theyve closed both big grocery stores in the nearby mall bc they werent making a profit :/ we love to see when companies prioritize profit over providing a good sortiment of foods to low income areas
#very slay or whatever#love capitalism sooo much u guys :)#the company made a big profit over all last year btw so they werent exactly bleeding money or anything#there still lidl there i believe? but i think thats the only grocery store there now#and its very small compared to the other stores#im rly annoyed....#like there is a few other big stores nearby but all of them are basically inaccessible by foot#you gotta take the bus or drive yourself. while the mall was easily accessible by foot for ppl in the area#angry mad fuming#oh and both of these store chains keeps raising their prices on stuff of course lets not forget abt that#txt

heav'nly donuts doesn't get the same new england icon status as dunkin' donuts and i know why but i don't know why. first of all, it's not like their products are at all inferior. they have a wide variety of coffee and other hot/frozen drink options that regular customers do as a matter of fact go crazy about. their staple breakfast options come to play just as hard as dunks. in fact everything about heav'nly kind of is like dunkin but just trying way harder. and mostly succeeding. their donuts are all much larger than dunkin's. and they're also a new england-based franchise founded in massachusetts, only 25 years younger (dunkin opened in 1950 and heav'nly in 1975—but both of these are significantly younger than my grandparents). but heav'nly, despite its cult status among consumers, despite people KNOWIN what's up and that their products are on par if not superior, remains far less ubiquitous although still definitely not struggling. what is it about the dunkin franchise that allowed it to succeed and grow at an unbelievable rate? to the point of them being national competition to starbucks? how DID it come to be that there's a such a ridiculous density of dunkin donuts shops in the greater boston area? to the point where, if you live in this part of the country, you'll probably have to go out of your way if you prefer to get coffee at a starbucks, or some other franchise, instead? how did america come to run no dundun? and considering that, isn't it amazing that heav'nly has managed to be so strong a franchise in the deep dunkin donuts woods?
#text post#new england#dunkin donuts#heav'nly donuts#would love to hear ppl's thoughts on this. if they have any#bc heav'nly is a hell of a restaurant#like to compare them both as fast food restaurants... if dd is wendy's then heav'nly is five guys#it's just a bit more premium and certainly more popular#if i had to guess. heav'nly focuses on the quality of their current stores rather than expanding as broadly as possible#that's not me knocking dunkin though like i love dunkin a lot#fwiw even if their donuts are smaller i actually tend to like my staple donuts better at dunks#like their strawberry frosted donuts is just the most iconic breakfast food in the world to me#it has ALWAYS been my favorite ever since i was a kid and i just liked it cuz it was pink#i remember sitting in the back of my dad's car being like 4 years old and him going through the drive through and always getting me that on#but other sort of donuts like the chocolate glazed and stuff. yeah i like dunk's better i cant even tell u why#maybe it's just habit. obviously the donuts are still good and some dunkin stores don't have as good variety anymore#my favorite dunkin shop recently raised the prices of individual donuts from 99¢ to $1.59#the other closest dunkin to me had them at $1.59 and i always went to that one bc. bc i was saving 60 cents per donut#so sad. anyway...#i haven't had that many coffees from heav'nly before so i can't say. i most often just drink coffee i make at home#but ive had a lot of dunks coffee in my life#you know what as long as it's not starbucks we're all good. not to be a stereotypical new englander but fuck that overpriced hipster garbag

i kinda miss my hometown with how i could just go to the grocery store and get home in 20 minutes with minimal effort bc the road was flat and i lived like. a 5 minute bike trip away
#ramblings#personal#i moved from the center of a 'big' city to a more small town/village type situation#at my mom's place the list of things within 15 minutes of biking was infinite. here its like. i need 20 mins to get to the grocery store#and because my body is a bitch i cant even do the entire way there & back by bike. i have to walk the last part bc its so much uphill#then again i also only ever went to the grocery store from school (either lunch break or after school) so#there is a route to & from my new college by bus that has a switch REALLY close to a grocery store#i will be abusing this fact. leaving 30 minutes earlier is a small price to pay for a banger breakfast#i need to go to the grocery store today thats why im thinking about this#i dread going because of how tough it is to do that compared to my childhood idk#but the rewards... oh the rewards...

the perspective of looking at new jersey apartments again makes me glad im living where im at now, honestly ... ^^ ''
#i SO wish i could hop over there though ... the price of living is SOOO high and the pay doesnt match even a little#its bad everywhere .. but new jersey's got a special kind of sickness like that because of its nyc proximity#everyone lives there and commutes to the city like 1.5hrs away for the better pay . but i just lived there lol#i feel like compared to here everything in jersey's tinged an ''old'' way ..#i dont know how to describe it but EVERYTHING from the stores to the apartments has a ''grandma's house'' feel#a ''hasn't been updated in 40+ years'' feel#and austin's so new and booming. apparently. but i agree it doesnt have that old tinge to it#the apartment im living in isnt new. but it isnt old either. it doesnt have the feel to it#i thought it was just nostalgia speaking but looking at nj apartments today was like. oh wow. its nice to know im not going crazy#this same apartment in nj would be SO SO SO much more expensive. people here complain about prices (they SHOULD. its bad)#but looking at where i was and why i HAD to move elsewhere .. i remember now yknow. this place is a luxury i could never have had in nj#which doesnt mean its good. its sad. i wish things were different. i DO .. sort of .. wish i never moved out here to begin with#but im glad im here. i feel like ... you know when a hero goes on a quest and makes friends along the way and then .. doesnt return home ..#even though the quest was supposed to be a transitory period .. yknow .. maybe im just home now#atleast awhile longer. im happy calling here home awhile longer#i do kinda miss that old tinge to it. i always said everything in nj was like .. ''tinged yellow '' .. and it really is. yknow.#i just need to put some antiques and lighting into my apartment. lol. feels just like home

I got a rare etho with a special back in one of my booster pack :o
nice but also disappointment because now I can't use rare etho in a deck xP
#windy wrambles#hermitcraft tcg#not that I think I have cards to make my own deck#nor do I have anyone to play with#but still!#I also got collectible tango! unsigned but still :3#I still have a booster pack and a game box that I haven't opened#gotta save something for tomorrow :3#I got a rare wels and I'm >w<#I did really want to make an Iskall-deck (it's all Iskalls!) but there's no way I'm getting the cards for that and I cannae afford more xP#the downside to hctcg compared to say pokemon#can't just go the the store and pick up one boosterpack for a reasonable price whenever I have spare money#instead gotta preorder 8 at once for money I don't have#which I completely understand!#I'm just sad I can't collect cards the same way I did when I was into pokemon xP

I went to dollar general today because there was some coupons I wanted to use and at check out the cashier was like "wow you saved quite a bit. Yeah you saved like $15
Which like was the goal so that was satisfying and I felt weirdly accomplished to have saved enough that the cashier took note so that's a weird high I've been riding the last couple hours
#i feel like people must save pretty well there all the time#and i know my coworker like just recently saved quite a bit#so for her to be surprised was like weirdly fun#they have some good gain coupons atm if anyone is into that#i dont know if im ever saving literally as much as i good because im rarely comparing brands or even prices at other stores#but oh well#at least im not paying full price for what im getting so im saving in some way?#dont mind me#tag rambles

got the jp import of make it big (the vinyl record!!!) for $19 on sunday.........i think thats something worthy to brag about .
#the place i got it from was book-off and everything in there was pretty expensive and i only got like . 3 things but thats a highlight .#i think i'm just gonna go there on special occasions . i do not think pre-owned sailor moon figures should cost $50#went to a record store that i usually frequent and managed to get music from the edge of heaven (it was the vinyl . they had the cd too .)#and i swear they suddenly upped their prices even though the store is supposed to be known for their cheap prices#idk after going to both of those places i should just look the music in local thrift stores a lot more . like i already do but#i'm gonna do it even more now....like years ago i got abba's 'arrival' album at a savers and it was like....$4. compare that to#my local record store selling abba records for around $20 .
