Why Industrial Sliding Gates are Perfect for High-Security Areas
Introduction to Industrial Sliding Gates: Enhancing Security and Space Efficiency Industrial sliding gates, also known as cantilever slide gates, are robust structures designed to regulate access to commercial, industrial, or even residential areas. Unlike swing gates, which need ample space to open outward or inward, sliding gates glide horizontally along a track, making them perfect for locations with limited space.
Built from strong materials like steel or aluminum, these gates are designed to endure extreme weather and resist tampering, providing a reliable, long-lasting security solution.
Built for Strength and Durability: Materials that Stand the Test of Time
Constructed from durable materials such as steel or aluminum, industrial sliding gates are engineered to withstand harsh environmental conditions and deter attempts at tampering. Available in various sizes and designs, they can accommodate diverse entry points and meet different security needs, making them adaptable to a wide range of sites and purposes.
Enhanced Crime Deterrence: Why Industrial Gates are Essential for Security
On commercial properties, industrial sliding gates act as a first line of defense against unauthorized entry and potential criminal activity. Acting as a strong physical barrier, these gates deter trespassers and intruders, helping to prevent crimes such as vandalism, theft, and data breaches. Their presence alone can discourage criminal behavior, providing peace of mind for business owners and property managers alike.
Controlled Access with Ease: Managing Entry and Exit Points
Industrial sliding gates are ideal for controlling access to premises, whether they are manually operated or motorized. By allowing selective entry and exit, these gates enable businesses to control who can enter the property. This regulated access can be essential for properties that require high levels of security, allowing entry only to those with permission while keeping out unauthorized visitors.
Privacy and Security Combined: Shielding Your Property from Unauthorized Access and View
Industrial sliding gates not only prevent unauthorized individuals from entering but also block visibility, adding a layer of privacy for operations within the premises. Depending on the style and height, these gates can restrict both physical entry and visual access, protecting sensitive or proprietary activities from public view and adding to the overall security of the property.
Motorized Sliding Gates: Enhancing Convenience and Accessibility
A motorized industrial sliding gate can be particularly beneficial when handling large, heavy gates. Motorized options make accessing the property easier, especially when speed and efficiency are required. This is especially valuable for high-traffic properties, where manual operation could be time-consuming and impractical.
Cost Savings on Insurance: Added Security Reduces Premiums
The addition of industrial sliding gates can result in significant insurance savings. Informing your insurance provider about these enhanced security measures demonstrates your proactive steps to prevent crime and protect your property, often resulting in reduced insurance premiums. This added layer of security is not only beneficial for protecting assets but can also positively impact a business's bottom line.
Versatile Applications Across Sectors: Where Industrial Sliding Gates Excel
Industrial sliding gates serve various industries and sectors, including commercial facilities, critical infrastructure sites, government institutions, transportation hubs, and residential communities. They are commonly used to secure warehouses, manufacturing plants, power plants, communication hubs, military bases, airports, seaports, railway terminals, and even high-end residential areas, providing essential security for a wide range of environments.
Quiet Operation Advantage: Swinging Gates as a Noise-Reducing Alternative
For properties where noise control is a priority, industrial swinging gates may be preferable due to their quieter operation. Unlike sliding gates, swinging gates do not rely on a track or motorized components, allowing them to move more quietly. This feature makes swinging gates ideal for areas where maintaining a peaceful environment is essential.
Access Control Integration: Keeping Unwanted Visitors Out
Industrial sliding gates equipped with access control systems are invaluable for preventing unauthorized entry and addressing potential security threats. In today’s world, where security risks are ever-present, these gates can provide businesses and institutions with a reliable way to protect assets, personnel, and sensitive information.
Conclusion
Industrial sliding gates are an excellent choice for enhancing security, maximizing space, and adding durability to any commercial or industrial site. With benefits ranging from crime deterrence to cost savings on insurance, they are a wise investment for any property needing reliable protection.
Able Door Services offers a wide range of high-quality industrial sliding gate options to suit your unique security and access needs. Secure your premises with the strength and efficiency of an industrial sliding gate from Able Door Services today.

🎮 HEY I WANNA MAKE A GAME! 🎮
Yeah I getcha. I was once like you. Pure and naive. Great news. I AM STILL PURE AND NAIVE, GAME DEV IS FUN! But where to start?
To start, here are a couple of entry level softwares you can use! source: I just made a game called In Stars and Time and people are asking me how to start making vidy gaems. Now, without further ado:
SOFTWARES AND ENGINES FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO CODE!!!
Ren'py (and also a link to it if you click here do it): THE visual novel software. Comic artists, look no further ✨Pros: It's free! It's simple! It has great documentation! It has a bunch of plugins and UI stuff and assets for you to buy! It can be used even if you have LITERALLY no programming experience! (You'll just need to read the doc a bunch) You can also port your game to a BUNCH of consoles! ✨Cons: None really <3 Some games to look at: Doki Doki Literature Club, Bad End Theater, Butterfly Soup
Twine: Great for text-based games! GREAT FOR WRITERS WHO DONT WANNA DRAW!!!!!!!!! (but you can draw if you want) ✨Pros: It's free! It's simple! It's versatile! It has great documentation! It can be used even if you have LITERALLY no programming experience! (You'll just need to read the doc a bunch) ✨Cons: You can add pictures, but it's a pain. Some games to look at: The Uncle Who Works For Nintendo, Queers In love At The End of The World, Escape Velocity
Bitsy: Little topdown games! ✨Pros: It's free! It's simple! It's (somewhat) intuitive! It has great documentation! It can be used even if you have LITERALLY no programming experience! You can make everything in it, from text to sprites to code! Those games sure are small! ✨Cons: Those games sure are small. This is to make THE simplest game. Barely any animation for your sprites, can barely fit a line of text in there. But honestly, the restrictions are refreshing! Some games to look at: honestly I haven't played that many bitsy games because i am a fake gamer. The picture above is from Under A Star Called Sun though and that looks so pretty
RPGMaker: To make RPGs! LIKE ME!!!!! NOTE: I recommend getting the latest version if you can, but all have their pros and cons. You can get a better idea by looking at this post. ✨Pros: Literally everything you need to make an RPG. Has a tutorial inside the software itself that will teach you the basics. Pretty simple to understand, even if you have no coding experience! Also I made a post helping you out with RPGMaker right here! ✨Cons: Some stuff can be hard to figure out. Also, the latest version is expensive. Get it on sale! Some games to look at: Yume Nikki, Hylics, In Stars and Time (hehe. I made it)
engine.lol: collage worlds! it is relatively new so I don't know much about it, but it seems fascinating. picture is from Garden! NOTE: There's a bunch of smaller engines to find out there. Just yesterday I found out there's an Idle Game Maker made by the Cookie Clicker creator. Isn't life wonderful?
✨more advice under the cut. this is Long ok✨
ENGINES I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT AND THEY SEEM HARD BUT ALSO GIVE IT A TRY I GUESS!!!! :
Unity and Unreal: I don't know anything about those! That looks hard to learn! But indie devs use them! It seems expensive! Follow your dreams though! Don't ask me how!
GameMaker: Wuh I just don't know anything about it either! I just know it's now free if your game is non-commercial (aka, you're not selling it), and Undertale was made on it! It seems good! You probably need some coding experience though!!!
Godot: Man I know even less about this one. Heard good things though!
BUNCHA RANDOM ADVICE!!!!
-Make something small first! Try making simple: a character is in a room, and exits the room. The character can look around, decide to take an item with them, can leave, and maybe the door is locked and you have to find the key. Figuring out how to code something like that, whether it is as a fully text-based game or as an RPGMaker map, should be a good start to figure out how your software of choice works!
-After that, if you have an idea, try first to make the simplest version of that idea. For my timeloop RPG, my simplest version was two rooms: first room you can walk in, second room with the King, where a cutscene automatically plays and the battle starts, you immediately die, and loop back to the first room, with the text from this point on reflecting this change. I think I also added a loop counter. This helped me figure out the most important thing: Can This Game Be Made? After that, the rest is just fun stuff. So if you want to make a dating sim, try and figure out how to add choices, and how to have affection points go up and down depending on your choices! If you want to make a platformer, figure out how to make your character move and jump and how to create a simple level! If you just want to make a kinetic visual novel with no choices, figure out how to add text, and how to add portraits! You'll be surprised at how powerful you'll feel after having figured even those simple things out.
-If you have a programming problem or just get confused, never underestimate the power of asking Google! You most likely won't be the only person asking this question, and you will learn some useful tips! If you are powerful enough, you can even… Ask people??? On forums??? Not me though.
-Yeah I know you probably want to make Your Big Idea RIGHT NOW but please. Make a smaller prototype first. You need to get that experience. Trust me.
-If you are not a womanthing of many skills like me, you might realize you need help. Maybe you need an artist, or a programmer. So! Game jams on itch.io are a great way to get to work and meet other game devs that have different strengths! Or ask around! Maybe your artist friend secretly always wanted to draw for a game. Ask! Collaborate! Have fun!!!
I hope that was useful! If it was. Maybe. You'd like to buy me a coffee. Or maybe you could check out my comics and games. Or just my new critically acclaimed game In Stars and Time. If you want. Ok bye
#reference#gamedev#indie dev#game dev#tutorial#video game#ACTUAL GAME DEVS DO NOT INTERACT!!!1!!!!!#this is for people who are afraid of coding. do not come at me and say 'actually godot is easy if you just--' I JUST WILL NOT.#long post

THE NECESSITY OF BROOMSTICKS
rio vidal x reader, 938 words
you compromise on halloween decorations with your witch girlfriend. silly stupid halloween fluff w no depth just witches because WHERE are the fluff fics for agatha all along.
Rio looks at the sign with distaste. “What the fuck is witches’ brew?”
You look at the sign you’re hanging in the kitchen, Fresh Witches’ Brew, and smile. It’s decorative, you bought it while you were out today, one of the many Halloween decorations you found to put around the house. “It’s… you know. Potions. Spells. Cauldrons.”
She tilts her head. “No one uses cauldrons anymore.”
You roll your eyes, stepping back from the sign. It matches well with your home, it adds a playful touch you suspect you need in sharing a home with Death. Rio is obviously displeased, though, standing with her arms crossed as she glares up at your decor. She’s always hated the way witches are portrayed in the media this time of year — pointy hats and bubbling cauldrons and, as you love to point out, riding on brooms.
‘I rode on a broom once,’ she reminded you furiously the other day when you had brought home a new throw pillow with a stereotypical green witch with her pointy hat riding on a broom. ‘It was necessity.’
“I bought something else,” you tell her and reach for your bag of decor. She puts on an uninterested expression, but cranes her neck to look over into your bag. This time, you pull out new coffee mugs. Hocus Pocus, they read, in giant orange lettering. You hand Rio one of the mugs.
“Oh,” she looks down at the mug and then up at you — it’s on the tip of her tongue, a remark about how witches aren’t like Hocus Pocus movie witches, but instead she places it on the kitchen counter and with an obligatory smile she thanks you. She gravitates close to you, wrapping an arm around your waist and watching intently as you sort through the rest of your decor.
“I think I’ll go out today and get some decorations, too,” Rio announces and presses a quick kiss to your cheek — you expect to see a black lipstick stain when you next glance in the mirror. She stands up a little straighter, watching you with unwavering resolve. It sounds unnatural and dry when she says, “You’ve put me in the Halloween spirit.”
You nod, though you’re a bit hesitant. She hardly celebrates Halloween like you do — she’s more ancient than your commercialized celebrations, she views them as silly and meaningless compared to those of past centuries. It’s a night that was once viewed with much more reverence, a night that was respected with the severity it demands. Nonetheless, you’re curious as to what she will come up with to use for decorations — it’s hard to envision her trekking through the store for a scarecrow fit for the front porch.
•••
As you are putting up the last of your decorations, Rio comes in through the front door. She hauls something behind her, dragging it in through the door and propping it up on the couch: a life-sized plastic skeleton. Her gaze flits between you and it as she interprets your reaction, and you see the sense of achievement she holds.
“He was on sale,” Rio says, “so I got him some friends. They’re out on the patio sitting around that big cauldron you bought. I covered them in fake blood and drove one of my knives through one of their rib cages.”
Though inanimate, the look the skeleton on your couch wears on its bony face reflects Rio’s excitement. It’s charming, and you can only imagine the way the others she bought look sitting around your witches’ cauldron out on the patio. The vision has a smile pulling at you, and Rio’s pride in her purchases only seems to grow.
“I love him,” you nod to the skeleton on the couch. “Are you going to put him with the others?”
“No,” she digs around in a bag she brought in and pulls out a horror clown mask. “He gets to be a dead clown. You get your witch hats, I get my dead things.”
It’s a compromise you are willing to settle on for her. You know your days of traveling through the house at night for a glass of water have been ripped away until the skeleton is stored for next Halloween, but it’s a fair exchange if it means Rio will be more content in the face of your stereotyped witch decorations.
Rio slips the clown mask onto the skeleton and steps back to examine her work. She pulls out a dagger she keeps on her — you’ve told her that it is unnecessary to carry around knives constantly, but she never listens — and hands it to you. She nods to the skeleton. “Do the honors?”
“What, incriminate myself with clown murder?”
Rio nods enthusiastically. You approach the skeleton, and in a swift motion you drive the dagger into his chest.
“Beautiful,” Rio takes your hand when you come back to stand at her side. She pulls you close, and she leans in to kiss you before she stops and pulls away.
“What are you doing?” You ask, but Rio doesn’t respond, just disappears into the kitchen. “Rio?”
When she comes back, she holds your Witches’ Brew sign. She places it beside the skeleton and together you view the new addition to your seasonal decor.
“There,” Rio says. “Now it’s how it should be.”
A dead murderous clown selling witches’ brew on your couch — an addition to your household that you never would have suspected necessary, but one that makes your fall celebrations feel complete. Now Rio kisses you, peppering your face in more black lipstick stains, love outstanding the transience of autumn.

"Faced with declining membership, aging buildings and large, underutilized properties, many U.S. houses of worship have closed their doors in recent years. Presbyterian minister Eileen Linder has argued that 100,000 churches may close in the next few decades.
But some congregations are using their land in new ways that reflect their faith – a focus of my urban planning research. Some are repurposing their property to provide affordable housing, as the housing crisis intensifies across the country.
Take Arlington Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Virginia. In 2016, the church sold its historic stone building to the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing to construct a 6-story complex with 173 apartments, known as “Gilliam Place.” The building still houses space for the congregation, as well as La Cocina, a bilingual culinary job training facility and cafe. In Austin, Texas, St. Austin Catholic Parish is partnering with a developer to build a 29-story tower providing 200 beds of affordable student housing, in addition to new spaces for ministry.
Other houses of worship are pursuing similar projects today.
Same mission, new projects
Faith-based organizations have been building housing for many years, but generally by purchasing additional property. In recent years, however, more houses of worship are building affordable housing on the same property as the sanctuary.
This can be done in a variety of ways. Some congregations adapt the existing sanctuary and other faith-owned buildings, while others demolish existing buildings to construct a new development, which may or may not have space for the congregation. Another option is to build on excess property, like a parking lot.
Depending on how a development deal is structured, a faith-based organization may receive proceeds from the sale of its land, or from leasing their property to a developer – funds which they can then spend on ministry or on a new space for worship. If a new development includes space for the congregation, sometimes they rent out those spaces when the space is not being used for worship, which can also financially benefit the congregation.
Faith-based organizations often see these projects as a way to do “God’s work.” In some instances, they include community services beyond the housing itself.
Near Los Angeles, the Episcopal Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Placentia partnered with a nonprofit affordable housing developer – National Community Renaissance, also called National CORE – to develop 65 units for older people. The complex also includes a 1,500 square foot (140 square meter) community center. The city’s diocese has a goal of building affordable housing on 25% of its 133 properties.
For some congregations, these are mission-driven projects rooted in social justice.
In Washington, D.C., Emory United Methodist Church redeveloped its property and constructed The Beacon Center – which has 99 affordable housing units, community spaces, and a commercial kitchen that provides job training for recently incarcerated people – while preserving the sanctuary. In Seattle, the Nehemiah Initiative is working with Black churches in the Central District, a historically African American neighborhood, to redevelop its properties into affordable housing to keep residents from being displaced."
Potential to evolve
As states and cities struggle to provide affordable housing, studies have been conducted from Nashville to New York City on the amount of land faith organizations own, and their potential as housing partners.
In the D.C. metro area, for example, the Urban Institute found almost 800 vacant parcels owned by religious organizations. In California, a report from the Terner Center at University of California, Berkeley found approximately 170,000 “potentially developable” acres of land owned by religious organizations and nonprofit colleges and universities...
When thinking about the redevelopment process, Arlington Presbyterian member Jon Etherton told me, “the call from God to create, do something about affordable housing was bigger than the building itself.”"

They're calling it a barndominium, but you can't convince me that it wasn't originally a commercial business that houses large trucks. The 2023 pre-fab building in Bullard, TX has been converted to a 4bd, 4ba, 3,400 sq ft home and has a pending sale for $845k. It also has a theme: Industrial w/black, white, & natural woods.
It's very open concept, and they've constructed a 2nd level with decorative railings.
The living room area faces windows looking out at the deck.
Large modern corner fireplace.
There's no formal dining area, but a larger table fits in the kitchen space.
The kitchen features black Shaker cabinetry with gold handles and quartz counters.
And, this is a bar with a wine fridge.
Double doors from the garage open to a mud area/drop zone. Floors are simulated wood vinyl.
There's also a pantry back here in the hall to the primary bedroom.
Feature wall in the primary bedroom and sliding glass modern farm doors.
The ensuite matches the kitchen cabinets, except for the butcher block counter.
Closet/dressing room plus laundry room.
Guest bedroom suite has a standard 3pc. ensuite.
The mezzanine is a vast space and currently houses a family TV area in one corner.
The large bedroom suite up here includes a walk-in closet.
At the far end of the mezzanine there's a door that opens to an unfinished part of the home.
This looks like it's supposed to be a rec room.
It has a finished living room area with a garage door to the pool.
And, there's also a kitchenette.
The bath is directly accessible from the pool.
Fully equipped outdoor kitchen.
Pool with hot tub and waterfall feature.
The home is built in a clearing on a 3 acre lot.

Last week, the Black Keys, a band best known for soundtracking car commercials and occasionally fistfighting fellow Nashville resident Jack White, canceled the entire North American leg of a scheduled arena tour without explanation. Why would a band without a major hit in years think it can sell out arenas in tertiary markets? No one can be sure, but the touring business is in trouble, and part of the reason is ego.
Going on tour used to be a non-negotiable part of a life in music—a way to interact with fans, make money, and see the world. But nowadays, artists either want to play arenas or stadiums or do a residency, playing multiple nights in one city at the same venue, à la Harry Styles and Adele. Every week, another artist goes viral on Twitter for low ticket sales, with a screengrab of a Ticketmaster seat map awash in blue.
[…]
So, who do we blame? Is this the fault of corporate mega-promoters like LiveNation (which produced the Black Keys’ tour) booking artists into the biggest venues possible, then jacking the price of everything from tickets to parking to concessions, all regardless of what the market will bear, while tightening their grip on the marketplace to the point that the Department of Justice is preparing to sue them in federal court for antitrust violations? Is it agents and managers gassing up the artist? Is it just the artist's desire to sell out these giant venues? Maybe all of the above.
If you’re going out on the road and you’re big enough to even consider booking an arena show, why not do three nights in a prestigious venue like Radio City Music Hall or the Beacon Theatre instead? It provides fans with a more intimate experience, and every night will feel full. The Black Keys eventually released a statement. They didn’t blame anyone. They didn’t whine about how hard touring is. They just said they were recalibrating after a successful European run playing venues like Brixton Academy in London and the Zenith in Paris. It was the right approach. We all know it was ticket sales, but no artist should be ashamed of taking your lumps, switching things up, and selling tickets.
Big streaming numbers look great online but don’t necessarily translate to ticket sales. A touring business has to be built, returning to the same cities every year. A career cannot rely solely on the algorithm. Being great live will get people through the door and keep them coming back. These offline collective experiences are few and far between these days; buying tickets and going to shows is essential and valuable. They just don’t all need to be in arenas.

“Ne, ne, Sakura-chan~.” Suo brightly called.
Sakura was in the backroom working on a bouquet. He had his work apron over his outfit, and was sitting on a stool while cutting different ribbons to wrap around the flowers. “Hmm?” He humed. Hopefully loud enough for Suo to hear him.
“Your lover boy is standing outside his shop.” Suo responds from his place at the front entrance at the cash register. The flower shop had glass windows all along the front with different types of bouquets that each worker had created, displayed behind them.
Along with having a clear view of their neighbors.
Sakura stood up slowly, and walked to the doorway to the backroom, and slammed the door shut. Loud enough for Suo to know his answer.
His face was flamed. He knew it was.
He grabbed his cheeks, and shook his head.
“Wow. You’re still letting what Suo said to you, get to you?” Nirei said from his desk in the corner of the backroom. He was their accountant, and marketing expert.
A month ago, Nirei made Sakura be in their commercial. He fumbled his way through it, trying his best to talk about the different types of flowers they have. Blushing the whole time during an outside segment, when he was supposed to go to their neighbors, and give them a flower to show that they are a part of the community.
The last stop was the Tattoo shop across the street, called Shishitoren Skin Art, run by Togame, and Choji. Usually Choji is at the front desk greeting everyone, but that day had to be Togame, and
“AHHH!” Sakura grabbed his hair in frustration. Remembering what Togame did when he got his flower.
Sakura refuses to watch the video.
Nirei said it went viral on TikTok, and Youtube.
Their neighbors have been coming by sharing their foods, and gifts from their business for thanks since they’ve been getting more business as well thanks to being featured.
The shop run by Tachibana gave them each a coupon book, and it’s been the best gift of all.
Nirei leans back in his chair. “You don’t know if Togame really has a crush on you. Suo is probably messing with you. It’s what he lives for.”
“But he kissed me!”
“On the forehead. Like a big brother to a little brother as a show of thanks.” He sighed. “You guys have a good relationship.” He looks at Sakura, still a blushing mess, holding his face in his palms. “Don’t you miss fighting with him?”
Sakura shook his head. “I don’t need him! Tsugeura, and Sugishita still fight me.”
“This is sad.” Nirei mumbles.
He drops his hands from his face and glares at Nirei. “Oi, shut up! How about you go out there and talk to the customers, you freaking neet! All you do is sit back here and talk shit.”
“Oi, I’m not as pretty as the both of you. I won’t make sales. I have the stats to prove it for the times I’ve been out there.”
Sakura’s face is less red now. He walks back over to his work bench. His back to Nirei. “You are cute. You dumbass.” He hastily compliments, though it sounds like a threat.
Nirei sighs softly, and touches his heart. “Awww, Sakura-san.” He smiles.
____________
“So this is where you've been?”
Sakura jumps in his skin. He’s in the banquet hall next door run by an annoying old lady, who constantly loves to pretend her legs are shit, but Sakura had video proof of her teaching a pilates class.
She has it’s her twin, and Sakura doesn’t have enough evidence to disprove it, so he ends up driving her the short distance to Tachibana’s shop.
The mother of the husband hired them, and he’s setting everything up in the wedding part, and Suo is working in the dining area with Kiryu.
The dining area is closer to the entrance.
He picks up his phone, and the group chat has a picture from Suo of a Cat gif saying ‘Good luck!’
He’s working on the altar, or he was before he was interrupted. His hands have frozen above the Dahlias.
He makes eye contact with Togame, as he walks to the altar. Thankfully the runner isn’t down yet, so Togame’s sandals won’t dirty it.
He would have yelled at him, and fought him if so.
“Haven’t seen you in a while, little monkey.” Togame says. He has his shades on today. His mullet has gotten longer, or maybe Sakura hadn’t noticed since it’s usually in a ponytail. The dragon tattoo of Shinran from Dragonball Z is wrapped around his neck, and the flower tattoos he has on each hand. One hand has blue bells, and the other has orchids.
It was how they started talking.
He told him those were ugly flower tattoos.
And they started brawling in the streets, but neither of them could beat the other.
Eventually Choji called for Togame, but he walked Sakura back to his shop first, and patted his head,
“I had fun, little monkey.” He gave him a toothy smile before walking back to his shop.
Also he always had a monk type of outfit on.
Fucking weirdo.
“I’ve been busy.” He quickly says. His face is heating up.
Togame tilts his head at him. “Why is your face red?”
Sakura hastily smacks his cheeks. “No reason. It’s probably because I’m doing a wedding. You know romance stuff—wait not like you know romance, like you're a single loser like me. Well it’s not like I enjoy being single, but wait don’t—.” His cheeks are burning, and he puts a hand out in front of him to prevent Togame from getting any closer.
Togame walks closer and closer throughout his ramblings, and pats his shoulder, bypassing Sakura’s weak attempt at stopping him. “Dude, calm down.” He crouches down to Sakura level. Sakura was working on the bottom to middle half of the altar.
Sakura is sitting on his bottom.
Togame is crouched slightly above him, smiling down at him.
“Ne, ne, Sakura-chan. I think Togame has a crush on you.”
He hears Suo's voice in his mind.
He gulps.
“Are you calm now?” Togame asks after enough silence follows.
Sakura stiffly nods. He feels like there's no other options for what’s going on. He’s never had someone have a crush on him before.
At the age of 27, he thinks Togame is 29. Togame probably has had a lot of experience with dating, but to Sakura it’s just so scary, but…. he also wants it.
“Can I–.” He stops, clearing his throat. “Have you ever had a crush on someone?” Sakura meekly asks. He shifts his eyes off to the side.
“You’re avoiding me because you have a crush?” He laughs. “What, you don’t want them to see how much of a little monkey you are? Always ready to fight at a moment's notice?” He shakes Sakura with the hold of his shoulder.
Sakura slips out of his grip. “No! You fuck-ass. I’m asking if you like someone?”
Togame tsk. “Fuck no. I don’t have time for that shit.” He grabs his shades, moving them to the top of his head. Then let his elbows rest on his bent knees. “Choji takes up too much of my attention, and I’m taking on an apprentice. I don’t have time for a relationship.” Then he looks pensive for a moment. “Well, I don’t think anyone wants to date me. I used to be a real asshole in my past relationships. So I’d rather not try again.” He shrugs.
Sakura listens to him.
So he has his answer.
Suo was wrong.
He feels—
Hmm, he doesn’t know how to feel.
“Oh.”
“If you were looking for relationship advice, shouldn’t you have asked Umemiya? Hasn’t he been with his husband for like six years.”
Four years ago his old Senpai called him up and asked if he wanted to buy his flower shop. He was looking to sell, so he could invest the money. He wanted to buy a house, and built a closet for his husband, Tsubakino.
He didn’t understand because as far as he knew Tsubakino was pretty wealthy.
Umemiya just laughed at him, and told him, “You’ll understand one day.”
Suo, and Nirei helped pitch in buying it, and they’ve been successful ever since.
Though his senpai will bring them a basket of fruit and vegetables every week in exchange for a bouquet to give to Tsubakino.
“He speaks in riddles. He’d say something like.” He imitates Umemiya’s voice. “Ahh, the leaves will tell you how to speak one day, and you’ll know how to show your true colors of love!”
Togame laughs at him. “He would say something like that.” He smacked his knee to emphasize his amusement. “And Choji would eat it up.”
Sakura laughs too.
He missed this.
They’d usually get something to eat after fighting, or sometimes he called Togame over to the flower shop to sit with him, while he sketches next to Sakura as his work table. He’s seen a few of Togame’s artwork, though he won’t show Sakura every sketch he does when he’s invited over.
His heart is feeling lighter, so he feels he can be honest. “You want to know why I was avoiding you?”
Togame flicks Sakura’s nose. “At least you admit it, you little monkey.”
Sakura tries to kick him, but Togame jumps in time.
Sakura pouts.
Togame reaches out, and rubs his thumb over Sakura’s bottom lip, “Come on, tell me why.” He’s still smiling at him.
Sakura licks his thumb, and Togame leans a bit closer. “Ahh don’t start something, I know you won’t finish.” Togame sultry glares at him, before slowly taking his thumb away. “But I shouldn’t mess with you when you are trying to speak.” He puts the thumb in his own mouth, making eye contact with Sakura.
Sakura instantly combust.
He thinks Togame can see the imaginary fumes coming out of his ears.
“I have work to do!” He loudly reminds, pointing a finger at him. “GO!”
Togame chuckles, “Not until you tell me why you were avoiding me?”
Sakura quickly shakes his head. “NO! You made it weird!”
Togame groans, throwing his head back. “Come on. I’ve missed you. I was going to invite you over to my place. I got a free couples coupon from Tachibana’s place. I was going to use it with Choji, but he’s beefing with her for some reason.” He puts his head back up again. “Then I remembered I know a lost primate that probably hasn’t eaten since he’s a little workaholic.” He teases.
He wants to feel offended, well he is offended, but that’s not the point.
Free food from his favorite place!
“Suo said you have a crush on me, but I know it was a lie to mess with me.” He quickly spits out.
Togame pauses.
Sakura pauses.
Then a snort comes from deep in Togame’s chest. Togame covers his mouth to keep the giggles in.
“Stop laughing at me. I know I’m dumb sometimes. Nirei was right. He said I’m like a little brother to you.”
Togame snorts again. He closes his eyes and looks away from Sakura.
“STOP IT!” He grabs a few flowers next to him on the floor and throws it at him. The altar is mostly done. This extra batch wasn’t going to be used.
Togame lets the flowers land on him.
He turns back to Sakura.
Sakura jolts from the blank stare. “What?”
“For being a dumbass, you’re staying the night at my place.”
Sakura’s eyes widened. “What? Why?”
He dusted a few flowers off his chest. “To make up for lost time.” He decides.
Sakura wants to dispute it but it does make sense.
So he nods.
Togame grins wide at him. “Call me when you’re done here. I’ll bring my motorcycle, and we can drive then since you don’t know where I live. I’ll bring you back in the morning.” Togame stands up.
“Oi, I’ll need clothes. We have to stop at my place first.” He asserts.
Togame waves him off. “Drivers rules. You can wear my clothes, little monkey.”
“To work?!” He screeches, face flamed again. “Suo will be so mean to me.” He whines.
Togame walks back down the aisle. “Not my problem. Text me your order beforehand, and I’ll have our meals waiting for us.”
Sakura watches him walk away, and out the door.
He smirks.
He can’t wait to tell Suo he was wrong!

Okay I can post this now! These are from before I removed a lot of the desk clutter - including the dang ashtrays which I should have just left lol.
The idea was that their were two agents working under the main boss (whose office is through the door) and one of them was a slob nepo-hire while the other was a type-A overachiever.
This would have been an agency originally opened in the 50s but present timeline would be closer to the early 70s, which meant a mixture of furniture as things were replaced throughout the years.
As you can see the "slob" doesn't really care so much about presentation. He's got a dirty mug, a travel brochure, and is in the process of making a sale so things are strewn about everywhere. And yes, he smokes indoors.
The Typa-A overachiever was hired because her slob co-worker, the son of the founder, was terrible at his job. THey needed somebody organized or the business was going to go bust. She lives for calendars and files and notebooks, probably writes contracts in her sleep, and keeps tidy little pamphlets of various world locations right at her desk with the latest information on world travel. She also added cute little throw pillows to her guest chairs to make things seem more friendly.
I wanted a TV because it seems like the ideal way to show off travel commercials for locations to really sell the vacations they're offering. There's a few newspaper articles on the wall from the businesses heyday and the slob replaced Type-A's picture as employee of the month with a llama because he thought it was funny.
Type-A is absolutely the one in charge of the "waiting" space. She stocks the teas and coffees, brings in fresh flowers, and even recovered the old chairs with something a bit more bright and colorful.
I'm disappointed you can't see more of the outside from these windows. I built a whole row of townhouses!
Here you can inside the other office attached to the space - I imagine once people sign their contracts and book their trips they take a picture in front of the sign in their as a way to celebrate their upcoming vacations.
I had a lot of fun participating in this competition, officially out now but it was a fun experience!
