I am always looking for homes for normal people who can't afford millions, and it's crazy to see what's available and where. This is a questionable value - an 1883 Victorian in Alma, MI. It has 6bds, 4ba, asking $375K. It's a little weird, though.
Tumblr media
Firstly, I don't know what they did to the beautiful original Victorian porch, b/c this brick wall, cement, and modern beams ain't it.
Tumblr media
I don't know how they got such light wood. It looks original, but did they have it bleached and redone with oak stain? The new flooring has a weird inlaid pattern. I hate this entrance hall.
Tumblr media
Definitely the original stairs.
Tumblr media
There's a nice fireplace. This was once an elegant entrance hall.
Tumblr media
So, they have a dining room.
Tumblr media
This room is loaded with stuff, including an old fridge.
Tumblr media
Okay, they've got a sitting room here.
Tumblr media
And, the 2nd sitting room is also off the main hall, but they look modernized with gray paint. I don't see the fireplaces, either.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What did they do to this kitchen? I can't even talk about it. Glass block backsplash in a Victorian. Tile floors.
Tumblr media
This must be the old service stairs.
Tumblr media
The hall is so narrow and it's modernized. I wonder if the dark molding is original. The doors are original.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uh, these 2 rooms look like good sizes, there's certainly a lot of stuff in them, and the pink one is in the turret.
Tumblr media
This room is being used as the primary bedroom.
Tumblr media
The bath was completely renovated. I hate it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bedrooms 4 & 5.
Tumblr media
Oh, what did they do to the turret in here, w/that ceiling. They've got the home on all the flat screens b/c I guess they think it's beautiful.
Tumblr media
The entrance to the attic- there's a counter for a mini fridge and you can also have toast.
Tumblr media
The finished attic. I guess this can't be counted as a bedroom.
Tumblr media
Or maybe it's this one that can't be counted. But, how cool is this? It's at the top of the turret.
Tumblr media
There's a shower room up here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the basement, they have a bar. Geez, there's the house again on the TVs.
Tumblr media
More screens w/the house.
Tumblr media
I hope that guests don't have to pass this on the way to the bar.
Tumblr media
The house is on a .25 acre lot. Truthfully, I think they ruined it. It's not much of a Victorian, anymore. Zillow says it's worth $360K, but I don't know if I would want it.

Part III: The weekend service - its start
After his release from the dungeon and the humiliating complete shave of his head and eyebrows, Ben, full of shame to be seen like this, stayed at home and took a day off at office. Not feeling good, he lied on the phone.
Far too soon, Friday came and passed and 6 pm was nearing. Ben considered not to go back for the threatening „service weekend“. On the other hand he was curious about what was to come. And thinking about it, he got incredibly horny. But his cock was closed up in a metal cage which made pissing quite difficult and jerking off impossible.
At last his curiosity won the better of him and he put on the bleachers, boots, leather shirt and ma1 bomber jacket he was given after his shave. He went to the apartment block of Alpha skin on a run because it was getting close to 6 pm.
The skin boy, who shaved him yesterday, was waiting for him. „Better hurry up, bro, he will get very angry if you are too late“ he called out and dragged Ben inside. They went down the stairs to the cellar but instead of entering the dungeon, Ben already knew, they turned left and started to go down a long corridor until they reached a huge metal door which was lockes with two huge metal levers. Skin boy moved them and the door swung open. Ben was tossed inside and the door was closed from outside. Ben whirled round, but it was too late. Inside it was pitch black and silent.
Ben stood there for a moment, unable to move. Then he started to stretch out his hands to explore the unknown room. The air was gently warm and dry. He soon reached a brick wall and turned to the other side. Then he heared a move next to him, his hand touched cloth and he cried out with surprise. A gloved hand closed his mouth, he was roughly pinned to the brick wall and a well known, demanding voice said „Silence, fag.“
Alpha skin was waiting for him.
Soon a cellar lamp was lit and Ben could see a big room with three doors, the one he was shoved in and two other doors, all closed. There was a table and comfortable chairs. Bolts on the floor and in the walls. Threatening bolts. A rather small iron cage in one of the rooms corners. A leathered rack on four legs with slings to fix you. Cuffs and chains on the wall. Iron bars with locks.
And HIM.
Alpha skin was wearing an Injector III bomber jacket in woodland camo, a leather shirt, combat pants in matching camo, leather gloves and his 30 hole ranges which were rather muddy and soiled. He let Ben go and smiled.
„Welcome for your first service weekend“, he said. „We will receive some guests later and they will use you as they like. So we have to prepare you well.“
Suddenly the skin boy was in the room, standing behind Ben. Quickly he brought Bens arms on his back and cuffed him. He then knelt down and fixed iron locks with a short chain around Ben´s ankles and unceremoniously bend him over the table. The back zipper of his bleachers were opened. Ben felt a hand at his hole applying some oily liquid. Then he felt that something was inserted in his hole and soon enough warm water gushed inside him. He cried out in pain and astonishment.
Alpha skin stood in front of him and hit him hard in the face. „Press your butt cheeks together, fag, and don´t loose anything of it.“ A second gush was inserted and then Ben was dragged to one of the doors, which was opened quickly. It was a bathroom and Ben was thrown on the toilet seat. He let go and all the water came out, cleaning his rectum.
After having finished he was dragged out again and Alpha skin fixed a leather collar with a leash around his neck. Ben was dragged in front of one of the chairs and pressed down on his knees. Then the skin boy fixed the leash at a bolt in the concrete floor. Bens possibilities to move were quite restricted now.
He knelt on the floor and waited, anxious about what was to come but at the same time horny as he never was before. Alpha skin sat down in the chair and the skin boy brought him a drink and a cigar and lit it. Alpha skin took some draws, inhaled the smoke deeply and blew it in the direction of Ben. He stretched out his feet and Ben came close to the end of Alpha skins boots. Alpha skin started to kick Ben, first gently, soon harder, and tried to knock him over. Ben tried not to loose his balance which was quite difficult. The skin boy laughed.
„Silence“ shouted Alpha skin. „Don´t think that your advancement in our brotherhood gives you the right to talk or laugh as you like. Understood?“
„Sir, yes my Master, Sir“, spluttered the skin boy. „Sir, please punish me if you like, Sir“, he added.
„We´ll see later to this“, shouted Alpha skin angrily, „now get out you dirty cum and prepare everything for our guests“.
„Sir, yes my Master, Sir“, spluttered the skin boy again and left the room.
„As we are talking about preparations for our guests“ said Alpha skin and eyed up Ben, „you will have recognized that my boots are in a bad condition. „As a host they have to be shiny. See to it, fag“ he barked at Ben.
Tumblr media
„Sir, yes, Sir, but were can I find shoe polish to clean them? Sir?“
Alpha skin laughed humorless and cold. He kicked Ben in his face and Bens eyes filled with tears. „Bloody fag, with your spit and tonge. Now move“, another blow.
Ben trembled. He started to lick the tip of one of the boots. „Faster. And don´t you dare to miss a spot.“ Alpha skin bent forward and hit Ben in his face.
To avoid more kicking and hitting Ben started to work on the boots and cleaned out first both soles and then the boots up to their end. It was a disgusting and dirty work. Soon his tongue got sore and he had to swallow down the dirt which he had to lick from the boots. Alpha skin sat comforatbly in the chair, smoking and dringing and he groaned with pleasure.
At last Ben thought that he had done it. He looked up to his Master. „Sir, I think they are ready for your guests. Sir?“
Alpha skin put down his drink and the cigar. He looked at his boots. Then he grabbed Bens head, shook him and gave him several quick blows. Ben cried out in agony. „You call that clean, dirty faggot? Do it again, all over, Now.“ Ben received more hard pushes with the boots. Hurridly he restarted his work to stop the kicking.
On it went. Four times he had to clean the boots until Alpha skin was satisfied. He received a final hard blow and then some water which he drank greedily. Panting he sank to the floor, Alpha skin standing over him. He gave Ben another kick in the ribs. Ben groaned.
„Where is your obedience?“ shouted Alpha skin. „You received water and you are not grateful for it.“ Ben received anothe kick in his side and he bend over in pain.
„Sir, Master, thank you, forgive me, Sir“ he cried out.
Alpha skin dragged Ben to his feet. He stared hard at him. Out of nothing he had a rubber ball gag in his hands and put it roughly into Bens mouth. Then he fixed it around Bens neck so that Ben could not remove it.
„I´ll silence you now. There is some time left until my guests will arrive and you will be presented to them. Don´t talk to them, don´t look at them. You are scum for them, faggot. We will call you scumfag from now on. And you will adress them as Sir or Master, when you are allowed to speak to them. For now, in here.“
Alpha skin dragged Ben to the cage in the corner of the room. Some hard and well placed kicks forced Ben inside. Then he locked the cage.
Ben could not stay inside, only kneel or lay with tightened legs. He still was cuffed and now gagged. Every inch of his body was aching. He wondered what would come next. Then he realised that his dick was again hard as rock. It was aching in ist cage. Double caged, Ben thought.
He heared Alpha skin open one of the doors. „Come here and kneel down“ he shouted. Then Ben heared some thrashing and yells of pain, which soon were muffled by another gag. Ben knew, the skin boy was punished for his disobedience.

another import from the accursèd bird app, and completely unedited, as per usual
-
Lance had always had an odd sense. He just knew sometimes. It had started as soon as he could talk. His family got used to it and believed him every time. His friends didn't, not at first. But eventually they all did, even the more skeptical ones in college. They would all have their "event" that would prove it.
Dragging someone across the playground just before an unattended car rolled through the fence right where his friend would have been, taking a different path to class only to prevent another friend from being pushed down the stairs, and then in high school when he yanked his two best friends back from being crushed by heavy scenery in the school theatre seconds before it fell. Telling a friend in college to take a turn where they wouldn't normally, only to avoid an accident at the next light. He never found an explanation for this sense, he just had it.
One afternoon, Lance was walking toward the subway station after work. That sense tingled, telling him to take the long way around. It was a beautiful early autumn day, and he took a turn down a quiet side street, lined with old brick houses built one on top of the other, maple trees dotting the sidewalk and just beginning to turn red and gold. It wasn't an area for heavy foot traffic, and he wasn't surprised to not meet anyone. He even still early for his train despite the detour.
Lance wouldn't have looked back, except for that feeling telling him he should. Emergency vehicles blocked the street, a snarling man was pinned to the asphalt, bloody knife laying several feet away, while the stabbing victim was loaded into a waiting ambulance. If the attack was random, that would have been him in the ambulance. He felt for the actual victim, he always did, but it was overshadowed by a sense of relief that it wasn't him.
Later, on the train home, he got a feeling of having been watched, but shook it off. There were a lot of people who'd stopped to watch. It was when he was falling asleep on his couch to the drone of the tv that he bolted upright, remembering someone small and unobtrusive, with round glasses and wild honey blond hair. They were across the street from him, facing not the mess of the aftermath, but him. It was unnerving, but hours past, and he decided to ignore it.
Three days later, Lance was out running a few errands when he got the feeling again. He waited beside the shop door instead of stepping out into the parking lot, just missing the elderly driver stomping on the gas instead of the brake and crashing into the potted bushes that separated the shop from the one next door.
He'd always help when he could, and called emergency services while making sure the driver wasn't hurt - she was fine, just shaken - and he waited until they were on their way to the hospital before resuming his day. Several people had stopped to either help or check if they were needed, and Lance hadn't realized that one of those people, a tall, broad guy - the orange headband stood out - hovered at the back of the crowd far longer than anyone else.
After that, Lance started paying more attention to the people around him when his sense went off. The next time was in his office building, he took the stairs down instead of the elevator, the doors stuck on the first floor with the car stuck halfway. This time it was a different guy, taller than the last one, with a white streak in his hair and a prominent scar across his nose, who sat in the reception area, watching as Lance was able to get the single person in the elevator safely to the floor while maintenance was still on the way.
The next incident left him shaken. The days were getting shorter, and it was past dark when he turned down the street his apartment building sat on. Halfway down the block, he felt the familiar tingle, and slowed down accordingly. A muffled shout caught his attention, and he looked down an alley just in time to see the streetlight reflect off the barrel of a gun.
Without thinking, he ran in, disarming the gun's wielder with the kickboxing he hadn't done in years but still remembered. Stunned, the attacker laid on the pavement while their near-victim called for help. There was no crowd this time, and his watcher was far more obvious, despite her trying to look like she was just passing by. Pure white hair sparkled in the yellow light of the streetlamps, bright blue eyes fixed on him and him alone.
The attacker was taken away and the victim refused a trip to the ER, leaving Lance to finally head home in a daze. He was surprised at his own actions, that was a fucking gun for fuck's sake, not to mention the kickboxing he thought he;d forgotten. But that girl wasn't there by accident. None of them had been, he realized. They couldn't be. But why. Why were they watching him, and only turning up when something happened? His sense would go off again, it always did, but this time he'd be ready.
Three days later, it happened again. No one was hurt, but the subway train he usually took was offline that day due to a failure on the rail. Fortunately, there was a metro rail that ran close enough to his office, and he was just in time to catch it.
The trip itself was blissfully uneventful, it was when he got off with dozens of other people that he felt it. Looking up, Lance saw the sparks from the electrical lines that ran some of the city's buses. He yelled, loud enough to get plenty of attention, people startled into listening. He cleared the immediate area just before the line crackled, showering the road with white hot flaming sparks.
The road was shut down, transit maintenance arriving to investigate the cause and make notes for repairs, all of which took enough time for the crowds to disperse. But Lance stayed, knowing that someone would be watching him from a distance.
He scanned the area, spotting that day's person. Roughly his height, maybe a bit shorter, black hair, pale skin, startling violet eyes that stared right at him. Lance waited until this latest person saw him staring right back. The new guy smiled to himself, and walked over.
"There you are," he said.
"You've been watching me," Lance answered, "Why?"
"Because. You belong with us."
Lance knew it was true. Whoever these people were, his place was with them.
"We can help. Gift like yours isn't all that rare, but the way you feel it, that is unusual. Come with us, we'll show you what you can really do."
That was a very tempting offer, but… "What about work? I think my office will notice I'm missing?"
"Already taken care of. Nothing bad, don't worry, but you're free to join us without worrying about anything."
Oddly, Lance wasn't worried. But he was curious. "Who are you guys anyway?"
He smiled. "The Witches of Voltron."
Lance immediately felt safer than he ever had. The tingle flared, but instead of a warning, it was an odd sense of familiarity. He knew this was where he belonged. Without question. He nodded, stepping closer to wherever this witch would lead him.
"I'm Keith, by the way."
Lance nodded. "I think I already knew that."
Keith laughed, shaking his head. "Of course you did."
"What does that mean?"
"You'll find out."

Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Summary:
A glimpse into a slow day at Top Gun, complete with minor inconveniences and lonely wallowing, hurray!
Notes:
This is my first real attempt at a long fic, and trying to come up with a story. This chapter was started over *checks notes* 267 days ago.... I've spent that past (almost) year reading RoosterForMe fics on tumblr and trying wrangle a similar vibe for this. If you want to read *chef's kiss* TG:M fics I cannot recommend her works enough. <3<3<3
Tuesday morning, 10th June.
Laundry, and sweeping. Groceries-MILK and creamer
I was writing my day plans out, my coffee getting colder next to me. Scribbling in the dates of upcoming appointments and services. My pen settled on the square for Saturday, scribbled in hasty pencil marks was ‘Dinner w/ Kazansky, Kans. Barbeque’.
This would be fine, it wasn’t going to suck. Barbeque is good, and therefore things around barbeque are also good.
“That’s a normal thing to think,” I mumbled to myself, taking a sip of coffee. It wasn’t that I didn’t enjoy being around other people, quite the opposite.
It’s fine, no one would look at an archivist and assume they’re a party animal. Tom seemed to enjoy my company, he somehow made it easier to talk to him. Like he understood when to give me space to talk, not bowling me over to finish what I was saying.
I stowed my journal in my backpack and set out to work. Stopping by my door to plop my basil plant outside.
“Bye, Boski Boo!” I hollered at the small aquarium in the living room before shutting the door.
I drove up to the MA at the base’s gate, holding out my ID, and sliding my bag to the front to let him check it. The ammunition pouches on his kevlar vest sagged inward without clips to hold them open, but the clip in his gun kept the impression that he very much would shoot me if he had to. I drove past him, continuing down a road leading along the edge of base. Despite working here for almost a year I had rarely seen further into the base, my clearance only allowing me a few blocks in. But, I still got to see the buzz of military life in the distance. I had started getting used to the sound of aircraft zipping overhead and buzzing buildings when they came in to land. Although it made calling people while on base a nightmare with jet engines often drowning out both ends of the line.
I hopped out of my car slinging my bag over my shoulder. The brick building stood in the middle of a perfectly kept green, the paved paths clean and swept. As I walked up the path I remembered my first week here, I would cut the corner and step across the grass. Finally I noticed each time I did a sailor would wince or grimace to themselves. One finally told me they’d had it beaten into them to Never EVER walk on the grass. Apparently one of the Officers liked to make sailors who broke that rule crawl on all fours on the grass next to the paved path.
The doors to the archival building stuck as I moved inside, the sea air eating away at the metal. I waved quickly at the receptionist (Katy?) making a b-line for my office. I pushed the power switch on my computer and set about emptying my bag while it booted up. Digging through the mail for any updates on requested materials and orders for copies.
...
Stacking file-boxes full of newly printed copies, I pushed through my office door towards the archives. Walking down the aisles, carefully returning the cassettes to their boxes along with their CD copies. I’d finished up the day after Tom came by. I'd spent the rest of that day thinking about him sitting quietly, flipping through manila folders. ___
I sat clicking my pen, glancing up at Tom through the open doors. His head was bowed, nose almost touching the papers he was looking at. Leaning on his forearms, his hands cradling his head.
“We have magnifying glasses if you need one,” I softly called out. Tom's head popped up, still hunched over the paper.
“That'd be great, thank you.” He pushed up and rubbed at his eyes. I pulled open a desk drawer, grabbed what I needed and headed over.
“I'm surprised you don't need glasses,” I joked, handing him the magnifying glass.
“Hm. Not yet, but I don't doubt that grandpa reading glasses are in my future.” The mental image of Tom with glasses popped into my head. Oh. That's not bad at all…Maybe he's a horn-rimmed glasses guy, maybe more classic chic,
....
Okay, she's definitely thinking about me in glasses, now. I had no intent on telling her the grandpa glasses were fully in use already. Thankfully I'd only ruined my near sight from shoving my nose in books all day. I'm not sure I could survive Mav knowing I need glasses.
“I'm sure you'll look very distinguished when the day comes.” I felt her hand land on my shoulder before she walked away. Back through the two doorways to sit behind her desk. My face a little warm at the thought of someone finding my glasses attractive
My eyes dropped down to the papers in front of me. A-5 Vigilante variable geometry and their wind tunnel results. My brain goes back to running its two trains of thought. Half of my mind was focusing on the words, the other half combing through ideas to get her to come back over. I cleared my throat, leaning towards the doorway.
“There's one configuration for the A-5 that's an almost wingless design..” ___
The quiet of the archival room pressed against my ears. Layers of paper and cardboard softening the outside world as it slips through the roof and chatters along the metal I-beams.
“Weh, Wil, WILLIAMS! James E.,” my shout of triumph cut through the silence like a knife careening through a window. Pulling down the box I gently laid the cassettes and CDs onto a new cardboard divider and closed the box. My eyes cast around the large, quiet room as I gathered up the box to put it away. The desk by the door, the foldout steel chair looking morose and empty. He’d even pushed it back in. The magnifying glass neatly tucked against the wall. I hadn't had anyone come into records just to read for leisure in a few months. Mostly older sailors coming in on a slow day to peruse photographs and battle plans. I huffed and pushed the box onto the shelf and headed back to my office.
My open notebook caught my attention as I sat back down, Dinner w/ Tom circled in red on the 14th. The day before catching my eye, Friday 13th, making me smile. If I made it through that BBQ would be a nice reward for not getting murdered.
“Lieutenant Kazansky to tower, pre-flight checklist complete, awaiting orders.”
“Acknowledged, await further instructions,” the operator’s voice took on a less professional tone as she continued, “Get comfy, Ice, the engineers are still checking the runway for debris.” A jet had come in after hitting some birds and had left some nasty gifts for the ground crews, no one was injured thankfully. I shoved my head back as much as the crowded cockpit would let me. I'd gladly spend all day in my jet but for God's sake usually I was flying. I felt Slider jostle around behind me as he sat forward in his seat.
“Since we have some time to ourselves, let me tell you about that blonde, Rachel,” Slider said, his mask clunking against my chair.
“Is this the dumb one or the pretty dumb one?” I joked, remembering the two from last week. We'd gone to a bar far enough off base that the girls were excited to see a pilot but not total tag chasers. Slider had spent the night with a blonde on each arm like he was weighing his decision on who to stick with me. He was a hell of a RIO, and a decent wingman. Meaning he'd figure out fast if I wanted a girl that night and happily take home both if I didn't.
“Ha-Ha. Condescending laugh. She was plenty smart, works as a receptionist for some big company. Likes old planes. Anyway, she's got a friend, a stewardesses, coming in to visit next week who just adores the strong silent type. Said she'd love to set you up on a double date with us.”
“She sounds less like a hit it and quit it and more like a date, Slider,” I joked. He huffed and sat back in his seat. I waited for him to say some snappy comeback.
“Slider?...She was a one nighter, right?”
“...”
“Oh-ho-ho, Cupid landed a shot last night? That's great Slide, why the hell'd ya keep it from me?” Slider wasn't some chauvinistic prick who'd rather die than say he gets the warm fuzzies.
“Well, she was, a one night, ya'know. I spent the night-,” “Nice.” “I was going to head back home but she offered to order some food and we started talking. Then in the morning she said there was a nice brunch place on the way back to the bar. Her car is cool too, shitty driver though. It just kinda smacked into me, she's so cool, man. I was like some dopey highschooler, cracking jokes and being terrified I'd annoy her somehow.”
“You? Annoy someone? Impossible, you only chew all your pencils and think out loud, have awful hygiene…” I joked, Slider pushing against my chair, before continuing. “I'd love to meet her, blind double date be damned.”
“Tower to Lieutenants, clear to proceed to the runway.”
This sucked. Okay not suck-sucks, but I was getting tired of this E-3 and his adherence to Not Helping Me. The wobbly stool was not helping me either, threatening to tip over as I grabbed boxes from the top shelf. He had been courteous when he’d told me what he needed from the archives, though his kindness ended there. Letting me climb up and down to retrieve the hefty boxes.
“Why weren’t you given a ladder? Shouldn’t there be a ladder just for this room?” he asked, shifting the boxes next to him with his foot. He reached up and steadied my back as I climbed down.
“No, there isn’t. The building flooded a few years back and it rusted. Now, we have stools.” I dusted down my shirt and took the box from him. “S’That everything? Good.” GET OUT. He pulled a smile and lead the way out. Catching the door with his shoulder and nodding me past.
I dropped the box I was holding in his arms (probably harder than I should given the contents), pulled a smile, and went to my office. “Thank you, Ma'm. I'll be sure to get these back to you, all papers present.” He flashed a grin and adjusted the boxes to keep them stacked.
“Hope this isn’t the only trip you take over here,” the receptionist, (Katy, no Kathy?) said, pushing her chair back to get the main doors.
“Oh, I don’t think my CO will ever stop sending me here, ‘course you could always come see me.”
I pulled my door closed to avoid hearing them flirt. Kathy (I’ve decided that had to be it) liked uniforms more than the person in them, always chasing around the sailors who’d recently been stationed here. I sat back in my chair with a sigh, trying to calm myself. I shouldn’t be upset. That E-3 wasn’t doing anything wrong. I had no real reason to be annoyed with him. A small flush of guilt spread up my neck. I hated being mad, I hated losing control over myself, I hated how people treated me like a child when I got upset. I blew out a breath, leaned forward, and started typing in the logged out materials.
My keys slid into the lock as I shoved my body weight against it. I dropped my bag inside the door, and scooped up my basil plant. The door clicked shut behind me, shutting out the last bit of light. The light of Boski’s tank barely lit up the room as I walked over to him. Boski, my comet goldfish, stared in my general direction from his tank as he swam slowly around. I watched with a small smile as he passed under the sign I hung above his cave, “Lord Byron Boksilous the Spacious”.
“Well, Boski-nova, I had a very boring day, I don’t know how you manage.” I sat down on the floor then let my body fall flat on the carpet. I really did like this job, the hours were fine, pay was decent. My dad had told me stories about how good it was to be contracted by the military in some way. While I wasn’t directly contracted I still had nice benefits.
“Only reason they're so good is no one else is there. It’s one of the largest on base repositories and they hired one person, Boski.” The hand I had raised to make my point clear to Boski flopped down beside me.
“One, angry, lonely person…” Drowning in a little pity pool sounded like a good ending to this day. I layed there watching the reflections of the tank on the walls.
My truck's engine rumbled against my back as I stood across from Cary in some hotel parking lot. I’d driven her back after Slider went home with Rachel again, leaving Cary to get a cab. She’d hesitantly accepted my offer to drive her and I’d spent the whole time salvaging my image. It'd been a rocky start to our double date. I spent a good while getting back into the swing of flirting. Cary’d spent the date flicking her attention from me to the first round college game over my shoulder. Slider was right, the two women did enjoy aviation talk. We'd regaled them with training tales and finished with our great tale of flying with Mav, I embellished his prowess for the night, no use adding to his reputation. Now, she stood a few feet away smoking under a half-alive lamppost, the sickly green light making her dress look a weird ocean blue.
“Are you leaving or do you wanna come up?” She’d been smoking in silence for so long I jumped a little. Her eyes were locked on me, her expression was fixed between boredom and bedroom eyes. Or just tired. She’d told me how little sleep she got when she worked, catching a few hours in a cramped hotel room with three other girls. I weighed my options, the evening was awkward and she wasn’t as nice as Rachel was. She wasn’t bratty, she just didn’t care to work around feelings. Preferring to speak as frankly as she could without being overly rude. She was hot, pretty tall, and seemed to have gotten over my rocky start.
She walked to the hotel door and threw away her cigarette, standing by the side entrance. I opened my truck's cab, turned the engine off and put the key in my jacket. My legs carried me to her side as she opened the door, leading me inside.
The door’s lock clicks closed softly

This is the only way I know to show you this @thesoupisburning
Rebranded Case
It was a day of work like any other. Nothing realy that impressive.
The only thing Michael has to do during the day was:
⦁ Stop Monty's outbreak and repair his casing. Specifically, his hands.
⦁ Distract Roxy so she won't destroy more of a teen's self-esteem. Again. (And we all know these thing can shattered easily. He has himself as an example.)
⦁ Digged-up Chica out of a trash bin and took her to a secluded place to unjammed all the trash she had eaten. (Seriously, who programmed her to do this? Who was the genius who thought that garbage was edible and nutritious enough to decide this was a proper all-you-can-eat buffet?)
⦁ Unstuck Monty's hands from a fence.
⦁ Taking care of Chica's craving round two. (No Lucas, you can't test if she would consume the packing peanuts. (She would. Of course she would.))
⦁ Taking out Freddy from Fazcade.
⦁ Unstuck Monty's hands from a brick wall.
⦁ Comfort Roxy from her inferiority complex. (And change her miror.)
⦁ Unstuck Monty's upper body from a concrete wall. (Do you have a personal vendetta to any surfaces blocking your path?)
⦁ And many more.
"MIIIIIIIIIKE!!!!! CHICA MADE A KID'S EARS BLEED AGAIN!!!!!"
That's why he prefered the night shift. Less problems.
He sigh. "Here we go again."
---
After taking care of the shrieking mother and giving the lawsuit to the ones in charge (While also dodging the Map Bot.), he took a well deserved rest at his desk in Parts and Service. He wasn't alone though.
"So yeah, I had to ch-change an arcade machine from the Wess Arcane. The West Arcade. Yeah. Some kid got access to the internal shircuit-" He scorf. "CIR-CUIT! YES!" He pumped his fist in the air for his success. "Superior Beebbinge told me to put it back. To put it in the back. Uhm… T-the big hallway with DJ's hole at the end. That one. A-and… uhmm… Ah! Yes! The guy has returned. You know the one who always says 'MUUUUUUUUUUSIC MAAAAAAAAAAANNNN!!!!!'. Yeah. He was back."
Lucas, his assistant, was pretty much the only one here he could have a decent AND unawkward AND complete conversation that he would feel fulfilling. Well, beside his husband.
"Again!?" Lucas fervently nodded at him."Wasn't he banned after taking one of the ovens from each kitchens? I still don't understand how he achieved that by the way." Michael ends while pointing his index at the other.
"The power of solving theories? I guess? I donno. The man hazz a crave that can riva-rivalise Chica's. Oh! And…" He looks up. "Banishment is PRObably inneffective against him." He paused to then point at Michael. "In fact! YOU should be the FIRST to know that." Lucas counters before taking a sip of his water bottle.

Choosing the Right Masonry Contractor in Fairfield County, CT: Your Comprehensive Guide"
Introduction
When it comes to enhancing the beauty and durability of your property in Fairfield County, CT, investing in masonry work is a smart choice. Whether you're planning to build a new structure, renovate an existing one, or simply add some stunning hardscape features to your outdoor space, finding the right masonry contractor is crucial. In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore the key factors you should consider when selecting a masonry contractor Fairfield County CT. From understanding the importance of masonry to tips on evaluating contractors, we've got you covered.
The Importance of Masonry
Masonry is an age-old construction technique that involves using materials like bricks, stones, and concrete blocks to create sturdy and aesthetically pleasing structures. In Fairfield County, CT, where historical charm and architectural integrity are highly valued, masonry work plays a significant role in preserving and enhancing the beauty of homes and businesses.
One of the primary reasons for choosing masonry is its durability. Masonry structures can withstand the test of time and harsh weather conditions, ensuring that your investment pays off in the long run. Additionally, masonry offers endless design possibilities, allowing you to create unique and customized features that reflect your personal style.
Now, let's delve into the crucial steps to help you find the ideal masonry contractor for your project in Fairfield County, CT.
Research and Recommendations :
Start your search by conducting thorough research. Seek recommendations from friends, family, or neighbors who have had masonry work done in Fairfield County, CT. Word-of-mouth referrals often lead to trustworthy contractors. Additionally, online resources like local business directories, social media platforms, and review websites can provide valuable insights into the reputation and quality of service offered by masonry contractors in the area.
Check Credentials and Licensing
Before engaging any masonry contractor, it's crucial to verify their credentials and licensing. In Fairfield County, CT, masonry contractors are typically required to hold the appropriate licenses and permits to operate legally. Check with the state and local authorities to ensure that your chosen contractor meets all necessary regulatory requirements. Licensing not only ensures the contractor's competence but also provides you with recourse in case of any disputes or issues.
Portfolio and Experience
Review the portfolio and assess the experience of the masonry contractor. A reputable contractor should be able to provide you with a portfolio of completed projects, showcasing their skills and capabilities. Pay close attention to projects that are similar in scope and style to your own. Consider the variety of masonry work they have undertaken, including brickwork, stonework, and concrete installations. An experienced contractor will have a diverse portfolio, demonstrating their versatility and expertise.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
Masonry work involves physical labor and potential risks. It's crucial to ensure that the contractor you choose has adequate insurance coverage. Request proof of liability insurance to protect yourself and your property in case of accidents or property damage during the project. Workers' compensation insurance is also essential to safeguard the well-being of the contractor's employees. Always ask for documentation of insurance coverage and verify its validity.
References and Reviews
Request references from the masonry contractor and take the time to contact previous clients. Speaking with past clients can provide valuable insights into the contractor's reliability, communication, workmanship, and overall professionalism. Additionally, explore online reviews and testimonials to gather more feedback from customers. Look for patterns in the feedback and pay attention to how the contractor handles any negative reviews or complaints. A contractor with a history of satisfied clients and positive reviews is more likely to meet your expectations.
Detailed Written Estimate
Once you've narrowed down your list of potential masonry contractors in Fairfield County, CT, request detailed written estimates for your project. A comprehensive estimate should outline all aspects of the job, including materials, labor, timelines, and costs. Be wary of contractors who provide vague or verbal estimates, as this can lead to misunderstandings and disputes later on. A written estimate ensures clarity and transparency, helping you make an informed decision.
Conclusion
In Fairfield County, CT, choosing the right masonry contractor is essential to the success of your project. By conducting thorough research, checking credentials, reviewing portfolios, verifying insurance coverage, and obtaining references, you can confidently select a contractor who will deliver exceptional results. Remember that masonry work is an investment in the long-term beauty and durability of your property, so it's worth taking the time to find the right professional for the job. With the right contractor by your side, you can transform your vision into a stunning reality that enhances the aesthetic appeal and value of your property in Fairfield County, CT.

Z2A - Chapter 1: Laundry Day
Chapter 1: LAUNDRY DAY “Things are quiet in the Boundary today, marking nearly a month since the last Eniyx sighting. We remind all citizens to stay vigilant and report any strange sightings to the Authority. In other news, Buybest has extended its weekend sale so shoppers can look forward to many savings across” *Beep beep beep beep* Closing the timer on her phone, Amy stood up and stretched a bit, looking over at the static filled newscast on the old tv in the corner of the laundromat. Swinging open the machine she was using, she began to pull out the warm clothes. She couldn’t help but notice the strange stares she was getting from the toddler sitting on the bench about five machines down. Children always seemed to have a hard time not hard locking their eyes to where her arm would be, and the pattern of discolored skin surrounding the area. Or at least she assumed that was what the kid was looking at. Amy looked down at her rounded orb of a middle, the tank top she was wearing not exactly hiding things. It’d been long enough at this point, that she hardly even noticed it. She’d grown accustomed to the shift in her balance, the strange looks, and the constant inquiries of what many assumed to be impending motherhood. At first she and Zoey would try to explain the truth of the matter, but eventually realized it was both much more convenient and much faster to just smile and nod. Only problems ever came with people they saw often enough to question why she had never popped after all these months. Chuckling to herself, she continued to grab her clothes from the machine. ‘I bet Zoey would love to head off to a good sale, we are running low on some things…’ She thought to herself, ‘Honestly she’s probably already there.’ Stuffing the clean clothes into her bag, she headed to the front desk, “Thank you Mr. Parker! I’ll see you next week.” She said to the elderly store owner. “Oh of course Ms. Grey, and give my greeting to Ms. Lal if you will, and if it's not too much of a bother, ask her when she would be available for her services, a few of our dryers have been struggling lately.” “I’ll be sure to let her know Mr. Parker!” Amy replied as she made her way out the door. Looking up and down the street, she didn’t see any taxis in sight. Shrugging to herself she started to make her way down the block herself.  The sidewalks were empty except for one or two people on the far side of the street, so she had all that concrete to herself. Every week more and more people moved towards the more central parts of the country. Even though it had been years since the Eniyx had last taken any territory, people still were on edge, and the bigger cities forming in the central lands were being built with all the latest defenses.  Old towns like this, with their worn brick-and-mortar walls, were becoming ghost towns.
The only reason Amy lived here was the low rent, at least before she met Zoey. Turning the corner she could see a set of empty apartment buildings, one in a state of disrepair, but nothing compared to the sorry state of the other, the top half of the building more or less blown apart with no visible efforts being made to repair it. Amy winced a bit looking at it, she could still remember the night she did that. It was shortly after Zoey finished the arm, and Amy’s aim did not live up to her confidence on that encounter. Noticing a cab coming up the road, she waved it down and climbed into the back seat. Rummaging around her bags to find some payment, she told the driver the directions. Doing some math in her head, she sighed a bit of relief realizing she still had barely enough to leave a decent tip. Looking down at the plating on her shoulder, Amy gave thought to how things had been since Zoey had completed it. Given the nature of the project, the government had been quick to come looking for what Zoey had developed. Seeing the prototype, an organization known as Charcom had stepped in to provide funding…and a tsunami of paperwork, red tape, and stipulations.  Yet here they were, still living in this dusty old town, yet to see their lives get properly funded. Arriving at her stop, Amy thanked the driver. Walking into her building, she passed the out of service elevator and opened the doors to the stairwell. “We should really consider not living on the 8th floor…” She grumbled before starting her way up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Zoey leaned back from her desk, and tapped her watch. “Amy? Are you back yet?” After a bit of silence she pulled out her phone, sending a message to her girlfriend. Zoey got up, having to push a schematic she was working on back onto her desk before it fell off.  She made her way out of the apartment, down the hall, and to the stairwell, opening the door and looking down the shaft. “Amy?” she called out, voice echoing just a bit. “Yeah, I’m here, just about to set this down and reply to your text. Laundry was a bit slow today,” Amy called back. “See if Martin is home and tell him to come carry this damn sack of clothes.” Zoey laughed, “Oh what? You know if he helps us, he’s gonna wanna stay for dinner right?” She hurried down the stairs to give a hand herself. “Yeah, I guess we gotta stretch it to payday don’t we?” Amy called back.
“Mhmm, and I’ve gotta hit up that sale at Buybest to get things I can use for your arm,” Zoey said as she skipped down some stairs, “I think we’ve got just enough with that.”
“Any luck with Charcom?”  Amy asked. Zoey turned down the next flight, reaching the floor Amy had made it to and grabbing the laundry bag from her. “No, no, they are still ghosting us.” Zoey said dejectedly.
“Oh so they are sure to show up the second I use the Arm once, but when we want some help in return for all we do for them its radio silent?” Amy replied.
Shrugging Zoey continued, “Guess we are too good at solving their problems, they don't have as many jobs for us these days.” Reaching the top floor, they made their way back into their apartment.  Zoey went straight through the living space and tossed the bag into the bedroom. Amy shut the door behind her, making sure to prop it up with her foot so that it closed properly, then turned around and took a seat on the couch, perfectly filling that worn out spot on the cushion.  Her eyes scanned the place over.  Aside from the heaps of parts and papers on Zoey’s desk, most things seemed to be in order.  She questioned whether the schematics near the bedroom door were there before, but she hadn’t memorized each one that Zoey had hung up, and they changed just about every week.
“Oh yeah, Mr. Parker wanted me to ask you when you’ll be available to fix up some of the dryers. To be honest they do really need a tuning, part of why I’m so late is how long it took to finish all that.”  Amy said. “Oh yeah, I’ll run by there tomorrow, after I run to Buybest. I know it's not exactly convenient for you to have to go without the Arm for this long, so I want to get that fixed ASAP.”  Zoey came back into the living space and pushed some more things into a pile on her desk.  She flicked off her computer and then sat down next to Amy on the couch. “I keep telling you, I can manage just fine running solo.” Amy jokes, flexing her arm. “I managed for 6 years before you came along after all.” Amy added, putting said arm around Zoey’s shoulders, with Zoey resting her head on Amy. “I know, but I made it to make your life easier didn’t I? Plus I don’t want some Eniyx showing up with you unprepared.” Zoey teased. “I don’t trust you to walk away from a fight without your firepower.” Amy opened her mouth to retort, but simply laughed. “Hey, I’ve chilled out a bit… Mostly… But anyway, what’s the plan for the rest of the night?” “Well, I was thinking we cook up the last of the top ramen, get nice and snuggly, and finally get around to watching that new documentary series Martin told us about.” Zoey said excitedly. “Ugh, can’t we watch something more…exciting than the history of Olympic Squatting?” Amy complained back with a pout. “You know he’s just going to keep asking us what we think until we watch it right? And given the lack of jobs we’ve had recently, we are running out of excuses for why we haven’t.” Zoey scolded. “He’s your brother, and given how much he helps out I think we can watch a silly…” She pulled out her phone and checked the show length. “4 HOURS?!?” Amy burst out laughing. “See!?” She stood up, heading into the side of the room that is the kitchen, and started filling a pot with water. “How about we watch it at double speed, or at least look up the summary, and watch something more our speed? We have a whole free streaming service of cheesy low budget garbage to laugh at.” She set the pot on the stove, and waited patiently for the flame to kick on before walking up behind the couch and looking over Zoey’s shoulder. She’d gotten good at not bumping her middle into the couch doing that now. “Ok fine… But if Martin wants to quiz us on it, I’m throwing you under the bus.” Zoey chuckled back. “The government funded mechanical genius refusing to take a quiz? Couldn’t be my Zoey! She can’t help but show off that big brain.” Amy teased, planting a quick kiss on the top of Zoey’s head. “She’s too proud to let other people know more than her!” Zoey blushed. “Engineering and Mechanics are not exactly the same as random sports trivia you know!” “Neither is sitcom trivia and who is the reigning champion of Building 2?” Amy retorted, raising an eyebrow as she pointed at the shelf of cheap plastic trophies from the annual complex trivia nights. Blushing even more now, Zoey turned to look at Amy. “Well master chef answer this quiz question: how long does it take before water boils over on a stove that runs hotter than its dial?”
“Shit, now our gourmet meal will be ruined!” Amy yelled, quickly running over to turn down the heat.  Her belly maneuvering skills were not so great in a panic, and her belly knocked some of the plastic dishes off the counter in the process. She blushed as she heard Zoey howling with laughter. “I keep telling you this wouldn’t happen if you’d made this battery smaller!” Amy called as she struggled to bend over and pick up the fallen dishes, before seeing Zoeys hands already grabbing them from off the floor. They both stand back up and Zoey puts a hand on Amy’s round middle. “We’ll aside from the fact I couldn’t really make it any smaller given what we had at the time, I still stand by the fact it makes you look adorable.” Zoey said softly, leaning in and putting a soft kiss on Amy’s warm cheek.
Blushing even more still, Amy turned for a moment, putting the overcooked ramen into bowls for the both of them. “Bon Appetit, my love.”
“Cheers” Zoey said back with a wide smile, tapping her bowl to Amy’s in a sort of toast. “Now let's hurry up and watch this before it gets too late… I don’t think we stand much of a chance making it through once we start getting tired.

Understanding the Costs of Block and Brick Installation in Minnesota: What You Need to Know
When planning any masonry project, one of the first factors to consider is cost. Whether you’re building a new structure, installing a fireplace, or working on a patio, choosing between block and brick can have a significant impact on your budget. At Murphy Masonry, we are proud to help homeowners and businesses in Minnesota with their masonry needs, offering expert guidance on Comparing Block And Brick Installation Costs.
Block vs. Brick: What’s the Difference?
Before diving into the costs, it’s important to understand the key differences between block and brick. Bricks are typically made from clay and fired in a kiln, giving them a smooth, durable finish. Blocks, on the other hand, are generally larger and made from concrete or cement, offering more structural versatility for larger projects.
Brick installation is often associated with traditional, elegant looks, ideal for facades, fireplaces, and other architectural features. While bricks provide a timeless aesthetic, they can come with a higher price tag due to labor-intensive installation and material costs.
Block is a more cost-effective option, particularly when larger, functional walls are needed. Concrete blocks are often used in construction projects, such as basements, retaining walls, and foundations. Their larger size means less labor is required for installation, resulting in lower overall costs.
Comparing Block and Brick Installation Costs
While both materials serve their purpose well, understanding the differences in cost is crucial for making an informed decision. Masonry contractors in East Bethel and other parts of Minnesota typically see the following cost differences between block and brick installation:
Material Costs: Bricks are usually more expensive than blocks. The average cost of bricks per square foot can range from $1 to $3, depending on the type of brick. Concrete blocks tend to cost between $1 and $2 per square foot, making them the more affordable option for large-scale projects.
Labor Costs: Because of the smaller size and the detailed work involved in brick installation, labor costs are typically higher. Bricklaying requires more precision and can take longer to complete. In contrast, block installation is quicker, which can result in lower labor costs for larger structures.
Durability and Maintenance: While both block and brick offer long-lasting durability, brick is generally considered more resilient against weathering and aesthetic wear over time. However, it’s important to note that brick may require occasional maintenance, such as repointing mortar joints. Concrete blocks may not require the same level of upkeep but might not offer the same aesthetic appeal as brick for certain applications.
Which One Should You Choose?
The decision to use block or brick largely depends on your specific project and budget. If you’re working with a limited budget but still need a durable structure, blocks are a great choice. For those looking for a more refined appearance or working on a high-end project, brick may be the better option despite its higher cost.
At Murphy Masonry, we specialize in offering expert advice and quality installation services. Our team is dedicated to helping you choose the right materials for your masonry project, ensuring that you get the best value for your investment.
