TK Strand is Autistic. (I have evidence I just thought I would start with that. Straight to the point you know)

I would also like to say this is written by an autistic person who has done hours of research in autism. So I kind of know what I’m talking about I think.

Special Interest (there isn’t a lot for this one but there is some soo)

So the first example is from season 2 episode 2. Mateo is talking about his new tattoo and mentions TK’s tattoo. He says “You’re the one with the beetle in your arm.” to TK. TK responds with, “It’s not a beetle it’s a honey bee.” And then without and prompting says l, “Did you know honey bees pollinate a third of our food supply?” I know that by itself it’s not exactly great evidence. Combined with everything else I will speak about it fits. Like the only prompting he had for this random bee fact was Mateo bringing up the tattoo.

Monotone Voice/Flat Face

Every single episode. It’s especially noticeable when he’s working. He has very little facial expression and his voice stays flat. I was going to try and find a scene that I could link here but it’s really difficult to find a scene that’s not just him and Carlos or him just passed out, and I feel like using a clip of him being passed out wouldn’t really prove my point, but if you compare his facial expressions and voice to there during very intense events you’ll notice it. Such as Season 3 Episode 11. The whole capital building is shut down and everyone on the team has at least a little bit of worry on their faces, but TK looks so unbothered. Like this is completely normal. He is obviously worried but it doesn’t really show. The only time he really has expression is around Carlos. I know there are definitely some other exceptions, but a majority of the time this applies.

Stimming (There is so much evidence for this)

TK stims in literally every episode. I’m not going to put every example because that would take literally hours and although I do have time for that I don’t want to. So we’ll start with season 1 episode 4 when TK goes to chemo with his dad. Now this one could just be him being anxious but I have more I swear. Just watch the first 12 seconds of the clip. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uHp4ME6v7MA. Okay another example or I could say examples is him just messing with his hands. At all times. He never stops. If you watch him during the show you’ll notice this. I would put examples but once again way too many. The next one that comes to mind is TK during season 3 episode 19 when they hold the intervention for Nancy and Mateo towards the end of the episode. If you watch him throughout the entire scene you’ll see it but the part I’m talks about is between 46 seconds and 48 seconds of the clip I’m about to give the link to. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_7rtPmn99i8. The last one I’m going to mention despite there being so much more is TK during season 4 episode 8. Once again if you watch you’ll see him stimming throughout it, but the particular scene I’m talking about is when he fires his dad. The more he gets upset the more you see it. Being Upset By Change

I only have two examples of this but I think they fit pretty well. The first one also comes from season 3 episode 17. He is having the conversation about catan with Nancy, and seems very hesitant about changing from catan. To be fair they all were but he could t even begin to understand why she would want to change it. It all starts when Nancy says, “We’re both over Catan.” TK at this point gets really confused because who wouldn’t want to play the same game every time they have a game night because he certainly would. He responds with “Over Catan? But that’s like our national pastime Nance.” Later in this conversation Nancy says, “I think it’d be good for all of us to change things up. Spice of life.” The way TK responds once again shows how uncomfortable he is with the change. Replying with “Catan is spicy” after she left. The second example is from season 2 episode 6 when TK finds out he’s going to have a little brother. This might just be me but it seems a little out of character for TK to be jealous of having a sibling. It might be a bit if a stretch but if I’m right it could easily be attributed to that.

Sensory Issues

Okay so I can only think of a couple examples of this but will start with this one . The never ending collection of hoodies. He obviously is very attached to his hoodies. To the point where in his coma dream his mom (his subconscious) says “so many innocent hoodies lost their lives that day.” We also often see him wearing his hoodies after a particularly stressful day, but he wears them all the time. Like he has an endless supply. Where does he store all of them? The second example I have is a little better. It’s from season 3 episode 3. At the beginning of the coma dream TK is hearing a beeping noise and he doesn’t exactly know what it is but he has a very strong reaction to the noise. Bad at Telling Hunger

Another very common autistic trait is not being able to tell when they are hungry, thirsty, etc. I can only find two examples of TK with showing this trait and that is in season 3 episode 13. TK says “I think I’m going to skip dinner tonight. I’m not really hungry.” Carlos responds with, “You always say that and end up eating at 2 am.” Based off of Carlos comment this has happened multiple times. Another example is in this same episode more towards the beginning. Carlos asks TK if he wants to change before they ate and TK responds with the fact that he already ate, leading Carlos to say he can’t survive on donuts alone. In this case TK had actually already eaten. But it is also implied that this has also happened before.

Bad At Metaphors/Subtext

I can think of at least 2 examples for this one. The they are both in season 3 episode 17. The first one is once again related to catan. When Nancy says that her and Mateo are both over it. It’s pretty obvious that she is speaking of something other than Catan. I know he didn’t know they were together but she was implying something with the way she said it. TK wasn’t picking up on that at all. He was just confused as to why she wouldn’t want to play Catan. The second example is later in the episode when Nancy and Mateo say they are going to get coffee. Everyone in the room is confused but you can tell they are talking about something else and are going to let them leave. TK on the other hand says they have coffee there. Not even thinking about the fact that they might be talking about something else.

Literally His whole conversation with Iris

Honestly I have no way to describe this but TKs who conversation with Iris in season 4 episode 2. When he goes to talk to her at her job. The whole thing is just I don’t know how to describe it. I can’t find a clip but the conversation is just two neurodivergents talking to each other except both of them are confused.

Going Non verbal

I have no actual confirmation that he goes non verbal but I do have a couple of examples that could be taken that way. The first on being how his mom says he shuts down. When the paramedic team gets kidnapped Carlos goes to Gwen and Owen’s house looking for him and she says something along the lines of “I knew we should watch him when he shuts down like this” Tk is usually pretty talkative but during a particularly stressful situation he is weirdly quiet. Such as in season 4 episode 9 when marjan is missing. Everyone else is asking questions and expressing their worries and he is just sitting there completely quiet. This happens multiple time throughout the series and I don’t feel like showing them all so you’ll just have to watch to figure it out, but trust me it happens.

I could probably have found more examples but I think this is more than enough information to prove my point. Anyway…

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and this is where I've ended up for now (we'll see if it changes once I do a complete rewatch):

The Engagement Scene in 3x18

This is simply the scene for me. In the first 24 hours after it aired, I think I watched it at least 50 times, and then averaged about 10 times a day for the next few weeks, then at least a once a day for months. Every single aspect of the scene is perfect. TK petting Carlos' hair to wake him, Carlos and his lizard trauma, the way Carlos starts out confused and sleepy and we can see him gradually realize what's going on and what it means (especially the moment when he kind of sits up and takes a breath--like he's realizing this is serious, it's really happening!), TK calling Carlos his husband before he even proposes, the abundance of soft and affectionate touches between them throughout the whole thing (don't even get me started on TK playing with Carlos' earlobe I will cry 😭), the tears dripping down both their faces, "TYLER CAN I SAY YES NOW", the forehead touch, that KISS...I could go on and on, but I'll stop.

2. The Soulmates Scene in 4x16

Before season 4 started, I assumed that the wedding would end up being my favorite of the season. But that was before I saw the soulmates scene! It's another scene that couldn't be more perfect and is so beautifully acted by both Ronen and Rafa. With the potential of a Huntington's diagnosis, TK is so scared (for very good reason), but what bothers him most is the thought of Carlos having to face it all alone. I love the way the scene progresses. First, Carlos is clearly very concerned and just trying to wrap his mind around what TK is telling him. Then, TK tries to give him an out and Carlos doesn't even get what he means at first. It's so far from anything he would ever consider. Once Carlos sees what TK is getting at, it's almost funny to him that TK would suggest such a thing. Nothing could be more ridiculous. But Carlos knows exactly what to say. This moment is such a perfect encapsulation of the Tarlos journey in season 4--the way they choose each other again and again with so much unconditional love. If he has to, Carlos will introduce himself to TK every day: "Hi. You're TK. I'm Carlos. And we're soulmates." 😭

3. The Wedding--specifically the vows--in 4x18

The one thing I truly wanted from the wedding was to see the vows in their entirety. We got that, and it honestly exceeded my very high expectations. The vows could not have been more perfect. (In fact, I love them so much that I'm currently spending weeks cross stitching them!) I adore so many lines throughout, but my favorite is "I vow to be the caretaker of your wild heart." They both ended their vows with heart 😭

4. The Decision to Postpone the Wedding in 4x18

This scene is the one I'm most obsessed with from the finale. I could not stop watching it in the days after it aired. It's a short scene, but it had a huge impact on me. The way it starts off with TK asking Carlos to come back to bed and offering to rub his back still makes me want to sob. Then we get a "Tyler," and TK knows what Carlos is going to say, and knows how hard it will be to say, so he doesn't make him be the one to say it. The part that gets me the most is Carlos' voice breaking as he says, "You better not," followed by the forehead touch that mirrors the one in 3x18. Even though it's such a sad scene, it's permeated with so much love throughout. It's truly one of the most beautiful scenes.

5. Coma Wakeup->Loft Scene in 3x04

Since these scenes are back-to-back, I've always counted them as one. It seems fair to me, especially when it's already so hard to narrow Tarlos scenes down to a top 5. At this point, "Hey, baby...breathe," is pretty iconic. Waking up from a coma to tell the love of your life to breathe is definitely soulmate level behavior. And then the loft scene just elevates it all. Seeing them so happy together in their home heals all wounds of the breakup and then some! My favorite moment is when TK looks around the loft and you can see him realize that this is real...he really gets to have this. He got scared and blew it up, but in the end that didn't matter because his soulmate, the love of his life, his future husband is there with his unconditional love, prepared to choose TK over and over again, just like TK is prepared to do for him.

↳ plz before i get called a cheater, these two tracks kinda sound the same because it's the same vocalist (TK is him as a solo artist, LTS is the band). unravel (tokyo ghoul) beats abnormalize (psycho pass) when it comes to audio, but visual-wise i just dig the art for psycho pass's OP more. like yeah the art for tokyo ghoul opening is much more of a feast to the eyes and the animations slap, but psycho pass as an anime entirely hits different to me.

↳ visuals-wise it's normal (pls it's the type of OP that feels like a spoiler if u watch it wtf 😭 but it really doesn't spoil anything). i'm just in love with this because it works well as an opening song, but also works for fight scenes (kinda like unravel).

whoever is behind bungou stray dogs sure did a great job of inserting the opening song in the middle of the episode. like i rmr getting confused there hasn't been an opening yet few mins into the episode, and then there it is in the fight scene itself. it gets a 10/10 in versatility because it just always fits all throughout the season.

↳ never beating the cheating allegations bc here we are again with a tie. in my defense, asian kung-fu generation anime openings r really fuckinnnn good. visually it's haruka kanata (naruto) for me especially cus of the team 7 snippets, but audio-wise rewrite (fma) is something i'll never get tired of listening to. makes me feel like i'm a main character smoking after i just beat up dozens of guys. (i didn't watch fma though zz but for some reasons i know of this song)

↳ durarara!! is one of my all-time fav animes tbh and this opening just gives the proper vibes for it. drrr's storytelling is very non-linear (rashomon effect/method forgot the literary term) where you get different povs from each character before it culminates into one event, and this song feels like that? it feels like i'm in the middle of tokyo piecing together all the stories i've gotten and then getting sudden clarity.

↳ someone recommended jujutsu kaisen to me way back and ngl i'm a serial anime opening skipper but i was just physically unable to skip this one every time. like? even the visuals go hard. eventful anime opening for such an eventful anime tbh.

↳ proud to be one of the ppl who actually know abt this song from bakemonogatari itself 😭 tbh the anime's opening songs don't really go hard even if it's that kind of genre. i honestly like bakemonogatari though and it was funny to me that all the ops were cutesy despite it being a mystery show.

it's quirky yet still fits the premise of the series, like mc just bickers with some people he meets and then boom suddenly he's covered in blood. shoutout to shaft studio because they're just a master of absurd anime. like yeah there are fight scenes but ?? the way it's not even the main point of the show is fun to me.

Lonestar update: Finished watching up to 3x04

I didn't realize that the ice storm was a whole multi episode arc but I'm not complaining.

What is this Owen plot I'm genuinely so confused. Like ???. Did the show really need him to play the savior this badly? I didn't like this plot at all.

I said it before and I'll say it again Marjan is a freaking badass. I love her. Also they showed like one scene with her and Carlos and now I desperately need more of this duo!!

Grace freaking Ryder. I absolutely loved her calling Billy out! She let him hear it and how. Also the whole time her and Billy were trying to get to a hospital in my head I was like Judd is going to kill Billy for putting his wife through this.

Baby Ryder has arrived! Judd is now outnumbered and I have a feeling he'll absolutely love the fact that they have a mini Grace.

TK!!! I get that they needed to put TK in serious danger for angst but I found it incredibly stupid that it didn't occur to Tommy or Nancy that TK might have hypothermia ESPECIALLY since they were so concerned about the kid getting it.

Also I was FULLY ready to hate on whatever explanation the show was going to come up with for the Tarlos break up but I CAN'T!!!

Their break up was sooo in character for both of them and it felt like something a real couple might go through. I also really appreciate that TK was able to acknowledge that what Carlos did was as problematic as it was sweet. And his whole disposition of being afraid because everything was too perfect, that shit is relatable af.

Carlos on the other hand, boy really needs to understand to respect TK's boundaries. This whole situation with the house feels very similar to season 1 when he had a whole date planned out without talking to TK about it first. Even back then they both had agreed on one thing together so Carlos shouldn't have just decided to change things up by himself and in 3x04 with the house he shouldn't have bought it without telling TK.

I absolutely LOVE the Tarlos scene that happens when TK wakes up. And I'm so happy they're back together. I feel like they're about to grow together throughout the rest of the season and I cannot wait to see it.

I was planning on making only 1 post summing up my thoughts after watching the whole season but I had waaay too many thoughts after the ice storm arc 😅

analysis of the tarlos proposal that no one asked for :)

so, it happened the way i thought it would. owen almost died and it made tk realise not every day is promised and in that realised he didn't want to waste anymore time and wanted carlos as his husband.

it's also the most tk thing ever to propose at 3 am.

tk waking him up and carlos immediately thinking something was wrong is kinda cute but also shows how much they've been together (the fire and lou the lizard)

carlos is so sleepy when tk wakes him up, and throughout this season we see carlos have to deal with tk's shenanigans and just get more and more tired so him getting woken up at 3 am by tk probably doesn't happen a lot. i mean sure, carlos has to deal with tk's shenanigans a lot but from the way he woke up, shooting up worried something was wrong (i wanna dig into this scene a little. carlos still has some minor ptsd from their house burning down if the first thing his mind goes to is danger and house fire, like this poor man just wants to sleep), and tk is immediately calming, telling him to relax and that everything is okay, running his fingers through carlos's hair to adding more comfort and making carlos more sleepy and confused on why tk was so insistent about his will, because it wasn't an emergency and, as he said, "you've put it off this long, can't it wait another few hours"

but it can't wait and the second tk says husband he's awake. he's wide awake because did he hear that right? or is tk just tired from it being 3 am? and then tk asks and of course carlos wants to make sure tk won't regret it. he wants tk to be comfortable so he gives him the opportunity to back down, take it back, no questions asked and no big hullabaloo.

but no. tk wants this. he wants a life with carlos and he wants to get married to that man. him proposing at 3 am just adds to how important it was to him. he couldn't wait anymore to call carlos his fiance, his husband.

no planning, not like with alex. it's a life changing decision made at 3 am, and yet, it couldn't have been more perfect. tk proposed because he can't physically see a life with carlos, but he proposed to alex out of fear of being alone. he loves carlos, and he needs carlos to know this

and he lets carlos know by giving him his speech and of course he starts rambling slightly but everything he says he means. and carlos just wants so badly to reassure tk that he's not gonna say no that he cuts him off, but not in a bad way. he hold tk's face, which is reassuring as fuck might i add, and then proceeds to ask "can i say yes now"

and then tk says "i sure hope so" because there is still a little doubt playing in the back of his mind that carlos is gonna say no. i mean, he wouldn't, but that fear is still very real for tk because it happened before.

and carlos, the sweetheart he is, proceeds to "yes, a thousand times yes" and you can see the relief in tk's face. and then there's the little bit of humour that had been there to break up the intensity of the scene

"your not just saying yes so you can go back to sleep, right?"

"maybe?"

like this small scene just makes them a little more realistic. tk couldn't help himself but to make a joke, which has been their whole relationship. small jabs filled with affection and they just wrap up each other because they're engaged, they're both alive and in that moment, no one else existed, because they're going to be husbands

ooh I'm so curious about the mechanical bull one! But also the tarlos little league au!

for the mechanical bull one, carlos is not a cop so the two never met when tk moved to austin. after having a call about a bull and a bull rider, tk and mateo decide to place a bet on who can ride a mechanical bull longer. the pair plus nancy, paul, and marjan, who can't possibly miss out on the hilarious fun that this will be, all head out to a local bar.

the tarlos little league au is the one i have the most written for and probably will be the first one i finish. so the plot is that some of canon happened so of it didn't skjflksdjf. tk and carlos never met when tk moved to austin because carlos isn't a cop. instead they end up meeting when judd ropes owen and tk into helping him coach the twin's little league team. carlos, the very involved uncle, takes his niece to her first practice (and then a lot of practices after that because he might have a thing for the 3rd base/batting coach). there's going to be a lot of awkward interactions and a lot of misunderstood communication throughout the season. it'll be fun. have a little fun snippet.

A hand clapped him on the shoulder. “Don’t worry so much, our girls got this.”

“It’s not that.” TK responded as he hazarded a glance over his shoulder to see Carlos watching him with a more confused look than before. The other man quickly looked away though as the two’s eyes met. 

There was a deep chuckle from the older man next to him. “Why don’t you just ask him out?”

TK looked over at Judd with a lifted eyebrow as if the firefighter should know exactly why. It only was met with a look of expectancy. TK sighed, “Because if things go bad, it’ll be awkward to have to see him.”

Judd hummed and rubbed at his chin. “As if you’re all doing a bang up job when it comes to not being awkward.”

The feigned annoyance didn’t hold much weight as TK huffed a laugh. “Shut up.”

You mentioned about BV4. I would love to hear your take on it. I also felt that things were absurdly weird. Like taekook ignoring each other especially in places you expect them to talk to each other. Also both being tipsy and busking. Tae crying looking at moon especially after he heard jk's busking. Everything was so at different places.

1 more thing I noticed even though BV4 was not too much on our place in terms of relationship but they kept jikook together constantly throughout activities, be it tenting or anything. Nothing against it just stating my observations.

I think you might be confusing BV4 and BV3, or getting them mixed up with each other.  This post pretty much gives my thoughts on TK in BV4, which can be summarized as: they seem to avoid each other a lot early in the season and aren't shown interacting very much, but it seems to me that when we do see them together, there's every indication that they're as close as ever.  BV4 was filmed in 2019 in New Zealand.

BV3 took place in Malta, and that was the season where Taehyung and Jungkook did some busking -- which they did separately, on different days -- and the season where Taehyung was crying while the guys were camping and Jimin took him to go look at the moon to comfort and distract him.  I don't think Taehyung's crying had anything to do with Jungkook; he wasn't even there to hear Jungkook's busking, which had happened on a different night.  Taehyung showed up to that trip late, about halfway into it, and I believe we know that it was because his grandfather had died, so I think it's much more likely that when he cried, it was because of that.

Honestly I didn't notice that Jikook were put together a lot in either season.  I believe that in BV3, the six members who were there in the beginning were paired up for a day, and Jimin and Jungkook were paired for that.  Other than that, any time they spent together, I assumed it was because they chose to, unless we were shown the pairing process for certain activities.

Once Taehyung did join the rest of the group in BV3, we got kind of a lot actually.  We got to see Jungkook perk up and get really excited at lunch when they were told that Taehyung had arrived and was on his way over, the whole saga with Taehyung choosing a room, where the guys had agreed not to tell him anything about the rooms and make him take whichever one he opened first, but then Jungkook gave literally everything away so that Taehyung would know which room was his (up until then, a private room) and Taehyung chose that one.  After dinner one night, the two of them went out with one of the older members (I think it was Jin) and went to a little amusement park, and Jungkook later shared two photos of Taehyung from the same night (this time with no Jin in sight), one taken by the water and one taken at a wine bar.

In general, I do love all four seasons of Bon Voyage, but I also do think they're a bit weird.  The point of them is to entertain and to give fans a bit more of a look into what BTS are actually like.  At the same time, as BTS themselves have been very open about, there's a lot that they can't share with fans or the general public.  They have to guard themselves pretty closely, so I think it makes sense that there are some disconnects in situations where they've got cameras on them constantly for an entire week at a time.  There are going to be things, no matter what, that they can't say, things they can't do, and things that they say and do which are later edited out -- both for time and narrative, but also for that same reason: they can't share everything.  That's true of everyone, and it makes sense that not everything we see necessarily seems to all add up into one logical narrative when we look at it more closely.

I’m not trying to be mean seriously I’m genuinely just wondering but how do we fans and viewers seem to have a better grasp on storytelling, like leading up to and following up stories with intense and dramatic storylines? Because we have been talking about how they wrote these intense moments throughout the season, just nonstop tragic and drama factory with no room for us or the characters to breathe or recover/make sense of what just happened because something new is always happening. And also the fact that majority of the characters still don’t have proper character development and screen time. I would say mostly only Judd and TK have that but even then, that’s a generous statement because I would still like to dive deeper into both of their characters but I hope you get what I mean. I would have said Owen but he hasn’t developed as a character- if anything he seems to be regressing because he hasn’t improved and he’s still the same old ‘it’s all about me’ Owen. We know his backstory but he hasn’t grown like Judd and TK have been. How do WE seem to understand story structure and developing characters more than the writers and they get PAID to do all of this? I love the show but seriously it’s like their main focus is on Owen and they act like it would kill them to just make the season/show more cohesive/equal. We get moments of cohesiveness of course but overall I need more. Out of the entire season, we maybe get 2 or 3 cohesive moments. Because I guarantee if they stopped making it the Owen Strand show then the season/show would improve instantly lmao. Then the writers would be able to develop characters, plan out plots that maybe happen over the course of several episodes and then give us a follow up/closure which we NEVER get now. I’m genuinely wondering maybe they don’t see their show the way we do but I’m just confused because it’s like you guys created it. You guys created these characters, how they think, how they feel, where they came from- how do you guys not see what’s missing? I know they’re making progress little by little I’m not saying they aren’t and I’m not trying to be mean to them I’m genuinely just confused lmao

As a fan, it’s always disappointing to see the writers not care about the things that we want to see and to choose the easy route motivated by moneymaking. And honestly, while their methods may work now, they future of the show is at stake because when all you have to rely on is flashy plots, you write yourself into a corner without proper development because those plots quickly become repetitive and boring as the viewers are desensitized to major events. So many shows lose sight of the storytelling elements and then they lose control of the show because they’re relying on all *TK Strand voice* Grand Gestures when longevity requires attention to details.

 Honestly, I don’t think it’s so much a grasp on storytelling that’s the problem. Of course, I don’t think the writers are using storytelling elements as well as they could, but it seems to me that they’re not ignorant about storytelling. It’s just not a priority for them, and when they can get good viewership without having to focus on those things, there’s really no reason to do all that.  

 I think they choose to write the way they do more than them not knowing how to write good content, which is even worse in my view (but it’s also fueled by the general culture of TV writing rooms I would say). With TV, high quality stories aren’t always the priority, and while dedicated fans yearn to have those stories, the average viewer doesn’t necessarily need more from the writers. They aren’t into fandom, and they’re not spending that much time thinking about it. No doubt there’s sometimes something very appealing in media that isn’t that deep or serious. I often read books that don’t have great storytelling features just for the sake of entertainment, and that’s perfectly fine! The way they’re dealing with stories is a very clickbait-y method. They’re trying to reel people in with big stories and keep up the momentum, and on some levels, I do think that can be an effective method.

I do think that lone star is for the most part entertaining. I’m on the edge of my seat the whole time, and I’ve got lots of curiosity, even when they have bad plots. If I were a casual viewer who was mostly tuning in because I wanted something mindless to do, I’d be satisfied, but I don’t stop thinking about the show once I turn off the TV. Thus, after the flashiness is gone, the screen is black, and I’m left to think about what I’ve seen, I feel unsatisfied because the emotional connection isn’t what I want it to be and neither is the story development.

All that doesn’t stop me from wanting more from the writers because I’d love to see a better balance between the sheer entertainment factor and the storytelling elements, but I also think the writers are making conscious choices. They’re not oblivious to how stories work, and they’re prioritizing what they do with the characters and the show based on how to get people to watch their show.

I want to share my experience that Supernatural has done to my psyche. I have spent fifteen years watching the show like other fans. In my country it used to start in October and end in May. I used to wait longingly when October would come and in the chill of autumn under a comfy blanket I could watch Supernatural. The ending of each season was defeating a big bad and producing a bigger bad. No rest , no comfort, no happy ending. Each season it continued. I did not realize at that I'm getting used to that kind of ending for each season. Then a sentence pronounced by Dean Winchester gave me hope, I really wanted this type of ending-- a sunny beach, wine, Hawaiian colourful shirts for three of our boys, wanted a shot of star-studded night under the open sky with a bonfire, wanted a scene of Cas staring at the night sky in a dark balcony, hands on the railing and Dean approaching with two beer cans in his hand. Dean's words of retirement on s13 ep23 gave me hope. I waited. Then s15 ep18 happened. I did not let my hope go. But the finale shattered everything, every dream. Nothing good happened in the final finale. No rest no comfort ,it is not a happy ending man.

Now the part what this show has done to my psyche. After some struggle I made up mind and decided to watch 911. First season I waited for a sad finale, but it gave a happy and satisfying finale , second season again I waited for an angsty ending , then again it gave me a happy and satisfying finale. Then it strikes me that I am suffering from PTSD from Supernatural. I'm expectinging every show is going to give that type of angsty finales that Spn given so far till the end. Sorry if I bored you but it's really happened to me. But you see what I mean, what happens if one invests so much emotion.

Yes.

There were tiny slivers and snippets of hope dished out throughout the show. But I honestly thought it was going to be angsty with a happy ending.

But we all should have listened to Jensen and Misha when they talked about the ending. And how they felt about it.

At two different cons, Misha pretty much told everyone about the confession and that Cas was just going to die.

Jensen, repeatedly, told us that he didn’t like the finale and that it didn’t sit well with him.

This show has ruined me.

I’m a 37 year old woman and all I’ve been able to think about since 11.05 is that confession, and then the confusion and, for lack of a better word, despair that I’ve felt since Inherit the Earth and Carry On… it’s been devastating.

Like you, I watched this show for 15 years. I’ve been a fan since the pilot aired and I watched it live on tv. I’ve watched almost every episode live, for 15 years.

My relationship with this show lasted longer than relationships I’ve been in during my tenure of watching this show. LOL.

911 Lonestar kinda makes up for it though because TK and Carlos are freaking adorable.

The one show that I’ve felt was gonna keep me angst-filled was Prodigal Son, and so far… it is lol.

Though, I have hope for Malcolm next season based on something that happened this season.

Watch Prodigal Son at your own risk, because it is pretty angsty (heavily, at times). And I can’t figure out if the show will actually let Malcom be happy and get the girl in the end.

Final note… I know it’s hard. But try to remember to take a breath. In the end, it is just a show, even though one many people have identified with for a decade to a decade and a half.

Watch something inherently happy and giggle-inducing whenever you feel sad, especially over our boys and how they were done dirty.

I’m not sure what your shipping preferences are, but personally, whenever I feel upset about Destiel and how the show ended, I either read some really good fanfic (Through the Grapevine is a fabulous post-canon fix-it fic) or I watch some cockles panels lol.

It's very unexpected indeed, because the main expectation was that we might see carlos going to those grief counselling sessions or something similar. That's why I'm having hard time imagining carlos&tk reaching a point where they'd need couples therapy when they never had those underlying deep issues of not being understanding or not being willing to understand and listen to one another especially when one of them is going through a hard time and offering whatever the other needs in order to keep going. And they've been through so much together in the past and they always manage to come through together and sort everything out. So I'm curious to see how a grief rooted issue would lead them there.. especially because as you said they're in good place now since last season of course and and have been for a the last three episodes so to have this spiral fast is.. something, maybe we're gonna get flashbacks? we'll see.

And DON'T GET ME STARTED ON 1x05 PLEASE I hate it with a passion too. the writing was so bad and so out of character for Grace ™️ who is actually not this kind of insensitive person at all as we got to know her throughout the seasons.

the way trauma and grief were dealt with here was callous and unfair to Judd. The way Grace lashes out at him because she has needs too. even if he doesn't feel up to it. As if anyone under any circumstances is entitled to sex being attended to without it being 100% consensual. And to have this happen while she knows everything judd is going through is just soooo- it makes me want to shot my tv and scream. and i HATE that judd was actually very open with her because it just makes it even worse. He was honest with her about his very normal emotional and psychological wounds of this very traumatic grief and telling her he's out of sorts with his emotions and that it's not about her. yet she.. ugh

Hello! Okay so I stayed up way past my 22-year-old bedtime to finally binge the first three episodes last night in their entirety. And I have to say-- I loved it a lot more than i thought I would.

Let’s talk about the overall of the show first, and then I’ll get into my thoughts on Tarlos. 

Like Rob Lowe’s character in the first episode, I was confused as to why they would choose him, a very hot white guy, to head up a department desperately in need of diversity. And even when he calls them out on it, they totally side stepped the plot hole with a “uh you’re the guy for the job”. But Strand did win me over when he had a very serious conversation with the other hot fire guys about properly cleansing and moisturizing their faces. It’s kind of refreshing to see a very masculine, but also metrosexual dude as a main on TV. And they don’t make it a thing. Strand just really enjoys taking care of himself and I dig that. 

Also shoutout to the supporting cast, who is just as diverse as promised. From the episodes we’ve had so far, they’ve dealt most of their time focusing on Strand and Strand Jr, which is fine, but also quite a bit on Marjan, who’s become my favorite character. It’s not often we see a Muslim woman who is- well unapologetic and not that all conflicted about who she is as a person. She is loud and proud and badass. I dig the cases they’ve gone on, but my one big criticism is that I really think the dead/missing sister plot is tired and frankly very odd for the tone of the show. But I love Liv Tyler, so I’ll roll with it. 

Also-- the soundtrack is fucking bomb. 

And Tarlos. So I’m the first to admit that I had my reservations about Tarlos. I was resentful of the writers using them as a “here you go, now shut up” tool for Buddie Fans. I still am, but that’s a whole other discussion that I can get into if anyone is interested, but not on this post. But I really like how they are playing the Tarlos storyline. It’s very different than buddie. They are shown to have hooked up almost right away, but clearly TK is not in the right frame of mind to see Carlos as anything more than just a frustration outlet. And, dare I say it, Carlos is just what TK needs. He’s super calm and level-headed, but completely willing to put TK in his place as needed. He’s the calm voice reminding TK that not everything is about him.

And I have a good feeling that we will see that throughout the rest of the season-- Carlos being the good friend-but-sort-of-more-- and TK taking him for granted a bit. But then of course, it’s going to come to a head and Carlos is going to get a love interest for a hot sec and TK is going to lose his mind about it. we’ve already seen that boy dwell. (And when that happens, please god use Judd as the sounding board about his unrealized jealously. I’d pay to see that.)

But yes, obviously I have more specific thoughts that I can’t remember now, but feel free to ask or scream in my inbox about the whole thing. Also, because there are a couple of requests already, I’m currently thinking up a couple of drabble ideas.

Akaashi Keiji x Reader | Word Count: 1,119

As summer was dawning upon everyone it meant two things:

First being that the volleyball season came to an end so you had Akaashi all to yourself, which was amazing.

But the other was something less desiring, it being that the second meant exams for you all.

The exam stress hit you hard this year. Being in the college prep class for all your subjects really did take a toll on you, it was time consuming, more hard work than you expected and it was literally driving you to your death. Studying took up so much time, more than you’d like but it had to be done no matter how good sleeping felt.

It didn’t benefit you that Akaashi decided it was the best time to start taking you for dates. You loved the extra time and dates with Akaashi, you both shared busy lifestyles so when you finally had the time to embrace and bask in eachothers company you would both jump at it. The idea of being able to go out and do whatever you desired with your lover was a bliss, sometimes it would be a chilled coffee date and other times it would be something more outgoing like getting a train to some remote area and just exploring! (Despite that fact you often got lost and Akaashi had to chill you out) Neither of you two wanted it any other way. Unfortunately though all these outings began to affect your study schedule, causing you to be extremely paranoid and stressed over everything.

You really did appreciate everything he did though and made sure he knew that by going to everything planned, bundling in all your tension to show you cared. It just meant a lot of studying into the dark hours of the night, along with meal skips and lots of unorganisation. Your head was a mess constantly, a whirlwind of school destroying everything else inside. The only thing you could think about was the upcoming exams and Akaashi of course, but it was a struggle to juggle both.

It was currently 2am as you fished through all your papers trying to find your algebra sheets to begin working through. Your eyes stung with heaviness, your head wobbled as it screamed for you to sleep and your handwriting was completely not eligible by this point, it seemed more like a spider had written your answers for you. You couldn’t stop though, you had to get it all finished and ace all the exams you had and this was the only way to do it!

After a while more your legs were practically trembling with anxiousness and you began to feel extremely dizzy, you slowly lost control as everything went an ebony black and your body collided with your study desk causing a harsh thud.

Multiple texts and a few calls didn’t get through to you, it was currently 1pm and Akaashi hadn’t heard anything from you since mid-noon the previous day. He was completely worried for you and also scared he had done something wrong and seriously hurt you, he may have not knew how but he decided it was time to go over and see if you were actually ok.

Arriving at your house and using his extra key to enter he slowly began making his up to your room. He had called your name a few times but tk no avail, where were you? Had you gone out for the day? He was so confused by this point.

As he opened your door his stone like face contorted into an expression of hurt. To see you sprawled out acorss your desk, clearly uncomfortable, and in a room full of opened books and many test papers scattered everywhere made him feel like he had failed you,m. Had he truly not seen how stressed you had been?

Carefully, he began to pick you up and lay you down onto your bed, wrapping you up his arms and your blanket, dozing off himself after a few minutes.

You awoke and practically screamed when you looked at the time, 4pm! How could you waste a Saturday like this? A Saturday was for studying!

“Lay back down y/n, you should rest please and not worry about studying, the more you over do it the more you’ll forget in reality due to the stress.”

You snapped your head around to see Akaashi, he had woken up about half an hour ago and decided to clean your room, organising everything in hopes of clearing your head.

“But Keiji-“

“No buts, lay down, I’m going to join you in a second ok? I’m sorry this by the way, i feel like I probably should’ve considered how busy you have been with all the exams. I just wanted to really spend some time with you, not cause this, so I’m going to fix it by making you feel relaxed.” Everything he said was so sweet in his monotone voice and made you really think a out the situation.

Maybe you had over worked yourself a bit too much and deserved a break.

“Come here then” you replied, arms open wide inviting him in.

You spent hours upon hours cuddling, joking around and watching films, you felt as if all your stress from before had demolished and you could begin to study again with a clear mind, obviously not now though, all the love and affection Akaashi and you were sharing was all you needed and wanted right now.

By the end of the third film you both had destroyed all the snacks within the hiise premises and Akaashi was packing up to make his way home. You felt at ease and content with everything, the storm had disappeared and you were happy once more, all because of a little relaxation and actually quality time with Akaashi; no more of the stressing but smiling facade.

You squeezed him as if he was going to evaporate at any second, you had eventually said goodbye and watched him walk to the end of your drive before softly shutting the door.

Practically collapsing on your bed, you closed your eyes, not for long though as the vibration of your phone waded throughout your room,

‘Check your desk y/n, I’ve left something there which should hopefully help you out for the rest of exam season.”

You peered over at your desk, eyes scanning it until they slowly fell onto a timetable that was neatly placed in the corner. The timetable gave you structural way to tackle the exam studying and stress, giving you enough space to truly breath and it even had a little slot for the both of you to have a date.

All throughout the goal-tending has been fantastic by both Greiss and Varly. Even without Matt Martin, Cizikas and Clutterbuck combined to have an outstanding week. On defense, Adam Pelech is playing like a top d-man. Avs start a Western Canadian Road trip this week and look to keep the momentum from the last couple games. First up a big 4 point game in Winnipeg on Tuesday. Calder Watch: Makar had an insane week, with points in all three games a 3 point night and a 2 goal game with his first GWG. While he's still getting points, he doesn't look like himself and his turnovers and defensive game make him feel like a liability at times. This one was tough and really showed how young this team is, but a game like this was necessary. Next, we bounced back against the Wings by winning solidly 5-1. The next day, we got to see vintage Hank against the Canes. Even though we got outshot 47-19, we somehow walked out with a 4-2 win. To cap off the week, we had a shooting gallery of a game against the Panthers, falling 6-5 in the shootout. Some positives to come out of the week were that the kids are finally catching their stride and really developing. Kakko, Chytil, and Fox have looked great the past few games. Lindgren also deserves a shoutout for his play lately. Strome continues to put up points as well. I’m honestly confused about this “sudden increase” in taekook content. yes i’ve seen all the ones that’s been mentioned, but to be honest, there were equal amounts of taekook content at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020. taekook during mama were sitting next to each other in the audience and there was a lot of hair touching, chin touching and they were being silly together with the crowd and it was super cute. there was also the famous gda cuddle and the grammies red carpet walk. then there were the interviews during On in america where yes, once again, there was a lot of tae and kook sitting next to each other and touching. prior to the recent “surge” in oct/nov/dec or whenever people think they started, they were pretty touchy during the dynamite promo times and people also said they were touchy during ITS. 

what i’m saying is that taekook content has ALWAYS been there, i’m not sure if people just didn’t take note of them or they didn’t focus on them. this TK being hidden thing is a complete fabrication by one taekook lives and their whole community has run with it because it helps them to continue believing in their ship. she started her channel exactly days after gcf-t came out. hence the taekook is hidden story is born because it’s hard to dispute a relationship (whether it’s friends or more) that is right in your face. 

Also, there HAS been a lot of taekook during performances too, tae putting his arm around jk’s waist during that first verse of dynamite and then them shaking hands multiple times. i’m pretty sure the taekookers were very happy with those. they were also over the moon with the “look” taekook gave each other during LGO in i think MAMA? so taekook HAS been fanservicing during performances too. they also did the same for bwl during concerts. this is not a new thing. 

re. run, one of my recent favourite clips from run is from the behind of 119 i think where jm was telling jk he was going to make the person who comes last climb achasan (which to bts, remains the worst possible punishment) if he wins. and then they had a good old laugh about it with full chest slapping and jumping out of seats. and this is a clip that, to me, means more than any selfies that were taken throughout the episode because it shows connection. this is how i imagine they talk to each other on a day to day basis. and there has been a lot of other jikook moments too in “behind the scenes” stuff, like seasons greeting, and a few of their interviews recently had jikook going on in it to. 

to me nothing has really changed in regards to jikook. this year, jimin and jungkook has said so many things that had me raising my eyebrows. yes they’re not as gif-able as a backhug or a leg rub but they’ve certainly been pretty loud this year. 

does big hit have an agenda? sure, they will sell any “ship” between any two members of bts. but what they sell most of all is OT7. 

The fact that jikook is being pushed during performances kinda stresses me out and would rather they didn’t. The reason I say this is because the only jikook content we’ve been getting recently is during performances, which is choreographed. (not including run, because there’s really nothing of substance there recently, I know 122 but still wasn’t much, even though they were on the same team. jk being satellite jeon, but in general jk was focused, jm messed around with Yoongi and Jin, & vice versa but they were both more into doing their task of directing yj

The main reason and adding onto my first point is that it helps fuel the ‘jikook is fanservice’ and I’ve seen it be used ALOT recently, like a lot a lot and I can’t exactly hate them for saying that (unless they’re being extremely toxic while saying it) because while jm and jk’s relationship is NOT fanservice, they are pretty central during performances recently. I’m also tired of dynamite nan nanana, vm always changes their opening section, very rarely does jikook change theirs, and when they do they just look at each other when the other is doing a little dance, but it’s one or the other. It’s very noticeable, even my best friend who’s not a shipper has said “big hit be pushing two big ships covid must be giving big hit a hit, gotta use those money makers” she said it jokingly but she was serious about the pushing part, she also doesn’t know I’m a jikooker. Anon who said increase in tk content is right, but not for interviews or carpet, because what kind of ‘content’ is that?? Not even the break the silence commentary because everyone in the middle were cuddling, tj, even ji/h the most. But runs? Yeah, in a way. The most obvious one: Big hit cuts out jikook’s ‘guess the dance’ by touch in run 117, which I found a little fanservicy as a whole, it was just weird. But anyways, they straight up cut out jikook and focused on jin’s face for no reason, he has a very handsome face but it’s not what the game is about, cut out the 20sec then give us a photo. I’ve read people say that jikook may not want it filmed, but I don’t think they would be okay with big hit using a photo of it. Same with run 97, napping). Also they had no problem with the bouncy hug in memories 2019 which was wild. So I doubt ‘jikook doesn’t want it shown’ is a valid excuse for those two episodes

Cont’ 117 Big hit leaves in all the others and show tk’s x2 additionally in 116 they went with the little hearts in the editor caption with talking about tk. I don’t believe everything that has been happening recently is not deliberate. We’re okay seeing jikook onstage, dynamite we find it cute, and we believe that they’re doing so for a reason, the possibly they are actually together and they’re slowly trying to show so to speak. And at the same time tkkers want tk offstage, main example be-hind story. because of their ‘big hit is hiding tk’ agenda they feel validated when they get their offstage content because they believe it’s on tk’s terms, hence the tk live$ video that one anon mentioned. It’s a win win for big hit, but it’s going to bite them in the ass sooner or later. But at the end of the day this is just my own opinions, pretty long ones though. Sorry!

We watched jikook choreo their two little duet spots in Dynamite. The dynanana part no matter how much we see it still is far more satisfying to a shipper than any hand slap or look TK throw into their intro. Many of us say jikook ship themselves and the choices they made in Dynamite fuel that idea. It was fanservicey type stuff that they willing and happily put into their content.

Run (and anything else)...watch the background to find jikookery. It’s the stuff the editors don’t comment on that is sometimes most compelling. And we don’t know why some jikook stuff is cut, but I’m not willing to dismiss the guys not wanting it in at times. Yes stills can be revealing but sometimes videos that should be innocent hit in unintended ways. Like the Run ep below.

BigHit hiding TK is a fantasy at this point . TK said with their own mouths they aren’t hanging out as much after work.

Jimin has said with his mouth that he does see Jungkook after work and Jungkook did not dispute that at all.

So until Tae and JK start talking about their after work time together nothing is validated for TK. It’s still all a fan narrative.

At the end of the day people can ship who they want how they want, but I think when you have to trash a member to propel your ship content then you’ve crossed a line.
