Role Models and Influence: What responsibilities do athletes have as public figures? This considers the impact of athletes’ behavior on fans, particularly young people, and the broader society.
Aesthetic and Metaphysical Aspects

Metaphysical Questions: What is the essence of sport? This involves deeper philosophical inquiries into the fundamental nature of sporting activities and their place in human life.
Social and Cultural Impact
Sport and Society:

That was an absolutely fascinating read and I'm almost crying imagining being stuck inside of my apartment this vividly and then seeing those hero students turn a would-be massacre around. Or watching the broadcast and posting online cause DO YOU SEE THIS TOO??? Would you consider posting this particular darling as a one shot on ao3? Or the opinion piece? It wouldn't interrupt the story that way but remain accessible.
If I had the time, I’d love to make it its own one shot. Maybe I’ll manage one day. I’d really like to. I have this entire one shot around Mirio getting his license that I’d also like to do if I had time.
I think the part about this backstory that makes it so compelling to me is more the world’s reaction than the fight itself. I just have always been really intrigued by those moments where the world entire world stops to focus on the exact same moment—particularly when they have happy endings, like the Tham Luang cave rescue. I feel like so often this world is prone to apathy. Tragedies happen and no one cares, but sometimes we do. Sometimes everyone cares. Sometimes the entire world gets together and wants to save someone.
They all risked their lives and their licenses because they just loved the people of Yokohama that much. They didn’t have to know them. They needed heroes, so they were going to get them.
But they were all terrified the entire time it was happening. And they all thought they were doing this alone.
And I think there’s a special kind of magic in the idea that they weren’t alone. The entire world held its breath and rooted them on. They loved and were loved in turn.
AfO’s escape and potential return to power was a footnote comparatively. Fuck that guy. Look at what their kids did. Aren’t they spectacular.
#pez dispenser debris#afo absolutely thought he was going to the biggest news story for months and just got completely overshadowed#the league was BITTER#But in my mind this was just one of those spectacular moments of humanity#class 2A is Aizawa’s Kids but for a moment they were the World’s Kids#some news anchors refused to go to commercial and broadcast through the night because if those kids couldn’t take a break neither would they#Izuku and Todoroki are a viral TikTok audio and they have no idea#Izuku showing up to save someone was some of the first footage that hit the news#Todoroki showed up a second behind him in the same fight and they handled it together#there was a viral audio of someone’s reaction to their appearance like ‘OH. OH. ITS THE CRAZY ONE. FROM THE SPORTS FESTIVAL. OH ITS THE#OTHER CRAZY ONE TOO. OH THEYRE FUCKED. THEYRE SO FUCKED NOW’ neither of them have any idea#there was this moment after Mirio and Izuku took down the villain team where they just hugged each other in complete relief#and they didn’t know it but the entire world was cheering for them#Mina burned off an attempted rapist’s dick with acid people made tshirts#when it was obvious that one of them had taken a bad hit the entire world held its breath waiting for them to get up again#they were on every news station and everyone was tuned in#there was just so much hope and joy in the air when it became clear the class 2a kids were winning#it was electric
