurted, his voice almost panicked.
“No! Oh my God, no!” you exclaimed, the tension in the air cracking slightly. “It’s nothing like that. It’s… well, it’s… big.”
“Big, huh?” Mikey leaned back, crossing his arms over his chest. “Bigger than the time Draken stole a box of my taiyaki?”
“Mikey, I’m serious.”
His teasing smile faltered, and he nodded. “Okay, okay, sorry. Tell me.”
You took a deep breath and held out the test. Mikey blinked, clearly confused, and then reached for it. His eyes scanned the results, and his expression froze.
For a moment, he didn’t say anything. Just stared.
“Mikey?” you whispered, heart pounding. “Please say something…”
Then, he looked up at you, his lips parting into a slow, disbelieving smile. “Wait… you’re…?”
You nodded, tears welling in your eyes. “I’m pregnant.”
His smile grew impossibly wider, and suddenly he was on his feet, pulling you into a hug so tight it nearly knocked the breath out of you. “You’re serious? Like, actually serious?”
“Yes, I’m serious!” you laughed, the sound shaky with relief.
Mikey pulled back, his hands resting on your shoulders as he gazed at you with a mix of awe and excitement. “I’m gonna be a dad?”
“Yeah.”
For a split second, his usual carefree mask slipped, and you saw the raw emotion in his eyes. “Holy shit,” he whispered, before his grin returned. “Our kid’s gonna be so cool. Like, the coolest ever. They’re gonna love bikes and sweets, and… oh my God, wait… can I teach them to fight!?”
“Mikey!”
“Okay, okay, maybe not right away,” he conceded, laughing. “I can’t believe this is really happening, Y/N.”
His hands slid down to your stomach, tentative and gentle. “Hey, little one,” he murmured, his voice soft and full of wonder. “It’s me, your dad. I promise I’m gonna be the best dad ever. Or, at least, I’ll try my hardest.”
Tears slipped down your cheeks, and Mikey, noticing despite his playful nature, wiped them away with his thumb. “No crying, ‘kay? We’re happy. Right?”
You nodded, smiling through your tears. “Yeah, we’re happy.”
He pressed a kiss to your forehead, his arms wrapping around you once more. “Good.”

hold the world to its best (6/?)
rottmnt word count: 2k pairing: raph & OC title borrowed from light by sleeping at last part of the archer au
(prev) (next)
x
The storm rolls in later than the forecast called for, starting in earnest the next afternoon.
The first crack of thunder is so loud, even underground, that it makes everyone jump and Mikey almost fumbles the huge mixing bowl of eggs he’s whisking. It even startles SHELLDON awake from the nap he was taking in the charging dock in the corner. The string of beeps he lets out must be something pretty foul in binary, because Donnie whips around as quick as a snake.
“Watch your language in front of the impressionable youth!” he yells after his kid, who makes a quick escape down the hall.
Raph’s about to step into the line of fire for his robot nephew’s sake and point out the obvious—that none of them have half an idea what SHELLDON said, let alone the four-year-old among them—but Leo beats him to the punch.
“Uhhhhh speaking of the impressionable youth,” the slider says, “where’s George?”
“He’s right—oh,” Mikey stops short. His tiny spotted helper has vanished from where he had been parked on the stool pushed up to the counter.
Mikey puts his bowl down and joins Leo in looking around, a frown tugging at his mouth. While he’s distracted, Leo swipes a chunk of bell pepper from his cutting board, which may or may not have been his endgame all along.
“That’s so weird, he was here two seconds ago,” Mikey says.
Raph pushes back from the table and gets up to check the living room. A Jupiter Jim movie is playing on the projector, and Gio has revealed himself to be as much of a fan as the rest of his siblings are, but there are no little turtles sitting transfixed in front of the screen.
“Not in here,” he reports back.
“Stay calm, people, we have protocols in place for this,” Donnie says, tapping his bracer until it projects a holographic screen of color-coded GPS location pins.
“Donald, you did not microchip that baby,” Mikey intones ominously.
“Of course I didn’t. That would be unethical,” Donnie replies. He even rolls his eyes, because he has no sense of danger. “I implanted the chip in his nineteen-year-old self two days after he first moved in, like a reasonable person.”
Raph pinches the bridge of his beak and reminds himself to revisit this conversation later. For the hundredth time in their lives.
“Can you find the kid or not, Dee?”
“Please, name literally one time my Genius Built methods have ever failed us in any capacity. Of course I can find him,” Donnie scoffs, only to frown at the big error symbol that pops up on the holoscreen a second later. “Ah. Update, due to certain magical interference, the tracker currently does not exist. I can’t find him.”
“Great contribution, Tello,” Leo says, sounding like he’s fighting for his life to keep a straight face. “Maybe now we can just look for him with our eyes.”
Another rumble of thunder bullies into the conversation. The new lair is a repurposed subway station, closer to the surface than the old one had been, and this is the first time it’s stormed this hard since they moved in, so none of them were prepared for the magnitude of the sound. It reverberates through the tunnels and pipes, amplified by the metal and cement and hollow spaces.
“He probably went after SHELLDON,” Raph reasons. “I’ll go find him. You two bozos stay put and help Mike finish making lunch.”
“Are you punishing them or me?” Mikey demands. Behind him Leo steals a cherry tomato off the cutting board, because he also has no sense of danger. Raph gets while the getting is good.
Gio isn’t in the lab, where SHELLDON is buzzing around singing Speed Drive by Charli xcx to himself, or the bathroom.
Anxiety begins to stir in the back of his heart, where it’s lived for as long as he can remember. It sleeps some of the time, but not as much as it used to.
The steps leading up to the front door have been baby-gated to lengths of absurdity, part of Donnie’s manic lair-wide Georgie-proofing—so the odds of Gio making it past the stairs and into the dark maze-like tunnels in the handful of seconds someone wasn’t actively watching him are slim to none.
It doesn’t stop Raph from worrying. He doesn’t want to shout Gio’s name, because he doesn’t want to do anything on purpose that would make that little boy’s eyes get big and fearful, but he can feel his steps getting more frantic with every room that he checks that comes up empty.
The door to Gio’s room is ajar—it’s rarely ever closed—and Raph pokes his head in without expecting much. Baby Gio got an eyeful of it on the whirlwind tour Mikey took him on but didn’t seem particularly interested in exploring the space.
It’s a comfortable room. Cozy, even, which is a style that a total stranger might be surprised to find out that Gio subscribes to, but absolutely no one who knows him needed longer than one second to conceptualize before they realized it made perfect sense.
There are string lights draped across the ceiling, and a huge felt board that takes up half the length and height of the back wall, where photos and drawings and little mementos are pinned. A downy polka-dotted duvet swallows up the bed, and the curtains strung across the front-facing window, to block some of the light that beams in from the living areas, are polka-dotted for good measure—because if there’s one thing this family loves, it’s leaning into a bit.
And it would be tidy if not for Gio’s little siblings leaving evidence behind of their constant comings and goings. Donnie’s Switch and wireless headphones have been tossed on the bed, and Leo’s guitar is balanced crookedly on the chair by the desk, and the desk itself is covered in the half-inked pages of a graphic novel Mikey is brainstorming. Even one of April’s college textbooks has ended up in here.
Growing up, Raph never understood why all three little gremlins wanted to be in his room all the time—sprawled on his floor bickering over snacks, or cramming into his bed to make him watch two hour long video essays about any obscure topic under the sun—and then Raph got a big brother, and it all clicked. The huge pink beanbag that used to live in Raph’s room gravitated to the corner of Gio’s, where it ended up staying as a permanent fixture. Half the time Raph just lets himself in and flops into his designated seat, in the exact same way that Donnie and Mikey and Leo consistently get on his last nerve for doing.
Gio, who thinks everything his siblings do is silly or charming or both, complains about it a lot less than Raph does.
“Georgie?” he says, just in case there are any turtle toddlers lurking.
Of course no one answers, and he’s turning to leave and find another place to look, when he hears two separate sounds. A vicious growling bark of thunder that echoes down the tunnel, and a muffled whimper from much closer.
Raph stops dead in his tracks. Now he’s listening for that second sound again specifically, straining to hear it, all his ninja senses and supersoldier senses and—most of all—biggest brother senses on high alert.
He hears it, and follows it down onto his hands and knees to peer under the bed at where a tiny spotted turtle is hiding.
Gio’s face is streaked with tears and he’s shuddering from head to toe, hands clamped over his ears, limbs all curled up like every frightened instinct in his body is urging him to go inside his shell.
Feeling his heart break clean down the middle, Raph trips over himself to soothe, “Hey, hey, kiddo, it’s okay! Gio, what—”
Thunder rolls, and Gio flinches and makes another quiet sound of fear, and Raph realizes immediately what the situation is. He is also about two seconds from bodily lifting the bedframe and flinging it out of the way to better scoop Giorgio up. He has always, historically, hated any potential barrier between himself and his siblings with a single-minded fervor. He can’t even function when someone he loves is crying and he can’t reach them.
He reigns in the impulse to charge forward. It takes both hands and considerable willpower.
Running in recklessly always worked out when he was a child, because stakes were low and his brothers would follow him anywhere even if they fully believed his plan would fall apart as early as step one.
But as he got older, and had to force the leadership reins into Leo’s unwilling hands, and that charming and reliable guy who was forever on Raph’s right hand side with a clever idea or an exit strategy suddenly became someone willing to let them all fail just to prove a point, Raphael learned the value of thinking things through.
And he can’t just throw the bed out of the way, he reminds himself with gritted teeth, because that would scare the baby.
So instead he settles on his plastron right there on the floor, cheek pressed to the rug, and starts to rumble deep and low in his chest. April calls it his car engine sound, and Donnie has correlated it with the healing frequency of a cat’s purr more than once. Guaranteed to comfort frightened little turtles or your money back.
Sure enough, after a moment, Gio’s eyes peek open. He’s crying so hard he’s hiccupping, but other than that he’s barely made a peep. Until he manages to focus on Raph’s face, and then his sobs have a little voice behind them.
“Hey, big man,” Raph soothes. “Raphie’s right here. Nothing bad is gonna happen while Raphie’s right here.”
Gio doesn’t budge from where he’s wedged against the wall but he’s listening. He’s such a good kid, always listening. His limbs are curled so tight they must hurt, it would probably feel better for him to just pull inside his shell at this point, but for whatever reason he stays in a miserable little ball.
“That storm is pretty loud, huh? Raph doesn’t like it either.” He reaches an arm under the bed, offering a hand. “But you know something? The best thing about being part of such a big family is that we keep each other safe. Even when it gets loud and scary and makes you wanna hide, you’ve got all of us here on your team.” Then, with a silly frown, he adds, “I’ll go wrestle that storm right out of the sky and make it say sorry for being such a bully and making my Georgie cry. How ‘bout that?”
Thunder rumbles again, and Gio jumps and shivers at the sound, but when he starts to squirm it’s forward, towards Raph’s open hand. He holds it with both of his much smaller ones, tears dripping from his chin, grip white-knuckled.
Mouth wobbling, he bravely shakes his head.
“No?” Raph says, playful and gentle in equal parts. “Okay, I’ll stay in here with you instead. Do you think I could fit under there? Scooch over a bit.”
Something that might one day grow up into a smile touches just the corners of Gio’s mouth. He shakes his head again.
“Raphie’s too big,” he whispers. Raph scoffs in fake-offense and the almost smile on Gio’s face inches closer to the real thing. “We can go under the table,” he adds very earnestly.
“That’s the best idea I’ve ever heard,” Raph says, down for literally anything that will make his babyfied older brother stop crying. “Come on over here, spots. We’ll go together.”
Some jangling, dislocated thing in Raph’s heart only settles when he’s got Gio in his arms, tiny, insubstantial thing that he is. He sits on the floor for an extra minute, rumbling extra loud, until Gio’s pulse slows its frantic leaping into something closer to its normal resting rate. The next time the storm tries to speak up where it isn’t wanted, Gio’s tucked safely under Raph’s chin absorbing his car engine sound and only shivers.
Red catches Raph’s eye, a familiar hoodie hanging from the handle of the closet door. He’d given it to Gio months ago, when a cooking incident led to Gio’s jacket getting tossed into the wash, and Raph had said, “Here, you can borrow one of mine.”
He’d fished the old hoodie out of a basket of clean laundry and passed it over. It wasn’t anything to write home about, weathered and faded over the years, the hem stretched out and a corner of the hoodie pocket peeling away thanks to a loose string.
But Gio looked stunned when he saw it. He took it from Raph’s hands robotically and pulled it over his head with a mumbled thank you. It was laughably big on Raph’s big brother, who would probably only have a few inches on the twins for a few more years.
Raph grinned and helped Gio roll up the sleeves, saying, “All my siblings steal this one from me constantly. Right of passage. Look, see? Perfect fit!”
“Yeah,” Gio said hoarsely, thumbing carefully at the frayed hem as if it was spun with gold. “Perfect fit.”
Since he seemed to like it so much, Raph let it keep mysteriously ending up in his room. And Raph reaches over for it now, tucking it in with his armful of Georgie as a makeshift toddler blanket before he finally pushes to his feet.
“Sorry,” Gio says very quietly as they make their way back toward the light and laughter pouring out of the kitchen. “For hiding.”
“Don’t be sorry,” Raph says, startled. “Georgie, you got scared, that’s not your fault. Of course you hid, that’s what any smart little turtle would do. Mikey hides when the toaster pops too loud. And I get scared all the time.”
Gio clearly doesn’t believe him, frowning deeply. That stubborn face is one-hundred-percent their Gio.
“Raph’s too big and strong to be scared,” the spotted turtle retorts, as close as he’s likely to ever come to a more age-appropriate “nuh-uh!”
“Hah,” Raph says, “I wish that was true.” He looks down at Gio and tells him, “The thing that always makes me feel brave is remembering that I have all of you guys with me. I have a thing I say that helps. Maybe you can try it next time you get scared. Just say I’m not alone.”
“I’m not alone,” Gio repeats obediently.
One day, Raph thinks, it’ll stick.
Until then, they’ll keep reminding him. They’ll drag him out of the dark a hundred thousand times and lead him to a warmer, well-lit place, where his siblings will trip over themselves to put a smile on his face, even if that means eating frittatas on the floor under the kitchen table.
Leo keeps stealing food from Mikey’s plate until finally Mikey snaps and goes in for the kill, and Donnie shrieks when they kick over the pitcher of lemonade because now he’s sticky and someone will be paying for it, and Splinter comes in to investigate the noise and takes in the scene playing out under the table and says, “Why are you like this? Who raised you?”
The rest of the storm passes the way storms always do. The next time thunder rumbles through the lair, Gio is too busy giggling to hear it.

you buy me orange juice

college au!mikey way x gn!reader // ~1.5k words
tags: pt 1./?, fluff, few year age gap, friends to lovers, late night studying, recreational drug use, falling in love, feat. roommate frank for a couple sentences
a/n: self-indulgent mikey college au i wrote for myself that's probably ooc but maybe someone else'll enjoy it too <3
the stuffy air of mikey's dorm room was thick with the scent of weed and the sugar-cookie-scented candle you'd gifted him for christmas. the white noise of typing was louder than the CD that'd been playing when you fell asleep, now turned all the way down so that it was barely audible. you rolled over onto your side, cracking one eye open to see mikey chewing on his lip, face lit up by his open laptop screen.
"what're you doin'?"
at the sound of your voice mikey's face lit up with a smile, teeth losing their hold on his bottom lip as he turned to look at you. his hands paused, hovering above his keyboard before he reached out to trace a fingertip down your forehead.
"hey, kid," he murmured softly. the nickname made you whine, eyes squeezing back shut when he laughed. you were only a few years younger than him, but the nickname had stuck from when you'd first met. he'd been so excited to be hanging out with someone who didn't know his older brother that he'd immediately played up the few years difference between you both. you didn't mind. it had made the transition to university easier, feeling like someone was looking out for you. "sleep okay?"
"mhm. i didn't mean to fall asleep," you huffed, pushing yourself upright and letting your head fall to rest against his shoulder. "thought you were gonna wait so we could smoke together."
"i'm sorry, i'm just stuck on this fuckin' essay," he sighed. "figured you didn't wanna get high just to watch me study."
"'s okay," you replied, the warmth radiating off of mikey already making you sleepy again. the clock in the corner of his laptop screen read two in the morning, which should've been a surprise but really wasn't. "you want me to run and get you coffee?"
"where're you gonna get coffee at this time?" he asked, his expression so clear in his voice you didn't have to look up to know he was raising an eyebrow at you.
"the gas station," you replied, like it was obvious. mikey hummed softly before shutting his laptop.
"okay, let's go."
"hm?"
"let's go," he repeated, shrugging his shoulder to get you to lift your head. he slid his laptop to the free space at the end of the bed, standing up and grabbing his jacket.
"i can go for you, mikey," you tried, but you were smiling as you got up and reached for your jacket where it was thrown atop frank's bed.
"i'm not letting you go out alone at two in the morning," he shrugged, slipping his feet into the same beat-up converse he'd been wearing since you met him. now you were grinning, looking up from tying your laces to see mikey holding out a hand to you. he pulled you up, his warm palm against yours filling your stomach with butterflies. he let go as soon as you were upright, pulling on a hat just as you noticed the tips of his ears turning pink. "c'mon."
it was quiet outside, gusts of wind whipping around snowflakes that melted as soon as they touched the ground. mikey grumbled about his essay as you both walked, shoulders drawn up to his shoulders to keep the wind out of his face. his essay as he walked, shoulders drawn up to keep the wind away from his face as he rambled. you listened, even though you were still half-asleep, nowhere near awake enough to fully understand what he was talking about. he'd done the same for you on various occasions, listening to whatever was on your mind even if he couldn't do much to help (though more often than not he'd knock on your door a few days later, having done his own research on whatever was bothering you and ready to help out).
the warmth of the gas station enveloped you both as you walked in, poppy radio hits playing from the speaker as you both walked through the aisles. you grabbed a couple packs of cup noodles and mikey picked up a carton of orange juice before heading to the counter.
"can we get two coffees and a hot dog?" he asked the cashier, quickly pulling out his credit card before you could use yours.
"not fair, this was my idea," you hissed, hugging your noodles close to your chest so that he couldn't grab them and pay for those too. mikey just smiled, picking up two paper cups from the counter.
"i'll go fill these, just get the hot dog," he said, his smile growing into a grin when you shot him a glare. you didn't mind him paying, not when you could just bring coffee to his place the next time you showed up (and especially not when he glanced back at you, still smiling, while you paid for your noodles), but it was about the principle of it.
you took a bite out of the hot dog as you sidled up to him, resting your head against his shoulder as he stirred sugar into both your coffees.
"still sleepy?" he asked, humming softly when you nodded. "you can stay at my place if you want, i don't think frank's gonna be back until the morning."
"maybe," you mumbled, letting him take the hot dog from you. "thanks for paying."
"'course," was all he said, nudging the top of your head with his. "let's go, i gotta finish that paragraph tonight."
the walk back was sweet, like candy floss lingering on your fingertips sticky and bright pink. steam rose from the little gap in the covers over your coffees, taking on the orange colour of the street lights. you hummed softly to yourself, giggling when mikey joined in with you, singing along through a mouthful of food. the rest of the world was quiet and still, or at least as quiet and still as a student city ever got, except for the two of you. with the snowflakes falling it was almost as though someone had lowered the glass of a snow globe over you both, encapsulating this moment safe and sound where nobody else could reach you.
the door to mikey's room creaked as he pushed it open, and he immedately let out a groan.
"what?" you asked as you stepped past him, giggling when you noticed frank passed out in his bed. "oh, shit."
"fucker," mikey mumbled, setting his coffee down on his bedside table. "sorry, i figured he'd be too drunk to make it back."
"it's fine, i can walk myself back," you shrugged, kicking off your shoes and sitting down on the edge of mikey's bed. mikey nodded, quiet as he folded his jacket over the end of the bed, his hair unruly and sticking up when he pulled off his hat. "c'mere a second."
"what?" he asked, trying to keep his voice down as he sat down next to you. you reached out to smooth his hair back down, unable to hold back another giggle when he scrunched his nose a little. he didn't pull away though, letting you stroke every lock of his greasy hair back into place without complaint.
"there," you said, taking a sip of your coffee.
"you could stay over if you want, sleep in my bed. i got the juice you like and i'll wake you up in time for class," he suggested. when you hesitated he elbowed you gently, shifting to sit up with his back up against the headboard. "i can walk you back otherwise, don't worry."
you smiled, feeling warmth climb your cheeks.
"i can stay. if you're sure it's okay."
mikey smiled back at you, face lit up by his laptop screen as he clicked back to his assignment with a huff.
"c'mere then."
you let your jacket fall down onto the floor before you shuffled to sit beside him, slumping down so you could rest your head against his arm. as he typed away, deleting and retyping certain phrases over and over, you felt your eyelids begin to droop, the few sips of gas station coffee doing nothing to help keep you awake. you felt safe, tucked away against one of your closest friends with a CD playing quietly in the background, his arm moving slightly in time with each of his breaths.
you weren't sure when exactly you fell asleep, but you felt mikey take the coffee cup from where it was still in your hands, giving your fingers a gentle squeeze before he went back to writing. the last thing you heard was frank's bed creaking as he sat up, groaning softly.
"dude, how come i can't bring people over but you can?" he grunted, mikey's typing pausing for a moment.
"you're gonna wake them up."
"fine, whatever... shit, i think i'm gonna puke."
mikey's shoulder shook a little as he laughed, almost covering up the sound of frank shutting the bathroom door behind him. you smiled, shifting around a little so that your head was on the pillow beside mikey's hip. you could hear the smile still in his voice when he stroked the space between your brows with his knuckle and whispered softly to you.
"night."

So, um… Speaking of angst-
“Mikey?!”
Mikey whirls from where April is tying his arm, wincing from the heat that seers despite the cream. His eyes widen as Takeō and Akihitō burst into the room, uncaring of the Foot gear on their person, eyes watering as he dives to throws his arms around the necks, yanking them into a hug that practically drags them to the ground.
“What are you doing here?!” Casey snaps as Metalhead beeps in alarm. Mikey has to pull away as he pulls out his flame thrower. “No, Metalhead! It’s okay! They’re not a danger! They’re here to help!”
He steps back, looking between them. “You are here to help, aren’t you?”
“We heard about your lair.” Akihitō responds, ignoring the suspicious stares of the humans in the room. “We’ve been looking all over the city for you guys.”
Takeō scans the apartment, worry overwhelming the normally even expression. “Where’s Donnie?”
“We got separated! There were too many Kraang and he just- And then he was so mad and I just- I wanted to go after him, but this guy-” He kicks Metalhead and the robot remains unperturbed. “-won’t let me! But this is great! You’re here now! You have to find him!”
“Start over, Mikey.” Takeō hurries. “From the beginning. Where did you last see Donnie?”
“In the sewers! He got separated by a Kraang portal, but if we hurry, maybe we can-”
Metalhead shrieks.
It’s the only warning that Mikey gets before Akihitō is on top of him, pushing him to the ground before a projectile breaks through the window and crashes into the coffee table, hard back cracking the wood under it’s weight. It pushes the two slides forward until they are stopped by the couch, glasses painting the floor.
Mikey watches a long, green limb bounces limply against wood flooring, his older brother’s unmoving form coated in dirt, blood, and bruises. Metalhead doesn’t look back at him, uncaring that he’s being held down by a programmed enemy, darting for his creator.
Mikey’s never seen the robot look scared before, but he looks downright terrified as he stops by his side, metal hand pressing against pale skin.
He shoves at Akihitō and he pulls off, allowing Mikey to get to his feet, world drowning in the outside shouting and the wild beeps of a frantic bot. He looks at Mikey as he stops by Donnie’s side, blue eyes brighter than he’s ever seen. Mikey’s throat swells, choking his own, desperate words as he reaches for his brother.
“Donnie?”
He gets no response. Donnie doesn’t move- not when Akihitō lifts him up, not when green finger finds him pulse, not when he announces him alive. Akihitō looks like how Mikey feels, clutching the limp form to his chest, looking over at the brother next to the window. Mikey can’t look away, reaching out to touch the mask smeared with blood, wondering why Donnie couldn’t even listen to him, just this once.
“We have to go back!”
“Splinter can take care of himself. We need to keep moving-”
“And go where?!”
“I don’t know, Mikey! This wasn’t an eventuality that I could prepare for! But we have to do something.”
“We should find the guys-”
“No, absolutely not! The Foot are working with the Kraang! They’d only try to stop us or use us-”
“They’re wouldn’t do that-!”
“I’m not putting my trust in those-”
“We have to stay together-”
“We don’t have the time for a wild goose-”
“WATCH OUT!”
“APRIL!”
“HEY- HEY, KRAANG! I’M THE ONE WHO REVERSED YOUR MUTEGEON! I’M RIGHT HERE!”
“Donnie-!”
“METALHEAD, PRIME DIRECTIVE: MIKEY!”
“No, NO, DONNIE WAIT-“
“Takeō! Takeō!”
Mikey blinks, looking up to the wide emerald glare, tainted in a fear that leads him to follow his gaze. Takeō stands by the window, frozen, staring down to the street below. The young turtle shakily clambers to his feet. April takes his place as he makes his way over, muttering through her tears. Mikey reaches what’s left of the window and grabs his arm for support.
He has to know who did this. He has to know who hurt-
The Foot are visible below, surrounded by wreckage and Footbots, standing confident as New York goes up in flames. Mikey looks at him, but finds no recognition, no understanding, no hint that this was their plan all along. Mute horror keeps him in place, even as Akihitō calls his name once more.
Takeō stares down at Tiger Claw, blade tight in his grip.
“Sensei.” He breathes. “What have you done?”
OKAY— so like, we had scenarios of which the B-Team were raised by the Shredder, but what if it was the A-Team??
Shredder telling both Leonardo and Raphael (who now goes by Takeō and Akihitō respectively) lies about their younger littermates (Donatello and Michelangelo, whom he named as Junkō and Kōta)— telling them that their younger siblings have been ruthlessly killed by Hamato Yoshi, who had deemed them as an abomination.
In fact, Shredder wasn't even aware of the existence of the younger two; at least, not until both Takeō and Akihitō brought it up a few months after they were officially able to carry out missions and daily patrol. However, he couldn't deny that it's truly a blessing— there's a chance that they might know of Hamato Yoshi's location, and even then, Shredder can expand his army of powerful mutants.
Donatello and Michelangelo, on the other hand, aren't so thrilled about having to 2v2 their older brothers at just about everytime. There's also that the two have the tendency to play dirty. Stalking their friends and whatnot, it's driving them up the wall.
I don't know if Karai should be with the Shredder, because her rivalry with the A-Team over the younger onces is delicious.
What do you think?
I love this. No, no, wait, see my vision, look-
Takeō and Akihitō are everything that Shredder needs them to be. They took up training from the moment that their little legs could walk and they excelled past anything that he’d ever seen before, and one of Shredder’s greatest fighters happens to be blind, mind you, so he knows what greatness looks like.
He knows it has to relate to the fact that they’re mutants, but he couldn’t care less. With one student who bears a determination to please and the other with the violent fury to be molded like his own, they’re better than an entire legion of Foot soldiers. Takeō makes sure every command is followed and Akihitō leaves no enemy unpunched- what could be better?
They’re perfect. No, they’re better than perfect. They’re a miracle.
One that he never hesitates to take advantage of. If Yoshi had done one thing right in his lifetime, it was leading him to them.
And then- AND THEN-
Enter Mikey and Donnie.
The universe throws out two turtles with on obvious ignorance of surface life and an instinct to defend those that dwell on it. Leo and Raph’s world is thrown out of whack the first time that they spot them- considering Mikey is a younger-shaped replica of them with freckles. They keep an curious eye on them from a distance, but uncertain what to make of them, don’t interact.
They inquire about it to their father and (considering Saki likely stole them from Yoshi) he fabricates a story that horrifies them. They already know about Yoshi and how he killed Karai’s mother- but he tore apart their family too?
Afterward, it takes about five seconds to connect the dots on who these mutant turtles are. They go out to track down and reconnect with their brothers. *insert canon plot stuff*
When Donnie and Mikey try to save a kidnapped April, they fail pretty badly. The Saki brothers step in, stop the Kraang from taking the girl before Donnie and Mikey’s brains get blown out, but don’t really do much about them taking the dad. They don’t really care about the humans. They’re far more interested in prodding the turtles.
And, after taking April to her aunt’s, prodding absolutely happens from both sides.
The childish giddy air of the Junkō and Kōta upon finding their siblings obviously cements them as the younger siblings in the Saki brother’s minds. They don’t doubt for a moment that they are who they say they are because Splinter told them that they had two missing brothers as little kids.
Mind made up, Leo insists that they come home. Mikey insists that they have a home and Donnie admits they shouldn’t really wander off with strangers. They both vocalize that their rat dad needs to meet them first since he’s the one who lost them and he’s misses them and they don’t have to abandon their dad or anything, they just really want them to meet Splinter! (The Foot symbols on their gear mean nothing to the Hamatos and the name Splinter means nothing to the Sakis. Oopsy.)
And so they wait around for Mikey and Donnie to collect Splinter and then Splinter comes across his sons and Leo and Raph are tolerant until he introduces himself as Hamato Yoshi and then it all clicks that the man who Shredder thought killed their brothers and he had stolen them away instead and he’s the reason that they haven’t see them for fifteen years-
They don’t even give Yoshi time to explain before they’re attempting to eliminate the threat. Donnie and Mikey are insanely confused until one of the brothers lets it slip that their dad is Saki and- oh wait are they evil?!- so now there’s fighting, attempted forced reasoning and kidnapping of little brothers, but the Hamatos manage to get away.
So now Leo and Raph’s are simply DISTRAUGHT because the madman had stolen and brainwashed their little brothers so how were supposed to focus on anything else when they’re out there but actively on the wrong side of this war??
It trashes their game and suddenly his miracle team is no longer a shinning example of perfection. Once again, Yoshi has ruined something great and, instead of seething, Saki gets creative.
He fakes an understanding with what his sons are going through and expresses a wish that he knew where Yoshi was so that he could put an end to the threat. If only, they could find the lair where he was keeping their brothers prisoner, maybe then they rid the world of the rat and bring them home. Once they’re free from Yoshi’s dark influence, they could all be one happy family.
And Leo, like the helpful little leader he is, realizes that they could find the lair. Him and Raph could totally find a way to convince the brothers to take them home, or even find a way to get in without their knowledge. They were ninjas, masters of deception and lies. They could do it, Master, if only he would give them a chance?
So he does because an end to Yoshi and two new powerful warriors is more than he could hope for. Exactly what he deserves.
And the rest of the series is just Raph and Leo doing everything in their power to inch their way into their brother’s trust. They stalk them in a desperate itch to make sure they’re okay, which leads to them intercepting and assisting on a bunch of Kraang mission.
They run into each other when Donnie and Mikey try to stop the Foot from being evil, and Leo and Raph are more concerned with making sure nothing happens to their brothers that the Hamato brothers end up completing their mission more often than not.
Leo and Raph are still dedicated to the Foot but their priorities are skewed every time their brother come into play. Nine times out of ten, baby brothers take first priority. And Saki lets these mishaps happen because his sons are insistent upon gaining the Hamatos trust.
It doesn’t take Donnie and Mikey long to realize what Leo and Raph are doing, protecting-them wise. They don’t quite understand it, but they assume that even though they have been misguided and brainwashed by Shredder, they still are good people deep down. It’s incredibly annoying that they are always in the way and can’t seem to realize how what they’re doing is obviously evil, though.
Like plotting younger siblings do, they adapt to use the brother’s new apparent weakness against them, putting themselves in situations where the Saki brothers have no choice but to interviene- even if that means slicing their own bots or preventing their own missions from succeeding. And the best part is that the Saki brothers have no idea that they’re being played- they really just believe that their baby brothers are kinda bad at their jobs.
Which really doesn’t help with the whole PROTECT alarms constantly ringing in their brains.
As for Karai, I think she would still be with the Foot, but instead of a doting older sister, there would be jealousy vibes. She’d been overshadowed her entire life by these ‘perfect’ brothers and she jumps at the opportunity to impress her father when they start slipping. She could even play an antagonist role- actively trying to dissuade her father’s approval of Leo&Raph’s activities in order to get a better standing. She doesn’t want them murdered at the stake or anything, simply taken out of the favoritism role so that his actual human daughter (or so she thinks) can have a scrap of his attention.
I WAS GOING TO STOP HERE BUT YOU HAVE ME THINKING ABOUT PLOT AND SUCH NOW-
Like, Donnie would now be the eldest with the responsibilities of genius and leader, which means that he probably feels like his baby brother’s one line of defense against an entire universe. Splinter didn’t train his boys for war- but Saki did. Imagine the pressure on his shoulders to keep his family safe while actively on deadly missions with brothers who could turn on them at any second, stuck under the weight of wanting to get April reunited with her missing family.
Leo’s side of the spectrum is spent worrying that two of his brothers are under the abusive care of their kidnapper. He desperately hones the “but I can totally bring them to our side and make them see things our way!” attitude that he has for Karai during the canon series. He does everything in his power to keep the blame from falling on them when missions go wrong, fabricating stories for their father, like he’s always done to keep Raph out of trouble. He doesn’t care for the Hamato’s missions, but he cares greatly for their safety, so he makes sure they tag along at every opportunity, whether they are wanted or not. Stalking is never out of the question, even if it doesn’t take long for the Hamatos to adapt to their presence.
I CAN’T SHUT UP ABOUT THIS SUDDENLY:
So there’s this song “Our Word” from 36 questions that absolutely has the vibes from this au that has taken root in my brain and when I think of Leo being a sneaky little guy and keeping Raph out of trouble- IT FITS. Well, these specific verses anyway:
When I was a little [boy] Like really little, like eight or so I was playing in my father's study A place in the house I wasn't supposed to go
My father fancied himself a sailor His study was filled with nautical decor He kept a boat in a bottle on the top of a shelf And it shattered on the ground when I slammed the door
I told my [brother] everything I told [him] I was so, so sorry [He] told me, "Don't cry, When he comes home tonight We can make everything okay This is all we have to say"
"We don't remember a boat in a bottle It must've fallen off its shelf alone We know you loved it, we're so sad it's broken But neither one of us was even home"
And it's our word Yes, our word Against his
HOLY MOTHER OF MUTATIONS I AM DEVOURING THIS AU AND NOW I HAVE RETURNED WITH CONCEPT:
“You shouldn’t be out alone.”
Donnie lands as irritation crawls up his spine and becomes fuzzy little ambers in his brain. He has a few irrational thoughts, such as giving the nuisance a taste of throwing stars, but they’re dismissed as he pretends to check his t-phone. He can sense one entity behind him, but his partner doesn’t seem to be hovering nearby.
He turns, t-phone at his side, the cheese phone on speed-dial. He doubts the Foot ninja wants to kill him, but if this is another kidnapping attempt…
Well. Better safe than sorry.
“Apperently, I’m not. Need something?”
“You almost got caught tonight.” Takeō cocks his head, face passive. “You shouldn’t be breaking into military junkyards. There have to be safer options. There’s a place in Chinatown. Less guns.”
“Well, as soon as civilians throw out this kind of equipment,” Donnie pats the bag on his hip. “I’ll consider it.”
He frowns. “You’re taking risks.”
“Weren’t your men trying to slit my throat last week?”
“That was not my doing.”
“Oh, sure, Shredder doesn’t want to lure Splinter out of hiding and you would never kidnap me or Mikey, right?”
“I didn’t know about Bradford’s scheme until it was to late.” Takeō scans his face and Donnie denies the sincerity any thought. “You have to believe us- why else would we help you escape?”
“To earn our trust? For future blackmail? As some part of some evil Foot plot to hurt Sensei?” Donnie sneers. “I don’t care what your excuse is when you made my brother bleed.”
“I told Bradford to back off, but I can only do so much.” The tone is defensive, but his frown softens guiltily. “I can’t stop the bots from doing their programing. Maybe if my clan did not see you as a threat- if you would rethink your position-”
His grip tightens over the t-phone. “This is not a conversation that I am entertaining. Goodbye, Takeō.”
“Wait-”
He does not.
And then Takeō is across the rooftop and roughly taking hold of his arm before he can take more than two steps. The t-phone clatters, adrenaline surging as he stops dead in his tracks. His attention shoots from the weapon on the warrior’s hip and then to the blue gaze that is drilling holes into his skull.
He swallows, proud that his voice doesn’t shake. “Let go.”
Takeō tightens his hold. He steps forward, their gazes locked, face unreadable. Donnie thinks it might be an intimation tactic, but he’s not scared, per say. His gut squirms in discomfort and he feels weirdly small despite being inches taller. He expects a low warning, or some kind of dark threat to cut the air between them.
Instead, he gets a soft promise laced so heavily in passion that it might as well have been shouted across the rooftops.
“I would never hurt my brothers.”
Donnie is silent for several seconds.
“You’re hurting me right now.”
Takeō tears his hand away as though he just found out that Donnie was radioactive. Donnie rubs the area, mostly for show, in the hopes of dissuading him from trying that again.
“…I-I meant…” Donnie looks up. No hesitation crosses his face, but his words come with uncertainty. “Not like that. Never like that.”
Donnie humphs.
“Is- Is Kōta-”
“Mikey.”
Takeō stares and Donnie glares back.
The warrior relents. “How is he?”
“It was a flesh wound.” Donnie picks up the t-phone, unsure why he’s telling him anything. “He’s already back to being a hassle.”
A beat of quiet. “I suppose that means we’ll be reunited soon.”
“To kick your shells in? Yeah. Probably.” Donnie puts away his device, looking somewhere over Takeō’s shoulder to the bulky shadow who has been inching closer through the extent of their conversation.
“You know, family means more to me than biology. Shocking to hear from a scientist, I know.” He pauses for effect, considering. “A family with differences is still a family. You might be serious about this whole hurting thing when it comes to Mikey and me…” He narrows his eyes and trains the hostility on the piercing gaze. “But if I find out that you even thought about touching my father again, you can forget any chance of brotherhood. I might seem like a weak joke to you, but I promise that I can make your life a living hell.”
Donnie stares him down, grip tight over the strap of the bag filled with weaponry that he’ll use to make Metalhead truly surface worthy so nothing can harm Mikey again, and dares Takeō to challenge him.
“There’s no stronger warrior than one whose greatest virtue is their loyalty.” Takeō decides simply. “And there is nothing more that I’d expect from a brother.”
Donnie is pretty sure that’s a compliment. He’s not sure what that he to do with backing off his father, but he accepts it.
He releases the bag. “Glad we understand each other.”
He turns his back to the ninja, looking over his shoulder. “And don’t have Akihitō follow me home.”
Takeō stiffens, eyes widening. He smirks. “See you later, bro.”
With a burst of speed, he takes off.
To their credit, they don’t follow.
Donnie knows better to assume that this’ll be the last time he has eyes on his shell. But, for the first time, he thinks he won’t mind.
