The First Motorhome!
Remember when things were so much simpler? The Ford House-Car Q-dog
This is one of only six Ford House-cars said to have been made per year in the mid-30's at the Ford plant in St. Paul, Minnesota, according to an article in a 1993 "Old Cars" magazine.
Very few others - perhaps none - remain on the road and certainly not in such amazing original condition!
When discovered in a garage under a heavy cover in northern Minnesota in August of 2001, it had only 19,000 miles on the odometer and the owner's manual was still in the glove box in like-new condition!
The RV had always been garaged and treated with much 'TLC' as a collector vehicle.
The all wood lined interior was still the way it appeared in the '30's complete with framed photos of the original owner on his travels, mainly to Florida, and his cabin in the North Woods. It also had other memorabilia from that era.
The Ford House-car was built on a '37 Ford Pickup frame and cowling and was powered by a 60 horse power, flathead V-8 with aluminum heads. The rear framing is all wood, with the metal skin wrapped around it. The roof structure is all wood over which the heavy, waterproofed canvas top is still very securely fitted. The structure of the body is solid, appearing to be all oak hardwood and it's still in a remarkably unaltered, undamaged condition! The door frames are thick, solid oak as are the window frames although those have been painted over.
This House-car was a big hit at this campground once we got that great old 'flattie' V-8 hummin'! Note the expanding roof (it's that 'extra' roof piece barely visible in the picture) and the original dark green color, which has been repainted. All four side windows open while the back one tilts out in three positions. The windshield also tilts open at the bottom for 'natural' AC while driving. Here are a few shots of the Ford House-car on the road...
Here's a look at the interior.
It's a slice right out of 1930's just as the original owner had it. All the windows have curtains for privacy and there are pull-down shades on the back window, as well as on the driver's and passenger door windows. Note the wide storage cabinet under the bed.
The wood headliner gives the 'cabin' a warm and inviting rustic feel. You can also see it has a ceiling vent and the canvas expanding roof portion visible in this picture. Four wood pieces securely support the expansion when it's in the 'up' position, while clamps secure it when it's down while traveling.
Note the cedar branches hanging in the corners to give the cabin a natural, north woods aroma. Cabinets and the aluminum sink, that includes a wooden cover insert, are visible on the left. All the antiques inside, as well as on the walls, came along for the ride. Also note the collapsible table behind the driver's seat.
It's amazing how simple vehicles were back then! No computerization to be concerned about!

Another little update for you all
The house is "safe" in that once they return power and we have water it will be livable again for my sister and her kids. There's some smoke smell left but it's like....campfire? Oddly comforting. 7/10 only because circumstances.
I'm going to the DMV today to replace my license. I only JUST received a piece of mail that I could use as proof of address yesterday in the form of an Amazon package I ordered more than a week ago. A pack of fletches and side reins. Funny how fast things can change.
My husband's car was fully insured and we'll be getting a settlement from that, as well as my parents' truck that I was using and had JUST put on full coverage a week before this happened. We will, of course, be giving them the full amount.
My parents also have homeowners insurance so the barn and main storage building (and 20 years of "go put this out in the 1000 sqft") should maybe be covered. The buildings for sure though.
I believe that the bow that I got from my mentor (the only one that's broken me about losing) has a lifetime warranty from the bowyer that he may follow through on, even if I'm not the original owner
We know that two cats were inside the RV but the old barn cat has been seen and we go up to feed her every day. Still no news on our boys.
We definitely are not without. The local community and this amazing fandom have done so much for us that it's been overwhelming. I've had to swallow my pride and accept help from strangers the world over. There aren't enough thank yous to go around. If you've donated, please feel free to send me a chat or ask about a personalized sketch. It's not much but right now it is literally all I have to offer other than ALL my gratitude 💚💚💚

Hey guys, no fun art to share but posts with images get more traction so uhh. Have my final eviction notice! I moved back home and in with my family to avoid homelessness due to rising cost of rent and inability to cover expenses solo, and then it turns out we're ALL going to be homeless as of March 4th because landlords are vile evil creatures. I really hate outright asking for money but we are all on disability and only one of us has part-time employment right now, any money we get is going towards things like storage units so we don't lose our belongings & fixing up a used RV we bought for emergency living space, so if you can spare any it's greatly appreciated. Due to the stress of the situation and workload of moving an entire house with 10+ years of belongings into storage, and wanting to avoid irresponsibility of neglecting comms I already owe but have fallen behind on due to health issues, I unfortunately won't be able to be taking commissions at this time, but I'll update if that changes.
Any donations to help us during this difficult period while we're trying to find housing security can be sent via ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/honeyviolets
If you're not in a position to do that, signal boosting and spreading the post is just as good!!! Thank you so much!!!

I am vibrating at frequencies previously unknown as I type this but. Sniper x pyro x scout polyship... i don't have any wants or needs ever I just need those three in literally any scenario. (I mean ANY scenario)
a man of culture i see
Warnings: death, arson, implied sex
Rating: Explicit
Sniper fires his rifle, watching his target fall into a brainless heap seconds later. He reloads, eye trained on his scope as he looks through the windows of the mansion. Scout runs out the door with Pyro at his side before they barricade it with a metal rod. Looks like a fire iron the two must have snagged from a fire place.
Pyro takes out their flare gun, shooting several through the busted out windows while Scout covers their back. Sniper helps him take out body guards, killing each one alongside the American. Once Pyro has sent enough flares into the mansion, they run around back.
“Gonna get the garden too, huh? Hehe, that’s my arsonist.” The same garden with a hidden cellar behind a cabbage patch. Sniper can see the front portion of the house brewing an orange glow from the inside. A moment later, Pyro returns with a trail of flames leading towards the backside. No survivors as instructed.
With the last man down, Scout takes off his hat and waves it in the air. Sniper sets aside his gun, returning the gesture as he stands from his tree branch. He then climbs down, landing on the earth without a single scratch. He pulls the leaf cover off of the camper, lazily folding it and stuffing it in the storage box.
“Did you see how I took out those losers? I was all ‘pow pow! Bonk! Boink!’ And they started crying!” Scout bolts into the camper, shaking it with his burst of energy. Pyro enters a moment later to clap their hands and offer a muffled cheer.
“Hehe, you did good, Roo. You both did. Let’s get the van packed so we can get paid.” Pyro makes a quick call to Miss Pauling, confirming their completed contract before picking up loose laundry. They make the bed, pulling out a random pair of socks from the sheets.
Sniper puts away their food, making a checklist of what needs restocking while Scout cleans. He wipes down the counters, not stopping until that one stubborn stain was gone. Nothing a bit of elbow grease can’t solve.
Once the camper is ready, Sniper drives them back onto the main road. He looks in the rear view mirror as the mansion collapses from the massive flames. Nice and efficient, just how he likes it. No chance anyone survived a fire like that.
“Mmph! Mm hudda mmph.” Pyro places their plushy against the pillows, tucking it in. They nuzzle the stuffed animal’s head before climbing down the ladder. Pyro takes a seat next to Scout at the dining table where an arm is slung over their shoulder.
“You said it, hot stuff. All that’s left to do is get paid.” The American turns to face Pyro, pecking the cheek of their mask. Pyro reveals their lips and brings Scout in for a proper kiss. Scout places a hand on Pyro’s hip and tilts his head.
They drive past sunset until the trio find a rest stop. Sniper parks towards the back, hidden between two RVs. As he enters the back of the camper, he sees Scout and Pyro still kissing. They separate, lips leaving final, lingering pecks before Pyro’s mask is slipped back on.
“Mmn hudda hudda?” Pyro steps out to allow Sniper into the booth. They go into a mini fridge and pull out a small box of leftovers. Scout slides next to the Aussie and lays a hand on his chest.
“Food court’s open all night. We can eat later.” Sniper says with a very eager American in his lap. His long make out with Pyro set his skin ablaze. Scout pulls off his shirt as the microwave’s door is pried open.
It’s an hour later when Sniper shakily pulls his face off of Pyro’s suit. He gives a low groan at the gloved hand rubbing his back. Scout pulls the strap out, proudly wagging the plastic dick with his hips. The bushman nudges his obnoxious lover away and stands upright to crack his back.
“Thanks for the support, love. Means the world.” Pyro, who has no interest in sex, tends to be the unofficial cheerleader. They often hold a hand or two, help the more complex positions, and act as a physical reassurance. One much needed when Scout impulse buys a dick contraption for Sniper.
The exhausted lovers are sat back in the kitchen booth, legs spread to air dry their intimates. They both receive glasses of water before Pyro picks up their unicorn themed wallet. Time to pick up dinner.
Hope you enjoyed this! -H

February 2023 Tour
So some of the maintenance we did on our 11 year old RV: replace part of a rotted slide-out floor, paint the yellowed ceiling fixtures, get front seat covers, a new driver’s side window, install a microwave over-the-stove, replace the 2 house batteries, "new" mattress and just scrub and touch-up everything. We took it to Henkel's RV Sales August 9, knowing it was off-season for RV sales. . . it is still there! We were hoping it would sell around the time of the big RV show in Tampa, but that's been a few weeks ago. . . It’s still in good shape; as Shorty said, “Nobody’s got any money now.”
Closing on our house was July 22, 2022. We found a G.E. dishwasher at an outlet store in Clearwater, a G.E. stove at an estate sale, and fridge, washer and dryer at Lowe's. By the time we got the mattresses, shower curtains, and things you need to live, our first night in the house was July 29. We still had to commute to Holiday to finish working on the RV at our tired senior pace. We decided we're going to die here, because we're too old to move again. . . we were so worn out. But dang, we're loving it here!
We continued commuting (about 35 miles each way) to see Shorty most weeks; a few times he came up to see us at the house.
The first two things I cooked in the new house were sheet pan chicken/taters/ corn on the cob and chicken parm on the sheet pan. After 10 years with an RV oven, I had a heuge two-shelfer and two giant sheet pans I had been dying to use. I had been collecting recipes from Julia Pacheco, my fav You-Tube home cook, for about a year. To Corny's (and Bob's) delight, I have been cooking up a storm! I also started a little canning. I have wanted sodium-free beans for a long time - and the pressure canner takes them from dried, right outta the bag to squishy soft in 40 minutes.
^stuffed Manicotti
Corny watched and I re-watched Breaking Bad on one of the many TVs we've found in storage auctions. This one came with a guest subscription to Netflix. We watched "Better Call Saul". He was Corny's favorite character. I've always loved Bryan Cranston. Then we watched all the Jurassic Park movies.
Here's a little tour. The walls are a very light grey; flooring is grey vinyl:
^This is where I have my oatmeal with Piggie and Poco
Master bed and bath:
Life of Christ cross - all the little boxes were delivered to Shorty's house over the past year and accumulated in storage. It was like Christmas, opening them all up and displaying them!
Bedroom 1, Den and bath 2:
Poco got a cute little 2' fence surrounding the patio. Corny doesn't worry so much about him wandering away now.
Backyard visitors: flock of 6 wild turkeys, pond turtle
Fledgling woodpecker chatted with me and clung to my leg for several minutes when I went to pick up my bedside dresser.
Without gutters yet, when hurricane Ian headed our way in September, we made two trips to a county park to fill sandbags. Some young, energetic people took pity on us old, slow-moving, moaning people and helped us haul the heavy bags to the Jeep. Corny made a few bucks selling flashlights and lanterns he had gotten on clearance months ago, thanks to Ian.
In November I did a big 2-week Georgia county run. I only got the Jeep stuck once, in mud covered by leaves. A Lumpkin County Sheriff had me out within minutes. I have about 1/3 of GA counties to visit:
On Thanksgiving Shorty brought Bob up to the house. They arrived at 5pm; the turkey finished at 7:30pm. I made real gravy for the first time in decades.
Corny had some kidney procedures in November, then found himself in the hospital for an infection in December.
Shorty told us on Dec. 1 he was moving "up north". He heard rumors that Hyundai was hiring contractors to do his job so he promptly took his 3 weeks vacation. When he went back to see if he was on the schedule, they were like "Who are you?". He had worked there 10 1/2 years. We were so glad they did what we couldn't - kick him in the pants so he would get a better job. The little shit decided to move to Elkhart, Indiana to be able to afford a house of his own. We miss him - my life has certainly changed. I would plan all week what to bring him or ask him or tell him. But we are very happy for him to be out on his own and experiencing real freedom for the first time. He left for Elkhart Dec. 3 so now we just text.
We didn't have much notice, so Christmas was basically cancelled. We went to Buffet City on Christmas Eve. I made 4# of candied pecans to send up north and give to the neighbors and Liam - Shiloh Builders' Number Two. They are building a house right next door which Chick, the owner of Shiloh, is going to live in part time. They are using the garage as their office.
I threw a tapestry over the TV for Christmas.
Corny scored a home run and got me a Kitchen Aid accessory that peels, cores and slices an apple all at the same time! I made my first apple pie since I was 20-something years old. I was always too impatient to peel apples.
We continue going to storage auctions. The latest score was an entire tub of Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon cards. I went through them all to check for the big buck$ cards. There weren't any. When I get back from BamaRama (GC9TB1Z) I will list them on Facebook Marketplace for prolly $20/box.
Life is Godd!
We fit out.

Steel Barns: What to Search for
Metal barns are reasonably current points that are typically considered progressively much better frameworks than the conventional ones constructed out of timber. Barns constructed from steel (steel) have a tendency to have several advantages over their wood cousins that are mainly engineering relevant, though some people find them much less eye-catching. In this write-up we discover such benefits as well as explain points to take note of if the visitor remains in the marketplace for a building of this classification, not only pertaining to the procedures included however also to the building contractors themselves.
The largest advantage steel barns have is that the material results in remarkable architectural design, enabling typically higher flexibility of layout. Steel has reasonably high tensile strength, helping with the building and construction of large open spaces if wanted in addition to high ceilings. From the mounting to the paneling to the roof covering, there is remarkable strength in all elements along with high precision in fitting those aspects with each other.
Another advantage is the longevity of the product as well as subsequently the buildings made from it. In many cases, the joints have to be seamed, but you'll locate that steel structures, if developed properly, withstand the scourges of weather condition such as high winds and snow. Of course, damage from wood-eating pests or from water is just not a concern with steel.
People have a tendency to connect barns with farming, as well as they usually have preconceived notions regarding their plus sizes and their purposes. However a great deal of adjustments have actually pertained to the industry. Barns come little, big, and also industrialized, and they are no longer conveniently pigeon-holed right into certain usages.
For instance, the modern version of these frameworks can still be made use of for storing livestock, however great deals of innovators have actually uncovered lots of other uses. Possibly an evident purpose is for RV storage. Yet nowadays metal barns are additionally constructed as houses, as workshops, or as workplace.
One thing we need to point out is that there is a distinction between the frameworks we have actually been talking about and also what are called pole barns. The only real distinction is that post barns do not have foundations yet are rather improved top of a grid of poles anchored to the ground. They often tend to be quick to build and also can be affordable, yet prospective clients need to comprehend what to anticipate in terms of compromises.
There are numerous fine service providers that construct metal barns and various other steel structures. Depending upon their target clients, their focus might get on the domestic market, on making fairly little, prefab, multi-purpose buildings, or on tackling bigger, also commercial tasks. Experience, the nature of in-house devices, and access to knowledgeable design are all consider determining what kind of professional would be right for your task.
Industrialized barns are barely distinguishable from modest-sized industrial buildings the framework for which is steel. Resistances are such that is can be cost-effective to pre-engineer all the beam of light components and also to develop the framing in the shop, followed by transferring the set up items to the building and construction site. In many cases, the steel house siding for a barn can be pre-fabricated in the shop.
If you want a structure with great deals of open space (for whatever reason), steel ought to be the selection of material since the layout is that a lot more attainable. Conceptually, this isn't that different from an aircraft hangar, as well as a great candidate for developing it is an industrial specialist with experience in the aviation market. Likewise, it is important to keep one's mind open in order not to be sidetracked by preconceived notions.
It is interesting to see just how the construction industry evolves as brand-new innovations pertain to market and also demand changes in new instructions. Do your homework to make sure you aren't caught off-guard. We have tried to show the reader what to seek in metal barns.

Hey guys, update on my housing situation!
My family and I are still homeless and in our RV, we are on the waiting list for affordable rent-controlled housing that we can afford as a family of four on disability, but the demand vastly outweighs the supply and they use a raffle system weighted by how long you’ve been on the list and a few other factors, and my parents are expecting it could take us up to a year to get in. In the meantime, our RV currently doesn’t have running water or electricity, and now that we finally finished getting our belongings into storage we got the generator looked at and it turns out it is COOKED and needs full replacing, as well as much wiring needing to be redone because of water damage from leaks. We are barely floating by with disability money covering current bills, storage unit, gas and food, so I spoke with my dad about the expected expenses and to add up the costs of the products he was looking at and estimates it could cost us about $2400, but that’s WAY more than we can afford on our own so I’m asking again, if you can share this post or even toss some money big or small at us keeping a roof over our heads and getting our fridge running so we’re not constantly fretting about food going bad overnight if the RV gets too warm haha.
