The Motherland was always cold—that much was a given. It was the northernmost region of Teyvat, after all, always with multiple feet's worth of freshly-fallen snow blanketing the ground in the mornings and subzero temperatures—at the eternal winter's very worst—at night. Snezhnaya was always cold.
Carriage rides across the nation could be... mildly unpleasant for that very reason.
They had some privilege, so they got to sit inside of one rather than walk alongside it or drive it, but they did not have enough prestige to warrant one of the carriages with heaters. Those, very few in stock, were generally reserved for Harbingers.
The thought made them pout a bit. Surely being the direct assistant to one was enough to warrant at least some kind of comfort in their journeys? It wasn't like they were Tartaglia's assistant; that person surely had less privilege than they did. Though... now that they thought about it, that person probably got treated better than they did. Tartaglia was exceedingly more human than Dottore was, after all. Surely he didn't treat his agents like victims-to-be? Though, it was debatable how much of a "victim" he really viewed them as.
(They were once again reminded that they really should have transferred out of the Doctor's division. However, a mentally subhuman assistant was surely suited to a physically and mentally subhuman Harbinger. Perhaps that was why they've survived for as long as they have.)
Their situation was complicated; they would gladly be the first to admit that. Somehow, they were simultaneously the most at risk employee and the least at risk employee.
On one hand, Dottore would not kill them himself unless it was truly necessary. Wounding them? Sure. It happened... sometimes. Not often, but sometimes. It was more common for the younger segments to hurt them somehow (gods, they hoped they didn't run into Lord Beta today; they were far too preoccupied to entertain him). Experimenting on them? That was even less common, but it had happened. In recent years, though, there had not been another such significant incident.
In the past, it may have been worth transferring—they thought that, had their life gone in a different direction, they would have thrived under someone like Pantalone or Pierro, where most of their work would be in an office; boring, but easy—but nowadays, it was better that they didn't give up their position... largely for the sakes of their coworkers.
(Deep down, they knew that in their current state of being, they would be bored to death working under anyone else, but they preferred not to dig too deeply into that frightening truth.
A mind such as theirs was not designed for the menial, mindless work that the lowest ranked agents did—Il Dottore himself had said this to them a multiplicity of times. They don't like to think about it, for under what conditions might Dottore feel the need to say something like that?
...They don't like to think about it.)
Maybe they were just never destined to be Tartaglia's or anyone else's assistant.
It was still cold; their lamenting changed nothing, but they sincerely wished it had. The chill settled in their bones reminded them of their lack of privilege. Maybe if they just gathered up their courage and asked, they would be able to secure a heated carriage...
They couldn't linger too much on those thoughts as their transport pulled to a stop. Absentmindedly, they tugged their coat closer to their body to block out the chill as they were escorted out and into Haeresys.
They nodded in polite acknowledgement to the agents who'd escorted them, wordlessly dismissing them once their task had been completed.
Now, they stood face-to-face with one of their older coworkers. He'd been around for a while. Sometimes they morbidly wondered who between the two of them would die first—someone was bound to.
It probably wouldn't be them, as arrogant as that may have sounded.
       "Krupp."
Krupp was a man prone to error. It was a wonder how he'd lived so long, anyway. Could they really be blamed for thinking about such morbid things? It was common for the Second's employees to die or go "missing." It was only natural, then, for them to wonder what would eventually come of Krupp's life. Would he live? Would they live? Even they could admit that it was genuinely anyone's guess.
       "[Surname]."
They only stared blankly at him for a moment, before groaning. "Ugh... okay. What did you do this time? Is it something I need to cover up?"
He raised his arms defensively at their blatant accusation. "Nothing this time, I swear."
""This time,' he says. Right. Good that you're self-aware. Well, then..." they prompted, eyebrow twitching in vague annoyance when he didn't get the hint. "What is it? I don't have all day. I have to do routine maintenance on Lord Sixth soon."
       "Yeesh, good luck."
"You know, I hope you become Lord Beta's next experiment."
He frowned. "That's not funny, [Surname]."
"...Yeah, okay. You're right. That was kind of... yeah. Sorry," they admitted apologetically, hand raking through their hair habitually. A deep sigh left their lips. "Sorry. I didn't mean that, I've just gotten really desensitized to these things. I'm surprised you haven't. Anyway, what is it that you needed from me?"
"Hmph, fine. Apology accepted." Their eyes were practically about to roll out of their skull at his smugness. He quickly changed topics: "They brought in someone from Sumeru. A girl with Eleazar."
"So I heard. Lord Dottore was muttering to himself about something like that, but I didn't ask."
"Right. Well, she's uncooperative, so they called for you since... you know, the test subjects all seem to like you. You're nice. She's also supposed to transfer under your care after she leaves this place."
"I wouldn't call myself nice, but thanks, I guess," they muttered, peering into the one-sided glass window that displayed the inside of the confined room she was in.
A little girl was in there, cowering in the corner.
       A little girl.
       That was a child.
Immediately, they tensed up. "How old is she?"
They've seen children be brought into this horrid, ugly part of the world many times before... but their reaction never changed.
"I don't see why that's important. She's going to be taken back to the main lab regardless."
Something in their chest snapped at his nonchalance. The glare they then shot him was one of the sharpest he'd seen in his time—he immediately recoiled, stammering and stumbling over his words. He was fawning. They had seen him do it a few times with other higher-ups, including Lord Beta.
It wasn't as if they were going to tear his throat out. It just annoyed them how vague he was, how nonchalant he was, but perhaps he no longer could tell the difference between mild annoyance and murderous intent.
Understandable, they supposed. The line did tend to blur after a few years under Dottore's employmemt.
"How old is she?" they asked again after taking a deep breath and gathering their composure. This time, their tone came out far more calm and collected than it had before.
It was not his fault. He did not bring her to Haeresys, so there was no point in snapping at him for it.
The shift in their tone seemed to reduce some of the tension in their coworker's shoulders. "Pretty sure she's eight, or around that age, at least."
"Archons above..." They cursed under their breath. "She's so young, what— what the hell is she doing here?"
'Where are her parents?' they wanted to ask, but bit their tongue. Knowing how the Fatui worked... they were probably dead.
In a way, they also knew the answer to why she was here; children were known to recover far faster than adults. They'd observed that phenomenon over and over and over again within the years of their employment. If any test subject ever caused trouble, it was probably someone under the age of twelve or someone who was brought in when they were that young. The older the subjects got, the weaker they grew.
"How should I know?" he scoffed, drawing their drifting attention back to him with a wave directly in front of their face. If it had been anyone else, they might have been annoyed, but they were unfortunately used to his behavior. "I don't know, [Name]. Why would I? You think Lord Beta trusts me like that? I'm not as high-ranked as you are. If anyone would know, it should be you. All I know is that she's going to be under your care."
A deep sigh left through their nose, but the more that they thought about it...
"You said she's an Eleazar patient?"
"Yep. Her scars are bad, too."
"Oh..." They pondered for a moment. "...Hmm. Now that I think about it, I do have an idea about what she's here for." They tapped their fingers on their thigh briefly in a nervous fidget, before sighing once again. "Well? Are you planning on letting me in?"
"Well, since you asked so nicely." Despite his blatant sarcasm, he obliged and fidgeted with the locks for a moment. When they released with a hiss, he backed off, but not before handing them a small medical kit. They took it from him, absently noting that she must have been wounded and refused to be treated. "Go ahead."
       "Thanks."
When they stepped in, the door slammed shut behind them. It wasn't unexpected, but it was unsettling nonetheless. They were a bit morbidly grateful that the girl was such a small child; they wouldn't have to fight tooth and nail with her like they had done so many times before with taller and stronger subjects.
Upon their entry, she immediately shuffled impossibly further into the corner, eyes blown wide with terror.
"G— go away! Don't touch me!"
"Hey, hey... shh, it's alright. I won't touch you if that isn't what you want," they soothed, settling on situating themselves on the floor a few feet away from the trembling girl. They offered a kind smile to her.
She sobbed into her hands. "Please leave me alone... get out of here!"
A bit of blood was soaking through her tattered clothes. They stifled a scowl—any negative expression they made would only scare her more, but... Archons above, would it kill their coworkers to be at least a little gentle with her? They made a mental note to... discuss their carelessness with them.
After all, if they hurt her badly enough, she'd die.
That would inconvenience Dottore, so... technically, it was within their area of concern. Surely they couldn't be written up for aggression towards and potential violence against their allies—after all, they would only have been doing their job!
For now, though, they needed to focus on this poor girl and her evident wound.
       "Honey, you're bleeding."
       "I don't care! Go away!"
"Please let me look. I promise I won't hurt you. I just want to see."
"No, no," she cried, trembling furiously like a leaf in the wind. "Please, please just leave me alone..."
A deep silence settled momentarily, only filled by the girl's weak cries and sniffles. She was the first to break it.
       "I don't want to die."
"That won't happen," they reassured. It was... more or less of a lie.
It went quiet again. The girl wordlessly shifted, moving a bit out of the corner. They took that as their sign to approach her. Any movements they made were gentle and purposeful as to not frighten her further or rile her up again.
When they finally got close enough to her, their fingers moved skillfully and quickly, rolling her shirt up just enough to expose the wound on her side. She winced when the cool air hit it.
"Shh, you're okay... what's your name?"
"It's... um— my name is Collei."
They smiled kindly, taking out a small tube of antibacterial ointment from the kit handed to them by their coworker and lathering her cut with it. "Hi, Collei. I'm [Name], okay? I'm going to be responsible for you from here on out."
Now that they were closer to her, they could see the tears glistening in her eyes.
Despite her fear, she nodded. The kindness in their face soothed her. It was as if they were an angel descended from the heavens specifically to protect her. It was so, so impossibly hard not to trust such a compassionate face.
       "Okay."
After wrapping her wound in gauze tight enough so that it would not unravel but loose enough to nor cause her any discomfort, they allowed her shirt to fall back into place.
Their hand dared to gingerly reach towards her face; it was not particularly surprising when she flinched back with the smallest, hardly perceptible whimper. Any movement halted. They simply waited to see if she would initiate the contact that they had attempted or if she would continue to reject it.
Then, she slowly—hesitantly—relaxed, some of the tension leaving her body as she leaned forward.
The smile they had offered her remained, it even grew a bit, as their fingers softly brushed some of the hair away from her face. It was perhaps akin to what a parent might do to soothe their frightened child. A hint of melancholia could be seen in their expression, but Collei was quite possibly too young to properly understand the wistful sadness they held.
She did recognize that they were sad in some way. Maybe that was why she was so inclined to trust them—their emotions were tangible.
"I have to leave, alright?" they murmured to her. "Some people are going to come later and take you somewhere else. Please let them. They won't hurt you if you listen, okay? And if they do, you tell me, because they absolutely are not permitted to use unnecessary force."
"An— and I'll see you again?"
"Yeah, of course. I'm very busy, so it might be a few days until you do, but you will. Try to be patient, okay?"
       "...Okay."

DBDA Cast Appreciation Week, Day 6: Joshua Colley
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monty, Monty, Monty... the crow that "never asked to be human" and went through the full spectrum of human emotion within a few days. Monty, the king of doe eyes, of pining looks and smitten smiles. Monty, who reminded us what it's like to feel things for the first time, the intensity and the brutality of it. Monty, who stole the show every time he walked on screen. Monty, my beloved.
Monty did not get as much screen time as the core four, but I fell in love with his character so incredibly quickly and deeply anyway. That moment after the kiss, where Monty's face slowly falls as he realizes the full context of the situation, always feels like someone is squeezing my heart like a sponge. Every single time my heart breaks alongside Monty's and as much as I love Edwin's journey that leads him to Charles, there is a part of me that wishes Monty's heart didn't need to get broken in the process.
Making gifs of Monty is both really hard and so much fun because there is so much energy to Josh's performance; Monty is always moving and I want to catch all the little moments too, the lip trembles, the eyebrow raises, the twirly turns and breaking smiles. Josh's energy radiates through all of his scenes, and it's incredible! So thank you, Josh, for breathing life into Monty and for loving him as much as we do! Your Monty will always be precious to us 🖤

Next up in the Sabzerus designs: Tighnari and Cyno!
I know this is unrendered, but I already committed to not rendering these two until I finish Haitham and Kaveh's designs which, in hindsight, is difficult atm because I have more ideas about Collei's design over them. With the recent release of Sethos, it seems that it would have to wait until I finish his and Collei's designs when I get to them. I'm writing a fic now lol so it the wait is probably quite long.
Tighnari's is relatively easy and I'm so pleased with the results! He finally looks put together and not... odd, palette-wise (to put it mildly). His clothing is based on the traditional dress of the Kabyle people, an Amazigh ethnic group from northern Algeria, with some modernized touches (I used references from modern-day photos of Kabyle dress!). The highlight is the burnous (hooded cloak), originally a symbol of resistance in the Algerian War of Independence and now a garment worn in special occasions such as religious festivals. I think it would be appropriate of Tighnari to wear one for his Sabzerus dress.
Cyno is so far the most difficult one to design. I have 0 references outside of speculative fashion plates and museum pictures of jewelry. I struggled so much with the outfit components, but I persevered and this is the result. His clothing is based on what Ancient Egyptian high priests of the New Kingdom wear. The long shendyt (kilt) and shawl are made from linen, which in higher social classes are woven so finely they appear as though transparent. Not just luxurious, but also airy for comfort against the desert heat.
Previously on: Nahida + Wanderer | Nilou
As usual, close-ups and some more thoughts under the cut:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tighnari's canon design is incredibly confusing to me, because unlike some other Sumeru characters I have absolutely no idea which part of Algerian (or Arab, but that's a very wide ballpark) dress it's supposed to be based on. Where is that white fabric wrap even from? However, when I looked at his hoodie, I realized that it's probably supposed to be a "modernized equivalent" of a burnous. Probably.
The belt accessory is actually an article I always see on women's robe kabyle, but never men's. I think they look neat and Tighnari wears belt accessories, so I incorporated them. (If any of you seeing this are Kabyle or Amazigh, do tell me more of the nuances. Are they exclusively feminine accessories? I also read that Kabyle women tie their sashes differently depending on marital status, but does this only apply to sashes or does it also apply to these cord belts?)
It's not very obvious, but the burnous has a split back, so Tighnari's tail can poke out comfortably. It's also pretty fun to try and incorporate elements of his official design, such as the paw-print gloves, the boots, and the turtleneck. To me, Tighnari without a turtleneck is unimaginable for some reason.
I've been tentatively calling Cyno's design "the one time Cyno puts some effort into doing his hair". The little braids aside, his hair is actually in a half-up bun. I really should draw these refs from more angles... and this is unimportant in the grand scope of things, but I gave him some beef. My guy deserves more beef (and I apologize for covering his chest regardless).
The wesekh (wide collar) is made from gold and various precious gems/minerals. This one has gold, carnelian, and turquoise. The narrow golden beads on the outermost layer represents beetles, which in turn symbolize resurrection (i.e. Hermanubis' indwelling within Cyno).
I've always been baffled at the fact that Cyno wears mostly black, but would prefer for my design to contain elements from his actual design, so I kept the sash and helmet black. However, I do know that too much dyed linen (and animal fibers) are inappropriate to wear in temples. Unless you are a funeral priest, where you wear a leopard skin as a part of the rites. Then again, Cyno's biggest inspiration is Anubis, so perhaps he could get some leeway here...
To continue with the flower theming, I chose the Sumeru Rose for Cyno and Tighnari wears the yellow flower on his canon clothes once again. It's never mentioned in game, but I'd like to think the Sumeru Rose is among the national flowers of Sumeru along with the Padisarah, so it's appropriate for the General Mahamatra to wear it.
Lastly, I gave them matching double piercings. Tighnari wears them on his right ear (as per his canon design), and Cyno on his left. Another matching set :)

Let me in

“Let me in…”
The muffled sounds of Tighnari’s continuous chanting of ‘let me in’ is heard from right outside of your shared bedroom, as you laugh. You could practically imagine the expression he holds, eyebrows furrowed in annoyance yet adoration, nose scrunched as he tries to open the door.
“You’ve done something and you’re not admitting to it!” Your voice leaves a slight echo in the room as you pull the covers of the bed higher towards your chin, giggles escaping your form as you hear the jiggling of the doorknob stop for a second, then coming back again with more chaos.
“I’ll buy you some more soon… let me in (Y/n)!”
While you know he’d keep his word, you couldn’t help but see if he’d admit to what he’s done to your precious muffins that you had made with Collei last week. You had searched for its whereabouts in the fridge, until you found one of the muffin paper wrappers on the counter, finally finding out who–which you knew earlier as only the two of you lived in the house–ate your precious little muffins.
“It isn’t the matter of buying it, it had Collei and my efforts in it, and you scarfed it down with no mercy!” The giggles in your voice are audible that you could hear Tighnari sigh out a breath of exasperation.
“I’m sorry that I ate the muffins, we can make some more today or tomorrow, is that a deal?”
On your part, you felt like it was a good deal; however, you still had wanted to give a little tease to him in response to his constant affectionate teasing to you everyday.
But bless your heart, as you open the door, your boyfriend jumps towards you as you both end up on the floor, your face smothered in the crook of his neck as he gives you a hard but loving pinch to the tip of your ear as you both laugh in mirth.
A few minutes pass and the two of you stay like this, and you’d honestly like to move, but the two of you know that this is much more comfortable, and rather stay like this for a little longer.
After all, who could refuse free cuddles?

Timaeus Isn’t the Only One
Windbloom with Genshin men ft. Cyno, Albedo
Drabbles - GN Reader (No Pronouns) - Fluff (slightest angst in Albedo’s but ends with fluff) - Romantic - SFW
Part 2 for Cyno
It seems that Timaeus isn’t the only one who's gained a love interest this Windbloom festival…
Tumblr media
Cyno
Cyno had several agendas for his trip to Mondstadt. Of course his principal reason was Collei’s protection and accompaniment, though another not so secret motivation added to his decision. How could this reason be anything other than Genius Invokation TCG?
Not only did he have the opportunity to commission a custom card back from the famous Calx, but Cyno would also be able to spend his precious vacation hours playing against folks in Mondstadt’s heart of TCG; the Cat’s Tail.
As soon as Collei had gone off with her local friends to catch up and see the sights, Cyno set off to the Cat’s Tail, his deck in hand, hoping to find some worthy challengers in the renowned tavern. Upon entering, Cyno took no time to tarry, immediately challenging the first person he saw with a deck to a duel. The Mondstadtian man in question was naturally a little shocked to be issued such a sudden challenge, but accepted none the less.
It took all of three minutes for Cyno to beat him. After accumulating three more consecutive wins in the next ten minutes or so, Cyno’s table had gathered quite the crowd. The tavern was ablaze with excitement, many players afraid and in awe of the evident master before them.
It was around this time that you entered the Cat’s Tail, planning to catch up with Margret and maybe stretch your card game muscles with a few rounds of Genius Invokation. What you didn’t expect was a crowd of people surrounding one table, holding their breaths and intently watching a game as if it was a chess tournament.
“Hey Prince, Shuyun, what’s going on? Was there a special event today that I wasn’t aware of?”
Prince meowed in response, Shuyun translating,
“Not exactly, but it seems we have a new house champion. And an outlander, at that.”
“A house champion? Is he really that good?”
“He’s beaten some of our best players in mere minutes. I’d say he has earned such a title.”
You’re gaze swept over the crowd again, hoping to see the illustrious card player between the audience members. The crowd cheered, jumping around and indicating that another game had been won by the champion. As the audience parted slightly for the small celebration, you caught a glimpse of the winner, a man dressed in Sumerian clothing, with a stern face that presently held a small prideful smile.
You turned back to Prince when he nudged your arm with his soft head, watching as he pointed his paw and nudged his head toward the man.
“You know what? Maybe I will Prince,” you took a moment to pat his head, being mindful not to topple his tiny hat, before making your way to the crowded table.
“Would anyone else like a game?” The champion asked the crowd, face still flat, though his eyes shone with a subtle sense of fun.
“I’d love to,” you said, sitting down opposite.
“Excellent, let’s begin.”
The game was long and gruelling, with both sides losing two characters and using almost all their cards before the final round. The audience was impatiently watching, eyeing off each player's determined expression and holding their breaths as you played a final card, allowing you to destroy your opponent's last character with your own on only two health points.
The crowd cheered loudly surprised and excited to see someone beat the incredible stranger.
"You play with great precision and thought in your actions, I willingly accept my defeat."
"Thank you, but it was super close, I think that if my deck had been shuffled a little differently I wouldn't have won,"
"Do not underestimate your own skill. But we can test your theory in another game. I am Cyno, the adventurer."
You introduce yourself accordingly and shake hands to initiate another game. The two of you go back and forth in several more rounds of TCG, each losing and winning in equal ratios. You continue on for so long that the crowd eventually dissipates, you and Cyno the only ones left in the tavern.
Cyno used a final elemental skill, destroying your last character card and ending what was likely the hundredth round. You sighed in satisfaction, it had been a long time since you'd had this much fun playing cards with anyone before. Cyno seemed to share your sentiment, sitting still at the table and not bothering to pack away his deck.
"I would suggest playing another game, but I think the staff want us to leave so they can close," You laugh, slowly packing your dice into a little bag.
"Yes, it seems we are inconveniencing the staff. Although I will be back tomorrow. I hope you will come as well,"
"For sure, I've had so much fun playing against you Cyno. You're really amazing at this game, although I think I might be able to one-up you next time," You tease.
"Well, we will T-see-G." Cyno's usual stoicism did not shift with the uttering of the pun, though it did cause your own head to jerk in a chuckle.
"Pfft. I didn't take you as the kind to make jokes Cyno, but it seems to be a CARDinal part of your personality." You laugh, holding up a random card from your deck.
Cyno felt his subtle smile widen and his heart grow in kind. You laughed at his joke. You even returned it.
"Come have dinner with me."
Your head shot up at the sudden request, mind racing and mouth agape. Did... did this guy just ask you out?! Surely he was just making a request to spend time together platonically, right? You hardly knew each other after all, even though you had great chemistry and shared a lot of interests. Not to mention he was attractive, and his hair looked so silky. Okay now you were just complimenting him.
You know what? Whether Cyno was asking you on a date or just as a friend, you wouldn't mind.
"Sure, that sounds great," You smile.
Tighnari and Collei were beyond surprised when Cyno told them he went on a date the next day.
Albedo
You walked through the main square of Mondstadt, admiring the festive decor and lively atmosphere of the Windbloom season. Strolling past the fountain, you spotted Sucrose and Albedo conversing at the alchemy station. A smile lit up across your features, it has been a while since you’d spoken to the alchemists, especially with how busy they seemed to be recently. Your hopefully secret crush on Albedo also meant that you were always looking for a chance to talk, especially during the festival of love. Deciding to take the opportunity, you walked over to say hello.
“Sucrose, Albedo!” You called, turning the two toward you. “How are you?”
“Y/n, we’ve been well. I hope you can say the same?” Albedo smiled politely.
“Yes, I’ve been well enough. I feel like I’ve barely seen you guys though, have you been busy?”
“Yes, my position as Windbloom ambassador this year has certainly kept me very busy, not to mention this strange prophecy we’ve come across.” Sucrose explained, sounding a little out of breath, but satisfied with her work. “How has your Windbloom been? Is there anything I can do to help make it better?”
“My Windbloom has been just fine, thank you Sucrose. A little too regular, if anything. I hope that with all your work you’re still finding time to enjoy yourself. I would believe that as Windbloom ambassador, it’s most important that you are enjoying the festival. Otherwise, how can you help other people to enjoy it too?”
“An excellent postulate, I too believe that Sucrose’s own happiness will affect her ability to help others with theirs. After all, a gloomy person would not do much to sooth your own worries.” Albedo reasons.
“Th-thank you, both of you,” Blushing at both of your concern, Sucrose adjusts her glasses bashfully. “When you said your Windbloom has been ‘regular’, what do you think would make it more impactful? Perhaps there is something I can help you with after all?”
“It’s nothing you’d be able to change Sucrose, but thank you,” you sigh, glancing wistfully across the square at the smiling, bustling citizens. “I suppose a festival of love and friendship just makes the lonely feel a little more alone. But it’s nothing big. I’ve got my own work and things I need to do, as I know you both have, so I’ll leave you to it. It was nice to see you both!”
“Yes, and you as well,” Albedo responded, although both he and Sucrose had a crinkle of worry in their brow.
“Um, we’ll see you later Y/n, I promise!”
You bid the duo goodbye, smiling and slightly regretting saying anything about yourself. You didn’t mean to turn the conversation so somber, hopefully Sucrose and Albedo still kept their lively attitudes despite your sudden sob story.
Although you did truely feel the effect of the events surrounding you everywhere you went. Although the festive air was fun, the novelty ran out quickly for you when you didn’t have anyone to celebrate with. Your friends were busy with their romantic pursuits, and only chatted with you shortly to update you on their success. Of course you were happy for them, but it stung a little to know you didn’t have the same.
Seeing Albedo today hadn’t helped your hurt. Despite the friendly conversation, speaking to him so casually only served as a reminder of what you knew deep down would never be. Albedo was a serious and studious, he would never have time for something so trivial as romance.
You sighed as you entered your home, deciding not to keep throwing the hapless pity party and get some work done instead. You would just have to get over it, you huffed. It’s not like anything was changing anytime soon.
You sat down across the couch, slouching after completing your work, staring into space and trying not to let the sensation of loneliness creep back now that you weren’t up and about. A knock at the door brought you from your stupor, pushing the doubting thoughts back for a moment as you curiously approached the door. You certainly weren’t expecting any guests, but what you saw when you opened to door couldn’t have been expected.
Albedo stood outside your home with a gentle smile and a full bouquet of winding, snow-white flowers the likes of which you had never seen. Your mouth gaped open as you blinked, your chest light as you tried to hold back your imagination. Surely this couldn’t be what your heart desperately hoped it would be?
“Albedo, what are you doing here?”
“Why, I simply wanted to visit you. As well as take the opportunity to present you with my Windbloom. I hope you will accept it,”
Albedo carefully handed the vine-like flowers over to you, your arms cradling them as you admired the otherworldly blooms.
“Did- did you create these?” You asked, wonderment filling your voice and reflecting in your eyes.
“Yes, I believed it was only reasonable to present you with something unique. Something to reflect how I feel... for you.” Albedo's calm features never faltered, his eyes only dropping for a second in what you could only guess was a rare shyness.
“What- I mean why-,” you tried to breathe, not quite sure how to ask the question burning in your mind. You settled with a whisper, “Why are you giving these to me?”
“Is that not obvious? I apologise if I have not been as upfront as I would have preferred, but I did not want to cause you any grief in the case you didn’t reciprocate my feelings,” Albedo explained, voice softer than ever. “I find myself infatuated with you, Y/n. You occupy more of my thoughts than any other, and I feel myself drawn to you at all times. It was only earlier today when you commented on your lonesomeness that I realised it was worth my taking a chance to make both of us happier for it. So if you’ll allow me, would you accompany me to dinner tonight?”
You smiled wide, bashfully taking Albedo’s hand in your own as you stepped closer to him.
“I would love nothing more. Thank you, Albedo. You’ve no idea how much this means, how much I like you,”
“If it is anything like how I feel for you, I’d imagine you are quite spellbound at the moment,” the alchemist chuckled, taking your hand in his and caressing the skin.
It was only that morning that you found yourself tired of the Windbloom festival. Yet now, you wished it would never end.

#Mailroom Open! If you still have open slots/want to do this <3
I'd like this letter to go to Tighnari, please and thank you! Subtle yandere and SFW. Thank you again!
The contents of the letter are as follows:
"Tighnari!
Things have been absolutely marvelous in Mondstadt. Your idea to visit my family was genius. It's been a long time since I've been back home. My mother asked why you didn't accompany me, isn't that cute? She called you her future son in law.. Then asked when we'd be giving her grandbabies.
I have been missing you to pieces though, my love. You would love a few of my friends over here, they're interested to learn more about you! Well.. aside from one. He seemed a bit upset when I gushed about you. But never mind that! How are things back home with you? How is Collei? Please let her know that Amber sends her regards. But most importantly! How are you?
I also hope that the package I sent gets to you safely. I thought you'd really appreciate my finds.
Love you so much!
-♡"
The package itself is smaller in size, yet still larger than the envelope sent. Inside the box are new glass storage jars, made for storing herbs and spices. Aside from the jars, there's a hand woven bracelet. It matches with Tighnari's typical attire, and is woven in order to prevent fraying or breakage. There's another, tiny sticky note at the bottom of the box with a doodle of Tighnari and his partner. They're stick figures and holding hands.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
꩜ Letter Content: GN! Reader x Slight Yan! Tighnari, SFW, no gendered terms for reader, possessiveness from Tighnari, lmk if I missed out anything ! ꩜ Delivery Notes: Tighnari was absolutely covered in pollen when I picked up his package in Sumeru, HAHA! However, judging from his droopy ears and tail, I think he really misses you :( ꩜ Wanna write a love letter yourself? Check out it out here!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sent back to you is a small, lovingly handmade, woven basket that you recognise to be the handiwork of Tighnari. Weaved between the strips of dried Kalpalata lotus vines are cute tiny flowers native to the forested area around Gandharva Ville. There’s a ribbon tied around the handle in your favourite colour that’s lightly scented with the perfume of Sumeru roses.
A dark green fabric that matches his fur colour sits nicely atop the contents of the basket, it’s embroidered with the stick figure drawing of you and Tighnari. The Tighnari stick figure is made of thread in a light emerald green that’s the colour of his eyes while your doodle is woven in a gorgeous shade identical to yours. There are extra little hearts floating around the two of you in the embroidered picture too, how cute!
Removing the embroidered cloth cover from the basket, you first take his letter out. Reaching into the envelope, the first thing you pull out is pressed Nilotpala lotus petals. They retain a delicate faint glimmer of how they shone when they bloomed at night and infuse the parchment in the envelope with their light floral scent. His reply is written in his usual scrawling handwriting you see in his research journals but there's an underlying tenderness present. You think he makes a noticeable effort to ensure that his words are more legible, especially just for you. His response reads:
Tumblr media
“My dearest lotus,
It’s about time you wrote back! Just before I got your letter, I was going to mail you a lengthy lecture regarding important safety tips while one is travelling. Really, with your extended silence, I was worried about you for a bit, lotus. It's good to hear you're enjoying your time in Mondstadt with your family though, how’s the flora diversity there? I do hope you bring me back some flower and mushroom samples.
Collei too sends Amber her very enthusiastic regards, she was so excited at the mention of Amber, the way her eyes lit up was precious, I wish you were there to see it, lotus. Now, I’m sure with your keen eye you’ve noticed all the flowers included in the basket. I can’t take all the credit, it was Collei who helped to collect the flowers for the basket. She came back with so many that we spent almost a whole afternoon just picking out the best ones for you. Seriously, you should’ve seen the way she came into the hut with her arms full of flowers, I didn’t even know how she could see in front of her!
Also, new jars! You know me so well, how did you figure out I was running out of them? Gods, thinking about the hassle of procuring them gave me such a headache. You really are my saviour, gods, I miss you so much… Please come back soon, lotus, I’m getting sick of longing for you. Your lovely handmade bracelet has done well in curbing the urge to go over to Mondstadt to sweep you back up in my arms. It’s beautiful and I appreciate all the work you put into such a sweet gift, lotus. I’d never take off the bracelet, ever.
I’d hate to nag but do take care of yourself alright, it worries me to be so far away from you. (this part is written in a small font, but squinting, it reads out) Especially where you can meet with all sorts of people… and that friend of yours you mentioned. Ugh, I feel my headache coming back.
Help me pass my well wishes on to your mother, and tell her that calling me her “future son-in-law” is not too far off from the truth. Write more often to me alright, lotus? Hearing from you helps keep my longing in check. Come back soon!
Ever awaiting your return,
-Tighnari -”
Tumblr media
Tucked underneath, is a sealed bag of dried mushrooms, the kind that Tighnari favours the most. It warms your heart to know that he’s willing to part with the stash of his favourite shrooms to make sure you’re eating well in another region. Tacked on are some collated recipes for the ingredient, with little notes scribbled in the margins on how the default recipe can be improved after gathering feedback from many many many rounds of him cooking it for you. Everything is so sappily domestic that you’re sure your mother would coo over how adorable the two of you are when she finds out about his gift.
And finally, there’s a small box at the side, crafted in the form of a lotus using expertly preserved Kalpalata lotus petals. Gingerly opening up the petals reveals an exquisite ring resting in the centre, woven from sturdy plant stems entwined with golden fibres that almost seem to shine. The stems are fortified with a sheer shimmer of dendro (no doubt Tighnari’s) so that it endures, staying evergreen. Included is a tag reading: “A temporary placeholder for an engagement ring, so that no pest steals you from my side while you’re away ♡”
Slipping it on, it fits perfectly, snugly home on your ring finger. You’ve never told him your ring size though, lucky guess?

Here are some more headcanons/story based on this post
I expanded the idea a little bit in the tag on that post but I will rewrite them here as well :D
1/?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
•Kinich, Ororon and Layla are veerrrry sibling coded to me, I mean look at them!!! Green-Purple-Blue!!!!
•Kinich is the oldest out of the three, as I think either his mother or (more likely) his father had either affair OR they were split after their births, Ororon left in the mountains and Layla by the dessert with Kinich left in their "care" untill the obvious happened.
•pointy ears kinich 🤝 Layla + bat ears Ororon
•Kinich already "corrupted" Ororon into jumping from high places and enjoying it so it's just matter of time before he convinces Layla that it's very very fun to do that.
•Claymore+Bow+Sword users
•None of them connect any of the dots untill Wanderer points it out to Layla later (Layla being 4ggravate fav daughter-in-law ((collei/layla)) at family dinner asking her if the two strangers were distant family and her being like "huh????"
°"The two looked like you"
"I didn't notice, but no that's not my family"
"If you say so"
• What happened, was that Kinich and Ororon visit Sumeru and met sleep deprived Layla when she was in the market and nearly stumbled into them and somehow they got into heated conversation because Ororon mentioned that her soul is full of dual stars but not broken like his. She was confused but did try to politely tell him that humans don't have stars for souls with him just staring at her being like but you do
•Kinich just watched on resigned to the fact that they will probably be longer in the market then either of them planned and miss their chance to get at least one decent room at the inn. Wonderer watched from the shadows as well, ready to defeat the newcomers if they tried anything. Not that he cared but Collei would have been sad of something happened to Layla and he could have prevented it so might as well
•Ajaw did appear to sew more chaos but took one look at three and took himself into a time out muttering something about there being "three of them now"
•After lengthy discussion that lead to nowhere, they went they separate way (Wanderer stopping Layla from following as Kinich dragged Ororon away) they thought they could forget about it.
°Layla kept on thinking about Wanderers comments because the more she thought about it (between the precious moments of free time) the more she become more confused, because it was so so easy to argue with random stranger then it was with classmates she knew for years, so maybe there was something to it? But she didn't remember ???
°at night, with her chains broken she would search for them to demand answers but she couldn't find them anymore, it was making her restless thus she threw herself even more into her studies, hoping (deluding herself) that if she made enough of free time maybe she could find them again?
•After the disastrous meeting in the market, kinich decided that it might be best to explore areas outside the city and see what they have in store for them and hey maybe they find some asphids on this side of the world as well?
°they find mushrooms. They fly for some reason. But also ajaw was even more grumpy then usual and avoiding Kinich questions, was there something about the mystery girl that he was keeping away from them?
•Somehow all three meet again in the port ormos by pure coincidence. Layla wished to buy something for Collei (and amber, she wanted to make good impression on her girlfriend girlfriend) and Kinich dragged Ororon over to the port to find temporary lodgings so they can re stock for their journey back to natlan.
•Once again, market seems to be their chance meeting, Ororon is back at the inn, resting before the journey ahead and Kinich and Ajaw are out in the market getting supplies they need.
•They bump into Layla by one of the trinket stalls,
°"oh! It's you"
"Hello"
"......"
"......"
"Ugh, really kinich?! Just say something instead of staring at her!!!! Or better yet!!! Introduce her to the Almight-"
"Sorry about him I put him in timeout so he shouldn't bother us.... Would you like to talk somewhere else?"
"Sure?"
•The stall owner is like bruh
•they get to the inn and on the way there Kinich introduces himself and Ororon, telling her not to worry about Ajaw and that Ororon is just like that sometimes. She tells him not to worry about it but she is curious as to why the two are all the way here away from natlan?
°"Ororon is a recent widow, thought this might cheer him up"
"Oh! I'm sorry I didn't know-"
"Don't mention it to him and you be fine"
•Ororon is surprised to find Layla with Kinich but adapts pretty quickly and they get talking whilst Kinich starts packing their supplies. They talk pretty well into the night at which point they do offer Layla the spare bed in the room for her to sleep in or to walk her back all the way to sumeru city.
•She chooses to stay the night
•And in the morning as all three eat their breakfast, they agree to walk Layla back to sumeru city before they depart back to Natlan. The journey back is nice, long but nice and at the end of it they agree to meet again, be it in natlan, desert or somewhere else.
°
"You sure you have everything? We won't stop walking until we reach the pyramid" Kinich eyed Ororon, taking mental stock of all the supplies they shared and wondering if he should bring more just in case.
"I do" Ororon nodded, ready to go back to Natlan. He appreciated the trip and Kinich not-worry-worryness about him but he really wished he could go back to his vegetable fields and his asphids.
And he remembered about the light novels for granny as well, so she probably won't kill them.
"Then let's go, earlier we leave sooner we come back"
Nodding, Ororon was quick to follow, peace settling over them as they kept walking. The quite footsteps that were following them still a distance away.
"Do you think she will catch up to us before we get to the desert village?"
"...she???"
"Layla? The girl from Port? Didn't you notice???"
"No?"
"oh... Are we waiting for her?"
"we are now"

OH MY GOD, THIS CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD
I've been doing this event little by little and finished the storyline a few days ago (I really liked the final part btw), and I thought the Epilogue was just going to be a small scene. I decided to finally do it today.
And I find these two?! I almost had a heart attack! It's been so long. Man... I really miss them, I miss having fun Mond events. Just the other day I was doing Kaeya's hangout event again because I wanted to see him.
I burst out laughing at Kaeya trying that drink lol. He's always the one poking fun at others so this was refreshing. It's also nice seing Kaeya and Jean together, we don't see them often hanging out.
I saw Collei too, it's nice that she and Kaeya are friendly. Then Mona for some lore. Then we finally get to "Hat Guy" and Durin and... wait, Fischl?!
Then Klee and Albedo come out of nowhere! (well, Kaeya did mention them...) Are they reuniting characters that appeared in previous Summer events?
But we do get interesting info with Wanderer here about the Durin of Dragonspine. This looks like it's setting up a future event and it sounds really exciting.
Tumblr media
(Klee is so precious)
Honestly? What a cool epilogue 😄 I didn't think this story was going to be that important.
Also since I'm writing about this event... I did like it. The puzzles were fun, it was entertaining to explore it. I just wanted to do it slowly for once, so sorry I'm a bit late with this lol

Happy Birthday Tighnari!
Tumblr media
Happy birthday love of my life, thank you for being my comfort character for two years now. Here's a little drabble in celebration--
《Contents: Just wholesome stuff, platonic cuddling, platonic Collei, Cyno, and Tighnari, just them being a found family, amatuer writing forgive me please》
Tumblr media
In the lush green of the Avidya forest, the sun rose as it did any other morning and life began to waken. Citizens of Sumeru city awoke and began to tend to their daily duties, students at the Akademiya prepared for another day of research, and merchants in Port Ormos prepared themselves for today's sales. And as always, in Gandharva Ville Forest Watchers and rangers woke up to tend to the forest. Everything was going as it usually did in Sumeru. But, unbeknownst to the average citizen, today was a bit different...
One to rise with the sun, Tighnari surprisingly found himself still deep in slumber, when he would normally already be up and attending to his morning patrol. Or perhaps he'd be scolding another one of his colleagues for eating another brightly colored piece of fungi (which had regrettably become a daily occurence). But no, for the previous night he had stayed up to an ungodly hour after losing track of time while working. Lost in deep sleep, Tighnari didn't hear the sound of his fellow Forest Watcher's voices stopping by. Nor did he hear the hushed voices of his student and best friend.
"Cyno- are you sure this is okay...?*
"Yes. Don't worry, he'd never get mad at you."
"What about you??"
"Just come on-"
Carefully creeping into Tighnari cottage, Cyno and Collei saw that as they thought, Tighnari was still fast asleep. While Collei was quite sheepish, Cyno was filled with determination to surprise his best friend. Carefully, being sure not to startle him, he gently shook Tighnari's shoulders in order to wake him up. Collei simply stood back, anxious yet somewhat excited to suprise her master on his special day.
Tighnari stirred slightly as Cyno woke him up, his eyes fluttering open. Once his gaze focused, he sat up groggily and rubbed his eyes. He blinked a few times, his gaze flickering between Cyno and Collei.
"...wha-"
"Happy birthday, Master Tighnari!!"
"Indeed, happy birthday."
Tighnari took a moment to process what was happening, before the realization hit him. He rubbed his eyes once again, before looking back up at the two, who both had elated expressions.
Today was his birthday, wasn't it?
"The other Forest Watchers dropped off a bunch of gifts for you. Sorry we didn't wake you up sooner- but it's your birthday, and we thought it would be good to let you sleep." Collei explained with a sheepish smile. Tighnari turned to the table sitting by his bed, and saw that there was an assortment of wrapped gifts for him.
"I've taken the day off from my General duties. We were planning a group dinner at Lambad's later in order to celebrate. For now though, I brought my own gift for you." Cyno held up a small box that was wrapped with gold wrapping paper with a white leaf pattern.
"Sorry for waking you up, master! We'll leave you alone if you want!"
"We just wanted to surprise you, and doing so would be difficult while you were awake due to your hearing."
Tighnari stared at the two for a few moments, taking in the sight of the two most precious people in his life. A small smile graced his lips, his expression softening.
"You two..."
Before they could register his words, Tighnari grabbed both of them by the arm and pulled them down onto the bed with him. Collei let out a soft squeak while Cyno's breath simply hitched. Tighnari chuckled softly, hugging both Cyno and Collei tightly. One arm was wrapped around Collei with his hand resting on her head while the other snaked around Cyno's shoulders. Both were a bit flustered at the sudden physical affection from the man, but it certainly wasn't unwelcome.
"Thank you," he said softly, hugging them a bit tighter. "I'm glad you guys are here."
Both Collei and Cyno internally melted at Tighnari's words, and both of them then smiled as well.
For the rest of the morning, the three simply stayed in bed, cuddling and talking about whatever came to mind, smiling and laughing the morning away. In this blissful moment, Tighnari thanked the gods above for blessing him with this family. And he hoped that every birthday he had in the future would be spent with them.

Thanks for reading!

5 Star Collei
It’s me again. Back on my nonsense. Did Amber and Chongyun; let’s go for a third.
Stay with me now. We are abandoning Dendro bow user.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is pyro catalyst behavior. I’m giving her black flames and we’re utilizing her curse for character growth purposes and creativity. This power is still inside of her; it’s just that if the seal breaks then Collei’s only option is to control it or die, and she’s too precious to die. Her ascension stat is Elemental Mastery
Normal attack, Muscle Memory- Collei can launch five mid ranged consecutive attacks that deal pyro damage with the fifth hit taking the form of a dark serpent that strikes forward. This hit is considered piercing damage.
Charge attack, Lethal Dose- Collei consumes a set amount of conjures the fangs of a dark serpent around an enemy before closing its jaw, dealing pyro damage.
Skill, Mark of the deev- Collei unleashes a wide blast of pyro and enters the Karmic Ember state for a set time on and off field and lasts 16 seconds. The cool down on the skill is 24.
Enemies hit with this attack will receive A Mark of Pyre. Up to 8 enemies can be marked at a time. While in Karmic Ember state, all enemies marked will take Pyro Damage in set intervals every 4 seconds that scales off of Collei’s Elemental Mastery. Enemies can only hold one mark at a time and disappears when Karmic Ember State ends.
Additionally, if a marked enemy has dendro applied to them, a unique Burning Damage, known as Kindling, will take effect. Kindling damage is lasts longer than normal burning, deals greater damage, and shortens the intervals to every 2 seconds between Mark of Pyre. Kindling damage is based off of Collei’s Elemental Mastery.
Elemental Burst, Tamed Malevolence- Conquering her curse, Collei channels the power inside of her and releases the full coiling serpent as an explosive aoe around her that scales with her elemental mastery, dealing pyro damage. This burst’s has two separate effects.
If Collei is not in the Karmic Ember state, the aoe is larger and applies Mark of Pyre to enemies.
If Karmic Ember State is active, the aoe damage is increased. Additionally, all Marks of Pyre detonate for additional damage and Karmic Ember State immediately ends.
Tumblr media
It’s too cool not to use okay?
A1 Passive, Past Scars- Collei will slowly consume up to 80% of her own HP when in Karmic Ember state, increasing the damage of Mark of Pyre and Kindling until no more HP is consumed. After using Tamed Malevolence in Karmic Ember state, all marks detonated will restore a set amount of Collei’s HP per mark.
A4 Passive, Future Strength- Collei gains a crit rate buff based on a percentage of her Elemental Mastery. This buff caps at 40%
Utility Passive, Survivalist Guide- Party members gain a pyro and dendro res when afflicted with pyro or hit with bloom/burgeon.
Constellation
Control Group- Collei gains a 5% Pyro dmg buff for every enemy inflicted with Mark of Pyre for 14 seconds.
Searing Memories- Kindling damage can now crit and has a fixed crit damage of 100%
Sterilization-Elemental Skill talent lvl increase
Experimental Variables- For every Dendro unit in the group, the party gets 80 Elemental mastery. For every Pyro unit in the group, the party gains 12% atk.
Results inconclusive- Elemental Burst talent lvl increases
Runaway Miracle-Enemies marked get a 25% defense reduction. Additionally, 70% of Collei’s Elemental Mastery is converted to Atk. The fifth hit and charge attack apply their own separate Mark of Pyre that lasts 10 seconds.
That’s pretty much it. The burning artifact set gets a new owner. Kinich and Emile teams would definitely love her, and she’s not so niche to make her irrelevant outside of burning. There’s a short supply of off field pyros. This play style has a good mix of Collei supporting others around her and being resourceful, while having the ability to take lead the way for others. If you squint hard enough, you might accuse me of making Nilou, but a Burning Character.
I haven’t been doing weapons with these cause it never crossed my mind, but I suppose I should be doing that.
It would be a Tome, holding the information Collei was looking for in the Webtoon and her goodbye letter. Low base attack and Elemental Mastery ascension.
When a reaction is triggered that’s related to the user’s element, a 5% atk buff is given to all characters sharing the elements involved in the reaction. This stacks up to 2 times and lasts 12 seconds. Triggering a reaction will reduce the weapon holder’s cool down on their Elemental skill by 1 second every 2.5 seconds.
Can you tell I’m tired of building Sacrificial Fragments?
