ok i won't go too far into it, but can i just say how grateful i am, as an autistic girl, that mariah is so open about her autism? like it might seem like such a small thing -- making a joke here and there, posting stuff on her instagram story -- but it's so validating to see someone you're inspired by be open and proud of being autistic. i want to be an actor, and i've always been scared that my social issues, sensory problems, etc would get in the way of my dream. it's just so awesome to see someone like me, doing what i want to do. when people say representation matters, they're for real :D

tapping the sign that says: IF the confession / dean reciprocating is going to be something further explored in the revival then jensen / anyone involved cannot make definitive statements abt dean's feelings or destiel's reunion until it's actually shown. it would be spoiling future arcs or getting ppl's hopes up for a specific outcome that they don't have the authority to promise yet.

of course jensen is going to continue to give vague / deflecting answers. the only thing they CAN canonically speak on IS the confession because that's what's already happened. jensen can also speak on his acting choices in that scene, like how he's previous talked about where dean's headspace was at when he was sitting on the dungeon floor after.

but they literally can't be making Official Statements abt if dean reciprocates or how their reunion will play out bc we likely will be seeing that on screen and to speculate or talk abt it would potentially spoil what they're planning (since the revival at this point is pretty much a WHEN not IF scenario)

Huh, I didn't even realize it'd been a year since BG3 came out until I opened tumblr this morning. Kinda wild. I didn't think much of the game's release: I like Larian's games, and I like the BG series. I wasn't ever going to skip the game, but I didn't think I'd play it at launch because I was busy working on a novel in 2023 and not doing well financially.

Thankfully, circumstances left me with a little bit of extra money last year just before launch and it meant I could spend on a video game. I needed a pick-me-up after said 2023 novel failed to go anywhere, and BG3 was right there. Like most CRPGs, I played it in basically every moment of free time that I had and did as much as I possibly could in one playthrough.

It's so odd how these small happenstances can snowball into coming back to fandom, finding some friends I might've never met otherwise, and writing a lot of fanfiction along the way. I'll probably have something more interesting to say/share when it's the 14th, AKA when I sat down and wrote my first fic for this fandom.

Anyways, it's been a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to more years to come 💜

#random fandom thoughts #there's a fair few tidbits about that first fic that will be more fun to share on the 14th #but there's some fun facts about the early parts of my first playthrough:#Asheera killed Us because the player thought it was going to be a hostile intellect devourer and didn't want to deal with that at lvl1 lol #It took me several hours to recruit Gale because I didn't want to interact with the glowing portal until I was “ready”#I (the player) sent Barcus flying at first because I have a very silly sense of humor #I did reload that one because Asheera wouldn't BUT I was satisfied #and finally the one that is always entertaining considering how things ended up #I originally thought nothing of Shadowheart and didn't go into the game with any idea about romance or the companions whatsoever #all I noticed about her was that she wore Sharran symbols everywhere but tried to hide her faith #then she tried the most miserable attempt at manipulation I've ever seen in my life (when she tests you about Raphael's deal)#and she exposed herself as the Worst Sharran Possible #then came her confession of her faith and I knew something special was happening #the confession sounds so robotic and prewritten almost like it's from a canned speech she's practiced and rehearsed #and sounds more like regurgitation and being Told what to believe rather than an impassioned plea borne of bone-deep faith #the sudden shift in her tone had me thinking: “this is either atrocious character writing or fantastic characterization”#and lo and behold #anyways if you've read this far then bg3 is a very special thing for me and I love getting to create for the fandom

The worst part about reading in a genre where you have low expectations (in this case, Christian historical fiction) is that when a book impresses you, you have no idea if it's actually good or if you're just overly impressed because it was a fraction of a degree better than the usual garbage.

#basically lately anytime i read a christian fiction book that isn't romance-based i find myself surprised by the quality #i do think that some christian publishers are getting better #and trying to tell stories that dig deeper into real faith and messy issues #instead of making only vapid squeaky clean prayer-filled tropefests #but i'm not sure *how much* better #because anything above the low bar feels like great literature #the most recent is 'in a far-off land' by stephanie landsem #and let me tell you setting the prodigal son in 1930s hollywood is a genius concept #i have some issues with the history and the mystery #but the characters!#it has been a long time since i cried this hard over a book #several chapters of solid waterworks #(and i also have the issue of figuring out if it's actually that moving or if i'm just hormonal/sleep-deprived)#i keep thinking about this book but also i worry about recommending because what if it's actually terrible by normal book standards?#(also the author DOES NOT understand the seal of confession and i was SHOCKED to find that she's actually catholic)#but also looking at the reviews makes it clear that if most of christian fiction is vapid garbage it's these reviewers' fault #here you have something that's digging into sin and darkness and justice and mercy and these people are just #'how can it call itself christian fiction if it only mentions god at the end?'#are we reading the same book this WHOLE THING is about god! and humanity and our fallen nature and how this breaks relationships!#your pearl-clutching anytime someone tries to get even a tiny bit realistic is destroying this genre #i'm gonna run out of tags so i'll stop now
