Thinking of cosplaying Pit Fighter Vi from Arcane? Remember to be careful if you're using actual medical bandages for her shirt. You can severely hurt yourself if you tighten them too much, just like when people try binding their breasts down with bandages.
You can crack and/or deform your rib cage, give yourself nerve damage, cause yourself breathing difficulties etc..
Generally it's not a good idea and there are better alternatives. if you want to know more about the dangers, you can google it.

Hard-Cap Wigs safety concerns
Cosplay thing I want to say because it’s been perplexing me for safety reasons: so among the hardcore wig stylists these “hard cap” wigs have become kinda trendy as a way to secure high ponytail wigs etc What’s perplexing is that of the handful of wig artists who use them only one has posted a tutorial on how to make them
And basically they cut quilt batting to the shape of a wig head and then heat it up with a heat gun to melt it and make it hard.
This is scary for a few reasons 1. The obvious fumes created when heating plastic and they are not wearing safety gear in the tutorial 2. They do not state what kind of quilt batting they use. I know they are using the polyester kind- but there are like 3 kinds. The quilt I’m currently working on has cotton batting and would burst into flames if you tried this. Visually they look very similar and so does the packaging so that is yikes!!!
I’m personally of the mind that 99% of wigs do not benefit from this method and that it’s likely a cosplay trend that will disappear in a few years after ppl realize the flaws of it (if its shaped to a wig head- how will it fit an actual person? If it’s stiff it’ll hurt more after a long amount of time etc etc) Not sure where to post about this but I was very bothered

Another reminder to be safe with your glues! E6000 is highly toxic so always follow the safety info!
This is why you need to be careful with E6000 fumes!!!!!
Tumblr media
I used E6000 (outside, and with a mask!) to glue down a skin top piece on a wig I’m working on, instead of my normal UHU glue, because I really wanted the flexibility you get from using E6000 for my own physical comfort. I didn’t put anything in between the wig and the foam head because I knew I wouldn’t actually be getting glue on the foam.
Anyway, I left it outside to cure for 24 hours and upon further checking, the fumes were trapped a bit due to there being no air circulation where the skin top piece was, and this caused the foam to melt as pictured.
I routinely see people using E6000 inside without a mask and just complaining that “it smells”. This is a good example of how toxic it can actually get.
E6000 will in fact glue nearly anything to nearly anything and dry flexibly, but it is an absolute toxic nightmare chemical. E6000 is known to cause anything from short term vomiting due to acute toxicity to literally cancer if you’re overly exposed. Please! Read the safety sheets! Minimize your exposure! Don’t work with it without a respirator! If you can use anything else that’s less toxic, use something else that’s less toxic! E6000 should be reserved only for when you actually need its properties and even then should be treated like the terrifying chemical death generator it is. Those fumes are the smell of brain cell death and poison. The headache you get from it is from the cell damage it is causing. Don’t listen to crafters online who rhinestone with entire tubes of this in their living rooms! This is A SCARY FREAKING SUBSTANCE!
I’m worried in particular about how much the cosplay community jumps to e6000 over literally anything else without realizing that while it’s sold next to delightfully non toxic substances like tacky glue and UHU all purpose, this glue is extremely toxic and will in fact hurt you. Please make sure you think before you use this and warn your friends how scary it is!

I don't recall sharing much after completing the boi, but here he is! Looks like He caught an adult in the daycare while safety mode was still active!

Hey, everyone! I realized that I never shared the Ghost King Danny Phantom cosplay I made, so I thought I'd upload some photos. I'm not really comfortable putting my face on here, so that's obscured, which is a shame because you can't see my awesome makeup, but ah well.
If anyone wants to hear me ramble about the different parts of the cosplay please let me know; I'm so proud. I made everything myself!

Take care of your fellow cosplayers!
Drink lots of water and take breaks. Remove the mask and get some fresh air. Avoid heat exhaustion! It's a real problem.

So the cloak doesn't look very much like a cloak right now, but it's a start! I have the other pieces of a Siffrin cosplay (hat and eye patch) ready to go, but I'm either going to have to find giant safety pins or crochet appliques for the finishing touches. I'll post update pics as I go! I'm excited to see it all come together!!!

My Grian cosplay so far
Tumblr media
I’m working on the wings rn but I think the outfit itself is coming along pretty good ! I’m debating whether to switch to pants or wear tights under the shorts or just the shorts… Also should I wear the shirt underneath or just wear the turtleneck ?
My hair is pretty long and unfortunately not blond so the best I can do is tuck them under my shirt sadly, but I do have glasses so that’s another part out of the way lol
