Covid isn't over! We're now going into an endemic! It will continue to evolve and make new variants, each more deadly than the last. I know people will say, "It will only kill the already disabled and elderly." Thanks for condemning my life and thousands of others to death because you wanted to go back to "normal life" and didn't do the bare minimum of getting vaccinated!

it's nap-o-clock all the time, all week here, during Covid Booster side effect season. A bi-annual event, spring and fall, for me. Naps, sleeps, two weeks of dozing if you will.

At least i don't get the one day full body ache of one of my friends. (I kind of envy them that their effects last only one day, tho)

But also, some people I know will casually mention "oh yeah I got my booster yesterday" and they're painting theater scenery or something as they mention this. Madam, I would be napping on the floor right now, in the same situation. I would be curled up in with a blanket in the corner. I have to block off 1-2 weeks of not committing to any important thing and time my booster.

i'm gonna be honest its probably cheating but i have a bunch of your (and others' too) fics downloaded on my ereader so i can go and read it when i need confort. i ESPECIALLY love the painter carlos au and the birds eye view installment. its just so so dear to me!!!! i believe football au is gonna end up next to these fics once its finished.

Also though, no shame. The thought of others downloading because what I've written is comforting means a lot. I have a good number of fics saved offline as well. I started doing it a couple years ago when people were panicking and hiding stuff because others outside fandom spaces were being weird. I probably need to do a run through of more recent ones again so I don't end up accidentally having fave fics of others disappear into the ether

As much as i hate having to self isolate over christmas i know i'm doing the right thing. Like i want to see my family more than anything (we had our xmas gift exchange evening planned for today) but i dont want to run the risk of infecting them. And the idea that so many people rn have covid, know they have covid, and are continuing life as usual is so insane to me. Like did we forget everything from the past few years??

Hey y'all! Does anyone have a link to somewhere I can compare the ingredients of the new Moderna and Pfizer boosters? All the articles I'm finding are along the lines of "no, it won't change your DNA", and are unhelpful for "does this contain acetic acid*"/allergy purposes I know the Moderna bivalent booster did contain acetic acid, and I had a severe-but-not-requiring-hospitalization allergic reaction to it, and I'm trying to figure out if I should go with Moderna again this time (pros: did not end up in the hospital. cons: did have a pretty severe allergic reaction) or try Pfizer (pros: have not reacted to it yet! cons: have not tried it yet, could be mega-allergic) Edit: Thanks everybody! It looks like the Pfizer booster does not contain acetic acid, so I will probably go with that one. I still might be allergic to something else in it, but at least I won't be deliberately injected with something I know I am allergic to?

*I know it's weird, but I am allergic to acetic acid. It might be a mast cell degranulation trigger rather than a true IgE-mediated allergic reaction, but calling it an allergy is shorter and requires less explanation (every time I mention my vinegar allergy I get someone in the notes saying it can't be a true allergy, so I guess I should say calling it an allergy is shorter everywhere but tumblr lol)

So short answer first: no, neither Oliver nor Ryan has been single for many years, as far as anyone knows.

Last spring (and some whispers already on the fall 2021 side) fans started speculating that Oliver and his partner had broken up since she never showed up in his ig-posts anymore, he posted a lot of stories that'd fit in the genre I'd call "late night sad girl posting" and he seemed to attend Aisha's wedding alone. But he made a reference to his long-term partner on the recent morning tv appearance he made, so it's quite possible they just decided to take their relationship very private and off social media (more power to them, if so).

Now, when it comes to Ryan it ventures much more into fan speculation (and conspiracy theorizing?) so I just want to reiterate that that's what it is and none of us know the people involved or what their intentions behind any picture were. Ryan has always had an... interesting prescence on instagram and writes some truly wild and weird captions on both his posts and his stories, bless him. Some months ago most of the things he posted started having this really melancholy and resigned tone to them that made a lot of people go 👀, and around the same time his wife started writing posts about finding your true self and growing into who you're meant to be and restarting your life and so on (and following a podcast about breakups which. Fksjhdg). Perhaps the most "damning" was a story Ryan posted with the caption "attention is not love" that he then deleted within 30mins. Both of them have also deleted pics of each other off their instagrams. They did have similar vibes drama some years ago (before I was in the fandom and/or cared about the actors) and then it seemed to resolve when uh. Well, around the time she got pregnant again. 🫥 So while all of this can mean absolutely nothing, you can also see why people would kind of side-eye it.

The driveway thing stems from one of these ~dramatically captioned pics~ Ryan posted. It was of stonework that some people thought looked suspiciously like Oliver's driveway, that we recently got to see in the Men's Health interview he did.

Current mood seeing COVID vaccines mentioned on the news

im reading an article about how vitriolic people visiting the national parks have gotten, and it is SO cathartic to see my exact experiences in grocery retail be restated by the customer service reps working in the parks.

like its awful, obvious. the average customer has gotten so nasty, and the employees Do Not deserve the treatment they’re receiving. but during 2020/2021, people seemed to think that those viral Nasty Customer videos were 1) not common and 2) relegated just to grocery/retail. and i cant speak for every single hospitality and customer service sector and store, but i can say that at my store that sort of vitriolic outbreak became VERY common. not constant, but common enough to bump the baseline up.

my manager and i had a conversation where she said a lot of her friends-- some of whom had been in the hospitality or customer service industry for over a decade-- were considering a career change because it was SO BAD and no one could even fathom how to move forward. none of us could imagine it ever getting better. our New Normal was people screaming at and berating us every day, blaming us for mask mandates and vaccines and supply shortages. threatening legal action and physical violence. of people intentionally trying to get us sick and terrorizing us. everything was an argument with no hope of de-escalation; it genuinely wouldve been less inciting to tell some of those customers “go fuck yourself” than it was to tell them “im so sorry, but.” and all that while we were surrounded by the extremely smothering reality that no one cared if we died and everyone considered us sub-human.

everyone i know who gave a fuck quit shortly after i did, because none of us could handle it anymore. this includes people who’d worked at that store since it opened, some of our most decorated and knowledgeable coworkers.

like. i dunno yall. its kind of like how you cant describe how things just Make Sense as you near the latter half of your 20s; i cant put into words just how horrifically awful customer service was at that time. if you didnt personally experience it, everything we say sounds like an exaggeration and hyperbole.

and i cannot stress this enough: its still that bad. i would imagine most customer service and hospitality places had the same thing happen: a mass exodus of everyone who knew what they were doing because they could not stand the abuse anymore, and a rotating door of new hires that Refuse (rightfully so!!!) to tolerate the abuse. there is a new breed of customer that genuinely Does Not Care about employees and see pleas of humanity and kindness as a challenge to see how quickly they can break the employee at the desk.

this is especially relevant now, with it being the holidays. employees are more short staffed and overworked than ever, and customers some how have even less patience. customers dont plan literally five minutes out, and then blame employees for not materializing their needs before them on a silver platter.

anyways. i dont know how this article ends, but i have a pretty good guess.
