best era of fashion in your opinion (can mean anything. designers, style movements, specific decades, etc)
oooh good question but also very hard! i think there's something to love about every decade (also something to hate lol) so i could never name a definitive best but the other day i was thinking about a really specific period and vibe in the late 90s around 97/98 where a lot of things were really haunting and eerie in shades of dark green and black and people were like on the floor a lot or just generally grim looking and incapable of standing up. it was like a cunty 90s take on victorian women slowly being poisoned by the arsenic in their wallpaper except more like supermodels on location succumbing to something evil growing in the hvac system of their haunted hotel. toxic mould if it slayed. it made luxury look evil and sad and i really like shoes and dresses being advertised in what feel like cautionary tales. like this ghost doesn't know she's dead but once a week she remembers when she finds her own body floating in the hotel pool but this is where she got her shoes btw

Day 3
You know that Blue of mountains? They’re far away on the horizon, sturdy triangles holding up the sky on their jagged points. The bright sunny cloudless sky, the mountains in sharp relief. Maybe they have a fluffy white hat of snow or a fuzzy texture created by the trees. Mostly the Blue is from the rugged rocks rising up, up, up into the so bright it hurts sky.

Book Review: One Color a Day
Book Review: One Color a Day
Review by Tina Koyama Looking around at Wet Paint’s online shop recently, I came across a unique book: One Color a Day: A Daily Art Practice and Visual Diary by Courtney Cerruti ($16.99). Unlike a traditional sketchbook, its focus is not on drawing but on color. “Within the book’s orderly gridded layout . . . you simply paint each square a single color and add a word or phrase that reflects your…

Day One
I wanted to start out with Blue. I'm not unique in my love for Blue, everyone likes it to some degree. Blue is sea and sky and sadness and honestly it’s a colour that looks good on everyone. I debated if I wanted to keep track of the colours I mixed to get this particular tone but that’s just not my jam.

Make Art Where You Are (Guided Sketchbook): A Travel Sketchbook And Guide by Courtney Cerruti (book review)
Abrams do a wide selection of artbooks in their imprints and as I tend to encourage you folk to develop an interest in art so do ask for the odd book that might encourage you that way. Courtney Cerruti’s book, ‘Make Art Where You Are (Guided Sketchbook): A Travel Sketchbook And Guide’ gives guidance to what to carry if you choose to paint outside and on the hoof. You will need a small selection…

Courtney Cerruti zine artist
Looking at her body of works you can see she has a very effeminate approach on zine making. What I particularly like about her aesthetic is her use of pastel colours, muted blues most likely an afterthought when she mass-produced her work but effective nonetheless. It seems she works across different mediums, with pen/pencil in some cases and in water colour on others, allowing her to go into further detail. One of her watercolour zines, titled ‘undercover’, goes about zine making in a different format, almost like an unfolded pamphlet with a stretched out scene on either side. The colour palette is bold and contrasting while the style is more expressive with its childlike proportions. My favourite of her works, from what little I’ve seen, is a zine called ‘You thought you were special’, stated on her website as a zine about dating. It’s completely lacking in colour which doesn’t take away from the professionalism of it all, paired with drawings that are clearly fast paced, seemingly donning a single line technique for the most part.
