Coppertail’s Choir of Man Contribution is Very Florida
The Choir of Man is set in a British pub. The beer the pub is serving is distinctly Floridian. In place of U.K. standbys Guinness Stout and Newcastle Brown is a brew reflective of the Sunshine State and the Tampa-based brewery that makes it. The beer, Sun Runner, was created and produced by Tampa’s highly-regarded Coppertail Brewing Company. It’s described as a tropical wheat ale flavored with…

Episode #4: Unsung Heroes with Micah Overton (Lilypad) | The Business of Beer
One of our most watched videos on YouTube is about the life of a craft beer sales rep, and strangely it's something we've never explored at length on the podcast before. Micah Overton of Lilypad, a "CRM crafted for beverage suppliers and distributors to stay organized and sell more liquid", joins Cee to talk about a day in the life of a beer sales rep, the difference between self-distributing and having distributor partners, how a sales rep decides where to go every day, how to approach current or potential clients, his experience with wholesalers, the pros and cons of the 3-tier system, some fun stories from his days as a sales rep, and why and how technology can help beer sales teams do their job. Micah provided some killer Florida brews for the session - BarrieHaus Beer Co. Bublina Czech-style Pilsner, Angry Chair Vodnik Czech-inspired Pilsner, Coppertail Hop Quest Cold IPA, and Hidden Springs Ale Works A Hot Dog Is Most Definitely A Sandwich. This was fascinating - cheers!

Brew Review - Sunrunner by Coppertail Brewing
This is the part where I get amazed on seeing a Coppertail can without the trademark black background and copper colored artwork. Yes, the artwork from their long time partner Evan Harris is there, just as richly detailed and slightly off-kilter is it ever is. But with this beer, it’s slightly different because it trades the dark, brooding background for a bright, sunny, Tampa Bay…

A Day at Tropicana Field
Yesterday, I visited Tropicana Field for my second game of the season for the Tampa Bay Rays hosing the Minnesota Twins. The Rays would drop the series to the “red hot” Twins after losing to them 9-7. After a great start in the first two months of the season, the Rays only sit in second place with a record of 35-22 with a run differential of +78, the best in the division. This is not the only accomplishments of the Rays this season, but there is a bigger battle the team faces as a franchise.
However, I am not here to question the fan ship of Tampa Bay Rays or how their ownership has managed this ball club. I am not here to say, “Shame on the fans for not appreciating this baseball team more.” I’m here to write my appreciation for this team and what they are trying to do to keep their head above water. When you are a small market baseball club trying to make it in a sport that is losing popularity, you seem like you are re-inventing the wheel every season in order to see positive results. The players are fully developed are displaying their talents on the baseball diamond. The Rays have one of the best farm systems in the entire MLB. It is time to appreciate this team for what they are contributing to the Tampa Bay area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In these photos, you can see where they have their appreciation for craft beer in the Tampa Bay area. Tampa is the largest beer hub in the state and is a destination where all the breweries meet in the middle of the state in order to share their products in celebration (I have written and displayed my adventures of Tampa Bay Beer Week in the past). Here is the famous Coppertail Brewing Company beer stand, where the line was just as long as any concession stand at Tropicana Field. I enjoyed drinking their tripel brew called Unholy, a local delicacy that sure will put you in the “baseball fan” mood in no time.
Tumblr media
In the opposite side of the Coppertail stand in right field, I met up with some really electric Rays fans that were dressed as the classic rock band KISS who were as popular as the Rays’ mascots Raymond or DJ Kitty. They were taking picture with the fans alongside a radio station kiosk. The kiosk was advertising a baseball and beer podcast that revolves around different station in the Bay area. I had the joy discussing about all the breweries in the local neighborhood of St. Peterburg, including the Rays collaboration with Greenbench Brewing Company and their famous 4-Seam Lager that is brewed only for the stadium. We all shared a pint of the refreshing team beer celebrating the game and it bringing us together at that very moment.
Tumblr media
We ventured to one of my favorite locations of the ballpark that caters to one of my guilty pleasures outside of sports: video games. There is barcade on the second level terrace called Ballparks and Rec that is located on the first baseline that has an assortment of arcade machines and an overlooking patio that has outdoor games for everyone to play. Their most popular attraction is the life sized beer pong that replaces the cups for trashcans and the ping-pong balls for basketballs for a game that would have much more fun at larger stakes. Of course, this bar has an assortment of delicious cocktails for anyone to enjoy and includes a child friendly menu so that the kids can have their fun too; and it would not be a Tampa themed bar without a collection of craft beer to enjoy by the going baseball and video game fan.
The game did not have to be entertaining, but the feeling of being welcome at the ballpark was there. Growing up a fan of a different fan basis, it is hard to compare a town that is new to baseball culture and has not grown accustom to the lifestyle. It is hard to influence a dying game to a town that has more implant fans than local fans, but it is up to fans like us that appreciate and love the game to help mold a team in order to become a better baseball community. I am happy to support this local team because that is how much I love the game of baseball. I would not want this team to go anywhere and I will do everything in my power to give them my support and stay here. If you liked what you, saw and live in the Tampa Bay area, venture out to Tropicana Field for a Rays game. I assure you that you will not be disappointed, even if you cannot stand the game of baseball; there is always something you can do at the ball park to enjoy good times with good friends.

Of all the beers in the Halfway There series from Tampa Bay Beer Week, this one should have been pre-packaged with a cigar on its own. It was also the beer I was most dreading.
Full disclosure, I am not a hophead. I appreciate them, and I understand what they are and can discern the finer points of excellent hop usage, but I do not actively seek overly bitter, dank experiences from my beers of…

this photo was too large to fit on my instagram, so I decided to load it here instead. this is a photo of ALL the beer I have collected in my first year of my beer cellar collection. Living in Florida has its perks especially when it is a craft beer capital of the US. The majority of the collection is bulked by Angry Chair and Cycle Brewing Company, both stationed in the Tampa Bay area. The rest of the selections are other stapled of the area and are from Coppertail, Cigar City, Hidden Springs, and Funky Buddha. Can’t wait to collect more beer in 2018 and see how big this cellar can really get!
