GameMaker: Wuh I just don't know anything about it either! I just know it's now free if your game is non-commercial (aka, you're not selling it), and Undertale was made on it! It seems good! You probably need some coding experience though!!!

Godot: Man I know even less about this one. Heard good things though!

BUNCHA RANDOM ADVICE!!!!

-Make something small first! Try making simple: a character is in a room, and exits the room. The character can look around, decide to take an item with them, can leave, and maybe the door is locked and you have to find the key. Figuring out how to code something like that, whether it is as a fully text-based game or as an RPGMaker map, should be a good start to figure out how your software of choice works!

-After that, if you have an idea, try first to make the simplest version of that idea. For my timeloop RPG, my simplest version was two rooms: first room you can walk in, second room with the King, where a cutscene automatically plays and the battle starts, you immediately die, and loop back to the first room, with the text from this point on reflecting this change. I think I also added a loop counter. This helped me figure out the most important thing: Can This Game Be Made? After that, the rest is just fun stuff. So if you want to make a dating sim, try and figure out how to add choices, and how to have affection points go up and down depending on your choices! If you want to make a platformer, figure out how to make your character move and jump and how to create a simple level! If you just want to make a kinetic visual novel with no choices, figure out how to add text, and how to add portraits! You'll be surprised at how powerful you'll feel after having figured even those simple things out.

-If you have a programming problem or just get confused, never underestimate the power of asking Google! You most likely won't be the only person asking this question, and you will learn some useful tips! If you are powerful enough, you can even… Ask people??? On forums??? Not me though.

-Yeah I know you probably want to make Your Big Idea RIGHT NOW but please. Make a smaller prototype first. You need to get that experience. Trust me.

-If you are not a womanthing of many skills like me, you might realize you need help. Maybe you need an artist, or a programmer. So! Game jams on itch.io are a great way to get to work and meet other game devs that have different strengths! Or ask around! Maybe your artist friend secretly always wanted to draw for a game. Ask! Collaborate! Have fun!!!

THE NECESSITY OF BROOMSTICKS

you compromise on halloween decorations with your witch girlfriend. silly stupid halloween fluff w no depth just witches because WHERE are the fluff fics for agatha all along.

Rio looks at the sign with distaste. “What the fuck is witches’ brew?”

You look at the sign you’re hanging in the kitchen, Fresh Witches’ Brew, and smile. It’s decorative, you bought it while you were out today, one of the many Halloween decorations you found to put around the house. “It’s… you know. Potions. Spells. Cauldrons.”

She tilts her head. “No one uses cauldrons anymore.”

You roll your eyes, stepping back from the sign. It matches well with your home, it adds a playful touch you suspect you need in sharing a home with Death. Rio is obviously displeased, though, standing with her arms crossed as she glares up at your decor. She’s always hated the way witches are portrayed in the media this time of year — pointy hats and bubbling cauldrons and, as you love to point out, riding on brooms.

‘I rode on a broom once,’ she reminded you furiously the other day when you had brought home a new throw pillow with a stereotypical green witch with her pointy hat riding on a broom. ‘It was necessity.’

“I bought something else,” you tell her and reach for your bag of decor. She puts on an uninterested expression, but cranes her neck to look over into your bag. This time, you pull out new coffee mugs. Hocus Pocus, they read, in giant orange lettering. You hand Rio one of the mugs.

“Oh,” she looks down at the mug and then up at you — it’s on the tip of her tongue, a remark about how witches aren’t like Hocus Pocus movie witches, but instead she places it on the kitchen counter and with an obligatory smile she thanks you. She gravitates close to you, wrapping an arm around your waist and watching intently as you sort through the rest of your decor.

“I think I’ll go out today and get some decorations, too,” Rio announces and presses a quick kiss to your cheek — you expect to see a black lipstick stain when you next glance in the mirror. She stands up a little straighter, watching you with unwavering resolve. It sounds unnatural and dry when she says, “You’ve put me in the Halloween spirit.”

You nod, though you’re a bit hesitant. She hardly celebrates Halloween like you do — she’s more ancient than your commercialized celebrations, she views them as silly and meaningless compared to those of past centuries. It’s a night that was once viewed with much more reverence, a night that was respected with the severity it demands. Nonetheless, you’re curious as to what she will come up with to use for decorations — it’s hard to envision her trekking through the store for a scarecrow fit for the front porch.

As you are putting up the last of your decorations, Rio comes in through the front door. She hauls something behind her, dragging it in through the door and propping it up on the couch: a life-sized plastic skeleton. Her gaze flits between you and it as she interprets your reaction, and you see the sense of achievement she holds.

“He was on sale,” Rio says, “so I got him some friends. They’re out on the patio sitting around that big cauldron you bought. I covered them in fake blood and drove one of my knives through one of their rib cages.”

Though inanimate, the look the skeleton on your couch wears on its bony face reflects Rio’s excitement. It’s charming, and you can only imagine the way the others she bought look sitting around your witches’ cauldron out on the patio. The vision has a smile pulling at you, and Rio’s pride in her purchases only seems to grow.

“I love him,” you nod to the skeleton on the couch. “Are you going to put him with the others?”

“No,” she digs around in a bag she brought in and pulls out a horror clown mask. “He gets to be a dead clown. You get your witch hats, I get my dead things.”

It’s a compromise you are willing to settle on for her. You know your days of traveling through the house at night for a glass of water have been ripped away until the skeleton is stored for next Halloween, but it’s a fair exchange if it means Rio will be more content in the face of your stereotyped witch decorations.

Rio slips the clown mask onto the skeleton and steps back to examine her work. She pulls out a dagger she keeps on her — you’ve told her that it is unnecessary to carry around knives constantly, but she never listens — and hands it to you. She nods to the skeleton. “Do the honors?”

“What, incriminate myself with clown murder?”

Rio nods enthusiastically. You approach the skeleton, and in a swift motion you drive the dagger into his chest.

“Beautiful,” Rio takes your hand when you come back to stand at her side. She pulls you close, and she leans in to kiss you before she stops and pulls away.

“What are you doing?” You ask, but Rio doesn’t respond, just disappears into the kitchen. “Rio?”

When she comes back, she holds your Witches’ Brew sign. She places it beside the skeleton and together you view the new addition to your seasonal decor.

“There,” Rio says. “Now it’s how it should be.”

A dead murderous clown selling witches’ brew on your couch — an addition to your household that you never would have suspected necessary, but one that makes your fall celebrations feel complete. Now Rio kisses you, peppering your face in more black lipstick stains, love outstanding the transience of autumn.

"Faced with declining membership, aging buildings and large, underutilized properties, many U.S. houses of worship have closed their doors in recent years. Presbyterian minister Eileen Linder has argued that 100,000 churches may close in the next few decades.

But some congregations are using their land in new ways that reflect their faith – a focus of my urban planning research. Some are repurposing their property to provide affordable housing, as the housing crisis intensifies across the country.

Take Arlington Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Virginia. In 2016, the church sold its historic stone building to the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing to construct a 6-story complex with 173 apartments, known as “Gilliam Place.” The building still houses space for the congregation, as well as La Cocina, a bilingual culinary job training facility and cafe. In Austin, Texas, St. Austin Catholic Parish is partnering with a developer to build a 29-story tower providing 200 beds of affordable student housing, in addition to new spaces for ministry.

Other houses of worship are pursuing similar projects today.

Same mission, new projects

Faith-based organizations have been building housing for many years, but generally by purchasing additional property. In recent years, however, more houses of worship are building affordable housing on the same property as the sanctuary.

This can be done in a variety of ways. Some congregations adapt the existing sanctuary and other faith-owned buildings, while others demolish existing buildings to construct a new development, which may or may not have space for the congregation. Another option is to build on excess property, like a parking lot.

Depending on how a development deal is structured, a faith-based organization may receive proceeds from the sale of its land, or from leasing their property to a developer – funds which they can then spend on ministry or on a new space for worship. If a new development includes space for the congregation, sometimes they rent out those spaces when the space is not being used for worship, which can also financially benefit the congregation.

Faith-based organizations often see these projects as a way to do “God’s work.” In some instances, they include community services beyond the housing itself.

Near Los Angeles, the Episcopal Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Placentia partnered with a nonprofit affordable housing developer – National Community Renaissance, also called National CORE – to develop 65 units for older people. The complex also includes a 1,500 square foot (140 square meter) community center. The city’s diocese has a goal of building affordable housing on 25% of its 133 properties.

For some congregations, these are mission-driven projects rooted in social justice.

In Washington, D.C., Emory United Methodist Church redeveloped its property and constructed The Beacon Center – which has 99 affordable housing units, community spaces, and a commercial kitchen that provides job training for recently incarcerated people – while preserving the sanctuary. In Seattle, the Nehemiah Initiative is working with Black churches in the Central District, a historically African American neighborhood, to redevelop its properties into affordable housing to keep residents from being displaced."

Potential to evolve

As states and cities struggle to provide affordable housing, studies have been conducted from Nashville to New York City on the amount of land faith organizations own, and their potential as housing partners.

In the D.C. metro area, for example, the Urban Institute found almost 800 vacant parcels owned by religious organizations. In California, a report from the Terner Center at University of California, Berkeley found approximately 170,000 “potentially developable” acres of land owned by religious organizations and nonprofit colleges and universities...

When thinking about the redevelopment process, Arlington Presbyterian member Jon Etherton told me, “the call from God to create, do something about affordable housing was bigger than the building itself.”"

What a weird place. It's a single family residence/Airbnb, but the real estate is trying to push it as commercial.

It's set up as an Airbnb, ready to accommodate a crowd. Look at all the seating in the huge kitchen.

Wow, this is gigantic. But, I thought that Airbnbs were mostly private places and this is communal. I do like the black cabinetry, though.

Here's a roomy dining area.

The first bedroom suite. It doesn't say that it comes furnished, but usually, if it's being sold as an Airbnb, it comes complete. This is a big place to have to buy, then furnish.

Now, up here there's another kitchen and laundry.

Round jetted tub and separate water closet.

This room looks like it has a Murphy bed and a kitchen. So, maybe the guests stay in their studio style rooms, and the family lives on the first floor? I'm confused.

No, this is a small bedroom with a bath in the hall. Must be the economy room.

Then, there's this bedroom with laundry in the bathroom. No wonder it's for sale, they thought that they were going to make a fortune during the Airbnb craze and had this place custom-built.

Then down here is a common area with a bar and games. So, why would you want to here on vacation, though? Just to stay here and chill?

More smaller bedrooms. The owner is willing to finance the sale. That usually shows desperation. Either that, or the house isn't worth what he's asking.

Kakashi’s jealousy towards pakkun

You and Kakashi have been dating for two years and recently decided to move in together. It was about 6 months into the relationship when you have out that Kakashi had not only 8 dogs but ninja dogs that could talk. 

You had a particular interest in the little laid back pug named Pakkun. 

It was a dream to come true that you and Kakashi moved in together along with being able to take care of Pakkun when Kakashi was away. 

You picked up the hobby of knitting dog clothes after you’ve seen a TikTok of dogs in onesies and pjs and other cute outfits that you couldn’t resist and decided to make clothes for Pakkun. 

Though you weren’t the best at making outfits at first, you were determined to make Pakkun the cutest outfits possible and to dress him up everyday with a different outfit. 

You had made hats, socks, dresses (though Pakkun was reluctant to wear), onesies and outfits for every holiday and you were currently knitting a Christmas pattern onesie while sitting on the couch with Pakkun on your lap while classic Christmas movies were playing on the tv. 

You heard a distant sound of the front door unlocking as Kakashi came back home from a three day mission. He walked to the living room and saw you and Pakkun snuggled up together on the couch and felt a sense of comfort of being back home but also a tinge of jealousy as he was unable to spend as much time with you as he would like because of his profession. 

He hoped that allowing Pakkun to be with you would ease your worries of being alone and the risk of Kakashi not being able to come back to you if one of his missions failed tragically. 

However, it seems like he had nothing to worry about as he often saw you sitting on the couch with Pakkun in your lap sitting like an infant with his arms folded like chicken wings smirking up at Kakashi  as you were making adjustments to his newest onesie. 

“Welcome back home” Pakkun said to Kakashi as Kakashi made his way around the couch to sit down next to you. “Seems like you’re very comfortable Pakkun” Kakashi said to Pakkun just before he lowered his mask to kiss the side of your cheek whispering in your ear “I missed you honey”. “I missed you too” you said, responding to Kakashi with a small smile as you turned to look at him. 

“Is this your latest creation?” Kakashi asked you as he examined the red and white onesie on pakkun with subtle pink bow ties within the pattern. 

“Yes I went to the craft store just the other day and saw these cute Christmas fabrics on sale and decided to make Pakkun a onesie for Christmas. I thought it would be cute to have him in it for the Christmas pictures this year” you said to Kakashi.

 For the past two years you and Kakashi decided to take pictures together every Christmas and new year as it is part of a traditional thing between the two of you. You also decided to include Pakkun in the Christmas pictures as part of being like a family.

  Kakashi was sort of reluctant to include Pakkun to the holiday pictures at first as he saw it as an intimate moment for you and him only, but he eventually learned to accept that Pakkun was being included in the majority of the holiday pictures. 

However, it was different that you were making different Christmas outfits and to have a photo shoot with Pakkun trying out different outfits. “You don’t have to worry about making him more outfits. I thought Pakkun had enough outfits for Christmas? Kakashi said solemnly. 

“I know but I wanted to make  new outfits and to have matching red outfits like the families in tv commercials “ you said as you showed him your finished pj set with the same red and white patterns.

 “Ohh” Kakashi said a little shocked that you were going to have matching outfits with Pakkun and not with him. 

“What’s wrong?” You said to Kakashi. “Nothing. I just thought that you and Pakkun are very close together, not that I’m too upset about it since I’m not here with you all the time… but I wished that we could also have our moments with just you and me”Kakashi responded. 

“Awww, you seem jealous Kakashi~ Come here” you cooed as you opened your arms to Kakashi, waiting to plop into your arms. Kakashi scoots closer until he’s in your arms and lays his head between your breasts (his favorite place btw) and hugs you back.

Kakashi leans up slightly as you begin to move to the small dark red box by the couch and offers the box to him. “Merry Christmas hun, these are just one of your gifts for now, but I think you should open it since you’re a little ‘jelly’ about Pakkun getting everything”.

 Kakashi smirks as he reaches for the box in your hand and sees numerous face masks for every holiday and to spice up his style since he always wears the same black face mask. 

Kakashi couldn’t hold his laughter as he felt the jealousy wash away after seeing all the decorative masks. He pulls his mask down and puckers you with kisses from your lips and neck, gently pushing you into the couch, leaving him on top of you. Kakashi embraces you in a warm hug and smiles “Thank you baby, I love them~”

What are your thoughts on mistletoe?

Throughout the Sunday Remus looks at the words. At the delicate lines of the t’s and the sharp edges of r’s. He memorises them, quite without intending to.

Because:

Perfectly matched, he thinks and wonders what it means. Is this, somehow, beyond reason and logic, Remus’ person? A commercially approved approximation of a soulmate, as far as such a thing could exist?

Remus felt the magic happen. Felt it in his spine and in his head equally, like it was testing the both of him: body and mind.

But - he argues with himself - but. All he knows is that he felt something. Some patented hidden unexplained thing. It could very well just be for show, something to explain the staggering price tag, something to boost sales.

Or - he approaches it from another angle yet - even if it is correct, how many of these sets could have possibly been sold? Not enough, Remus doesn’t believe, to be able to make boasts of matches of such a perfect calibre. Remus doesn’t think himself particularly special, but if finding his perfect person was that easy, surely he would have had some luck with it already.

Surely he would have found someone already.

So he goes back to the words, again and again, as he makes tea and doesn’t focus on the books he wanted to read.

(Surely, he thinks, if there was someone he needed, and who needed him in return, they would have found each other before.)

He doesn’t have extensive thoughts on mistletoe, never in a position which would have prompted him to develop them. He can’t decipher how the message is meant to come across. Flirtatious? Funny? Or is the person on the other side of the enchanted Quill (and ink and paper) really trying to get his thoughts on the aspect of it as a parasitic tree-killer?

Finally, Remus caves. In between boxing up his autumn decorations and unboxing the winter, sticking charmed snowflakes to the living room curtains and a wreath of holly and berries up on his door, he touches the writing.

From then, it just… happens. He doesn’t mean to pick up the Quill, nor dip it in the ink, nor mark the lines-letters-words on the page. He can feel the words on paper like they’d have been written into the pads of his skin, and something takes over the cowardice and writes back.

(Later, once he’s removed from the moment, he’ll tell himself he wrote back to be able to tell Aberforth he did. So he wouldn’t have to admit to being scared of a line on paper, or silly enough to believe a sales pitch. For now he thinks nothing, feels nothing but anxious excitement pulling somewhere at his navel, like a jolt of energy too rapid to contain. A spark.)

• Doesn't like PDA as much so in private he loves to be clingy and loves gifting u ¿cheesy? things he'll usually ask mitsuri what to do and what gifts to get u so she takes him shopping for u etc .

Ex: mitsuri takes genya shopping for u and genya sees and a necklace he remembers u saying u liked and might consider buying it but he buys it because he wants to make u happy, plus it's on sale and mitsuri says it's a good choice and that he should put it in a little cute box for with a note before he leaves for a mission.!!

Ex : u and genya are laying on the couch watching your favorite show / movie [ insert favorite show or movie ] genya is laying on your lap turned towards the tv and the show/ movie has went on commercial u lean down slowly kissing genya's scars u see him start to tear up so you wipe his eyes until he turns his face into your lap crying " y/n I love you , I'm so thankful to have somebody so beautiful and thoughtful and kind as you , you always make me smile , this is the best relationship I've been in , I see why I choose you as my future wife your so kind and u make me comfortable and safe , I love you , I want to spend my life with u and have kids and wake up to your beautiful face every morning , I- " just as he was about to continue the show/ movie is back on u lean down to whisper. Ex : genya is going to get some groceries and u decide to stay home and finish up some work ask he walks out the door u quickly run to the door " see you later genya , I love you " he freezes in his steps looking down his nose actually starts to bleed he turns and says " I love you too , see you later honey " you notice his nose " are you ok baby? , Your nose.." he looks down to be standing in his own blood " N-NOTHING " he turns and dashes off covering his nose " SEE YOU LATER BABE , I LOVE YOU " you chuckle as u see him wave and run faster.

He still acts if it's you guys first time saying I love u it's so cute 🌝🌝🌝🌝

Ex : you are your shared futon as genya walks in the room , towel only covering his waist below he sits and you smell the all the new products you bought him last month and everyday from that night he uses all of it and when he goes to work he makes sure to spray your favorite perfume on him just in case , plus he loves to smell good.

Last week, the Black Keys, a band best known for soundtracking car commercials and occasionally fistfighting fellow Nashville resident Jack White, canceled the entire North American leg of a scheduled arena tour without explanation. Why would a band without a major hit in years think it can sell out arenas in tertiary markets? No one can be sure, but the touring business is in trouble, and part of the reason is ego.

Going on tour used to be a non-negotiable part of a life in music—a way to interact with fans, make money, and see the world. But nowadays, artists either want to play arenas or stadiums or do a residency, playing multiple nights in one city at the same venue, à la Harry Styles and Adele. Every week, another artist goes viral on Twitter for low ticket sales, with a screengrab of a Ticketmaster seat map awash in blue.

So, who do we blame? Is this the fault of corporate mega-promoters like LiveNation (which produced the Black Keys’ tour) booking artists into the biggest venues possible, then jacking the price of everything from tickets to parking to concessions, all regardless of what the market will bear, while tightening their grip on the marketplace to the point that the Department of Justice is preparing to sue them in federal court for antitrust violations? Is it agents and managers gassing up the artist? Is it just the artist's desire to sell out these giant venues? Maybe all of the above.

If you’re going out on the road and you’re big enough to even consider booking an arena show, why not do three nights in a prestigious venue like Radio City Music Hall or the Beacon Theatre instead? It provides fans with a more intimate experience, and every night will feel full. The Black Keys eventually released a statement. They didn’t blame anyone. They didn’t whine about how hard touring is. They just said they were recalibrating after a successful European run playing venues like Brixton Academy in London and the Zenith in Paris. It was the right approach. We all know it was ticket sales, but no artist should be ashamed of taking your lumps, switching things up, and selling tickets.

Big streaming numbers look great online but don’t necessarily translate to ticket sales. A touring business has to be built, returning to the same cities every year. A career cannot rely solely on the algorithm. Being great live will get people through the door and keep them coming back. These offline collective experiences are few and far between these days; buying tickets and going to shows is essential and valuable. They just don’t all need to be in arenas.
