##polin socmed au Paris🇫🇷
The heat emanating from the oven was sticky and prickling his skin despite the cold October air flowing through the open kitchen window. There was silence in the rental apartment. And that felt truly scary to Colin. Usually, he could pretend. When Penelope was loudly talking to his sister rushed laughter filling the rental apartment because she had to get off “Your brother is making dinner, El. Well right now I do prefer your brother. He is making me coq au vin” he could hear her smile and imagine Eloise’s quick witted response “I’m not going to eat your brothers cock. Shut up El! I’m hanging up. Byeee!!” Colin chuckles at his attempts of trying to fill in the gaps in their conversation but he can’t pretend with Eloise's faint presence as a reminder. Eloise was the closest person to Penelope, not him.
But it was easy to forget on days like this. The silence is comforting as he finishes chopping vegetables. He glances at the living room, the wide open door perfectly framing her, draped on the couch, book in hand, completely absorbed by the words as she absentmindedly sips her glass of wine. She is stunning biting her lip as if intrected by the book describing a character doing so. Looking up from her book she smiles at him.
Penelope gets up. Despite the October chill her legs are bare, the oversized t-shirt only covering the top of her legs. Colin let out a sharp breath, eyes fixated on creamy skin moving towards him, on the softness of her pale thighs. Each step she took made the black tshirt ride up her full hips, a peak of white lace against the stretch of delicate skin. She was everything to him. And the familiarity was killing him. He ran hot, often a sheen of sweat covering his body but the heat he felt right now as the new blonde entered the kitchen felt crowding. She felt crowding, How Colin hadn't noticed before the way she had managed to fill every crevice and infíltrate every aspect of his life was beyond him. She stood in the doorway hands full with a bottle of wine and a half full glass. He wished he could look past the familiarity he felt. She looked perfect. There was sensuality in her state of dress, but mostly it was comfort. A sense of familiarity, even domesticity. They couldn't help but belong next to each other relaxed. He had seen her small frame tense, around strangers, her family, and even Eloise. There had been thick tension around them, Colin often said the wrong thing and Penelope had learned to bite her tongue at home, never letting words of hurt spill out of her, but he had never seen her tense around him. She was everywhere and that made him calm. She calmed him. Colin was uneasy. He was filled with an unsettleing wanderlust flying around the globe with nervousness, trying to escape the idleness that filled him when he stayed too long anywhere. But right now as Penelope eyed him he didn't feel it. There was no itchiness in his skin urging him to escape. His feet were planted on the white tiles of the kitchen floor and he couldn't do anything else but wish she moved closer.
“What are you chopping up?” She was close to him, pressing her chest on his back trying to peer over his shoulder.
“Leave. I'm trying to cook for you”
“You are not even going to tell me what you are cooking as you put it “specifically for me”?” Colin felt like he was being baited. Her big genuine smile accentuated her rosy cheeks and the light teasing tone of her voice. The thing is he meant what he said. If Penelope knew words, he knew food. To him, food was a love language. He understood his love for travel through food. He became enamoured with the world as he obsessively watched Anthony Bourdain: A Cook’s Tour. The way he interacted with food and the world fascinated him. Food has history, it belongs somewhere. Every dish and every ingredient had a place of origin. Food was everything. It spoke to the way the world became what it is. He treasure that. Something so innocuous, so trivial as food was so much bigger.
When he was 12 his father died. It was sudden. A heart attack. It left him completely lost. People would bring them food so there was no need for them to cook. His mom was overcomed with grief. He remembers bringing her food. He feared his mom at that time. She wasn't scary like something a tween would find scary, no. He feared her because of what would be of her, they couldn't lose her too. Anthony became overbearing. He was freshly 18, his dad died and his mom wasn't there. Anthony became sort of everything to everyone really. But Anthony couldn't cook. In truth even if he had been able to pick up a cookbook Colin didn't think he would have been able to follow a recipe. Every time you cook for someone you show them you love them or at the very least that you care. Maybe you care for appearances, some people who brought them food were neighbors who didn't really know them. Colin likes to think that perhaps they saw their dad playing with them in the backyard and they cared that a good man died and left a widow and 8 kids behind. Ultimately he doesn't care. When those people cook for them they were able to let grief overcome them. They didn't need to pour love into a meal. They could let it float aroud house confuse as to where to go.
But right now, as Penelope teased him he was pouring all of his love into a meal. He had been. Every day carefully handpicking restaurants or cooking for her, baking, whatever. He didn't care. He was showing her that he loved her. That he had always loved her even if not always romantic. He needed her nourished. Happily moaning around a fresh croissant with homemade raspberry jam that caused very vivid dreams for him. He needed her and he needed to show her that he loved her so he is cooking ratatouille for her because love is pouring out of him.
“Do you want?” At some point, Penelope had set the bottle on the table and was swirling the burgundy liquid in front of him. “You are cooking and not even drinking a cheeky glass of wine. Come on” Penelope stood on her tippy toes raising the glass to his lips tentatively. Colin turned to her. Facing her. Her cheeks were a deeper blush than he had realized and her smile seemed free from inhibitions. She was tipsy and it made him chuckle. Penelope tried raising the glass to his lips again a bit more insistent but not pushy. Penelope was never pushy.
He wrapped his lips around the glass offered to him, eyes focused on hers. He lightly grabbed her wrist tipping the glass further. It felt too intímate. Penelope’s breath getting caught for a second, her chest rising delicately against his abdomen. The liquid slid through his throat. He couldn't break the eye contact. That would’ve been betraying himself. He was looking at her and was completely hypnotized.
She cleared her throat stepping away from him but he didn't loosen the grip on the blonde's wrist.
“Penelope” it sounded more like an exhale. He didn't notice he was out of breath. She was so close and now a few inches apart felt like an ocean between them. There had been oceans between them before. He was always traveling. She was always home. Right now as he desperately craves her closeness, he can not bear that though. The thought of her distance. He needs her warmth pressed against him until they share the same temperature, he needs her skin to melt into him until he feels close enough to her. He needs to kiss her.
“I wrote about you this summer that's why I couldn't write to you” She blurted it out. The words were filled with panicked and so were her eyes scanning his face for a reaction.
“What?” He finally dropped her wrist confusion clouding his thoughts.
“These whole fucking three weeks. You’re so fucking irritating” Her voice was filled with exasperation. “I-“ She didn't finish the thought letting out a deep sigh trying to calm her rapid breath. “I was trying to get over you. I’ve been in love with you for years, pretty much since I met you” She exhaled a laugh filled with self pity. “And this whole fucking trip seemed like you were trying to undo all the little work I had done.” She looked at him. Blues meeting blues. “I know It was a stupid decisition on my part going on the trip. But I missed you too. And ever since we landed in Pris every single fucking time you look at me I fall more and more in love with you, Colin Bridgerton.”
Now he truly couldn't bear the distance. His hands reached for her soft waist pulling her impossibly close to his chest. Raised to her tippy toes Penelope’s mouth was a breath away from his impossibly big grin. He was going to kiss her. His hands burrowed into her hair, soft blonde waves twisting between his fingers. God, he misses the red in her hair. She seems brighter with the blonde a little more self assured. There's something she left behind with the red. He hopes it's not him. Because he desperately needs her. So he kisses her. Framing her jaw with his hands. She smells sweet a combination of the wine and probably the frenzy he is surrounded by in her presence Lush lips tender on his feel like words he is unable to speak, He hopes they communicate how he feels as if consuming her. His stubble rubbing against the pale skin of her face. He desperately needed to know If it would be slightly red and raw.
He pulled her hair slightly separating their faces, not too much though he needed to be close to her, he needed to feel her breath against his skin to make all of this feel real.
“I just need to get something out of my chest” big blue eyes questioning him. Something dreary overtakes them. God he hated her need to doubt him. “I just miss your red hair so goddam much. “ She let out an exhale a small laugh escaping from her chest. Her forehead softly fell on his shoulder. “I can fix that very easily, you know?” She looked up at him, her head still resting on his shoulder. Colin moved up his hands without breaking contact with her skin. He couldn't break the contact, the softness of her skin on his rough palm. He traced the path to her scalp from her waist weaving freckles together with his fingers. He kept going in the direction the shapes traced, the softness of her arms leading him to her scalp. He hooked his finger around an unruly blonde strand that escaped her bun. “I just needed to dye it” Colin looked at her. The open features seemed so telling of who she was yet he knew how much he hid from everyone. It seemed contradictory her eyes seemed so truthful and she was always guarded lying through omission but her eyes, they were true. They saw his truth. Always curious scanning the room seamlessly breaking down what's happening, always getting it right yet not feeling the need to speak it. He adverted her eyes looking at her hands playing with the hem of his shirt. “I dyed it 'cause I wanted to feel far away from everything. Cause I could picture my red hair on your pillow and that was ridiculous at the time. All I was doing was writing and writing about how much I loved you and how you would never love me back.” She tangled her finger in his brown curls. His head tilted looking down at her. “Well don't you feel silly now” She laughed. It felt open and silly and he desperately needed for her to feel as seen by him as he felt seen by her. “So you love me?” His hands traveled down her back settling in her waist. What a fucking ridiculous question. “Penelope Anne Featherington I love you so much this whole trip has been torture being so close to you and not allowed to kiss you when that's all I've been able to think about.”

Some of my assorted headcanons for Anoush ☺️
Likes
-Favorite movies: Some Like it Hot, Doctor Zhivago, and Saturday Night Fever
-Favorite TV shows: How to Get Away with Murder, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Frasier, and Veep
-Favorite musical artists: Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Sam Cooke, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Oscar Peterson Trio, Neutral Milk Hotel, Cocteau Twins, Belle and Sebastian, The Cranberries, The Velvet Underground, Beirut, The National
-Favorite foods: Baguette with brie and butter, coq au vin, pasta carbonara, shakshuka, sushi (esp. anything w/ fresh tuna), pozole, orange blossom and pistachio ice cream
-Favorite season: fall (the one thing he misses about New York)
-Coffee order: triple americano with a tablespoon, no more no less, of half and half. If he doesn't trust the espresso at a place, he'd rather get a chai.
Backstory (this gets long)
-He moved out to LA about 15 years ago from NYC, and he grew up near NYC but not in the city. His main motivation for moving there was to get away from overbearing family. He does have cousins in the LA area but most of his family is still out east.
-His father ran a dry cleaning business and his mother was an administrator at a dental office - both have been retired for a while.
-He has a bachelor degree, double majored in economics and history, and he did do law school for a year before accepting that he hated it, which caused a lot of strife with his parents. He tried to make them happy by working at a law firm for a while as a receptionist/file clerk, but the environment was awful for his stress and he just knew he couldn't do it forever.
-When he moved, he worked a lot of odd jobs - a couple restaurants, a winery, some a-hole executive's personal assistant, etc. Hated all of it. He had a very tough time making friends. He even tried going to a nearby synagogue to make friends, though he's not very religious, only to find he was the youngest person in attendance by a few decades that wasn't married with children.
-I might expand on this in a later story, but Anoush met Daniel when he was looking for a car. His own car broke down and money was tight. As they were talking they found out they were both from out east, and ended up having a super long conversation. Anoush left with a nice used car and a job offer.
-He thought he would hate working in sales, but found out that he likes the actual reward for working hard and having conversations with one customer at a time/forming a connection with them.
-In his spare time, he tries a lot of restaurants. He tries to go to one new restaurant every week - he has a huge jar full of hundreds of restaurant names that he picks out of. He also gets out of town as often as he can and takes 1-2 day trips up the coast or out to the desert. California is so different from where he grew up and he just wants to get out and experience as much as possible.
-He has a hereditary autoimmune condition known as Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF). He experiences periodic attacks of abdominal pain, headaches, and inflammation, always accompanied by a fever. It doesn't happen often and it's become less of an issue as he's gotten older, but the attacks can take him out for up to a few days at a time. He's mostly healthy otherwise, but has to be on medication to prevent damage to his kidneys from the condition.
-His sexuality has always been a serious sore spot for him. He's had lots of girlfriends, but it never lasts long. He's known since high school that he's attracted to men, and his only serious long-term relationship was with a guy in college. The list of men he's been with is very short in comparison to the women, and they've always made him much happier - but those relationships have always been covert. Whenever they get to the stage where they're introducing each other to family and friends, Anoush tends to self-sabotage and the relationship ends.
-He's an only child, and the burden of not having any grandchildren for his parents weighs heavily on him. Part of why he left New York was his idea that it would be easier to date girls who weren't from the place or culture he grew up in, and it hasn't worked out. By the time we meet him in Cobra Kai, he's getting desperate to make the fantasy happen. His parents are getting pretty old. He thinks that the disappointment of no grandkids plus the shock of finding out he's gay would be too much for them.

"I refuse to wait a minute longer. I'll not let the boy's terrible manners spoil my appetite." Vita declared before cutting into her coq au vin.
"Well if Matthew is delayed," Armand did his best to divert away from Vita, "Perhaps we can continue without him in favor of Tillie?"
"Tillie's eye for business is unparalelled. It was her idea to purchase up all those derelict buildings in Evergreen Harbor in favor of an upscale project. If not for the land permit snag, I'm certain she could've spearheaded it on her own." Armand winked at the apple of his eye.
"Don't be silly, Papa. I only know what Grand Mumah and Grandfather have taught me. But the prestiege of the Landgraab name and their long standing history in land purchases will make this venture easier than it ever could have been on our own."
"Yes," Vita reluctantly admitted. "Old money unfortunately gets so much undeserved respect. It's a shame too because Tillie is smart as a whip, so capable. If only Holland had been so maleable."
"It's 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘺, Mother. And yes you're so good at reminding me of my rigidness."
"𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘺 is a hippie name. Holland has prestiege. You should never have shortened it. But never mind all that, my appetite is filled and the boy is beyond late. I say we call it a night and try this meeting of the minds some other time, Malcolm."
"Grand Mumah, wait!"
"Before we leave, I'd like to wish Matthew a happy belated birthday. It'd be rude to go without giving him his congratulations."
"But, Diamond, he's nowhere to be found. Surely it's not necessary."
"It is. You raised me with good manners. It's only right."
"Isn't she a picture of grace." Vita released some of her bluster. "I can't say no to that face. Go on, Tillie, you're excused. Malcolm will keep me entertained until you come back."
"Oh yes, the proposal."
"Yes, yes, regale me." Vita rolled her eyes.

Thank you for the tag @baynton 💖
List 5 favourite shows (in no particular order) and answer questions accordingly. 1. You, Me and the Apocalypse 2. The Wrong Mans 3. BBC Ghosts 4. The Inbetweeners 5. The Office (US) (Ignore the fact that three of these are Mat things, it's all I've really been interested in for the last three years or so.)
1. Who is your favourite character in 2?
Sam, of course <3
2. Who is your least favourite character in 1?
Ohhh, I'm weirdly fond of most of the characters but Spike is annoying as fuck.
3. What's your favourite episode of 4?
"Will's Birthday", Series 2, Episode 3 because I too had a dinner party for my 18th birthday based on this, unfortunately, I did not serve Coq Au Vin.
4. What is your favourite season of 5?
Season 6 has to be my favourite for Jim and Pam's wedding episode and the birth of Cece 🥺
5. What's your favourite relationship in 3?
Actual canon relationship has to be Alison/Mike, but ship wise, I'm a Thomas/Julian fan.
6. Who is your anti relationship in 2?
As long as Sam is getting wrecked, I don't really care? So I guess any ship not involving Sam?
7. How long have you watched 1?
It'll be about 2 or 3 years now.
8. How did you become interested in 3?
I saw a clip of it during one of the COVID lockdowns and it was being advertised as Horrible Histories for grown-ups. I told my sister about it because we sort of watched Horrible Histories as teens and she said we could watch it. I'll never forget saying to her before we started watching it, "Do you remember when everyone was obsessed with Mathew Baynton back when Horrible Histories was on?" and look what fucking happened.
9. Who is your favourite actor in 4?
Joe Thomas <3
10. Which show do you prefer 1, 2 or 5?
Probably number 1, especially if it had more seasons.
11. Which show have you seen more episodes of 1 or 3?
There are more episodes of 3 and I've been watching it for slightly longer so 3.
12. If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
Charlotte Hinchcliffe beecause she's fit and doesn't really end up in any massively embarrassing situations 🤣
13. How would you kill off your favourite character in 5?
Get Dwight to do it (my favourite character is Jim, basic, I know 🙈).
14. Would a 3/4 crossover work?
It would since a few of the supporting cast from The Inbetweeners have been in Ghosts now - the humour would have to change though, preferably Ghosts' humour to be more vulgar so I can hear Thomas saying "pussy", thanks.
15. Pair two characters in 1 that would make an unlikely, but strangely okay couple.
Paula and Mary - power mums balancing each other out and bringing up their boys together in the best way possible 🤣 Also, Ariel/Jamie, very unlikely but strangely okay.
16. Overall, which show has the better cast, 3 or 5?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I meannnnnnnn, fuck. Nah, I'm not betraying Mat like that. 3.

Bringing France to Sydney: Finest French Wines Await
Sydney, the dazzling harbinger of culture and sophistication, is home to some of the world’s best dining experiences, and now, it's about to indulge your senses in a little slice of France. The allure of French wine has made its way to the harbor city, offering a range of exquisite selections that promise to elevate any occasion. From rich reds to crisp whites, the finest French wines are now available for Sydney’s wine lovers to savor and enjoy.
In addition to these delectable wines, Sydney has also witnessed an increasing appreciation for Japanese cafes, adding a unique and multicultural dining experience. Imagine pairing a glass of fine French wine with a dish from a Japanese café in Sydney — a fusion that will delight your taste buds in unexpected ways. But let's first dive into the world of French wine in Sydney and how it has come to capture the hearts of local wine enthusiasts.
Discovering the World of French Wine in Sydney
French wine is known for its elegance, history, and complexity. French vineyards are renowned for producing some of the world’s most prestigious wines, with regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Champagne leading the charge. The craftsmanship involved in creating these wines is a combination of tradition, expertise, and a deep connection to the land.
In Sydney, the demand for quality French wine has skyrocketed as more wine lovers discover the depth and versatility of French varietals. Wine bars, restaurants, and specialty wine shops have expanded their French wine offerings, allowing both connoisseurs and casual drinkers to explore the nuances of wines from different regions. Whether you're in search of a bold Bordeaux red, a crisp white Burgundy, or a sparkling Champagne, French wine Sydney has a selection to meet your preferences.
One of the most enticing features of French wine is its versatility with food. The pairing possibilities are endless, whether you're enjoying a formal dinner or a casual meal. While traditional French dishes like Coq au Vin or Beef Bourguignon may come to mind, French wines are just as spectacular when paired with a more contemporary setting. This brings us to an exciting combination — pairing French wines with the unique flavors of a Japanese cafe in Sydney.
A Fusion of Cultures: French Wine Meets Japanese Cuisine
Sydney is a city of incredible diversity, and this cultural richness extends to its culinary scene. Over the past few years, Japanese cafes in Sydney have become a trendy and cherished option for locals and tourists alike. These establishments offer a serene atmosphere, serving light, healthy, and beautifully crafted dishes inspired by Japanese culinary traditions.
But what if you could take your dining experience a step further? Imagine sitting in a cozy Japanese cafe in Sydney, enjoying a delicious bowl of ramen or sushi, and sipping on a glass of exquisite French wine. While these two cuisines are worlds apart, they share a commitment to fine ingredients and an appreciation for balanced flavors, making the fusion of French wine and Japanese cuisine a harmonious pairing.
In fact, many experts suggest that French wines, particularly whites like Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay, pair beautifully with the delicate and often umami-rich flavors of Japanese dishes. Whether it's a glass of dry French wine to complement the savory broth of a miso soup or a sparkling Champagne to accompany sushi, the possibilities are both endless and delightful. This trend has caught on in Sydney, with more restaurants and cafes offering curated wine lists that include both French wines and Japanese-inspired dishes.

Street food in Eastern Europe is an embodiment of the region's culinary spirit, combining convenience with rich tradition. In cities like Prague and Budapest, street vendors offer a plethora of options, ranging from Czech trdelník, a sweet pastry, to Hungarian lángos, a deep-fried flatbread.
These markets are not just food hubs but also cultural melting pots, where one can experience the vibrancy and communal spirit of Eastern European cities. Seasonal markets, especially during Christmas and Easter, offer a special glimpse into regional traditions and culinary practices.
Dietary Preferences and Modern Twists
As global trends influence dietary preferences, Eastern European cuisine is not immune to change. There's an increasing presence of vegetarian and vegan adaptations of traditional dishes. For instance, meatless versions of the Serbian cevapi or the Romanian sarmale are gaining popularity. Chefs across the region are also experimenting with contemporary techniques and flavors, offering a new perspective on classic dishes. This blend of tradition and innovation is creating a unique culinary landscape that respects its roots while embracing modern tastes.
Food Tours and Culinary Experiences
For those looking to immerse themselves in the culinary richness of Eastern Europe, food tours offer an insightful and delicious way to explore the region. These tours often include visits to local markets, traditional eateries, and even cooking classes with local chefs. For example, a food tour in Krakow might include sampling Polish kielbasa at a local market, followed by a cooking class on making pierogi. Such experiences provide a deeper understanding of the culture and traditions behind Eastern European cuisines, making them more than just a meal, but a journey through history and flavor.
