Echoes of the past ( >:3 )
((Artair getting the Three For deal here man Jonas must have recently gone a round with his mom getting all these unpleasant memories floating around!))
It's not the first time she's pulled this little trick with Jonas. Sadly it won't be the last.
Jonas had gotten into the idea of makeup and such fairly young, starting with a fascination with sparkly nail polish that frequently earned him the ire of his older sister. Beatrice herself was surprisingly neutral about Jonas's fascination with makeup. As long as he didn't parade around with it in front of more conservative friends she was trying to impress, it was sort of endearing seeing him trying SO hard to make himself look as pretty as Mommy! Unfortunately he WAS sort of a silly-looking little boy after all, more cute than handsome with that turned-up nose like a little pug, that unkempt red hair and those ears sticking out that he could practically fly away with. Oh well, at least he wasn't fat like his sister was getting, she'd really have to start buckling down on Gwin about that. So yes she'd let him have this for himself. Bea was of course aware he'd sneak off her makeup now and then. But usually it was the less expensive things.
Then Jonas had made the mistake of sneaking off with her very VERY expensive Clé de Peau Beauté exclusive creme blush. It had been part of a special deal of course and came in a beautiful gold engraved compact and when she'd discovered it missing...oh well she knew right who to go to first.
Jonas was thirteen going on fourteen by this time and he'd been up in his room that day, intently studying his latest book of magic trying to get a card flourish down. He jumped when the door knob rattled violently and his mother came storming in, nostrils flared, face red. She'd gone right up to him, snatched the cards out of his hand and slapped them down on the nightstand.
"Jonas you have made Mommy very VERY upset!" she hissed at him.
" I'm sorry! I-I...what? " he stammered out, his brow knitted in confusion because how did him practicing a card trick make his mother angry?
" God, of course there you go acting brainless again, you're so good at that! Where is it? "
" Wh-where's what? " he whispered, already shrinking in on himself. She'd started going around the room now, starting with his desk, jerking open drawers and rifling through the contents.
" You know exactly what I mean! My compact! The gold one. Don't just sit there you get up right now and help me look for it since you lost it! "
Jonas immediately got up, heart in his throat as he began looking around frantically. " I-I didn't though..." he said weakly. " I-I put it in y-your purse when-when I was done. I swear I-I did! "
" Jonas, you are so CARELESS with other people's things, God. Do you know how much I paid for that compact? " She'd moved on to going through his clothes drawers, yanking out clothing and throwing it on the floor in her fury. " It certainly is not in my purse! I would have found it! "
" B-but I did, I d-did! " Jonas croaked out, going behind his mother and shuffling uselessly through the drawers she'd yanked open.
" No YOU DIDN'T. Stop LYING to MOMMY! " She glanced over at him with a flash in her eyes. " I'll show you! "
She stomped off in a huff, slamming the door so hard it made his window rattle. After a minute, she returned, bristling with self-righteous indignation. Jonas by the time was down on his hands and knees looking under his bed. His breathing came hard and fast, like he'd been running and anxiety had a death grip on his chest.
She began rifling through her purse. " See, I'll show you I'll show you! "
And she stopped.
The gleam of gold shone in the bottom of her purse. She took out the missing compact, stared down at Jonas still mostly under the bed.
And made a decision. Crossing quickly over to the bed, she took the compact and tucked it up one of his pillows.
" See it's not there! " she said in a haughty voice, giving her foot a little stamp. " Oh do come out from down there. If you're looking around why don't you look on top of your bed? I mean god it's so messy anything could be there! "
" Y-yes...yes..." Jonas gasped, hastily crawling out to start pulling aside sheets and blankets. He could hardly breathe now. Tears stung his eyes.
He jerked away the pillow. And stared.
" See! " she said in triumph reaching down and taking the compact. " I told you, you know Mommy is right. Here it is. Now aren't you sorry for making Mommy so upset, silly boy? "
Jonas was pulling at his shirt by now, trying to breathe deeply, his face red, his chest so tight it hurt. How...but...but...he was sure...he had been so sure...
" You're so FORGETFUL, baby, well don't worry don't worry Mommy's calmed down now. I'm all better now! " She did in fact feel much better as she patted the side of his reddening face. He dropped onto the bed, staring at the floor.
" Now tell Mommy you're sorry for getting her so worked up. Go ahead..."
Tears began silently spilling down his cheeks as he clapped his hand over his face and squeezed his eyes shut. His head spun.
" Pfff what? Why are you CRYING, silly boy? It wasn't THAT big of a deal, my God. Jonas you're so dramatic about things. Go ahead. Tell Mommy you're sorry like a good boy. "
" I'm s-s-sorry..." The words burned as he whispered them. He got an affectionate ruffle through his hair and a kiss on his head.
" Aww there we go, Mommy loves you even if your sweet little head is full of fluff sometimes! Now fix your face, no more crying. How about you clean up this room, hm? "
She swept off happily, leaving him trembling and crying in silence despite her cheerful instructions. Alone there in the middle of his room....

What's your favourite kind of physical storage media?
If we're talking practical it's hard to beat a dvd or flash drive imo
if we're talking overall? any floppy disk from 8" to 3.25" to the format war at the end of the floppy's life with the superdisk and iomegas zip and clik!/pocketzip disks. I look at them and go fuck YES now that's some physical fucking media.
Historically, it's gotta be the competitors in the flash storage wars. That's the most interesting format war IMO because so much random shit came out. Literally:
Secure Digital cards, the winner. You probably know this one.
Sandisk's Compact Flash, the close second that saw use in professional photography until SD could get enough capacity.
Sony's Memory Stick, notably NOT usb flash drives- even though Memory Stick lost so hard that's all you'll find when you google it.
Sandisk and Siemens' MultiMediaCard, notably not SD despite the visual similarities.
Toshiba's Smart Media.
AMD, Fujitsu, and Sharp's Miniature Card.
Olympus, Fujifilm, and Kodak's xD-Picture Card.
Sandisk, Sony, and Nikon's XQD card.
Then on top of having 8 separate, competing formats, each format had subformats. Like CFast and Mini/MicroSD.
And if you want proprietary it's a tie between GBA cartidges and PSP disks. They're the most satisfying game formats IMO.

Hey everyone! I recently got my hands on the ASUS RT-BE92U Wi-Fi 7 router and wanted to share my experience with you. This router is packed with features, including a 10-gigabit WAN/LAN port and four 2.5-gigabit ports, which should be more than enough for most users. Unlike some cheaper Wi-Fi 7 routers, this one includes the 6 GHz band, making it truly future-proof. Unboxing the ASUS RT-BE92U Upon unboxing, I was surprised by how compact and lightweight the router is. It weighs only 790 grams and measures approximately 24.5 cm in width, 15 cm in height, and 6.5 cm in depth. This makes it easy to place anywhere, whether on a desk or mounted on a wall. The package includes the router, a wall-mount kit, an RJ-45 cable, a power adapter, a quick start guide, and a warranty card. Design and Features The router features four external antennas and multiple ventilation openings on the back, sides, and bottom to prevent overheating. The back panel houses a WPS button, power input, power switch, reset button, one 10 Gbps WAN/LAN port, four 2.5 Gbps LAN ports, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port. The front panel has LED indicators for power, WAN, LAN, and the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. Performance Testing I put the RT-BE92U to the test using a Wi-Fi 7-enabled laptop and conducted both wireless and LAN speed tests at various distances. The router delivered impressive speeds, making it suitable for high-bandwidth activities like streaming and gaming. Its tri-band capability, including the 6 GHz band, ensures a stable and fast connection across multiple devices.
