rafael perez is looking for his ex-pack members. this connection is RETIRED.

unnamed appears as though they are between thirty-five and forty-five, they are a werewolf, who is connected to rafeal perez as his ex-pack member. he looks an awful lot like oscar isaac and thinks they may look something like garrett hedlund, diego luna, charlie hunnam, john david washington, daveed diggs, riz ahmed, d.j. cotrona, brie larson, tessa thompson, keke palmer, ming na wen, danai gurira, alicia vikander.

This connection would’ve signed up for the Dog Soldier programme around the same time as Rafael, or perhaps they were already there when he arrived. They would’ve become part of the pack that was formed, under their Alpha named Conor with Rafael serving as second in command. After the ambush that left only 4 of them still alive, the pack disbanded. Rafael did not keep in contact with the other 3 due to the guilt associated with surviving the ambush and not trying harder to stop such a thing. The rest of the character is completely up to muns interpretation.

Modest Mouse/Bright Eyes: Random Quarantine Thoughts

Modest Mouse

1. When the Going Gets Weird, Watch a Modest Mouse Video... Modest Mouse has a history of creating music videos that are very quirky and strange. Throughout their catalog, they have created videos that continually make them look small in a much larger world. The animation always looks very homemade and never ever slick. The premises for many of them are very strange as well. The “Ocean Breathes Salty” video has Isaac Brock portraying an injured bird found by a child that he takes him home in a box.

2. Ashley Simpson + SNL=Modest Mouse... One of the first times that I remember hearing about Modest Mouse was when they performed on Saturday Night Live in the early 2000’s. There was a lot of controversy over the fact that Ashley Simpson in her performance the week before got caught lipsyncing. Modest Mouse was chosen specifically to play right after that incident. The producers of Saturday Night Live wanted a band guaranteed not to lipsync.

3. Been Together a Long Time... People do not realize how long this band has been together. They were formed in 1992 taking influences from bands such as the Pixies. They did not release an album until 1996. The fact that they were created at the height of the grunge movement, but sound nothing like grunge is very interesting. I guess you have been around a long time if when you started Kurt Cobain was still alive.

4. They Actually Have Good Music Before Float On.. For many people, their introduction to this band emerged upon hearing songs like “Float On.” Yet, devoted fans would probably say that was not even their best album. In the mid 1990’s, they released music that produced an unbelievable cult following. The album The Moon and Antarctica was noted by Pitchfork as one of the best indie albums of the 90’s. One song to check out is “Gravity Rides Everything.”

5. Live Not That Great... I have seen Modest Mouse play live once, and also watched many concert performances on YouTube. They simply do not translate very well in a live setting. I will just say this without any reservation, but Issac Brock is not that good of a singer. The listener has a hard time feeling the same contrast with a studio recording as he shouts out the chorus.

Bright Eyes

1. DIY Before It Was Cool... Conor Oberst, the brains behind Bright Eyes, was doing his own albums 10 years before Arctic Monkeys made it popular. At the age of 13, he released his first record. Around that time, his brother started the record label, Saddlecreek. He had a wealth of material long before Bright Eyes even began.

2. One of Many Music Projects...Bright Eyes has been one of numerous music projects that Connor Oberst has taken part in over the years. He has had two bands with his solo career including The Valley Mystic Band, a duo with Phoebe Bridgers, and another hard rock band called Desparecitos. I guess when Bright Eyes ended, one had to think that they would get back together eventually because you got the sense it was more of a hiatus rather than breaking up. I see the same thing with Jack White and the Raconteurs.

3. A New Old Artist... As mentioned before, Bright Eyes released a wealth of material in the 1990’s, but they really were not discovered by the mainstream until the early 2000’s. This is why it was strange that the band was named by many media outlets as Best New artist, but in fact they had been around for several years.

4. Nebraska Born and Bred... Bright Eyes has three primary members including Conor Oberst. They also include a rotating group of musicians from the Omaha, Nebraska area. Omaha has become synonymous with Conor Oberst and indie music. This can seem a bit strange as you would not think of Nebraska as being being a hotbed of anything indie.

5. A Folk Supergroup, Really... One of the projects that Connor Oberst worked on during Bright Eyes was Monsters of Folk. This was a group including Conor, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes, and others. The one observation I can make is that with this group you had 2/3 of Bright Eyes in it, but never the less people probably have a hard time labeling a folk band a supergroup. “Dear God” is one song worth checking out if you have never heard of them.

The balance of the podium places on the water were filled by Hall & Constable and Isaac Marsh & Oliver Davenport (GBR 15162), the P&B jockeys, but McCartin & Kinsella were in the chase as well as Mermod & Moser and Heather McFarlane & Chris Payne (AUS 15152). Indeed, the first three or four boats had pulled away from the body of the fleet and all looked comfortable. After another clean start in winds that were consistently above ten knots, the North jockeys, Gillard & Shandy had a very substantial lead. Having completed the two races slightly ahead of schedule, the Race Officer decided to give the fleet a three-lap third race - triangle-sausage-triangle. We also found ourselves with a new running order with Steve & Tom Goacher (GBR 15145) leading the fleet around the course - again quite comfortably. Race 2 was also a two-lap course but with more wind - the knots creeping up to 10 - 12. The top reach of the triangle looked exciting from our perspective and the second reach was also of a high standard. Hayling Island's David Sayce and Gareth Edwards (GBR 15112) would be next in line with Derian and Andy Scott (GBR 14941). However, the hosts of this regatta, were also well to the fore with the green spinnaker of Barry McCartin & Conor Kinsella (IRL 15093) in third. Behind them we found another white spinnaker but with a mainsail that had a distinctive sailmaker's label - that of Tom Gillard & Shandy (GBR 15122) and North Sails. It turned out to be the spinnaker of Claude Mermod & Ruedi Moser (SUI 14799) and they held the lead throughout the race. The procession of red spinnakers on Thursday and Friday's racing last week was broken when a white spinnaker was seen to take the lead at the weather mark, just less than a mile away from this correspondent on the committee boat. Wind at this stage was of the order of 8 knots with occasional fluctuations above and below this number. He was true to his word as he departed the shore shortly after 10:00 and got the fleet away to a punctual start for Race 1, a two-lap triangle and sausage course. After the loss of two races on Sunday due to insufficient wind, IRO Con Murphy advised the fleet at the GUL Fireball Worlds that three races would be on the agenda for Monday with an earlier start time of 11:00.

We finish Ranking Every Bomber Since 2015 with the final stretch, a selection of players who were consistent, dominated, and held the team together through a pretty dark era for the club.

In Part II, we get into the meat of the rankings. Most of the names you’d expect to be here are here and the Top 20 is as you’d expect although no-one probably thought of Ridley before this year to be ranked among the likes of Dustin Fletcher and Dylan Shiel.

Enough with the prelude. Let’s see where things finished up.

JR: If luck will let it be, Sam Draper will evolve into one of Essendon’s greatest ruckman and will become a Top 15 player. I hope I have not jinxed it. His first year was a real treat. Aggression is his friend. I wrote about Mitch Brown and how underrated he is and I sometimes have those feelings where I wish he was back at Essendon but then realize he plays one good game followed by three games where you don’t even know he exists.

DE: Some serviceable players here. McKenna was entering his prime, but having lived overseas myself I know how difficult it is to be so far from family and friends, so I sympathise with his need to return home. McKernan could have been anything, but again consistency was a killer. Could tear games apart, then be barely sighted the following week. Stringer is similar.

JR: My favourite Hocking games were when he tagged a key midfielder, like a Chris Judd and would blanket them. He was a brute who loved to tackle inside the centre square and packs that formed around stoppages. He was disciplined and a defensive-minded trier during a time when the Bombers lacked defensive hard nuts. Probably cut with the same physical cloth as a Hardwick or Solomon.

DE: Hocking, Howlett and Bellchambers were warriors for us during difficult times. Myers had such potential, but for some reason never seemed to be in favour enough with his coaches. I felt he could have been a game-breaker like Isaac Smith at Hawthorn if given the opportunities. Dempsey was exciting to watch when he was up and about.

JR: Fletcher will have greater stakes on other rankings we do. He was at the end of his career. Fantasia has been disappointing. He’s a weapon that possesses speed and goal-kicking sensibilities but not having a body that stands up to the rigours of AFL limits his progression in these rankings. Ridley went from unsighted to best and fairest winner in 12 months. He plays the game like a veteran which speaks to his calmness around the chaotic packs. Expect him to make inroads in years to come.

DE: The great Dustin Fletcher only falls down this list because he was at the tail end of his career. Otherwise, he’d be top-five. I reckon Gleeson was becoming a reliable and attacking defender before his injury, so hopefully he can regain his best form in 2021. Ridley will be top-five for years to come. Expect to see lots of kids, including my son Ernie, wearing No. 14 on their backs.

JR: Kelly came out of retirement to play 40 games for Essendon during a raw period for the Bombers. He excelled in making good decisions across half back and had sublime skills. He was a mentor to the young core of kids. I think he gave the club more than the Bombers bargained for on and off the field. He left Geelong at the end of 2015, started in 2016 at Essendon and he’s still at Windy Hill.

DE: Baguely’s high ranking might surprise some, but I really rated him. I thought he gave his all for us over a long period, even if he did turn it over sometimes. If Walla can get fitter, I’d love to see him throwing his weight around in the centre square more often. With Fantasia departing, more pressure will come onto his strong shoulders. Kelly was another who earned his way into Bomber hearts for the role he played (on and off the field) during the dark days.

10. Brent Stanton

JR: Stanton was a whipping boy for all things that went wrong on the field. Played during a period where the Bombers just weren’t very good. I think we undervalued his metres gained and the run and carry he provided. Instead we think about the costly turnovers. People laughed when he was given the no.5 jumper. But he became a pivotal piece to the team, a long servant, and loyal player. And those things mean something.

DE: I’ve settled on 10th place for Stanton with some trepidation. He was a favourite with coaches and teammates, but was one of my most frustrating players to watch as I felt he turned the ball over far too often. In the modern game, however, a player’s ability to run seems to outweigh their skill deficiencies. He wore the beloved No. 5, which never sat comfortably with me. But there was no denying he gave his all for our club, for which he should be commended.

9. Joe Daniher

JR: Is Joe going to regret leaving? When I think of his time at Essendon there’s only a few things that come to mind – Anzac Day 2017, the All-Australian nod, and his screamers. What won’t be missed: his set shot routine and (often) poor body language. He only played 15 games in the last three years but when fit, he’s unstoppable. I think there’s always going to be debate and question marks on where Joe fits when pitted against other Bombers.

DE: Unimaginable to think Joe will not be wearing an Essendon guernsey anymore, given the family’s involvement. But since becoming injury-prone he’s been a huge disappointment and, in terms of on-field output, I’m fine with him leaving. At his peak, he could have been Buddy Franklin-like, but sitting on the fence while your teammate kicks for goal is embarrassing. Imagine if Roughy had done that at Hawthorn…Clarko would have sent him home to Leongatha! Thanks for your service, Joe, but thanks, too, for the salary cap room.

8. David Zaharakis

7. Cale Hooker

JR: Both players have been very good servants over a ten-year period – Zaharakis has played 217 games; Hooker 201 games. Zaharakis gets credit for being able to stay relevant, playing roles, and doing what the teams needs him to be. If this was my all-time favourite Essendon player’s list, Hooker would be higher. The fact he shares the backline with Hurley – a superstar- probably takes inches off his position on this list. His reported displeasure about Bellchambers not getting a farewell game and the joy he emits when he kicks a goal only shows how much he cares for the club. Hooksy is all-time.

DE: Zaka has at times been dynamic, with his outside run and good decision-making as good as any in the league. Hooker could have accepted a huge offer to joining Fremantle, but stuck by the club and deserves to see out his career a one-club player. Sometimes makes strange decisions, but overall has been a terrific defender (at times forward) for us over a long time. Forget the footage of him chasing Buddy – Hook has given his all for our club. What more can you ask of someone?

6. Andrew McGrath

5. Brendon Goddard

JR: Goddard was a proven elite weapon with deadly foot skills before he came to Essendon. His leadership proved valuable to rebuilding and supplements teams. I wrote about Andrew McGrath’s incredible rise this year for Bomberlandia and covered his journey to the draft for Sportsnet. The two things that stand out are his athleticism and his leadership. His work around the ball is now elite. He’s only 22.

DE: McGrath will lead this list in the near future. His 2020 season was outstanding and, to me, he was our number-one leader through a difficult period as he showed a will to want to carry his teammates to victory week after week. Certain to replace Dyson in the near future and hold the position for a long time. Goddard could rub people the wrong way, but he showed us all what type of attitude you need to be a winner. A victim of poor circumstances when he arrived, but led the team admirably.

4. Dyson Heppell

3. Michael Hurley

JR: Hurley is approaching 200 games (193) and his longevity has seen him become of the best defenders Essendon has ever produced. I still think about what would have happened if he stayed a forward. If you think of all the games the Bombers have played since 2015, Hurley has probably featured in the best in most of them. I reported on Heppell during his Gippsland Power days for the Pakenham Gazette. On the field he changed games, made good decisions and was gutsy. Most of all his teammates looked up to him. That continued when he joined Essendon.

DE: As a fellow Leongatha boy, have followed Dyson’s career closely. Popular with everyone, he’s been a decent leader during difficult times. But it’s time for a more ruthless skipper, like a Voss or a Hodge or a McGrath. Hopefully he can keep his body healthy for the rest of his career. Hurley has been a warrior for us, crashing packs and putting his body on the line year after year. At one point I felt he should be captain. Like Dyson, I hope he stays healthy and finishes his career in red and black.

2. Jobe Watson

JR: I thought Jobe would be too slow to play in the midfield but he proved me wrong. I thought he wasn’t elite enough and then he won a Brownlow. He spent his career proving people wrong. A stoic leader. Stood tall during the supplement’s saga which happened during the twilight of his career which makes him, as Dan put it, “one of the greats.”

DE: Jobe would have been No. 1, but he was at the end of his career when this list starts. One of the best of his generation, poorly treated during the dark days yet remained a strong leader throughout. If a Team of the Century was picked today, he’d be on the bench at least. One of the greats. That he emerged from his father’s shadow to carve out his own fine career is a testament to his determination.

1. Zach Merrett

JR: What else needs to be said about Zach Merrett? The fact everyone was up-in-arms during the trade period at the thought of him going to a club like Carlton or Collingwood, says a lot about who he is and what he stands for. He’s been super consistent and reliable for a five-year stretch during a time where the Bombers haven’t been easy to read. I can only see McGrath or Josh Dunkley (if the club gets him) as two players that could surpass Merrett. Until that happens, it’s Zach Merrett over everyone.

DE: While Zachy isn’t a game-breaker in the way a Patrick Dangerfield is at Geelong, he has undoubtedly been our most consistent player over the period in question. No frills, just gets the job done. But it shows our lack of top-end talent when Zach stands alone for the Bombers on league leaderboards for stats.

Best Local Releases of 2017

10. Murk Daddy Flex - Bring on the Major Leagues Unbelievably talented producer temporarily opens up the Disney Vault just enough to leak out his first major release in three years. 9. Tunabunny - PCP Presents Alice In Wonderland Jr This double album from Athens’ best experimental pop band is a grab-bag of brief but memorable tunes. 8. Isaac Pancake - DRUMS OLO Athens (now Philly-based I think) producer Garrett Burke makes heavy electronic noise fun again. Imagine a collab album between DJ Rashad and Scott Walker. 7. Art Contest - Two Songs Another project from Garrett Burke who plays drums in this math rock duo with Cole Monroe on guitar. Very good math rock record, actually way more than two songs on the album. 6. Five Eight - Songs for St. Jude A formative band in Athens initial independent music boom, the discussion around Five Eight has always centered on how underrated they are compared to the mega-stars to rise from that era. Their new album shows that not only are they not defined by being the ones who “didn’t make it” they are damn-near the only band left from that time still kicking ass today. 5. VHS Collectors Club - Sweet Sleep Sleepy bedroom electronic tailor-made for Adult Swim bumper cards. Doesn’t break a ton of new ground sonically but producer Conor Lacey already shows immense promise for someone who is relatively brand new to the game. A notable step-up over last year’s Amateur Hour. 4. Lingua Franca - Lingua Franca Revelatory hip-hop from Mariah Parker who has quickly become one of the most recognizable and active faces in Athens music today while putting a lot of work into blurring the imaginary bullshit line that certain venues and tastemakers put up to try and separate Athens hip-hop from the rest of the Athens music scene. This self-titled debut features socially aware and deeply confessional tracks that also happen to have hooks and melodies that are catchy as fuck. If you can, try to pick up the album at a live show, Parker’s stage banter and energy makes most of the other bands in this town seem catatonic by comparison. 3. Under a Sky So Blue - The Spectacle Provides Heavy screamo music with a progressive bent, Under a Sky So Blue’s wall of noise presentation will probably scare a few people away but those willing to dive in will be handsomely rewarded. Anyone who spent their youth as a bleeding heart, bleeding ears hardcore kid should find something to love in an EP that responds to a frightening political climate with an unfettered and unafraid act of musical aggression. 2. Harlot Party - I Want To Be Recalcitrant, I Am Just Exhausted Deeply personal rock from self-described “friends and lovers” KyKy Renee Knight and Garrett Knighton. The one-two punch of “Whop” and “Preemptive Apologist” (a scathing epic about Knight’s strained relationship with her father followed by a real voicemail from him with some ambient noise underneath) carries an emotional punch that is simply unmatched by another record to come out of Athens this year. Knight’s honest and brutal navigation of difficulties in her life and in American society as a whole makes this a necessary listen. 1. Double Ferrari - Double Ferrari Long overdue debut release from guitarist Jace Bartet’s instrumental metal-ish band. Double Ferrari takes all the best remnants of the hair metal genre and repurposes them into a joyful modern-day package that calls to mind the likes of positive rock icons like Andrew W.K. and former indie-blog rock darlings Fang Island. Though the album is completely devoid of lyrics, Double Ferrari is a downright emotional and often genuinely healing experience. With some material on this album being in the works in some form for more than half a decade, at some points it feels like you can literally hear the weight being lifted off Bartet’s shoulders as he releases his brilliant rock to the masses. No other local album this year will put a bigger smile on your face.

Jonathan Kodjia’s last brace for Aston Villa came in the 2-2 draw against Brentford in the Championship in August 2018

Aston Villa overwhelmed Liverpool’s youngest-ever starting line-up to cruise into the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup at Villa Park.

With the Reds’ senior players in action at the Club World Cup in Qatar on Wednesday, Under-23s boss Neil Critchley led a side containing five debutants and which had an average age of 19 years, six months and three days.

While Villa made 10 changes from their Premier League defeat at Sheffield United, their vastly superior experience ensured they lived up to their favourites tag.

Liverpool began brightly – and indeed enjoyed significant spells of possession throughout the match – but conceded two freak goals in the space of three first-half minutes to allow the hosts to settle.

First, Conor Hourihane’s free-kick from the right deceived Caoimhin Kelleher, and the Reds keeper then saw an Ahmed Elmohamady cross deflect off Morgan Boyes and loop over him into the left corner.

Jonathan Kodjia added Villa’s third with a cool finish after Jota’s through ball before sweeping in Elmohamady’s cross from the right.

Wesley completed the scoring for the hosts, who reached the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since 2012-13.

Five-times winners Villa head into a two-legged semi-final in January, although manager Dean Smith might view forthcoming league matches against Southampton, Norwich and Watford – the three teams below them in the table – as arguably of greater significance.

A unique game

Significant statistics were plentiful as the teams were confirmed.

At an average of 19.48 years, it was the youngest line-up in Liverpool’s history, eclipsing the 21.81 in an FA Cup tie against Plymouth nearly three years ago.

The starting side boasted a paltry 16 previous first-team appearances for Liverpool between them while their shirt numbers added up to 737.

None of the Liverpool players were alive the last time Villa won a trophy, when they beat Leeds to win this competition in 1996.

By the final whistle, there was a more sobering statistic. This was Liverpool’s heaviest League Cup defeat, eclipsing a 4-1 loss to West Ham in 1988 and a 6-3 reverse by Arsenal in 2007.

Of course, given the unique circumstances, the result should almost come with an asterisk. Football statistics do not work like that though, so into the record books the result will go.

Elliott’s impressive contribution

When Harvey Elliott made his first EFL Cup appearance, he was so young he had to get changed away from his team-mates on child protection grounds as he was still to reach his 16th birthday.

He is still not old enough to drive and can’t turn professional until his 17th birthday in April but Elliott is clearly talented and against Villa underlined why Liverpool were so keen to persuade him to move north from Fulham in the summer.

It was Elliott’s early shot that forced Orjan Nyland into a one-handed save when the game was still goalless and he provided a terrific pass that allowed Isaac Christie-Davies to go close later in the half.

He played on the right wing but it is his cultured left foot that is his key weapon, making difficult passes look easy and always offering a threat to the opposition – even when they are seasoned professionals – when on the ball.

Watching from Liverpool’s team hotel in Doha, Jurgen Klopp is sure to have been impressed, as was Critchley, Elliott’s boss in Birmingham.

Job done for Villa

This was a fixture Villa knew was a ‘no-win’ scenario.

Assuming it turned out as it did, it was always going to be dismissed as exactly the result that was expected. If they had lost, though, ridicule would inevitably have followed.

As it turned out, Smith’s side were professional and clinical, ensuring there was no need to call on substitutes Jack Grealish or John McGinn.

It was a good night for Villa’s £11m striker Kodjia too, who has been restricted to 41 minutes of action in the Premier League this season.

With first-choice forward Wesley struggling for form – the Brazilian’s injury-time effort was his first in 10 games going back to 5 October – Kodjia’s two-goal contribution was well timed.

The Ivorian’s first goal in particular required a calm finish after he raced clear following a mistake by Boyes.

Liverpool stand-in manager Neil Critchley talking to Sky Sports:“I thought we were magnificent. We were fantastic from the start, we had a couple of chances from the first whistle. We were really unfortunate to concede and then find ourselves 2-0 down. It was an incredible night and no-one wanted it to end. The support we had was unbelievable.

“The conduct of the Villa players was first class. For Dean Smith and John Terry to come in to our dressing room after the game and say the things they said… They said ‘keep going, good luck’ and wished us the best. A moment I will remember and the players will remember for the rest of their lives.

“Some of them showed the potential to one day play for us, or in the Premier League. They will know it was just part of their journey. My overwhelming feeling is one of immense pride.”

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith on BBC Radio 5 Live:“It was probably the weirdest major competition quarter-final I’ve seen or been involved in. They started brightly, they’ve got some technically gifted young players. We were clinical, professional and showed a good attitude. It was a bit of a no-win for us apart from getting through to a semi-final.

“I must credit the players. Before the game I used the word ‘attitude’ – it had to be right today. Everyone expected us to win, we expected to win, but you’ve still got to do the job. Even though we were playing a young Liverpool team, we had James Chester who hadn’t played for 11 months, it was Jonathan Kodjia and Orjan Nyland’s first game of the season too. I thought Jota was a bit of a Rolls Royce for us tonight.

��Wesley needed that goal. He’s got a little bit of unfair stick. He’s a young player, he’s got great honesty and attitude. It was a good finish. It will do him the world of good.

“I was brought up coaching U18s and U23s, Liverpool played really well tonight but they’ll be disappointed with the result. They’ve got some starlets that will be performing at Premier League level in the next three or four years.”

Best of the stats

Aston Villa have reached the semi-finals of the League Cup for the first time since the 2012/13 campaign, while Liverpool have been eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the competition for the first time since 2007/08.

Aston Villa’s 5-0 victory was just their second win in their last 21 home matches against Liverpool in all competitions (D5 L14), ending a run of six consecutive defeats against the Reds on home turf.

Liverpool’s defeat was their first in 20 games across all competitions (W16 D3), with Aston Villa becoming the first side to beat them since Napoli in the Champions League back in September.

Liverpool suffered their biggest margin of defeat in any competition since September 2017, when they lost 5-0 against Manchester City in the Premier League.

Liverpool conceded four first-half goals for the first time in any competition since May 2015, against Stoke in the Premier League.

The average age of Liverpool’s starting side against Aston Villa was 19 years & 182 days, the youngest starting line-up the Reds have ever fielded for a competitive fixture.

Only Burton’s Liam Boyce (five) has scored more League Cup goals this season than Aston Villa’s Conor Hourihane (four).

What’s next?

Liverpool play Mexican side Monterrey in their Club World Cup semi-final in Qatar on Wednesday. They next play in the Premier League on Boxing Day, when they travel to Leicester (20:00 GMT). Villa host Southampton on 21 December (15:00 GMT).
